to go to places i have never been, but this did not happen as the itinary changed frequently and we had to go to places i was not interested in,out of the 28 day cruise we were at sea for fourteen of them as we were not allowed to dock.in my opinion this cruise should never had taken place and should have been cancelled.ships main staff could not or more to the point would not answer straight forward questions hoping you would not bother to ask again. the ship was clean but there was not a lot else for staff to do as there was only about 1800 guest on a ship that holds about 3500,bar staff and restaurant staff very helpful but food a disappointment.cabin clean and tidy, entertainment non existent as was only on for about 1/2 hour a night and a sports bar that showed no sport, bingo once a week, and on deck all they played was kids games with not many kids onboard, would i sail with this cruise line again NEVER EVER. First time on board of MSC Bellissima. Thought the itinerary was interesting therefore made the choice. Sail date was 07 March 2020, which was during coronavirus outbreak. They should have cancelled the cruise as there were many Italians and older people. But the aim of this corporation is MONEY and not the well being of people. They cancelled 2 ports of call so just circling around Dubai and Abu Dhabi. But they offered no refund at all. Absolutely nothing to do on board and entertainment lacklustre. Never been on a cruise ship where you have to pay to use the sauna and steam room. Even fitness classes inside the gym all with a price tag. Other cruise lines offer as daily activities. Staffs were not well trained, giving out contradicting information and lying constantly to cover their backs. Main objective was to squeeze more and more money from customers. Also they made you pay for the theatre shows! Absolutely ridiculous! Terrible customer service! Even when they made mistake in providing information, they refuse to rectify for customer benefit. Staffs were not knowledgeable and rude; no sense of customer satisfaction. Food was mediocre. Again must pay pay pay even in standard dining restaurant. Worst of all restaurant staffs coughing openly without covering with tissue or masks! Highly unacceptable amid covid outbreak! NEVER sail again with MSC! Read Less

Cruise chosen as a replacement for another tour. Successful stay from start to end.Entering the deck and exits from the deck hassle-free and smooth. Our cabin with balcony spacious. Bar replenished after each use. Towels are exchanged very often. Extra towels for beach. Food very good.Huge buffet with dozens of dishes. Outside the buffet themed restaurants. Our stay we had no extra packages. We didn't mean to taste liquors during the cruise. Entertainment was not missing. Theatre, circus, casino, swimming pools, whirlpool, cross-country and walking trails and much more. Small town with shops, bars and restaurants. If you want to enjoy all the attractions you will run out of time to sleep. Every day different from the day before. Service flawless. Nice and smiling. In the course of the cruise, optional excursions. We had previously booked trips before boarding. Not all of them were held, but it was because of the current situation. We didn't call two ports in Oman. It was a pity, however, not disturbed in a pleasant stay on a cruise ship. Certainly, if time permits, we will sail again Read Less

We are highly disappointed and feel cheated out of our money. I feel like MSC should’ve canceled the cruise due to coronavirus outbreak as we didn’t visit any ports outside of UAE. I refuse to believe that MSC did not know this ahead of time. We stayed at sea most of time and basically cruised from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. We disembarked early in Dubai as we simply could not take being on the ship anymore due to poor service, horrible food, nickel and diming for everything, nd lack of activities. We truly feel we should receive a discount/partial refund due to not being able to visit any of the ports. We’ve traveled on several of the main stream cruise lines internationally and this is by far the worst experience ever that makes me say I may not ever cruise again. The staff on board was rude, told lies, and not empowered to make any concessions on the ship to help guests. When we asked what was required to disembark early, they tried to have us sign a full release and we refused. Then tried to bully us into signing or that we couldn’t get off the ship. The staff was very arrogant and ignorant and I basically told them that they aren’t legal experts to interpret a document for me when I am versed and deal with legal contracts all the time. Excursions are overpriced on the ship. You can get them cheaper elsewhere. MSC will cancel on you for any reason but if you want to cancel the staff will say they cancelled it but did not then when you check back in, they lie and say you didn’t cancel and now you are within the 48 hour window and cannot cancel. This after we said we would disembark early and we were told all of our activities have been cancelled since we will depart the ship. The only accolades I can give is for the condition of the cruise ship, the gym, the Butcher’s Cut steakhouse, and a few key staff like Rupawantara - waiter, Kumar – waiter, John – Karoke and entertainment, Alexander Lobo – host, who helped make things ok wh Drink package – if You don’t buy some package you don’ have any beverage that is free except in the buffet require purchase. We bought a drink package but still was limited. It is limited to 10 Euro. The package can’t be used at many of the stores/cafes on the ship – ex chocolate store/ café, champagne bar doesn’t have anything under 18 a glass. They charged our friends for tap water which is free on other ships. The drink card can’t be used in the Cirque du Soleil theatre. You have to buy your drinks there. Speciality drinks are also not covered even if below 10 euro a drink. The drink card can’t be used in the theatre. You have to buy your drinks there. Drinks are watered down so we ordered straight liquor to get our money’s worth. Dining – The buffet/marketplace is absolutely horrible. Food is not available all day. The food was very bland and not at all international standards. Even the pizza, hamburgers were sub-par. Fries were the best thing on the ship if not inside the specialty restaurants. The main dining each night was hit or miss. The surroundings were elegant and nice and the menus change every day, but the food was often less than delightful as well. We often had to try more than one dish and then just give up and go get fries from the buffet. We were literally hungry the entire cruise and everyone we met made a similar comment. Service on the ship is bad. You get a different explanation or different information from each person. I even asked to speak with a manager several Times. One time I got a lady named Ana S. She totally lied to me and said we did not have a conversation. The crew will cut in front of the passengers as if we aren’t there. Customer service was non existent. On other cruises, on exiting for an excursion, someone would be on the jetty providing directions to where you needed to go, offering you water or just being available in case you needed to ask a question. None of that existed for MSC. Entertainment: The entertainment was a joke. There was one good band with a female lead other than that nothing that catered to different tastes and interests. In one bar singers had to read from sheets on music stands. The band in the karoke bar missed more notes than children. The theatre shows were hit or miss. Cirque was really good but the dinner and drinks that went with it were laughable and misleading and again not part of the beverage package. If you got the show and drinks only, it was some pre made watered down beverages. So I pay for drinks and can’t even select the drink I want? Everything on board costs extra money. There’s nothing all inclusive about this ship. The ship is new and stunning, but the service and food are absolutely horrible. This is the first time we took a cruise and got off (disembarked) early. I wish I had known the problems with MSC and the food and service. We are truly due some level of pro-rated refund or something. Also there was no facial tissue in the cabins and hardly enough toilet tissue. Read Less

I thought this a good time as any to write this review, as I’m lying in bed listening to the clanking and pounding coming from above our cabin. Disappointment began departure day. They had the wrong boarding time listed on our e tkts and we could have checked in about 4 hrs earlier. Fortunately, we didn’t miss check in completely. This is a new Billion dollar ship. They should have spent a little more and provided a chair or small couch in our cabin. We have a very small stool and a bed. Yet there is enough room for a loveseat. Storage area is severely lacking. By far the least of any of the 25 cruises I have taken. Be aware of the liquor package. We paid $490 USD each, plus 15%, for the EASY package. The only East thing about this package is the extremely limited options the bartenders need to worry about. We are limited to a cap of 6 Euros for a drink. That gives us 1 choice of beer, 4 poor quality choices of wine, about 6 kinds of mixed drinks, soft drinks and bottled water. If I asked for a drink priced higher, I could not pay the difference, I have to pay the complete higher price. They offered to upgrade me to the next premium package for another 10 euro per day. My wife only drinks wine, and they would not allow just 1 of us to upgrade the package. We bought our package in advance but had we waited until on board, we would have paid about $70 USD less per person. They are very pushy with their up sells on the liquor and dining packages. Almost like a time share sale. I also find the price for the Dining experience to be quite high in the Specialty restaurants. If you want to order a steak or lobster tail at the regular dinner seating, it’s not included and costs 20-24 Euro. I’ve always had an option of a Caesar salad at the sit down dinner. Here it’s available only every few days. Our cabin is directly below the room service make up area. We are in 11276. Do not stay in this room. They prepare 24 hrs a day and it’s constantly banging, rolling cart noises and clanking. . I asked to be moved and will find out tomorrow if they will accommodate us. We have 12 more nights to try and get some sleep. The Casino games are very limited. There is NO poker available and the minimum bet on blackjack is 10 Euro. This is the third cruise for me with MSC. We have enjoyed the previous 2 and have another booked from Italy in June. I will be Good Level status after this trip. The ship itself is beautiful with lots to offer everyone. Easy to get around. Entertainment is good. It’s early in our cruise, and I hope we don’t find any more major disappointments. Read Less

I booked this cruise 3 days before the virus hysteria started. I chose it because it was very cheap (about 40 euro person/day) with an Ok itinerary. It turned out to be probably the best and definitely the most luxurious cruise in my life. First of all, because of the virus MSC completely remade the first half of the cruise, making the itinerary much better than I initially booked. Instead of the freezing and wet Shanghai, Okinawa and Hong Kong, which were cancelled, MSC moved the embarkation to Singapore and added Langkawi, Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Saigon (that's two more ports than the original route!), and all the itinerary was in the perfect tropical weather! The itinerary became MILES better. They let us embark a day earlier, Feb 13th, with no extra charge. I know the ship came 1 hour later than promised and there was about 2 hour line of people who came by the announced embarkation time, but thankfully I found out about that when still at the airport, walked around the city, came at 10 pm and was onboard in 10 minutes with no hassle. There were just 1300 passengers onboard(the max capacity is 4300!), all the rest got afraid of the virus and (stupidly) cancelled. That turned all the ship into the Yacht club. :) Indeed, the ship felt more like a huge private yacht. I had absolutely no problem finding a sunbed in a shadow, in the sun or whatever at any place of the ship you like, no problem in the buffet, any seat you like in the theater, getting on a tender, whatever. Everything was free and empty. I had an internal guarantee, a free upgrade to a balcony cabin in the perfect location (right near the midship elevators) made it the absolute luxury. The food was so-so for the first few days ( I guess they had groceries problem), but then after Kuala Lumpur it became quite good and was like that till the end of the cruise. Of course the entertainment is a great challenge for a cruise of that length. It was a bit monotonous, most nights were one man shows with 2-3 shows by the same person, but they chose the right people for that and it was definitely not boring. There were also four really beautiful production shows, so I'd say the entertainment was good for this type of a cruise. The animation team probably lacked great ideas a bit (nothing compares to "the Quest" by RCI:) but they tried really hard and were a highlight of the cruise. They were friends to every passenger onboard. The service on the ship was top notch, I felt like I had three personal concierges. :) (probably also because there were so few passengers onboard). I didn't use any ships' shore excursions, they were extremely overpriced as usual and I always found the same in the port at least twice cheaper. (The record was the dhow cruise in Khasab which was 86 euro per person onboard, and I found it for just 25 US dollars on the shore with an almost private dhow, just 10 people onboard! Guys, seriously, revise your excursions prices, that's just ridiculous). The second half of the cruise, as the virus hysteria progressed, was less lucky than the first, we missed two ports, Kochin and Colombo and had a trans-Indian non-stop with 7 days at sea. But Kochin was proactively replaced wirh Khasab, and Colombo was closed on a very short notice, MSC couln't do anything about it. And we still received 100 euro per cabin for the missed Colombo. And I had a wonderful time on the empty ship with a great service and my drink package :) At the end we weren't allowed into Abu Dhabi, arrvied 1 day earlier in Dubai (which they somehow persuaded to let us in, it was officially closed too) and were still able to visit Abu Dhabi by a free bus provided by MSC. Overall I had one MORE port than I booked and a 100 euro compensation. My special praise to the people who managed the routing and port admissions, they did THE IMPOSSIBLE in this situation. For other examples - we were the first and probably the last ship admitted to Saigon, Oman was a serious doubt, etc... These people really deserve a fat bonus in my opinion. Read Less

Chose this cruise for some sunshine good food and sight seeing. Long queues every where ie checking in. Reception always had a queue Boat was clean Cabin ok but cabin boy over worked and never reached our cabin till late afternoon. Food disappointing. Deserts poor compared to other companies Waiters were great Continually being asked to take drinks package even through we had, to go to speciality restaurants , shows that u had to pay more to go to and other offers not interested in. Even in restaurant being asked to go for the special which cost u more. Pools packed with no space between sun beds. Other passengers put towels on beds early morning. Although stated that would be removed if not occupied would be removed. Excursions good but very expensive. On valentine night asked to buy drinks. Overall ok but felt pestered to spend more money. Expensive to start with but continually asking to buy more. Some passengers good but a lot of rude people with no manners. Felt at times survival of the fittest. This was my first cruise with MSc and unlikely to go with them again Read Less

We chose the cruise as we were celebrating our birthday. The embarkation process went seamlessly; we were shepherded from airport to ship with no problems. There was some waiting for our rooms to become available once on the ship, however, we were roomed before the advertised at 2 pm. Suitcases also arrived in good time. We were kept well-informed re. activities and entertainment onboard through daily newsletters. Many of these, was not to our liking, but that didn't take away from the efforts being made to keep a diverse group of people entertained. I was impressed by the entertainment team's energy throughout the cruise. They made a real effort to put a smile on people's faces. There was a choice of dining style, formal and informal. Must say that I was disappointed to find passengers disregarding the dress code. There were people in hoodies and casual shorts when the night called for more formal attire; this I felt was worn out of a sense of arrogance for the dress code and those who had "made the effort". Hats off to the staff in the formal dining area, they kept their composure in the face of some cringe-worthy attitudes from dinners; e.g complaining about the quality of wine/food. it's my guess that this was just posturing meant to impress onlookers as to their sophistication and expensive taste - it had the opposite effect. The reception staff was super helpful. Even when I was being particularly dim about my wifi login I found them patient and courteous. As to be expected there was a certain amount of onboard sales, we were able to purchase some beet headphones for less than half price tax-free. The nightly theatre shows were a mix, some did not appeal to us but again I did appreciate the effort put into productions especially The Alchemist. The one disappointment for me was the general rudeness of some of the passengers. This happened too often to be a coincidence. In our experience, it was mainly the older Italian passengers who ignored you pushed pass in the corridors and spoke at the top of their voices with no regard for others around them. With regards to the excursions, we used a mixture of the hop on hop off bus and found a brilliant taxi guide in Doha that allowed us to experience memories we will treasure. We would travel with MSC again, next time we would be better prepared for the cruise bores Read Less

Yes, we know that it is a new ship, that it is large, and would probably be crowded and noisy, but we had a very enjoyable week. There was always something to do, the staff were super friendly and helpful and efficient. They also smiled! Entertainment was good. We didn’t see all of the shows, but we did see the two “Cirque” shows, and found that one was better than the other. We thought that the included cocktail was a choice from the bar list, although I suppose that would have taken too long. Instead, there was a choice of a few ready made cocktails which you collected on entering the show. The food was good, and the cabin was good. The Embarkation and Disembarkation was well organised, and went smoothly. All in all, if this cruise is anything to go by, we would cruise with MSC again. Read Less

The second item of safety we saw was one of the crew cleaning the indoor pool roof without a safety lanyard he had the harness but no lanyard to conect to the latchway system just a piece of rope if the company allows this type of behaviour of its crew then god help the passengers a total lack of health and safety. The rooms are clean but very small zoe is utterly usless The food in the buffet is of poor choice fine if you like Hot dogs and burgers every lunchtime The entertainment is very poor on the decks and the theatre Overcrowding 5500 passengers on a ship built for 3500 they have squeezed the cabins together to pack everyone in the deck space gets very congested and to be honest it becomes a bun fight for everything Food, drink loungers very little staff to take drinks orders The ship is newish but badly designed not much room to relax and get peace and quite every thing is extra too the Bowling the simulators and the cirque du solie alll extra even the in room entertainment you want to watch a film it will cost you 7 euro total rip off will never go with them again never ------ buyer beware Read Less

There was a suggestion to buy this [articular cruise and I liked the list of cities to visit, so I bought it. In overall, I enjoyed the cruise! There was a pleasant surprise - I got a cabin with a window! Cabin was always clean; it was tidied up twice a day. I read some complains about embarkation and disembarkation. My experience was different. Logistics was very good. We embarked with no problem (and disembarked), were provided with kind recommendations and attendance. Suitcases were taken directly to the cabin. Cabin was prepared earlier than expected. Yes, it is not big, but enough to have a rest and sleep at night. Even pillows were of different types (soft and "hard") to satisfy different habits. Every day there was a detailed program in English and Russian (may be in other languages too, do not now). All anouncement were in different languages as a sign of respect to passeners from different countries... Every day shows were good and very good (according to taste?). A lot of dancers, some singers and acrobats. Costumes are very bright and attractive. There were two shows a day, which was very convenient as there were two seating (dinner) at 6.30 and I guess at 9 PM. Selection of food was excellent, contained various cheese, sausages, eggs cooked in different ways, bacon, fruits, etc. Coffee and tea – as much as you wish for breakfast. I like fish and seafood and I got it: in the morning and in the evening!! Service (we mainly eat in La Bussola) was very good and pleasant; the atmosphere in La Bussola restaurant was intimate and sophisticated, the service attentive and discreet. Logistics was also excellent. The second place we had snack is on deck 11. There is an open veranda (do not remember the name- sorry for that). More democratic and people felt very relaxed over there. Those, who like desserts – it was just fantastic on the ship! You can have meal and/or snack almost the whole day…. Alcohol, beverages, cocktails. It is very expensive on board. The packages provided were unacceptable for us. “All inclusive” is 29 euro per day and you have to buy it for 11 days, full stop. Other options (beverages) were not exciting either. As for water, coffee and tea you had to pay for it during lunch and dinner. Another option – to go to deck 11 after meal. Public areas were immaculate clean. Pleasant atmosphere. Dimmed light, music…. I enjoyed it. Countries we visited: UAE, Oman, and Qatar. Excursions are quite expensive. Round 70 euro/ person – a city tour. We have taken it only in Abu Dhabi. Not really exciting. However, in Emirates and Qatar there was a choice – to go sightseeing by yourself by taxi, which is also expensive. In Qatar there were free shuttle busses to take passengers from the port to the city. Excellent idea! I Oman I felt very frustrated as we were charged 5 euro per person to get to the centre of the city, round 7-8 min drive. The bus did not even stop at the castle, which is the only one attraction in the capital (apart from the sea)! I considered it to be waist of 10 euro and time. Must be said about security. Well done. Every time you leave and return to the ship you have to go through security and that is makes you feel safe. Security officers were always polite and helpful if you had a question. Entry and exits are marked with red tape, no way to lose yourself….Moreover, every time you leave the ship a special card is given to you with tel numbers. I believe it is a good approach. Read Less

* Avoid deck 14 rooms by any means, until they are at the very nose of the ship (see cabin review) * All the packages (drinks, Internet) are hugely overpriced and I see no reason you'd like to use them as no bartender could make proper cocktail there regardless of the price. The only drinkable mix is fruit smoothie so just stick to plain drinks, especially their a la carte price is quite reasonable in compare with other cruises. Also draw attention to the wine prices at main restaurants - you take away bottles to any bar ;) Internet package - if you unlucky to buy it for any reason, draw as much attention as possible to their instruction, on how to connect it in MSC app, and follow exact procedure, shutting off everything they as to shut and disconnect from Internet every time you do not use it. * All the shows are great! Do not miss them. Do not forget to book your group to the every show in MSC app, as they allow people without reservation to enter 5 min before show start only * Dining restaurant menu is good and differs from buffet food at deck 15. Service is great, but do not hesitate kindly remind waiter if he forgot something - they have obviously a lot to do! * Market place food is great and fresh pizza is definitely on the top of the world list! * Cirque Du Soleil shows - Valeria is great! Zyma - money waste. Note that final date and time will be confirmed on board only. They do not let you choose the seats, but instead just give it away in order of booking - those who confirm the date and time earlier get closer sit to the stage. So be sure you go straight to Cirque Du Soleil desk after your embarkation and choose the show, which still has a lot of sits left. * MSC app messaging is huge mess if you have kids as they do not let anyone under 18!!! to use messages. So we had to sign our msc for me accounts on kids phones so we could message to each other. Its still not perfect solution as you can not see messages, which was sent from another device under same account, but it is better than nothing. * They have bracelets, which replicate your cruise card for just 2 Euro at reception, and this is great thing if you'd like to swap cabins with your junior, as bracelets opens the door as well. * Expenses limitation for kids in app does not work and MSC has a lot for kids to spend on. Our kids are reasonable, but there were ones, who spent hundreds and even thousands of Euro for the first day, making it surprise to their parents (of course their cruise card should be connected) * I personally prefer dark chocolate, but their milk chocolate at chocolate fabric is more tasty :). Also they make best coffee on the ship there * two days before the end of the cruise, they will get your embarkation photos delivered to your room and you need to decline buying them by signing attached paper and brining this paper to photo deck! as otherwise you'll find 35Euro for these photos at your final bill and have to spend time, deleting it. In general we had a great cruise and will obviously choose MSC for future cruises as well. Read Less

Like many other reviewers, we choose this cruise based on the itinerary. We were able to get a very good price on the cruise, which is good, because paying full price would not be worth it. The Good- Our state room (a balcony on the 12th floor) was extremely spacious. Most of the cruise staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The embarkation process was the quickest I've ever experienced, and took maybe 15 minutes. The Okay - The ship itself is just okay. It is a smaller boat, which provides little for onboard activities. The miniature golf course was really, really sad looking. The pools were adequate and the kids enjoyed the kiddie pool. The casino was the smallest I've seen on a cruise ship. If you have a good book, you'll be able to entertain yourself. The layout design of the ship is pretty horrendous though. In most of the public areas, especially the buffet, the design is very poor, which leads to bottlenecks. The excursions were just okay; most of this has more to do with the ports of call than the cruise line. The Blah - The clientele was predominately Italian and Russians, so smoking is everywhere on the top deck and in the pub. Also, there is little knowledge or respect of lines or personal space. The onboard entertainment (shows and musicians) was okay to painfully bad. Jako, an instrumental performer, was great, but unfortunately he only played in the smoking section of the pub. The Awful - The food was just as bad as most people have written. This is the first cruise I've been on that I've lost weight. The best thing on the boat was the french fries. The dinning room food was, at best, reminiscent of my grandmother's nursing home, and, at worst, inedible. The breakfast was the same every day. The pizza bar offered a special "charcoal pizza," which I'm assuming was accidentally burnt to hell and made a special. The worst thing was the seafood. The lobster, which they served in multiple varieties over the duration of the cruise, was inedible. The prawns smelled like they had been in the open for days - I couldn't even bring myself to eat them. There is only one specialty restaurant on the ship, a sushi restaurant. Based on our experience with the other seafood on board, we didn't eat at the restaurant. Overall, it was an okay cruise. We had a great time as a family and saw the ports of call that we wanted to. CHRISTMAS CRUISE Abu Dhabi (22-12-2019 until 29-12-2019) Everything started with the wrong foot (Family travel - Party of 11 originally, but only 9 arrived because my mother had an emergency surgery and stayed with my father) So the first thing we did before embarkation, we presented all the medical certifications, and we didn´t get the refund of the stateroom, but thay didn´t also give us the stateroom which was paid to use it, they wasted 2 days saying that they had no response from the land office and in that time the cabin was occupied by other people. Finally by our insistance, we gt the cabin 2 days later but nobody refunded those days wasted. When you buy a drinking package, they force you to buy the same for all the cabin, even though they don´t drink whatever you are planning to drink, so in my case with me, my wife and my 2 children i had to spend 500 euros only to drink sodas. Ridiculous. And even if you buy it if one of the children want ice cream you have to pay it... When in other cruise lines IT IS ALWAYS COMPLIMENTARY. Everything is a struggle and the place most visited is guest services, which is unpleasant and always treat you as a thief and always trying to take advantage of everything and never listening to the customer. Every service that the cruise offers, such as bowling, F1 simulator, VR, etc, THEY ARE ALL EXTRA, in other cruises almost all of them are complimentary and again with all this Italian pirate line, it´s a disaster About shore excursions is a mess, we had one handiccapped passenger in our group and they treated her like if she was cattle, never helping and without providing any service (By the way they got off the cruise 2 days early for this whole nightmare) The disco is next to the kids club, so by the adults only time, you can see a lot of teenagers under 18 that are also drinking alcohol without any control or security, congratulations again to the mastermind of the ship During the cruise they charge you a fee per person per week without notice and also when you complain, they don´t remove it unless you ask them to (70 euros per person per week) so is a bunch of money per cabin and also forcing you without asking. Even if you paid all the services and gratuitites in advance as we did. The payment is another issue, the currency exchange from euros to usd they just steal 5% in exchange difference, and also the payments go through a machine, which is a mess, and if there is a bill that the machine doen´t take it, nobiody in the ship helps you or exchanges you the bill. They don´t even do transactions out of the machine. And they call it smart ship... We had a nightmare and a hell of a week, so if you are planning to take this cruise, forget it, go with another cruie line which will be much better Read Less

My first cruise. Ship new, but problems with touch screens in public areas. Some time you must 5 or more time touch before react. Service in rooms excellent. The buffet is very, very good and the food very tasty. The food in restaurants is good, but most are nothing special. The last days we eat only in the buffet. Entertainment very good. On the last day of the cruise we wanted to buy our pictures. On board payment system card could not found our pictures. The printed picture was already destroyed. The employee could only say sorry. When we ask for the final bill. The staff added a small donation to the bill, msc fondation, without asking us. We asked to be taken out of the bill. An employee in the best Communist Bolshevik tradition gave an A4 page to explain why we don't want to donate. Bravo MSC Bellissima, this is something new! Read Less

We booked as a last-minute vacation for myself, niece and nephew, who has never cruised before. They wanted the location and itinerary. While booking, we realized we must pay for travel insurance for 3 when we wanted for 2 cruisers only. Our cabin was selected for us! Then, upon embarkation, only 2 wanted the beverage package, but we HAD to pay for 3 ( all members in the cabin), which was in excess of $300 for someone who absolutely did not want and used the package!!!!! On the online itinerary, we did not understand that there will be tours for Dubai, as they were not listed. We also did not know disembarkation could have been done until 2 days after docking! Then 2 days before boarding the MSC Bellissima site was closed. We could not reach anyone! Even though we paid for the beverage package, we could not use any drinks in the mini bar in the room without incurring a charge. Toiletries were limited to wall-mounted pre-filled dispenser. The Medical Office is closed at certain times. If the Doctor has to come out, it will be a charge of $160 euros! With so many persons on board, should this vital department be closed? The shows presented were too short. (30 minutes) Now, the staff were all courteous, helpful and knowledgable!!! Everyone were approachable. Our dining room staff were very intuitive and assisted with our selections. We loved the music played by the staff for the Birthday wishes! The ship was nicely decorated for the holidays! Love the public areas. The shore excursions were well planned and informative. Loved them. Read Less

The main reason we chose to go on this particular cruise was to go somewhere we'd never been before on a new ship. This trip was booked in October 2018 with Tour America..At the time we were told that flights would be allocated at a later date. This later proved to be a huge mistake. We were only informed of our flight times four weeks prior to departure, The aforementioned travel agency then informed us that the cruise ship company booked all the flights and travel arrangements. This meant that we had to disembark at three am on the last day of our cruise for a 07.10 flight rather than a flight at 14.00 that I would have booked if we had have been left tour own devices. Our on -board experience was largely positive with a few exceptions. The dining experience package that is offered proved to be a huge disappointment. Even after paying extra you are allowed order off a limited menu. The food in the Tapas was sub standard to say the least, The limited fare on the menu in The Butcher cut was however nice though you still could only order one side with everything else charged as extras. The menu on offer in the French restaurant was terrible .The main difference were the waiters who made the whole experience an extremely pleasant. The excursions however are a totally different matter. On the whole they are far too expensive for what's on offer. The trip to the Ritz Carlton was a huge disappointment. You are brought in through what can only be described as the service entrance.. Then you are shown to the beach. You can however use the pool and jacuzzi as well as have lunch far away from their normal guests. The whole trip lasts 6 hours including transfers at a cost of 128 euros each. Extremely expensive way of being treated like a second class citizen. The entertainment was very poor with an extreme Italian bias. The Barmen in every bar were slow and wouldn't survive 10 minutes in a Dublin pub. we put the 22 DEC for travelling because the 20 option was not there. Read Less

Too big, too many people and badly organized. From the moment you have your cruise card in the terminal you are pestered to buy this package and that package. The ship is stunning but the staff need more training in all areas. The cabin was very nice with a balcony, when we arrived at 1pm there was no toilet rolls, no TV remote and a smell from the bathroom. They do not supply tissues or any other nice things in the toilet. The steward was useless, he asked at 6pm was everything ok. At 9pm we were still waiting for our suitcases. I happened to look along the corridor and seen a guy pushing his own case along into his room. We went along to the lift area and the cases were in metal cages with only 2 guys to sort them out. We managed to retrieve our cases, my god on holiday and having to look for your own cases. We missed the restaurant as we didn't feel it appropriate to go with shorts on. Ate in the cattle market (sorry the Marketplace) what a disaster this place is a complete rabble and impossible to hear yourself speak. Hard pushed to get a table. The meals in the Light house restaurant very mediocre, no glass of water here you have to buy a bottle. No tea or coffee after your meal. The week didn't get any better we will not cruise again with MSC they are very unorganized and some of the staff quite rude. Read Less

I choose this cruise as it was a large group booking. The ship was absolutely beautiful, the attention to detail in the construction and decor was apparent throughout. There are so many areas to take pictures. This is where the beauty ended. This was my first time cruising with MSC and I will never cruise with them again. The level of customer service was horrific. First thing you should know is that everything is based on your package and not your room. I paid for an ocean view and my friends paid for a balcony. because we opted for the Bella package we received what I called sub service. My room was an obstructed view, some of my group who actually paid less for an interior were upgraded to better rooms than myself because they had the Fantasica package, How does that make sense? I honestly felt that MSC nickled and dimed us for everything. Shows, Food, and Excursions. They weren't honest in their operations. MSC if you read this please note that customer service is very important. Your staff were ill equipted to deal with complaints nor did they assist clients with compliatns ....which were many. I witnessed several unsatisfied clients. Normally. I struggle to offset the weight gain during a cruise. Not this time. I actuallly lost weight during my cruise. The food choices were so poor that I concluded that they were trying to drive us to the paid options. The ports were great with the exception of Sir Bani which we didn't visit due to rough seas. i also question that as I didn't witness any issues. I was told by another cruiser that this might be the norm.. MSC? is there something we should know?... So points for a lovely ship. but negative for food, post booking charges, customer service, room assignment and overall honesty. 7 euro for ice cream . Really??? Oh did I miss overall staff friendlyness. with the exception of my steward .. did anyone say hello? Read Less

BUT, the service was really bad all over the ship, food was average at best and constant pushing the extras, for example photo sessions was really annoying. Cabin 14075 with balcony was small but funtional with 2 children, no sun in the balcony though. Service in the cabin was poor as well, towel problems, no hair contioning or other aminities or nice extras - very plain in the Aurea class as well. Spa massage was very professional and nice, hair dresser too. Shore excursion was ok, we did the Abu Dhabi safari tour. Everything nice was with extra cost, like kids VR adventures or Formula 1 and they weren’t worth the money - 10€ per 5 minutes. Pool areas were quite nice, kids playrooms as well, entertainment we didn’t see as we went to bed quite early. We can’t recommend the ship. Read Less

We made the Eastern fairy tale cruise on the MSC Bellissima liner from 30.11.2019 to 07.12.2019 on the route United Arab Emirates - Oman in cabin # 12109. First of all, I would like to thank MSC Cruises from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to get an excellent external cabin with a Fantastica balcony under the Fortuna program. The rest of the cruise is thought out perfectly-from the first minute at the entrance to the last when parting with the liner. The entire staff performs their duties flawlessly, with a smile and attention. Thank you to the staff of the Lighthouse restaurant (table 472) for their excellent cuisine, and to the waiters for their prompt and courteous service. The buffet at the Marketplace Buffet restaurant is impeccable in terms of the menu, the quality of the food prepared, the abundance of fruits, pastries, sweets, and drinks. We would like to thank all the animators, especially those who work on the open deck # 15. Evening rest is full of variety. Theatrical shows are staged and performed at a high professional level. I would like to mention the voices of the performers, and especially the dance group for their incendiary skill and artistic choreography of the numbers. When we visited the Bellissima Lounge bar, we were happy to listen and dance to the tunes of the Aquarium Party Band. But I especially want to thank the musicians of the Latin Summer band, who performed every night at TV Studios&Bar. We are fans of Spanish-language music . The Latin Summer ensemble conveys the unique flavor of Latin American performance culture with its compositions. Special thanks to the organizers of the holiday on the Sir Bani Yas island . A big surprise was the perfectly organized food on the island. The Eastern fairy tale cruise with its name perfectly reflects the feeling of uniqueness of fairy-tale emotions from being on the MSC Bellissima liner . Read Less

This cruise was a retirement present to myself. After an awesome 6 days Rome/Venice stay, downer came with the horrible MSC Lirica experience. From the awful, unwelcoming embarking to disembarking this cruise line administration was nothing but a heartache. No proper accommodations were made for unexpected port change: had to maneuver long lines, ordered from room to room before being hoarded on two hours bus ride without even the courtesy of a glass of water. More chaos continued at the Trieste Port. Luggage subsequently misplaced. Eventually located late night after personally making multiple trips/inquiries. Basically, co-passengers and port itinerary were awesome. Food: same old same ole. I was too happy to purchase flavourful meals onshore by week two. Entrainment: elementary. No effort really put into it. My room sometimes smelled like sewer which made me nauseous. To my objection, chemical was used to correct the situation. Hard-working floors staff/stewards awesome, however, getting response from the front desk staff was HORRIBLE; don’t waste your precious time and energy to to take anything to their attention. Administration took NO RESPONSIBILITY/ACCOUNTABLE for anything. They all parroted a million different suggestions accompanied with rude sarcastic flavour with the result always the same in the end; you must be doing something wrong. Get this, I was blocked/denied getting bottle water during dining because they had the nerve to withdraw 200€ service charge from my on-board account with 12 days left to go on my trip because, I assumed they thought my account would run out before they got/grabbed their tip. SHAMEFUL AND HURTFUL INDEED After spending your hard earned money, once MSC gets it, you are chopped liver thereafter. PITY☹️☹️☹️ Read Less

We chose this 20 night cruise from Venice to Dubai because of the itinerary-- we had always wanted to go to Venice, and seeing Petra has long been on our bucket list. We booked two balcony rooms through where we were told that if we saw the cruise at a lower price at any time more than 90 days before our cruise, they would match the price. At approx. 93 days out I found the same cruise at a much lower price but more importantly the suite price was now lower than the balcony price we had paid and included the alcohol package, a spa package and a few other perks. One call and we not only were upgraded to the suite category, we received a substantial refund. We arrived in Venice Nov. 15 to find that there were very few tourists because of all the news about the flooding. Although there were a few puddles around and there were remains of damage done to hotels right on the canals, we did not encounter any problems due to excess water. Instead, we had a wonderful time exploring this amazing city with fabulous shops and restaurants. We stayed 3 days but could have used more time. Our embarkation on to the Lirica was smooth and easy and our rooms were ready when we arrived with our cards ready for our use. We are seasoned cruisers having been on more than 10 cruises with Carnival, Norwegian and Celebrity cruise lines. This was our first with MSC and I was a bit nervous having read the reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. I think I would best describe the MSC cruise as a "no frills" cruise where all the basics were there but some of the extras were missing. If you are picky picky picky and have to have the very best of everything then MSC might not be for you. We are pretty easy going and as long as the rooms are clean and comfortable and the food and entertainment is adequate we are happy travelers. There were no fancy towel animals on the beds or chocolates on the pillows at night but the rooms were clean and comfortable. Room service was not free-- there was a minimal charge per item ordered and a small delivery charge so we did not use it. The room was somewhat worn with a few cracks in the sink etc. but every thing was fully functional and did not affect our stay at all. The food was very very good, but where you might have 5 appetizer choices and 10 entrée choices on other ships, on the MSC ship you would have 3 appetizer choices and 5 entrée choices. Having said that there was always something appealing and the food and service was excellent--no complaints from us. The price for this cruise was so reasonable that we did not expect the perfection that might come with a very expensive price tag. Where the ship did excel in our opinion was with the entertainment staff-- they were wonderful. We had 4 days on the ship with no ports and were kept busy the whole time with trivia contests, dance lessons, games etc. The shows were OK, but having a ventriloquist having to translate into 7 languages kind of lost the humor by the end. The dance and singing shows were excellent. The activities crew had so much energy-- they were up dancing with everyone, they were so friendly and they made the trip so much fun. We really enjoyed the band that played in the bar at night-- I believe they were called the Midnight Project They were sensational and had everyone either dancing or clapping to the music. We are not young but we stayed up and closed the bar listening to them several nights. I would buy an album featuring them they were that good. The activities and bars were better than any we have experienced on any other ship. Our only complaint was that all announcements had to be made in 6 different languages-- and there were lots of announcements. The shows were usually quite good-- as good as on any ship-- with a few exceptions. One night featured a ventriloquist which sounded good but when everything had to be translated into 6 different languages the jokes fell somewhat flat. It was different though The ports were for the most part excellent. We usually do not book excursions through the ship simply because we find the numbers mean you are waiting forever for the slowpokes to get back to the bus. We loved Greece-- especially Athens. I had always wanted to see the Acropolis and it was impressive. There were lots of excursion options and we were able to find one that did not require us climbing right up to the Parthenon-- instead we were provided with great photo opportunities and got to see everything we wanted to see. Going through the Suez canal was very interesting. We were somewhat delayed so ended up travelling through during the day instead of at night. It is like a whole other world beyond the canal-- it was like travelling back in time. We booked a smaller tour to Petra and it was great. Petra did not disappoint and is truly one of the great wonders of the world. We were lucky that it was not too crowded when we were there and the weather cooperated so that it was not too hot. Our guides were amazing and there were lots of opportunities to buy things in the local stores. We did take advantage of a couple of hop-on-hop off buses and they allowed us to see most of the ports at a reasonable price. The only problem we had was in Oman where the hop-on-hop off bus was booked through the ship with the promise that they would pick us up on the dock and take us back. They did pick us up, however when it began to rain heavily the driver refused to go back to the ship and dropped us off in the market (which by the way was fabulous) We then had to walk (drenched to the skin) back to the ship (about a 1/2 hour walk through water and mud) and were not impressed. We complained and got our money back. Oman was interesting as we got to watch the smugglers come in from Iran loaded with sheep and leave loaded with electronics-- all under the watchful eye of the port police. They waved at us wearing masks and carrying machine guns. It was quite the show! Dubai was sensational-- we walked for miles in the huge malls and even enjoyed a Tim Horton's coffee while watching the water show. All over Europe we had trouble finding anywhere that served cream with coffee-- only milk was available-- so we really enjoyed our "Timmy's" that tasted just like home. It was fun to look at all of the designer stores and the corresponding price tags. We did not go into the 7* hotel as you are not allowed in unless you are a registered guest or have a reservation in the restaurant. We thought we might go there for breakfast until we found out that the cost was $129 pp for brunch. It was an amazing trip-- we saw the poorest of the poor and the richest of the rich. We saw ancient monuments followed by 7 star modern hotels. We saw fabulous yachts along with masked smugglers racing in small boats We absolutely enjoyed everything. The days flew by and before we knew it we were in Dubai and the trip was over. I must admit that having read other reviews before we left, I was not expecting much of this ship but we were pleasantly surprised. I think some people are way to picky and all in all we had very few complaints and the price was certainly right. We liked MSC so much we are in the process of booking another cruise with them for next fall and are taking friends and family along with us. Read Less

My husband and I have been travelling for over 30 years and this was the worst holiday we have ever had. The Staff and crew are disorganised and poorly trained in there jobs. They have no customer service skills at all. Most looked like they didn't want to be in the job and were reluctant to talk or smile and it came across as they were only there to get paid and tour the world. Not at all helpful in any way. From the time we arrived at the port with the embarkation disorganisation we hoped it would improve but sadly it got worse. When we finally got on the ship no one was there to tell us where our cabin was and we had difficulty finding it. When we made it to the room we were impressed by the cabin. It was clean and spacious. We requested early dining and even on our documentation we printed out before we left home it stated early dining at 5.30 pm ...only to find when we arrived we had been allocated 7.45 dining. We went to the restaurant and requested to change and was told there were no vacancies yet other members of our party were given the earlier time..no questioned asked. We were surprised that you had to pay for still water in dining rooms...Never had this before..surely for customer relations MSC could afford a glass of water with meals. On three occasions in the dining room the meal was not edible but if we went to buffet they closed at 8.30 and all that was available was pizza. My husband asked for french fries the second night of the cruise and every night he received fries no other vegetables even though we said no fries. Then they started giving me fries as well which I said no too but received them anyway.. Our cabin was cleaned daily, the bed made and bins emptied but the lid of the bin was dirty with spilt soft drink when we arrived and was still spotty on day 17 so not cleaned at all. Our balcony was only cleaned once during whole ship balcony cleaning. On other occasions the top decks were being cleaned and water was cascading down onto our balcony so we had to close the doors and stay inside. We were charged movie fees for movies which we didn't use and when we went to guest services and said we didn't use this facility and the girl , who was very rude, said we must have. We said we flicked through the titles but she insisted that we had confirmed the movies. WE know we didn't and then after much discussion she said she would delete it but next time we would have to pay no matter what...So we turned the TV off and didn't use it again. As for Zoe that was a complete waste of time. Very limited responses. There were no tissues available in the cabins which surprised us as with the amount of clients that had coughs and colds on board. The buffet was a nightmare there was no hygiene at the doors and people were coming in from toilets etc to food.unacceptable...The Europeans on board were terrible for picking up food with their fingers from the buffet and putting it on their plates then returning it to the buffet if they saw something they liked better further along the line. There was no one available to monitor the buffet lines. The buffet closed at 8-8.30 each night which was crazy considering there were over 4500 passengers on board..Surely it can be left open to say 10.00pm. The entertainment was average and it is the first time we have ever had to book and pay for the entertainment. On sea days there was nothing to do unlike other lines. The pool deck staff spoke in Spanish or Italian all the time and for us english only speaking we had no idea what was going on. MSC Tours...What can we say...very expensive for what was provided. Our introduction to Dubai tour was a shambles. We had a bus trip through some very ordinary streets ,Museum with about 500 people crammed into a confined space, a mosque which we were informed we couldn't go inside as MSC didn't have enough time to organise that component then a quick trip back to the ship. a 4-4.30 hour tour with us leaving the port at 3.30 and returning before 7 pm. We lined up at shore excursions for over 30 mins to complain and didnt get served so cut our losses and left. Others in our group got the hop on hop off bus outside the port and had all day for less cost. So make sure you check costs of outside tours before booking with MSC...most if not all ports had taxis and mini buses etc. Prices for all were about half the cost of MSC. The day before we left the ship I had Euros which I hadn't spent and went to guest services to pay off our account. At NO Time was I told that the account would be closed. The staff on the disembarking station were rude as well every time we left the ship and came back we were met with a very gruff grab of the card (snatching) and he would throw it back at us...it became a joke between the passengers as to how hard he could snatch and throw the cruise card at us......not good.... On leaving the ship on the 30th we got to the exit and my card brought up a RED screen and the person said I couldn't leave the ship until I had paid the Account...I was very embarrassed as he said it so loud and every one in the line heard but he didn't say that only 12.25 Euros that was owed. WE had signed a pre authorization form in our check in and assumed that this covered any balance owing when we left the ship..NO ...So we had to go back to guest services to pay the balance. We waited over 1/2 hour to be served( with all the new passengers the queues were very long)..We were served by a young boy who spoke very little english and had no idea and kept saying as we were new passengers we had to authorise our credit card. After getting very impatient trying to explain we were leaving the ship and had a pre authoration for our credit card to be debited with the balance owing...I asked to speak to someone else and then waited another 17 mins until someone else came. we were told that because we paid some of the balance in cash it had cancelled the pre authorisation. Why bother with pre authorisation if it doesn't work. I was told to pay balance but they wouldn't take Australian or American dollars which was all i had. After waiting more time finally someone in the office saw some sense and pressed a button and reactivated the pre authorisation of my credit card. We were told that we should have been told that this scenario would happen...again lack of staff training and customer service skills.Needless to say we missed our transfer and had extra costs with taxis etc... I am sure that there will be lots of negative feedback from this cruise as every one we spoke to had numerous complaints ..there was no atmosphere on board, the staff unhappy and rude, the MSC line was out to money grab on every opportunity available... All in all a horrible cruise and very disappointing as we were looking forward to it so much.. I would have like and expect MSC to compensate us for having to deal with all the problems we encountered but we will NOT hear from MSC again...They have our money..and don't care As for recommending MSC to our friends NO...we will be telling them the truth....For one bad experience the customer will tell ten people ...I will be telling my network which is extensive...through facebook , trip advisor and cruise critic as well a letter will be forwarded to MSC head office. We will not be cruising with MSC again... MSC NOT FOR ME Read Less
