My wife and I took this cruise as part of the Ante-Up Poker group. It was our first time on Navigator of the Seas and our first cruise with RCCL in 5-years. EMBARKATION: in Miami: It was a "nightmare"! In 20-years of cruising it was the 2nd worse embarkation experience that we have experienced - the worse was several years ago in New Orleans with Carnival. I won't go into detail but please take my word, it was horrible! THE SHIP: The ship was fine. Clean and in good condition - what we expect every cruise. ENTERTAINMENT: I enjoyed the entertainment more than my wife did. I would rate entertainment 9/10. CABIN: We had a balcony on Deck 8, mid-ship. We were very satisfied with the cabin. ACTIVITIES: I came on the cruise to play poker so I spent most of my time in our private poker room on Deck 2. My wife is a "sun goddess" so she spent most of her time in the sun. She did go to the ice show and said it was GREAT! FOOD: We did not try any of the "specialty" restaurants. They did not appeal to us but there are several to chose from. We mainly ate breakfast/dinner in the Main Dining Room (MDR). We were there with a large group so we had tables assigned together. The second night the Dining Room Manager tried to move our group of six to a table on the other side of the MDR because he wanted to assign other people to our larger table - we got that worked out and remained at our table the entire cruise. Day 2 the dinner service in the MDR was very bad but a talk with the Head Waiter cured that and our service was EXCELLENT the remainder of the cruise. As for the food in the MDR (evening meal) I rate it 5/10. We were on Carnival in March and Celebrity Oct 2017. Carnival easily had better food and Celebrity there is no comparison. The food int the Windjammer (buffet) was the worse we have experienced on any cruise (and we have been on a lot of cruises). I rated them 1/10. SERVICE: Cabin Steward 10/10 Dining staff; 10/10 (after the 2nd day) Casino Staff: 10/10 STOPS: Everything was good there. We had to skip Aruba (been there many times) due to bad weather. Our Captain wouldn't try to dock - Carnival made it. DEBARKATION: That went GREAT! BOTTOM LINE: I had a great cruise. 9-days of playing poker! I even went upstairs to the ship's casino and won a cruise on the Allure of the Seas in December (Cabin + a seat in the $100,000 poker tournament). Read Less

the room was nice, the islands were beautiful the staff was pleasant, but the food on the buffet was one step above prison food. The steak house was good, The Italian restaurant was a hit or miss one day good the next horrible. The buffet was always in need of cleaning, and the staff ignored it. So food was always on the counters and floors, not very appealing. and we were nickeled and dimed everywhere we turned. We had a son hop and I word a hot pink poodle skirt with a matching shirt scarf socks and saddle shoes, we had a photo taken and without telling us the photographer took one in black and white. Then could not understand why we were upset with it. Other than that the cruise was with a singing group so there was always something to do , with 4 private concerts for those who booked with them. Not enough chairs near the pool, but plenty of pool room. The promenade was awesome with a circus parade the last day. All in all the cruise was a success because of the singing group we booked with. We have already booked the next cruise with them. It is not with Royal. Read Less

Very little to say about embarcation, it was quick and efficient! 20 minutes from curb to ship. The ship itself was clean and well maintained, except for worn carpets in a few high traffic areas. Public restrooms were clean and used eating/drinking items in the Windjammer and other public areas like the pools deck were picked up very quickly. My cabin was a deck 6 inside, I was a little concerned as it had a connecting door but it ended up being extremely quiet. It was a very standard inside, comfortable, clean and what I'd expect from RCCL. Entertainment was a bit hit and miss. Piano bar was fine as were the various location bands (pool deck, Royal Promenade...), theatre shows with the RCCL band and dancers were quite good. Other shows in the theatre were a bit less impressive (your mileage may vary of course). Service was amazing everywhere. Bars were rapid, roaming beverage servers quick and efficient, dining room and Windjammer staff were perfect. Cabin steward was amazing! Dining was the only aspect of this cruise I was less than impressed with. This was my 5th RCCL ship and the first time I was disappointed with the food on one of their ships. It was simply not up to scratch with the other Royal ships I've been on. Windjammer quality was ok but selection was lacking. Main dining room food on the other hand was not up to the level of quality I've come to expect from RCCL. Overcooked meat, dry fish, cold food... almost every meal someone at my table had to send back their plate. Ports were all great, I'd visited them all before so I knew what to expect. Labadie was a great beach day, and the ABC islands remain a diving and snorkeling paradise. I also booked the PADI Open Water certification course on board and loved it. Ulises the ship's Divemaster/Instructor was absolutely amazing and did an awesome job working with us to complete our certification thru instruction and pool dives as well as open water dives in Aruba and Curacao. This was our annual Apparel Decorators Cruise (10th). It was a great cruise. We (group of 29) had access to a great conference room for our classes each day. The only problem was the internet. I paid a lot of money for "the fastest internet on the sea" or some such crap. The service was lousy. It kept logging me off, it was EXTREMELY slow, and it was a lengthy process to log back on each time. I had purchased the package because I intended to continue running our business from the ship. We didn't get to stop at Labadee due to weather, and I don't think we were properly compensated for missing that. I did really enjoy the food, both in the dining room, and the buffet area. We also felt the quality of the entertainment was lacking. It was rather amateurish. We did enjoy the comedians. Thank you. Read Less

Went on the navigator nov 24 to dec 03rd had read alot of bad reviews for this ship but management appears to have listened and made improvements. The ship itself was very clean and beautifully decorated. All the crew on board were friendly and geared towards you having a good experience. Hats off to cuddy the cruise director who was always present and so funny. The main headliner shows could use some improvement but were good all the other shows were fantastic. Ice skating show is a must see. We were a group of 17 women from canada and all had a great time. Our waiters at tables 407 and 408 radmir, ranjit hemanshu and luyao were exceptional and made our dining experience very pleasant. Radmir went over and beyond in paticular for 1 guest who is gluten and lactosse free. Overall would definitely sail again on this ship. Lots of activities and good pours throughout all the bars. Friends were going on an organized cruise for an activity that we enjoyed and wanted to be with them but we had had a bad experience with another cruise line and were reluctant to book passage. We are so glad we did because our enjoyment on this cruise was a definite 10! Food was excellent in preparation and diversity both in the dining hall and cafes. In the dining room service was top notch and the menu had choices to satisfy everyone. I especially liked the fact that we could order favorites daily or have the selections of the day. In the Windjammer it was a treat to have eggs made to order and a wide selection from pancakes and waffles to salmon with capers. The ship provided areas for sunning, deck activities or simply a quite place to read. I made Sushi while on board! Wow! This cruise line is doing all the things right to make you feel like royalty! The shore excursion people were friendly and knowledgeable. The organized getting aboard and debarking made for easy transitions for the passengers on Read Less

The ship was in great condition, clean, well kept, and easy to navigate around. The crew were remarkable and always happy to help. Our cabin steward could not have been any better. Room was always clean and neat every time we walk out of it. The food was very good. A decent variety of food each day but if you like any particular items they would do there best to accommodate your requests. The main dining room service was extremely nice. Both our head waiter and assistant waiter were the best we have ever had. Always helpful and quick. I do feel the quality of the food has gone down from past cruises but that could be so that some guests will opt for the fine dining that cost more money. Read Less

I joined a group organized by a blogger who focuses on Royal Caribbean and had a great time meeting the 80 or so people who joined. We sailed from Port Miami on February 17 on a 9 night itinerary. Embarkation was pretty smooth, but being a lowly Gold in the Crown and Anchor Society did not yield any benefits over non-members. Our line for check-in a little after 10 am was the longest. It took about 25 minutes from curb to boarding. The 9 night itinerary was a perfect duration with the right number of sea days and the right number of port days. The first port was Labadee, Haiti. We pre-booked the Dragons Breath zip line, and knocked that off our bucket list. It was a complete blast despite the $98 cost. I would have done it immediately afterward for another $50 if it was offered. The rest of the day involved swimming and drinking Labadoozies. Labadee was followed by a Sea Day as we headed toward Willemstad, Curacao. We toured the Chobolobo distillery, ate at Gouverneur de Rouville restaurant across from the Punda area of Willemstad which I highly recommend. The beer and the meal were delicious and memorable, and the service was wonderful. The next port was Oranjestad, Aruba. We joined our group for a fun tour of the island with Kuku Kanookoo and ended with a couple of hours on the beach at a day resort. The tour was goofy fun, but the day resort portion was over crowded and over priced for food and alcohol. I will choose something else next time I am on the island. I would probably do one of the ATV tours I saw. The final port was Krallendijk, Bonaire. The is a small population on the island, so the offerings are few, but high quality. The snorkeling on Klein Bonaire was the best I have done. I really, really liked this island. The cruise drew to a close with two sea days back to Miami. I have to say that this is easily my favorite itinerary so far. Read Less

We were on this cruise for an extended family event and we had our 3 teens with us. It was my first cruise with my boys but my husband and his daughter have been on many. Both the embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly and it was nice to see an option to self assist by carrying off your own luggage and not wait for a departure time. We didn't choose that option but may try it the next time. An inside state room and a balcony room were our 'home' for this 9 night adventure and was available by 1:30 pm. I couldn't believe how much space we had and so many storage options! Very impressed with the cleanliness of both our rooms and even the comfort of the beds. Our room attendant Richie was absolutely amazing and took care of us very well. He even assisted us with a scavenger hunt we were on with family and friends. I had read many reviews of the Navigator prior to our cruise and was worried about the condition of the ship and the food in both the MDR and the WJ as many were negative. I am very relieved to have discovered that I do not share the opinion of the negative reviews. This ship was very well maintained in appearance and in the quality of the furnishings (carpets, drapes, bedding, towels, dishes etc etc). There was a bit of a disappointment with one of the $ dining options which I mentioned in the progress report onboard and it was acknowledged by the staff within hours and a very nice surprise awaited us in our room in the form of chocolate covered strawberries to make it up to us. It really wasn't necessary for them to do that, as our 'disappointment' was only mentioned to maybe help the next patrons have a bit better experience. They went above and beyond. The MDR service was excellent and because we were travelling with about 60 other people in our 'group' we had a section mostly to ourselves and got to change up tables and have a variety of waitstaff. They were all GREAT and worked so hard to make it so enjoyable. There were lots of choices on the menu and it was nice to try new dishes and desserts(...and really for me, such a treat to not have to cook and do dishes!! :) ) My family really enjoyed it too! The WJ also was a pleasant surprise with all the different choices and you could make lots of healthy picks. I love Indian food and am happy to report that these options were tasty and had some nice 'kick' to them! Everywhere on the ship, in all the lounges/bars or on deck there was always a friendly staff member offering to serve up a beverage. The kids loved the activities and shows and the cookies available in the cafe. All of the ports were beautiful and harassment free. Bonaire was the best in my opinion, so beautiful and pristine! I would go again. Read Less

First off to all the Veteran Cruisers, Let's face it the industry has changed dramatically. The days of the Deck Parties, Ice Carvings, Midnight Buffets, Festive sail away parties and Theme nights are a thing of the past. Not sure what the reasoning is behind all of these cuts is because these in the past were very enjoyable and highly anticipated events. I'm sure it has something to do with $$ though :-).That being said, To you not so seasoned cruisers who are clueless to what I'm referring to will know no difference. Anyway Contrary to the negativity of the reviews this ship has been getting, This was a terrific cruise. I fell into the trap of believing all of the negativity and even with all of my experience in cruising, was extremely concerned that I was in for a bad experience. Shame on you folks that submitted some of these wildly false and negative reviews. What happened on the transatlantic portion on this ship and the Boston debacle has nothing to do with the Caribbean sailings. Different ports, different processes. Be aware that in the new age of cruising, some of the responsibility of you having a good time rests on your own shoulders. Its not the ships responsibility to make sure that you are happy 100% of the time. If that is your expectation then your setting yourself up for a huge disappointment. The ship provides the opportunity, It's up to you to make it happen. Embarkation- Not so smooth for us. We normally go early, this time since it was a 9 day cruise, we figured we would try a later boarding experience. Bad idea. We are Emerald members who are suppose to get priority boarding privileges but were not allowed to use the Emerald line until we went through a majority of the regular line. So not very smooth for us. Others also seemed slightly frustrated with the process, but we all made it just in time to get immediately into our cabins. Now to the ship- Very well maintained. It is a bit dated and Yes could use a renovation soon. But definitely acceptable. Our cabin on Deck 7 was a typical balcony cabin. No problems. Dining Room was very nice. Service was a bit slow at times and food was Average. Staff was very attentive, but at times showed some frustration, but all in all was good Windjammer- Food was actually quite good up there.Better than some other RCCL ships we have been on. Always seemed busy though. Also keep in mind that most people have that its their world and you just live in it mentality, so if your not ready for battle, be prepared to get bumped, shoved, cut in front of etc.. Just stand your ground. Entertainment- Comedians were fantastic, Ice show even though not my thing, was quite good. Did not do any of the production shows, If seen one you've pretty much seen em all. On board feedback from other guest was not very favorable for the shows. Many walk outs. Cruise Director Cuddy was a bit of a phony, but had most convinced that he was the man. Entertainment staff were pretty good. If you are going on to participate in the trivia games, Be aware of the "Googlers". Hard to believe people would cheat to win small meaningless prizes, but it happens. Schooner bar Piano Guy David Curtis is quite entertaining. Definitely worth a look.. He is the late night guy. Terrific improv talent. But very important for crowd to participate. Ports of call - Labadee, Curacao, Bonaire and Aruba. All were very good. Labadee was just a quick walk around for us because we have been there several times. The other 3 were very nice and we were not disappointed in any way. I was the leader of a group of 24, So I had booked all our excursions months in advance through private vendors. I have submitted reviews on all of our excursions on Trip Advisor. The three tours we did were Irie Tours on Curacao, Caribe Water Sports Snorkel Tour on Bonaire, and ABC Jeep tour on Aruba. First 2 were excellent, ABC tour had potential to be great but heavy downpours throughout the day put a bit of a damper on that excursion. Bar Service - Not the greatest. We purchased the premium drink package (in advance..much cheaper). Bars in public areas (pools and windjammer)at times were quite busy and had to wait up to 5 minutes at times for service. Very few drink guys walking around as they used to hound you like used car salesmen before the package era became popular..hmmm!! Guest Services - Very busy at times, but took care of most issues. Our safe malfunctioned twice. Had problems with keys etc.. billing and credit issues were resolved efficiently. Just go when they are not busy. Promenade Area - Very good.. Did parades, bars and snacks as well as shops were all available. Nice open area to stroll around at various times. Kind of like a mall atmosphere if I had to describe it. Disembarkation - A breeze for us because we used self assist. Were off the ship and thru customs with luggage in hands and in our van within 30 minutes after departing our cabin. In Closing we really enjoyed this cruise. Disregard the negativity and trust me on this one. I get the fact that some things happen that can cause folks to not enjoy their vacations, but most of the negativity is just coming from those that have nothing better to do but complain. Was it perfect, absolutely not..But in comparison to other sailings Iv'e been on, It ranks pretty high. Enjoy and I hope I offered some good insight. Read Less
