My elderly mother has always wanted to go on a cruise and so she finally decided to go on one and bring her two children along and her grandchildren. She chose MSC because all of her friends had persuaded her to as they described it as 'wonderful'. When we finally got to the port in Palermo went queued up for ages to register ourselves and to get our bags sent to our rooms. As soon as we got on the cruise the staff took our pictures so they can register us and they were very welcoming! But as we finally thought we were free to roam around and explore the cruise all the members of staff wanted to sell everyone drink packages and they were very persistent. When we finally got to our rooms we were amazed at our view - we had paid for a balcony view and it was marvellous. There were deck chairs on our balcony and I would be lying if I said I didn't spend ages relaxing on the balcony throughout my stay. My two daughters shared a room with my mother and my auntie and so my daughters had to share a sofa bed. The sofa bed was apparently extremely comfortable which was very good. In our rooms we could alter the temperature which was amazing and the room service was brilliant. The cleaners NEVER interrupted us at all and if you leave dirty towels near the sink they clean it for you free of charge. The restaurants were okay, it was nothing amazing. We had steak one night and we asked for medium and it came back burnt. The food in the buffet is a lot better than the food in the restaurants surprisingly. The buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they serve pizza 24/7. One night we had dinner at the buffet and watched a show at the theatre. The theatre was huge and they offer many shows. There was always something to do on the cruise like going to the arcades, the pool, shows etc. The entertainment is amazing! When you arrive in a country you are basically given no guides at all. Most of the time have to pay for the bus or a taxi however at Rome there was a free bus. You can pay for a tour guide but it is very overpriced. However, there is one big reason why I would never go on an MSC cruise again. I have an twenty-year-old and a thirteen-year-old daughter. Whenever we went to the restaurants or buffets they would be 'catcalled' or whistled at - it was horrible! One time at the buffet a worker got in the way of my daughter and wouldn't let her pass and was very tormenting. There was an older worker who was bald who looked down my younger daughters top. The workers were absolute perverts! If you want to go on a cruise I suggest going to a different one if you want it to be a family-safe environment as the service is very bad. Read Less

I just come back with my family from a 7 days Mediterranean Cruise, with MSC Musica, I`ve been around the world taking many Cruises, I have my standards, maybe a little spoiled with the real cruises.

The food was school cafeteria style, Not Italian for sure,

The service was limited,

the service personnel, rude, annoyed, for what understand unhappy to do their job and show.

to make things worse my daughter slip and fall in a wet ,unclean floor, went to see the doctor to receive some first aid on her feet, with some bandages, and I WAS BILLED 160 EUROS!! About 200 $

(You can contact me , I`ll show you the bill) .And she was forced to pay it, borrowing money from her mother, because in Marseilles he wallet with her Chase Credit Card and cash mysterious disappear it from her purse.

Instead to apologize for the unsafe floor conditions, they take advantage of the " stupid American", that`s ho we are referred.

One positive note - they make use the ship phone in the ship to let me know to stop the Credit Card. So that`s my only thank you.

To top the disgusting experience the last day in the boat ,today September 15, 2014 somebody stole her iPhone, with all the pictures of our Italian vacation, maybe better off so we don`t think about this disgrace to book this cruise.

Take at your own risk. You`ve been warned.

Why I don`t read the review?

Overall a pleasant trip. Food was very good and room was nice. Unfortunately we traveled at a time of severe unrest in the Middle East. My wife and I visited Tunis and later that same day they had a riot (Sept 11, 2012), Marseille where they had a demonstration, and Barcelona where they had strikes(I think over austerity). It certainly wasn't MSC's fault but heck, I'm paying for excitement I didn't reckon on and it was unsettling.

We made a grievious error eating breakfast at the buffet every day until the very last day when we ate in the dining room. Crowded, noisy, rude travelers AND busboys-not a pleasant experience. We should have eaten at the dining room every morning-great waiters, beautiful room, quite! Our mistake because we always had good experiences at breakfast buffets on other cruise lines.

Disappointed with entertainment(shows).
