Have cruised with RCCI previously. Expected the ship to feel big, like Independence, but in reality seemed a little smaller..didn't matter though. Quality of musicians in the bars around Navigator were exceptional. Bar tenders very friendly and attentive. Remembered our name, cabin number and drinks preference, really quickly, was very impressed. Jacuzzis lovely and warm and quite easy to find sunbeds most days. Food delicious, one other reviewer here has complained at the length of time that it took to have dinner. For me, going out for dinner is an occasion, that doesn't want to be rushed. A little empathy and a pleasant personality ensures that your requirements are met. We had no trouble getting a table in the area we preferred, with the fabulous waiting staff we preferred (Edwin, Karan, Fabiano) and catered for by Estefania at the door...very very attentive and ensured we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Perhaps if other passengers are wanting to be 'fed quickly', they should eat in the Wind Jammer...quality food and service takes time. I do agree there was a lack of accompanying vegetables with the starter and main meals, however, if you add up all the calories, from start to finish of the 3 course dinner, plus drinks, there is certainly no shortage of calories there. First time for us on a Royal Caribbean ship with over 20 cruises under our belts mostly with Thomson TUI and P&O we thought why not give them a try. The Navigator is a big ship and requires alot of walking both stairs and passage ways and definitely more rides in lifts etc and getting on and off the ship for tender boats and to go a shore can take some time. The ship its self is showing its 15yrs in service a lot of the soft furnishings and carpets need some TLC. The cost of every thing is expensive on board and prices of things has the wow factor. OK now to the important part the food amazing it is and we enjoyed meals in the MDR and the Windjammer buffet and we ate well. They have a good pastry chef on this galley thats for sure and all the chefs know what there doing. Entertainment was good a really good collection of musicians in the nine piece orchestra brilliant to back up the dances and singers. Headline acts were Darren Day, Roy Walker. East coast boys singing Frankie Valli songs brilliant and they were introduced by a lively cruise director. Ok service was good waiters in the MDR very well trained and keen to help. House keeping was good all seemed cheerful and happy. On the bar work waiters seemed a bit stressed and short handed under pressure. Will we go on another RCI cruise yes we have already booked it on the Independence of the Sea for next year. Thats about it really happy cruising BYE. Read Less

Great ship, excellent food, very friendly stuff, great service, interesting activities. I felt very comfortable on the ship and they offer a wide range of great activities such as different dance classes, karaoke, lectures etc. Food is excellent: The Windjammer is a buffet restaurant where one can eat as much as they wish. For breakfast one can also eat in the more elegant Saphire restaurant. Each guest also gets a dinner time to choose for the Saphire restaurant with very kind waiters. My favourite port of call was Gibraltar, which offers amazing views and the monkeys are also a great attraction. However, make sure you buy tickets in advance for going up the rock or walk up there if you are sporty, because otherwise you will have to wait too long in the queue. I would have liked to spend more time there. Lisbon was the second most interesting port of call for me and is an interesting city. Read Less

We chose this cruise on the recommendation of a friend. Cabin 3628 was very stuffy and noisy caused by the ships engine and extractor fan. As this was our first cruise we didn't know what to expect but certainly not hard sell on everything. We didn't have a drinks package and the cost of wine etc was prohibitive. Needless to say those who had a drinks package were drinking from early morning until late at night to get value for money. Smokers were allowed on the deck and in the casino and we found this offputting. The tours were ok but again very expensive. The plusses were the staff, food and some of the entertainment was excellent. However the windjammer was a bun fight and we preferred the other restaurants. We paid the gratuity before the cruise but found envelopes left on our bed on the last day - we gave our room attendant extra as we felt he was worth it but. He seemed unhappy about the sum given and informed us that his entire salary was just tips indeed on one cruise he received 72 dollars in total for two weeks work and 17 cabins to clean. If this is true RC need to give their staff a basic salary. Perhaps we are not large ship cruisers and will try smaller cruises ships in the future. Read Less

Although this was my first ever cruise, I used to work on a six star cruise ship so I know what to expect. The ships Is beautiful, very clean and well laid out. I think the outside decks could have better seating with tables for drinking/eating on nice a evenings as sunbeds are not great if you just want a nice drink and chat. Could also do with a few small extra special touches, perhaps a popcorn machine for some shows in the theatre and films on the outside screen. Also the outside area could perhaps use more events such as live music in the evenings I feel. Some of the bars could do with more seating in particular The Two Poets English pub which seemed to be the favourite bar on our cruise and very hard to get a seat here in the evening. Overall though, I had a fantastic time cruising on The Navigator of the seas. A beautiful well laid out ship with outstanding service provided by a clearly committed crew. Great drinks, delicious food and lovely ports...I look forward to cruising again with Royal Caribbean hopefully soon again. I would definitely recommend. Read Less

Been on explorer of the seas loved it gave Navigator a try and were let down by charges for drinks(we were all-inclusive), and towels which were returned and not cleared off our accounts.Toilet not working one night was rectified then last night/last morning no toilet or water.Got email when home apologising but not good enough Royal Caribbean. Positives were mostly good staff, exceptional in Sapphire restaurant. Negatives were spent a lot of time at customer services and advise you check your bill for surprises on the last morning that get added even when you owe nothing. Food was of a good/high quality and varied.Waiters and restaurant staff were exceptional. Bar staff were always polite and helpful and you could have a laugh with them. Pool deck was often wet and not cleaned of water so they were a hazard. Pools were closed as children on two occasions were either sick in the pool or something more undesirable was floating in the pool. Smoking on pool deck should not be allowed on a family cruise and smoking on balconies is meant to be banned but the family below my daughters cabin were smoking. And why is smoking allowed in certain parts of the casino on some nights not others? Not all gamblers smoke so why inflict it on others. Read Less

We like the food. Their provision for various diets was excellent. We are particularly interested in gluten free food and their provision was outstanding. There are a lot of various activities and theatre shows were outstanding. We did go on 2 excretions and they were both well organised and very good. We ate at the Windjammer all the time. Our daughter, husband and their 2 children also came on the same cruise and it was very nice to be together. We went to all the theatre shows which were a mixture of singing, dancing and comedy. They were all 1st class. We also watched the ice skating show which was excellent. The children went on different activities including rock climbing which they enjoyed. The stateroom attendant was very good and efficient. He used the towels to create miniature animals (monkey etc.) and leave in the room. The cabin was tidied up and cleaned twice a day. All in all it was probably the best holiday we had. Read Less

I find every time I cruise with Royal Caribbean my holiday really feels like a holiday and not one which you need a rest after like some I have had , the staff always try and do as much as they can for you and with a smile , food is always plentiful and varied and if you decide to dine on a formal night you can expect a grand evening feeling like you are part of something very special that no other holiday can provide , and when you are walking the evening meal off on the external promenade watching dolphins swim by you will wish it could go on forever . staff on board are fantastic . shows and entertainment are amazing . We went on a RC shore excursion to Rome via a very plush private train and had a great day seeing the coliseum , Trevi fountain , Spanish steps and the Vatican. my only negative is the Navigator is starting to show it's age a bit with some poor maintenance mainly externally, .
