Let me start by saying that this is the 6th cruise that I've been on in the last 10 years, across several different cruise lines, so I feel my expectations are pretty reasonable overall. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the food and service on this cruise. Ship The ship itself is beautiful - in addition to all the 'Bling' with the crystal staircases, I really liked the floor to ceiling windows in the buffet dining areas. Cabin Our cabin was an "ocean view' cabin (port hole, no balcony) and I was very happy with the size and amount of storage in the cabin. One minor annoyance was the crew washing down the outside of the porthole at 1:00 am on two different nights, which woke me up. Dining This was the worst part of the cruise. We were told to expect smaller portions due to the European dining styles vs US dining, and that would be fine with me. The problems were in other areas. Main Dining room - the first night, it took 2.5 hours to complete our meal. It was total chaos. The timing improved somewhat after that, but always tended toward the slow side, with people at the same table receiving portions of their meals at different times. I've also never seen an upcharge for shrimp cocktail or other entrees in the main dining room before this trip, but it was there every night. Also, the main dining room was only open for dinner, no breakfast or lunch. Buffet - So if not happy with the main dining room, eat at the buffet right? The problem is that the buffet served the exact same food every day, with 2 or 3 exceptions. By the end of the trip I was craving something different. Pizza restaurant - we did have an excellent pizza here, but with a small upcharge. Steak house - we had a great meal here, but the service was very slow. Sports bar - the burger was good here, as was the mozzarella sticks, but the reuben sandwich is served with literally 2 onion rings and a tablespoon of coleslaw. Several of us ordered this and it was they all came out this way. Entertainment - saw 2 shows and they were good, but only lasted about 30 minutes each. Service This was the other area of major disappointment. We were very often treated rudely by the staff. Part of this I can accept as language barrier type issues, and that would be ok, but other times, before we could even ask our question, or place our order, we were told "we are closed", or "No" with no alternatives being offered. Each day when they cleaned our cabin, something was missed, either wash cloths, pool towels, etc. Bar service started out shaky, but did improve over the course of the week. Ports and Shore Excursions Our itinerary changed significantly due to hurricane damage to our original destinations, but that is no fault of MSC. I was very happy with the excursions that we did book through the ship. Final thoughts - MSC has a long way to go if they want to break into the US market. There were a lot of problems that could have been overlooked, but by the end of the week I felt so frustrated with the service and attitude of the staff that other problems just added to my overall negative impression. I will never take another MSC cruise. Read Less

went with a lgbt bear group on this cruise the value was ok. the ship was ok but customer service was absolutely horrible. At one time the customer service rep. told me that I had no idea what I was talking about they I had never been on a cruise, I explained I have been on more than 10 cruise. They called me a liar, they did nothing at all to assist, the food was that same every day for the entire cruise seems like they would just reuse what ever did not go the day before no choices of meal lunch you can have pizza or a burger nothing else. In the evening time the buffet was never stocked had to wait in line for food MSC DIVINA was by far my worse experience every on any cruise and I have personally traveled on 3 other cruise lines Take my word on this!!!! STAY CLEAR OF THIS CRUISE LINE Read Less

This was our second cruise, we were with a big group and MSC did nothing to make us feel welcome or valued. The previous cruise was with Carnival which wasn't perfect but had much higher standards of customer service, more english speaking staff and better food options. Check-in procedure is online which is fine, you print off a 1 A4 sheet with your room details but little else and you're told you don't need luggage tags, except when you get to the port and you have to chase a porter to get one and fill it in on the dockside, the tags are waxed paper so take a good biro and have your cabin number to hand! Boarding in Miami is relatively smooth, I walk with a cane so was directed to the special assistance desk, although no one asked if I needed a wheelchair or any additional help boarding or not. The cabin was okay, even though it had been recently refitted, the dressing was pretty dark and plain, browns and yellows dominated. We had a larger balcony room with a sofa at the back of the boat which was a reasonable location. There was a good sized wardrobe with hangers and a small set of drawers. The bathroom has a small toilet, and average shower cubicle, with storage under the sink. TV is small with limited channel selection - lots of spanish channels, only english channels are CNN, BBC South America and Cartoon Network. We had booked a double bed and arrived to find two singles, we rang to ask to have the bed rearranged and was told it would happen after 6pm, it took four more calls before it was finally sorted out at 11.45PM! Cabin steward was noticeable by his absence, he was more visible smoking on the outdoor stairs next to our cabin, we raised this with customer services as the smoker blew into our balcony and cabin, they said that we would have to call when they were smoking so that they could come and catch them…I thought the cruise had camera's in all public spaces… The sheets weren't changed for 3 days and we had to chase to get fresh towels. Although it is useful to know that if you leave a key in the electrics pad (the thing you slot your key into to turn on the room electrics), then the steward can't enter the room, although this wasn't the case when the sheets weren't changed. The two main dining rooms are Black Crab and Villa Rossa, we were in Villa Rossa in the 2nd sitting. The food was really hit and miss, some days good, some days truly awful and inedible….the pasta was usually raw (and I know what al dente italian style is, this was not it!). They had really packed the tables close together which made it really hard to get in and out of table some time. The buffet was worse, with really limited salad selection, everything either undercooked and almost raw or stewed to the point of breaking down into brown sludge. The lunch time buffet was really bad with poor seasoning, uninspiring dishes and a real lack of imagination in the cooking. The desserts were the same every day and really disappointing compared to out other cruise experience. There aren't really any alternative included options, we didn't eat in any of the three paid for restaurants but everyone who did was really disappointed. They make a big thing in the brochures of the gelatto, and it is nice ice cream but you have to pay for the nice stuff and the stand was rarely staffed. All the staff were pretty rude and abrupt, with the majority having very bad english or really none at all, this included the customer service staff who's english was appalling. unlike other cruises, on the MSC Divina it is really hard to get served a drink…..hunting down a waitress was the first challenge, then trying to get across the order was the second challenge, and finally waiting for the drinks to arrive (with the right order)….and then the disappointment that the majority of the cocktails were truly disgusting, pure alcohol and no finesse or skill in mixing…the bar staff need a major lesson in bar tending…. We went to one show while on the boat, the Witches of Paris, which was boring and really underwhelming. The singing was bland, the choreography was weak and the acrobatics in line with a third rate circus. Our friends went to see the Micheal Jackson Tribute which was equally bad. The one highlight was the astronomy talks and guides, our friends went to these and loved them, really informative, interesting and innovative taking advantage of the beautiful clear skies and stunning stars. The pool areas are okay, there are a range of hot tubs at different temperatures with the largest seating 10 people, so was always a bit of a gamble on getting a seat and the pools were small salty plunge pools really. You are not allowed to have drinks by the hot tub - despite everything being plastic - which was a bit of a downer. The gym is large and was well used on the cruise, there wasn't much else to do given the poor entertainment and awful food. The highlight was the excursions which were well organised, although in general they were local tours which MSC facilitates access to, and in two there were long coach journeys which weren't mentioned in the guide on the boat or website when we booked them, not sure we would have chosen Tulum ruins if we'd have know 3hrs would be taken up on a coach and boat! There were issues for people with limited mobility getting on and off the tender and the crew just didn't seem to have thought about disability awareness and were rude handling some of the elderly passengers on and off the boat. Disembarkation was a bit chaotic and we were given the wrong tags and when we went back to swap them they had run out, so was all a bit messy but we got off the boat with our luggage so I guess that's success. So in essence, bad food, poor service, and disappointing environment….   Read Less

I will start out by saying that my partner and I go on a cruise every year. We have been on Royal, Carnival, and Norwegian prior to this MSC Cruise. We went as part of a group that took up about half of the ship. The activities that were planned for the group were wonderful and had it not been for the group we would have gotten off the ship at the first port and flew back home. 1. Embarkation - They decided it would be a smart idea to put an employee who knew nothing about computers at the check in desk and then oh yeah have someone looking over his shoulder who also knew nothing about computers. Needless to say the check in process took about 20 minutes too long. Also the ship was late in getting people off the ship so we weren't allowed to board until approximately 12:30 (always have been able to board earlier then that on other ships) 2. Getting to the cabin - Our cabin wasn't ready at 1pm like they typically are. I will give the steward some credit though because he was great the rest of the week and was one of the only good employees on the ship. Still it took until around 4pm for our cabin to be ready. 3. Food - the food in the main dining room was terrible. It was served warm and not hot most of the time, had no favor to it and the service was terrible. It was not like other ships where the waiters learn what you like and seem happy to see you. The servers dropped the food in front of you and were quite annoyed if you asked for anything. The food in the buffets was ok... same as usual. The Steakhouse on board (extra charge) was the only good meal we had. Honestly the most comical thing was that this is an Italian cruise line and the Italian food was terrible... very bland and tasteless. 4. The Bar Service - there is maybe one or two cocktail servers at each bar. Same goes for the pool. Most times you had to beg a bartender or a server to get you a drink. A lot of times we were told that they didn't make very many types of drinks at the different bars so you were out of luck. We heard sorry a lot but no one seemed to care. 5. Excursions - Please note that if you are doing an excursion it is not like on other cruise lines. The descriptions sometimes make it seem like you are on the same excursion with your friends because you are both doing the dolphin swim (one without the dolphin part) but when you get to the area for the excursion you are told they are two separate excursions. When you say you don't want to do it because you don't want to be separated... you will definitely not get your money back. you will just get told sorry. 6. Aurea Spa Suites - We booked this suite and were told that certain spa packages come with this suite. This is not the case apparently. WHY CALL IT A SPA SUITE??? We were told that they only offered that in Europe and not in America. When we asked them to make good by what we were told, we got the usual sorry but nothing was done. It is ok... they are the ones that lost out on money because we would have spent a lot of money in the spa but now they weren't going to see a dime. 7. No bar service in the theater 8. Maintenance was VERY slow to respond. 9. They apparently have no authority to make any decisions on the ship. Everything requires an email to Italy and it takes days for them to respond. 10. Saw a bartender throw a drink at a patron 11. People were stuck on an elevator for 45 minutes and when they tried to use the phone in the elevator to call they were put on hold. Finally when someone came to help the patrons were yelled at and told they were only stuck for 3 minutes (it was 45 by one guy who actually timed it). These people were given a free drink... um but they had unlimited drink packages... 12. Our bill on board was off by 2200. When we went to get it sorted out we were accused that it was somehow our fault. Ten minutes later we got our real bill printed with no apology. 13. GETTING OFF THE SHIP WAS A COMPLETE DISASTER (and we were told it was better than the week prior) All in all had a great vacation because of the group we were with but I will never step on another MSC Cruise Ship again. I have received a phone call from MSC customer service who took all this information from me and promised me an email immediately. It has been at least 3 days now and no email and no return call. Other friends have been told that they will be responded to without a month. PLEASE STAY AWAY.   Read Less

Our 10th Anniversary was ruined. No dancing, no romantic dinners, it was a take over of a large and very different group. All the reviews seem to be the same. The food was less than acceptable. The dinning room Villa Rosa was awful. The food was laughable, the service was nonexistent. The buffet was cafeteria food, it was very salty and tasted like we were eating institutional food. Forget about getting a drink on this cruise. None of the wait staff cared to wait on anyone. The bartenders ignored you. They did keep the tables clean, that's about it. Midnight buffet was hot dog rolls and your choice of tuna fish, chicken salad and egg salad and maybe ham. I was afraid to eat any of it. Where were the ice sculptures the exotic food? This is not what I remember when I cruised with Royal Caribbean. I first want to say I have nothing against gay/lesbians or drag queens. I didn't expect to vacation with them on a ship for seven days. That should have been my choice. I have friends and family who I love that are gay, so I want to be clear that I have nothing against them what so ever. We happened to be on a cruise that was inundated with over 2,000 drag queens, and a very large gay and lesbian group. At first I really didn't understand what was going on. But then they took over the ship. There was no where to go for a peaceful relaxing time. The entertainment was just ok. There was no bands or orchestras. Everything was lip sync. The theater show was the same every night, just different theme and costumes. Kind of strange. The guest services was a joke. They never helped us in any way. They either didn't know or they gave us the run around. They always had the wrong information or no information at all. "Sorry we can't help you". Don't ask for a wake up call, because you won't get it. They will pretend that they will wake you, but they won't. The nonsense frat party and drag queen parties that went on day in and day out was to say the least offensive. I literally hid in my cabin and ordered room service. The room service was good by the way, but very limited in choices. Coffee, tea and salad was delicious. I'm not sure where that food came from, but it was certainly so much better than any other food on the ship. The fitness center was top notch as was the spa. Day one I wanted off that ship. The disgusting display of some of these groups was appalling. I felt bad for the people who had children and elderly parents with them. Some of the things that happened were X rated and I don't feel comfortable putting it in this review. I felt trapped and disgusted. MSC did the wrong thing allowing these groups to be integrated into the very small population of people who had no idea what they were in for. These groups did not want us on this ship. They took over all of the bars, pool and entertainment areas. Every night they had a theme. One night was Hell. Priests and Nuns dressed like the devil, real nice!!! The stories go on, and way to vile to put on this site. NO ONE WAS TOLD THAT THESE GROUPS WERE GOING TO BE ON THE SHIP. I would have sailed a different day for sure. We will NEVER ever go on a cruise again. I never want to be put in a position where I spend a lot of money and be trapped with no food or acceptable entertainment. I am disgusted. The service was horrible. You couldn't get a drink at the bar EVER. Food was terrible but I give them an A for cleanliness. Most of the staff could care less about you or understand you. They were all a bunch of miserable people. Except for Angus in the cigar lounge. There was hate crimes going on as well. Security was a joke. But I'm sure these poor German couples are calling their lawyers. Security did nothing but allow situations to escalate. Even when an officer of the ship was called, nothing was done about this situation. What happened was considered a "Hate Crime" in the USA. I am so done. I don't even want to talk about it anymore. Just watch yourself. I would NEVER recommend MSC, they have no idea what they are doing. Beautiful ship run by robots. I thank God for our excursions. That was our only solace. But then we had to get back on that God forsaken ship and hide in our cabin. Peace to all. Read Less
