A lot to praise....but disappointing aspects.

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Lirica

My wife and I chose MSCs 20 day 'Grand Voyage' from Genoa to Rio de Janeiro, leaving 04/11. We prefer sea-time over port-time and this had an exotic itinerary. This was the ship's first voyage after it's 27m 'stretch' and much refurbishing of public areas. We understood this was a 40 day operation which is an outstanding achievement. Our impressions were fully positive about the results of this ...

My wife and I were on an 18 day Repositioning cruise from Barcelona, Spain to Miami, USA with 8 Ports of Call (including Miami) from Oct. 25 to Nov. 11 2015. Pros:1- Exceptional itinerary. 2- The MSC Divina is , for sure, a beautiful ship, super clean and spotless. 3- Our cabin, with balcony, was spacious and roomy. 4- The staff delivered a commendable service and they were most ...

Arrived back in North America last week after an 18-day cruise from Genoa across the Atlantic Ocean to Miami on the MSC Divina This was our first trip with MSC so we were open to it being different to other cruise lines. Prior to booking this trip I must confess I never gave it a thought that being as the cruise started in Italy and being as it was an Italian ship most of the passengers would be ...

Missed Bermuda!!!

I booked this cruise SPECIFICALLY to visit Bermuda. As we sailed from New York we were given the bad news that we would not be going to Bermuda because of bad weather. However, one person whilst booking the cruise with an agent, was told that Bermuda would probably be missed. another was told by a crew member that it would probably be missed and a lady due to board in Bermuda was told 2 days ...

Don't sign on for the food.

The ship is beautiful and has lots of potential. The cruise director did a great job of providing a variety of entertainment and shows. The cabin was very nice and spacious. Our biggest disappointment was the food. Our serving staff was wonderful but the food quality and preparation has much room for improvement. For an Italian ship you'd think there would be more italian dishes offered, but ...

Not the worst

The bad The food was of institutional quality. Looked nice, but tough, not cooked enough or too much, and of a commercial grade. Coffee, was the pits, so was forced to pay for a fresh cappuccino with breakfast. Food at buffet was cold, lacking in variety, small portion sizes, and set up in a non functioning manner. Poolside was overly crammed, insufficient lounges, very LOUD sounds from the ...

NEVER AGAIN....

My wife and I have been on a number of cruises, but this was to be a first with MSC. Boarding on the 28th April in Cape Town was a shambles - no porters to assist the elderly with heavy bags, no trolleys, 3 hours of queuing, and when finally aboard, told that cabins not ready. We had an Ocean View (no.3086, just below the balcony cabin deck), which was considerably smaller than on any other ...

MSC Divina but not divine

This was our first cruise with MSC and after praise from a TV show about the ship we had high expectations. Once on board initial impressions were good. We had an inside cabin on deck 5 which was one deck below the casino and on the same deck as the main lobby for enquiries and help desk. The lobby/atrium was quite impressive spread over three decks with the famous swarowski crystal stair cases ...

Voyage with MSC Magnifica: not bad but also not very good

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Magnifica

This was our first cruise with MSC. We are experienced cruisers, having sailed before with many other lines (European and North American cruiselines). We did our homework before sailing and we knew what not to expect at MSC cruises (for example no free table water nor coffee or tea after dinner). For that reason many things already mentioned on this board have not bothered us. We were prepared and ...

MSC Poesia - My experience

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Poesia

I was wondering about the very different reviews for the Poesia. Some people love it and others have been highly unhappy. I was not too thrilled about it either. I talked to people they actually booked a cruise the year before to see and experience the ship before they booked the transatlantic cruise. They've been saying if it would have been anything what we experience here today we would not ...
