We chose Royal Caribbean because we got tired of Carnival. Our ship , Navigator of the Seas was a 7 day western cruise. Great itinerary. Nice ship. However, the food on this ship was just subpar! It was awful in the Windjammer and the main dining room. Completely disappointed Would not feed that so called food to my dogs! Carnival being a lower class line has much better food! The waite staff in the dining room was fabulous. Shout out to Nuran, Dandung & Hainin. Great guys!!! The service on the entire ship was excellent! The activities were also very disappointing!!!. No good shows and the comedy shows were limited and sporadic so if you missed the show you were not going to see it. But again the food, horrible! That was our first Royal cruise and probably our last.....Wondering if the food was just lousy on this particular ship or all Royal Caribbean ships.?? Read Less

We chose The Navigator of the Seas because of the ports of call-Western Caribbean and wanted our kids to experience a Royal Caribbean ship with all the fun activities (rock climbing wall, FlowRider, Royal Promenade, etc.). After booking our cruise about 9 months before sailing, we saw on the internet that our ship was due for an upgrade (dry dock) in early 2019. We were excited to hear that the ship would get a whole new pool deck, water slides, new restaurants and bars. Here is what you need to know about The Navigator of the Seas: DISEMBARKATION: We stayed at the Homewood Suites Lagoon. Nice hotel with free breakfast. Shuttle to the port was about 15 minutes and the cost per person was $12. There are restaurants within walking distance and a store in case you need last minute supplies. From the time we stepped off the van and boarding the ship-it was about 45 minutes-Not bad SHIP: Like I mentioned above the ship got a rework, or as Royal likes to call it: Royal Amped Up...$115 Million dollars worth! Here is what was done: -Basically the pool deck was totally redone. They re-imagined the pool area to a Caribbean resort-like feel. New waterslides, aquacoaster (first ever) -Near the pool a new bar the Lime & Coconut and El Loco Fresh (both very good additions) -Redone mini golf-very nice job-Same as what is on the Harmony of the Seas -New in the Royal Promenade: Starbucks, Bamboo Room Lounge, Playmakers Sports Bar -New restaurants: Jamie's Italian (Seriously good), Hooked (replaced Sabor)-These are both specialty for fee restaurants -Glow in the dark Laser tag and Escape Room (Fee for Escape Room) It also has the FlowRider, rock climbing wall, ice skating rink Before we left I watched video tours showing the Navigator before it was drydocked. It looked nice but let me tell you Royal did such a great job with the rework. CABIN: We decided to go mid ship with my wife in the balcony stateroom and our 3 kids across the hall in an interior cabin. We found this configuration to work well as the kids would hang in our stateroom until they went to bed. Royal replaced the carpet and had new bed linens when it was in drydock. I did notice some wear and tear on the balcony but nothing too noticeable. Our stateroom balcony was very nice. I know there are arguments in favor and against a balcony. My opinion: Get the balcony, people. You are on a cruise-it is totally worth it. End of discussion. DINING: Like I mentioned above we did opt for the specialty dining. We did a special where we did our first 2 nights at specialty dining restaurants. We chose Izumi and Jamie's Italian. Izumi was good; you have $35 to spend per person and let me tell you that is plenty. We got a few specialty rolls and some of us got the hot plate (they cook the meat in front of you on the table-very cool). With me being half Japanese I am a sushi snob...there I said it. The rice was a bit overcooked and mushi. I know this is sushi but it should not be mushi! Jaime's Italian was our 2nd night. My wife and I had eaten at Jaime's on Harmony of the Seas and did not think it memorable. This time on the Navigator it was memorable. From the service (shout out to Mihaela), appetizer (get the plank), entrees and desert (get the Tiramasu)-everything was great. As for the main dining room, we had an issue with our table. We had 2 staterooms. Knowing this, I called Royal a few times to make sure we were all going to be at the same table-they assured me we would. Well on our third night (first 2 nights were specialty) they were going to seat our 3 daughters with a couple of lovely elderly ladies and my wife and I at another table. I let the person in charge know and they did seat us all together but it was in the corner of the dining room. I talked to them and for the remainder of the cruise our table was by a window and all of us together. Shout out to Chris and Yogesh for making everything flow smoothly after that 3rd night. ENTERTAINMENT & ACTIVITIES: The shows at night were decent. The stand out was the ice skating show. They had some dancing shows and comedians that were good. Nothing inappropriate for kids. There was a very good activity crew member (actually the first person we did meet) named Aaron. When we first boarded the ship we wisely packed our swim suits so we immediately went to the FlowRider and that is where we met Aaron. He taught us how to maneuver on the FlowRider. We also saw him at laser tag and other times on the ship. He was just naturally funny and fun to be around. SERVICE: The overall service was good. Some memorable but nothing that absolutely stood out. Aaron on the activity crew was probably the one that did stand out. Also Totot our assistant waiter in the main dining room was good as well. PORTS AND SHORE EXCURSIONS: 4 Ports in 7 days-Oh My! Roatan, Honduras: We booked this independent from Royal. This was due to the fact we were trying to find a dive company that would accommodate my wife and I (PADI certified) and our 3 kids (non-certified) to dive together. We went with West End Divers and are so glad we did! Courtney & Joseph were our dive guides and Manon (the owner) made it possible for our whole family to scuba together (our own private scuba dive!) We highly recommend this company. Costa Maya: We did the zipline and waterslide excursion thru Royal at the Mayan Lost Kingdom. For whatever reason I was not expecting much. It turns out this was a super fun excursion. Also, it did rain a bit while we were ziplining which added to the fun (warm rain) Cozumel: We booked horseback riding for the girls and my wife and I booked a scuba diving excursion (both thru Royal) The scuba dive was great, we saw a shark, eagle ray and turtle. Also went thru a pass thru as well. The kids said they had a great time on the horse back ride as well Grand Cayman: We decided to go with the Sting Ray and snorkel excursion thru Royal. It was a nice excursion to do once (check the box). The water was absolutely beautiful and it was fun interacting with the sting rays. Looking back on this cruise, from the newly amped ship to the crew and dining to the 4 ports-we would say this was a very memorable cruise. If given the opportunity we would definitely go again in an instant. Royal did a great job in updating The Navigator of Seas. Read Less

We opted for The KEY which gave us a lot of nice perks (internet, choice seating, free lunch at chops grill day 1, etc. Got dad a balcony room (8582), and myself a Promenade Interior (8583) directly across from his. My father loved his cabin ... the fresh air and views. My cabin, however, was awful. Terrible toxic, chemical, mothball-like smell. I asked housekeeping to help twice. Two different staff members agreed it was unbearable, but offered no solution, no other cabin, no sympathy. (See more in my cabin review). The cruise and excursions we're enjoyable for my father. He enjoyed the food, the shows, the waterslides, the staff, and his cabin. I found the shows, the cruise director and the performances to be a bit cheesy and annoying. We loved our two excursions booked through the cruise ... The Dolphin Swim in Nassau and the Dragon Zip Line in Haiti. Incredibly professional and worth every penny The cruise staff was friendly. A big reason we usually choose RC is because of our Diamond status (those who pay for suites also enjoy.) However it’s became apparent RC is no longer valuing the loyalty this brings them. The Diamond lounge is usually a place where you get the added benefits of a quiet place to get a contintental breakfast and happy hour with free drinks at night. However, it feels like this is a bother to the staff. The first thing that happened is they sent notification to our room that happy hour was from 4:30-8pm. When we arrived at 4:30, they told us that it doesn’t begin until 5pm. Even showing the paper we received, we were told it was wrong. Then when we asked for a drink at 8pm before leaving, we were told last drink was at 7:55. At breakfast, they only had a carton of milk by the coffee. We asked for something non-dairy (due to allergy) and were practically yelled at that there was “only milk!” When we then asked the concierge if maybe tomorrow a non-dairy could be provided, she replied very snootily “I’m sorry you were inconvenienced. I’ll see what we can do.” Also, we used to always be issued robes to use in our staterooms, but our cabin steward told us that is no longer a service. I didn’t bring a robe because of this and now it makes getting ready difficult. I asked for a couple of extra towels, and he agreed but looked very pained, which means he probably gets flack from management. I will tip him very well to compensate, but I feel bad. At the pool, you are only allowed 2 towels per person. Period. No exceptions. So there’s no way to have 1 towel cover your chair, one for a pillow and one to dry off. I realize it is a luxury to do this, but I’m on vacation! I feel like I’m at a very low end hotel. These are pretty simple things but apparently the staff is overworked and not getting support from management to make guests happy. Honestly, save $100 and just take a Carnival Cruise because this is what RC is catering to.Ill definitely be sharing this with our travel agent to warn others as well. Read Less

Every 2 or 3 years we go on a Cruise. Royal Caribbean was always my first choice. Last time ( 2 years ago) I had a bad experience. This time was even worst. Food is not the same anymore. The amazing dinner that i used to have , it is gone. The staff ( with some exceptions) was rude . The main answer was " Sorry , we can not do anything " . Casino machines are old , some of then older than in the worst casinos in Florida. The tour was very poor. The tour guide spent one hour teaching ridiculous words in Spanish and asking for "propina" Tips. Pools completely crowded. Not everything was bad. The cabin was good an the cabin service too. Summary , my advice " Don't pay more for Royal Caribbean , they are far away to be the same company that they were 10 to 5 years ago " . Read Less

Overpriced for the value. We cruised with 14 family members. We drove down to Miami for the cruise. Parking ramp was very expensive for the five days. Parking ramp had no signage on how to get around, including getting out. Stateroom (verandah) was terrible. Bed was old and rock hard. Language barriers were prevalent with majority of staff, no matter what the setting. Some spoke the equivalent of no English, even though the majority of the guests spoke English. Nickeled and dimed to death. I found myself crying out MOOO!! many times during embarkation and debarkation as I now know how cattle feel. Room service had a significant fee for every and any type of service. Bathroom was falling apart. Our room entrance door would not close automatically (I found it open on numerous occasions), even though it is supposed to close automatically and the verandah door did not lock without learning the way to fidget with it, from our steward. Soap tray in shower fell off the wall twice and appears to have been screwed back on, in different positions, many times. Read Less

It was an affordable vacation on Spring Break as a family. Navigator of the Seas was a decent ship. It was not that modern. You could tell it was refurbished at some point. The decor was inviting, a little above average. The room was as expected, same decor and size as most ships. The staff was above average. Very efficient, polite, everyone greeted us. Service was very quick and friendly. We were impressed by the service We didnt partake in any excursions so no comments here The entertainment on the ship was pretty good, not mind blowing, but you could tell they made an effort to keep us entertained especially on sea days. One exceptional thing on the ship was the ladies that took care of the youth programs. AMAZING WOMEN. My daughter never wanted to leave. The only part of the cruise that my wife and I were really disappointed was the quality and variety of the food, especially in the Windjammer buffet. Felt more like the Unjammer at times. Food was very mediocre, and the choices were limited. Dining room was ok but the menu needs more choices. I would recommend themed night, like Italian or Mexican, those are always fun Overall, the cruise was average. What you would expect nothing more. Nothing to blow your mind. This was a good cruise for a family vacation, or couple of college kids with little cash who just want a fun week together. Read Less

My wife and I have cruised 4 other times, but this was the first time for our two boys, ages 9 and 11. In short, everyone had a great time. On recounting the trip, the "memorable moment" count was far higher for this cruise than any of our previous trips. The four of us stayed in a Grand Suite, which was quite nice. At first glance, I thought it would be too small for our family, but after the 5 day cruise, honestly, it was plenty of space. The balcony adds a lot of square footage to where you can move around. I highly recommend being in a suite. The primary perk is that it gives you access to the Concierge Lounge. Why is that a benefit? It's kinda like a private club. The room itself is underwhelming, frankly, but you go there before dinner and you meet other suite people -- and there's some light hors d'oeuvres, but more importantly, an OPEN BAR. They don't have frozen drinks, but they can make just about anything else with their 15 bottle bar of standard stuff (gin, vodka, rum, wine, etc.) We'd get a drink, then just before we left for dinner, would ask for a glass of wine to take to dinner. No problems leaving the lounge with the wine. (I hadn't brought any cash the first night .. on the second, I tipped the bartender $20 for the many drinks he'd served us .. future glasses of wine pours were HUGE.) Two other Suite perks .. a complimentary, private tour of the bridge and galley. Also, on disembarkation day, you have your own private area and you show up in any 30 minute window, they will put you at the front of any line off the ship. Four negatives about the cruise: * The pool water is freezing cold. No one wants to be in the pool for more than a quick dip. This didn't make sense to me. Heat the pool. * The Wi-Fi speed was about 3 megs down on Day 1 .. but by Day 3, everyone was using it, and speeds were in the 150kbps range, with massive latency. (I'm a network guy.) * The "kids club" for 9-11 year olds was .. simply. bad. Our two sons had zero interest in it, which was disappointing, we'd hoped they could hang out there. It shouldn't be that hard: Buy some Xboxes and TVs, and let the kids play/watch, like other cruise lines. * During peak hours, breakfast and lunch, the Windjammer cafe is awful. Far too crowded, too disorganized, and not enough seating. For breakfast, go to the Main Dining Room, and avoid the Windjammer. Lunch food was generally average .. dinner was quite good. They always had a kids' menu, and let the kids pick off either menu. They were happy campers. Conclusion: We loved the cruise. Will repeat. Read Less

This was our first cruise and now we are addicted. Royal Caribbean made everything so simple which made for a very relaxing vacation with my family. The ship was awesome...our balcony cabin was perfect for the 2 of us and our 11 year old son. The food did not disappoint...from the windjammer, the main dining room, Izumi, and Chops...We did the sushi making class on our first day at sea and loved it...we learned to make sushi and then enjoyed our creations. Our son loved the flowrider. The female instructor is the bomb and so wonderful with kids and teaching boogie boarding or surfing. The service both for dining and throughout the ship was awesome. Our ports were Costa Maya and Cozumel. We chose the dolphin adventure in Costa Maya for our son and he loved it. In Cozumel, we did the beach resort of Mr. Sanchos and it was perfect...all inclusive food and drink. The beach massage was great...and the water park in the ocean was great for our son. This was a perfect family vacation...I am already looking into our next Royal Caribbean adventure. Read Less

This was our first cruise as a family, and it won't be our last. Kids had a blast (9 + 6), and we found the perfect mix of family time and date night time. The kids enjoyed the evening sessions at Adventure Ocean. Service was wonderful, particularly in the MDR. Common areas of the ship were in great shape. State room was showing it's age but not in a way that made a difference for our overall experience. Kids loved the rock climbing, and our daughter enjoyed the Flowrider. Entertainment was good, particularly worth seeing the Ice skating show. Although it was difficult to find a chair by the pool at peak times, it didn't feel nearly as crowded as I expected given it was a sold-out cruise. We had a balcony room, and ended up using the balcony far more than anticipated. We'll be doing an Oasis Class ship for our next cruise, but we wouldn't hesitate to sail on this class again in the future. Read Less

Horrible food wasn't even up to basic sanders i had raw chicken served to me and uncooked fish i had informed my waiter and nothing was done from the raw food to the hard donuts i was so disappointed on this ship this dosent include the brown water that was coming out of my faucet . I was on the 12th floor when i brought it to there attention there responce was we take showers with black water and we are ok. Really grose i will never ever cruise on royal caribbean again. I almost forgot they would put random charges on your bill hoping for you not to catch it. That might work with spring breakers but not me . so beware spring breakers not worth a dollar so beware save your money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read Less

This was our first Royal Caribbean Cruise, and it will likely be our last. It's not for lack of trying from some of the staff, however. We had a GREAT head waiter who worked hard to rectify my complaints, a fantastic room steward and very good service desk personnel. The problem is that I had to complain about anything on a cruise. The major problem my family experienced was with the organization and availability of food on board. If you're used to a 24 hour availability and ease of obtaining food, this is not your cruise. That's not to say it doesn't exist, it does in a small cafe called the Cafe Promenade. But it is a SMALL cafe, and there are 3,800 guests. The other 24 hour option is room service, but beware...it comes with a $7.95 delivery charge and an 18% gratuity. On the week we sailed, it was also a spring break week. These kids were hungry, thirsty...and LOUD. The largest dining room on the ship, the Windjammer Cafe, closed at 9:00 p.m. How foolish with so many kids on board. Pizza, hotdogs and hamburgers should've been on speed dial. In general, food service seemed to suffer from poor organization and lack of preparation. In addition to these concerns we also experienced a late room service delivery with the incorrect order. Our Cabin Steward was also top notch...great guy who kept us supplied with ice and quickly responded to our needs. But again, we had them. Overall our room was very clean, but we did experience one curious event. We received a note that our balcony was to be painted while we were in port. That was okay as we were "in port' and out of our room the entire day. When we returned, our balcony railing had been varnished. It was beautiful...but we noticed what appeared to be blood droplets across our bed linens. We couldn't figure out how they got there...I presumed one of the workers had cut him/herself. But we'll never know. Steve (our steward) quickly changed all of our linens. The entertainment on board ship was hit or miss. LOVED the ice show (Ice Dancin')...saw it twice. We experienced two of the big production shows: one centered around ballroom dancing and the other was also a musical review called "Backstage Access." All three were sort of period musical reviews and could've benefited from more variety. I wasn't impressed with the Latin band that played throughout the various venues. They were talented enough, but none had an overabundance of personality. The same can be said for the majority of the staff on board. Most were pleasant, few were effusive. Nur, Roy, Nuron (these were our Sapphire Dining wait staff) were wonderful...as were a few other folks I met along the way: Wilbur, Christian and Cuddy come to mind. This was my daugher-in-law's first cruise experience. She enjoyed it. It was my sixth...I did too, but not enough to heartily commend Royal Caribbean to someone else. Read Less

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day cruise on the Navigator Of The Seas. Our stateroom experience was fabulous, which was enhanced by our attendant, Dextar Delpesche, who was friendly and most accommodating, who clearly deserves a 10+. Our dining room waiter, Diomedes Livingston, and our assistant waiter, Johann Arif Safii, were very professional, and went out of their way to please us. They both earned a 10. The biggest disappointment was the absence of the traditional lobster dinner on formal night. We also took note of the lack of photographers that came around to our table during dinner. This is the only cruise we've been on where there hasn't been any photographers at our ports of call when we leave the ship. We booked a private sitting at the black and white portrait studio, and had purchased over $500 worth of prints. Regrettably, the ships printer had a malfunction, and all of our photos were printed out with coloured lines down them. We were originally supposed to be first off the ship at 7:45 am, as we had a 30 hour drive back to Canada to look forward to, but due to the reprinting of the photos, we didn't end up leaving the ship until 10:30, without our purchased prints. Fortunately, they were able to send the pictures to our home via FedEx. In the Windjammer, staff members Sebastiano and Louis Legrand were friendly, hard working, and knowledgeable. Being loyal cruisers with Royal Caribbean for the past 9 years, we have always been thrilled with the exceptional service and social aspect of the staff in the Windjammer. However, this cruise, we were greatly disappointed with the lack of communication and friendliness from the majority of the Windjammer staff. It felt like it was their first days on the job. They didn't make any effort to serve us, or acknowledge our requests, and didn't offer us so much as a smile. We recognize we cruised over the first week of March break, but the number of students onboard was overwhelming. Their language, attire, behavior, and alcohol consumption on the pool decks were incredibly inappropriate, especially considering the families with young children onboard. Overall, we enjoyed our experience onboard, and would recommend it to our friends. However, we would suggest cruising at an alternative time to March break. Read Less

This was our third cruise with RC, our first on Navigator of the Seas, our first time leaving from Port of Miami. We picked this cruise to spend time with friends attending Pool School on board. We live near Tampa and we decided to drive to Miami port that Morning. If you are driving in, consider driving down a day before and stay at hotel near the port to avoid concerns about traffic/flight tires/car issues etc. If you are flying in, fly in a couple of days earlier and enjoy Florida. Avoid meltdowns from airplane delays by giving yourself a cushion. Also, when you return, make sure you give yourself time to make your flight. Traffic is bad in Miami. Use Self Assist (you carry own bags) and leave at 7:45AM to beat the crowds. We did and were very happy with the experience. Our Drive to Miami port was without incident. We found departing terminal G, got our bags to the porter, and parked at the parking garage. The garage parking costs $20 a day, and they take cash or credit card payment when you leave. I like the convenience of being able to walk to the car when returning from the cruise. Getting our seapasses only took a few minutes. Tip:If your set sail docs indicate "Suite" make sure you get into the Suite line. We had a junior suite and an inside cabin. Junior Suite was sweet, if you can afford to splurge it is worth it. We got on the ship around noon and the ship was gorgeous. There were 16 of us in the group we travelled with, so we never had a dull moment at dinners. We ate at three upcharge restaurants : Sabor (Mexican), Giovanni (Italian), Chops Grille (Steak). The other two nights we ate at the Sapphire Dining Room. Chops was my favorite. Great Ribeye, excellent Mushroom soup. I splurged for the lobster. It was tasty. Our wait staff were from Turkey and they were awesome. Big compliments. Teşekkür ederim!! Everyone on my party liked Sabor, I am not big Mexican food fan, so I defer to my family and friends who were with me on the cruise. Great service. Giovanni's kitchen service was slow and the entree's were brought before the pasta, which was somewhat irritating, and we requested the entrees be sent back and the pasta be served prior to entrees. It would behoove them to consider serving the pasta family style to speed up service. On a good note, the filet was excellent and the staff was very kind. It would behoove the manager to come to the table and check on things. Our Waiter Mr. Singh was King in the Sapphire Main dining room. He made a point to learn our names and the service a superlative. He and his assistant were superlative in service. धन्यवाद (Thank you./Dhantavaad). I hope we meet again, I was honored to meet Mr. Singh. Foodwise at Main Dining, the quality appears to be reflecting the push to get people to eat at the upcharge restaurants. The "Jumbo Tiger Prawns" were anything but jumbo and the shrimp cocktail had small shrimp. All my entrees were delicious, The Lamb Chops were great. When anyone at our table requested something else the food appeared with friendly service. As an aside I wish they brought back Lobster night. My friend from work went on the Carnival Magic and enjoyed lobster. That being said, the cook staff have a daunting challenge daily of preparing so many delicious meals and I applaud them for doing so successfully night after night. Köszönöm!! Breakfast was available in the dining room and windjammer. Both were good. The hash browns in dining room and the diced potatoes in Windjammer need some work. Eggs Benedict were good but I wish the eggs were more Poached and less soft boiled. The mushroom omelet is good. Service was very good. We ate at Johnny Rockets for lunch Monday. It was good but the upcharge is now $10 and used to be $5, and does not include shakes. Also, the drink packages do not apply there. Just a caveat. Service there was great!!! Дякую!!! There are three drink packages (Soda, Soda/Coffee/Smoothies/Water Bottles, Alcohol plus Soda/Coffee/Smoothies). If you order ONLINE before you arrive the price is cheaper. Whether to choose a package and which one is based on your personal preference. Café promenade on deck five had pizza and tasty snacks. Pizza was poor the first couple of days but last day was much improved. You can get Ben & Jerry's ice cream or shake for a small charge. I purchased WIFI to be able to text others in our party. I was not terribly impressed as I stlll was unable to text from time to time. This may have been user error, your results may vary. Our Steward was attentive and very courteous. धन्यवाद (Thank you./Dhantavaad). We ate late so we did not attend the shows. Our three kids did not participate in the youth programs this time. We had two ports of call, in Costa Maya and Cozumel (Mexico). Both were tourist spots with plenty of shopping and food/drink. Both places accept USD and charge US style prices, . Margaritaville in Cozumel made the Guacamole to order at your table, my compliments. At Costa Maya, some in our party swam with Dolphins. Photo packages were pricey. In Cozumel we met Moses, who took us to El Cid Hotel next to port and 10 of the 16 went on a snorkeling trip while the rest of us stayed at the hotel beach. We were on cruise during spring break, so the hotel pool was full of fun and bubbles and they had a DJ playing enthusiastic music. My compliments to the boat service as they took care of our people and got them back early so we could all return to the ship on time. Overall a great trip. My only caveat would be that due to our cruise being during spring break, the pools and jacuzzis were full on sea days. For our family we had a great time and I met some very nice students from Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida. The ship was very clean and the staff attentive and courteous. My wife and I originally planned to go by ourselves for a 10th anniversary cruise. Our honeymoon was taken on Freedom of the Seas back in 2008. However our childcare fell through and we had to rebook with 3 children ages 5, 2, and 7m. Our travel agent secured a Family Oceanview stateroom for us on Navigator and the total for the cruise didn't break the bank for us after adding the kids. We had taken our oldest son on Royal Caribbean before when he was 2 so we knew what to expect for childcare under age 3. Cabin See "Cabin Review" Dining Windjammer is a feeding frenzy at certain times and good luck getting a table for 5 unless you stake the place out all day. Food was about Golden Corral quality. Not as good as it was 10 years ago. Staff was helpful and friendly. The passengers were rude and pushy. But that's the quality of most of the people that I've seen eating at the buffet on my last 4 cruises. Sapphire Dining room was great. Food was good, not great. They no longer have filet mignon or lobster tail nights. You can order it but you have to pay a premium. One formal night on our 5 night cruise. The wait staff was FANTASTIC. I can't say that enough. They showed a lot of patience dealing with our 3 kids and their picky attitudes and lack of manners. I commended them for it. They were the highlight of the cruise. They impressed us so much the first night we stuck strictly with them for all meals unless my wife and I wanted to grab a quick snack from the buffet. Breakfast and lunch in the dining room had buffet options in the center of the dining room or you could order off the menu. With our kids it was easier just to grab a few things from the buffet. Embarkation Annoying, but that's expected. Once on the ship it was much better after you get past all the people harrassing you to buy extra things like drink packages, lanyards, dining packages, internet, etc. We were able to get to our room and by dinner all our luggage was at the room. Enrichment Activities N/A Entertainment One weird thing I noticed about this cruise was that the Cruise Director seemed to be MIA. On every other cruise I have been on (Both RC and Carnival) the cruise director is very active on the PA system and leading different activities. The only time I heard anyone on the PA was every morning the captain would give a briefing of the weather and when we would be able to get off the ship when we were docked. No announcements of shows coming up, activities on the pool deck, etc. I dont even know who the cruise director was. That being said we didn't check out many of the shows since we just wanted to relax in the hot tub after dropping the kids off at Adventure Ocean. Fitness and Recreation Has the usual Flow Rider and Climbing wall. Has the fitness center. Fitness center was calm and quiet so there weren't obnoxious music videos blaring on all the screens. Onboard Experience Overall it was average. RC seems to be nickle and diming everyone much more than they used to. Filet mignon and lobster tails used to be included in the dining room, they are now a premium price. You pay full price for a 7 month old infant and THEN pay an hourly fee in daycare AND gratuities for an infant that does nothing but drink breastmilk we brought ourselves and nap. Can't use the pool. Can't use the casino :D Room service is now a mandatory fee as well as gratuities. It just seems like after 10 years they are removing more things from being included and keeping the price the same. I realize its probably the people that order 40 lbs of cake at room service and eat maybe 3 slices, the rest of us have to suffer. Service Room attendant was average. The dining room staff was fantastic. Adventure Ocean staff was also great but I only had one complaint. The nursery is listed as "drop in daycare" on multiple documents. However if you don't pre-book times you will get lectured about needing to pre book because they are just so busy with the one single child in the daycare. At any time literally all the children could rush into the nursery and they would be overwhelmed with babies. There were never more than 2 other kids in the nursery aside from our two under 3. Childcare Our 5 year old LOVED Aquanauts. On our first night he said he wanted to go mini golfing, so after dinner we dropped the younger ones off at the nursery and took him mini golfing for an hour. He said he had fun but we dropped him off at AO and after we picked him up at 10 he said he "missed ALL the fun" for the hour we spent mini golfing. So we always took him up there any chance they were open. Every night he was coming back with some creation "alien poop" (slime) or a balloon animal or a superhero cape and telling us stories of what he did. We booked adult excursions so we were able to book the time for both port days for the kids to stay at adventure ocean and the nursery. They will feed the kids and take care of everything for them. Shore Excursions We booked independently through local vendors that we researched at the ports before we went on the trip. Places like GoBe.com or CheapCruises are good. They offer the same excursions for less cost than booking through Royal Caribbean. We've also had luck just going into the port and talking to local tour companies. Overall we had fun but I'm disappointed in the quality of the cruise compared to previous cruises I've had with Royal Caribbean. Maybe we will try one last cruise on one of their top ships to see if the experience is any different before I give up my loyalty to them completely. Read Less

7th time on Navigator of the Seas Lots to do and the Navigator of the Seas Band is a Fantastic Professional Band Plays a large selection of music and styles. This year was better as it brought an interaction of the band to the audience. Also the Music Entertainment through out the ship is all great. The J Wind band was great and sounds great with a large selection of old time favorites. The music in the Poets Bar the music was great and it added a fantastic touch when the Music Director from the Navigator Band added her saxophone to the guitar and singing. Are cabin was looked after with great care. The ship has always been clean and neat. Food was also great both in the Wind Jammier and Dinning Room We went on our own excursion which worked out great, I did not give a rating on Shore Excursion as we did our own. If you go to Puerto Costa Maya, Mexico you must visit the Cazy Lobster. We had a nice lazy day on the beach and cheap drinks and good food. No one harassing you like we found walking along that area. The food was amazing and our cabin, which was a balcony cabin, had plenty of room. Our room attendant was truly amazing and our waiters at our dinner service were so awesome that we requested to be seated in their section every night. We swam with the dolphins at Cozumel, and if you have never done this or are thinking about it, I would highly recommend it. The experience is unbelievable. As we are members with World Wide Travel Experts we booked our cruise and flights through them. With our membership we were able to find and save about $80/ticket on 4 airline tickets and as we did save a little on our cruise. Our larger savings will be on our next vacation with utilizing the points we earned on this one. Read Less

We wanted a cruise out of Miami to celebrate a birthday and as a reunion of family members. We cruised on same week last year on Norwegian for 3 day cruise which we felt was not long enough. I was not interested in Mexico ports but others in the party went ashore. The service was okay. As usual there were some crew that were great (waiter) and others that were not very good. We prepaid our gratuities and I'm actually rethinking if that's a good idea. I'm a smoker (sorry) and I expect to always have to go outside to a specific area to smoke. No problem. But the designated area outside of the 4th floor dining room was disgusting. People left empty glasses and spilled beverages made the deck sticky. At least 4 crew members walked by this and did nothing. There was no outdoor dining venue on this ship. It would have been great to have breakfast or lunch especially on port days outside. The spa was very good. I had an excellent massage therapist and went back for a second massage with her. Read Less

It's my first time boarding Navigator of the Seas with my parents and siblings. I would say our overall experience was incredible. I am usually not a fan of spending my vacation on the sea but this one had been an awesome experience. I will rate my experience in detail: Ship: 4.5/5 The ship is so big and there were so many places in the ship where you can find yourself entertained or relax and have a quiet time. It's well equipped and all decks were maintained clean. As far as the decorations, I am beyond impressed (you will really feel you are in a cruise ship, which was great). Cabin: 5/5 I don't really mind having a studio sized stateroom as long as it is well maintained and clean. I mean sheets, linens, and bath towels were changed in a timely manner. Our stateroom attendant Basille (or Basil) - our stateroom was Deck 8, room 8653 - was excellent and very attentive. He was very thorough with his job and made sure that everything was perfect. As for our bathroom, there were so many spaces where I can put my toiletries and personal items. Closet was big enough to keep our clothing (there were 3 of us in the room) tidy. Lighting were excellent, just what I needed in a room. Room temperature was perfect. TV was okay (I have watched shows that I liked, but most of the time I am not really in my room so that's okay) Dining: 4.5/5 VERY EXCELLENT!!! > Windjammer: OMG, lots of food choices although I felt that breakfast was kind of repeated every day. Food was still delicious and hot (for hot foods). I just hope there were more options for fruit juices. Rate: 4/5 > Café Promenade: Best place for snacking 24 hours (well the only place that is open for 24 hours). Their pizza were delicious and freshly made. Service was very fast and they usually let you know how long it will take for the food to be ready. Again, I just wished there were more options for fruit juices. Rate: 4.5/5 > Sapphire Dining: THE BEST PLACE/SERVICE WE'VE EVER GOT. Our waiter Jackson and waiter's assistant Luciana were the best. They provided us excellent food service and great enthusiasm. They have great personality, were very cheerful, and were pretty much COOL! The manager along with Jackson and Luciana welcomed us with a huge smile on their faces. They also made sure that our experience was excellent with great satisfaction. Food was definitely delicious. WE REALLY ENJOYED OUR TIME HERE! Also, we got extra food since the manager prepared specialty food plus extra desserts on our second night at this dining room. THANK YOU SOO MUCH! You are 5/5 or 10/10 :) Entertainment/Activities: 5/5 There were so many activities to choose from (i.e. games, shows, fitness exercises, sports tournament, rock climbing, etc). Some of the things I wanted to do were scheduled at the same time so I had to choose which ones I would enjoy the most. However, those activities you were not able to do on the other day, they were offered in different days as well so you have the option to do them. Live music, dancing, parades, movies, shows were excellent (can't complain about it). Overall great experience. Service: I have mentioned earlier that we received excellent service so that's a 5/5 Ports and Shore excursions: I LOVE THEM ALL! Rating 5/5 in Costa Maya (Chacchoben and beach tour) with Israel (sales - excellent and he accommodated us well, customer service was excellent, and very friendly), Joel (our tour guide - very informative and I learned so much from him; he's great), and Guillermo (tour driver - very good, made sure our trip was smooth and on timely manner). Rating 4/5 in Cozumel for Snorkelling (I think I'm not a fun of snorkelling for long periods of time especially the waves were strong, but experience was still good). It is nice to be on a cruise with beautiful facilities and accommodation, but it's the best experience and heartwarming when you have people on board who treat you like family. We treasure the experiences we had with Royal Caribbean International cruises (so far with Empress of the Seas and Navigator of the Seas). Our family did not just enjoy our wonderful experience with the our latest cruise with the Navigator of the Seas, but also the very good relationship that we have found with crew members to mention Jackson, Luciana, Mary Joy and the other male supervisor (sorry to forget his name but he is a very great person), all of them of the Sapphire Dining Lounge, are so awesome! Everyone were so professional, respectful and friendly. Our room attendants were all so great (we stayed at rooms 8653, 6259 and 6261), Jane and Chris of the Windjammer were so great too. Also Emely, who facilitated activities at Bolero and Schooner was so kind and fun. The entertainments at the theater were so fantastic. We also met Eileen at the Promenade cafe who is so kind. Dave Sibongo, the ship pianist, made us sing with by heart.Washy Washy, we love him. Of course, Cuddy, the ship director! He's so caring. Overall, it was so great! BACKGROUND I am writing this on the day we returned from the cruise, so everything is still pretty fresh on my mind. Our second cruise with Royal Caribbean was again outstanding. Our first was just my wife an I on a honey moon. We loved it and wished to go back with the family. This time, about 7 years later, was with my 2 small children, my parents, my brother, his wife and 3 children. Amazing experience overall. Loved it. Wish I had brought walkie-talkies to communicate. BOARDING We came from Fort Lauderdale on I-95, so we followed Google until we took exit 2D to I-395. This was key as Google told us to go through another way. We simply followed the signs for Port Miami through the Tunnel and got there easily. Once we arrived at the terminal, our bags were immediately taken by the terminal staff. Next we made our way through customs and checked into the ship. Even though my dad forgot his SeaPass print out, we were in the ship within 25 minutes of arriving. Which was very speedy in my opinion. CABIN The cabin was small, but they made great use of the space. I got the most inexpensive interior cabin, so I expected it to be small, however, we slept on the king size bed and my kids were each on their own bunk above the main bed. They loved it and so did we. FOOD Great food, both at the Windjammer and at the Main Dining Room. There was absolutely no need for the specialty restaurants, in my opinion. Vegetarian options for my wife, very actually very delicious as well. ENTERTAINMENT - SPORTS ACTIVITIES Very, very fun. Participated in 2 soccer tournaments and a ping pong tournament with my dad. Lots of fun and medals were awarded. It was competitive, but not rough or professional. Also played basketball with him and a fellow cruise goer on the first night. Rock climbing was fun for my wife and I, and FlowRider was very fun as well. ENTERTAINMENT - CHILDRENS' ACTIVITIES Not great on this ship for us. The arcade was high priced and over in the blink of an eye. Also, we don't really like leaving our kids with anyone, especially someone we do not know. I do wish there were more family oriented activities for families with small children. I know the Liberty of the Seas has H2O Zones, but this one does not, which was a bummer. ENTERTAINMENT - SHOWS Didn't really go to too many shows. Ice skating show on the first night, and a "Minute to Win it" like show. Both were good. Went to to other 'talks' or giveaways, which turn out to be sales pitches. Waste of time. STAFF Outstanding in every way. Friendly, courteous, and genuinely want to make you happier while on the cruise. Some fellow cruise-goers were rude, especially with the staff, the kind of people that have never had a service job. Unfortunately, these people also have to be served. Yet the staff still does their best to give you a memorable experience. SPA The SPA hot stone massage was phenomenal. My dad had knots on his back and had pain and difficulty moving his neck. During the massage was quite painful, but after, he felt like a new man. He enjoyed the cruise with a new way. It was a bit pricey, at $208 + service fee for 75 minutes, but it was worth every penny seeing my dad enjoy the rest of the cruise. EXCURSIONS Cozumel was a let down from last time, partially because of the weather. It was cloudy and very windy. So much so that many excursions were cancelled because of the wind. This time we didn't go on the Cruise excursion, but decided to have a tour guide take us to different places. For 11 people, it was definitely less expensive, but also was not that great. The taxis were cutthroat. It went from $200 for a taxi for 4 hours, to $120 and they tell you to keep it quiet so you think you're getting a good deal. It's best to go directly to the taxi instead of the guys standing trying to sell you the service as they simply refer you to the taxi and get a commission. The places there weren't great. We saw the ruins, which was an OK experience. The tequila place was also just OK. Everybody is trying to sell you something and you can always cut the price by at least half. Less of an experience, and more of a everyone trying to make a buck. I guess it is what it is. Costa Maya was much different. The prices were great, the experience was great. We simply went to the public beach by the ferry ride ($3/person) and then just reserved a bed literally on the shore. We ordered (virgin) drinks and just relaxed in the sun, went in the beach, and my mom got a massage. The massage was very sub-par, but what do you expect for a $20/hour massage? It was very nice, and we were back on the ship for lunch. DISEMBARKATION Had a small issue with having towels left from the day before which we were charged $25/towel for. There looked to be a problem in the system, but at the end the towels were returned and the charges taken off. The bags were taken the night before at 11 PM and we left the room shortly before 8 AM. We had breakfast, had a small family worship in the chapel, and off we went to our area to leave the ship. From the time we were called to the terminal were about 20 minutes or less. So baggage claim, customs, and walking were less than 20 minutes. Super impressive. Very organized. OVERALL Overall, we loved the experience, and were already planning our next cruise. It will most likely be on the Freedom or Oasis as they offer more children-oriented things. Read Less

Had to pay extra to eat at the other restaurants on the ship. The drink package cost was to expensive. I traveled with 7 other adults and we were bored. We seen a couple shows but the activities on the boat was not all that great. The ports was just shopping, no beach. You had to pay again for a ride to a beach. I wanted to hit the beach and get some sun not pay someone to take me there Im at a port with water everywhere. I don't think I will be going on another cruise if this is the way it is on other cruises. I could paid less and just went to Florida beaches. I hope they read these reviews. Read Less

I booked this cruise back in June 2017 for sailing in January 2018. I found a great deal on the Royal Caribbean website and told my friends. It was a 48 hour sale and a bunch of us ended up booking the cruise, in total it was 19 adults and 6 kids. This was my first experience on Royal Caribbean. In the past 13 months, I travelled on Holland America and Silversea with my father. I'm in my early 30s, single and not married. I planned to share an interior cabin with my roommate. About a month later, another friend asked to share our room and we switched to an interior room with pullmans. We live in South Florida, about an hour away from the Port of Miami. We left our house around 10:30am on embarkation day and arrived about 11:30am. We dropped our bags off with the porters and 4 of us waited at the terminal, while 2 people parked the car in the cruise parking garage. We previously discussed parking offsite but decided that we would just split the cost of parking and enjoy the convenience of parking at the port. It took about 10 minutes for us all to meet up again to enter the terminal. We entered the terminal about 11:45am. We had to show our SetSail passes and passports to enter. Then we went through security where they checked our carryons, there were no lines to enter or security. Then we proceeded to check in. We went to the Gold line since we had previous cruisers. There were about 3 groups ahead of us in line, be we got to an agent within 5 minutes. Some of our friends we saw outside the terminal went to the regular line. It took them about 20 minutes. We all boarded the ship together and went straight to the Windjammer. It was about 12:15pm. One of my friends went directly to the fitness center. Although busy, we were able to find a table for 6. As we finished lunch, they made an announcement that the staterooms were now available. That was about only a couple of minutes before 1pm. We went to the cabin and found it pretty roomy despite it being an interior cabin for 3 adults with suitcases. I knew I needed to lower my standards since my last couple cruises were in suites with rooms more than double the size. We all found the rooms to be quite adequate in terms of storage space and size, but we spent very little time in the rooms during the day. I will say that the WORST part of the cruise was the MATTRESS. It wasn't just a little uncomfortable. It was the worst that ever slept on. It was actually painful to rest on my side. I started to sleep on top of the comforter and it helped slightly. The ship itself appears to be in good condition. I enjoyed most of the bars and venues on board. I did not spend much time on the pool deck because it was windy and chilly, which is not uncommon for this time of year. Plus I'm from Florida so I didn't feel the need to go to the pool. The hot tubs were very crowded though because the pools were cold. Also, I felt that the ship never seemed too crowded. There also weren't tons of kids since winter break was over. I really enjoyed the activities director, Daniel, and activities staff member Carlos. They were both hilarious. I went to both adult comedy shows and The Quest. I found them to be entertaining. The Disco Inferno was awesome. You have to get to trivia very early since it is held in the Schooner bar and it's not very big. Tables fill up 15 minutes before. The food wasn't amazing in the Main Dining Room and especially the Windjammer. I enjoyed my meals in the MDR, but I only went to Windjammer for breakfast if possible. I went to lunch a couple times and was not impressed. I did make myself a nice cheese plate before dinner. The best dining venue is Sabor. The margaritas are included in the deluxe package and were fabulous. I had 3 at dinner! We had 10 people at dinner in Sabor and they brought us out everything on the menu to sample. I also had sushi at Izumi that was very good and did the sushi making class. It was worth the money since you got a lot of sushi for your money. Brasserie 30 in the MDR on sea days is the best spot for lunch! The service is great! I really enjoyed our room attendant and waiter in the MDR. The bartenders were all excellent too. It was so easy to get a drink all of the time. We got our drink package for $41/day plus 18% gratuity about 3 months in advance during a sale in cruise planner. It was worth the money!! Our cruise went to Costa Maya and Cozumel. We did not prebook any excursions. My friends did the adventure park in Costa Maya. There are a bunch of places to book excursions when you get off the ship. I walked around the port area. I was disappointed with the "tex-mex" food options, since I wanted authentic food. There isn't anywhere else to go besides the port. It was fun to walk around and explore. Our ship was the only one in port. In Cozumel, we walked off and rented a 15 passenger van from Hertz (note that the cars are manual shift). It cost about $200. We drove to the San Gervasio Mayan ruins. It was a 30 minute drive on very well paved roads. It cost $9.50 to see the ruins. We drove around the island a bit before going back to the ship. Our friends had kids and they were in Adventure Ocean during the evenings. We had the 8pm MDR dinner. The ones that were 5 and younger usually ate in the Windjammer and then went to Adventure Ocean and one went to the Nursery (23 months). The kids ages 6-9 ate dinner in the MDR and one of their parents would drop them off at Adventure Ocean and come back. They ordered the kids' meals as soon as we sat down and they usually came by the time we had appetizers. They nursery closes at 12AM, but time has to be reserved in advance. Only one time they had to pick up at 11pm, but they were able to get time each evening. Adventure Ocean has babysitting from 10pm-2am. They were usually asking to go to Adventure Ocean so they didn't have to sit with us through dinner. There aren't many, if any, activities for children in the evening except in Adventure Ocean. I also got a spa service when we were in Costa Maya. I did the special for $129 for 75 minutes which included a 50 minute Swedish back massage, facial, back exfoliation, and scalp massage. The specials are only advertised on port days in the daily compass. I would go again, but I would read reviews about the beds for the ship. I enjoyed everything else about the cruise. I would also skip the Windjammer for all lunches since I really didn't like it. It's perfectly fine for breakfast though. Read Less

We were a group of 13 people, traveling together for the New Year's cruise on RCCL Navigator of the Seas. From the moment we checked in, we were disappointed in the service we received. While our cabin was beautiful, and our concierge was very accommodating, the whole cruise experience was disappointing and stressful. From dinner on the first night (our dinner table was occupied by other passengers, and the cruise line had a hard time finding a place for us to eat dinner,) to the poor quality of food in the main dining room (NY strip steak was inedible, not even sure it was beef.) This was our second RCCL cruise in 2017. We had cruised in July to Alaska with our kids and grandkids. The cruise line did not confirm our return flight with the airline, and it was cancelled, leaving us stranded in Anchorage, AK. Repeated calls to the cruise line did NOTHING -- the recording stated to contact the airline. The airline said they could not do anything, as the cruise line purchased the ticket and needed to confirm. BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR AIRFARE FROM RCCL. We ended up buying ANOTHER plane ticket to return home, at a premium price, of course. We have called and emailed the cruise line multiple times, but still have not had a response or a refund for the unused flights. We will not cruise on Royal Caribbean again. Ten years ago, they were wonderful, but poor management, probably starting at the top, has brought this cruise line down. Read Less

Cruise was sold out, meaning there were lots of lines for most everything. Ship was the biggest one we've ever sailed on (10+ cruises). Had two rooms that weren't next to each other, which was our own fault for reserving rooms rather late. We are cheap cruisers, so we don't ever use the spa or specialty restaurants. Pros: Wait staff (Radmir and Oleksii) were exceptional in main dining room. Our balcony room (8416) was the most forward one on the 8th floor, with a plexiglass window that looked forward. A very nice touch that made it seem less claustrophobic as a balcony. Room staff (Siri) was attentive and took great care of us. Food was great, loved the variety. The comedian the first two nights was very funny, as was the juggler. Embarkation was swift and well run, though to be honest, a guide thought we were diamond members so we got to stand in the shorter line. Cons: Our promenade room 7257 was small and very noisy on party nights. It was great for people watching, but was at the very end of the promenade, making it difficult to see the whole thing. Not much of a shore excursion selection as the cruise only had two shore days. We did go to a beach/mayan ruins excursion in cozumel, and got lucky as it was the only day where it was truly warm enough for the beach. Debarkation was slow, there were computer issues. We had to stand outside while they figured some stuff out, it was around 40 degrees in Miami that day so it was pretty uncomfortable. Not sure the terminal was at all heated. Would we go again? Probably not. I did enjoy the new years eve party, but it was pretty darn crowded, and not worth the extra money (it was an expensive sailing due to the NYE date) Many of our complaints/problems, though, were due to things beyond RC's control, like the weather and the fact that the earlier hurricane season had forced many cruises and cruisers to the western Caribbean vs the eastern one.
