First MSC cruise but not the last

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Opera

We chose this cruise as it sailed from Havana and we disembarked in our home province of Alicante so we got to see Havana and the Caribbean with no jet lag! The cabin (inside fantastica) was spacious and airy due to the clever use of mirrors. Plenty of wardrobe space and room to move around. The entertainment team were great. Not to everyone’s taste I get that but the ship was big enough to ...

This was my second cruise on Opera. I last travelled on her to the Black Sea thee years ago. On my last cruise I would have rated the ship four or five but this voyage had some major problems. Firstly the good points: The ship has medium sized, modern and comfortable cabins. These cabins are well maintained and the cabin stewards are first rate. The ship has a good layout and all the ...

My wife and I have been on a number of cruises, but this was to be a first with MSC. Boarding on the 28th April in Cape Town was a shambles - no porters to assist the elderly with heavy bags, no trolleys, 3 hours of queuing, and when finally aboard, told that cabins not ready. We had an Ocean View (no.3086, just below the balcony cabin deck), which was considerably smaller than on any other ...

Smooth sailing from Cape Town to Genoa on the lovely Opera

Previous reviewers made me wonder if we'd made a mistake booking this cruise again (we'd enjoyed it so much 2 years ago on the Melody) but we need not have worried. Also having paid a very low price we expected that there may have been lots of cuts to the quality of the food, service and entertainment. Not so. The food in the restaurant was perfectly acceptable, at times really excellent, and ...

BUENOS AIRES TO SOUTHAMPTON

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Opera

Embarkation was total chaos - it took an age to be called from the reception hall to check-in, then the check-in seemed very long winded. The cruise began with a four hour delay in sailing from Buenos Aires due to problems with the ship's engine(s) which meant we "missed our slot" on the River Plate. The following day brought another delay as unfortunately a passenger was taken ill and had to ...

We were the last to arrive on the ship as our flight which was inclusive did not get into Verona until late. Checking in was chaotic. The cabin we were given was very clean and a nice size. We found the food lacking in imagination and were given very small portions. If we wanted water we had to pay for it. Tea and coffee was not offered. Only time we could get these was during the day at the ...

MSC Opera - Trans-Atlantic

We had booked this cruise in total with 6 people including three children of 2, 6 and 14 years old. I would not recommend this cruise. For the children it was a nightmare and very very boring. it started with the first day. We wanted to use the whirlpool with the children because that water was very warm. We were almost pulled out of that water because children below 16 years are not allowed to ...

MSC Opera. Transatlantic Crossing Fort Lauderdale to Genoa 2nd to 19th April, 2005. Although this is our own personal thoughts and opinions based on our experience from time to time there may be comment upon opinions and thoughts of some of the people with whom we spent time during our 17 wonderful days. This was not our first cruise with MSC and what really concerned us was that changes may ...
