To start on the positive, the ship was spotlessly clean and the waiting and cabin staff were excellent. Unfortunately there are no more positives. We have cruised a number of times and this was our worst experience.
The bad experience started with embarkation. The pickup at the airport was good and we arrived at the ship just after 4pm. This is a cruise who embarks and disembarks at nearly every ...
We arrived at the cruise terminal in Ft Lauderdale right around 12:30 on embarkation day. There was a small line (about 100-150 people) and breezed through the embarkation process in about 15 minutes. We were taken to our room to put down our carry on bags and directed to the buffet lunch upstairs. There was a variety of foods on the buffet, hotdogs, hamburgers and fries on the American bar, pizza ...
As I stated we had gone on a two week tour of Italy in 2008 and had a fantastic time. When I learned of MSC being an Italian style cruise I couldn't sign up fast enough. The ship was impeccable. Our cabin was spacious. The crew was very nice most of the time. One of the problems we had with the Lirica was the food. We have been on many cruises and I would have to say the Lirica had by far the worst ...
I am just going to give an overview of my recent 10 day Caribbean sailing on the MSC Lirica. For those who might be interested in more day to day detail, I wrote a live daily review, and you can view it here: http://www.boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=941026
First to give credit where it is due, the ship is maintained beautifully, and there was no hint that she is six years old, ...
After reading the reviews on CC we were a bit concerned. People either loved or hated it. We ended up loving it. Be warned, however, if you are looking for WOW factor, the latest in everything, gourmet dining and prefer steak and potatoes to anything else, you won't like the MSC Lirica. However, come open-minded and think more European-like experience that is different from the standard N.A. ...
We selected this ship because of its size, and, having lived in Southwest Florida for a number of years, we sought to encounter different cultures and meet people from all over. This ship, with its European ownership and customer base promised that. We had no pre-conceptions or expectations. I have to say that from embarkation to debarkation we were pleased at how these folks really have their act ...
We have to preface this review by stating, that we have never in our 25+ cruise travels, felt compelled to give a review on a cruise line or cruise ship. Having said that, our Caribbean cruise in February on MSC's Lirica, definitely deserves comments and a review. We are Mother/ Daughter owners of a travel agency and also great travel companions. We have over 40 years in the travel business and ...
Went on the Lirica to 6 different ports. The embarkation was excellent, as it only took a few minutes getting there around 12:00(leaving at 7:00 P.M.). We were escorted to our cabin and this was never done before on any of our cruises (this one totals 5) all different cruise lines. It was so nice not having to find our own way to the cabin. We had a wonderful buffet lunch waiting and the ...
When I was sent the price from our Internet travel source we thought it would be a great time to try out a cruise line we have not tried. We were very interested in their itineraries because they are smaller and can visit different ports. We asked our agent and she said some people love it and some people hate it. Well we thought we would try it. Needless to say it was our 1st and will definitely ...
The Lirica with less than 1500 passengers last week is smaller than most of the cruise ships we have sailed. Public rooms were never crowded. There was never a crowd waiting to get into the dining rooms and we could always find a quiet place to relax.
Embarkation. At around 2PM we arrive in our car to the port, dropped off our luggage, and parked in the nearby garage. We proceeded through each ...
