Itinerary good but service on ship disappointing

Review for a Middle East Cruise on MSC Lirica

We would probably never travel with MSC again and neither would a lot of people we spoke to on the cruise. We chose this cruise because of the itinerary - Dubai, Muscat, Eilat, Jordan, Suez Canal, Cyprus, Athens, Katakolon, Kotor, Split and Venice, which was on the whole very good. Athens was dropped because of bad weather and we ended up going to Corfu instead which was rather disappointing ...

We boarded the older unfancy SINFONIA HOP ON HOP OFF Ship in Civitivecchia/Rome for the winter Med itinerary which included Malta and Greece. We read all the luke warm reviews and decided to go ahead and try this different cruise lines, whom were the only one to have this itinerary in the winter. I am glad this wasn’t our first cruise. There were plenty of English speaking pax aboard from all ...

We chose this cruise after long cancer treatment .It looked a good deal with a great itinerary. Sadly this cruise proved to be a disappointment.Although we had a lovely cabin spacious and beautifully clean the rest was a let down. After cruising several times in the past we had high expectations .The food was boring and repetitive and not very large portions in the restaurant but the buffet ...

Very mixed feelings

Review for a Trans-Ocean Cruise on MSC Musica

We were delighted to find that the MSC Musica was relocating from the Med to South Africa, and booked Venice to Durban (24 days) as the conclusion of a long trip away from home in South Africa. By way of summary, our experience ran along these lines: 1 - The web site is a monster and needs some serious attention from someone who understands UX ('User Experience' - the trending approach to ...

MSC = Makes you Sick of Cruising

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Lirica

Went on the lirica. Decent ship with a really good itinerary but really poor service. Organisation is poor and while the food tastes good, there isn't much of it and it's very samey. Great cruise if you wanna lose weight. The service ours very poor from the restaurants and the bars. A lot waiting and asking for menus and basically to be served. Nobody really seems to care. The cruise ...

Chose the cruise because we liked the itinerary and had heard good things about MSC. On arrival at Venice we were kept waiting for ages at the terminal waiting for our transfer. We were given no information but found out later that there were problems due to the fog. Check in procedure could have been better, another long wait. Cabin was excellent, very spacious, fantastica suite. The ...

Old ship but a good time

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Sinfonia

User Avatar

Sinfonia is an older ship and it shows. Décor is dated and some areas are not large enough for the capacity (theatre, buffet). As Australian cruisers, we found the atmosphere to be lacking compared with our experiences cruising closer to home which probably reflects more on the high proportion of European passengers than the ship itself. Room was pretty standard. Well designed, plenty of ...

We booked this over a year before sailing. MSC would not let us bolt on a couple of days in Venice and the return flight home was too early to have an excursion, so sadly we did not get chance to go into Venice, although you did get to see the edge of it on the sail away. I also had to chase the flight details and paperwork information a couple of weeks before departure as I had not received ...

We flew from Washington DC into Marco Polo airport at 1100 am and went straight to the ship the day of the cruise. Tip, take the bus for 8 euro a person from Marco Polo to Venice and 1.50 euro a person for the ppl mover from the Venice bus stop to the cruise port ....save your money as the cabs and water taxi prices are high (unless you have 4 ppl for a taxi or if you packed many bags) and the ...
