Just Ok

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Splendida

Ship is nice, big with lots of spaces. Service is average. Onboard activities during extensive sea days is very poor. Communication on ports to self navigate and what is happening is non existant. In cabin TV has nothing to watch. Other than destinations we wanted to see was why we booked wouldn't travel again on this ship line. Unfortunately due to conflict we lost 3 ports in Egypt and no new ...

Unbelievably Bad

Just stepped off a 9 day Med cruise on MSC Splendida. This was my 11th cruise but my first with MSC and it will definitely be my last. The positives; its not a bad looking ship, bars, resturaunts and theatre look attractive. Our balcony cabin, aft facing, was large and comfortable but that's about all I can say that's complimentary. The negatives; the food was, for the most part, atrocious ...

We chose this cruise for its destinations. We were a family of three, booked a Balcony with Fantasia benefits. It was our 29th cruise overall. From the time we booked our cruise in January and confirmed it in March, this was not a good sign, that things were not going as we pleased.. Check-in in Trieste, Italy was okay! We checked in at 10.30 a.m. Left our check-in luggage and ...

If you’re not a kid, don’t bother

Chose this cruise for the value and destinations. 5th cruise we’ve been on. Beautiful boat but plenty of things let it down. Things to do: in one word BORING. Lack of activities, terrible music and shows, and not one place you can go without kids. Casino full of kids running around and even the nightclub is run by 15 year olds drinking mock tails by the bar. When I asked the staff where I ...

VESSEL GOOD BUT AFTER SALES SERVICE POOR!

We chose this cruise as part of a package tour of Egypt and jumped at the chance to (hopefully) enjoy the cruise atmosphere as well as visit Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Unlike other cruises we have undertaken, the food was average at best, with the buffet very underwhelming. Where we really struck poor service and very poor responses was where there were agreed refunds for things like cancellation of ...

Our First Cruise Ever, and Probably our Last

Today we’re on a cruise for the first time, but this is been such a poor experience I wonder why people do it at all. We were excited and read everything from the cruise company, many reviews and watched videos from cruisenews, Emma, and Gary. Before this, I was thinking hey - we can cruise to the Arctic circle or go transatlantic instead of flying, but now I’d really have to think. What sort of ...

A disappointment all around

Embarkation and disembarkation went surprisingly smoothly. Cabin was adequate but we couldn't enjoy balcony due to chain smokers on next balcony. Unfortunate because husband got quite ill with bronchitis and URI and were quarantined on day 6. MSC says smoking isn't tolerated on balconies but maids apparently missed clue of ash tray on balcony. Bed was comfortable. Food was below average. ...

Mediocre Cruise Made Bad Due to Poor Service

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Splendida

This was our 4th cruise, and our 3rd in the Mediterranean; we are two mid-30's Americans who live in Switzerland. It was also our first (and last) on MSC Cruise Lines. If everything was executed perfectly, the cruise only had the potential to be mediocre – but time-after-time the staff either made mistakes or were simply rude in a way that really ruined the experience. The issues started even ...

First and final cruise!

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Splendida

Pre-trip - we had to ask for the itinerary about a week before we left and then received it in Spanish. When I asked for an English copy I was told there wasn't one yet a German lady on the coach had an English copy. The coach journey (from hell) - 10 hours cooped up listening to non-stop female German speakers; then 10 hours on the return - we should have been warned! Barcelona hotel and ...
