My Wife's 70th and Grandson's 21st and our 50th anniversary. We liked the Dining room and Windjammer for the casual meals, the food was good. Drinks and shore excursions were very expensive when compared to the online booking prices and the onshore (local tours) The exchange rate for South Africans made it even worse. Shore excursion members were not very helpful when asked for info on doing our own thing such as where to go. The ship was good but starting to show it's age, some automatic doors did not work properly and occasionally stayed open, really noticeable on bad weather days. Rust patches were visible although small there were quite a few. The Ice show and Beatles show were excellent, but some of the other musical entertainers and Bands were obviously "low budget" and disappointing. The guy who did presentations on Flying was very good and interesting. TV movies, there was only one and repeated every day for the whole 14 day cruise. Read Less

This was a very crowded cruise and not much was done to make it feel less so. The spaces on the ship were not fully used. Even though it was in the 50's and windy the evening movies were still at the outside pool deck. Why not move them to the conference center area? While it was generally cold outside on the sea days the theater area could have been more fully used for entertainment. The speakers that were scheduled had limited, if any, audio visual support. The theater didn't work for these events. Entertainment was marginal. The only bright spot were the comedians, especially Kivi. The performance put on by the crew felt like forced labor, don't they work hard enough already. These were also a safety nightmare. The shows were so crowded by people looking for entertainment that all access points were blocked with people sitting on the steps. How a medical emergency would have been handled is hard to imagine. Also there was only seating for several hundred people on a ship carrying approximately 3400 people. Note; these Transatlantic cruise generally carry a high senior passenger headcount! Food was OK, much Indian cuisine. The dinning room on multiple occasions described meals that were not delivered as such. One of my table companions finally asked why he didn't get what was described, but there really was no answer. The waiter has no control on this, Our dinning room waiter was very good and professional, but aside from him I felt like I was on a training cruise, maybe I was. As an emerald member of Royal Caribbean I certainly was disappointed on the level of service. Oh I also was without water in my cabin for several hours on evening. This ship is old and tired and it shows! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the Ports of Call. Embarkation was a breeze and we only had about a fifteen minute wait until our cabin was ready. We always do self carry with our luggage, so it's nice when the room is ready straight away. Navigator is a decent sized ship, but this cruise had the most movement of any cruise we've been on. Dining experiences were great in both the main dining room and the Windjammer. We never eat at the specialty restaurants. Daytime entertainment/activities were poor. Very little going on around the pool in way of organized activities, live music, dancing, etc. They have a huge big screen TV that played Chive TV all day and a movie at night. Night time entertainment was mediocre. We saw a couple of good comedians, the ice skating show was pretty good, and battle of the sexes game was fun. Disembarkation processes for shore excursions and final disembarkation were very disorganized, but the excursions themselves were awesome! We'd love to stay loyal to RCL, but we may sail with a different line next time. This was our fifth cruise with RCL and we feel the service and attention on the smaller ships has decreased since the mega ships have started sailing. Read Less

We were in multiple rooms with the kids 8230 which was nice and a balcony ocean side. Was great our Stewart was great learned all the kids name. We had the kids in 8229 and 8231.Inside interior rooms they were about the size we expected. the entertainment from Royal we felt was "soso" everyone raves about royal entertainment but it was amateur to say the best The ice skating though was great, the outside groups they brought on the jersey boy guys were great!!. We felt that Dave Devine was ok cruise director didn't see him much on board... and the fun stuff like volleyball etc didn't pick up until Thursday almost 5 days into the cruise. The food and service was great they treated us great all the time getting drinks, cleaning etc... The windjammer was good also we did try CHOPS, and the Giovanni table. We liked CHOPS but on other cruise lines the chef comes out to great you, you feel special here I felt it was just a sit down dinner, The steak was good but no special appetizer missing that personal touch. The price is right and we would like to try Royal Caribbean due to the port that we visited. The ship is older and I think it needs a little update. Bonaire island is our favorite. We would love to go back there again God's willing. The staff are hardworking people. They need promotions and a day off at least! Dancing on the ice is unique and water surfing. Our first time to experience this and other cruise lines does not offer any of this. I am thankful that during the Easter Sunday that we are there we had a Catholic mass for spiritual people like us. I love the huge Easter cake with lots of Easter eggs for the guests and kids most especially. The shopping experience is wonderful. I like the cruise director. He is very talented and funny. I am not well pleased with the food's taste and presentation. The bread is good though. I love the staff with their smile serving the vacationers who needs a little pampering including myself. I like to focus on good things so overall it is a very good experience for us even with the little flaws. Read Less

I chose this cruise mainly for the Itinerary and the length of the cruise. The embarkation went very smooth on board within minutes of arriving at the port. The ship was very beautiful and well laid out lots to do and the entertainment great except for the opening night welcome aboard show that was very high school quality. The service on this ship was exceptional the best i have experienced and i have been on 5 previous cruises with 4 different cruise companies. I wish I could say the food on this ship was as good as everything else I experienced but I want to be honest and fair. The food wasn't good at all and at times was quite terrible but I did manage to find things to eat...On other cruises when eating a meal I often said to my wife this is delicious....I don't think I spoke those words once on this ship. I had Prime rib one night that was soooooo bad it was shocking. I remember thinking that all the nationalities of the world has food stations, Indian, asian etc etc....I found the flavours run into the typical American/Canadian food. weird tasting gravy etc. I'm going to stop on the food as I don't want anyone to think this was a disaster. Im just hoping someone who can make a difference is reading and fixes this problem. I spoke with many people on this ship who felt as I did. I will remember this ship with many fond memories. don't miss the parade in the Grand Lobby on deck 5...it is nothing short of spectacular. This ship is large and I'm sure anyone who sails her with find their own special spots. Ours was out in the roman adult pool area..it was simply gorgeous there. overal this cruise was awesome and i wish I could do it all over again. Getting off this ship was another story ....a very slow 2 and a half hours but I can over look that. Read Less

Chose this cruse because of the ports of call it went to. I had been on Navigator a few years ago, still an amazing beautiful ship, was my co-passengers first time on Navigator, they said this is the best ship they have ever been on, and I agree. Ship has plenty for children and adults; large nice adult only areas as well. It could however use later food options, as there is only one small place open at night for food, can get rather busy. Only other thing that needed improvement is the disembarkation, and embarkation. (not the ships fault) The staff inside the building before you get on the ship is super rude, and not helpful. If there were any issues on-board, as long as you let staff know about them, they were quick to take care of it and make it better the best they could Everything else is wonderful about this ship. Our experience at the royal Caribbean cruise as be so lovely. Their cabin are the perfect size for a couple looking for a getaway. Their dish at the main dining room are so appetizing. The big selection of food at the buffet is very highly pleasant to taste. The Navigator of the seas have many delightful cuisine from different ethnicity such as Caribbean food, Asian food and many more. There's many big variation of fun activities inside the boat for any age. Taking a vacation can affect they way our physic look, but the Navigator of the seas offer a gym, with different classes such as pilates, it's a good way to stay in shape during a pleasant vacation. The staff were wonderful, we can't say enough good things about them, they were great. Helpful, friendly and just in general very lovely at what they do.The Captain and his team were also incredible, they have offer us a wonderful trip without getting lost but just staying on track. 5 days (Bahamas & Cozumel) THE GOOD: I can't say enough good things about the staff, they were great. Helpful, friendly, courteous, and great at what they do. The ship activities are decent enough, but there probably are not enough for the amount of people on board. The food was pretty good (with one exception), we ate at every location (minus Izumi). There were a couple items at each location that were really good. THE BAD: Expect to get bombarded every turn about buying something, even if you already did. Purchased a couples massage only to get "harassed" about buying product after the massage. Purchased the 5 night dining package only to get "harassed" about buying the dining package. Extra fees, extra fees, extra fees. Even after paying for the tips in advance, expect to get blindsided by extra fees that aren't mentioned anywhere prior to the cruise. Room service? oh yeah, but it's $8 each time, and while most foods are included there are some that are only available for an extra fee (lobster, some steak items). Flow rider? great but it's only available for maybe about 4 hours each day, and if you pre-booked something, or are at a scheduled lunch? tough luck. Need a late night snack? OR couldn't make the assigned dining times? Only one other place to eat (open 24 hours) and the food was either bad sandwiches, or semi-warm gas station pizza. It was by far the worst food on the ship. THE UGLY: Worst bed I've ever slept on, hard as a rock. For all the marketing and sales pitches they throw at you for Cariloha you would expect them to have their mattresses and sheets in the room. You wanna sell a product let me sleep on it and try it out. Golfing simulator was broken the entire trip. Rooms aren't as "clean" as they should be, not dirty, but not clean. Internet was pathetic. It would work, then not work, then be great, then horrible. Expect the pools to be overcrowded, they are way to small for the number of people on board. Excursion was nice, until we get there and aren't allowed to take any pictures of video (even though the description said different). You have to purchase whatever the excursion took (only another $120). OVERALL: This was our first cruise. It was decent. Will we cruise again? Probably, but I'm just not sold on Royal Caribbean being our choice. We have 4 kids from 10-18, they didn't come this time, and I'm pretty sure they would have been bored after day 3. The constant sales pitches turned a needed vacation into a "I'm tired of hearing about anything you have to offer." Read Less

I chose this cruise because it was a 5 day cruise, and I wanted to visit Conzumel. I'm familiar with the ship and its amenities and I knew we would enjoy our vacation. The food is awesome. great variety of places and things to eat. The pool area was not crowded but like always, other cruisers tend to reserve chairs for hours at a time and forget about the other people that want a chair to sit and relax. The staff at the bars work swiftly to avoid lines and avoid keeping the people from waiting too long. The entertainers need to be looked into. the wardrobe appeared to be homemade and did not fit the bodies of the individuals. The music was old fashion and they need to be focusing on the current trends and new artists. The fitness center is appropriate for the occasion. Kept very clean and all of the equipment in its place and in working order. Read Less

We chose this particular cruise based on the itinerary and dates available for our daughter's spring break. We fly in from Seattle and could not do a full week cruise, so we needed the shorter option to be able to arrive in time to board and depart. The lowest point of the cruise was probably at arrival, getting onboard. We stood in line for over 3 hours as we waited to check in. This was my fourth cruise and the first for my husband and daughter and I've never experienced such a horrible check in process. Once we were onboard though, everything was smooth sailing. The activities on the boat were a lot of fun. We had our 17 year old daughter and there were many things that kept her interested both throughout the day and in the evenings, things that kept her engaged with others her age, and not awkwardly trying to fit in. The staff in the main dining room was soooo friendly and helpful. We did not try any of the other restaurants (aside from Windjammer) simply because we truly enjoyed our waitstaff in our assigned dining slot. We went to the Illusionist and had a blast, he was very entertaining, we also went to the Marriage Game Show and enjoyed that as well. The production number was a little long, maybe not my speed so much, but great dancing. We loved the comedian and really really enjoyed the 70s disco party on the Promenade. We spent many nights at the Schooner bar listening to the pianist as well and really enjoyed him, however he did tend to go a little long committing to one singer or another and not mixing it up and involving the crowd as much as I would have liked. I was really impressed with the fitness center. I think all but one machine were working which I consider a huge bonus! I am used to having some out of order! The waitstaff on the pool deck was always available and helpful. We paid for the internet and had really spotty connection. I wasn't disappointed or surprised given we are at sea, but at some point, this should be improved. Another disappointing factor was that paying for the soda package for our daughter, $8/day did not include bottled water for her. This seems like a huge miss. It also seems like bottled water should be included in the state room since we paid for the beverage package. It would be nice to see a late night dining option other than pizza and cold sandwiches. That got old really fast. Jonny Rockets was a good deal at $7 each for all you can eat, however we didn't get to take advantage of this because when we did go it was so busy that we sat for 10 minutes and never got service. I'm not sure what the room attendant's role is aside from making the bed and changing out towels but I didn't really feel like much was picked up compared to what I experience at a typical hotel room service. Usually my vanity area is straightened a bit and I didn't get that. I don't know if that's to be expected or not. Read Less

A family member researched and planned the cruise for a family getaway. We arrived at the ship and were able to board. The process was very smooth and organized. . We were informed that lunch was being served in the Windjammer. The variety of food was excellent and it was prepared very well. We reviewed the Compass everyday to plan our activities and there was always several activities that we would attend. Service was excellent, however one family member was not receiving some of the perks that the others were receiving, towel animals. One call and the problem was corrected. We did several shore excursions. All of the excursions were enjoyed and very informative. One family member did book another cruise while onboard. We did notice that some items/furniture on the ship should be cleaned/dusted. The baseboard or ledge above the baseboard in the rooms, customer service desk and other areas of the ship were dusty. Also items that were hanging from the ceiling of the promenade were very dusty. This is a problem for individuals with allergies. Overall the cruise was very enjoyable. Thank you! Read Less

The only problem was dancing on carpet but we all managed. The entertainment was great. The photographers were great at capturing pictures every night. It was a great idea to be able to just buy a digital USB. I purchased the total package and took lots and lots of pictures during the cruise. Loved the piano play on the 4th floor. He drew a large crowd every night he was on. Music and dancing was everywhere. It was hard to get to everything. There was skating, rock climbing, wave rider, miniature golf, basketball, pink pong, a great walking, running track, and a fabulous gym. I didn't go to the Spa but it looked first class. The dining room was beautiful and the service was great. We really enjoyed ourselves. Now back to reality. Read Less

We chose this vacation to get away and enjoy the sun, participate in lots of activities as well as relax and have some down time. This cruise covered all our expectations and more. We spent 2 days in Miami prior to the ships departure touring Lincoln Blvd. and Ocean Dr. We also spent time around the pool at our beach front hotel and on the beautiful Miami beach itself. Embarkation went very smoothly, and the only issue with disembarkation we had was that we didn't want to go home. The Navigator of the Seas is considered a smaller ship, but it is still very large with 3500 guests and 1700 staff and it's a very pretty ship. The cabins are a good size and I would never cruise without a balcony, to me a balcony is a little quite place in all the excitement where you can just get away sit back and relax. It doesn't matter where you eat on the ship, the food is fantastic, it really just depends on what your mood is at the moment. The ships entertainment and activities are very good and accommodate everyone from small children to seniors. Finally, you will visit some of the most beautiful countries in the world no matter what Royal Caribbean ship you are on with staff who provide professional and outstanding service. We can't wait for our next adventure. Read Less

All the staff are always willing to help or ask if you need any assistance. There is a large variety to do at all times or you can just veg out, the relaxation factor is superior. You also have many options to keep you busy at all times. The food selection is very good and fresh. The ports were all fun with a lot to do. There could have been a better variety in shopping and quick grab snacks in the Windjammer but all around the entire experience was a total success.. I highly recommend Royal Caribbean for anyone including families. Read Less

Room was always clean and neat every time we walk out of it. The food was very good. A decent variety of food each day but if you like any particular items they would do there best to accommodate your requests. The main dining room service was extremely nice. This was a spring break trip with my family. This was our 5th cruise but 1st with RCL. We flew into Miami on the day the cruise was leaving since we booked the flights with Royal Caribbean. We arrived just fine and were put on a bus and taken to the ship, no problems. The ship is very pretty and looks pretty well maintained except for some of the artwork around the ship. The shadow boxes seem to feature different types and styles of fashion. Many of the objects were covered in at least an inch of dust, dresses displayed behind the glass were falling apart and again covered in a ton of dust. If its something that is falling apart - it should be removed and replaced. We were happy about the hand sanitized stations all over the ship. Nobody in our group got sick so that was a good thing. We stayed in an inside cabin for the first and last time. I wanted to experience it since I am a travel agent, I did not want to suggest a type of room unless I had stayed in one. The room was smaller than my bathroom, it really was - we measured it when we came home. How they expect 4 people to stay in that room is crazy. The bathroom was very tiny and it was hard to turn around in the shower, you could sit on the toilet and wash your hands at the sink at the same time. They don't change the sheets in your room ever- there was a small red mark on my side of the sheets and it was always there. The floor in our room was only cleaned once after we brought sand in on our shoes from Cozumel. Shopping on the ship was bad, everything was cheaply made but expensive. The shopping on other ships we have been on was wonderful, this was just bad. Johnny Rockets was the only place that had warm food and good service. When we ate at the Windjammer Cafe (buffet) the selection was not very good, there was no service, the food was cold and it was hard to a seat. In the main dining room it took a long time to get our food, it was always cold unless it was ice cream and that was usually pretty well melted. We all had the soda package but we had to go to the bar and they took everyone who needed mixed drinks first so we waited a long time. Most of the entertainment was boring, we love going to the shows on the other ships we have been on. This ship only offered one show an evening and all except one was so boring (unless you are 70 years old) The first show was a ballroom dancing show so we thought it would be like Dancing with the Stars type of show but, it started with the song Moon River ... and just got worse. I was jealous of the people who were able to walk out, we were stuck in the middle of a row so we could not sneak out. Then we saw the ice skating show - it was nice but the one skater kept falling down. They had a Bon Jovi tribute band on another night and since we love Bon Jovi we enjoyed that show. We missed the show on the last night so I can't comment about that one. Overall the service on the ship was not friendly. The staff was super serious and not cheerful or outgoing. We had to flag down to get any help. I use a motorized scooter and it seemed to annoy the staff. We have sailed on 4 other Carnival Cruises and they were always helpful, friendly, outgoing and just so much better in every way. The only Wow we had was the Wow why didn't we sail on Carnival again. We love to snorkel on our cruises and were really excited to take a tour in the Bahamas but we were not in port long enough to take the tour we were really wanted to take. We took a tour with the cruise line, it was ok. We were only in the water about an our and it only stopped in one place. In Cozumel - we have been there 5 times in the past so we did our own excursion and spent the day at a resort, we had a nice day. On Carnival they have a long pier but they allow rickshaw drivers to pick you up and take you to the shopping area, you just give them a tip but, they don't have any on RCL so it makes it hard if you can't walk far distances. I traveled with my husband, 13 year old daughter and 11 year old son. They did not like this cruise either. It would be great if you just wanted to get on a ship, lay out in the sun and go to bed early. We will never go on this ship again. I already booked another cruise on RCL for Christmas but, I am going to see if that ship has better reviews or I am going to cancel it and go on NCL or Carnival. Being a travel agent, I would not suggest this ship for anyone under 70 years old. Read Less

Our head waiter tried had but was to far from the kitchen was very slow getting our food to us. Or assistant waitress was very forgetful I had asked for my milk to be delivered for my meals and she continuously forgot. I asked for cranberry sauce she forgot, I asked for horse radish and she forgot. The entertainment was to loud and screaming instead of singing. I loved the ice skating and the girl did several hoola hoops at one time was spectacular. I enjoyed the oriental band think they were called blue waters. This was our 4th cruise in the last 8 years. We are from the Midwest and in our late 50's. We chose this cruise for the ports. Flew in and stayed the night before. Got to the port at 10:30am on ship by 11:45am. Most of the ship looks really good, some wear and tear, but who cares. We had balcony on deck 7. Plenty of space and attendant was nice and friendly. Beds are firm, and pillows are flat. Food in dining room was good, not great. Less options. Waiter was good, asst. waiter was learning. Windjammer was good not great, with not many healthy choices. Did not spend more money in special restaurants. When booking we requested a table for 6 (at 8pm), we got a table for 10. One couple never showed up and some others missed some nights to go to specialty places. We did enjoy talking to the two couples that were there most nights. The whole dining room was half empty all week. Kind of boring. Had drink package, no problems getting what we wanted, but bar service was slow. There were waiters walking around pool, but seemed to also take a long time to get drinks from them. Some drinks made differently depending on bar. Activities were varied, and sometimes not on time, or not much participation. Some music events were scheduled, but sometimes didn't happen. Singers and dancers were really good, and jazz orchestra was outstanding. They have such a variety. Cruise director was OK, but AD was boring and typical. Fitness center was well equipped but warm. Avoided the Casino as we hate smoke. CC Meet and Mingle was a joke and insult to us long time members. It was scheduled at 11:30am before we cruised. The day of the cruise some people got notice in cabin of the change to 10am. Many people missed it. Basically it was just a raffle, and then get out of the club because they had another event happening. Late night dancing did not have much action as the DJ is not so good. There were different musicians and entertainers each night at different locations. They were mostly really good. Did all RC shore excursions and they were good. Although during the Kayak trip at Labadee the leader stopped at a little beach so the residents could push their stuff. We arrived back to port on time in Miami. Getting off was somewhat organized, but at one point they just started telling everyone to get off. There were lines for customs, but once at the official....they said OK and good bye without much review. We would sail RC again. Read Less

The ship was mostly great. My wife and I thought that the beds were not up to par for most ships in the fleet. My mother is in a wheelchair. Deck 5 is the most used deck to go front to back. Our staterooms were forward and dining in the aft. With everything going on and all the stuff that is on display in the center of the walk space really makes it hard to get around. I know RCL wants to separate people from their money, but putting the displays on the sides would make more since. This ship had a large amount of handicapped people onboard, but we see more and more handicapped on cruises. This is wonderful! Running into people with a wheelchair who suddenly stop to look at sale items in not. Escargot at each dinner. My favorite! Always a great menu! If you are lucky enough to have the entertainer David Curtis Mutter on your cruise do not miss him. He plays and sings for 3 hours NON STOP! WOW! The best I have seen in many years. He is a MUST SEE! We choose this cruise for the ship, itinerary, and great price. Flew in a day early and stayed at the Majestic in south beach. The following morning called uber and headed to port. Embankment: we arrived about 12:30 and so did everyone else or so it felt. But the lines moved along and we were on the ship in no time at all. I found the ship to be beautiful, and very clean. all the crew members were friendly and eager to please. Food: Windjammer very good with two cooked to order egg stations. They took you name and called you when your order was ready. Really eliminated the lines, and you could get your other breakfast items then pick up your eggs. Waitstaff would bring you, your beverages and refills quickly. Nice not to have to juggle your coffee, oj, and plate. Lunch had quite a selection. The only negative was the constant upselling of specialty restaurants while you were eating. We had 5 different crew members approach us while we were eating. after a few days this grows old. Main dining room: Beautiful decor. Waitstaff and food was wonderful. Service was a tad slow, but the ship was sold out. Room service: If you put your order out the night before they were right on time with it. Gave a phone call a couple of minutes before they arrived. Nice. Johnny Rockets: Great burgers and the milkshakes are the bomb. Shows: We saw two in the theater, song and dance type. They were just ok. The ice skating show was wonderful. : Cabins: very clean at all times Cabin steward was the best. We had high winds and rain on our first few days. After that really enjoyed the open decks and the pool area. Nice solarium as well. They had good sales in the promenade. We visited Labadee, Curacao, aruba, and Bonaire. Loved them all. I enjoyed everything about this cruise and the ship, Would love to do it again sometime. Read Less

This was our 1st time on a Royal Caribbean ship. We chose it because we had never been 2 the "ABC" islands(Aruba,Bonaire,Curacao)&really wanted 2 visit those. We were concerned about such a large ship, but we actually enjoyed it&loved the wonderful crew! All the employees were very friendly&really seemed 2 like their jobs. We might try RC again. (Was not happy about not being able 2 bring our 12pk sodas w/us----$$on ship too high!) Entertainment was very good, loved the ice show! The piano guy was wonderful! All the musicians & dancers were fabulous! Biggest complaint (besides soda issue) was that there is not much choice of "eats" offered on port days when u return from xcursions about 3-5pm totally starving after hiking, swimming,&don't go 2 dinner til 8:00pm! This has never been a problem on other cruise lines that offer hamburger grills, taco bars, even salad bars to tide us over til dinner @ 8:00+pm. The Cafe was only offering small(mostly bread)sandwiches& small, thin pieces of pizzas w/ looonnng lines as people returned from shore&we didn't want 2 stand in line & wait....... Read Less

We chose this cruise as we had never been on the ABC island itinerary plus Labadee, Haiti. I do have to say this is our 3rd time on the Navigator and 6th cruise, one being on the newest NCL. We love this ship. Even though it has shown signs of wear, it was truly a great time. Glad we took the 9 days instead of the usual 7. The ports were all ok, however, I get tired of all the jewelry stores, which all have the same things. I would rather give my money to the local citizens. People be aware of the store in Curacao where they offer their phone to you to use to call back to the United States to your "loved ones." They do this to get a phone number and then call your family (your family knowing you are over seas) and telling them they need money to get you out of jail, etc. It's a scam. Just be aware of this. The only thing we found to be bad was the bed! It was very hard, and I even brought my own foam 1" mattress. My husband and friends who were traveling with us said the exact thing. We had an awesome stateroom attendant, Ezra Tannis. HE WAS FANTASTIC!!! Fixed everything we told him about. No questions asked. Entertainment was great! Better than the brand new NCl we had gone on a year ago. I agree there should be something done different about people reserving chairs on the decks. Shame on them!!! I love this ship and we WILL be going back!!! Thank you. Read Less

Hi everyone, My wife and I took the little 5 day cruise to Nassau and Cozumel. It was my first time on on RCI and my wife's second. Our previous history includes Carnival (a long time ago, but a good time with the kids), Norwegian, then Celebrity. My wife saw a deal, and that was that. We purchased the drinks package and BOGO (the first 2 nights dinner package). We loved them both and would do both again. The Ship: She is in good shape. You can find something if you want to look hard enough. Some parts of her might be a little dated, but all in all, I thought she was pretty. We were in a standard balcony on deck 8. Plenty of storage, the A/C worked fine, the balcony was nice, if not huge. She is big enough to have most of the stuff RCI is known for without the need for months in advance reservations to see or use them. Reservations alone will keep me off of the bigger ships, I think. The Bars: The drink plan worked well, the bartenders were mostly very nice, but finding a good Bloody Mary was the challenge. A good Martini, no problem. Dining: Chops was excellent. Sabor was very good. Main dining dinners were surprisingly good We tended to eat late (8:30 or so) and got in and out in an hour. Didn't feel rushed either. The waiters were great, attentive without being obtrusive. Windjammer breakfasts were fine. Seemed to have everything but herring and English bacon. Windjammer lunches were another story. My wife and I had trouble finding much that was good. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. The Windjammer lunch is what makes this a 4 star cruise for us. Fellow Passengers: Diverse, young and old with an amazing number of kids. Well behaved kids. They may have started to crumble a little on the last night but a lot of us were slowing down by the last night too. Our fellow passengers were almost all fun, open, easy to talk to and a joy to be around. They were some of the nicest cruisers I have been around. What we did: Nassau. We didn't even get off the ship. We have been there a lot and decided to enjoy a quiet ship. We did and had a nice day. Cozumel. Went to Mr. Sanchos. Mr. Sanchos is a cheesy name for a really nice all inclusive day time resort. 2 pools with swim up pool bars, a nice beach with tables, chairs, umbrellas, and lounge chairs. The food, drinks, and service were great. We will go back if we ever end up in Cozumel again. Would we sail RCI again? We have to get over the lunches. You don't have a lot of choice for lunch unless you want to change your clothes and pay $20 per person to eat lunch at Sabor or Giovanni's. The Windjammer lunch just didn't really cut it for us. That being said, if the right cruise at the right price came along we would probably book it and would get by just fine. First world problems, 'eh? However, if I was a parent with little or not so little kids, I'd live on those ships. But not on 5 day cruises. Too short. Read Less
