We mainly chose this cruise since we had not been in Bonaire before (all other ports of call we've visited before). SHORE EXCURSION: The best shore excursion on this cruise was the "Fun Beach Express, Sightseeing & Snorkel" tour in Curacao. Our guide was Melissa and her driver was Cedric. Melissa was so pleasant and had a wealth of knowledge. Saw a lot & the bus was open-air, so taking pictures/videos was a breeze (pun intended). One thing to note - before you cruise: check out the shore excursions online. About 10 weeks prior to our sailing date, Royal Caribbean started offering 10-30% off if you booked the excursion prior to your sail date. Well worth it! DINING: We did find that crew must've been told to "push" for the Specialty Dining Package. I'm assuming they get commission, since we were almost tackled about this on every corner of the ship. We finally gave in and purchased a 3-dinner Specialty Dining package. The experience in the Chops Grille was fantastic and well worth the extra $. The Filet Mignon is grilled to perfection and everything from the service to the side dishes is a perfect complement. Truly makes for a special evening, so I do recommend that you visit Chops at least once during this cruise. We also visited Giovanni's Table - which I cannot recommend after our experience (service was lackluster and came with an "attitude", main entrees came out cold, etc.). We did not visit Sol (Mexican Specialty) as the menu only includes appetizer style food & enchiladas - something I can get in Southern California and certainly won't pay extra for. Our friends visited Izumi (Japanese/Sushi Specialty Restaurant). They went back twice, raving about the quality of the food. Note: if you go to Izumi, you will order "a la carte". Cover charge is $35 and you can order whatever you like, but after reaching $35 value of foods ordered you will pay a la carte price extra for each item you order. ENTERTAINMENT: Headliner shows were great and excellent variety, from Comedy to Singing (e.g. Las Vegas Tenors). Production Shows featured predominantly 70s & 80s music. Our cruise featured a professional ballroom couple from Ukraine - they have won several awards and rightfully so - they are spectacular to watch. They also hosted 1/2 hour dance lessons for all to attend (no cost) during the cruise, which was great and we enjoyed every lesson! The Ice Show was also fantastic - a must see - I still can't believe how these professional ice skaters make it look so easy on this tiny ice skating rink inside the ship, even when the ship is moving. Pure talent at work! SPA: booked a 50-minute Swedish massage prior to sailing (special discount). Was "upsold" to hot stone massage ($20 more). Massage & service overall was good and pleasant (although I do prefer the massage therapist at my Chiropractors office for therapeutic purposes; the Spa massage on the ship was more of a "feel good" activity than truly therapeutic). Afterwards, be aware that they will try to sell you about $150 worth of extras (sponges, ointments, free acupuncture consultation). It's ok to say no, but you might start seeing some of the smiles fade.... ONBOARD: if you are looking for a quiet place to read a book, look for Deck 13 on the front of the ship. Hundreds of free chaise loungers and plenty of space. If you are looking for activities, be near to the pool area. Sports Deck offers lots of variety (FlowRider, MiniGolf, RockClimbing, Basketball, Table Tennis). Ice Skating Rink is also open during sea days (bring long pants if you want to try this out!). They do play major picture movies on the big screen by the pool area. During the day, fun "failarmy" videos are being played for general entertainment. CREW: very friendly, extremely helpful; cruise director staff was excellent and offered lots of fun activities during sea days; service in main dining room and Windjammer Buffet was excellent, as was the quality of the food itself. OVERALL: I would definitely recommend this cruise and would go again (but book a different cabin - see my comments under Cabin details below). I've been on about 12 cruises and although I've tried other cruise lines, keep coming back to Royal Caribbean due to value & quality. Navigator is a very clean ship & great size (140,000 ton, Voyager class). Read Less

We have done many cruises. This one was Exceptional. We were a group of 4 couples. Our cabins were all close by and on the same floor. We had a wonderful time. Overall, the ship was clean. Courtesy and respect were demonstrated by staff at all times. We all had an Ocean View Cabin which were just right for space, and very comfortable. The cleaning services were excellent. We will come back to our room and depict a well made up bed, and everything there in their right place. The food on the ship was exceptional, everything was tasty. There was a large spread of delicious cuisine in the Windjammer. Food was always fresh. Formal dining was also exceptional. Waiters, and maitre d were also exceptional. Entertainment was good also. We were all of Caribbean background, therefore loved the Caribbean band on board. We followed the Band where ever they were playing, and jumped up to their Caribbean music. We will definitely do another vacation cruise on this ship. We had no complaints. Read Less

We choose this cruise for Aruba port stop and the time of year, when most schools are open. We are trying to book cruises on RCI so we can accumulate points. We took a taxi from Miami airport we appreciated not having to go to a hotel for the night and unpack. Ship departed from Miami at 5pm giving us plenty of time for checking in. The onboard process was smoother and quicker than previous cruise which departing from Fort Lauderdale. More checkin stations and just walk in service at 11:30am. Windjammer opened at 12noon. We hung out in the pool area enjoying the music until 1pm when rooms were ready. NOS was decorated for the holidays and everyone was in a festive spirit. Only a few school age children onboard this 9day cruise and families with infants & toddlers. Ship was full and seniors were the majority. Ship was quiet and deserted after midnight. Shows were enjoyable, especially the late night adult comedy shows. We only did 1 of the 2 formal nights using the my time dining option. We went to the Windjammer for meals. We enjoyed the trivia games and hubby went to casino once. We did RCI sightseeing panoramic excursions at each port. We only layed out on the beach at Labadee. RCI provided a fantastic beach side lunch on their island port of Labadee. Most relaxing cruise and great opportunity to meet people from all over the world. This was the first of two back-to-back cruises for us. Same ship and in same cabin, leaving Miami on 12/17 for 5day Western Carribean Cruise. Big difference in atmosphere from the first cruise. My wife and I went on this cruise because we purchased a new Kia. This was my first cruise with Royal and it was outstanding. The ice skating show was out of this world, it was amazing how much they could do in such little space. Growing up in Florida, I have never had the chance to try ice skating for myself so it was great to be on such a wonderful cruise and learn to ice skate. As a Floridian, the artificial wave was a great hit for me. Learning how to ski and kneeboard without a rope was spectacular and exciting. The shows on the boat were also very unique. The dancers did a wonderful job with broadway style dancing that my wife and I greatly enjoyed. I believe my cruise with Royal greatly outdid my previous cruises with Carnival and I would recommend any avid "cruiser" to check out Royal ships and enjoy. Read Less

This was my first trip with Royal Caribbean, after more than a dozen cruises with Cunard, Carnival and NCL. I didn't have unreal high expectations however, after this experience, I wonder why is it that RCI is considered a higher standard in cruising? My first negative impression came from staff members, whom I suspect are underpaid and in less than decent conditions on the boat (they can't all be moody!). Most of them have questionable attitudes, as if they cannot be bothered. I am not one of those annoying, obnoxious, demanding customers, actually I have compassion and respect for workers, especially since I worked with Cunard myself. Our deluxe balcony cabin lacked bathroom supplies (no tissues, shampoo, or even bags for garbage) and seemed outdated, there was mold in the shower and in the toilet, yucks. Beds were hard and there were no individual controls for lights, which were either blinding or left us in the dark. Internet service package...I might as well not have wasted my money! Was expecting a work contract and needed to have email available, but was unable to refresh, let alone do anything online. Entertainment was mediocre at best, however I didn't expect super talent aboard a boat. What surprised me the most was the very, very poor quality of the food. Windjammer was distracting due to the buffet nature and variety...but their main dining room, Saphire, omg, every dish looked and tasted like a $3 dollar microwave meal. Don't know if I would give RCI another shot, would have to read reviews. For now, as far as big cruise liners, I believe NCL is a much better choice. This was like Carnival, with less desperate feeders and a higher quality crowd, but overly stuffed the same. Did I mention we waited 3 hours for disembarkation? Read Less

If you want to eat after 10 in the evening and want more then a roll or a burnt pizza. Entertainment was a joke the cruise director needs replacing. Example colouring by numbers as an afternoon entertainment. The cruise seemed to concentrate on people who were returning customers rather then new. Formal nights were a joke, you got dressed up to walk into the dining room for your evening meal which you had done the night before. no captain, no entertainment, nothing special at all. did not bother after the 1st one. If you Smoke you are normally allowed to smoke in casino. Not on this ship on formal days all day, weather was bad so could not go up on deck and had to use cigar room which had such poor extractors and stunk, In the casino ashtray was a floor standing one which staff emptied out the ashtrays from the slot machines into and never got emptied all day. Everyone i spoke to and me included had charges for services not used added to bills. AFter 8 days at sea managed to get 3 hours in Boston. Management of Immigration was a joke we should have been first a 6.30 with people on excursions ( instead approx 1500 in gue, emigration delayed .with people queuing for 3 or more hours, will not go on but all i will say is i saw people crying with boredom, This cruise turned into a prison sentence. so will i use again never twice crew members maimed to music on the bridge on the promenade and that was about as lively as it got. We had previously cruised on the Navigator in 2016 and enjoyed it (13 Nights), despite the ship looking a little jaded in places, but the shows and the itinerary made up for the condition of the ship. However in 2017 the ship looks a little rougher, but the shows are identical and the staff are just not interested in being polite and happy. The itinerary had been cut by 3 port days, which meant that there was 5 days at sea and 5 days in port, on the 5 days at sea, 2 of them where crossing the Bay of Biscay, so that wasn’t great, but we knew it would be so, however we were not prepared for such a worn out mattress on our bed, which made the crossing harder, due to the mattress being uncomfortable to start with. We asked for it to be changed, only to find it had been "padded" with towels, which made the hot nights unbearable. Overall this cruise had less days, a shorter itinerary, for more money! The bar service was very slow in some areas. Could have been much better. Read Less

This was our first cruise which is way we chose this 5 day mini cruise from Southampton. From the very start we were taken care of by the wonderful Royal Caribbean staff who looked after our every need. The food in both the Windjammer Café and the main dining room was excellent. I've never seen people work so hard to keep everyone happy. There was so much to do from eating & drinking through to quizzes in the bar, fun by the pool, films or watching the fantastic ice show and theatre shows. The guest artists in the evening theatre shows were excellent. The only very minor gripe was that the price of the drinks on board was a little bit expensive although not enough to put me off having a few. This was a great way to start our cruise experience and we will be back with Royal Caribbean again.. Read Less

A good 2nd RC cruise, generally. The ship is lovely; there's lots to do. The food is great, the staterooms nice and the staff/service are amazing. Sadly it's getting quite Butlins. For the price, it's less swish and luxurious than you'd imagine, especially compared to other lines. Whilst it was fun, it was over-crowded, and quite ropey in-parts, where activities/entertainment were aimed at families/young children. It was quite low-brow and populist; endless Bingo and Karaoke, people going to dinner in hoodies/tracksuits. There were children everywhere, and this was encouraged by nature of the activities/entertainment. It felt more like a holiday-camp than a nice, posh cruise, which seems a shame, given it's marketed as a luxury. Also, facilities couldn't accommodate the number of passengers. The Windjammer was over-capacity, bars were full; you couldn't find a seat anywhere. Too many people packed-on without thought of how they would spend their time on-board. Read Less

Wanted to see more of Europe so booked with Royal Carribean first and last time! Ship is tired needs a refit though on the positive side is clean. Staff work hard , long days and are always helpfull. Sadly the drinks are very expensive $13 for a glass of wine $3.50 for a can of coke !! There are no price lists at any of the bars so unable to choose other than by looking over the bar . You can buy a drinks package for $65 a day each and can only get one drink at a time so you can't share . Gratuity automatically added of $191 per cabin to your bill unless you opt out . Entertainment was OK in the evening but poor during the day . The main bugbear was the constant hard sell by staff for everything from dinner experiences to photos. Food was good and plentiful in the cafeteria but please loose the plastic plates and dishes they are awfull. Only wanted to sell the tours at destinations so hardly any other information given as to how guests can get about . Also some guests got premier seating and bars off limit for those not paying the premium . Sorry but will not be booking again back to P&O. Read Less

We went on this cruise with a group as a business trip. The food was below par, the buffet was the leftovers from the dining room the night before. The Saphire Dining Room meals were equal to a Chili's or Red Robin in the US. Definitely not getting what you paid for. We ate in Chops one night, food was OK, but it would be what I expected in the main dining room, and I would expect better from one of the specialty restaurants. Entertainment was short and choppy; 30 minutes here, 15 minutes there, but nothing to hold you there or keep you entertained. We did the drink package which was very expensive, but cheaper than buying 3 drinks a day. Our balcony suite had ripped sheets on the bed, the picture frame was so tarnished it looked black in the left corner, we had 6 bottles of water in the room for the entire 9 days, if you wanted free water you had to get it on a different deck, if you ordered it to your room, you paid a room service fee. It's a giant floating mall where they nickle and dime you for everything. I'm very sad that cruises have become so below average. We won't be cruising anymore. Teresa Read Less

Fitted in well with school holidays and always good to sail from Southampton. Ship is a good one although a little tired in places. The last time we had Clo as a cruise director she was disappointing but she was bang on form on this cruise. Main dining was good service but main dining food was not as good as it used to be and significantly lower in standard than NCL who we used for the first time this year. Service has improved since the same time last year and a good itinerary made for a good holiday. Excursions were varied but in my opinion very overpriced and 50% cheaper to organise yourself in some cases. Speciality restaurant prices have gone up significantly over the last few years and generally, menus have reduced in variety and not changed much in the last 8 years. Hypnotist show was brilliant, and whilst it may seem like a moanathon, still a good holiday and we will use again if it's a good deal Read Less

We could not use the facilities as we were led to believe unless we paid more money so I was confused as to what we paid the thirty nine dollars for so w complained and it was sorted however we do know that other people were not as fortunate as us Read Less

There was so much food in quantity and diversity and the quality was second to none. All over the ship there was different entertainment going on so everyone had a brilliant time. We were all treated like royalty and every corner you turned there was a happy smiling faced member of crew. From the moment we stepped on board to the excursions, the staff couldn't do enough for us. This was our first cruise and we were unsure if we would like the experience. We loved the fact we could step off our floating hotel and see different cultures and people. Take in the architecture and sample local foods and wine. All excursions were professionally undertaken and we personally couldn't wait to get back onboard at the end of the day to feast in one of the many restaurants. We chose this cruise on the recommendation of a friend. Cabin 3628 was very stuffy and noisy caused by the ships engine and extractor fan. As this was our first cruise we didn't know what to expect but certainly not hard sell on everything. We didn't have a drinks package and the cost of wine etc was prohibitive. Needless to say those who had a drinks package were drinking from early morning until late at night to get value for money. Smokers were allowed on the deck and in the casino and we found this offputting. The tours were ok but again very expensive. The plusses were the staff, food and some of the entertainment was excellent. However the windjammer was a bun fight and we preferred the other restaurants. We paid the gratuity before the cruise but found envelopes left on our bed on the last day - we gave our room attendant extra as we felt he was worth it but. He seemed unhappy about the sum given and informed us that his entire salary was just tips indeed on one cruise he received 72 dollars in total for two weeks work and 17 cabins to clean. If this is true RC need to give their staff a basic salary. Perhaps we are not large ship cruisers and will try smaller cruises ships in the future. Read Less

Although this was my first ever cruise, I used to work on a six star cruise ship so I know what to expect. The ships Is beautiful, very clean and well laid out. I think the outside decks could have better seating with tables for drinking/eating on nice a evenings as sunbeds are not great if you just want a nice drink and chat. Could also do with a few small extra special touches, perhaps a popcorn machine for some shows in the theatre and films on the outside screen. Also the outside area could perhaps use more events such as live music in the evenings I feel. Some of the bars could do with more seating in particular The Two Poets English pub which seemed to be the favourite bar on our cruise and very hard to get a seat here in the evening. Overall though, I had a fantastic time cruising on The Navigator of the seas. A beautiful well laid out ship with outstanding service provided by a clearly committed crew. Great drinks, delicious food and lovely ports...I look forward to cruising again with Royal Caribbean hopefully soon again. I would definitely recommend. Read Less

First of all, I previously cruised with Royal Caribbean "Allure of the Seas", and it was so exhilarating, I was looking forward to cruising with their Navigator of the Seas. Alas, I was completely disappointed in my experience with this ship. Here are some of the reasons: 1. When the ship docked, there was no one to direct passengers to the gangway. Yes, there were signs posted on the walls, but when a whole crowd of people are in the hallway, the signs can't be seen, and there is a lot of confusion about which way to go - right or left. Some passengers, were even saying that the exit was at the other end of the ship. This same confusion and scenario repeated itself at subsequent ports. It would have been so simple if there was a staff member at, or near the elevators directing people to the exit door leading to the gangway. 2. All the poultry and fish in the main dining room and the Windjammer were overcooked. The gravest, culinary sin was the "Filet Mignon" in the Windjammer, which was way overdone, chewy, and quite ghastly. A hockey puck would have tasted better. 3. The majority of food was also over-salted, yet the scrambled eggs, omelets, etc. had no salt and were quite tasteless. 4. To be fair, the tastiest food on the Navigator of the Seas was the Italian food. This is not my favourite type of food, but it was the tastiest on this ship. 5. For those passengers who do not particularly like gambling or drinking, there were not enough other activities to keep one interested and entertained on this ship. A lot of the activities were quite boring, and too many of them ended up being sales pitches, and "buy", "buy", "buy" events. 6. The shows were amateurish, almost laughable compared to those on the "Allure of the Seas" (for example). They were lacking professionalism, polish and finesse, and they reminded us passengers of high school concerts that just don't quite make the grade. 7. A few times, the Dance Fit classes were scheduled to be held pool side, but because of inclement weather, the activity moved inside to the Cosmopolitan Club, and no announcement was made, so those of us who arrived a minute or two later, had to ask the lifeguard where was the class, and if he did not know, he had us ask the Towel Rental guy about it. Lovely. Such poor communication and customer service for a cruise ship. This was aggravating and irritating to us passengers. 8. The Line Dance class was cancelled, and no announcement was made. Those of us who showed up for it at poolside then thought that it must have moved to the Cosmopolitan Club. So the group of us headed up to the Club. Nothing was happening there, and the personnel there knew nothing about any Line Dance class. Rushing down to Guest Services, we were then informed that the class was cancelled. When we asked why was the cancellation not announced, the answer was that "not too many people are interested in that class". A simple announcement saying that the "Line Dance class has been cancelled" would have been the courteous thing for Royal Caribbean to do for the few of us who wanted to do this activity. 9. Some of us tried to enjoy table tennis, but Deck 14 was so windy for so many days, that it was impossible to play. If this happens more often than not, why doesn't Royal Caribbean devise some sort of enclosure that blocks off the wind so that passengers can enjoy this activity? Thumbs down for this ship, its activities, its entertainment, and its food. Read Less

We have just returned home after 1 month on Navigator of the Seas, we have sailed on this ship many times before and as usual it was a great experience. The standards of cleanliness are second to none and the staff are hard working ,polite and extremely helpful, we were in a JS on deck 9 and our cabin steward was Richard Bryon, he kept our room spotless and well stocked with amenities and always had a smile and time to say hi! The food has improved since our last trip in May and we cannot fault the food anywhere on the ship. I have read some of the negative reviews relating to other people’s experiences on Navigator and I begin to wonder if they were on th same ship as me. If the food was so bad why do people pile their plates as if they are expecting a famine, I am sure they do not eat this way at home. The selection of food in the Windjammer was really very good throughout the day with speciality foods relating to ports of call. Speciality restaurants are excellent and also the Cafe Promenade have a great selection throughout the day too. We do not always use the Mdr as we prefer to choose when we wish to dine. There are passengers who dump glasses and plates etc in the corridors when it is so easy to leave them in the cabin or leave them somewhere safe. We enjoyed the shows even thought we had seen some of them before, the ice skating is very good and well worth a visit. Overall we loved it and also the opportunity to meet up with friends from previous cruises. Can’t wait for the next cruise. Read Less

Negatives were spent a lot of time at customer services and advise you check your bill for surprises on the last morning that get added even when you owe nothing. Food was of a good/high quality and varied.Waiters and restaurant staff were exceptional. Bar staff were always polite and helpful and you could have a laugh with them. Pool deck was often wet and not cleaned of water so they were a hazard. Pools were closed as children on two occasions were either sick in the pool or something more undesirable was floating in the pool. Smoking on pool deck should not be allowed on a family cruise and smoking on balconies is meant to be banned but the family below my daughters cabin were smoking. And why is smoking allowed in certain parts of the casino on some nights not others? Not all gamblers smoke so why inflict it on others. Read Less

Plenty of lively bars, and a late night club on deck 14 that rocked until 5am every night! So many fun things to do during the day, lots of entertainment by the pool decks etc We particularly enjoyed the casino, which was very busy even at 3am. The staff were really fun. The food was great, we mainly ate in the buffet it was that tasty. I would recommend the drinks package as its nice to try a load of different cocktails, and its nice to not sign for anything lol Overall Ive done 5 cruises, and this was my Fav ship and Fav staff. 10/10 Read Less

For this years' family friends group holiday we decided to go for a cruise - and it was one the best decisions. It is very convenient holiday and yet full of everything. It starts with parking your car and ship attendants are already at the car park to pick up your luggage. Once checked in, and on-board, it felt like completely different world. We even joked among our friends that this is the ideal society everybody should be dreaming of - just show you sail card and you get everything you need! It was the magic of the premium package sticker on the card - all you drinks were free - wow. Just walking in to the Sapphire dining room felt great and we are dining there everyday. Windjammer is a great place to eat with lot of varieties of food. It was so good and popular that often you won't find table to sit down!" There were so many activities and entertainment events going on - there was not sufficient time for all of them. Jogging on track on Deck 12 was unique experience. Overall it was a very good trip. It is a nice ship but I think it does need attention in some areas. The cabin was nice and of a good size, however, the doors to the balcony were very stiff and you had to slam them hard. The balcony itself was in need of a bit of maintenance ie. painting. Outside our cabin the carpet had a musty smell. We did mention it and they did attempt to deal with it and it was better but not solved completely. The food was good in the dining room and the food in the speciality restaurants was excellent, although you do have to pay extra. The entertainment was of a good standard on the whole. Most of the staff were friendly and attentive however there were a few that clearly missed the customer service training. Our biggest problem was the number of children and the fact that there were not enough adult only areas. I have to take my holiday in school holidays now so don't have a choice, but I will not do a cruise again this time of year. Although there was plenty of things for them to do, some thought it was a good game playing in the lifts and running up and down the stairs and along the corridors. Not wishing to sound snobbish but standards do seem to have slipped. Cruising used to be a luxury. We enjoyed the ports of call mainly Barcelona, Valencia and Malaga. We had plenty of time in Barcelona (2 days) however, we had very little time in Valencia which was a real shame. We don't do the excursions as we feel these are far too expensive. Read Less

Great cruise option for families- we loved it and re booked whilst on board. Great food, bars and activities for all ages and interests. Never cruised before so initially disappointed by cabin, basically kitted out with few luxury touches. However it did the job perfectly well if we kept it tidy!! Cabin steward great. Windjammer very busy but served excellent food of a very high standard. We nick named it the crazy café though as it was so busy, we were put off by the plastic plates and fellow cruisers pushing and shoving. Main dining room excellent with great table service. Menu got repetitive towards end of 2 weeks. Pools small filled with sea water. Would do better with 1 larger pool with designated areas. Entertainment surprisingly good- go to see the shows they are great. They don't last too long to take up all your time. Bar service very good with highly trained staff. Some a little crowded with little sitting space which could be frustrating. My child was 11 turning 12 on this holiday. He was in between both kids club ages and felt didn't fit into either. He enjoyed the flowrider, climbing wall and golf. Travelled during school holidays so as expected lots of kids. Number of feral kids wandering about playing in lifts and running un checked was a problem. A fellow cruiser even felt bullied and intimidated by them. This would be my suggestion to RC- to put on some security to prevent kids getting too out of hand- whilst letting them enjoy the safety and freedom cruising allows. Read Less
