I have been on royal caribean ,celebrity ,azamara princess and carnival . This is my first review here .Divina is a little too busy for me lots of non english speakers which is not a problem for me but it does make for a different experience.food was ok buffet a bit manic pool area very busy it takes a little longer to get served at some of the bars .our room was pretty good at the back of the ship nice big balcony .room cleaning was just ok again not a big problem but no turn down fyi. Most of the staff were great, but didn't seem as friendly as other cruises but i think maybe it's because they don't know where you are from so are not sure how to greet you? .The ports were all good palermo cagliari palma valencia marseille genoa cittevetchia and a reasonable price too.If you don't like too busy a balcony is a must.not my best cruise but would do MSC again if the itenary was right .Entertainment a little cheesy for me seen better but i cruise for the stops . I will start by saying the Meraviglia is just a stunning ship. So modern and beautiful, and she has so many spaces I adore such as the indoor pool and the galleria. I have a very unlikely hope that MSC will sell her to another line so we can cruise her again! As sadly, this was our first and will be our last MSC cruise. First I will address the positives. As mentioned, the ship is 5 star amazing. Our cabin, a standard inside, was much bigger than insides on other cruise lines. The floor space was huge! Unfortunately the storage space was terrible. I'm sure they could have made more of that floor space- a sofa with drawers would have been perfect. We loved the pools both indoors and out. There are lots of hot tubs, although sadly some were always broken. We loved the galleria and the chocolate shop! Boarding in Palermo was a breeze, although I suspect that was because so few people board there. We saw both Cirque shows (eventually, after one was cancelled twice) and enjoyed both. Although we did not think they were the same quality as Cirque dreams on NCL (despite that not being official cirque!). The other shows were.... weird. Like watching a particularly random Eurovision entry. The entertainment highlight of the cruise was the 60s party in the Galleria which was brilliant. So, to get onto the negatives. Unfortunately everything I'd heard about the food was true. We went to the MDR twice on our 5 night cruise and then just stopped and went to the buffet instead. The MDR food was barely edible, and this is from really non-fussy people. Both nights we went to the buffet straight after the MDR as we were still hungry, having left most of the food. The buffet was fine- the choice at dinner was a little limited, especially for desserts. The ship made mozzarella was very good. While the buffet was 'good enough' it is nothing like the range and quality found on lines such as NCL. It was such a shame that the food was such a let down- aren't Italians supposed to care about their food! We were also unhappy with our dining time allocation of 6pm- when we booked a Fantastica fare, this came with promised 'Flexible dining', however MSC removed this without informing us. When I rang to query this they couldn't have cared less. The other huge negative was service. I really don't want to say this but it felt like unless you are Italian you are a second class citizen. While we found the occasionally friendly staff member- such as the British guy working at Cirque, and some of the photographers- the others were brusque bordering on rude. Nobody seemed to know anything of how things work. We had massive problems with the photo package we had pre purchased ahead of time and wished we had not bought it. Not only was the variety of photos poor (no dinner or port photos like on NCL), but it was such a hassle to actually get them. None of their 'scanners' worked so you had to pick out your photos from the wall each night and queue up so they can put them in a box. On the last night they were supposed to scan these boxed photos on a card for us. We had to return to the desk no less than 4 times between early afternoon and midnight attempting to get our photos, as they kept telling us different things and sending us away. They just wanted to get rid of us and had no interest in helping us. One guy would start helping us, then drop us completely because an Italian had come up to the desk- incredibly frustrating. Come midnight when they tried to send us away again as they were closing, promising 'we are open in the morning, come and get your photo card then' we point blank refused to leave until we got our photos. Guess what- the next morning the photo gallery was shut. I'm not that fussy on service but I don't expect to be totally lied to by the staff. Disembarkation was also a nightmare. They do not give you a choice of time. They gave us 11.20am which was way too late- I had to queue for ages at guest services and the earliest they would swap it for was 9.35. On the morning it was an absolute shambles with people pushing and shoving and staff totally clueless. In the end we had to beg to be let through by claiming we were missing our flight (thank god we actually weren't). They then corralled everyone into a tiny corridor with no room to move and no reason for being held there. It was actually a potentially dangerous situation- if a panic had set off people could have been crushed. When we've done other cruises we've waltzed off the ship in 5 minutes with no issues- I have no idea how MSC could make disembarkation this bad. It took over 2hrs to disembark. Overall, as you can see the negatives sadly outweigh the positives. While this cruise was cheap, it was not good value because of too many poor elements. We are not hard to please- we love other mainstream cruise lines, we're not expecting luxury. But this was just not good enough. I hear they are much better in America, but there's so much choice of cruise line out there that we'll never give them another chance. Read Less

The only positive thing that we found is the ship itself. (decoration etc) Everything else was very very poor. We bought the all inclusive drink package in the msc usa website over a month in advance, as it was charged from my bank account, I didnt worry about anything. The surprise came on our first day of cruise, when nobody could find our package! The only thing that we were told for days is that we should wait for a reply for their office to see IF they find something... my husband and I had to go to the reception everyday trying to sort this out, spend hours in there seeing them typing a lot of things in the computer, but not be done. They finally found the package after 4 days, and when we asked for a refund and said that we didn't want to use the package anymore, and pay individually for each drink, we were told that now that they have in their computer we have to use and the drinks that we have before would be refunded. HOW CAN WE USE A PACKAGE THAT WE PAY FOR 7 DAYS AND RECEIVED JUST ON THE 4TH DAY??? we can easily make a list of things that went wrong... we were so disappointed with everything that we just wanted to leave the cruise. 1- pay for something and don't use as we should 2- I ordered a birthday cake for my husband 2 months before and I asked to be delivered on his birthday (10/04) and they delivery a day before(when we arrived). When I saw it in the room I asked someone to pick it up and bring back on the arranged time on the next day... which they forgot to deliver back and the little surprise that I wanted to do was ruined. ( it was something that I payed for.) 3- ask for room services and be ignored. My husband has an injury on his feet and he needs to put some ice during the day and all the times that we asked we had to call 3 times to get it in the room. The staffs could be much more nice and friendly. We even met staff that complained about the way that the cruise works, saying that they don't get a proper training. To hear something like from a employee saying to a GUEST can show how unorganized this place is. 4- The shower drain in our room was blocked, we asked twice for the staff come to have a look and nothing was done. We even started to think that could be normal have the whole toiled flooded after shower... When on our very last day of cruise, we had a shower and saw it fixed. We told on the first they. We felt that they fixed for the next guest only. 5- the food and entertainment is very bad either. It was suppose to be a special trip for us to celebrate our birthday and our wedding anniversary and this is just ruining everything. Read Less

My elderly mother has always wanted to go on a cruise and so she finally decided to go on one and bring her two children along and her grandchildren. She chose MSC because all of her friends had persuaded her to as they described it as 'wonderful'. When we finally got to the port in Palermo went queued up for ages to register ourselves and to get our bags sent to our rooms. As soon as we got on the cruise the staff took our pictures so they can register us and they were very welcoming! But as we finally thought we were free to roam around and explore the cruise all the members of staff wanted to sell everyone drink packages and they were very persistent. When we finally got to our rooms we were amazed at our view - we had paid for a balcony view and it was marvellous. There were deck chairs on our balcony and I would be lying if I said I didn't spend ages relaxing on the balcony throughout my stay. My two daughters shared a room with my mother and my auntie and so my daughters had to share a sofa bed. The sofa bed was apparently extremely comfortable which was very good. In our rooms we could alter the temperature which was amazing and the room service was brilliant. The cleaners NEVER interrupted us at all and if you leave dirty towels near the sink they clean it for you free of charge. The restaurants were okay, it was nothing amazing. We had steak one night and we asked for medium and it came back burnt. The food in the buffet is a lot better than the food in the restaurants surprisingly. The buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they serve pizza 24/7. One night we had dinner at the buffet and watched a show at the theatre. The theatre was huge and they offer many shows. There was always something to do on the cruise like going to the arcades, the pool, shows etc. The entertainment is amazing! When you arrive in a country you are basically given no guides at all. Most of the time have to pay for the bus or a taxi however at Rome there was a free bus. You can pay for a tour guide but it is very overpriced. However, there is one big reason why I would never go on an MSC cruise again. I have an twenty-year-old and a thirteen-year-old daughter. Whenever we went to the restaurants or buffets they would be 'catcalled' or whistled at - it was horrible! One time at the buffet a worker got in the way of my daughter and wouldn't let her pass and was very tormenting. There was an older worker who was bald who looked down my younger daughters top. The workers were absolute perverts! If you want to go on a cruise I suggest going to a different one if you want it to be a family-safe environment as the service is very bad. Read Less

I just come back with my family from a 7 days Mediterranean Cruise, with MSC Musica, I`ve been around the world taking many Cruises, I have my standards, maybe a little spoiled with the real cruises. The food was school cafeteria style, Not Italian for sure, The service was limited, the service personnel, rude, annoyed, for what understand unhappy to do their job and show. to make things worse my daughter slip and fall in a wet ,unclean floor, went to see the doctor to receive some first aid on her feet, with some bandages, and I WAS BILLED 160 EUROS!! About 200 $ (You can contact me , I`ll show you the bill) .And she was forced to pay it, borrowing money from her mother, because in Marseilles he wallet with her Chase Credit Card and cash mysterious disappear it from her purse. Instead to apologize for the unsafe floor conditions, they take advantage of the " stupid American", that`s ho we are referred. One positive note - they make use the ship phone in the ship to let me know to stop the Credit Card. So that`s my only thank you. To top the disgusting experience the last day in the boat ,today September 15, 2014 somebody stole her iPhone, with all the pictures of our Italian vacation, maybe better off so we don`t think about this disgrace to book this cruise. Take at your own risk. You`ve been warned. Why I don`t read the review?   Read Less

Overall a pleasant trip. Food was very good and room was nice. Unfortunately we traveled at a time of severe unrest in the Middle East. My wife and I visited Tunis and later that same day they had a riot (Sept 11, 2012), Marseille where they had a demonstration, and Barcelona where they had strikes(I think over austerity). It certainly wasn't MSC's fault but heck, I'm paying for excitement I didn't reckon on and it was unsettling. We made a grievious error eating breakfast at the buffet every day until the very last day when we ate in the dining room. Crowded, noisy, rude travelers AND busboys-not a pleasant experience. We should have eaten at the dining room every morning-great waiters, beautiful room, quite! Our mistake because we always had good experiences at breakfast buffets on other cruise lines. Disappointed with entertainment(shows). Read Less
