The cruise was a joint holiday for 4 couples who have been friends for many years. We all travelled to Venice separately, with all 4 couples doing other European tours before and after our cruise. ur cruise on the MSC Musica left Venice Saturday 14th Sept. We visited Brindici, Olympia Mykinos, Athens, Albania and Dubrovnik. The MSC shore excusions we did in each of our ports were fantastic for both content and value for money and content. The on-board facilities were excellent with exemplary service from all the MSC staff in the bars, restaurants and bistros, all over the ship.. Special mention to our cabin steward, Irene who looked after us for the week, she was a blessing....Always smiling and asking if we needed anything....A real treasure. Our waiter staff, Jetson, Roy and our dining supervisor, Carlos, in the main dining room also deserve a special mention. Very attentive to our group, always smiling. Great service We loved our daily tours but I think the highlight of our cruise was the nightly entertainment in the main auditorium. From the warm up / comedy teams that started to the show to our main acts that sang and danced and juggles and tumbled across the stage., the nightly shows were excellent. We sampled just about all MSC Musica had to offer including a Private Cocktail function for Minor Nationalities . A fantastic week on-board and one we hope to repeat in the not to distant future Read Less

One reason I choose to Cruise was to have fun and try out new experiences, how is it like to be in a titanic a 5 star moving hotel. The first time you enter the ship the ship smells 5 star and looks 5 star all the way, the decorations inside are amazing you even forget That you are inside a ship. The embarkation que is horrible, you can't wait for a while before entering the ship, and didn't like the fact that they only open few service desk during embarkation. The stuff members are super great and friendly especially the man responsible for our deck 8, even when most of them didn't know how to communicate in English but they tried. MSC is one hygienic cruise hotel I ever seen, every corner you turn there is sanitation thats what I loved. The food is super Healthy and they don't compromise on taste, everything I ate I could taste that it's quality food. The dinning areas I loved them because you get the opportunity to dress up and be fine and finned, only problem is you have to buy soft drinks all the time, I don't mind them selling alcohols wish they could have gave us maybe complimentary soft drink for every fine dinning meal or 5 drinks per Cruz then the rest you purchase. I loved Eric the voice from above the program director all his shows were fun and entertaining. The parties organized by stuff were super great problem they only last for an hour. Deck 13 buffet area was home to most cruises and would like to give blow to the stuff there at deck 13 because they are forever working, especially the pizza guy 24 hours pizza. Our cabin was in front so every wave the ship cut through we felt it, and you couldnt stand straight which resulted in sea sickness, so would advice you to book balcony center cabin. The excursions on the island were expensive hence did not do them. I hated the fact that we did not go to Pomene Island and they could not take us to a different island like Maputo instead of Portuguese Island which had nothing to see the second day and the waters were unclean to swim at them. Pomene has been giving them a problem why don't they start looking for an alternative to island or take it out on your markets because when I booked I saw two island and wanted to visit two not one island. The disembarking program failed them a bit, stuff was not properly assigned to guide people were they should go,whuch made things to go slower. The photo package is expensive and it would be nice if the price could go down or be included as our take home package because we got nothing as complementary everything you have to buy. Despite all the negatives would still go and advice people to go is an experience you don't want to miss. Read Less

Our cruise date was looming and we were going ready with trepidation, due to our last cruise with MSC being spoilt by both the illness of my wife and the rather bad service from the crew. Our cruise date came round the taxi collected us and down to the harbour we went, MSC ground staff took our luggage straight from the taxi and whisked us to the wheelchair assist station and what a difference we were on board and seated by the pool within twenty minutes, compared with the one and half hours on our last trip. Holiday started no problems for the duration of the cruise apart from trying to get a room-service menu for breakfast, we asked at least four times on the first day (Monday) and it arrived late on Tuesday evening ready for breakfast on Wednesday that said and off my chest we had a really fantastic time from start to finish. Talking of food every meal we had was of the highest standard and a varied menu to cater for all tastes. Disembarkment went as smooth as embarkation and we had to wait for our taxi to arrive which we booked late due to the epic four hour adventure of our earlier cruise where they had to reopen customs and immigration to get us back on sovereign soil. Bottom line we have booked our next years cruise and are looking forward to being on board again. Read Less

So this was my very first cruise. We were booked in a balcony cabin. The whole experience was out of this world, from being welcome by the oh-so-friendly crew member at the entrance, to walking up gold trimmed staircases, to walking past very elegant dim-lit lounges with elegant seats, to the buffet at Deck 13 where food is served from the morning until midnight. Here you have dining options, you can either opt to eat at the classy restaurant where you are treated to a 3 course meal by the very friendly, professional waiters, or visit Deck 13 for a buffet style treat. They kept us well entertained throughout the duration of the cruise, we had karaoke evening, themed party, teambuildings, bingo, quizz, etc. You get to party all night long if the night club is your scene. Their choice of songs caters for different tastes, and the songs are current which i found very interesting. Not forgetting one of my personal highlights, the trip to Portuguese Island. Where you get to lounge in white seats while enjoying freshly made fish and other grills or snacking on some fruits while sipping on cocktails. I got a bit jealous when I saw some people who had brought their children with, there's loads of entertainment for kids. I'll sure bring my own kids on my next cruise. It was 5 star treatment all weekend, i would recommend it to anyone. I absolutely loved it. Thanks you MSC. Shout out to my waiters, Partana and Faizal at the L Oleandro restaurant. Read Less

I will not suggest to my worst enemy to go on the MSC MUSICA AGAIN the cruise was over booked since we got on the ship we did not have anyplace to sit , never mind the package that i took they said there will be a welcoming letter from the Captain - just a note from management i wanted to take all my grand children next year but i will rather stay at home some of the people on the cruise stayed in there cabin due to the overcrowding if you wanted to get a drink at the bar it took you half to and hour, i can be glad that idid not take any children, the super sokkie we paid was a waste of money we could notsee any of the artist and i had to sit on a lamp pole, we could not even see the activities on the cruise we had to stand 95% of our time the only time we could sit was at dinner or lunch This cruise was for my husband birthday and he hated every minute of it the photos costed a lot of many sure all the photos they destroy could have been givenat a special price on the last day of the cruice Read Less

MSC Musica was highly recommended, but did not meet the standard. Cabin was dirty, food mediocre and the stuff not really friendly. The only thing that was good was the theater. The shows where brilliant. Otherwise overall it was a waste of money. I am bitter. I paid R12 600.00 but what I got was not worth that at all. I tried to upgrade but the room but the receptionist said that was not possible. I complained about the dirt but nothing was done. I had a balcony cabin but the balcony was dirty for the duration of my our stay. The last guest was a smoker and left a glass with cigarette stubs by the balcony and that glass was there for the duration of the stay. I got tickets for my brother and his wife as a wedding gift and they had a love time, so I was expecting the same only to get the horrendous sevice I got. I am vegan and there was no food. I tried to customize the vegetarian food but there was very limited options. This was a terrible cruise. I will never recommend it to my friends and family. The service is just not consistent. My brother got a great service and I got a bad service for more or less the same price. I am very disappointed and I feel cheated. Read Less

Sailed with 15 ladies. My first experience, definitely not my last. I enjoyed every moment . I had plenty fun and also my quiet moments , whereby I just sat down and watch the chefs and waiters doing their appointed tasks , amazing -making all those dozens' of pizzas, salads , food , everything so detailed and seeing them doing it with such joy , made me appreciate life, food and my own job. Restaurants are amazing , food is of excellent good quality . I find the food (including , veggies , fruit and salads )to be very healthy, and tasty. the children clubs were also amazing, ( my grandson will definitely join me on the next cruise!)The youth entertainment was amazing, fun, energetic, I just had a ball joining in. The cruise rekindled that youthful, energetic, grateful feeling in myself . I also enjoyed the island visits, On the island-POMENE- my heart went out to the kids begging for food whist we had plenty to eat ( IT WAS A HUGE CHALLENGE ) Thanks to this cruise , I overcame my fear of sailing Much appreciated Will be back soon! This was my 3rd cruise (Sinfonia, Opera and Musica), but each one had its own unique experience. It was a last minute decision which was worth it as we had a great and enjoyable time on board together with family and friends. The embarking and disembarking was much better organised than the previous times. Crafts and demos was exciting and the shows were spectacular. had a relaxing time in the sauna, steam room and indoor Jacuzzis. Balcony room was spacious with a lounge area although not much time was spent in the cabin. Meals were good, but unfortunately lots of wastage by the patrons. The 24 hr pizza service, pizzas were not filled well hence wastage of 1/4 of the each slice ! 24 hr teas and coffees, unfortunately water was warm throughout except at breakfast. The trips to and from Pomene Island went very smooth but due to the immense heat, not much time was spent on the Island. Had a great time at the casino and bingo game. Looking forward to the cruise again early next year. Read Less

This was our 3rd time with msc and have never been impressed with them, but chose this cruise for the itinerary It is a very nice ship but the organisation is abismal, lack of communication, public areas not very clean, toilets often dirty and no toilet paper.Poor choice of food, small portions and overall not very good. If you are using the public toilets make sure you there is toilet paper in there! ! The cabin was small but OK, the cabin steward was excellent, nothing was too much trouble, he was very polite. He kept the cabin spotlessly clean. Embarkation was chaotic and that is putting it mildly.Queues in the reception .We area were always long and slow moving. We were very lucky to have an excellent waiter in the the restaurant but not everyone was so lucky. There is an obvious lack of training in the staff. If all staff were adequately trained it would make a big difference. Definitely will not go by Msc again. Read Less

Very friendly and always obliging. My son enjoyed the excursion as his goal is to work on a cruise liner someday. We absolutely loved the island, a day well spent!! Not forgetting the boat ride to the island! It was amazing with the cool breeze and water splashing on us, enjoyed it so much! The people on the island were so friendly, the markets sold beautiful souveniers and clothing. I will definitely cruise again, it's on my bucket list for 2019!!! I left Durban port on the 19th December 2018 and the staff were excellent on embarking the ship. The embarkation and disembarkation was a breeze with MSC staff and crew assisting you all the way. I had a wonderful experience as it was my first trip and cannot wait to cruise with MSC again. The dining was terrific with a variety of different things to choose from , the dining staff were great and on "ball" for everything. I really enjoyed my shore excursion to the Portuguese Island as it was my first time on a boat. MSC is a must for everybody. The ships interior was one of a kind with amazing lighting and entertainment. The theatre was beautiful and I really enjoyed the shows. The entertainment staff really made my trip enjoyable with the games where everybody partook. The rooms service was excellent with just a phone call away I could get food delivered straight to my door. My room was outstanding even better than when I saw pictures of it on the internet. Every time I stepped out and back to my room was I was spotless. Now that's an amazing trip. Read Less

Trying to find the perfect gift is always daunting, luckily i decided to gift my husband a cruise with the Msc Musica, Upon Arrival at the harbour, There was a que to get into check in and to leave your luggage, each step was even more exciting as its just one step closer to boarding, When we reached check in and all was in order my two kids, husband and i literally ran to the boarding area, We stopped quickly at the refreshments area to grab a drink and off we were ( this was so though full after waiting in the ques, a thirst quench was just what we needed) The music and the friendly staff outside just set the mood, Finally we arrived inside the ship, our passports was taken and immediately we were sent upstairs to get a wrisk band for my 7 year old, so basically this as to be worn by the child throughout the cruise, as it makes it easy to locate which cabin the child is,incase they get lost. As we explored we bought our drinks package and went on the 13th deck for our buffet lunch, this was my favourite spot throughout the cruise haha hence the weight gain, everything was perfectly set up, different types of food, bread rolls, salads, dessert, tea coffee and water is always served. We sat at a table and indulged in our scrumptious lunch btw the buffet is open 20 hours, breakfast lunch and supper, And the pizzas is thee best tasting pizzas ever, Everything is always in order as soon as u done eating theres always someone to clear up ur table. Making it easier for the next person to come in, After eating we went to our cabin to change up and went on deck to do the drill, Finally we set sail, the experience of just leaving was absolutely amazing. Everyone was filled with excitement. We had abit of a confusion with our cabin and illena from reception was the absolutely best, so friendly and she even sent up a bottle of champagne and some yummy snacks for my husband on his birthday. Theres so much to do on the ship but we mainly hung out on the deck as the kids wanted to be in the pool, there is a kiddies and teens club aswell, my 7 year old loved it and still talks about his teachers, they provide activities the entire day for the kids and believe me its so safe. They even take the kids for dinner and it's so exciting for the kiddies, Again the level of quality and security is absolutely amazing these ladies and gents are so patient and caring with the kids, Everything is always in a order, at 8pm every night we were allocated a restaurant which we could dine in, the food is absolutely amazing and our waiter was so friendly and welcoming, the manager if this restaurant was extremely rude and to be honest he was the only bad experience throughout our cruise, The shopping is a must, my husband bought me the most beautiful jewellery and the 4.5 liter drinks is absolutely well worth it, Island day: Day of island was amazing such beautiful experience, u have to get a ticket on board which will tell u what boat number u are, u go to the 4th floor and a boat awaits u, nothing to be scared about again everything is always in order and safe, when we arrived at the island the blue waters and music and views was just breathtaking. There's alot of locals selling stuff so carry some cash, it was extremely hot so we went straight to the buffet, freshly caught grilled fish and the delicious water melons and mangoes was my favourite, A dj and also a live band makes u feel so blessed just to experience this.We spent the day in the water and then finally decided to leave early as we didn't want to wait long with the kids, The boats started loading up and we finally entered the ship again, As we entered there was a gentleman handing us an ice face clothe again very well thought of as coming out from the heat, this ice cloth was a bit of heaven for us, Back to sail and after refreshing up we went on board for some activities. What amazed me was everything was always in order, the staff are all very hard working, A few are abit rude but majority are so welcoming, oh please be careful when buying drinks on the deck, if u not using ur drinks package, we paid 45 dollars for two jack Daniels and two cans of coke, yet at the bar across is was 5 dollars. So always ask the price before you purchase. The theater the night before we left was absolutely amazing we got to see the captain break some moves, so friendly so creative and overall it was definitely the best experience ooooh i forgot to mention i felt sea sick for two nights so make sure u take something and they also provide some tabs at the reception area. Would i recommended this cruise? I will be off my head not too, A lifetime experience, My Kids are still talking about it and my husband says he doesn't no how to top this for my birthday hahahah. Overall I'll be back again Read Less

I had read a lot on line about cruises so wasn't sure what we'd let ourselves in for. But we had an amazing time form start to finish. We did go for the Ausea package which gave us priority boarding, all inclusive drinks package, upper deck sun lounge, and more. The only thing we did find was that the MSC excussions were very exspenvise for what you got. There were plenty of good companies at each of the ports offering bus tours or hop 0n - hop off buses. We used these and found them really helpful and enjoyable. The evening entertainment was great family enjoyment none of this smut you see so much of these todays. Well done MSC. Everything was spotlessly clean, staff were very polity but there wasn't enough staff on the bars around the pool area and you did have to wait a while to get served. This was our 2nd time on MSC and the first was bad. So why did we go again? The destinations.... Embarkation - This was too many people in too small an area being "assisted" by too few staff. I am disabled, and both myself and my wife (who also has a stick to help walking) were left in a long queue for nearly half an hour before we even got into the cruise terminal. This soured even the start of the cruise, as to then be bombarded by people selling packages was just adding insult to injury. Cabin - was good with a small balcony that directly overlooked the lifeboats, this would have been called an obstructed view on all other lines. Still it was comfortable, apart from the very nasty rust stain under the shower. Dining - The food did occasionally come warm, but only hot after we complained (quite seriously) and then our waiter ensured ours were bought first on the very last day. The choices for my wife being a vegetarian were only single items for most of the meals and for one man course all she had was 2 small pieces of pitta bread and two dollops of sauces with a few bits of salad, this was really a starter! I had a lamb and chicken stew where the lamb was inedible (I had to remove 2 pieces from my mouth as I couldn't eat it) - so I left the rest and when we said something to the waiter (not our usual one) he just laughed and walked off. The wine and water package we had bought was really good and ideal for is (7 water and 4 wine). The wine was excellent. Breakfast and lunch were a scrum and what they pass for bacon has more fat on it than a tub of lard and as for the eggs....! Don't try the cornflakes (they are not) and the rice crispies are reasonable on room service. The best things are the pastries and the fruit (not the fruit juices unless you have a really sweet tooth). Not being terribly mobile meant people pushed passed us to get to everything, tables, food, exits, lifts... Service - apart from our main waiter and one or two others the service was dour at best, with some being just plain rude. On deck 4 they have a smile campaign where each letter spells out how they should be for customer service - well it doesn't work. You get 10 euros added to your bill per person every day as a service charge we had it removed and said we'd state an amount on the last evening. Entertainment and Activities - there were some reasonable singers and musicians dotted in the many bars and some were pretty good, however having walked through the same area with one singer on a couple of occasions, he was singing exactly the same song, so maybe his repertoire was limited. Other entertainment for us (not wanting to baste under the sun) was non-existent, no quizzes, no lectures. just stay by the pools and roast. Port/Shore Excursions - Brindisi/Lecce was no as we'd hoped and the guide was not good. Olympia and the Magna Grecia food was absolutely superb, Santorini was a mixed bag, with the Akrotiri excavations being wonderful and we had a brilliant guide (as he was an archaeologist who had worked there for years), the blue domed houses at the other end of the isle were OK, but to get there was a nightmare as two coaches couldn't pass at certain points thus chaos rained. Also went to the wine co-op where the views were spectacular however we were just a number in a coach. The shuttle bus into Corfu old town took 15 minutes to drop us a mile away from the centre at a cost of 9.90 euro's each (which we were a mile and a half away from at the port). By the time we had walked through the main parts of the old town we were equidistant from the meeting point and the port, so we made our way slowly back. The number 16 bus goes to/from the port and costs a lot less and drops you right by the centre of town. Cleanliness - there were poorly washed knives forks etc. the tablecloths were dirty, on occasion. Disembarkation - we had a flight at 17:15 and were told twice that we could get off the ship, explore Venice and come back for 15:00 to be transferred to the airport. When we tried to get off, there was chaos and there was no way we could, so we retreated back up to deck 13. Tried to get food and drink (supposed to be open until 11:30) but all virtually gone by 10:00 (including toilet roll in the ladies). Went down to see what was happening at 11:00 and were told to get off the ship immediately. So we queued with all the others and arrived at the airport nearly 6 hours before our flight was due. If we had managed to get off and find the place to hold our luggage (which wasn't apparent when getting off) all the coaches would have been long gone by lunchtime. They had just dumped us and really just wanted us out of the way for the next herd. We talked to a representative of MSC - who did listen and our 9.90 euros was taken off (so we did put 70 euros back on as a reasonable service charge). Also we had a bottle of fizz and strawberries in chocolate in our room on the last night - which was very nice. But they told the wrong waiter off, the one we liked (despite us stating he was one of the few good ones) and the only way we god hot/warm food was by being served first - which missed the entire point. Everyone's food should be hot, like on Celebrity or Cunard. The Musica was even worse than the Armonia and was just not suitable for us. Their promotional video say they are the envy of other cruise lines, from our two experiences they are the worst of the 5 lines we have been with, by quite some way. Read Less

I travelled with daughter, son in law and granddaughter and flew from Dublin to Venice. A private transfer from the airport to the ship had been arranged by our travel agent. Embarkation went very smoothly and quickly, helped by the fact I had requested assistance due to mobility problems. We had two adjoining cabins on deck 9 with the Fantastica Package. The cabins were very spacious with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The beds were very comfortable. The shower was very efficient and the shower gel and shampoo, although not the best, were OK. Our cabin steward kept the cabins spotless throughout the cruise and he was always very polite and very cheerful. The ship itself was spotlessly clean and staff would be seen keeping it so. We were assigned 1st sitting for dinner at 7 pm (second sitting was 9.15pm - too late for us). The tables were very close together and at times we felt we were actually sitting with the adjoining tables. Luckily we had some very nice fellow passengers each side of us! Service in the dining room was very slow - one evening it took until 9pm before we had completed our meal. Both the waiter and the wine water were on their first contracts and it was evident they had had insufficient training for taking orders, processing them and in table etiquette. It seems a lot of staff had left the ship in Venice and although new staff had been taken on numbers were considerably down on what they should have been. More staff were taken on in Athens but I cannot say whether they were more fully trained. We were kept waiting for drink orders and had to keep asking to them to be brought to us and food orders were very very slow in coming. My son in law had made a request for Gluten Free - all the paperwork had been completed for this on the Special Request Form but the staff were unaware of this request which led to even more waiting whilst the special menu was found. After complaining to the Maitre'D things did improve and the service was a little better but was not up to the standard I have experienced on my other MSC cruises over the years. Menus were varied and on the whole the food was good but was not always hot. Eating in the Buffet was a nightmare with everyone trying to find seats and with some people just not knowing how to queue. We decided to have breakfast in the dining room which was a much more leisurely option where there was a buffet laid out but one could also choose from a menu for special items like omelettes, poached eggs, smoked salmon etc and the food was cooked to order. When asking for tea/coffee with cold milk we had to ask more than once for the cold milk and when it did arrive it was brought in a teacup or drinking glass - do MSC no longer have milk jugs?? We are pleased we pre-purchased the All Inclusive Drinks Package which certainly proved to be good value for money and we saved by buying this in advance rather than once on board. In many of my previous reviews I have raised the subject of hand sanitizers and MSC UK have always said they would look into this. However, yet again staff were failing to encourage people to use the hand sanitizers on entering the buffet/dining room. Sometimes the sanitizers were empty - not just in the dining room but at the gangways too. Staff should ensure these are full at all times and people should be asked to use them. MSC could learn a lot from NCL who have members of staff at the entrances to dining areas and at the gangways, encouraging passengers to "Washy Washy" - a good way to avoid germs on board There were a lot of different bars and lounges to choose from, each having their own form of entertainment and it was sometimes difficult to decide where to go each evening. We particularly like the Wine Bar where Albert and Leticia looked after us so well - they excelled in Customer Service. Albert left the ship at Athens as his contract had ended - just hope MSC will give him another post as he would be an asset to any of their ships. The evening dance venues were good and the staff interacted with the passengers so well. The dancers and singers produced excellent shows and the animation team worked very hard all around the ship and always had something organised each day. We did not go to play in the Casino but walked through it - it was very smoky, one place on the ship where smoking is permitted. We noticed several families in there with young children/teens so it was obvious the staff were certainly not imposing the NO UNDER 18's rule! Son in law used the gym for their morning stretching exercises and was happy with the facilities there. I had a very nice pedicure at the Spa but it was quite expensive. The pool areas were kept very clean and there were plenty of sunbeds. However, the pool water was too cold for us at just 17C. PORTS OF CALL Brindisi - We wandered around here and found some interesting places. There is a little train which for Euros 20 takes you around the main places of interest or there is a walking tour at Euros 15. We came across a lovely place for lunch (Betty Café) where we had the most mouthwatering pizzas and we could not resist taking some of the delicious cakes back to the ship. Katakolon - We took the ships tour Olympia and Shopping. Our guide was excellent and we very much enjoyed seeing the ancient sites and learning the history of the Olympic Games. We had free time later for shopping and I bought an owl charm for my Pandora bracelet - the owl is the symbol of wisdom and knowledge in Greece apparently. Santorini - We took the Oia and Shopping tour. The tender boat took us to the far side of the island where we boarded a coach which took us along a mountainous road to Fira. The views en route were spectacular. We had free time to wander the narrow streets in FIra and the views were stunning. Everywhere was so clean and picturesque. Daughter and I took the cable car back to the quayside but son in law and granddaughter took the steps down. Piraeus (for Athens) - I visited Athens many years ago when I was more mobile so I stayed on board whilst the others ventured out on their own. They took the Hop On Hop Off bus and toured the city at their own pace. They did not climb the Acropolis where it was very crowded but enjoyed the view. Corfu - This was probably the highlight of the cruise. We had organised a private tour of the island with Corfu Taxis. Our driver, Vangelis, met us at the port gates and we knew straight away we were in for a good time. Vangelis is naturally very proud of his homeland, very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. We travelled in a very comfortable car, driving along the west coast, going through quaint tiny villages, through which no MSC tour coach would be able to navigate. The views were stunning and we particularly liked Paleokastritsa. On arrival in Lakones we stopped at George's Cellar and were shown where the owners press their own olive oil and their wine making centre. Vangelis disappeared for a while but came back with baguettes, feta cheese, tomatoes and olives and he prepared a delicious lunch for us which we washed down with samples of the wines. We made some purchases in the shop and then drove on to Corfu Town where we had free time to wander the narrow cobbled streets. The tour lasted 5 hours and was such good value at Euros 180 for the four of us. One failing at this port was that it was quite a long walk from the quay to the port gates (especially for someone like myself with mobility problems) Passengers were not advised that there is a free shuttle bus in operation. It was Vangelis who pointed this out when we returned from the tour with him. Kotor - Sailing into Kotor in the early hours of the morning was breathtaking - very similar to be in the Norwegian Fjords (do get up early so as not to miss this experience). We had very little time in this port but managed to see round the walled city which is full of charm and history. Would have loved longer here. Venice - Disembarkation went very well - we were some of the first off the ship as we had no flight that day. The wheelchair assistance for me was much appreciated. Our private transfer from the port took us to the Hotel Delfino at Venice Mestre. The rooms were large with all mod cons. We purchased the 24hour ticket for the buses and water taxis - Euros 20 each. The A4 bus into the centre of Venice stopped right outside the hotel and we were in the throng of the city within 20mins. We spent a hectic day sightseeing and the atmosphere for Easter Sunday was wonderful even with so many people gathered in St Mark's Square. We took the water taxis from place to place. We returned to the hotel hoping to eat in the restaurant that evening but it was closed for dinners. We were told we could dine in the sister hotel next door but there it was just a set menu for the Easter period - very limited choices for Euros 35 per person. We looked for somewhere else and just a few doors away we found Wilmer's Bar - they even had a Gluten Free menu so son in law was happy. The food was excellent. We had a buffet breakfast in the Delfino which was very good, plenty of choice and the food was hot and nicely presented. Our private transfer picked us up at 8.30a.m and we arrived in good time at the airport for our return flight. I really feel MSC should provide passengers with information on the ports of call - not everyone can participate in the tours if they are unsuitable for those with mobility problems, so they need to find things to do independently and information would help. Others do not like being on organised tours and prefer to do things on their own. Overall we enjoyed the cruise but if I am honest it was not the best MSC cruise I have been on and I have sailed with MSC regularly since 2001. I have a booking on Seaview for July which I hope will prove to be a better experience. Read Less

We chose the cruise for the itinerary and the price. Itinerary was great, and we had many wonderful experiences and memories from the various ports. Especially loved Kator, Montenegro and Corfu. The ship, however, was full to overcrowded, and there were long lines for food at the buffet almost always. The layout of the buffet areas was horrible, and contributed to the long lines for food. Should have served more on deck and in other locations as found on other cruise ships in order to avoid everyone crowding in the same place at the same times. The food itself was marginal, uninteresting, and almost never hot or fresh on the buffet. Food in the dining rooms was also lacking in variety and often served barely warm. Most of the staff were friendly and very accommodating. We had the Aurea experience, which was well worth the upgrade for the drinks, shakes, ice cream, etc. which were all included. Overall, the ship was overcrowded and understaffed, and did not live up to our expectations in terms of the on-board experience. Read Less

MSC MUSICA My wife and I , together with my sister and brother-in- law , booked for the Transatlantic cruise during the month of november 2017. We booked the cruise because Kras travels (the Netherlands) offered a special promotion. We took our transatlantic cruise from Venice to Rio de Janeiro, 21 nights (12 Nov to 5Dec2017) . We actually have no complaints at all. Everything went like clockwork from embarkation to debarkation. a little late leaving Venice but it actually made for a beautiful departure from port. The MSC MUSICA is a beautiful ship with plenty to keep you busy with so many places to walk around and see and things to do. We arrived at the cruise terminal early but everything went smoothly and after waiting in the cue for 30 minutes we were able to board. Our cabin was ready and also our cruise card so we were able to use our lunch. We then went to the buffet for lunch it was very busy but this was not a problem as there were staff at the buffet entrance who took you to a seat. Also there was a button on the table to summon a beverage waiter and they were very efficient. The food was hot and there was a good selection. I loved the majority of my breakfasts and lunches in the Deck 13 Buffet, unfortunately my dinners in the Restaurant were inconsistent and I did have several sub-par dinners. The buffet on the deck 13 The food and beverage manager Mr. BRUNO , organized his team and equipment as a 5 star hotelrestaurant. The equipments and cutlery always cleaned by his team from 8am to 8am, the wole day long. Food at the cruise was lovely, a lot of choice and variety. There were so many food choices on 6 corners including a bread and pastery, an Italian corner, a fruitcorner and a big buffet. They present several times a week , special items and a tapas- and brasilian event. Service was generally good. To enjoy a long cruise, you must prepare how you wish to spend the many sea days (here included 6 transatlantic sea days). While there was a multitude of activities we participated some activities offered by the Cruise Director. The entertainment was OK. Some of the stage shows were good some not, bands in the bars were varied. We were never bored for we met several travellers with the same age and ideas. We took a few very good shore excursions, but we mainly explored on our own, and took taxis and public transportation. We missed 1 of the 5 Brasilian ports due to storms. Once we sailed out of the Mediterranean, into the transatlantic crossing, it was very smooth sailing, and every day was sunny and warm towards Brasil. The cruise was pristine , immaculate, and the upkeep was spot on. The cruise is quieter this time of the year so we cannot make a review for the summer season. There is still a lot to do, because the animation is working during day-times but also every evening is there something to do. The cabins/bedrooms were fabulous we had a double room which was quite big and they were clean and looked very new. Our room was lovely the bed so comfortable and our housekeeping excellent. I chose this cruise because I wanted to see Venice, and visit Greece. There were company reps all guiding us to the pick up coaches, which would take us to the ship. My package was supposed to be an all inclusive deal, but as soon as you get on board you have to leave a two hundred and fifty euro deposit, with your credit card. There seemed to be a language barrier as well. I was shown to my cabin on the top deck, there were bottles of water in my small cabin which stung me for three euro's a bottle. My first nights sleep was disturbed by vibrations from some nearby machinery, and the thin walls where you could hear others down the corridor. There was only one American news channel to watch, and in the morning, I noticed my English clock radio was showing the wrong time, I kept having to reset it due to the voltage difference. There are no deck plans of the ship anywhere apart from by the lifts which just show what's on each deck. It took me about half an hour to find my way back to the reception desk, where I had to wait in a long queue to be seen. I asked the lady for another cabin and explained why, I was told that the ship was full in a very cold and blunt way, two days later more people came on board, where they were informed that they must attend the fire safety drill. My first restaurant meal came with a service charge, and if I hadn't paid for a wine and water package in advance, then a bottle of wine would have cost me be about twenty euro's. We sat at the same table each evening, so you could chat to others. I was stuck in my noisy cabin for three nights, there was a standard letter posted under my door thanking me for raising these issues which were being investigated. I was dozing on my bed trying to work out what the correct time was by switching the tv on, when the bedside telephone rang, with someone from reception, inviting me along to see my new cabin. My second cabin on the eight deck, was an outside cabin with a little balcony, and it came with an arm chair and table and sliding patio doors, it was ten times better and much quieter than the other one, plus there was no water slopping around the shower room floor. Every day there was an information sheet posted under the door with the expected arrival time at the next port of call. I had paid for two excursions one was to visit Athens and the other to visit Corfu. There was nothing much to do on board, apart from fry in the Sun, use the gym, or spend lots of money on cold drinks. The ship was so full of people and there was noise everywhere, even in the lounge areas where they had giant port hole windows where you could watch the scenery, they still had music pumped through the speakers. I did make one visit to the casino to watch friends play a slot machine, and this seemed to be the smokers area, my clothes stank for a couple of days. The excursions seemed to be rushed as well, its not easy taking photo's from a moving coach in a traffic jam. It felt like there was only about half an hour free time in Athens otherwise it was a long journey back to the ship if you missed your coach. There were many who just got off the ship and went sight seeing, I didn't have the courage to do that. The views from my balcony were very good for taking photographs. On the morning of disembarkation my credit card payment invoice was posted under my door, which showed that the restaurant service charge was eight euro's fifty each time, the Athens visit cost 52.90 euro's and the Corfu visit cost 39.90 euro's, so at the end of an all inclusive cruise which had already cost me on thousand five hundred pounds, I had a bill for for an additional two hundred and thirty pounds which included the excursion and wine package. No sooner had we boarded the coaches, we were soon at Venice airport ready for the one and a half hour flight back to the UK. When I got home, I emailed MSC with a complaint about my holiday, where I detailed my experiences on board, where I felt I had been used like a slot machine, hoping that they would refund the money I had paid, they reluctantly offered me a seventy pound credit towards my next MSC cruise. The company were collecting thousands of euro's in service charges which I stated should have come out of the cost of the cruise. I also emailed the travel agent, but got no response. Read Less

We cruised from Bari to Olympia, Piraeus, Santorini, Kotor, Corfu and Venice. The weather was perfect late June and the ship was not overly crowded. We found the service excellent, particularly the restaurant and bar staff who were mostly Balinese. The services were well organised, the food was good quality and varied and the ship was clean and in good condition. The shows during the evening were amazing with dancers, gymnasts and singers of a very high standard. We enjoyed the 7 days and would certainly recommend the cruise. Read Less
