The ship is great for you if you like to sit around most the day doing nothing but reading books or listening to poor songs on the radio. The ship has scarce entertainment, mostly starting late night (10:30,11:30) and to be honest it isn’t worth staying up for. You get corny comedians quoting jokes from every generic comedy show, tribute shows that are absolute cringeworthy, overall the entertainment is very poor and it is not a lot to be missed if you choose to not go like I have the last few days. Out of the 7 days I sailed, 3 of those the swimming pools were out of order due to maintenance and when they were back up and running they were absolutely stone cold, nobody was going in them due to the temperature of the water. The food in the “main dining room” is the same stuff you’d get in the self serve buffet, all that is different is the fancy presentation, the unacceptable wait times and the main difference, the food is cold when you have it in the main dining room. As for the “shopping mall” you get 3 shops, selling overpriced perfumes, watches and other overpriced gimmicks such as hoodies and caps (utterly stupid merchandise) there are no shops where you can buy refreshments or snacks, no off duty shops to purchase anything. It is abismal. The atmosphere feels like that of what I imagine the titanic to be like during the descent into the ocean, it feels as if we are all sailing to our impending doom, everyone is miserable, it is honestly the worst experience I have had in a long time. The ship is unsafe, my partner got trapped in a “sensored” door which shut on here abruptly as she was walking through (this is being taken further one off the ship) which led to sitting in the medical room for a couple of hours. I will never be returning to this cash grab of a ship, I feel like the company is more concerned about extracting all the pennies they can out of you whilst on board instead of actually putting anything together to entertain you whilst you are with them. Considering you pay them all the money, we then had to fork out €70 for a shuttle bus, every other cruise liner organised these things for you. Royal Caribbean are a joke and they do not deserve the money they ask for, go with other cruise liners you will get a lot more value for your money and feel appreciated instead of feeling like a walking piggy bank that the company will try to shake out every last penny from you. It was a family cruise foe Eleven of us. The Ship was lovely and the staff were real friendly. Myself my partner and 14 year old daughter in cabin, was quite small not a lot of space when they put the sofa bed down. My brother had an inside cabin with his wife and 2 daughters of 14 and 16, not enough space to swing a cat, really not suitable for a family room as they call it,o.k if your kids are 3 and 4 maybe. Be prepared to pay for your coach or bus transfer into the towns.a family of 4 can expect another 100 euros plus on top. Make sure you have a drinks package because the drinks are an extortionate price. if you have a room on deck ten be prepared for early morning call of people scrapping deck chairs and trolleys above you, also be prepared for the gangs of kids that think its fun to run up and down the corridors shouting and screaming knocking and kicking and ringing bells late at night.oh and on the last night they find it amusing to rip all your luggage labels off your bags, and lust basically run riot.please do not expect security to do anything they are totally inept at dealing with them. They are more interested in stopping anyone getting on the ship carrying any water or wine or spirits.my elderly parents were left traumatised and had their cruise totally ruined by the constant problems with kids. wouldn;t travel withrcc again stick with P.O. a class above. Family celebration with a total of 11 adults and children. Several had more, some less cruise experience. Started off with having to call because of candy wrappers, and crumbs on couch and near full windows of our suite. Luggage did not arrive until after 9 p.m.. Main dining was very good (our attendants were excellent!). Buffet was the worst, food cold, was generally not good quality and we quickly ate all meals in the main dinning room. Entertainment was fair although never went to some events (ice skating for example) because of limited times and overcrowding. We had several smaller kids who with adults went to the game area which had no cruise supervision and my wife was knocked down by teenagers running thruout the area. Estimate 25% of games were out of order. Used childcare with average results. Honfleur/Deauville shore excusion was 3 out of 5. Honfleur was pleasant town with nice presentation. Deauville was a drop-off for an hour with no recommendation where to visit or background. Galicia Cellare tour - have been on several winery tours and all were excellent. We drove 2 1/2 hours to winery. We walked to entrance and waited for a few people who needed assistance and people asked questions about the grapes. It was mentioned they were in the process of bottling the wine but never saw the inside and were escourted to an area for wine tasting and where to buy product. Probably 45 min in total. Drove another hour to small town where no background was given and were told to come back in an hour. All the way back the guide complained about the US even though he was wearing his Nike shoes and apparel (he had never been to the US). Rate 1 of 5. We also took an independent tour of Lisbon with We Hate Tourism group. Will review then at another time. Took the Galley tour our second to last day. They were very specific - no open toe shoes and we will teach everyone how to wash their hands like the crew. Over 30% had open toe shoes, no one washed their hands and observed at least 3 times crew handling food without gloves. The chef? who did the tour spoke so soft no one could hear most of his presentaion. Our special lunch afterward was the worst of the week in terms of food and service. Rating 1 of 5 We carried our luggage off of the ship. We got in line to take a taxi to the train station which was a mile away to go to Gatwick. The driver said there was no train but he could take us for 300 pounds. This was confirmed by the port authority individual standing there. I guess they were working together. I told him to take me to the station where there was of course many trains going to Gatwick. I sent my concerns to R/C and have waited over a month with no answer, thus I have submitted this review. Seventh cruise with RCCL and second on Navigator. Crew excellent as usual, but seemed overworked? Dining room was excellent, so saw no need to go to speciality restaurants. Windjammer usual Windjammer, although sweets and meats fewer? Did not try for a sunbed as by 0930 they were covered in blue towels, and stayed that way.Something needs done about hogging the beds. The ship itself really needs refurbishment. Our balcony cabin deck 8 was very clean and kept donut the fabrics and fittings are faced and worn. There seems to be a combination of sell sell sell and more of the same in the Street The dining room etiquette has gone to the dogs, anything goes on any night especially formal evenings. If you wear smart casual or formal chances are that your eating companions will be interested shirt shorts and flipflops with optional baseball cap !!! Royal Caribbean are a great cruise line and I am due to go again with them, they are lucky that the crew are excellent in dining room and cabin cleaning and that they try everywhere to give good service. BAD POINTS Cabin - misleading description and dated Entertainment - very poor overall Seating for party of 5 almost impossible especially in entertainment venues On board prices - ludicrous Return journey deliberately made slower , if normal speed had been maintained it would be possible to fit in another stop . Lied to us about a compensation agreement and have even changed it again since . Very dissapointed overall as have always praised RC Going back to P&O for next cruise Not worth booking with RC again even with compensation voucher as we would have to spend almost double just to get a few quid knocked off . RC seem to have made everything about money rather than quality . Again , very dissapointed . GOOD POINTS The majority of the general Staff were excellent , The food was amazing as always and Dining Staff were phenomenal . Big Thank you to them Read Less

Our 3rd cruise with RC but this time with extended family. We love the informal feel of this company and had an amazing time however the choice of food in the main dining has got more restricted each time. The waiter did say we could ask for things not on the menu but when my daughter asked for Salmon and rice she was told that wasn't on the menu for tonight! Although the headline entertainment acts have changed the events/ entertainment on each of our previous cruises is identical e.g. Circus parade and best of British. Also, no adult only areas/bars. I don't want to listen to your tired, whingy child at 11pm thank you. The Cosmopolitan club says no children after 10pm but this is not enforced. This time we did our own thing on shore and that worked well for us loved Cagliari, Cadiz and Lisbon. We were quite a walk from the town centre in Palma and I refuse to pay 40 euros to get 4 people in to town. This was an overnight and on reflection it may have been better to hire a car. Read Less

This was our first cruise and we loved it. Royal Caribbean staff were all very good and focused on ensuring we had a great time. We arranged our own travel to and from the ship which went well. The check in process was fairly seamless inc our bags being taken from back of taxi to our cabins so we could immediately enjoy and explore the ship. The cabins (spacious ocean views) did feel spacious. We were on deck 9 and right at the front of the ship which was great for seeing where we were. Dining experiences in the main dining room were on the whole superb. We didn’t see the value in paying for speciality restaurants. The ports were good with highlights being Lisbon ( the RC Land and Water excursion was superb), Cadiz ( we simply walked off the boat and had a lovely walk along the promenade and then through the narrow city streets - a beautiful city), Gibraltar ( don’t pre book - we simply paid a taxi driver for a 90 min tour of rock and caves and then were dropped back in town. Much cheaper) & Palma ( we did RC Drach Caves tour which was very good). The shuttle bus is a rip off! 20 euros each to get you out of the port!. We thought Sardinia was very shabby and wouldn’t return. Finally, we did RC tour to Guadalest in Alicante which was very pretty. The post booking info could be better and would be the main thing I would want improved. You get a link to log into cruise planner which has options to buy things like drinks package that we had already bought. The information for cruise virgins was poor, especially when you then watch information on tv on the ship that explains all the things you wanted to know before you left! Read Less

Food and Shows are getting worse over time... Don’t do this cruise if you have kids. I would spend the extra money and go Disney. The shows were dated and there were several days with comedians which were boring... Excursions were not worth the price payed. Everything is very rushed as some ports have 6 hrs before you have to back on the boat and driving to the loacation takes about an hour. While on the boat, despite confirmation that my child who turned three ball on the cruise would be able to go to the Kids camp was refused admission because their was too many kids and the boat didn’t have enough staff.... they should know this and plan before the ship leaves port!! The room staff is still helpful and kind and do a good job. Overall this cruise is underwilming if you have been on cruises before. It really shows that Royal is putting a lot of energy into the new big boats and has forgotten about the small and medium size boats. Read Less

I had done my homework on Royal Caribbean and overall was very happy with the 2 weeks on board, the food and staff especially were the stand out features closely followed by top class entertainment each evening, my only negatives were the prices for the excursions which I found too high, the drinks packages were also very expensive, I didn't like the fact you couldn't buy 1 alcohol package especially as my wife doesn't drink, the only way to get this would of ben to provide a doctors note, this was very disappointing, all inclusive could mean that which would of made this a 10/10 holiday. The times in port could of been longer, especially Rome, for me I would of preferred an overnight in Rome and missed one of the other ports, every day was a bit of a rush, but it is a fantastic way to see so many different places. Finally we met some lovely people, some of which we will keep in touch with, this made the holiday that bit more special. Read Less

This was first cruise, and we didn't really know what to expect. But we were blown away! All the staff were fabulous, friendly and helpful. A few people had said the ship looked tired .....WHERE? We thought it was amazing. The food was fantastic in the main dining room and excellent in the wind jammer. We did prefer breakfast in the dining room just as it was easier to be seated and a nicer surrounding. We had one evening in Chops Grille which was very nice and worth the extra money. We also had a night in Jonny Rockets ... didn't rate this very much though, at $10 per head, food is better in the wind jammer. We decided to upgrade to all inclusive drinks package after much debate 3 weeks before our cruise and glad that we did. It was just much easier, we ordered anything we liked and just showed our card. I feel we drank more than usual because we had paid for it, however we would definitely buy the drinks package again. The kids had the soda package which was great as they could get a drink when they wanted and didn't have to keep finding us to ask for one. We were at the front of the ship deck 12 with floor to ceiling window, great view. I don't think we would ever pay for a balcony as your not in your room enough. We had 2 rough days at sea, but to be honest it was no better on the lower decks so don't let your position of your cabin put you off. We went to the gym which was fully kitted out so worth taking your gym kit. We have 2 boys age 12 and 13 ...... we hardly saw them! They were off at the teen club everyday. 5 Nights they didn't even eat with us as they have teen dining and all go together. They loved the Flowrider and spent most their time there. We were lucky as there were only 30 teens on the ship so when they were on the flowrider there would be only maximum of 6-8 people queuing to do it. On one day the boys had it to themselves for a whole hour ... fabulous! Overall we would definitely go on another cruise and we would definitely go with Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

cabin 6298 is opposite a main cleaning storage cupboard where all the room attendants congregate. It is extremely noisy here from early in the morning and in the afternoon. I wouldn't recommend this room. The room was clean and well maintained. The food in the main dining room for breakfast was chaos queues out the door waiting for a seat every morning for a good 15 mins. Then table staff moaning about how many people they had served that morning. Service was not good. We gave up after 2 mornings. Main dining room evenings food was hot and good choices. Windjammer was pot luck depending on what you chose whether it was barely warm or very hot. The food was tasty though when it was hot and we never had a problem getting seated. The ports of call were good and the beaches within walking distance were lovely. I was involved in an incident in the casino while playing roulette where the ball flew out of the roulette wheel at great seed and hit me in the face. The pain was excruciating and meant i couldnt enjoy the ship activities or drinks for a few days as it also effected my neck too. Rather and be supportive Royal Caribbean made me feel like a criminal refusing access to any reports either from the ships safety officer or the casino or access to the video. At a meeting in a tiny room i was surrounded by male officers standing over me behind and to the side in front of the exit doors while a male officer sat opposite me being very blunt and intimidating. When i asked if they had ever seen the ball fly out at such speed before he said arrogantly dozens of times! So my point is why are there no signs up warning of this. It was only about 4 inches from my eye. I have played in casinos for years and never seen it happen ever. When they refused to let me see the video i asked if they could tell me if i turned me neck quickly in a reflex action to stop the ball hitting me directly in the face and thats why it caught me right on the jaw line or whether the force of the ball hitting me is what made my head jerk back. They ignored my requests for this info so now i am back i have no idea what to say to any medical people if i need further treatment. I am a loyal cruiser with RCC and a VIP in the casino. I was given no point of contact for Miami nor did any staff call my room to check on me. Beware if you have an incident as it seems you are at fault and not them. Read Less

We had previously cruised on the Navigator in 2016 and enjoyed it (13 Nights), despite the ship looking a little jaded in places, but the shows and the itinerary made up for the condition of the ship. However in 2017 the ship looks a little rougher, but the shows are identical and the staff are just not interested in being polite and happy. The itinerary had been cut by 3 port days, which meant that there was 5 days at sea and 5 days in port, on the 5 days at sea, 2 of them where crossing the Bay of Biscay, so that wasn’t great, but we knew it would be so, however we were not prepared for such a worn out mattress on our bed, which made the crossing harder, due to the mattress being uncomfortable to start with. We asked for it to be changed, only to find it had been "padded" with towels, which made the hot nights unbearable. Overall this cruise had less days, a shorter itinerary, for more money! The bar service was very slow in some areas. Could have been much better. Read Less

There is a definite decline of RCCL cruises out of Southampton. Without sounding a snob these cruises appear to becoming holiday centres like Butlins and Pontins on board a large cruise ship. We experienced smoking, very bad language and at times drunkenness in the casino and some bars. There were also charges put on our account that were incorrect, these were corrected when challenged, but continued for 3 days. When asked that if these hadn’t been questioned would we have been charged for them. The remarkable answer was a definite YES. The ship is very nice and found the waiters to be excellent, The cabin steward was 100% however the guest relation desk was somewhat questionable in their friendliness and manner. I have to say that I have been on several cruises mostly with Royal Caribbean and have noticed each time there appears to be a downward trend in the standard which I came to expect from this cruise line and therefore will be unlikely to cruise with them again especially as I reached their Diamond standard. I have filled in the comment questionnaire outlying the above comments however I’m confidently they will do nothing about it especially as some remarks are not very complimentary. Read Less

the restaurant services were excellent in all regards especially when dealing with allergies. even the bars had workarounds even though there were few of them though do remember for those who have severe allergies that "CC" Cross contamination" is a thing and is hard to avoid especially under these conditions I'd suggest bringing a liquid variant to Piriton with your times. i mean i got CC once for gluten and had to spend the rest of he day in bed unable to do anything because of some pineapple or somebody did not wash there hand ect... and my joints aches for 3 days more on top of that. now on to the packages that they offered i suggest you stick to the water one as that should be enough they have many things to offer though stay away from the "arcade" they have there it is not very good and is a lot of hassle if anything goes wrong in there other than that the jacuzzis (whirlpools) were nice i would also suggest checking out the hot room next to the sauna in the gym section. or the flow rider surfing simulator they have available. The below section is a rebuttal against the one thing i found wrong with the ship i am only saying this so save you the same fate: WARNING I REPEAT DO NOT buy there over priced pictures packages advertised as "professional" they are a COMMERCIAL people with DSRL cameras no tri-pods and no idea how to use them . Confusing the zoom part of a lenses for the aperture (the bit with the numbers) leading to smiley faces and out dated poses along with massive warping of any pictures foreground and back ground as well as slightly above subtle over and under exposing on there photos exorbitant prices. I took better pictures on my phone camera you know the sad thing is i am not over exaggerating on this part (samsung 2016 modle) on manual. which has no precision compared with DSLR camera. my suggestion take you own camera if you know how to use one to save you self a lot of money. ------ over all 8/10 would go again would not pay form pictures or drink (alcohol package or wifi) to save money good ride had lots of fun and mostly good memories Read Less

We chose this because we live within driving distance of Southampton. Embarkation went really smoothly. Heard some comments that the platinum / diamond / pinnacle lines weren't selective, but the queues were quick to get through and the staff very helpful. The ship took some exploring - the promenade area is a real visual treat. Our cabin was great for what we wanted and really appreciated the balcony for some space to sit. Dining was brilliant - we shared a table with 2 other families, one of whom left after the first evening for a table to themselves. We got on really well with the other family and it was a real pleasure to sit and chat each evening. The waiter and his assistant were amazing - the assistant waiter (Manuel) kept us entertained each night with tricks and puzzles. Our main waiter, Bapusaheb, was softly spoken but really attentive and we couldn't have asked for better staff. We tried the windjammer for a few meals but eventually, after struggling to find a table for 4 of us each time, decided that we would stick to the Sapphire (MDR) for all our meals - the a la carte breakfast was wonderful as was the buffet and many days we didn't end up needing lunch, but if we fancied something the salad selection in the MDR was perfect. The nightly entertainment was great - some real surprises. We had a Queen tribute band, singers, dancers, comedians, a ventriloquist and a hypnotist on different nights and then most evenings we ended up in the Cosmopolitan bar for karaoke each evening. Our shore excursions were through cruiseexcusions.com and they were really good. We tried one of the explorer buses in Genoa (the red hop-on, hop-off ones you see everywhere) but regretted it so after that did our own thing with taxis and walking - would really recommend the idea of a taxi up the hill to wander back down especially in Malaga and Lisbon. (Memo to self - don't walk up the rock in Gibraltar on your own; get a taxi next time!) Children's clubs - our 10 year old attended the relevant one for his age (9-11) on the first night but felt it was a little 'babyish' fr him so didn't go back. My 13 year old eventually made friends with some others and did some of the teen stuff - very selective and enjoyed what they did do. Overall we felt this was our best family holiday we had had and will definitely be back on the seas at some point in the future. Some tips: We didn't get the wifi packs and really didn't feel we missed the emails. Didn't get the drinks packs either - we would have never got through $65 a day in alcohol, coffee or soft drinks each, but we did have some occasional cocktails so didn't miss out. Speaking to others, what most people do is buy one full pack and another non-alcohol pack and share depending on who wants what when. I didn't take black tie for the formal evenings as I'd read on cruise critic that most people now don't dress up. I really regretted it as most people were in bow ties and dresses on the first formal night, so I hired a dress suit from the on-board tailor for the other 2 nights and t really made a difference. This particular cruise included a couple of destinations we had previously not visited and we wished to visit Rome again as a family. We have previously cruised with Royal Caribbean on Independence of the Seas. By comparison the ship did appear a little dated and in need of refurbishment/modernisation. We attended a number of performances in the Theatre some of which were excellent. In particular Gareth Oliver (ventriloquist) and David Knight (hypnotist) were exceptionally funny. We only used one shore excursion to Rome by train. This was well organised, on time and our guide Georgia was excellent. The food throughout the cruise was excellent but it was the level of service by our main waiter Boney (Table 427 - 8.30 sitting) which impressed the most and will be one of our abiding memories of this cruise. Ably assisted by his colleague Oshando, Boney was always polite, informative, attentive and helpful going the extra mile throughout. A very solid 10 out of 10 performance by Boney which made the every evening meal thoroughly enjoyable. We would like to pass on our great appreciation for all his efforts. Read Less

I usually feel the product delivered by RCI to be consistent and usually above average.I found one member of staff on this ship who actually smiled and engaged with me. Most members of staff, especially the bar staff, seemed miserable and lacking in any desire to serve. Usually I look forward to dinner in the main dining room but our waitress was so grumpy I felt like I was an inconvenience to her. I appreciate this ship is one of the older vessels and that it does not make financial sense to invest money in it now but there were obvious signs (literally the metropolis theatre sign was missing two letters) that this ship needed some attention. Bad smells, poor air conditioning in our room, wardrobe door hanging off. I am sure you are aware that some of the older ships do not get the investment that the newer ones do and I also see that that is reflected in the price but it felt at times that the basics were missing. I had such a wonderful time on the independence last october and that is also one of the older vessels so I know that it can be achieved. The good time I had on that ship was largely down to the wonderful staff we had ( CD Jamie fentiman and AM katy McCullagh were exceptional) I felt the CD on the navigator cuddy cuddleson and his activities manager mark? were not up to the standard I have experienced before such as the aforementioned jamie fentiman and also joff eaton who is always exceptional. I also had a CD called Mercedes a few years ago and she was wonderful as well. I really could go on and on about all the things on the Navigator that I feel are substandard but I really do not have the time, I love RCI and will continue to cruise with them but I feel I will avoid the older ships as I don't think the effort is put in there. This cruise was booked as a large family holiday, there were 16 of us in total with ages raging from 20 months to 78 years old. There's plenty for the kiddies to do and at the same time, the adults can just relax. The entertainment this year was ok, not as good as when we were on the Navigator last year but still ok. I felt as though we spent a long time on the ship this time, the stops in Spain & Portugal weren't really long enough. Our stateroom was a nice size, perfect for the 2 of us and we had a window to see out onto the Promenade. The main dining room was just amazing food and service wise, everything was presented well and you didn't need to ask for anything as the waiters were always one step ahead. I would definitely travel on the Navigator of the Seas again, she's a beautiful ship with plenty to do on board for everyone. Read Less

This is the 3rd time of cruising with RC and for the 3rd time not disappointed at all. The ship was kept so clean and sparkling. The Cruise Director Cuddy was such a big and friendly character in every way. The dining staff, Douglas and Diogo in the Sapphire Dining Room were always smiling and very hospitable and the food was tip-top. Our room attendant Wayan was so dedicated to keep our room clean. We were not bored at all as there was something constantly going on throughout the day. The theatre shows were entertaining especially Gareth Oliver and his wife, ventriloquists with a difference! Very funny and so quick witted. Hilary O'Neil and the Beatles Celebration were excellent entertainment also. Embarking and disembarking was so slick and hassle-free. I am booked on this ship again in October and really looking forward to Sunshine in the Canaries. Thank you RC for a wonderful de-stressing break. Read Less

We dined in the main resteraunt most of the time it was very good waiter service. The windjammer was fine for quick meals if you wanted to rush out to all the Activities and entertainment. Drinks were a good price but wished I had a drinks package but found they were expensive. The entertainment was great we went to a few shows and had a lot of laughs. The Activeties on board were excellent surfing, climbing wall were great and the staff running them were great very helpful with my 11 year old girl she wished she had more time to experiace them. We loved the swimming pools and hot tubs with the cinema outside. This was our first cruise we were defiantly spoiled on it and would love to cruise again. We are thinking of cruising again in the next year or two. Let's hope I can find the right package for the right price. Read Less

Oh dear. Royal Caribbean seem to have a 'squeeze every last dollar out of the customer' attitude and it spoiled our experience. This was our first cruise, and we would not sail with Royal Caribbean again, having spoken with many experienced cruisers whilst on board. It's not just about money, the daytime activities were pitiful, such as 'try on a watch event' in the watch store, 'guess the price of jewellery' in the jewellery store... the same things, day in, day out. Of the films shown, on deck throughout the 14 day cruise, were Psycho (1960) and ET (1982) and the rest were fillers, i.e. not exactly box office. Apart from 4 or 5 quizzes EVERY day, by often disinterested crew members there wasn't really any other free daytime activity on offer. There was ice skating, and crazy golf, and a rock wall, but not many over 65's want to do that. You could pay USD 80 for a tour of the ship though? Again, that's expensive per person. I must mention that some quiz hosts/entertainment staff, were fantastic, such as Dominic, engaging with and entertaining the cruisers, but for the most part the hosts were bored and showed it. Everyday, everywhere, even whilst dining in the buffet restaurant, you had crew members plugging the speciality dining experiences, the spa, the behind the scenes tours of the ship, the photography package. I must mention the price of packages too, Bingo packages were USD28 to USD58 for 4 games, photography package starts at USD80 for 5 poses(you can't just buy one photo), wifi package USD13 per day. The alcohol package was USD65 per person, per day, and applies to every day of your cruise, you can't dip in and out, so on a 14 day cruise, you must buy 14 days package or start it from day 3 and then have it for the whole cruise. Suffice to say we did buy drinks but these were USD9 for a bottle of bud or USD11 for a glass of wine so again, captive market that they thought they had, they tried to exploit... Many people go on cruises for food which we thought was just average and very hit and miss. We did alternate nights between the buffet and Sapphire dining room and although service was very good, the food in the main dining room was trying to be fine dining and was pub grub at best. While mentioning the restaurants, we saw a maximum of 8 people in any speciality restaurant so to us, these are wasted space onboard and as we and others could hardly get into the bars around the ship, they would be better converted to public areas for everyone to enjoy and ditch the ridiculously priced boutique shops on the Royal Promenade as well ! Overall the ship was beautiful, clean and comfortable, but the lack of activities or talks, or activities such star gazing, films, crafts etc, made the time drag when you were on board. I think RC should review what they call entertainment, and stop with the hard sell all the time., make the onboard costs of photos, tours a bit more realistic, then people might actually buy them. The evening theatre shows, were average at best, and certainly not 'West end' standard. They were dated, and some were circa 1970's. In future, cruising could well be something we enjoy but we would choose a Line which gives more bang for your buck and with someone who seems to care more about you and the overall experience than money. We cruised for 14 days but I was not as satisfied with this cruise as I was with some of the other cruise ships I have previously been on. The food in the windjammer was terrible! The only place to get a decent meal was the main dining room which was only opened for very limited hours. The staff was very nice though. I thought the entertainment was not that great. The comedy show was good but that is about all I can remember from the entertainment. I wish there would have been more activities going on through out the day to accommodate all ages but my husband and I actually found ourselves bored at times. This was my first time traveling with royal cruise line (Navigator of the Seas) and I was a little disappointed. As for the ports our favorite port was definitely Lisbon, Portugal. We found the people of France to be very rude and we were ripped off multiple times. Read Less
