Being first time cruisers (this being a "trial run" before doing a TA with Cunard), we had read up on reviews and info re MSC and the Poesia somewhat beforehand.
The Western Mediterranean intinerary suited us well, as we had never before been to Portugal.
Having 11 days in port out of a total 14 was a very exciting prospect, too. On paper, at least.
More about this later.

We are relatively new to cruises. Our first one was to Norwegian Fjords last year on NCL in the summer and the weather was more miss than hit so wanted to go somewhere hotter this time around. We found this cruise in the summer and something to look forward to as autumn closed in and was in the half term holidays. The price was also a factor, and we had a balcony, on a Fantastica package at the ...
My husband chose this cruise for the price and the fact it was a Mediterranean company as I’m Italian. We had a lovely time and to be honest the year before we went on celebrity and were really disappointed to be honest.
We have two boys and really they need activity and kids clubs to keep them occupied. The Magnifica really did supply and fill that need without any hidden extra costs which ...
The cruise ship was very well appointed, clean and well maintained.
The cabin, a Bella Class Balcony, was spacious, well maintained and had good shower facilities.
The itinerary was good with varying destinations from the Mediterranean ( Malaga) to Northern Europe (Hamburg).
The service in the restaurant was poor, with up to half- an- hour wait for the first course. The choice was very ...
we chose this cruise because it went from southampton to which we could drive and we qualified for free parking, also there was only stop on the itinerary that we has visited before. the ship also looked very good.
the ship was very comfortable plenty of seating areas and in general the staff were very helpful. that is the best i can say. the cabin steward was not one of the best. the food ...
We chose this cruise because it had ports we had not previously visited. When we booked it we asked the agency to clearly notify MSC that I would need wheelchair assistance at Southampton as I have mobility issues. There was none forthcoming, in fact we would not have been able to reach the terminal if it had not been for the ABP parking manager very kindly driving us and our hand luggage to the ...
Sailed from Southampton, Embarkation, disembarking went smoothly. The ship public areas were stunning, very clean and comfortable. The cabins are a bit tired, need some attention. Dining in the restaurant was lovely every night, service good. Eating in the buffet was not so good, food often only warm especially in morning for breakfast, cold eggs yuk. Toast made in advance so cold and hard, not ...
We chose this cruise as it sailed from Southampton. The only good thing was ship was clean and nicely decorated. We went to resturant first evening my husband order sirloin steak which was like shoe leather! I had chicken breast which was ploncked on chips no sides! So wr then ate in buffet for rest of cruise food was dreadful the only good thing was pizza. Our cabin on deck 10 wasn't the one we ...
Recommended by travel agent, having cruised for over 20 years with many cruise lines we found this quite disappointing, customer service was lacking and some of the staff were quite rude and unprofessional.
The ship itself was beautiful, gorgeous theatre, onboard entertainment in the lounges was mainly for the German passengers and quite poor.
Spoke to lots of customers and nobody had a nice ...
MSC Magnifica. Our party of five travelled on the 25th June from Southampton. Our experiences over the two weeks has left us reeling from the catalogue of diabolical service and procedures we endured whilst hoping to have a fun family holiday.
The food was atrocious. Meals came served Luke warm with little taste and often meat was chewy or over cooked. The choice on menus were very limited ...
