Our family is relatively new to cruising, as this only being our fourth. Our first was on the Carnival Elation and the next two being on the Holland America Rotterdam. We knew going in this was going to be a very different experience as this was our first cruise on a "mega ship" and we knew that MSC operated a little bit different from other lines.

We only cruise out of the New York area and wanted to get to Mexico. This cruise stopped in both Costa Maya and Cozumel. Ship is gorgeous. Food, if you can get it hot, is OK. Getting the food while it's still hot at a sit down restaurant is challenging to say the least. My family and I were so excited to embark on our adventure aboard the Meraviglia our of Brooklyn New York. The departure was fine; however, when we arrived in both staterooms were dirty. I immediately called the cabin steward and she cleaned both rooms again. This was not a great way to start a week aboard a ship that is trying to enter the US market out of the east coast.

We aren’t experienced cruisers as this was our second cruise ever. First was two years back on Norwegian, on the same route we did on MSC.
First off the boat was great, nothing overly outdated, and the overhead screen was a good touch. Check in wasn’t long, but the waiting area was overcrowded and a lot of confusion. No screens were on and you can’t hear announcements.

I knew not to expect much but was shocked at how bad of an experience it actually was.
Check in was a disaster. It was a cluster! Check in actually was not too bad but the waiting room is a mess. Not enough seating and we had to wait over an hour before getting on the ship. Celebrating my 50th birthday on this Ship.
First let me get to the good part.
Our Cabin steward was Ralf and he was excellent.
Our rooms were always clean and he always asked about how our day was going whenever he sees us in the hallway. Ralf knew us by name. We loved Ralf.
For dinner, our waitresses were the best Phiri and Thu Thu. We loved you guys.

I never write review and felt compelled to revie this. I have been on 12 cruises (Disney, Royal Carribean, Norwegian, Carnival and now this one).
Pros: Ship is very nice, modern and clean
Staff was very nice
Ride was very smooth. We travelled thru a 50 Kt windy storm coming back and ship was steady
