I give this a 3 but some areas I would only give 2 Food Main restaurant Mostly Cold. When asked for the food hot, it was warmed up so that it was scalding. This was a daily occurrence until we stopped going into the dining room. The food looked nicely presented - just stone cold. Food Windjammer - Excellent always tasty. Some was a little repetitive Bar - not enough staff. waiting times not good. Never saw a member of staff by pool to get drinks - you always had to get your own and queue at the bar. Ship- Very nicely decorated . Mid size ship. Entertainment - geared to American audience. Guests - Mostly European/Mexican 10/20% UK and USA Rooms- Ours was fine but our daughters had a smell of sewage for the whole time we were there. This was addressed finally on the last day. This was a daily visit to the front desk with a surprised looking staff member and basically nothing done and a felling of being fobbed off daily until we spoke to a manger on the last day. This is not our usual experience on a ship. We normally travel P&O and I would have to say my opinion from this is that RCI standards have slipped dramatically from our last experience with them. This was a Christmas cruise I would have expected a lot more considering this is an optimum time of year. We were given a discount off a future cruise but I done think I could bring myself to invest with them again. Ports of call - excellent selection Transfer to and from ship. Lost one bag at Miami airport. Shocking transition. We had to pick up our bags at Atlanta and then drop to a bag drop. Then they were lost in Miami only to be waiting for 2 hours being told the bag was in Atlanta , to find it after all in Miami on anther carousel. At all costs do not go for a split flight. No security at all. We would normally not see our bags from when we check in at the departure airport. Positive note. We had an all inclusive drinks package , this was a great addition and it could be used on Labadee when we stopped there. The staff were very flexible apart from a rude staff member in the R bar. Every encounter with him ended up in an argument. Again not the service we are used to on P&O. Read Less

We cruised with a family group of 10. Our immediate family of 6 had cruised before but we had 4 newbies. Embarkation went smoothly and we were on the ship by noonish. Everyone in our group had a great time despite our 20yr old dd getting bad motion sickness this time and our 22 yr old ds not listening to his mother and not putting on enough sun screen and drinking enough water. We found the sea bands in one of the stores on day 5 and that those helped dd. We did not try any of the specialty dining. We had my time dinning and requested to be sat with the same wait staff after our first night because our waiters Atacan and Radmir took amazing care of us. We mostly ate breakfast in the windjammer and Atacan would keep an eye out for us and help us find a table and make sure we had everything we needed. I am a picky eater so I didn't care for breakfast in the mdr or the windjammer, but I always found something to eat. But the rest of our group had no problem. For lunch we went to the mdr a few times and the windjammer other times. Both were very good. Oh we did do Johnny Rockets one day for lunch. It was very good but greasy and did not like me about an hour later. We watched the ice show and that was really good. The casino was too smoky to try and go there, just going through that deck on the stairs it was really strong. Our 12 and 17 yr old dds had fun in the teen group. Some of our group tried out the flow rider and the rock climbing wall and really enjoyed those. My husband, son, and nephew played basketball almost every night and we all really enjoyed the movies out on the pool deck. Since we were in the RFS we had access to the concierge lounge. Nadja was super friendly and helped us with reservations and invited us to go on a bridge tour. Lei was the bartender in the lounge, she was amazing and knew what we liked to drink after the first night. Labadee- Half of our group did the yoga on the beach in the morning. We had a Standard Cabana on Barefoot beach club. The buffet lunch was very good. It was not very crowded on that beach, the weather wasn't super great in the morning so maybe that was why. Six of us did the zip line. I was brave and did it, I am so glad I did, it was amazing. Curacao- We did a half day tour with Irie tours, they had open air buses and did a tour of the town and a stop at the distillery and then you could either choose to stay at sea aquarium beach for 1 or 2 hours. We went back to the ship and grabbed something to eat and then went back out to check out the stores around the port. Aruba- Here we rented a 12 passenger van and drove around on our own. We went to the natural bridge, the California light house, the Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins, and we stopped at a beach and swam for awhile, not sure which one. Bonaire- I had booked us a snorkeling trip with Woodwind and this was my favorite excursion we did. The staff is amazing. All of us on the boat were split in 3 groups with about 8/9 people in each group and had a guide. It was a drift snorkel and went along the reef. They had a photographer and you could buy the usb for $40, which was definitely worth it. This was our first cruise with RCI and we booked our next one while on board. Read Less

We arrived at the port around noon. It took us close to five hours to board the ship. There were at least one thousand people in front of us to board. I did the survey after the cruise and expressed my unhappiness about the loss of a whole day just to get on the ship. My response was that I was the only person to complain. She said she researched this and found there was not a problem. Unbelievable, she practically called me a liar. As you can see by other reviews I wasn't dreaming. I have photos of the line but she wasn't interested in getting correct information. I feel my complaint was just brushed off and the response was oh well too bad. Poor Customer Service Response!!!! I called RCCL before booking to ask if they served lobster at dinner one of the seven nights. I was told yes. Well, the part she didn't tell me was yes there is lobster, only if you pay for it. I found that the cruise line to be very deceiving in its answer. Prime rib was on the menu one evening only to be told they didn't have any. They substituted another less quality meat. The entertainment was average. The ship seemed clean and well maintained. Read Less

We chose this cruise because Royal was supposed to be better. IT'S NOT!!! Boarding was a nightmare. The bussed us off to a park and didn't return to take us back for hours. People were taking cabs back to the port thinking they were going to miss the boat. When we got back people were lined up for hours in the hot parking lot. The guest started fight with each other because some were cutting lines because no one knew what to do or where to go! The food on the boat was uneatable, the Scallops smelled so fishy we couldn't eat them and the selection on the menu was mostly cheap stuff like chicken or sold out, they would replace it with something even less expensive. The drinks were made with bottom shelf alcohol unless we ask for a better quality, the bar tenders only knew how to make a few drinks or were told to keep it simple. What they have advertised as the selection of bourbon they do not have on the boat even when we ask for it. Don't order the drink package!! Live entertainment by the pool was only around 2 hours a day. When all of the staff was apologizing to ALL of the guest it was obvious the boat was cutting corners to save money. I just returned from a 4 night Royal Caribbean cruise on the Navigator of the Seas. It was such a terrible cruise experience. My family and I cruise a lot, mostly on on Carnival and Norwegian. We have taken one Royal Caribbean cruise before, and it wasn't great, but we decided to give another ship a try. Bad decision. Check in was so bad. It took forever and the agent we were dealing with lied to us and told us we must give credit card onboard for expenses, that it cannot be done with her. So, we had to wait on a 30 minute line at customer service to do so. NO food was available except absolutely disgusting sandwiches and pizza at the Promenade. DISGUSTING. We checked into our cabin and searched again for food, but nothing is open till 5:30pm. Nothing. We ate at the Sapphire dining our first night and all our entrees were so gross. Overcooked and tasteless. Our waiter was very nice, but we left hungry. Breakfast and lunch was also disgusting. Worst food I have eve had on a cruise ship. We had Izumi for dinner and FINALLY, a great meal. Next day we the at Giovanni's. Worst service and food. I went to a yoga class the next day, and the yoga teacher was either not certified and inexperienced, or just didn't know yoga at all. He didn't even do the poses properly. And they want me to actually pay for this class??? When I expressed my problems with customer service, they offered me 25% off my next cruise with them. What makes them think I would want to cruise with them again?? Lesson learned. There was so many other issues, not just the food and service. All the staff was so disorganized and it was just a waste of money. Broken toilets everywhere, the list goes on. Never will I ever cruise with RC again. Read Less

Great ship great cruise great food great entertaiment great ports of call great drinks package wines and beers and soft drinks as you might have assumed the whole thing was great :) one slight moan there was no toiletrys in the rooms only a small soap no shower gel or shampoo even though there was a shower gel dispenser in the shower we had taken our own so no big problem we called to four ports San Juan Haitti St Kitts & Nevis and Grand Cayman all the ports were nice my wife prefered San Juan mostly because of the shopping none of the ports we called at did we get harrassed by the locals to buy stuff or take taxis like we have on previous cruises that called to Jamaica we dislike Jamaica because of this harrassment and now avoid cruises that go there which is a shame as i expect it is a nice place Read Less

While we have cruised many times on all of the cruise lines being located only 20 minutes from Port Everglades we had only one experience with RCL on the Oasis, and that was a good cruise so we thought we would try them again. Bad Mistake! Our first impression of the ships overall condition was when we walked to our stateroom. The hallways had a severe musty smell to them comparable to a college frat house after a night of partying and vomiting. Disgusting to say the least. FAIL! Stateroom: Ou balcony stateroom was nicely laid out and clean on the inside. The balcony was not quite as impressive with many long black hairs and something the looked like a worm, but more likely was someone's nose snot on the floor gutter. The attendant seemed cheerful and when we needed additional pillows they were brought to us promptly. The bed was firm but we never had any problems like some other reviewers mentioned. Only two of the 8 nights were we welcomed back to a towel animal, contrary to other guests telling us they had a different one every night. The TV had about 20 channels with about 12 of them promoting RCL jewelry, watches or excursions. Excessive to say the least. Four or five more were Latino channels, and the balance of the networks played the same Mike and Molly or two broke girls over and over again! While TV is not a huge priority in the room, it was unbelievable the RCL was too cheap to provide a live feed on most channels. FAIL! Dining room: We had most breakfasts and dinners in the dinning room. While the breakfast offerings were average a best, not once dos the food arrive any where near hot. Lukewarm to cold was the standard. The most annoying thing about breakfast in the dining room was that the servers were so inconsiderate that even with my cane and an obvious difficulty in walking they consistently sat us at the furthest table they could. That was inexcusable. Other cruise ships made the first few tables available hore handicapped guests. We had reserved seating at 5:30 in the dining room so fortunately the seating ordeal only happened once per day. Our waiter Mary, and her assistant Ronnie did everything possible to make dinner a pleasurable experience. A couple of slip-ups but nothing major. They were actually the best interaction with staff that we had throughout the whole trip. A different selection of appetizers and entrees were offered daily as well as about 5 of the same entries offered everyday. Selection was the usual cruise ship offerings but nothing special or above average. Food was usually lukewarm but better than the cold breakfasts stated earlier. BELOW AVERAGE! Pool deck: Probably one of the largest disappointments on the ship. All of the limited amounts of loungers around the pool deck and the adult solarium were blue toweled by 8 a.m. Nobody on 70% of them till much later in the day if at all. by the towel counter RCL has a small sight stating that it's ok to remove someone else's towel and belongings if they were vacant for over 30 minutes. Sure, like we wanted someone to arrive back to start a fight over a lounger. RCL should have their own staff enforcing this policy, not the guests responsibility. The pool hot tubs by the pool were loaded with little kids playing and splashing around while the irresponsible parents ignored their minions irresponsibility. Entertainment was spotty and of poor quality. The adult solariums two hot tubs with a total of 30 back jets had a total of 3 jets between them that were actually working. We provided this information to a crew member and they said they would be fixed. A waste of words, since nothing was ever done, FAIL! Entertainment & Activities: The ice show as others have stated is not to be missed. The performers are a very talented troupe that perform incredible dances on a very small ice surface that looked to be a little soft. The entire show was a delight to all, but I guess the obe elderly man that fell on the stars. No staff in sight to assist him. A definite lawsuit waiting to happen. Lounge acts were good. The usual run of the mill stuff and they offered a Beatles and a Michael Jackson tribute show which we didn't attend but heard they were good too. PASS! Security: The embarkation and debarkation went well as we were placed in the handicapped line due to my disability and and the staff did everything possible to assist us during this process. PASS! The saddest part of our interactions with staff on this ship was when we returned back on ship to go through security. We encountered a smart-ass security crew member that thought it would be funny to insist that my metal can be placed in the scanner while I nearly had to crawl through the security scanner without the cane. He had a possessed grin of satisfaction on his face when I commented that his treatment of a handicapped person was unacceptable. I'm sure that once other people that are handicapped read this, RCL, you've lost another segment of customers.FAIL! WI-FI: Wi-FI cost $40 per day if you didn't sign up for their full trip package. Did I hit a time warp? Haven't seen prices like this since the 80's when dial-up internet was introduced. Coincidentally, the ships Internet was just as slow as dia-up was back then. FAIL! Shipboard stores: While the 12 TV channels constantly hammering out suggestions to buy at the shipboard stores, there was really nothing more impressive than the usual items offered on every other ship. A friend asked us to pickup sone cartons of duty free cigarettes which we did onboard. Four cartons for $137.00 which seemed fair until we toured the islands and found the same cigarettes for $55 for three cartons, about half the RCL rip-off price. FAIL! Casino: We encountered some of the rudest staff aboard the ship in the casino. The cage staff would close up while people were still in line, so we had to go to the back of another line and wait all over again. The slot machines, while nobody expects them to be loose, were the tightest I've ever seen anywhere. Drink service was usually offered about once every two hours, and the ashtrays were never cleaned, or the glasses picked up. It looked like there was one server for the complete slots area and maybe another in the tables area. It was almost laughable when the announcer was repeatedly begging people to enter their slot, blackjack and poker tournaments. Never have I seen any cruise ship have a problem filling tournament slots probably because a re-buy was always offered at a discount. Not on this ship! Full Gouge, or nothing! Bingo: The prices started at 3 cards for $37 and went up to $79 for some additional electronic cards with a free (really?) t-shirt that grandma might use for dusting. Three games wee played with a prize offering from $112, one winner, to $315 for the seven winners that hollered bingo. Now wasn't that a great investment! Overal, the feel of the ship from start to finish was "how can we rip-off the guest, the most". From the $10 (with gratuity) cappuccino to the overpriced Internet and drink packages, this RCL ship felt like it was the Spirit Airlines of the Sea, instead of the Navigator of the Sea. Not one person we spoke to (and there was many) stated that they would ever cruise with RCL again! It's a tired, stinky ship that should become a reef. FAIL! Do so at your own risk. Read Less

Hubby and I enjoyed a relaxing week on Navigator. This was our second time on this ship - the timing and ports just worked out. During this trip we graduated to Diamond level - it only took us 25 years! The ship was in good shape and crew were very hospitable. We really enjoyed the cruise director Jeffrey - funny guy. We take a cab from FLL, because we "want to get there!" without waiting. Embarkation was unremarkable, south terminal of the port. We were on the ship about 11:30, cabin wasn't available until 1 p.m. Our cabin was inside this time, on deck 9 front of the ship. It seemed being in the front, I felt the movement of the ship more on this trip. Luggage arrived before we sailed. Our steward was like a ninja - we rarely saw him, but the room was always made up. Including a couple towel animals for a surprise. One "ew" is that about the second day, I was looking for a shoe and found someone else's t-shirt under the couch. Gross! Also, having been in a balcony stateroom before, I missed the extra space, but we just kept the room tidy, used a lot of organization tips from other reviews on this site and it worked. Bringing a pop up hamper was very helpful. I also threw away paper every day. I used like to save all the cruise compass papers - but this time I just pitched them and it helped keep clutter down. We selected My Time dining, but did make reservations ahead of sailing. This worked out great. We didn't wait for our table and ended up in the same section 6 of 8 nights. Our dining room team were nice guys, but not as efficient or personable as some we have had in the past. A lot of waiting for food, and sometimes the food was not very hot. One night we ate at the specialty restaurant Sabor. We love Mexican food, but were not impressed. The guacamole and chips were excellent though. We had lunch in the MDR twice and it was very good - community seating, nice way to meet others. They have a nice salad bar and will build it for you and chop it with the dressing. We attended the ice show - first time we have seen it. Very good - a lot of different styles of music, etc. Something for everyone. The Motown/Soul show was excellent - don't miss it. Trivia was fun, and another way to meet people and team up. Sometimes we like bingo for something to do on sea days, but we skipped it. It's also getting very expensive and the jackpots are small - I think they are making a killing on it! Ports: Labadee - was a bust, it poured! Our excursion was cancelled. We did wander around for a little while and eat lunch. The BBQ lunch was poor quality and unorganized. We really missed our beach day there, it's so beautiful. San Juan, PR - weather improved and we took the free trolley around old San Juan and visited the Forts - it was National Parks Week , so free admission! Win! Near the port we decided to have a snack at La Cueva Del Mar - everything was very tasty - we even bought some of their salsa to bring home. St. Kitts - Loved it! First time there. We booked a tour through Grey's Tours. We took the Grand Tour along with about 10 others and had a lovely air conditioned mini bus - we learned a lot from our driver, Dwight. At the end, we had the option to hang at a beach - we went to a little funky place called Shipwreck Beach Club - so casual and laid back. Had a few beers, lounged on a chaise and went in the water. It was great. Would love to go back and spend a week on the island. St. Martin/Maarten - we have been here before and always enjoy it. We planned on a beach day and ended up at Captain Jacks along the boardwalk. The chaises and umbrella were $15.00. The water was beautiful. We stayed there all day. The beach service, was sparse, but we just went into the bar and got a few on our own. There were a lot of women passing by selling jewelry, beach cover ups and massages - it was a little much, but...whatever you're at the beach and it's beautiful. The last two days of our cruise were at sea. It was nice to be able to unwind this way before returning home. We spent time in the Solarium, casino, hitting the dance floor and a little shopping on the promenade. The drink package was a good option for us, considering drinks are about 12.00 each for a martini, or 9.00 for a basic well drink. The R Bar has great bartenders - they are artists. Hubby smokes and was annoyed that there was no smoking in the casino at all on formal nights. Most people probably like this idea, but there are very few places on board for him to smoke and we didn't know about it ahead of time. Overall, it was a great week! Read Less

This was our first Royal Caribbean cruise (Navigator of the Seas) after numerous cruises on Carnival and Princess. Our last cruise was five years ago. Embarkation was pretty painless; lines moved quickly. Overall: The ship just was refurbished and was in very good shape. The bars and restaurants were all clean. There were plenty of bars and restaurants. The promenade shopping area is very nice. The staff on this ship is very attentive and friendly; service was excellent. Drinks were weak. There is a constant push to buy an extra shot for a drink, pay to eat in the specialty restaurant, or buy the special chef's choice in the dining room. I felt like I was being nickel and dimed through the trip; too much pushy upselling. Cabin: we had a balcony cabin. The room had lots of storage space. The bed was hard as a rock. The slider was difficult to maneuver but offered a great view. The bathroom was adequate but with little counter space. There was a medicine cabinet, which was nice. The shower was small but functional. Food: This was the biggest disappointment. The buffet food was boring and bland. It was a challenge to find enough to eat for breakfast or lunch. The dining room food was not much better. There were a couple good vegetarian dishes. There are several specialty dining restaurants and they push them pretty heavily; we did not try any of them. Entertainment: The production show we went to was terrible. The dancers were not in synch and the singers were not exciting. There was a Beatles tribute show that was fantastic. The guitar player/singer in the pub (Jimmy B) was very entertaining. We did not try the disco. Movies were shown nightly by the pool. The television in the cabin was very limited and showed the same episodes of Big Bang Theory and Two Broke Girls over and over; dismal. Movies on the television were pay per view; not what I'm accustomed to from Carnival. Ports: We stopped at Grand Cayman and walked around town; been there before. We went on a tour of Hope Plantation in Falmouth Jamaica; that was interesting. I'm not a fan of Falmouth overall versus Ocho Rios or Montego Bay. Our last port was Labadee and it was the best of all; we had a perfect day on the beautiful beach. Debarkation: Very fast and straightforward. You can carry your luggage off yourself, use a valet who will take your bags to the airport for you, or go through the normal route of being called by group according to your travel (flight) time. While we did enjoy the cruise we will likely not try this cruise line again. The quality of the food is a deal killer for us. Read Less

The captain was super hard to understand and didn't really keep us updated. The food in the windjammer was not great. Always the same things and too many rice dishes or one pot dishes. The windjammer was always closed too. The deck was dirty. Needed to be swept and cleaned and dusted. Our room steward was pretty awesome. Her name was Tracy from Jamaica. I loved the soap. The food at dinner was good in the dining room. Service was a bit slow for my son and husband and the other party at our table. The cruise compass didn't have enough details. The shows were not given good descriptions. I sat through mo town which was good but I might not have picked it if I had known what it was. I only saw one comedian. He was not PG. I missed another comedian and I didn't see a magician. The tv shows and movies on tv were awful. I really missed Zumba. They offered Latin dance but the instructor was not prepared, late and had technical difficulties. She couldn't speak English and it was a disappointment. The decor on the boat was nice. The carpet was nice. I wish that sometimes the crew would offer more service. Serve my lobster out of shell, offer straws, napkins. Pull out my chair. A cool cloth after shore excursions. Mints on pillow. Offer bar service a bit earlier. Esp on Haiti. Provide more drink stations on deck. Catholic mass was not offered this cruise. Too short of times in port for my husband and son to see everything. The exercise classes didn't have an Instructor show or the stretching class started late. The music pool side was not great. My son said lines were long to enjoy the flow rider. Embarkation was a bit rough. Hard to find port terminal. No instructions on website. The terminal and parking are separate and very confusing. Not explained on boarding info. We rcd several e mails about our cruise but nothing about getting to port. Disembarkation was dreadful. It took over two hours to get off the ship. I don't know how people flying were able to do it. The shuttle to the parking garage was efficient from the ship. There was too many smoking areas on the ship. On deck by windjammer and pool, in bars on deck. And on deck four. It is 2016. Read Less

Navigator of the seas (Royal Caribbean) Let me start by saying the ship itself and all of its amenities are great. We enjoyed the variety of activities. We also through the ports of call were very nice and enjoyed Jamaica a great deal. That being said this is how our cruise with Royal Caribbean went… My wife and I saved for this trip for a long time and we were very excited to be able to go. We spent a long time reading reviews and looking into cruise lines. We have been on 2 other lines (Carnival and Norwegian) and we were happy with them. I do not believe that our expectations were out of line and we try to be very grateful for every experience we have. Our trouble started as soon as we got to the port of Fort Lauderdale. While in line waiting for the porter to take our luggage we over heard him VERY loudly cussing and complaining about how he was only getting small tips. This went on for the entire 5 min or so while we waited in line. He seemed to get louder and more angry as we got closer. When it was our turn he stuck his hand in my wife's face and said very roughly "do you have a tip for me"? We had decided not to tip him because of his language and attitude (VERY BAD DECISION). As we walked away we talked about what he might do to our luggage. So we now got on the ship and headed to our room. We found our floor but we were stopped and told our room was not ready because they were behind scheduled. We were told it would be around a half hour and we were ok with that. We spent about 45 min looking around the ship and then headed back to our floor. Again we were told that the room was not ready. So again we walked around while we waited. It ended up that we waited over 2 hours to get into our room. Still not upset by this point. Things happen. When we finally got in the room we started to unpack our carry on's and look at the room a bit. The room itself was typical in size and layout and what we expected and paid for. What we found as we looked closer was disgusting. I went to put some things in the draw next to the bed and found a male sex toy. The draws on both sides of the bed were full of an oily substance (you can guess what that was I’m sure). We immediately went to the front desk to complain and ask that our room be thoroughly cleaned. The guest service person was very apologetic and said she would take care of it. We headed back to the room and waited. While waiting we found that the safe was broken and not working. By that time the room attendant and his supervisor came in and took the trash can the toy was now in and said they would clean the room. A few min later he came back with the toy in his hand and tried to tell me it was a party favor they were handing out during the last cruise and that it was not a sex toy. I have pictures if you would like to see them and I am not naive. From what I had heard of the last sailing and what I know of things I can say that %100 that it was a sex toy and that it was disgusting! They cleaned the room but the drawers remained oily the whole trip. So now it was past dinning time and our luggage was just getting there. And as expected the handle on our suitcase was broken. Back to the customer service desk again. The person at the desk asked that we bring her the luggage and that they would try to fix it and if they could not that they would compensate us for the suitcase. She told us that she would call us the next morning to let us know the outcome. We were as polite as possible with her but upset by that time. The next day was a day at sea and seemed to be ok for the most part. We did start to notice two things that made us a wonder if this was a norm for Royal Caribbean. The majority of the staff had a very hard time understanding English and small things were let go for longer periods of time. For instance one night in the dining room I ordered stake and the server repeated shrimp. I said not steak and again he repeated shrimp. Finally I said no steak and pointed to the steak on the menu and he smiled and nodded and walked away. When the dinner came he brought me shrimp. This was a common thing with the majority of the staff. We also noticed things like dirty dishes being left to sit on tables for a very long time. Or cleanliness issues not being addressed for a very long time. All of the other cruises I have been on the staff was on the ball and took care of these issues quickly. The next morning came and went and we got no call about our luggage but we had a day planned so I did not want to bother with it. We headed to our stop on Grand Cayman and our excursion. We were supposed to do a 4.5 hour excursion with part of that time spent swimming with stingrays and part swimming with dolphins. As we got there they sent us through some type of bird encounter which we found odd but we went along with it thinking it was filling time until the boat was ready. Next we took the 20 min boat ride to the sand bar where the sting rays were and spent around 15-20 with them before being told to load up. After the boat ride back to shore we were loaded back on the bus to go back to our ship even though every person on the bus except for 2 was agreeing that we paid to swim with the dolphins. They said that that was not part of the price and to talk to Royal Caribbean. So back to the ship and back to customer service we went. This time we were told that our issue was going to be brought to the attention of the excursion manager and that he would call us. At the same time I asked about our luggage and was told that they could not fix it and was given a very poor quality suitcase would probably half of what I paid for the one that was broken. With out a call or any follow up we notice a $20 credit for our excursion and not a word (call) about the mix up. So we missed well over half the excursion but were only given less than quarter of our expense back. Not real fair and not very professional if you ask me but they didn't bother to ask. The next night we went to a show and I purchased a drink for my wife and I before the show. The theater was not that busy yet. The waiter brought us our drinks and he gave me my card and recite. back. I didn't bother to look at the card I guess that was my fault but 4 hour later when we tried to get back in our room I found out that I had gotten the wrong card and that someone was using mine so back to customer service we went. This time we asked to speak to a manager. We just wanted to get off the ship by this time. We were brought into a back office and spoke to the assistant service desk manager. After telling him our story he polity apologized and said something along the lines of these things happen let me buy you a dinner in one of the specialty restaurants. We explained that we were not looking for a hand out but that we wanted to know if this was normal or if it was just us. Finally he set us up to go on the wave runners in Labadee even though we had an excursion planned. we accepted thinking we could do both. The next morning we headed to the stand where the wave runners were and we were told that it had been canceled. We found out a few minutes later from another passenger that they had received a call the afternoon before letting them know that it was canceled. That means that the assistant manager the night before knowing how upset we were didn't bother to check and set us up on an excursion that had already been canceled. And yet another let down. The food in the main dining room was so so all week but that last night we actually got up and left due to the quality of the food. The chicken was like shoe leather and my wife said her food tasted funny. So now that I have said all that you deiced was it just us and we had a fluke string of bad luck or is it this way all the way around Royal Caribbean. You deiced. Read Less

We chose this cruise around our booking of time share in Florida. Our cousins have been asking to join us on a cruise and this was it. We shared many activities with them and as well enjoyed he ship and activities alone. It was the first time aboard a RCI cruise and found they nickel ed and dimed you for many items that are available on most cruises. We have been on Princess several times which is great and NCL about 5 times before and once on Carnival. The debarkation was somewhat confusing as one of our cousins was in a wheelchair and we followed them for a while until NCL told us we were not allowed and we had to follow a line that took an extra 60 minutes to get through. If they would have mentioned that at the get go we would have been off the ship within a normal time. Other wise the cruise was successful and off to our time share for another week in sunny Florida. We signed up for this cruise the year before while on an Alaskan cruise: husband, daughters (2) with their husbands and both sets of in laws (2 grandbabies have since arrived). We had a balcony cabin and the others had 4 inside promenade rooms across the hall from us. We arrived in Fort Lauderdale the before and stayed at the Embassey Suites on 17th. Across the street were a grocery store, Totally Wine and restaurants. Kelly's Landing was a great place for lunch or dinner. We had the shuttle service from the airport and then to the port the next day. Happy hour and breakfast are included. We got to the port around 11:00am and had. Very short wait until we were getting our picture taken on board. Windjammer for lunch, always found good things to eat, but love going to the main dining room for breakfast and lunch when available. We didn't do any of the specialty resturants, we had a table for 10 and two high chairs at MTD of at 6:00 PM every night. The waiter had fruit every night first off for the Grandbabies. I enjoyed escargot every night! We had really good food and service. We tipped the guys on Laberdee to get 8 lounge chairs and 2 cabanas for the day right near the water. The weather was sunny and warm, everyone enjoyed the water. I used my water shoes, because it was rocky in spots. We didn't arrive into San Juan until after 3 PM, we hired a van to take all of us to the Barardi Rum factory, stopped to buy lotto tickets ( it was for the BIG one) and back to the port area. St Kitts again we found a van and driver to take us on an island tour, $20 pp, babies free. St Martin we pre arranged Jo Junie Tours, which I had used last year when my husband I were there. Tour included Orient Beach, Sunset Beach (airplanes over head), geckos, and monkeys too! We went to the diamond lounge a few times, but enjoyed having the three drinks on the card available too. The ice show is a do not miss! We didn't go to any of the other shows. The staff that we interacted with were all great, friendly and helpful. We left the ship after breakfast in the dining room around 8:30 AM, got through customs, called Embassey Suites and spent another night there. We could've check in yet, but they store the luggage and we went poolside. Great cruise was had by all! Read Less

This was our 3rd cruise but our 1st RC cruise, we found ourselves comparing the 2. We cruised with some friends who. Had never been on a cruise, they have been to several all inclusive resorts which they were comparing their experience to. Embarkation went quickly & smoothly, our rooms weren't ready until about 3 which was no biggie we went about exploring the ship & had some lunch. When we got to our rooms which we both had the same category room ( large oceanview), our rooms were the last 2 rooms aft on the level 6. Even tho we both had the same type room our friends room was approx 4.5 to 5 feet longer than ours. We had a love seat size couch & our friends room had a sofa size couch, this was because there was a storage closet taking up the difference. It wasn't a big problem so much that we wanted moved but it would've been nice to know when we booked that there was that much difference in the room size. The buffet was good but we actually liked Carnivals buffet better. There was one morning that there wasn't enough seats In the buffet that we were seated in the Italian restaurant. We ate in the dining room 5 of the 8 nights, we had the my time dining, but found that making reservations was preferred. I am on a special diet & the head waiter was awesome & made sure that I was able to see the next nights menu so that I could make my selections. The waiter & asst. waiter we had the first night were outstanding! The next 2 nights we chose to not make reservations & the waiter & asst. waiter was friendly but very very slow! Dinner on both those nights took close to 3 hours!!! So for the remainder of dining room meals we made reservations & requested to be moved, and the service for those nights were back to outstanding! All of the food we had was very good, it was always hot or cold when it was supposed to be! On the sea days we tried to get deck chairs near the pool but found that unless you got out there before 8 am all those chairs were taken. Even with the signs up saying that you aren't permitted to save chairs, that's exactly what was happening & the no saving chair policy was NOT enforced. So we got up extra early & and got seats but we didn't leave towels on them & go to breakfast we stayed In our seats! Some of those said chairs didn't have anyone in them until close to 10-11am!! During one of the at sea days they had an Armenian lunch & activities which is fine but it would have been nice to know ahead of time. The ice skating show was AMAZING!! The comediennes were hilarious but the musicals not so much. My hubby is a drinker so he got a beverage pkg, they had a water one but it was for Evian water which is just nasty! They did sell Dasani water but only thru a vending machine in the gym. It would have been nice to have the Dasani or purified water included in one of their beverage pkgs. The one thing we really was disappointed that they didn't have was self service laundry facilities. And their laundry fees are not cheap. To have a pair of jeans cleaned was $4.95! A bit too pricey! Disembarkation was a bit slow. I'm disabled and have no problems with people in scooters or who use walkers/canes but the line we were in was next to the handicapp line, the couple we were with went thru ahead of us but right after them several scooters, wheelchairs & people using walkers were lined up, they let all of them thru because their policy & that's fine but the couple we were traveling with were already in a taxi waiting for us before we could get thru the line! If their policy is that they need to go before non handicapp then they should have a separate line for customs not to stop our line completely. Read Less

Our cruise party consisted of Mom, Dad and 3 sons ages 12, 15, and 18. This was Mom and Dad's 8th cruise (3 on Celebrity and 5 on RCCL) and the sons 3rd cruise. The boys previous cruises and our most recent 2 had been on the Freedom of the Seas sailing out of Port Canaveral (Eastern and Western). The only thing that keeps our cruise from being rated excellent is the embarking at Port Everglades and the ability to receive timely bar service (more about that later). We drove down from Greenville SC on Christmas Day afternoon, spending the night (free points stay) in Daytona Beach at a Residence Inn near the racetrack. We then drove the approximate 3 1/2 drive on down to the port on Saturday morning to board the ship. From my understanding, Terminal 19 that we used to board the ship is not used that often. The NS was only doing about a 2 month Holiday rotation from its regular Port home (Houston). We arrived around 11:45AM and found the security to enter the docking area to be quite heavy. It took about 15 minutes to just clear the 1st line of security. We proceeded over to the area to drop our luggage and encountered some rude people who had left the vehicle there unattended and were engaged in a long conversation with some baggage personnel. What should take 2 minutes took about 10 minutes. The parking garage for Terminal is not convenient to the ship. It was called Mid Terminal Garage and was about a 5 minute drive through a bunch of security. We parked on the 4th floor and then had to take a shuttle van back to the ship. We were already looking forward to this exercise when left the ship the following Sunday after the end of the cruise--not. We knew then that it would be a pain to lug all of our luggage on a shuttle and get it up to the 4th floor of the garage. The amount for parking was $120 dollars or $15 a day. When we exited the shuttle van....the line was snaking out of the one story Terminal 19 building. We got in the line and it moved very slow. After about 30 minutes we had made it to the security scanning machines. After getting through that....my 15 year old had a prescription bottle of quarters that triggered the machine and led to a bunch of unnecessary questions...we then saw what we faced. RCCL was way understaffed to load a ship of this size. The way they had broken out the lines had our group - Deck 2 was in the very longest line. And to make matters worst they were funneling the wheelchair folks through our line. It would have made much more sense to have those folks with the Diamond Line that was non-existent most of our 1 1/2 hour wait. When boarding the Freedom both times, it took about 20 minutes from when we entered the line to when we boarded the ship. If this was my first exposure to cruising, I would have been ticked. Needless to say, once they were herding us over to take our boarding pictures we were in no mood to smile at them. The only good news was when we stepped on the boat around 2:45 PM the cabins were ready so we were able to drop off the kids shoulder bags in our room and change into our swim suits from our pool bag. Our cabins were outside #2252 and #2254 that had an adjoining door. Our 3 sons slept in one room and the two of us had the other room. Of course, when booking you have to show an adult in each room. We need the adjoining room and having the 2 bathrooms is a must. We headed up to the Windjammer and had a late lunch. We had no trouble finding a table. Please let me make this very clear, we found the food on the entire ship to be a solid 92 out of a hundred. There were tons of choices in the Windjammer. We had breakfast there everyday. We had lunch there except for the 3 days that we were on Labadee, StKitts and StMaarten. For those who do not care for the food, your opinion is respected but I would like to know what you have to eat when you are not cruising. After lunch we explored some. We were so relieved to see that the pool area looked great (we had seen the pictures) and that without the kiddie area that the Freedom has seemed to be somewhat larger pool-wise. We walked through the promenade mall area and did feel that it was somewhat shorter and not as wide as the Freedom. The Flow Rider area was smaller also but the 12 year old was more than fine with it. We participated in the life boat drill and were fortunate to not be standing in the direct sunlight. After that we watched us sail away, the kids took off to make friends and explore. And Mom and Dad found soft comfortable chairs in the Solarium. This is were we spent all of our at sea days and the time when we were in port. Loved the comfort of this area. I go up early each day and got us some chairs (not just toweling them either). I would take a nice nap there before the family found me for breakfast. To just go through the general list: We were concerned when we booked a ship class less than the Freedom Class but this ship was great. It was clean. The staff greeted you. It was in great condition. The amenities was very similar to the Freedom in the areas that mattered to our kids and us. The dining (I covered the Windjammer) was very good. We had late seating (our preference so we can enjoy the ship without having to stop for dinner) at a table for 10. The family we dined with were great. A family of 5--mom, dad, 20 and 25 year old son and daughter along with the daughter's boyfriend made for a fun dining experience. They were seasoned cruisers (Diamond) and thought that the ship was great also. We did compare notes each night and had a few of the same complaints (mainly bar service). We enjoyed our meals and our waiter Imade was the best waiter that we had ever had on a cruise. His assistant was shaky but that was a point of humor between us and our tablemates. The cool thing was that Imade took care of everything (drinks, extra desserts, coffee, etc) that we needed. We dined at Giovanni's Table on San Juan night (just us parents)....the boys ate at Johnny Rocket's. The steak I had at GT was amazing. Wife loved her food, also. The only negative was that one of our appetizers was not close to being warm....but we just let it slide. The boys loved being on their own at Johnny Rockets and had a blast from the reports we received from them. While we all enjoyed our upcharge meals we really do not see a need in the future to leave the MDR for our evening meals. Our table mates passed on dinner that night also.....they ate and drank a bunch in San Juan as planned. Pretty much everything we had in the MDR was delicious. Again, not sure where and how the complainers eat at home but we loved the food. We enjoyed the ship provided. The food was fine but the setting is really nice. We rented 3 mats here from RCCL @ $17 each....the same mats were $14 each about 18 months ago. The 18 year old did a RCCL provided Waverunner shore excursion for $98 and they would not allow his 12 year old brother to ride on the back so Mom went for $98 plus little brother for another $30. I was against this because I know that Waverunners can be had for $50 or so dollars all over the Caribbean and the 2nd rider is free but lost out in the discussion. I think that it takes gouging to a new level. Our 2nd stop at San Juan we did not arrive until after 2:00PM which limits the amount of daylight. We walked with the boys to the San Cristobal Fortress.....$5 for 3 of us with the other 2 free. Really amazing views from there and a really large place. We walked back through Old San Juan and before you knew it, darkness had fallen. Some light shopping and we were back on board by 6:30PM. Third stop at St.Kitts, we had arranged for a tour with Gray's Island Tours. $48 per person and we had Mr.Thenford Gray, himself, directing our tour. There were 17 of us on the tour and it was OUTSTANDING. We were treated to a play by play about St.Kitts island history by a smart, humorous, and entertaining gentleman that you will ever meet. Our stops included Romney Manor, Brimstone Hill Fortress, an amazing mountain top stop to see where the Caribbean Seas and Atlantic Ocean meet, and ended at a beach at South Friars Bay. The information and good times that we experienced on this outing exceeded our expectations. Mr.Gray is a treasure. His knowledge of the plant life in the gardens at Romney Manor was borderline genius. Fourth stop was St.Maarteen at Phillipsburg. We chose to do a tour with Bernard's Tours. We had done this about 3 plus years ago on the 1st cruise with the kids. Our tour guide this time was Mailman and he was outstanding. Couple quick stops at a seaside location with great views, a location with about 25 or so iguanas, then an 1 1/2 at Orient Beach where we got 2 chairs and an umbrella for $10 at LaPlaya seaside bar. The boys and Dad rode a banana boat here for $15 each. Our chairs came with 2 tasty fruit punches. We then headed to a ocean side open air market in Marigot. We chose to grab some amazing French pastries at the Mailman recommended Sarafinas. They were amazing. Last stop was at Maho Beach at the Juliana Airport to see the planes land and take off. This is an amazing site. The 1st time we visited the boys talked about for weeks. This stop was really good. We saw 4 smaller type planes and 2 decent size planes land while we there. We missed the big Dutch Airbus because it was running late by about 30 minutes. We did see it as we were driving out of the area. No matter great time was had by our family. We were very entertained by Mailman with running commentary about the island. There were about 15 of us in a very well air conditioned 22 bus/van. Complimentary Carib beer, water and soft drinks, along with Mailman's own special brew of rum made the day even better. We chose to be dropped off at the ship after 5 or so hour tour. High recommend. Our cruise included 1 full at sea day on the front end and 2 full at sea days on the back end. Those days were enjoyed just lounging in the Solarium and hopping in and out of the pools. A highlight was experiencing the New Year's Eve Celebration happening on the Promenade. There was a countdown clock, great music, lots of partying, etc. We had a great view from one of the small balconies on the 7th floor overlooking all the fun. Best NYE ever for our family. Kids all made their own friends and headed out each night to hook up with their groups. We bought 1 soft drink beverage package $8 per day or so and 1 non-alcoholic drink package $22 per day or so. That one included the Starbucks drinks, frozen drinks at the pool, fresh squeezed OJ, soft drinks, bottled water and a few other bottled drinks. At times at the pool bars, it took a long time to get served and the bartenders were chippy when you ordered a non-alcoholic frozen drink or soft drink. They should take that up with their bosses....we were just playing by the rules. No biggie but RCCL needs to stop this behavior. The shows were a mixed bag. We do not like the production shows. If they sang some songs from the more popular Broadway shows that might make it different but no thank you to Bob Fosse. We did enjoy the ice skating show, the Vox Audio singers, The Love and Marriage Show was decent this time mainly due to the older couple, Voices 3 (Tenor singers), the comedian Carl Banks was outstanding both the regular and adult shows, and Chuck Gunther a comedy juggler was very good. The comedian Chris Bliss was very average, both his regular and adult shows. Good news is that we saw Carl Banks late in the week so that removed Chris from our memories. We did not care at all for the cruise director.....probably the worst that we have ever experienced. Some things about cruising today that we wish would change.....somewhere to catch a free movie on board besides on the big screen over the pool. The times never worked for us. And does RCCL think that anyone really wants to pay $12 for an in room movie in their cabin. Taking time away from the flow rider so you can upcharge folks to use it is very poor and are two things that come to mind. No waiters carrying sail away drinks due to the selling of the drink packages is missed, too. We did love the overall friendliness of the staff on this ship. The folks in the Windjammer were so on the ball. Love the chance to grab a slice of hot pizza after midnight. We experienced nothing bad on our cruise except for the boarding issue and a few snarky bartenders. We had a great cruise on the Navigator. An overall grade would be say 92...very good just short of excellent. Debarking was not fun (but it never is) but we did roll off our own luggage and even after having to take a shuttle over to the garage (which means hauling very heavy luggage on and off said shuttle) we were on our way home by 7:30AM. Next cruise is March 26 on the Brilliance of the Seas and then our old friend Freedom of the Seas on December 18 and we can't wait. Read Less

I went on Navigator of the Seas December 12 from Fort Lauderdale and sailed for the next 8 nights. I enjoyed having the extra night and day and have previously gone on a 7 day/night cruise. This is my second RCI cruise and I have gone on Majesty's weekend cruise in the past. It was not easy getting on the ship. It took a very long time to navigate the long line that took perhaps over 2 hours to finally go through. This might have been Port Everglades problem since it was in the old terminal which they are shutting down soon. Getting off the ship was not so easy either and it was a very long wait in the old terminal again to finally get though customs. Going through customs was simple once I made it through the line. I would recommend this ship and absolutely would go on this ship again. I was pleased with the staff throughout the cruise. The waiters at the 5:30 dining were exceptional. The room steward did a wonderful job as well and I give the staff very high ratings. They clearly made an effort to keep the passengers happy and I saw them catering to many guests and always attempting to satisfy throughout my trip. Overall, I liked the entertainment although I did not like the Quest show. I know lots of people like it, but it gets old really quickly and I don't care to see older passengers passing around their dentures to others in order to win a competition. There definitely should be an alternative show at that time. Also, I enjoyed the ice skating show however there was another time that the ice show was the evening's main show when many had already seen the show. At that time, there was no alternative main show and there should have been another show for those who had already seen the earlier ice show. I did like the comedians overall and the Elton John singer/comedian as well as the comedian/impersonator were amazing. I didn't care for the 2 musical/dancing shows which I thought were just boring. I usually like those kinds of shows but the material just seemed inferior even thought the actors might have been talented. I was not able to tell. I did like the ports---Labadie, Haiti, San Juan, St. Kitt and St. Marteen. The stop in San Juan was way too short. I believe it was because the ship wanted to limit the port costs and have us spend more money on the ship than in port. This is a theme that I saw running throughout the cruise. Gone are all the little extras that RCI used to give such as little chocolates on the beds, birthday cake for a birthday (I did have a birthday on the cruise and got a dessert that was offered that night but it was not a cake and was not enough for my table). One of my main complaints is that a picture costs $20.00 and RCI does NOT even provide a folder/envelope for you to protect your pictures that you purchased. They are promoting their $26 or $27 photo album instead. For $20 I would expect a protective folder. They are saving lots of money by not having to print every picture like they used to. Now its all computerized, so give us a little something for our money RCI!! I did NOT buy a drink package since I am not a big drinker at all. It did not make sense to me to buy the $67 per day package that would have included unlimited drinks. So, the alternative was to buy a few drinks. I was shocked that the alcohol drinks after the 18% gratuity added in came to $12.92. That is ridiculously expensive for a drink. I realize booze is the way that RCI can make money to pay off their debt of new ships, but that price seems outrageous. Fortunately, the drinks at most ports are like $5.00 and we drank off of the ship when we were at port. I can understand why so many people smuggle their booze onboard since its crazy expensive to have a drink. I enjoyed dancing every night in the Cosmopolitan Room and enjoyed some of the music--I did like the 70's and 80's. Hated the latin music but still danced to it and refused to dance to the line dances which I hate. But I did have fun up there. I was surprised that there was never a outside pool party with food. There was a karaoke party outside that not many people attended....but there was no food at all. Maybe that is why no one joined that party. I also enjoyed Karaoke a couple of times. They had a competition at the end of the cruise. I would have preferred no competition since some I not want to compete but just wanted to do a song without feeling like I was in a competition. I thought the food was good overall. I always had at least 2 entrees at dinner. Breakfasts were very good with egg white omelettes. And I really enjoyed the salad selection for lunches. Even in the main dining room, they had salads that were diced up for you in a bowl. You can eat all the time and even late at night. Good selection of food and I was always satisfied. There were lots of elderly people on board and lots of motorized scooters and walkers. That did not bother me at all and it kept the number of people in the gym which I attended daily down to a minimum. If there were younger people on board, I think it would have been more difficult to get a treadmill since the gym seems very small for a few thousand passengers. They do have a steam room and sauna at no extra cost which was nice. So in conclusion, there will probably never be a perfect cruise. However, I really had a great time overall. I would recommend this ship and I was overall pleased with the experiences I had and would certainly book on this ship and other RCI cruises in the future. Read Less

Just back home to Scotland. Ship was excellent as is norm but this time the theatre shows were so poor and amateurish and very little live entertainment at pool.I overheard some staff in windjammer talking about other staff and on the ramps to the tables where i had ti squeeze between them wirh my plate and some of them were miserable looking, again not the usual courtesy you get. The only other thing was the hard selling tactics on the ship from shopping to waiters directly asking us when we were going to order more cocktails!I did find out later from a female waiter at the bar that they are on commission!says it all. apart from that had a wonderful break but royal carribean needs to inform guests why they don't port for whatever reason.we were due first portvif call to Bahamas and by sheer luck I checked messages on stateroom TV where we were informed that it was cancelled.. Later managedvti find out that unsafe for tenders due to high winds but they should have announced this..other guests complained about this too. Read Less

We are a cruise short of Diamond Status and this too was our worst cruise ever. I will admit that my review is tainted by the 3 hour wait we endured outside the terminal in 90 degree heat to get on board coupled with the total failure of RCCL to step in and address the issue. The power was out in the terminal and I get it is not RCCL's fault but their failure to even minimally deal with the plight of thousands of their passengers stuck outside the terminal on a very hot day was inexcusable. There was no alternative plan to get the passengers on board with the process taking 3-4 hours on average and more than 7 hour to board all the passengers. After obtaining our seapass, the first three RCCL employees we actually encountered were hawking photographs, beverage packages and spa services. Not one person was at the entry to the ship to say hello, offer a cold drink or even the offer slightest of apologies for the delay. The only time anyone spoke to the issue was when the cruise director commented over the airways that the boat drill and leaving the port would be delayed due to the terminal issues. The boarding process was so bad and RCCL response so inadequate that it lingered for us througout the entire cruise making this cruise the worst we ever were on. Unfortunately, it did not end once we did enter the ship. Upon entering the room, both of us immediately ran into the foul smell (you guess) that ran throughout the stateroom. I will say that we went to guest services and it was addressed quickly and was not an issue the rest of the cruise. As to the Navigator itself, obviously the ship has been updated in some of the common areas but those areas that were not are showing it's age, an example our stateroom. By the way the glass on our balcony stateroom and most of the glass on the ship was the dirtiest I have ever seen. The MDR food was fine, with our MDR waiters being the best part of the cruise. On the other hand, the buffet was the worst ever on any cruise we have taken. From breakfast to lunch and dinner the food selection was limited, virtually unchanged everyday, lukewarm with many dishes downright visually unappealing. We actually enjoy the buffet experience while cruising but this one was rock bottom. By the way the promenade cafe was equally as bad as the buffet. The entertainment was anywhere from amateur hour to average. Clearly the overall experience depends on the level of ship you are on. Having been on the Oasis, Allure and the NCL Getaway all in the past 2 years the level of service offered, the quality and variety of food offerings and the varied more professional entertainment experience was dramatically different. We never encountered any issues on any of these ships even worth a mention. As a result of this experience if we ever do return to RCCL it will only be on Oasis and above class of ship. We have been on the NCL Getaway twice in the last year and likely will go on the Escape next. We actually consider the Getaway to be the best cruise we have been on and was the best value to boot. The final fitting end to our Navigator experience was the departure which was to start at for those wanting to carry off their luggage at 6:00am which we took part in. Only issue is the the terminal apparantly does not open till 7:00am. Around 6:50am I happened to see several customs officers walking in uniform from the parking lot into the side of the terminal clearly arriving for work at 7:00am. Around 7:05am we were allowed to disembark. Hey RCCL how about maybe next time verifying with the port what time they actually open for business. This cruise has so annoyed us because RCCL failed to take responsibility for their passengers. The port is part of the experience and their washing of their hands does not cut it. Diamond status can wait a long, long time because it will be a long, long time before I return on a RCCL ship. Read Less

The power was out in the terminal and I get it is not RCCL's fault but their failure to even minimally deal with the plight of thousands of their passengers stuck outside the terminal on a very hot day was inexcusable. Around 7:15am and 1:15 minutes after announced departure time we were allowed to disembark. Next time maybe the ship should coordinate with the port what time they actually open for business. I would talk about the upcharge restaurants and tours but I refused to spend anything more than the minimum on this cruise. We were to leave out of Galveston on Sunday October 25th. Because of a tropical storm the captain made the decision to stay in port until Monday morning. It was somewhat disappointing but the weather was horrible with heavy rain and winds. Everything on board was great, they just couldn't open the shops or the casinos. Other than that it felt like you truly had started your cruise vacation. On Monday morning the captain did a wonderful job in maneuvering the ship from its pier. It was quite the big deal as he had to make a 80 degree turn in a very small space. The winds were howling and if you were outside like us it was cold and very very windy! Once he had done his fantastic job we were on our way. 5 hours later we were in sun and warmth. What a difference. The ship looks beautiful with the renovations. I really have no complaints except that I felt the room steward really didn't care about you. He was nice, but not the friendly persona I have been used to on my other 6 cruises with Royal Caribbean. On the other hand, Patrick our waiter at table 420 was fantastic. He met all our expectations and more!! The order of our ports had to be changed because of the late departure. We went to Honduras, Belize and Cozumel. In Honduras we took a beach tour, in Belize a city tour and Cozumel a shopping tour!!! Spent too much money. LOL.. Departure was hell! My son-in-laws luggage was lost and it took almost an hour for someone to finally find it. The lines through Customs were so long and there was no organization. I've never experienced those problems at any of the departure ports in Florida. I will always remain a RCC Fan. Excited that I am now in the Emerald class. Can't wait for my next cruise.! Read Less

Was on the Navigator in 2013 and had bad experiences. It was going in to be refurbished . RCCL was so gracious to give us a discount for our many problems with our state room. The updated ship was great. Our room was wonderful, all the staff was great, we enjoyed our cruise so much more than before. The food was excellent. The mingle and meet was very nice. A lot of members already knew each other from the roll call. Great time to meet new cruisers. We enjoyed the growth at the berth in Jamica with new business. Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville was the best for free wi fi. Look up Laura to wait on you she goes beyond just being a waitress. We didn't have to go into town all the shopping you could want is right outside your ship. We would do it again. The entertainment was 5 star. The ice skating is a must. The entertainers we almost Vegas Style. The hot tubs were HOT not only heat but with the friends we met in early AM. Be sure you check the new Flowrator surfing. If you don't want to try, just watching was entertaining. Read Less

Ok, not our first cruise. Have cruised Norwegian, Carnival and Royal. We choose Royal because our last cruise was great as far as the ship was concerned. Hats off to Cat at the Solarium who always knew our name and drink, even when changing venues at night..he can save the night!. Ella and team at R Bar..true mixologist and need to make a youtube video. You girls rock! Daniel the Whiskey expert on the Promenade is just fun! I believe his friend was Nola, they rock too! Muareem and Sheetal on 5th floor dinning room..Thanks for knowing we needed extra shrimp cocktail each night before we asked, always making sure I had the correct food for dietary restrictions and for even keeping me eating something that would probably make me sick later:) Thank you Kwame Matthews for finally getting me out of the cabin that was going to land me in hospital with pneumonia. Now on to the complaints. We exited the elevator to our room on the 8th floor with a balcony and were immediately met with the smell of mold. Now, I know I have sensitive nose to this because it is my asthma/bronchitis/pneumonia trigger but after sometime my hubby could also smell it. We immediately called, someone came down and said they could not notice anything. We called again and someone came and said they would shampoo the carpet in the morning, to which I explained that would not get rid of mold, he could do the hall but not the room because it would make it worse. Now on top of the mold the room was warm. We figured it was due to it not being set on low, so we turned it down and went off to explore and have dinner & dance. We got back 11:30-12 and the room was steaming. 3 people later and now it is 1:30 am the best solution we can come up for mold and heat is a fan! Well this tends to make one grumpy, sleepy, not feeling well, & well you get it so Monday both of us were not in great moods. Oh, I forgot to mention that we paid for internet because we had some business stuff to take care of. It took 3 phone calls to get that where we could log on( which consumed the bulk of two lost days) of internet. Once we could log on, the service was so slow we could only load one page and the internet would freeze. So, we had already complained so much we were hesitant to address this issue, they did give us one day credit due to log on issues but we just said forget it on the slow service issue. OK, back to mold, finally on day three after telling them they would need to pay my medical bills we get moved to a room on deck 2 that someone unexpectedly deserted at Cozumel. FYI, they eventually after other complaints found a leak on deck 8 and had fans out trying to dry it out..they will need to replace the carpet. Other than the ones mentioned above and a few others, service was non existent. We (and I mean me and hubby, hubby &friends, me &friends, etc) could stand at a bar that was not busy and not even be acknowledged, even with a “hi!’ At R Bar they would be swamped 2-3 people deep and they would ask what you wanted and tell you just a few and then when got to you repeat the drink back. At the Windjammer forget it, the salad bar was so lacking it was pathetic, you could get “gluten free, just ask” but good luck finding someone to ask. And it closes at 9 pm so you are really out of luck if you don't make dinner because your selection is the Promenade cafe which is even more skimpy than the Starbucks selection (well other than if gluten free they do have Udis GF snickerdoodles which are a huge treat) Leaving the boat/getting from venue to venue…well heaven help you if you are elderly and with a walker or wheelchair. First you have to wait 5 or more minutes for an elevator and then make sure you get on a floor that will take you to the other end of ship you need to be on and then catch another elevator…just a tip, allow 30 minutes to get somewhere. Oh and if you need to leave the ship make sure to not ask the staff, find someone to help you. We saw quite a few elderly wandering hallways frustrated trying to figure out how to get off the ship or get to whatever end of the boat the activity was going on. Entertainment, I will be honest we knew we would be bored. We are used to poolside activities starting at 9 or 10 am poolside (swim up bar) and being on the hour something to entertain us. But this was horrible, big screen videos which only encouraged people to watch tv and commercials for RC. Good grief, we are already on RC, do something to encourage us to come back. What no late night buffets, no theme nights. We even had discussed booking a Mediterranean cruise for the discount while onboard but as the trip went on we decided we would book with another cruise line. Before this trip we would swear by RC, not now. I honestly think the prepaid tips encourage lack of service. Those that getting marketing, the ones that we gave a shout out to, got extra tips. We are not hostile, ignorant travelers. But we appreciate those that go out of their way. We will give extra at end of trip, if you make yourself memorable, then you get extra for it. I have spent hours talking with the staff, I know what they do is not easy. I too am in a service per se industry…people are hard to deal with…but those who can market day in and day out and keep the charm on…they get extra reward. So…long review…sum up. Unless RC gives me on heck of a deal for my Mediterranean trip or something, I will not do RC again. We thought Carnival was lacking on service when we went (and it was only in bar area, not eating or room, we always had a towel something awaiting and dancing by waitstaff and midnight buffets) RC really disappointed us this time. I cant logically give a one so 2 is the overall rating..if not for the people we were with and the people we met and have already contacted after getting home and our excursions and the great staff we mentioned, it would be a 0 Read Less
