We could not have asked for a more seamless, fun, educational and entertaining time on the cruise. We boarded in Mykonos (we had been there 4 nights), spent 3 nights on the cruise, and disembarked in Santorini (where we stayed 4 nights). The ports were AMAZING! Our first port was Kusadasi, Turkey. Had this not been on the itinerary, we would have never gone there. It was THE HIGHLIGHT of our entire trip. We are not history buffs, by any means. Ephasus was the most breathtaking and educational archaeological site we have ever seen. The marble streets were breathtaking, and words cannot describe how awe inspiring the excavations were. Our tour guide was superb! It is a must see. The port town of Patmos was great (food, shopping), and the Medieval City in Rhodes with the Street of the Knights were also excursions we would highly recommend! Life changing for sure! The part that made the entire time on the ship the most fun was time spent at the Argo bar with Ajit, Ernie, and another bartender who's name I can't remember (not because of the drinks, but because I couldn't pronounce his name). They were energetic, poured a mean cocktail, and overall made us feel like part of the family during our short 3 night stay. They also gave us tips on where to visit in the ports we visited. Without them, this cruise would have simply been a taxi from one port to another. Ajit and Ernie are the best! Because of them, we would go again in a heartbeat! Read Less

We were with a group of 150 visiting Athens and this short 4 day trip to the Greek islands. My wife and I have done over 25 cruises, mainly Royal Caribbean, Holland, Celebrity and Disney--cruises to Caribbean, eastern and western and southern routes, Med and Baltic cruises. Fastest embarkation ever. We were on the ship in a flash. Luggage went up a moving ramp and on the ship. Cruise left at 1130am so they had to empty the ship and load in a few hours. We even had our luggage before the ship left.It was a good way to see the Greek islands...a sampling of the Greek food, so we were happy. Embarkation adn disembarkation went smoothly. I really loved this cruise.Excellent embarkation. In conclusion i will recomend it. Read Less

We departed from Mykenos and in the three days on the ship, we visited Kusadasi, Turkey, Patmos, Rhodes, and Crete. We disembarked at Santorini. We took excursions at Kusadasi and on Crete, and found them to be well-organized, albeit quite pricey. This was the third cruise we took as a family of four (10- and 17-year olds) and by far this was the least satisfying of the three. First, some general thoughts. 1) Other than our cabin steward, the crew always looked and acted as if they were utterly miserable. That air of unhappiness in infectious. It was a rather stunning contrast to the other cruises we've taken. 2) The cruise line nickel and dimes you to an extreme. 12 euro for a key for the safe in your cabin? Really? 6 euro for an hour of Wi-Fi. It offers a unlimited drink plan, but when I went to buy it for one day for alcoholic drinks, I was informed that my wife and kids had to sign up for the non-alcoholic drink plan, which all together came out to about 70 euro for one day. 3) The food was generally dreadful, though the tea-time cookies and other treats were quite tasty. If you wanted something slightly nicer, like shrimp or steak, it was 15 euros extra and up. 4) The entertainment was subpar at best. On that last point, the first of two specifics: A part of one evening's entertainment, the New Amsterdam Singers, were a well-meaning group of 70 New Yorkers all 50-years and up. Were it Christmas time, and were the audience the same age as the singers, they may have been an apt choice. But that wasn't the case, and I'd say 30% of the audience took a walk. My daughter sings choir, so I soldiered on. Their song choices included Christian hymns which didn't bother me at all as I am Christian, but I could certainly see that bothering others in the audience. At one point, the octogenarian troupe leader announced one of the songs as a traditional "negro working song" which, again, was an accurate description of the song, but overly sensitive people could easily have been offended. Just not a good choice by Bruno the cruise director and his staff. My second specific is quite a bit more troubling. At the beginning of the cruise I registered a credit card so we could make payments on our cruse pass card. At the end of the cruise we were informed that we had to provide a credit card for payments. I asked how we could have possibly made all the purchases that we did on the cruse card if a credit card was not registered. They had no answer for that other than to say something happened to the system. When I asked what I should do if those charges ended up showing up on my credit card statement on top of the charges we payed for the sending time with another card, the representative had no answer to that either. Overall, I would take serious pause if you are considering taking a cruise on any Celestyal Cruise ship. Read Less
