I've cruised Carnival, RCCL, Norwegian, and Disney Cruise Lines over the past 20+ years so I wanted to try MSC Seaside. Overall it was a great cruise. Very fast embarkation process (35 minutes from entry to terminal F to on the ship). Very Beautiful ship. Cabin was good size (9216 Aurea Suite) with a very large belcony. Buffet on decks 16 & 8 were good but almost identical in food choices and serve 95% of the same food choices ever day. Deck 16 Bascayne buffet has the only free ice cream machine, deck 8 Marketplace Buffet is much larger. Nightly dinner in the Seashore Resturant was excellent And Melvin our head waiter and Lindsey our assistant were were outstanding (Thank you so much for the great service if you sre reading this). I did not try any of the specialty resturants but my friends did and the reality enjoyed them and I did not use the fitness center. The Easy Drink package was perfect for me, it had all the different drinks I enjoy. The ship was always spotless and very clean. The staff were always very polite and enjoy talking to you if you let them. There was a very large number of foreign travelers from outside the USA and it was great talking to them and learning about there countries and culture. The showes were all excellent every night. Venchi Chocolate Bar was outstanding especially their Chocolate Martini. There was always plenty of activities going on day and night (Thank you and Great job to Eric our cruise director, you did a fantastic job) The only real downfall was that the in app (MSC for ME) texting did not work well at all for me and any of the others I was traveling with. No towel animals. I did not like having to have a bracelet on the entire cruise just to be able to use the water slides (I am 52 years old, I am not a child except for at heart). I did not care for the 5pm arrival at San Juan (everything was closing or closed, I wanted to do the fort tous but the were already closed. I also would have liked more time in Saint Martin 7a-1:30p was not enough time to do any real tours because alot of places were not even open yet when we arrived and by the time they did open it was time to leave. The few downfalls did not by any means ruin my cruise. Overall it was an Outstanding Cruise at a very fair price. I would definitely cruise with MSC again. Read Less

Well, we just got back home from our first Crouse with MSC Seaside. I tell you we had the best time ever. They got me upset at first because of some ship rewards in the Casino. But I got over it the service's was great the ppl on the ship were good. Our Balcony stateroom had a tub and shower so we were delighted. The food was alright but the steakhouse was awesome. The drink pkg was worth it we just had a good time. I know I did I even jump on a 70 dance box on the 70's night. So I know I had a good time Lol.we won in the Casino , the drinks were great, Carmen in guest Services was the reason my whole trip turn into great. She was a great help to us. So the next time we decide to go we will think about MSC. Read Less

MSC is a great cruise line that we first went aboard several years ago in the MED. My wife and I have taken 6 different cruises with them and found all to be just fine. The best part is the shows at night. Second to none. The performances are just great. The food I am o Heart Healthy diet and they do a great job putting all my meals together. We eat each meal at the Buffet. So to fix it seperate is just great. Plan on another cruise with them in December. We have sail many times with Carnival and Princess. Both are o.k. but they are not MSC. The ships are just beautiful to walk around and look at. Yes you have to overlook the many different cultures but ever be afraid to learn from others and their way of life. Thank You Joseph Hardin Coxs Creek KY Read Less

It started off great. I was going to sail on the very ship I have admired for years from my balcony as a resident of Miami. The embarkation procedure was seamless. The cabin was very nice. The steward was very friendly and did a nice job. Then the 1st lesson started as 1 of the many sales pitches got me to purchase the upgrade to the seafood fine dining restaurant on night 1. Stale bread and frozen butter to start, minuscule over frozen crab portions next, and a simply horrible meal to . finish. Write that one off...not here to complain. Next, we sent out 4 shirts and 5 dresses to get the wrinkles of packing out using the laundry package that I paid 30.00 for. The next day our cabin steward arrives at our door with his boss to let me know they ripped the collar buttons off of a brand new 100 shirt and offered me champagne as a token of apology. I didn't accept since my accomplice doesn't drink and it would have gone to waste for the most part. The rest of our ironed items were still very wrinkled so we never used that service again. No worries...I'm there to have fun. Write off #2. Next, I spent over 5 hours with various members of the "customer service" desk to get the free internet working on my phone since there was a hurricane pointing at my home and I wanted to be available for family. 2 IT (internet technology) techs, 1 multimedia tech, and about 6-8 different others all couldn't get it to work on a very common apple XS phone. The internet on the ship was horrible as I heard from many others. For the rest of the cruise, the food at Roy's 3 restaurants was very good, the buffets were pretty average good, the pizza was a great idea, and the ship dinners (we went twice) was very acceptable. But the staff was definitely not overly friendly. Most of them didn't understand english very well, which is kind of odd for a ship that sails out of Miami...and Spanish wasn't their language of choice either. To wrap it all up, the customer service desk didn't want to offer me anything for the bad meal, the damaged shirt, the internet that didn't work, or the the poor laundry service. But they did however offer me a refund of the gratuities that I was charged for all of the people who are there to make my experience a good one. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ABSURD AND WAS THE PERFECT REFLECTION OF A COMPANY THAT DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES. I absolutely refused to screw those hard working people and was given a card to email "customer service" in Ft. Lauderdale I'm guessing. The auto responder said I'd get a response in 7-10 business days...I wait...nothing. Then I called them and get placed on hold for almost 2 hours before I hang up in disgust. I call back and tell the receptionist about the incident and she promises to get it to a supervisor. The next day I get an email stating that they are sorry for all of my inconvenience and offered me 30.00 off of my next cruise and didn't even address my issues! That was it!!! And the funny part is that I was a rated player in the casino...I'm sure that they'll want me back. I'LL NEVER CRUISE MSC AGAIN. Read Less

Background This was my 80th cruise overall, with most of them being on Celebrity in the past, followed by Royal Caribbean, Princess, Holland America, Cunard and Carnival. We found an incredible offer back in February on this 7-day cruise and could not pass it up. My partner and I went and traveled with a close friend of ours who booked a solo cabin. Pre-Cruise We started our journey in Miami. We actually flew into Fort Lauderdale the day before, picked up a rental car and enjoyed lunch before heading to Miami. We checked into the Holiday Inn Seaport and then returned the rental car. We took an Uber into South Beach for dinner before retiring for the night. We checked out at 11am and headed to the port via an Uber, which was very inexpensive. The Ship We arrived at the port and were onboard before noon. The entire process was easy. The ship is stunning. Magnificently constructed, although the gray and burgundy theme inside was not my favorite color palette, it was gorgeous. The layout was fun and different than any ship I had been on. The majority of the fellow passengers were from Europe, and we loved it. Our stateroom was on the 13th floor, a balcony aft. We had booked an inside guarantee and the upgrade fairy gave us a kiss... the first time ever for me to have this kind of upgrade! Also, MSC did a status match of my status with Celebrity, which was amazing. We loved the aft elevator being right outside our door and gave us quick access to the upper pool deck on 16 or the adult only pool on deck 7. Also, the buffet on either deck 16 or deck 8. Our stateroom was very spacious and perfect, I could not have asked for anything different. Food is always subjective. I have to say in my opinion, MSC does a very good job. The buffets for breakfast and lunch had a beautiful array of foods with a lot of variety. Overall everything was very good and we were always more than happy with what our choices were. At dinner, we had the 7:30pm seating on deck 5, table for 3. The food was very good, I still give Celebrity tops, but I have to say I think that MSC rivals the food that the rest of the lines offer. Service in the main dining room lacked a bit, our team had 3 other large tables of families, and they were all high maintenance, but we were patient and enjoyed. They do three seatings in two different dining rooms. Very courageous, but they pull it off.. the thought is exhausting to me if I were a server! The shows were excellent. We saw two, which we booked from an interactive screen onboard. We saw Wizard and Starwalker, both excellent. Just like the dining times being divided into 3, so are the shows. The theater is small and intimate, I think the smallest I have encountered. I did notice the missing orchestra pit and musicians, which I did really miss. Overall a great experience. The onboard entertainment was excellent. There was always something going on, and the live musicians were all very good. There were theme nights throughout the cruise that for the first time I have ever seen... people participated with vigor! They brought outfits and all. I have to say, I do not know how they knew about them as I never saw anything about them other than the white party, which I saw a post on Instagram about. The ports were great, although I would like the port times to be tweaked, but I understand the logistics with the 7-day itinerary. We were in San Juan first, from 5pm-1am. We walked into town and did dinner and had some cocktails. Next up was St. Thomas from 7am-7pm, we went to Secret Harbor and had a fabulous day of snorkeling and lounging. The restaurant there is not great and expensive, but the rest of the day was perfect. Third stop was St. Maarten from 7am-2pm, which is really too short if you want to go to Maho or across to Orient Bay, so we just walked into town and enjoyed our time. Last stop was Nassau from 12pm-6pm, where we went to Junkanoo beach which was just a few minute walk and we had a great day there. The chair hogs were out in the most amazing display I have ever seen. During peak times on days at sea I would say that 80% of the chairs were sitting empty with towels on them. Horrible. And nobody policing them. This is where the line needs to step up their game. The adult pool was great, although it was very deep at 6'5"... so be aware. It is salt water, which I loved. We had the easy package included with our stateroom and it was fantastic. They let you get two drinks at once, so we would often do doubles as their pours are small. If you want a foo-foo drink that is over the limit, they let you order one as a virgin with a shot on the side ;-). The internet was the best I have ever experienced. Instead of charging by the minute they charge by the GB. I loved it. I had a 3GB package included with the room and I worked every day and only used 1GB of it. If you avoid social media, videos and pics you are golden if you need to work. It was fast, too. Very happy. In the end.. MSC, you have us. We loved it and cannot wait to return. The value for the money is amazing. Read Less

We are just back from 1 14 day back to back cruise on the MSC Seaside and wanted to share our thoughts. I am a very critical person when travelling. Firstly I am not going to compare the Seaside with any other cruises we have sailed on which include Carnival, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean as I believe all have their good points and not so good and it is unfair to compare. The Seaside is a lovely, clean and very impressive ship. There are not many times you feel like you are onboard with 5000 passengers let alone another 1500 crew. We experienced only a very positive interaction with crew members with many taking time out to say hello and a general friendly approach especially to our 2 grandchildren who got lots of attention and high 5's. Embarkation and debarkation was very smooth and quick . Cabins - we had a balcony cabin and whilst cosy for 2 adults and 2 children it was comfortable and clean. Space can be a little tight but we adapted with bringing over the door organisers. I cannot comment on the room steward who whilst wasn't very visible always kept the room clean. Kids Club - our 2 grandchildren loved it and although we wanted to spend some good quality time with our 2 grandchildren on board it was nice to get those couple of hours to ourselves once in a while. Shows - a little confusing at times and some acts repeat over other shows later in the week but they are very professional and enjoyable. The Starwalker Michael Jackson tribute and show end on the Friday is a must see. You get a bit of everything at the shows, singing, dancing and Cirque de Soleil type performers. The beer prov children rated comedy show was very funny and a good watch. Food - we ate in the buffets for breakfast and lunch and the main dining room for dinner. This was probably our biggest disappointment. The buffet is a little repeatative and sometimes a little lacking in choice but the pizza is great and the late night cookies at the snack station were wonderfully soft and delicious. we ate in Ipanema main dining room and the waiting staff were friendly including the maitre d's even dancing with our granddaughter and always asking if we were ok and had a good day. service was a little slow on occasions and the very odd dish was not great but we felt the food could have been better overall. Guests - it is a very multi cultural guest list is the most polite way of putting it but again with 5000 guests from 120 nations you are going to get some who do not share your manners, standards and etiquette. Don't be put off by the completely negative comments you read about the MSC Seaside, I am very critical and would describe our experience as positive overall and YES I would sail with MSC again. We picked this cruise because the price is reasonable/cheaper than Carnival. 1. The embarkation and disembarkation were smoothly. 2. Ship is new and clean 3. Cabin is small just like any cruise ship cabin. The shower area seems small. 4. Breakfast/ lunch is good. Formal dining at night is good (way better than Chili’s, TGI Friday’s, Applebee’s . Comparable to Red Lobster but fewer selection. 5. Entertainment is great. Quality of shows is excellent. 5 stars to Steve Young (director of entertainment). All of the family shows are great, Peter Punk, Butterfly, Michael Jackson. But all adults shows perform by a group of 4 person is just ok. Would like to have few standup comedians shows. 6. Service is good. 7. Port and shore excursions have good timing. Except Saint Martin 7am to 2pm. We would like to go again. MSC going to have new ships in 2022, definitely looking forward to this one Read Less

Very nice open ship. It has not stolen his name Seaside , you are very close to the water. Friendly staff. Very high end decoration Cabins have a very good size. The beds are top . Normal size bathroom with real door not a curtain ! The closet could have been better placed a it was difficult to slide the doors ( have a look to aida prima , much better designed ) . Good size of balcony with sliding door. Very good dinning options . You can have free room service , which can be great if you take breakfast in your own cabin /balcony to enjoy a bit of tranquility. The food is really great . they should just leave more time between the dishes so you can have a more dinning experience. Free food tour in speciality restaurants was also great . Nice bars and atrium. Entertainment is nice altough it is always a singing performance but with variety , except for the comedy show. Duration perfect 40 min , not to short , not to long . Great slides and waterpark. 5D dinema for 10 dollars and 10 dollars for Zip line is a must do ! Nice Spa, but small ) although a prefer a open spa with a view on the sea (see adida prima ) . Good , but expensive massages. Service is good , bu they should clean up the aft decks close to buffert more often , as the birds are at ports always "attacking" the left overs. With the wind all food and others are on the decks , should be taken care off ! Also only 2 toilets for woman next to buffet could have been doubled . Time at ports can be very short , shore excursions are okay , but organisation is chaotic. Prices are rather expensive for what it is , sometimes we had even to buy on top our own lunch. Went also on Seaview is same ship Read Less

The Seaside is a beautiful and elegant Ship. The Spa is so amazing. They have to have more Latin Food, Caribbean Food, variety. The Casino spectacular and the Waiters at bars and restaurants excellent. I am not to happy with The ports of calls since they are the same since MSC Cruise came in 2014, so we are so tired of the same ones already. They are more ports like Puerto Plata, La Romana, Dominican Republic, More of Aruba, Curacao, etc. Also the entertainment actives are great. Thank God they are having more latin DJs. The most beatiful thing are the shoes, The Broadways styles shows, they are amazing. The Welcome back to the ship in some of the ports are so great! Read Less

We don’t drink and didn’t have a drink package. It was exactly the kind of vacation we planned on having. Embarkation was legit the best we’ve ever had. We thought our Disney cruise was decent for embarkation, but now compared to msc Disney needs to step it up. The entertainment was good. We loved most of the shows. We weren’t huge into the musicals but the acrobatics was jaw dropping amazing. We would easily go back on the seaside again. The ship was gorgeous and never once felt crowded. Even the port we had to tender in it wasn’t crowded. Our kids loved the kids clubs and miss them so much. Wish we woulda booked a 14 day cruise. Read Less

MSC- Money Sucking Cruise When my friends invited me on a 8 night 7 day cruise (this being my first time ever going,) I was highly estatic and filled with excitement at the possibilities of seeing sights and enjoying myself on a beautiful ship. First off, some background info is due. I am a military vet and I also have around ten years of experience of clientel, service, sales, and management. From our first step on the boat my party was offered dinning and drinking packages, understandable it being the first day (we all received a basic drinkers package and 3gbs of wifi with our itinerary,) but the sales NEVER STOPPED. When I say never, they were trying to sell us packages on our last day while we were eating dinner! Putting salesmanship behind me, my party was very much looking forward to night swimming and enjoying ourselves when all the kids were in bed. Negative. MSC closes their pools 6pm regardless if the sun is still up. Don't ask me why or how, but if they are lacking night time lifeguards they can sure use those salesmen offering us stupid packages! Which brings me to my next point: if you want to be served at the bar, expect those "free" 14 alcoholic drinks (which are limited basically to gin and coke, mosquitos, and long islands ONLY,) expect them to come in little fake plastic glass cups, be warm and roughly 30 minutes late. Don't like the drink? My friend MSC has your back! Go to another bar and it'll be served completely different and also in a different sized cup. First stop, the wonderful and beautiful streets of Pureto-Rico. We landed roughly around 6:30 and we were due back around 12 am...guess we are drinking again tonight fellas because everything else was closed! The majority of the food? Required reservations ahead of time (if you do find yourselves in the happy lands of heat and music, please order a Mofongo from your boy, thank me later). Our first day at sea in my opinion was a wonderful experience...thats only if you enjoy pools (that close at six mind you!) and sun. The waters were warm and I believe from the ocean since they were salty (I prefer cold water to refresh me when I swim personally,) and we found ourselves multiple times searching for a spot to sit and raise a flag for it was crowded. Beware of the main pool on deck 16! Looks like a giant pool but half of it is ankle deep? What?! When the sun became bothersome I found myself in the wonderful MSC casino..if you are a gambler like me, I hope you enjoy one blackjack table and one table of 3 card poker against dealer...besides that there are slots... enjoy! Oh and no smoking unless you enjoy facing the corner wall!!! Our other stops (St. Thomas, Bahamas, Virgin Isles,) I highly recommend you walk off port and find your own "extersion" we hired a driver for 20 dollars a person and received a 3 hour tour of one of the isles and it was wonderful. In comparison I paid 89 dollars to touch a sting Ray for five minutes then sat on the beach on one of the Bahamas islands...you do the math. Now we get to some juice, put on your reading glasses folks (if you haven't already, sorry for the long review!) because here is where it gets good in the third act. You. Will. Be. Charged. 87 dollars and 50 cents for room service. Even if you don't use them / call them / need them (like my party,) not in the paperwork you say? Say no more! Step on board and welcome to MSC! May I offer you one of our wonderful and expensive food packages while you are enjoying your dinner with your family? Please note, all of the above was told to 3 staff members and one manager who ended our conversation with "If you have any problems call customer service" and literally ran away to hide from me without wishing me a good day or sorry for my troubles (I spoke sival, lucid, and clear where the manager clearly didn't speak English.... properly.) Money Sucking Cruise gets one fat star for the beauty, the music at the nightlife (after 11pm the Disco room behind the arcade that is NEVER used is the place to be (25 dollars for 30 minutes of bowling what?!)) and they also get one star for a wonderful server and waitress who provided 5 star performance at dinner (buffett only had hot dogs and burgers from 11-5pm what?!) before their manager told them to stop socializing with us (which we resented him for) So please don't choose MSC...please don't... Please do not waste your money, you will be very disappointed. The cruise ship itself is beautiful, but they are constantly charging extra for even the smallest things (Zipline, Gelato ice cream, a decent meal, etc) Our balcony cabin was very small and we had no hot water in the tiny shower. Asked for it to be fixed, it never was. Housekeeping was terrible. We were having to ask every day for fresh towels, and they do not provide bar soap.. only a terrible body wash. At the bar we waitied sometimes 45 min to get a drink. They are very under Staffed. The buffet food was disgusting, and they had no variety. If you wanted a decent mal you had to pay a fortune to go to the speciality restaraunts, and even if you bought the "dining Experience" package, you were left with 2-3 choices, and no opportunity to upgrade the meal unless you wanted to fork over another couple hundred dollars. Poolside on the 7th floor they refused to play any fun music they played elevator music, when I asked for more festive music and to turn up the volume a lttle, I was ignored. I left the ship in tears after saving for this "luxury Cruise" you are better off to book Carnival! The food is better and the ships are well staffed. I had planned on booking the MSC to Italy next year for my husbands birthday, but I now will NEVER Cruise with MSC again. Horrible experience Read Less

I was offered a deal for this trip which included alcohol and some beverages. The price was not to bad. With that said, here are the bullet points. I will list the bad first so we can end this on a good note for MSC. I had heard that getting on and off the ship was quite difficult. We didn't have to much trouble except they had two men double booked into our room with my fiancé and I. They didn't take them off but just said not to worry about it. We kept seeing their names of everything we did for about 3 days and then were removed from the list. At most ports they only had one person doing disembarkations even when there were 3 stations. We did see them use 3 people twice and when we left the ship on the last day. The first thing that happened which was not the way to set the mood was that I went to the bar and asked for a glass of prosecco or champagne (our drink package included all beer and wine and bottom shelf cocktails up to $6) and was told quite rudely that it wasn't included in my package. After paying for a glass I went to a different bar and was told the same thing. At dinner they brought the wine list and there was champagne for $6. I asked and the waiter said, of course its included, with a very nice smile. This continued for the next few days with one bartender saying yet and one saying no. At the CC cocktail event I asked to speak to the bar manager. A not so very pleasant individual who said there must be a lack of understanding and communication and walked away. Not sure if he said anything to the staff but I didn't have that problem again. The room was clean and well furnished but with only a chair in the room and two small draws like sock draws there was no place to put our clothes. We had to live out of our luggage for 8 days which we had to put on the chair and the two small nightstands we had to bring around for that purpose. Food, While I wasn't impressed with the food it wasn't terrible. Not what I would expect from a European cruise line, especially the Italian items. The tiramisu was nothing but sponge cake with not lady finger to be found. The chicken parm, I don't even know what to say about that. We left dinner without eating and went to the buffet, on ITALIAN NIGHT, on an Italian cruise line!! I am posting some pictures to show some of these things as well. WE did pay for the upgrade to two dinners. What is called the duo. We chose the steak restaurant and the Asian restaurant. We didn't really see anything on the menu that came in the package but was told that if we want to upgrade we would only pay half of the listed price, remember, on top of what we paid which was about $35 a person per meal. We upgraded to a tomahawk steak for two and two main lobster tails (see picture of tails and menu). these were not Maine lobsters but warm water tails. The steak was cooked almost to perfection but wasn't seasoned to much. Kind of bland. The tails ( we ordered 2) were quite small. When the bill came they had charged us full price for the tails and half price for the steak. They said that only one item would be reduced, of course. The bill was about $159 plus what we paid already and we were about $230. Little steep in my book Entertainment reviews were not very good. Complaining that there was a lot of opera. Not on this cruise. Entertainment wasn't bad. Not a big as other lines I've been on but ok. Its not a very big theatre so not very big shows. Mostly circus type theatre. Acrobatics on the stage with singing. I do not understand why they put a platform in the middle of the pool deck. I see the big H (helicopter) on it so it may have been required by law but to cut your pool deck by more than half was a mistake. It was very hard to find a lounge chair and if you went up to the other levels they allow smoking, including cigar smoking. We had to move quite a few times. The itinerary for the ports was done poorly. We got to Puerto Rico at 5 PM and left at 11:30pm. Not much you can do or see at night. St. Thomas was full day and our best port. St. Marteen was another half day from 11:30-5:30. Nassau was also a half day. Maybe loose a port and stay longer. For the first 4-5 days there are people trying to sell you upgrades to both dinners and drinks. It was a little much after the first day. With all that negativity here are some pluses. Our cabin steward was awesome. Always there and if we had a request he was right on it. The ship was clean and neat, if not laid out to get from one end to the other without changing floors. The food in the buffet was decent, not great, but not bad. At the Cruise Critic cocktail event the captain honestly told us the reason for the cocktails and cake was so we would all write wonderful reviews. I'm glad for his honesty but that's a little much. This was our 5th cruise but our first MSC. We chose this cruise because it was a new ship and had many activities for our 2 boys (11&13). But did not know that there was an extra cost for zip lining, bowling or arcade room! We had the Aurea pkg, which was a higher end pkg that they do not provide any longer so there was a lot of confusion on board. From the moment we stepped onto the ship we encountered small issues but were annoying. Staff was very pushy as we took our first steps on board in regards to specialty dining and drink pkgs! and continued through out the week. Ship was very understaffed, private functions constantly held at the sports bar and we could not enter. sports bar only had 4 draft beer out of a list of 17!!! Some staff were rude, if you spoke Spanish or were European you were treated and served quickly. Ship was very crowded, poor service at bars. My boys were turned away at captains dinner night because they were not in long pants(nice dress shorts and button up dress shirt) we later found out people were at dinner wearing shorts and jeans! My boys were last ones served at bar for ordering pop because they were kids, only served quickly when I was present. We were on 14th floor with balcony, nice room but very small bathroom especially shower. Entertainment was a mishmash of dancing, singing and acrobatics...no real theme. Michael Jackson night was better. We witnessed someone in a scooter be denied access off ship because too difficult to visit Island....so wrong! as well they have no priority disembarkation protocol for wheel chairs, people just pushed forward to get off. Thermal spa was fantastic. Embarkation & disembarkation was quick only because we had priority in both. MSC you are a beautiful ship but boy do you have a lot of learning to do!!! we have decided to take a break from cruising and once we return it will Be ROYAL CARRIBEAN. Read Less

This was our second voyage on the seaside within the last year. MSC Cruise lines was kind enough to give us discount credits since we were on the divina during hurricane Irma. I didn't care where the ship was going, I live in South Florida and Hawaii so I get my full share of palm trees! The seaside is an absolutely beautiful ship and very very well kept. The staff has come to understanding how to work on that ship and things flow very nicely. The drink packages and Internet packages that are offered by the cruise line are hard to beat. Even the easy drink package which doesn't give you top shelf liquor will do the job and get you all the soda, quality coffees, and sparkling water that you want. The best part of the cruise for my wife and I were at the dance classes and activities. Every morning on sea days there was an aerobics class and several dance classes available all the way into the evening hours. Also a highlight are the production shows. They are not your typical production show song and dance popular songs. They are elaborately costumed events involving singing dancing music and circus. I would say it is similar to a Cirque du Soleil with a different theme every night. And there is the Opera, it is shown in the afternoon during a sea day so if you're one of those that wants to oil yourself up and be shoulder-to-shoulder with a thousand other people on the pool deck you are more than welcome. However if you want something totally different that is extremely emotional and beautiful, go to see the Opera. The only thing that was disappointing throughout the entire cruise was the dining experience. The marketplace buffet is absolutely boring. It reminded me of my days in the Navy seeing hamburgers hot dogs and Pizza with overcooked meats every day over and over. There was always a mystery white fish available and some sort of sauce but it was always hard as a rock and tasting just like one also. The experience in the restaurants was a bit better. The foods were served up timely and presentation was very nice, however there was nothing ever really exciting about it. There was never that food item that said "I want to try that"! All in all it was adequate and it was put together pretty well, but it was not really a memorable experience. Overall for the price point it is very difficult to beat the MSC experience. I would only hope that they would liven up the food venues a little bit more so that it isn't so boring. Read Less

Second time been on this cruise. After last year MSC became the cruise line of our choice and for the second year in a row they did not disappoint. We have now booked to go on the Seaview next year leaving out of Barcelona. We will book MSC cruises in the future. The cuisine is great. The additional dining options are superb but having meals in the regular dining room were also fantastic. The buffet is also varied and you have a lot of choices which is great for children. The pizza is very traditional Italian and pizzeria quality. The coffee bar with specialty coffees are as good as any chain, (move over Starbucks). We had a drink package which included sodas and wine at dinner which was perfect for our needs as we do not drink that much. The 2 of us each had a couple of cocktails a day which we paid above the drink package and for us that was less and didn't make us wish we had a better drink package. Read Less

Recently (4-6-2019) traveled on MSC cruise to the western Caribbean on board the Seaside. The ship was fabulous and most of the crew was great. Unfortunately the excursion at Jamaica (OCH42) fell well below MSC standards. This was a snorkel / beach trip. The loading of the boat took approximately ½ hour, then the snorkel stop was only 20 minutes. The beach stop was at an abandoned or shut down motel. The beach and water was very dirty and trashy. Local drug dealers trying sell their goods. The crew of the boat dropped everybody off at the trashy beach and then pulled the boat into harbor and anchored, The crew then took about 2 hour nap. The loading of guest after their nap was very dangerous. They used a ramp/steps from the front of their boat lowered into the water while it was lisping up down due to waves. Should have used the dock at the trashy resort. I know these excursions are private contractors, but MSC should oversee or evaluate these contractors. All-inclusive drinks is a laugh at MSC. They serve non-alcoholic beer and only serve 35 proof liquor in there mixed drinks. Under staffed bars and long lines to get served. WIFI does not work in cabins and is sketchy in common areas. House band played elevator music (Neil Diamond, John Denver), The band was very talented but MSC selected music they could play. Other musicians and singers should have walked the plank ! The Michael Jackson tribute show was outstanding ! Read Less

My husband talked me into a cruise after 20 years for our Anniversary. I was nervous going into the adventure but soon wished we hadn't waited so long. The MSC Seaside provided an amazing cruise experience and exceeded our expectations. To begin with, embarkation was ridiculously easy and speedy. We were moved from area to area quickly and with no problems and were enjoying a welcome drink before we could believe it. Once on the ship we were pleased to find our balcony cabin was spacious, comfortable and clean. The room staff did a wonderful job of keeping everything tidy and replenished without ever being intrusive or in the way. The ship was beautiful and easy to navigate. We did some exploring the first day and had our bearings by the second day. We found there was something to please everyone. We enjoyed the shopping, pools/watersides, zip line, thermal spa, movies at night, dancing, people watching and so much more. We loved that there were so many wonderfully staffed bars and lounges. You were never more than a few steps from a refreshing beverage. Only on rare occasions did we have to wait more than a few minutes for service. Much of the time we were served as soon as we approached. We were also overwhelmed by the amount of wonderful outdoor seating in various areas of the ship. We were always able to find a nice quiet spot to get away and just relax. The buffets kept us full and satisfied all hours of the day and night. From numerous American and international food choices to the decadent desserts and treats, we never lacked in options and never went hungry. It was great to have so many new foods to try and so comforting to see traditional buffet favorites when I wasn't feeling as adventurous. We also enjoyed the food and servers in the Ipanema dining room. From traditional steak or seafood to international dishes such as duck or paella , the food was always well prepared and served by very kind waitstaff. We were very impressed by the entertainment and enjoyed the talent of all the performers as well as the musicians we caught at some of the smaller performances. We also enjoyed the theme parties and dances, although we wish we had been informed of them prior to boarding so we could have prepared by bringing outfits to be more immersed in the fun. Regardless of dress, we still had a blast and found every event well planned and led by enthusiastic staff. You could participate as much or as little as you cared and never feel out of place. The few times we had questions or concerns we were assisted immediately. The cruise director even helped us with our internet question instead of sending us to another floor for tech support when we asked him in passing who could help us. We enjoyed each port of call and participated in both ship sponsored excursions as well as privately booking some for ourselves. The ship excursion was especially helpful in Grand Cayman since it was a tender port. We were given priority on the tender boat and didn't risk missing our excursion meet up. Stingray City was a phenomenal excursion and on our "to do" list for the next trip as well. Overall we were impressed with the diversity of the Crew and staff as well as the diversity of the travelers. So many families, couples and single people from so many varied backgrounds. It was wonderful to hear different languages be exposed to so many cultures while never once having a communication barrier. The Crew and staff all spoke English in addition to other various other languages and we were able to communicate with everyone efficiently and without any trouble. We can't wait to go back in 2020 and share the experience with our teenage children. Read Less

My family of 4 (ages 12 and 13) took a Spring Break cruise with a few other families and would definitely recommend the Seaside from MSC. The embarkation was a breeze and despite being told the check in time was 1:30pm, they allowed us in the terminal right when the doors opened at 10:30am. We checked in immediately, but when we sat down, I didn’t know we needed a Boarding Card. Luckily I made friends with someone who had a “4” card and he got an upgrade to a “1” card and gave me his “4” card. It only took about 10 minutes to be called to board the ship. As all the reviews have stated, the ship is absolutely beautiful. The Atrium was gorgeous and turned out to be a popular hangout for many of us. I am very glad we checked the best cruise hacks to be prepared with thebitems to bring aboard like the magnets, towel clips, over the door shoe rack, magnet night light, and shower curtain. The room was great for a family of 4 as the couch turned into a bunk bed. ***A word of caution. The top bunk has a metal piece that covers the light and could easily cause a nasty cut if you say up in the middle of the night and hit your head*** The food: we had the early seating (5:15pm) and it was a bit early, especially with some excursions, but the staff was great, the food was good (not a WOW, but good.). We did the 3 specialty restaurants (Ocean Cay for lunch and Asian Fusion and Butcher’s Cut for 2 dinners). They were very good, but thought it was weird we couldn’t get a glass of wine, but could only get a bottle and had to pay regardless of having the premium package. I would get this again as the main dining room’s food, as I said, was just “good” and have a little differentiation. The lunch was very repetitive and is my only negative comment for the entire cruise. Breakfast was good as they always had fresh fruits, veggies and pastries. We ate at the sit down (Seaside restaurant) restaurant a few times as they had “fresher” foods and different items than at the buffets. Onboard Activities: we hung out on deck 16 as much as we could, our son hung out at the sports bar and the arcade and our daughter explored all aspects of the ship without reservations. The slides were awesome, the zip line was fun (not worth doing more than 2x though) and the shows were fun. Definitely do the comedy shows (Beer Improv and the kids version) as they were awesome. The casino was fun, but very smoky, so if you are allergic to smoke or it bothers you in the slightest, it will definitely be a problem for you. There was always enough to do on the ship, but I wish there was better communication prior to boarding regarding when the formal night was going to be, when the white Party was, and what other specialty events (20’s party etc.) Ports of call: St Maarten and St Thomas were awesome. The excursions we took (Magen’s Bay swim and tour of the island) and (Golden eagle Catamaran) were tremendous. The catamaran trip was our second best excursion of all time, second only to a wall dive in Hawaii for our honeymoon. We docked into Puerto Rico at 5pm so only had an opportunity to have dinner and explore the night life a bit. You couldn’t see the Fort if you wanted to so don’t be too disappointed, but luckily we’ve already seen it so it wasn’t a big deal for us. For Nassau, we took a Jitney (line 10) to Cable Beach for $1.25 per person each way and spent the day at the beach for $200 less than we would have paid on an excursion. The beers and hot dogs were also half the price. Read Less

We got a good deal from Australia and have been on about 3 cruises previously. This ship was too big for our tastes with over 5000 people. We also felt the communal areas where too all over the place with no real centre. The bars were under staffed and the cabin wasn’t serviced well enough. We loved all 4 ports and 4 on a 7 day cruise is good. The ports were all accessible and vibrant. The dining experience was average to good but certainly not up to our previous experience with Royal Caribbean. The entertainment was good, the shows were very professional. He embarkation was the best we’ve ever experienced, 10/10 for a smooth and speedy process! The gratuities are annoying but not compulsory, we got a drinks package just to avoid all that for every bar visit! We got our moneys worth at $35 per head per day for a basic package which covered our needs. Read Less

This was our 9th cruise and we chose Seaside because of its design. We wanted as much outdoor space as possible. Tired of the old "Food Court" atrium designs. The outdoor seating for food and drink was beautiful. There was so much outdoor space the ship holds true to its motto, "Follows the Sun"! At times, we had difficulty finding shade, but no big deal. We upgraded to a larger cabin 14003 way up front on deck 14. Space was nice, balcony was disappointing. It was a full size balcony but only half available to look out due to the steel support wall for the corner of the ship. We were directly under the bridge so it was nice not having sunlight glaring in our eyes or camera lens for photos. My wife loved the complete privacy of it so I guess it has its pluses and minuses. The Mirror and chrome design was stunning. Absolutely gorgeous, especially the crystal stairs. People couldn't take enough pictures of them. However, due to all the mirrors, there is a place on deck 6 were we almost walk into them several times. The signage is very limited. When elevator doors open, its hard to see what deck you on on. We found out, after a couple of days, that the deck number is on the left post of each elevator door frame. But, because of the chrome, its hard to see. There are large deck numbers on the wall opposite elevators, but not always visible when doors open, and again in bright chrome. Yes, there is always the digital read out and voice in the elevator! The App is the true shinning star on this ship. Very well done. You have access to daily activities, you own personal list of things you checked and, easy show reservation as well as checking you account balance any time. Food was very good, especially in MDR. Appetizers and soups were hit or miss but main course was awesome every night. Contrary to what we have read, the buffet had many changes daily, pre-made sandwiches were different everyday and the carving station in the back was awesome. They were carving roast beef, lamb, pork, turkey, ham, etc.Yes, they had pizza and burgers everyday but what buffet doesn't? Broadway style shows were unbelievable, the best we have ever seen. Outsourcing to a theater company is definitive the way to go. The ships activities crew was top notch, they were everywhere and easily accessible. A really great bunch of kids. Service is probably the only place this ship falls flat. After being in the US for 15 months, you would think the service crew would have the understanding of "Where is the soda machine, toilet, towel exchange or can you make me this drink??" Boy, they do have a lot of teaching to do, not just because of the language barrier, which we were stunned as to how you do not understand simple words such as Coke or Ginger Ale or Sprite, but overall how many of the staff did not know where things were. Training, training, training is what is seriously lacking in this area. Our MDR waiter was difficult to communicate with the first few days, but by the end of the week, they knew exactly what we were looking for, this should have been the case by day 2. I had a bartender give me Scotch because he could not find the Seagram's 7, and he thought I would not notice. I have been drinking 7&7s ever since Tony got me started on "Saturday Nigh Fever". We did notified the Bar Manager and he assured me they would look into it. (not the movie, the problem). Management was always willing to listen and correct the situation, if possible. We wound up receiving Champagne and Chocolate covered strawberries (which we gave both to our neighbors) for one problem, and a tray of pastries for the bar debacle (also gave to the neighbors). Stop trying to put out fires guys and train your staff! We did manage to find an awesome bartender, Julius, at the Miami beach bar. He made the best Mudslides with ice cream, yes, they have a Gellato bar right in the middle of the pool bar. We also found Ron down on deck 5 at the Seaside bar. This is their flagship bar in the atrium. This is the place to go see and be seen. Ron was such a talented mixologist and always smiling. He was so willing to please and always went above and beyond. His section of the bar always had a crowd, I'm surprised the ship did not tilt in that direction. My wife was not feeling well and he made her the most fantastic hot chocolate ever! She kept going back for more. The Thermal Spa was, how does Scar in "Lion King" put it..."To Die For"! I'm sorry we did not opt for the weekly pass, instead we purchased a day pass with massages. This place is awesome, Jun the manager was the best. Jamaica was sad, Grand Cayman was beautiful and Cozumel, well, it's Cozumel. We spent the day in the spa while in port at Nassau. Would we sail MSC again? Probably, but not in the near future. I would prefer an Eastern Itinerary and lets see how well Management does their training. Read Less

We had high hopes for this cruise, but as soon as we embarked, we felt like we were going to have concerns. Embarkation was generally easy, we got onto the ship and registered our cruise card on the self kiosks, which was hassle free. We went to our room, which an announcement was made they were ready, and after 5 minutes, we were kicked out by the cleaning staff, saying they were not done. That was a hassle. After finally getting into our room, we settled in. The cabin and ship overall was very clean, no complaints there, but the cabin design seems very inefficient, even for cruise lines. We sailed on Carnival, Royal Caribean, and Princess, and MSC was definitely the most cramped. We were not comfotable at all during the cruise in that respect. The dining experience on the ship was very bland, nothing was bad, but nothing was good. The two buffets were always crowded and difficult to find seating. They offered plenty of choices but nothing that was great. We did eat at the dining room each night and the service was okay for a cruise, not great but not bad. Not up to of our expectations. Food was very bland, but nothing bad, just average. Portions were also very small, which was fine for us but for someone expecting a large dinner, don't expect that much. The entertainment was okay, it seems like it was the exact same show every night with a different theme. Shows were 30 minutes and were generally entertaining. The theater is small, and you must reserve your seats ahead of time. We actually got kicked out of a show because we had the wrong time! Never seen anything like that before. What really made this cruise awful was the ports of call and the excursions. You are only in a few of these ports for 5 hours or less! After taking the shipboard excursions, we literally has to run back to the ship twice to make the all aboard. We did not get to see any shopping or dining in St. Maarten or Bahamas. The quality and organization of the excursions are the worst I have ever seen on a cruise. Most of the time for the excursion was travel. DO NOT TAKE THE Jeep Excursion on St. Maarten. I don't want to vent, but it ruined our trip. MSC's organization of getting people off the ship was also subpar. Everything else about our trip was subpar, the photo package was a nightmare, trying to sift through literally 10,000 photos to find yours was a joke. The internet package also eats your data very quickly, even when not using it, and everything they do on MSC is an upsell. I know they want you to upgrade, but MSC made it clear you cannot enjoy ar go into part of the ship unles you upgrade to a higher package. And finally, the service was not very good. The crew spoke very little English and did not seem to want to help. Something I also have never seen on a cruise. Overall, my interpretation would be, MSC is like a JV sports team, they are good enough to make the team, but not good enough to play on the Varsity squad. Definitely, felt like a tier 2 cruise line. To begin, the embarkation process was the best we have experienced. I have sailed on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Carnival, Princess and Norwegian and this process was so easy. Nice comfortable seated waiting in air conditioning. The ship is absolutely beautiful. Very colorful and with tons of outdoor space and views of the ocean. We had great service from our cabin steward, the bartenders, the restaurant staff and everyone aboard. The cabin are average size, however, the shower has an actual door which keeps the bathroom much drier. The dinning room food was good. Nothing spectacular but there are plenty of options to chose from. We didn't do the specialty restaurants so I can't speak to those. They are expensive unless you book them ahead. We upgraded our drink package and found that to have everything we wanted. The buffet food in the Marketplace was above and beyond the quality of most ships. There is so much to choose from, fresh salads, fruits, excellent pizza, burgers and hot dogs, carved meats, cheeses and the best bread! Did I say I loved the bread?! We only had one problem, we were charged 39.00 from the photoshop that turned up on our bill on Wednesday. When we checked at the front desk, they told us it was for embarkation photos. We didn't receive or purchase any photos. We were told that gets added to everyone's bill. They removed the charge. There was a huge line at the desk so I assume that is what everyone was there for. The staff on ship are delightful and spoke very good English. The other passengers were mostly from Europe which have a bit different culture, but we didn't mind and enjoyed the different experiences. The debarkation process was smooth as silk. We were off the ship, had our luggage and in a taxi within 10 minutes! No long lines, no waiting and the luggage was clearly marked and easy to locate. Overall, I rate this cruise Very Good and the ship being Excellent. I would not hesitate to cruise with MSC again! If you are looking for a unique ship, unique experience and smooth processes, I highly recommend it. We chose the Fantastica experience. For most travelers, I believe that would be a great fit! Thank you MSC for a wonderful cruise! Read Less

I am in Nassau on the last cruise day, have sailed Celebrity Constellation, Norwegian Pride of America and Star, Carnival Pride and Ecstacy before this ship. I would compare it to somewhere between Norwegian and Celebrity for ship cleanliness and layout. Staff is exactly the same as any other cruise ship, kind servants. Every human can have a bad day, especially those who live in small bunk quarters serving unappreciative people. I go out of my way to thank them for serving away from their families to give me an opportunity to have a vacation. An international crowd in this line, and I love it. I came across zero rude people, understand they are comfortable in a crowd, and acted accordingly. They do not think that is rude. It's how they live in crowded Europe, Asia, Central and South America. Loved the international flavor. English is still there language of choice on the ship so no worries. Dining room food is average good, better than Carnival, as good as Norwegian, not as high quality as Celebrity. Specialty restaurants are not worth the extra, except the seafood choice. Excellent. They were better than the dining room, but choices are surprisingly limited with even more upcharges at specialties. There were very few times it felt like another 5,000 visitors and 1500 crew were on the ship because the ship is laid out well. Bar service is the same as any other ship. Buffets are the best I have had. Choice, quality, variety and location(s). The shows are the BEST AT SEA. A cast of 20+, incredible vocalists (all, not just 1 or 2), aerielists, acrobats, dancers. INCREDIBLE. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. True off Broadway and at times Broadway quality. 4 standing ovations, unheard of for a cruiseline. We were Fantastica Class, would consider Aurea, but Yacht Club is too stuffy for me. I would rate Celebrity 5*, MSC 4 1/2*, Norwegian 4*, and Carnival 3 3/4*. Will sail MSC again, and Seaside again. First the ship is beautiful. The cruise critic event was amazing might have been our best ever. During that event we were shown a presentation. That the msc seaside was designed especially for miami and that is was family owned and they wanted to treat you like family. We also matched from royal caribbean from diamond plus to gold. Which added not much value a drink package that was supposedly free however there was a surcharge on every drink. There was enough people from 6 different countries that each announcement had to be made in 6 different countries. The only time i have had that happen is in the mediterranean. So you felt like you were in europe. Dining staff took you order and brought no conversation. First night it took 45 minutes to get appetizers. We were giving the wrong food from someone several times. The dining room itself is a european open style which amplify the noise level so much so that you can hardly hear across the table.we wanted wine from our drink package however on the third night; we were told they had ran out and if we wanted wine it was an additional charge. But they had the wine in the specialty dining. We bought the specialty dining package which we told there was a savings. There was no savings at all. Plus if you wanted regular coffee with your dinner it was an additional cost. The bar service you had to request the bartender to come over to take your order. There was no bar service asking how can i help. We tried almost every bar on the ship and it was the same. Plus one bar had no coke zero or spirit zero and we were told there was none on the ship, yet you could walk to the next bar and they had. This include beers, wines and alcohols. We meet some several people that had wonderful time after the cruise. But they all had several things alike, yacht club, black card and max drink package. Msc has a special area and dining for yacht club and black card members. We asked and none of these people ate in the in dining room. Plus we only meet 2 other couples that spoke english on the whole cruise. Out of the 52 cruises i have been on this one ranked 51st.if you like to walk there is no walking track and the gym is tiny. Lines for the tread mills were long. Msc allows and it seems they encourage marking of lounge chairs by the pools. People were out at 5am marking chairs. We were looking for the walking track. I would not recommend msc seaside unless you can afford a suite for the yacht club and max drink package.last if you are disabled, we saw several that the doors are not wide enough to get there wheel chairs in.
