I find every time I cruise with Royal Caribbean my holiday really feels like a holiday and not one which you need a rest after like some I have had , the staff always try and do as much as they can for you and with a smile , food is always plentiful and varied and if you decide to dine on a formal night you can expect a grand evening feeling like you are part of something very special that no other holiday can provide , and when you are walking the evening meal off on the external promenade watching dolphins swim by you will wish it could go on forever . staff on board are fantastic . shows and entertainment are amazing . We went on a RC shore excursion to Rome via a very plush private train and had a great day seeing the coliseum , Trevi fountain , Spanish steps and the Vatican. my only negative is the Navigator is starting to show it's age a bit with some poor maintenance mainly externally, . Easy parking in Southampton near the ship, luggage collected and sent to Stateroom, very easy transit to onboard ship. The Stateroom was great, 8th floor, the whole ship was wonderful, "The Two Poets" bar could have been bigger, with more seating as it was always full ! The food on board was better than excellent, served with first rate friendly waiters, in fact all the staff were excellent a credit to RC. The shows and ice show where excellent a great experience! There is never a dull moment, with loads of onboard things to do. RC organised trip on shore were well organised and Guides very informative fantastic! On the other hand, once on board waiting for our Stateroom we where pounced on by staff trying to sell us meals in other restaurants- only been on the ship five minutes! The price of WiFi if you need it is so expensive! We paid £112 each upfront for gratuities but with the well over priced drinks that incurred an extra 18% on top, a single photograph was nearly $20 each! Wilst we had a fantastic time and glad we went, but felt as many others who have been on RC ships before felt the same, I know they need to make money, but they spoil it with there prices! Our next cruise we will need to look elsewhere and compare each merit. Read Less

cruise was ok as we booked this one as we had friends on board but will not do this one again. we loved the navigator but DJ Tic Tac was the worst DJ as he only wanted to play music that he wanted not what the passengers wanted and turned aggressive if you requested anything the ice show was the best show on-board the theatre entertainment was only average , The food was excellent in both the restaurant and windjammer and café promenade they had the best pies available each day with a large selection of sandwiches cakes etc. the housekeeping staff do an excellent job of keeping the ship in tip top condition . The sad part about this cruise was we always wanted a stopover in a port but in St Petersburg we could only get off if you had a visa or an organised tour it would have been so good to have had the stopover at another port of call to have the freedom. We choose this cruise for the itinerary though if we had taken the ships excursions we would have double the cost of the cruise. Small penny pinching things seemed to be a general complaint that spoiled peoples experience. Such has no coffee in the rooms the high price of drinks, so many people just drinking water, strong coffee had to be bought as an extra with a long queues. Many of the areas quickly ran out of seats. The room was fine though sometimes cold, the shower water was hot. In general the shows were poor. Dinning was fine and the specialty restaurants were good. Every one you spoke to seemed to have paid a different price for this cruise, it seems a mine field to get through has to how when or whom to use when booking these holidays. Its quiet easy to pay twice the amount has the person sitting next to you. Read Less

We mainly went to see St Petersburg, but the other ports of call were also interesting. We did not look around Southampton as we've been there several times. The embarkation and disembarking were smooth and speedy, we were very impressed, hardly any waiting around involved. The ship seemed a little dark decoration-wise, a lot of dark wood everywhere. The dining experience was fine but not brilliant, the staff are all friendly, courteous and efficient, but the menus were not varied and exciting enough, compared to P&O or Princess. The entertainment was very good and varied, something for everyone. St Petersburg did not disappoint - so much gold everywhere in their palaces and cathedrals, it was wonderful to see. Our guide was very impressive with her knowledge of her home city, but far too much walking involved in the 2 day tour. Luckily I had one sunny day, but on the rainy day we walked round a beautiful park for 2 and a bit hours getting soaked. And be warned it is one of those cities with toilets incapable of flushing toilet tissue. A good holiday I recommend it. Read Less

this was our first cruise, we found the ship to be very clean and the staff very pleasant, the food both in the windjammer and main dining room was excellent, but I would suggest getting a table 1st for the windjammer and sorting out where your food types are before loading your plates as by the time you find a table which is not occupied your food tends to be cold. there is loads to do for families but not a lot early in the mornings unless you like lounging around the pool, also a lot of the attractions, flow rider, climbing wall and ice rink were not open much, no reason was given and we weren't told before our cruise, but this did not affect us as we are middle aged and preferred a quieter cruise anyway. families with children will love the ship. the only fault we found was there was not enough time in Lisbon but loads of time in the 2 other ports this information was not available to us both before we booked and when we boarded which for us as middle aged people meant we didn't have much to do in vigo or le havre as walking far from the ship can be a bit hilly unless of course you decide to pay for a shore excursion., so as a result we cut our shore trips short and enjoyed a quieter ship. the information supplied for the ports was vague unless you attended the seminar the night before in one of the bars the main problem we found was that there was not enough seating throughout the ship which tended to mean we spent a lot of time going to different bars and shows etc a lot earlier than we would normally do just to make sure we got a seat, bit frustrating really. overall though we would still go on this cruise again irrespective of the couple of minor points and seating issue which did not appeal to us. My Wife's 70th and Grandson's 21st and our 50th anniversary. We liked the Dining room and Windjammer for the casual meals, the food was good. Drinks and shore excursions were very expensive when compared to the online booking prices and the onshore (local tours) The exchange rate for South Africans made it even worse. Shore excursion members were not very helpful when asked for info on doing our own thing such as where to go. The ship was good but starting to show it's age, some automatic doors did not work properly and occasionally stayed open, really noticeable on bad weather days. Rust patches were visible although small there were quite a few. The Ice show and Beatles show were excellent, but some of the other musical entertainers and Bands were obviously "low budget" and disappointing. The guy who did presentations on Flying was very good and interesting. TV movies, there was only one and repeated every day for the whole 14 day cruise. Read Less

We had the kids in 8229 and 8231.Inside interior rooms they were about the size we expected. the entertainment from Royal we felt was "soso" everyone raves about royal entertainment but it was amateur to say the best The ice skating though was great, the outside groups they brought on the jersey boy guys were great!!. We felt that Dave Devine was ok cruise director didn't see him much on board... and the fun stuff like volleyball etc didn't pick up until Thursday almost 5 days into the cruise. The food and service was great they treated us great all the time getting drinks, cleaning etc... The windjammer was good also we did try CHOPS, and the Giovanni table. We liked CHOPS but on other cruise lines the chef comes out to great you, you feel special here I felt it was just a sit down dinner, The steak was good but no special appetizer missing that personal touch. The price is right and we would like to try Royal Caribbean due to the port that we visited. The ship is older and I think it needs a little update. Bonaire island is our favorite. We would love to go back there again God's willing. The staff are hardworking people. They need promotions and a day off at least! Dancing on the ice is unique and water surfing. Our first time to experience this and other cruise lines does not offer any of this. I am thankful that during the Easter Sunday that we are there we had a Catholic mass for spiritual people like us. I love the huge Easter cake with lots of Easter eggs for the guests and kids most especially. The shopping experience is wonderful. I like the cruise director. He is very talented and funny. I am not well pleased with the food's taste and presentation. The bread is good though. I love the staff with their smile serving the vacationers who needs a little pampering including myself. I like to focus on good things so overall it is a very good experience for us even with the little flaws. Read Less

I chose this cruise because it was a 5 day cruise, and I wanted to visit Conzumel. I'm familiar with the ship and its amenities and I knew we would enjoy our vacation. The food is awesome. great variety of places and things to eat. The pool area was not crowded but like always, other cruisers tend to reserve chairs for hours at a time and forget about the other people that want a chair to sit and relax. The staff at the bars work swiftly to avoid lines and avoid keeping the people from waiting too long. The entertainers need to be looked into. the wardrobe appeared to be homemade and did not fit the bodies of the individuals. The music was old fashion and they need to be focusing on the current trends and new artists. The fitness center is appropriate for the occasion. Kept very clean and all of the equipment in its place and in working order. Read Less

This was our 4th cruise in the last 8 years. We are from the Midwest and in our late 50's. We chose this cruise for the ports. Flew in and stayed the night before. Got to the port at 10:30am on ship by 11:45am. Most of the ship looks really good, some wear and tear, but who cares. We had balcony on deck 7. Plenty of space and attendant was nice and friendly. Beds are firm, and pillows are flat. Food in dining room was good, not great. Less options. Waiter was good, asst. waiter was learning. Windjammer was good not great, with not many healthy choices. Did not spend more money in special restaurants. When booking we requested a table for 6 (at 8pm), we got a table for 10. One couple never showed up and some others missed some nights to go to specialty places. We did enjoy talking to the two couples that were there most nights. The whole dining room was half empty all week. Kind of boring. Had drink package, no problems getting what we wanted, but bar service was slow. There were waiters walking around pool, but seemed to also take a long time to get drinks from them. Some drinks made differently depending on bar. Activities were varied, and sometimes not on time, or not much participation. Some music events were scheduled, but sometimes didn't happen. Singers and dancers were really good, and jazz orchestra was outstanding. They have such a variety. Cruise director was OK, but AD was boring and typical. Fitness center was well equipped but warm. Avoided the Casino as we hate smoke. CC Meet and Mingle was a joke and insult to us long time members. It was scheduled at 11:30am before we cruised. The day of the cruise some people got notice in cabin of the change to 10am. Many people missed it. Basically it was just a raffle, and then get out of the club because they had another event happening. Late night dancing did not have much action as the DJ is not so good. There were different musicians and entertainers each night at different locations. They were mostly really good. Did all RC shore excursions and they were good. Although during the Kayak trip at Labadee the leader stopped at a little beach so the residents could push their stuff. We arrived back to port on time in Miami. Getting off was somewhat organized, but at one point they just started telling everyone to get off. There were lines for customs, but once at the official....they said OK and good bye without much review. We would sail RC again. Read Less

The ship was mostly great. My wife and I thought that the beds were not up to par for most ships in the fleet. My mother is in a wheelchair. Deck 5 is the most used deck to go front to back. Our staterooms were forward and dining in the aft. With everything going on and all the stuff that is on display in the center of the walk space really makes it hard to get around. I know RCL wants to separate people from their money, but putting the displays on the sides would make more since. This ship had a large amount of handicapped people onboard, but we see more and more handicapped on cruises. This is wonderful! Running into people with a wheelchair who suddenly stop to look at sale items in not. Escargot at each dinner. My favorite! Always a great menu! If you are lucky enough to have the entertainer David Curtis Mutter on your cruise do not miss him. He plays and sings for 3 hours NON STOP! WOW! The best I have seen in many years. He is a MUST SEE! Hi everyone, My wife and I took the little 5 day cruise to Nassau and Cozumel. It was my first time on on RCI and my wife's second. Our previous history includes Carnival (a long time ago, but a good time with the kids), Norwegian, then Celebrity. My wife saw a deal, and that was that. We purchased the drinks package and BOGO (the first 2 nights dinner package). We loved them both and would do both again. The Ship: She is in good shape. You can find something if you want to look hard enough. Some parts of her might be a little dated, but all in all, I thought she was pretty. We were in a standard balcony on deck 8. Plenty of storage, the A/C worked fine, the balcony was nice, if not huge. She is big enough to have most of the stuff RCI is known for without the need for months in advance reservations to see or use them. Reservations alone will keep me off of the bigger ships, I think. The Bars: The drink plan worked well, the bartenders were mostly very nice, but finding a good Bloody Mary was the challenge. A good Martini, no problem. Dining: Chops was excellent. Sabor was very good. Main dining dinners were surprisingly good We tended to eat late (8:30 or so) and got in and out in an hour. Didn't feel rushed either. The waiters were great, attentive without being obtrusive. Windjammer breakfasts were fine. Seemed to have everything but herring and English bacon. Windjammer lunches were another story. My wife and I had trouble finding much that was good. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. The Windjammer lunch is what makes this a 4 star cruise for us. Fellow Passengers: Diverse, young and old with an amazing number of kids. Well behaved kids. They may have started to crumble a little on the last night but a lot of us were slowing down by the last night too. Our fellow passengers were almost all fun, open, easy to talk to and a joy to be around. They were some of the nicest cruisers I have been around. What we did: Nassau. We didn't even get off the ship. We have been there a lot and decided to enjoy a quiet ship. We did and had a nice day. Cozumel. Went to Mr. Sanchos. Mr. Sanchos is a cheesy name for a really nice all inclusive day time resort. 2 pools with swim up pool bars, a nice beach with tables, chairs, umbrellas, and lounge chairs. The food, drinks, and service were great. We will go back if we ever end up in Cozumel again. Would we sail RCI again? We have to get over the lunches. You don't have a lot of choice for lunch unless you want to change your clothes and pay $20 per person to eat lunch at Sabor or Giovanni's. The Windjammer lunch just didn't really cut it for us. That being said, if the right cruise at the right price came along we would probably book it and would get by just fine. First world problems, 'eh? However, if I was a parent with little or not so little kids, I'd live on those ships. But not on 5 day cruises. Too short. Read Less
