The ship is great for you if you like to sit around most the day doing nothing but reading books or listening to poor songs on the radio. The ship has scarce entertainment, mostly starting late night (10:30,11:30) and to be honest it isn’t worth staying up for. You get corny comedians quoting jokes from every generic comedy show, tribute shows that are absolute cringeworthy, overall the entertainment is very poor and it is not a lot to be missed if you choose to not go like I have the last few days. Out of the 7 days I sailed, 3 of those the swimming pools were out of order due to maintenance and when they were back up and running they were absolutely stone cold, nobody was going in them due to the temperature of the water. The food in the “main dining room” is the same stuff you’d get in the self serve buffet, all that is different is the fancy presentation, the unacceptable wait times and the main difference, the food is cold when you have it in the main dining room. As for the “shopping mall” you get 3 shops, selling overpriced perfumes, watches and other overpriced gimmicks such as hoodies and caps (utterly stupid merchandise) there are no shops where you can buy refreshments or snacks, no off duty shops to purchase anything. It is abismal. The atmosphere feels like that of what I imagine the titanic to be like during the descent into the ocean, it feels as if we are all sailing to our impending doom, everyone is miserable, it is honestly the worst experience I have had in a long time. The ship is unsafe, my partner got trapped in a “sensored” door which shut on here abruptly as she was walking through (this is being taken further one off the ship) which led to sitting in the medical room for a couple of hours. I will never be returning to this cash grab of a ship, I feel like the company is more concerned about extracting all the pennies they can out of you whilst on board instead of actually putting anything together to entertain you whilst you are with them. Considering you pay them all the money, we then had to fork out €70 for a shuttle bus, every other cruise liner organised these things for you. Royal Caribbean are a joke and they do not deserve the money they ask for, go with other cruise liners you will get a lot more value for your money and feel appreciated instead of feeling like a walking piggy bank that the company will try to shake out every last penny from you. Family celebration with a total of 11 adults and children. Several had more, some less cruise experience. Started off with having to call because of candy wrappers, and crumbs on couch and near full windows of our suite. Luggage did not arrive until after 9 p.m.. Main dining was very good (our attendants were excellent!). Buffet was the worst, food cold, was generally not good quality and we quickly ate all meals in the main dinning room. Entertainment was fair although never went to some events (ice skating for example) because of limited times and overcrowding. We had several smaller kids who with adults went to the game area which had no cruise supervision and my wife was knocked down by teenagers running thruout the area. Estimate 25% of games were out of order. Used childcare with average results. Honfleur/Deauville shore excusion was 3 out of 5. Honfleur was pleasant town with nice presentation. Deauville was a drop-off for an hour with no recommendation where to visit or background. Galicia Cellare tour - have been on several winery tours and all were excellent. We drove 2 1/2 hours to winery. We walked to entrance and waited for a few people who needed assistance and people asked questions about the grapes. It was mentioned they were in the process of bottling the wine but never saw the inside and were escourted to an area for wine tasting and where to buy product. Probably 45 min in total. Drove another hour to small town where no background was given and were told to come back in an hour. All the way back the guide complained about the US even though he was wearing his Nike shoes and apparel (he had never been to the US). Rate 1 of 5. We also took an independent tour of Lisbon with We Hate Tourism group. Will review then at another time. Took the Galley tour our second to last day. They were very specific - no open toe shoes and we will teach everyone how to wash their hands like the crew. Over 30% had open toe shoes, no one washed their hands and observed at least 3 times crew handling food without gloves. The chef? who did the tour spoke so soft no one could hear most of his presentaion. Our special lunch afterward was the worst of the week in terms of food and service. Rating 1 of 5 We carried our luggage off of the ship. We got in line to take a taxi to the train station which was a mile away to go to Gatwick. The driver said there was no train but he could take us for 300 pounds. This was confirmed by the port authority individual standing there. I guess they were working together. I told him to take me to the station where there was of course many trains going to Gatwick. I sent my concerns to R/C and have waited over a month with no answer, thus I have submitted this review. This was our first cruise with RC. We chose this ship for the itinerary: ABC islands. Unfortunately, we could not dock in Aruba due to high winds, but hey, it's Mother Nature. No one really wanted to go to Nassau AGAIN....but at least the captain found us another port...HA! We arrived at the Miami port around noon. We were in our cabin by 1:30! Luggage did not come to our room until about 5:30 though. No worries, my daughter and I were having a Swedish massage in the spa. We both had an excellent experience and were not pressured to buy spa products. Make sure you book online before the cruise to get one of the better deals offered. The Spa staff was very nice. Our cabin steward, Peter, was VERY efficient. He brought ice every day and was able to secure an extra chair for our balcony. The bed was quite comfy, and the cabin was clean, but I did notice a musty odor from time to time so when my husband wasn't there to be the energy police, I opened the balcony door and let the sea breeze in for a few minutes. We ate on the 4th deck in MDR several nights. We had excellent service from our waiter, Hemanshu, and his assistant, Jaya. Overall, the food was hot but was not memorable for dinner. We enjoyed the Galley Tour/Bottomless Champagne Brunch in the MDR with our guide, Chef Scion Frame. He was great and everyone seemed to respect him. The food was delicious and we enjoyed talking to our table guests. We also enjoyed the MDR for lunch on sea days. We enjoyed the food in Windjammer for dinner more than eating in the MDR, even though we missed seeing Hemanshu and Jaya. While dining in the Windjammer, we were impressed that several "managers" came by to ask if our service and experience was good. We tried to go when they were not as crowded. I was not that impressed with Promenade Cafe and pizza. I ordered continental breakfast twice and room service was prompt and polite. We traveled April 13-22 and there were NOT many children and basically all college students were finishing up classes and getting ready for exams. My husband and I are retired school teachers, and our daughter is a pediatric dentist, so we were thrilled that there was only a small herd of tweens running around from time to time. The "older" crowd was very polite and well mannered ...except for, as mentioned by others, those selfish solarium slugs who stored their towels on the lounge chairs 24/7. My daughter said that the Solarium was where old people went to die...HA! Glad we had a balcony. As far as entertainment, we enjoyed the World Champion Ballroom dancers (husband and wife) who also taught people how to salsa; the comic; the comedian juggler was hilarious; young Elvis impersonator; and Las Vegas tenors. The NOS orchestra was fantastic, but the singers and dancers were average. The ice show was also impressive; be sure to get there early (people were lined up 45 minutes before). I was disappointed that there wasn't more line dancing and fun by the pool ...but I guess Carnival is the FUN ship---LOL! Indoor movies in Metropolis and outdoor movies were good....but NO POPCORN:( Overall, I thought the cruise director, Simona, did a nice job. Other info: Gym facilities were clean, but the staff were not very friendly the couple of times we were there...always talking on the phone or to each other. I wasn't super impressed with guest services or shore excursion staff. Photographers were not pushy and intrusive but their services were poor---kiosks/computers half worked and people lined up while staff "acted" like they were doing something. Kudos to the cabin stewards and food service folks---who despite their long work days, were always smiling and greeting us . Overall, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the ship considering the thousands on board. Based on previous reviews, I thought the ship would be in much worse shape. It is obvious that refurbishing is in process. I saw people painting and carpeting looked new. I saw "officers" walking around discussing renovations, too. We enjoyed a nice relaxing beach day on Labadee. We were off the ship and sitting under a palm tree on the bay side by 8:30. We quickly walked through the shopping area. And yes, don't go if you don't want to be harrassed a bit, but I certainly didn't encounter any "thugs" as someone else posted. In fact, the fellows we talked to were quite nice after we told them we weren't going to buy anything because we were trying to get rid of things in our house. They did manage a small purchase from our daughter though. We decided to return to the ship about 1:00 and eat in the Windjammer. If you want to avoid crowds and sunburn, getting up early is the way to go in Labadee. In Willemstad we just toured with one of the groups that you can't miss right when you get off the ship. For about $20 a person we had a three hour tour in a small bus with AC. The tour included a stop at the distillery. My only regret is that I didn't buy a bottle of Blue Curacao liqueur. We had very personable tour guides on both the bus and at the distillery. After the bus tour, we toured the Kura Hulanda Museum on our own. It was quite an experience. We paid a few dollars extra for a personal guide. OMG! We were there for about three hours ...and the museum is not that big. The guide was very detailed, and he kept saying that most people do not know the history of slavery, but we hung in there until the very end. I don't know if he spent that much time with us because we were the only people there or what, but his lecture was INTENSE. No need to tell him that my husband and I both taught history, but we respected his passionate perspective. After touring the museum, we walked across the Queen Emma Bridge and spent about 45 minutes window shopping before heading back to the ship. Our favorite port was Kralendijk. We liked the laid back atmosphere, friendly people, and less commercialized feeling there compared to Willemstad. We went on the Double Dip Snorkel excursion on the Sea Cow. I had tried to book this myself but was informed they were full. Then something miraculously was arranged through RC shore excursions and we snagged it. Although the day was cloudy, we had a delightful experience with Henk, Gea, and the gang. When we got back to the ship about 10:30 many people were just getting off. We showered, ate lunch, and then walked around town. We would definitely go back to Bonaire. We had no problem with debarkation because we were one of the many who carried off our own luggage. We left our room at 7:30 ---yes, the biggest problem was getting on the crowded elevator so we finally rode up to ride down to deck 4 for the mass exodus. We were off the ship by 8:30. The early bird gets the worm. Read Less

We have been on approximately 11 cruises, seven of which have been on RCCL. We chose this cruise because it was going to four places we had never been to before. We will remember this cruise for all the wrong reasons. While this cruise had a number of minor annoyances, the two major issues were the fact that the cruise to Aruba did not go to Aruba, and the snorkeling excursion in Bonaire did not permit us to snorkel. We purchased the shore excursion well in advance. One week before sailing, RCCL arbitrarily changed the minimum age for snorkeling, so my youngest son was not able to snorkel. We were told he could sit on the beach, but he would not be allowed to enter the water. The Aruba issue had to do with weather, and I understand ship safety, but this cruise was two years in the planning and was selected because of the destinations. I can live with the above issues, but the customer service I received after the cruise is what has really frustrated me. The goal of customer service is generally to diffuse these types of situations. Every time I spoke to someone I was left more agitated. The responses were almost robotic with no ability to relate to people. They have absolutely no appreciation for long time customers or the impact a bad experience can have on a family. I will not be sailing RCCL ever again. Related to the ship directly, here are some of my issues: No self-service soda machines. I had to wait at a bar every time I wanted a soda. When I asked about it, I was told by a bartender it was so we could get excellent service. My experience was that it had the exact opposite affect. Bad experience at the Windjammer. It was hard to get a table, and long lines for items cooked to order. I am an early riser, and I was surprised to find that the Windjammer did not open until 7:00 am on some days, but what was more frustrating was that the doors to the Windjammer and the main dining room never opened on time. It was often five to ten minutes after the scheduled opening time that doors actually opened. Not a lot to do for the kids. No water slides or kids aquatic area. My youngest son likes mini-golf. The course is in rough shape, and one morning it was littered with broken glass from an adult beverages. We had connecting promenade view staterooms. While you could not hear regular activity and traffic, you could hear major activity, such as when they were having shows in the promenade. Some kind of disco party kept us awake on night. Anyway, as I mentioned, we will not be cruising on RCCL again, but if we did, it would likely not be on the Navigator of the Seas. Read Less

This was our ninth cruise in the Caribbean; the entertainment on the ship was fine, a good crowd overall friendly and inviting. The meals in the dinning room were of decent quality with excellent service. The buffet was the same cheap offering daily low quality meats with cold "warm meals" it was the same offering every day with no change, although we found breakfast and the evening meal to be enough. All the ports were very good and the weather was great. The excursions we chose were well worth the money spent and we enjoyed each one. Our Balcony room was clean and well maintained. There are too many areas where "smoking" is permitted and it was a problem, On the pool deck area they allow smoking along the one side of the ship so if the wind is blowing the wrong way the smoke goes everywhere. There are bars where you can't walk by because the smoke is so heavy and the Casino in one large blue cloud of smoke with open entrance ways at each end where the smoke travels freely as well as the staircase up to the promonode where the smoke just wafts out to the cafe area. It seems that Royal Caribbean does not have a concern with the fact that " second hand smoke kills". Read Less

We were a group of 13 people, traveling together for the New Year's cruise on RCCL Navigator of the Seas. From the moment we checked in, we were disappointed in the service we received. While our cabin was beautiful, and our concierge was very accommodating, the whole cruise experience was disappointing and stressful. From dinner on the first night (our dinner table was occupied by other passengers, and the cruise line had a hard time finding a place for us to eat dinner,) to the poor quality of food in the main dining room (NY strip steak was inedible, not even sure it was beef.) This was our second RCCL cruise in 2017. We had cruised in July to Alaska with our kids and grandkids. The cruise line did not confirm our return flight with the airline, and it was cancelled, leaving us stranded in Anchorage, AK. Repeated calls to the cruise line did NOTHING -- the recording stated to contact the airline. The airline said they could not do anything, as the cruise line purchased the ticket and needed to confirm. BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR AIRFARE FROM RCCL. We ended up buying ANOTHER plane ticket to return home, at a premium price, of course. We have called and emailed the cruise line multiple times, but still have not had a response or a refund for the unused flights. We will not cruise on Royal Caribbean again. Ten years ago, they were wonderful, but poor management, probably starting at the top, has brought this cruise line down. Read Less

Charging for room service delivery is a disappointment. Coffee or something small on balcony was something I looked forward to. Entertainment was high school level at Best. Service was not as good as years past. RC has def cut back. Would NOT recommend this ship, but more importantly would not recommend Royal Caribbean to anyone. I would consider RC the Walmart of cruise lines. Carnival and Norwegian are with out question much better food, entertainment and value. Traveled with large group, waiter seemed inconvenienenced to get things, entertainment director is very low on talent and the shows and choice of shows was not good. Can’t say enough how disappointed I am, poor management has ruined this cruise line! Read Less

This cruise was chosen for us by our sons and family. It was to celebrate our 50th anniversary. They choose well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our servers in the Sapphire dining room, Amergail and Desran were wonderful. Staff in the Windjammer also, were friendly and nice. Kept keeping the tables clean and brought something you needed. Entertainment was very good as well. Housekeeper kept room clean and provided items we needed. Various options to participate in or watch. Dancing instructors were fun and helpful. Ice show was well done. Travis Cloer was entertaining. The 70’s show on the promenade was entertaining. Trivia programs were fun. Casino was okay, shops were clean and organized. Didn’t avail of purchasing anything but, they were nice. Off shore excursions were booked by family but, what we did was fun. Pool areas were very nice and plenty of staff for that and bars. Sporting areas wer very nice as well. Grandchildren used the Flowrider, basketball court, ice skating, etc. Embarkation was smooth. Disembarkation could have been a bit better. Needed an adjustment on our final bill. The customer service had a long line. Felt all ares should have been open that morning. It left us separated from our family. Overall a good experience. This was my first cruise and the whole experience was awful. Room was very dirty, moldy toilets, strong mold/mildew smell in cabin, air filter was black with mold, and the water in the room came out milky white. Trash was left in can and under bed. Spoke with front desk assistant manager and he was unwilling to help us or notify the Captain, it was 3:30am and multiple guests were sleeping in the lobby! Not once did any employee apologize for these issues. I was told there was nothing more for them to do other than offer us a 20% future cruise credit. That is unacceptable. The “food” if that’s what they call it in the Windjammer Café was cold and had an awful taste seems frozen and microwaved. The only decent meal we had was at Chopped. We were told by our servers you only get the “good food” on 7days or more not on the budget cruises. These are just the issues I experienced personally, my family who was on the ship with us had bugs in their room!!! ZERO accountability on this ship. It was unsafe and unlawful to be subjected to those conditions. I will NEVER be on a Royal Caribbean cruise ever again. EVER! Read Less

If you want to eat after 10 in the evening and want more then a roll or a burnt pizza. Entertainment was a joke the cruise director needs replacing. Example colouring by numbers as an afternoon entertainment. The cruise seemed to concentrate on people who were returning customers rather then new. Formal nights were a joke, you got dressed up to walk into the dining room for your evening meal which you had done the night before. no captain, no entertainment, nothing special at all. did not bother after the 1st one. If you Smoke you are normally allowed to smoke in casino. Not on this ship on formal days all day, weather was bad so could not go up on deck and had to use cigar room which had such poor extractors and stunk, In the casino ashtray was a floor standing one which staff emptied out the ashtrays from the slot machines into and never got emptied all day. Everyone i spoke to and me included had charges for services not used added to bills. AFter 8 days at sea managed to get 3 hours in Boston. Management of Immigration was a joke we should have been first a 6.30 with people on excursions ( instead approx 1500 in gue, emigration delayed .with people queuing for 3 or more hours, will not go on but all i will say is i saw people crying with boredom, This cruise turned into a prison sentence. so will i use again never twice crew members maimed to music on the bridge on the promenade and that was about as lively as it got. We chose this cruise after sampling a PandO cruise in May. we liked that so much that we wanted to go again soon - having a small child meant that we have to stick to school holidays and this cruise was the only one available. Even though it was October we thought there would be enough to do on board to make it enjoyable. How wrong we were. There was hardly anything to do away from the elements which did not cost large amounts of money. The cabin - compared to P and O - was shabby- a stained, tatty settee, scuffed furniture, lots of dust under the bed, tatty shower room. the rooms were not sound proofed sufficiently and there were constant tannoys encouraging you to come along and spend yet more money! compared to P and O we could not believe the cost of things on board - I do not mind spending money but I object to being fleeced. The restaurants: the main dining room was poor - luke warm food with little taste. The "cafeteria" was little better - and it was nearly impossible to find a table regardless of when you turned up. finally I became seriously ill with food poisoning on the second night and I am still suffering now - despite several staff being aware of this no one followed up on how I was. On a positive note the main dinning room staff and room staff were fantastic and cannot give them enough praise for making all our dining in the main dinning room and windjammers very enjoyable. As treat we did the chefs table which I could highly reccommed the food and wine were amazing and the waiter very knowledgeable in the wines that were provide and how they matched the food. First of all, I previously cruised with Royal Caribbean "Allure of the Seas", and it was so exhilarating, I was looking forward to cruising with their Navigator of the Seas. Alas, I was completely disappointed in my experience with this ship. Here are some of the reasons: 1. When the ship docked, there was no one to direct passengers to the gangway. Yes, there were signs posted on the walls, but when a whole crowd of people are in the hallway, the signs can't be seen, and there is a lot of confusion about which way to go - right or left. Some passengers, were even saying that the exit was at the other end of the ship. This same confusion and scenario repeated itself at subsequent ports. It would have been so simple if there was a staff member at, or near the elevators directing people to the exit door leading to the gangway. 2. All the poultry and fish in the main dining room and the Windjammer were overcooked. The gravest, culinary sin was the "Filet Mignon" in the Windjammer, which was way overdone, chewy, and quite ghastly. A hockey puck would have tasted better. 3. The majority of food was also over-salted, yet the scrambled eggs, omelets, etc. had no salt and were quite tasteless. 4. To be fair, the tastiest food on the Navigator of the Seas was the Italian food. This is not my favourite type of food, but it was the tastiest on this ship. 5. For those passengers who do not particularly like gambling or drinking, there were not enough other activities to keep one interested and entertained on this ship. A lot of the activities were quite boring, and too many of them ended up being sales pitches, and "buy", "buy", "buy" events. 6. The shows were amateurish, almost laughable compared to those on the "Allure of the Seas" (for example). They were lacking professionalism, polish and finesse, and they reminded us passengers of high school concerts that just don't quite make the grade. 7. A few times, the Dance Fit classes were scheduled to be held pool side, but because of inclement weather, the activity moved inside to the Cosmopolitan Club, and no announcement was made, so those of us who arrived a minute or two later, had to ask the lifeguard where was the class, and if he did not know, he had us ask the Towel Rental guy about it. Lovely. Such poor communication and customer service for a cruise ship. This was aggravating and irritating to us passengers. 8. The Line Dance class was cancelled, and no announcement was made. Those of us who showed up for it at poolside then thought that it must have moved to the Cosmopolitan Club. So the group of us headed up to the Club. Nothing was happening there, and the personnel there knew nothing about any Line Dance class. Rushing down to Guest Services, we were then informed that the class was cancelled. When we asked why was the cancellation not announced, the answer was that "not too many people are interested in that class". A simple announcement saying that the "Line Dance class has been cancelled" would have been the courteous thing for Royal Caribbean to do for the few of us who wanted to do this activity. 9. Some of us tried to enjoy table tennis, but Deck 14 was so windy for so many days, that it was impossible to play. If this happens more often than not, why doesn't Royal Caribbean devise some sort of enclosure that blocks off the wind so that passengers can enjoy this activity? Thumbs down for this ship, its activities, its entertainment, and its food. Read Less

We are ardent and addicted cruisers (just in 2017 we are having 6 cruises). We love good service and we are willing to pay for it. So we choose to sail as suite guests. Before we book this cruise we've been told, that the cruise ship was refurbished in 2014. We also been told, that the beloved coastal kitchen will not be on board, however the Chops will be operated very comparable as breakfast and lunch venue. Well - to make things short. The ship is old and the suite was everything else but refurbished. The carpet was from 2002, as was the furniture. Many doors did not close, some parts of the furniture been loose or missing. Not only that, also simple fixes like paint or glue wasn't used too much. Not only that the suite was very old and down lived, it was also bad maintained and dirty. The overall cabin experience was very disappointing. The concierge lounge was dark (no windows) and stinky. Not really a place you like to be in. The concierge itself is great, but what can she do if the ship is just not what it should be? Also - she has not the power to fix things. We asked plenty of time to talk to the F&B Manager but it was denied until the end of the cruise. Dining - a huge and important task of cruising. The quality of main dining food was very low. We just disembarked Norwegian couple of weeks ago and the difference is like day and night. Quality of food on the Navigator was low and the service probably the grumpiest we ever seen on a cruise ship. We complained but nothing changed. Not a single bit of smile on the service. We tried it 3 times but then we gave up. Paid extra for the specialty restaurants or just went to Windjammer. Windjammer was a bit better from the food but the quality of ingredients been low to. Chops for breakfast and lunch - what a joke. No passion, no love, no suite service. Lunch is only served on sea days, and then, you are having 3 dishes to choose from. Chicken, Beef or Vegie. Every sea day the same. Also - on sea days every "normal" guest could come to have lunch at Chops - for 20 USD. But surprise, that guest receives a full menue with plenty of choices. What a joke - a suite guest which pays thousands of dollars extra upfront will be served 3 choices and every other guest can upgrade for 20 USD for a much better experience. Room Service - had nice menus in the room, but if you want to order it happens 8 out of 10 times, that they told you it is not available. On the other side - breakfast on room service was excellent. Specialty Restaurants - Chops was ok but far below the experience of the bigger ships. Sabor was "so la la"... probably a 3 out of 10. Giovanni was unexpectedly the best experience. We really liked it, but again and I would give a 8 out of 10. Drinking - well - I love wines therefore I have the Ulitmate Package. There are a lot of wines by the glass. Many are below 14 USD but most are above (means you have to pay extra). That wouldn't really be an issue, but most of the wines have not been on board at all. So you order a wine and you have been told that the wine is sold out as it is just the second cruise after the Atlantic transfer and the restock didn't happen yet. Well - I have to pay the full fee and expect the full dining and drinking experience. By the way - it happens 12 times that the wine I was asking for wasn't available. Cocktails are ok - the pool bar guys are great. The windjammer team is 50/50 - half is great and half is lousy. Again - it misses the passion of the team. As I said we had the ultimate package - but please don't try to order a Espresso and a water on the same time. They will tell you "only one at a time". I would understand if I would like to order two beers on the same time, but an espresso and a water - in most restaurants this is standard anyway. Big mistake Royal! The shows - a lot of singing, but no musical or big show like on other ships. The concierge seats are on the upper balcony - so make sure to bring your googles otherwise you are not part of the show. The ice show on the other hand was amazing. Very entertaining and a lot of fun. Internet - well, RCL did it again. They sell you Internet Voom Service but it is everything else then Voom. What happens is, that they are having Satellites up there which are beaming into the main sailing regions to provide fast internet. This works well in the Caribbean and Mediterranean. But (all experienced by ourselves) - if you are sailing in areas like Asia, Mid East, Northern Canada or like in our this year trip in the Baltic sea - there is just almost no reception. Means - you might be able to receive a text message but please don't even try to stream movies of sending pictures to the beloved ones. What I don't understand - RCL knows that before selling it but they still do. Nevertheless they tell you to read the disclaimer that this can happen. I think this is fraud! Selling is actually also a key word. After complaining at the main dining room our head waiter came and said sorry. He then said "we are offering Galley Tours" and asked if we would be interested. We thought it is kind of a nice gesture after having a bad dining experience. But after we said that we would love to join for the galley tour he said, this will be 35 USD per person. So even in the event of bad service and saying sorry, the head waiter tries to sell something. Also - you can hardly walk the royal promenade as it is overloaded with sales booths. Whenever you are walking through the ship they try to sell you something - souvenirs, massages, specialty restaurants, shoe insoles, etc. etc. .... you feel like on the Royal Bazar. Disembarkation on port days. Well - badly organized. In Saint Petersburg it took 90 Minutes to leave the ship. People been queuing up and squeezing on the stair cases. The cruise director announced that "we are working on it" instead of organizing things better. Would have been easy to tell people to go back to their rooms until things are organized. I also would expect to have for suite guests an extra exit. Again - it is not existing. Other cruise lines are doing that - Royal not. What else to say - well, I could complain a lot but don't want to over stress the situation. I would not recommend to book a suite on this ship as you don't receive much of an extra service or any perks you really would enjoy. You are treated like everyone else even by paying a lot of extra. The ship is old and did see the best days long time ago. The refurbishment in 2014 was majorly the extension and adding of many rooms. It was more about making more revenues instead of adding a better and fresh cruise experience. Overall experience - you can feel that the company saves costs on every corner. You also can feel that they have a head of revenue on board (thats actually the only Officer you really can tell it is on board!). Everywhere they try to sell you something. The ship is old and needs an overhaul badly. The crew needs to be trained and the concierge lounge needs to be relocated to a place with windows. On top of it - add the Royal Suite Program. This here - is anything else than a sweet suite experience. Read Less

Family trip to travel home from Florida. It was an absolute disaster, the food was inedible cold and on two occasions the meat was raw.. I made several complaints to customer services and to F&B director but no acceptable improvements were made, my wife and I contracted Gastrointestinal problems on penultimate day and we were quarantined in our suite until we disembarked. If you or your family and friends are considering using this cruise line may I suggest that you reconsider and look for a different company. My wife and I are so aggrieved and disappointed that we wasted so much time and expense on a trip that we were so looking forward to experiencing and to then find it necessary to have to spend so much time and effort complaining I trust that a responsible person in this organisation will read this and do something about it. Will I ever hear anything from them, if my experience o far is anything to go by I seriously doubt it. Read Less

The only thing I can say about this cruise were the workers. They all were fabulous but the rest of the ship you can have. The buffet had the same things everyday and were the cheapest food you can find. The main dining room and our servers were fabulous and so was the food. The entertainment was awful. The singers and dance show was I would say, as bad as a kindergarden show and the sound was so loud we needed ear plugs. The comedian and vantriliquest were good. I had a Chinese mother and father with their 6yr old next door to us that cried and ran around in their suite most of the night and we got no sleep. They were smoking in the casino which in my opinion is out dated. They should have had one corner in the back for smoking which made me sick. No more Royal Caribbean. Read Less

This was a spring break trip with my family. This was our 5th cruise but 1st with RCL. We flew into Miami on the day the cruise was leaving since we booked the flights with Royal Caribbean. We arrived just fine and were put on a bus and taken to the ship, no problems. The ship is very pretty and looks pretty well maintained except for some of the artwork around the ship. The shadow boxes seem to feature different types and styles of fashion. Many of the objects were covered in at least an inch of dust, dresses displayed behind the glass were falling apart and again covered in a ton of dust. If its something that is falling apart - it should be removed and replaced. We were happy about the hand sanitized stations all over the ship. Nobody in our group got sick so that was a good thing. We stayed in an inside cabin for the first and last time. I wanted to experience it since I am a travel agent, I did not want to suggest a type of room unless I had stayed in one. The room was smaller than my bathroom, it really was - we measured it when we came home. How they expect 4 people to stay in that room is crazy. The bathroom was very tiny and it was hard to turn around in the shower, you could sit on the toilet and wash your hands at the sink at the same time. They don't change the sheets in your room ever- there was a small red mark on my side of the sheets and it was always there. The floor in our room was only cleaned once after we brought sand in on our shoes from Cozumel. Shopping on the ship was bad, everything was cheaply made but expensive. The shopping on other ships we have been on was wonderful, this was just bad. Johnny Rockets was the only place that had warm food and good service. When we ate at the Windjammer Cafe (buffet) the selection was not very good, there was no service, the food was cold and it was hard to a seat. In the main dining room it took a long time to get our food, it was always cold unless it was ice cream and that was usually pretty well melted. We all had the soda package but we had to go to the bar and they took everyone who needed mixed drinks first so we waited a long time. Most of the entertainment was boring, we love going to the shows on the other ships we have been on. This ship only offered one show an evening and all except one was so boring (unless you are 70 years old) The first show was a ballroom dancing show so we thought it would be like Dancing with the Stars type of show but, it started with the song Moon River ... and just got worse. I was jealous of the people who were able to walk out, we were stuck in the middle of a row so we could not sneak out. Then we saw the ice skating show - it was nice but the one skater kept falling down. They had a Bon Jovi tribute band on another night and since we love Bon Jovi we enjoyed that show. We missed the show on the last night so I can't comment about that one. Overall the service on the ship was not friendly. The staff was super serious and not cheerful or outgoing. We had to flag down to get any help. I use a motorized scooter and it seemed to annoy the staff. We have sailed on 4 other Carnival Cruises and they were always helpful, friendly, outgoing and just so much better in every way. The only Wow we had was the Wow why didn't we sail on Carnival again. We love to snorkel on our cruises and were really excited to take a tour in the Bahamas but we were not in port long enough to take the tour we were really wanted to take. We took a tour with the cruise line, it was ok. We were only in the water about an our and it only stopped in one place. In Cozumel - we have been there 5 times in the past so we did our own excursion and spent the day at a resort, we had a nice day. On Carnival they have a long pier but they allow rickshaw drivers to pick you up and take you to the shopping area, you just give them a tip but, they don't have any on RCL so it makes it hard if you can't walk far distances. I traveled with my husband, 13 year old daughter and 11 year old son. They did not like this cruise either. It would be great if you just wanted to get on a ship, lay out in the sun and go to bed early. We will never go on this ship again. I already booked another cruise on RCL for Christmas but, I am going to see if that ship has better reviews or I am going to cancel it and go on NCL or Carnival. Being a travel agent, I would not suggest this ship for anyone under 70 years old. Read Less

Eighth cruise with Royal Caribbean, and thought we would be loyal to this cruise line forever, but this will be our last one. Staff has been significantly cut back and service has suffered. The overall appearance of the ship is run down and dirty. A fellow passenger said that he'd been on the same ship a year ago, and although he'd got a lot of gray hair over the year, he didn't get as old as this ship. The signage at some of the bars and cafes was burned out - what does it take to fix? The cappuccino maker didn't work in any of the specialty restaurants, which you have to pay for, so the waiter directed us to the coffee bar. In the past, they would have gone to get the cappuccino for us, wherever they had to go. When we first started cruising, before entering a restaurant or returning from an excursion, there would be a staff member with a bottle of hand sanitizer that we had to use before entering. On this cruise, never once were we advised to wash our hands, and although there were hand sanitizer dispensers around, the were often empty. The cutbacks are more important to the cruise line leadership than the safety of passengers. The curtain in the dining room had a large, visible 6 inch tear in it, that I had to stare at each dinner. There was a big yellow stain on my pillow case when we boarded. The shears in our stateroom were stained. Our sink dripped and piped dripped on the bathroom floor. Our fridge didn't work. Carpets and wood flooring were worn. My husband made a mistake that locked our safe, so we had to call maintenance. It took 3 different people to open it. The first 2 said it needed to be drilled. Then the third person came and using the tools of the original 2 people, opened it in seconds. The first 2 people were incompetent. The same thing happened with our stateroom door lock. We returned to our cabin one afternoon and a maintenance guy was working on the lock that was fine when we went out earlier. Never really understood why they were working on it, but he said he fixed it and left, and then when we went to leave, the door wouldn't lock. It took 2 more attempts to fix it right. Clearly the cruise line has gone down over the past few years, so we'll be try out different cruise lines in the future. No more Royal Caribbean in our future. Read Less

We have been cruising for many years, and had over 20 cruises with different cruise lines. We came with our family and this was really a bad experience for us. You should look for other cruise lines as Royal Caribbean tries to make money on the expense of quality and services. They will rip you off with all kind of charges. On Labadee, which is actually the ship-on-shore, as it is a private area of Royal Caribbean, charges are extremely high. They found the way to charge for everything - that is free on ship.Great way to make extra money.. If you are looking for quality food, book other cruise lines.Regent of the seas or Oceania. If you want to drink espresso, bear in mind you have only 1 station on the whole ship. You will be hustled during the whole cruise with different kind of product marketing . Summary: the worst cruise ever had. Read Less

Ok so where to start, so many things to say. First of all, we had to wait 4 1/2 hours in line in the heat just to get on the ship. We never went to a terminal. It was a tent that was even hotter inside to wait in more lines. After a couple hours they finally started passing out water while we waited in line. We didn't leave until 6pm and when we got onboard there we didn't get to grab a bite to eat because we had to go immediately to the muster drill. By the this time we were starving and went looking for food. Could we find any? NO!!! We were supposed to wait for the dining room to open. I had an anxiety attack at this point and started crying and begging for food so I went up to one of the waiters and started yelling at them that I just wanted food and to sit down. Something to the effect of: "Can't we even get fed on this stupid ship? I just want some food and my feet hurt and I want to sit down already. We've only been waiting for hours in line!" Yes, embarrassing, but it happened. I've got to say they found me a seat and within two minutes moved us into the dining room. Probably to keep everyone else from rioting. After A glass of wine and some bread I started to calm down, ate and went straight to the stateroom and to bed. Everything was ok until we got to the royal Caribbean port in Haiti. We booked an excursion for jet skiing. With our friends. The staff on the excursion was rude and antagonizing. The chicks name was HANNAH and she gave us misinformation and was rude to us because we are middle age and treated us like we were geriatric. She almost let our friend drown because she didn't follow safety protocol or recommendations for the excursion. After 30 minutes of our friend in the water she decided to stop laughing and saying Ebro thing was cool and called for help. After the boat came and took our friends away we just wanted to be done and on our way. They charged us twice for the locker because of their mistake. The port shopping was horrible because the people are so aggressive and rude. Plus, they lie to you just to get you to buy. One guy actually got in my husbands face and told him "LOOK AT ME! I'm taking to you." The only good thing was that the ship provided food and beverages. On Wednesday night there was supposed to be a Latin pool party but the whole deck got flooded from the pools because the ship was rocking so badly since we sailed that it was cancelled because they were worried the band would get electrocuted. So were we. They told everyone to go to the Cosmopolitan Club to continue the party. That was a disaster. The do apparently didn't get the memo and some old lady started yelling and cussing at him that no one liked his music and to play something else. When he did, she started yelling at people to get up and dance, so we left. At 1am, said lady was leading a protest two decks below us, stomping and chanting "This stupid "A" (profanity) boat sucks!" because they closed the only dance club early. This went on for 30 minutes. At 4am there was an explosion and I thought the ship was sinking. Never found out what that was about. For the first 3 days the hallway smelled of sewer. There was only one dance club on the ship. The Latin band was awesome! But they only get a corner the deck and it was super crowded because it was the only place that had decent dance music. I called and bought a gift for my husband for our anniversary, which was on the 29th. I waited all day and nothing came. Next day we went to guest services and to find out what happened and they apologized for the error, which I they never said what happened but they ruined the surprise. They tried to make up for it and offered us a bottle of champagne, which we never recieved. They also offered us dinner at one of the premium restaurants to make up for it. That was nice, but ,y husband woke up sick and it wa on the last day of the cruise so I had dinner with my friend and not our anniversary dinner. So no anniversary celebration for us on the ship, thanks to ROYAL CARIBBEAN. Needless to say, we will never ever travel with them again. Worst vacation of our lives. Read Less

Mom has liked Royal Caribbean in the past - it's a older crowd (she is 82) and she feels more comfortable. We had problems after problems. The guy at the desk told me 2 things about WIFI that was WRONG and they keep telling me to call Verizon. It's their fault. Horrible customer service - paid for WIFI and it does NOT include calls or text - just data. So many things went wrong. From having my 82 year old mom stand in the sun for 3 hours waiting to board, to a room that is in badly need of some repairs. Our room had a wind tunnel noise and it took maintenance 2 days to get this fixed and kept us up for hours. I bought souvenir T Shirts ( NOT from this itinerary mind you!_) and they all shrunk ! So many things went wrong. The mattress was hard. There was a black ring around the toilet, no tissue in bathroom. Food choices were bland. Try another cruise line. Read Less

We sailed on Navigator Of The Seas to the Baltics. The ship itself is adequate and well laid out. The touch screen devices around the ship however were useful for finding our way around. We did find it difficult to find anywhere quiet to sit and read as all the lounges had music playing in them at all times of the day and night. The 'library' was more of a games area and certainly not a comfortable place to sit. On sea days there was a distinct lack of sun beds. The service from the stateroom attendant was excellent so too was the restaurant service staff. The food was average however in comparison to what we've experienced on other cruise lines. The management on the ship is a joke and communication is poor. Even when you query something with guest services that you've heard on the tannoy, they have no idea. We also had issues with drinks being charged to our account, yet we had a drinks package and always ensured our choices were within the package. There were differences of opinion as to what was in the package depending on which bar you were in. Again more time taken up queuing at guest services only to be promised it would be sorted, but days later it was still occurring. Most of the announcements made by the captain were incomprehensible. Many passengers were commenting that they just couldn't understand what he was saying. Again, more visits to guest services to ascertain the information, but even they said they had difficulty understanding him. Our experience with RCI hadn't been the best but unfortunately this was set to get much much worse as the end of the cruise approached. Our last port of call was cancelled due to time having to be made up in order to get back to Southampton on schedule. We had experienced a delay in St Petersburg early on in the itinerary due to weather conditions making it unsafe to leave. These things happen and whilst disappointed not to be stopping at the last port, we fully understood the reason for it. Unfortunately poor communications resulted in passengers only being informed at the last minute that we would now be late getting back to Southampton. This resulted in many international passengers frantically try to rearrange transport for connecting flights and in many cases totally rearranging their flights altogether. People we spoke to in this situation said that guest services had been very unhelpful and only permitted them to make one phone call. In some cases, the prearranged transport organised via RCI had simply been cancelled and passengers were forced to make their own arrangements. Certainly not the relaxing last 2 days at sea they had hoped for. The communications for the day of disembarkation were all mixed up. The old schedules, which had been given out previously, were replaced with the new timings to allow for the delay getting back to Southampton. Someone in charge however had omitted to change the information for cabin vacation arrangements and meeting in the designated areas. Passengers were therefore following different instructions. Again, no one in authority seemed interested even when it was brought to their attention. Even when the Cruise Director was making an announcement it was clear they didn't have a clue what was going on. Passengers who were now congregating in the designated areas just shook their heads in disbelief at yet more ineptitude. As we began to dock in Southampton, RCI representatives in the designated areas were instructing passengers to form a line towards the gangway in readiness for disembarkation. The line on deck 4 was extending towards the casino and staff we sending families with small children into a smoking environment. Even when parents complained and refused to stay in there, staff did not appear to comprehend these concerns and in some cases stood arguing with passengers. When the exit doors were opened for disembarkation, passengers started to move forward towards the gangway. There were hundreds of people all on the 'self assist' option so everyone had luggage too and it was difficult to move easily. Staff then started to bring passengers through from other directions and decks, preventing those who were lining up from getting off. People in wheelchairs and mobility vehicles were tossed aside and no regard was given to the vulnerable passengers onboard. With no management of the crowd and more and more passengers being crammed into one area, the staff on the exit door then refused to let us off. Now they decided we must use a difference area to exit. No one could turn around let alone move to another area. My husband was assaulted by a member of staff because he was unable to move. One young lady began to have a panic attack yet staff did nothing to assist her. Passengers at the front near to the exit were trying to get the attention of staff, pleading with them to open the doors as they feared they would be crushed with the volume of passengers now moving forward. Staff refused and at one point forced the doors shut on an elderly lady and her husband in their attempt to pen us in and prevent us from leaving. This poor lady was screaming in pain. I'm certain if it hadn't been for her husband having to force the doors open to free her, we might not have made it off alive. Since my return I have contacted RCI who refuse to accept any responsibility for the debacle with disembarkation. Their response is to blame passengers for not doing as they were instructed. Passengers did exactly as they were instructed - the problem was RCI gave so many conflicting instructions, no one in authority took charge to rectify it soon enough. I've forwarded all the documents to them which detail the varying information given out to passengers. RCI say they have thoroughly investigated the matter but all this meant was that they'd spoken to the staff onboard! Hardly a thorough investigation. I call that a biased view. The assault on my husband appears to have been swept under the carpet whilst they concentrate their efforts on avoiding bad publicity than they do about establishing the facts. This was our first cruise with RCI and will most definitely be our last. Read Less
