We have just today returned from a 7 day cruise on the MSC Preziosa. We are not cruise gurus, this is the first cruise we have ever taken, but I can see many more to come. All I can say was this cruise was the best holiday my husband and I have ever had. We have travelled a fair deal of the world using many different modes but this was just outstanding. I did read a lot of reviews prior to travelling on the ship and some were good but for me there were too many bad reviews so I was very sceptical and went with a very big hope that they were from people that's expectations may have been too high. I am not sure what they were expecting but I found not one single complaint about the ship, not one!
The ship itself is amazing, it is clean and fresh and enormous. Every part of the ship that we went into was spotless and so well cared for. I never saw a piece of rubbish or a dirty patch on a wall or floor or anywhere. All the toilets throughout the whole ship were immaculately clean and looked brand new. Our cabin was a balcony cabin towards the front of the ship on the 11th floor and it was just like any upmarket hotel room, it was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Our room attendant came to our room twice a day, he cleaned it and replaced our towels. He was a very friendly man whose mother language was not English but he conversed with us on every occasion in English and was smiling on every occasion I saw him.
All the staff on the ship were amazingly kind and friendly. From the first moment we arrived at the port for departure they were extremely helpful and made the process as easy as possible. We were a little lucky we boarded the ship at Izmir where there were few people getting on and so the process was very quick. English speaking people are a minority on the cruise but all announcements were generally given in about 6 languages and English was either first or second so there were no language issues and all the staff were able to speak sufficient English to help you.
The entertainment was amazing from the live shows at night which were spectacular to the on board entertainment around the pool and then the bars and lounges and the list goes on. My husband and I used the Gym everyday and the inside and outside pools and spas. We were always able to find a deck chair to enjoy the sun or a table and chairs around the pool. Yes the boat takes well over 4000 passengers and I am sure that it must have been close to capacity but you just have to look or ask and the staff will help you. when the deck chairs were all full on one occasion we asked a pool attendant and he pulled out more chairs that were available. We also used the sauna and steam room area and it was so relaxing.
Now for the food, what can I say but WOW. there is so much food and so much variety you will not starve nor miss out. the buffet is enormous and I read a complaint that you have to walk a mile to get you food, not true. there are two sides to the buffet and they both offer the same. just choose one side walk along, get what you want and sit down. But if you don't want to do this go to the restaurant that is also open for breakfast and lunch. Dinner in the restaurant is also very good with plenty of variety. we also ate and two of the other restaurants on board, the Galaxy and Eataly both are at additional cost but the food was amazing and worth the additional cost. The staff at all of these locations were brilliant especially in the buffet as they are very busy with people in the peek times but these staff keep the tables cleared away and the restaurant cleaned very quickly.
All up all I can say is if you get the chance to go on this cruise go for it, you will not regret it. It was amazing. I will be travelling with MSC again definitely
