Great cruise, still room for improvement.

We chose this, our first cruise for two reasons: 1. The rest and relaxation it would afford us and 2. the places we would get to see. We were not disappointed; every place had its own unique history and was a worthwhile visit. I wanted to go over the equator by ship and the cruise line I chose was the perfect one. Plus the dates fell on my birthday .. this was awesome. The entertainment was perfect perfect. Cruise from South Africa with interesting destinations. The staff were very friendly and the entertainment team great. I liked the way that the whole entertainment was involved and everyone in the team played an important role. The food was good as well as the bar service.

We did this cruise because of the itinerary and timing, having done the return trip via the W. Coast 4 times before - but never on the Sinfonia. We had been told that she was a nicer ship than the Opera, but did not find that to be the case.

I am a marine engineer, worked on ships and tugs my whole life, for once I wanted to be a passenger. As I have spent my life in small cabins the size of the cabins on board did not bother me. The company that I work for have had new tugs built, which also use passenger ship shower/ toilets and on these the shower curtain does not hug you as you turn.

We had spent 5 weeks in Dubai and Southern Africa and saw this 21 day itinerary from Cape Town to Venice as an attractive way to travel to Europe.

Exceptionally good value for the cruise.
The ship was well maintained with the exception of the cabin air conditioning which was contaminated and resulted in upper respiratory tract infection. There was the usual problem of people reserving sun loungers for long periods of time but not using same, this needs to be addressed by MSC crew.
