We choose different destination from previous years, te cruise was lovely despite the harvoc we are going through in the world one thing that was so so horrible is that I booked 2 cabins and to be placed at 14007 another ar 12019 when later the next day after having requested that we are placed in the same floor then the is a cabin available when we have already unpacked-now that was not nice at all at all..food was lovely, but this time is was not so clean, the lifts were forever dirty, finger prints on mirrors on the rails etc....rooms were made but not as neat as with Musica - staff not so friendly especially on the last days you could swear that they were frustrated, didnt portray full willingness except for the ones that working at the dining rooms - it felt as if the customer care downgraded a bit - please, at reception woow you just do not find any friendliness just people with a straight face no friendliness at all - please do encourage your staff as much as possible because we takr these trips for relaxing, to be away from all the stress-either than that all went well.thank you Read Less

My wife and I have traveled throughout Europe, South America and the Caribbean and have experienced some of the finest cruises available throughout the world. The cruise we just completed was a tremendous disappointment. Here are our thoughts: * The ship itself was absolutely beautiful. Very nicely furnished, spacious room (we had a cabin with a balcony). But the flow was a nightmare. Like most cruises we've been on, it takes a good week to really get to know your way around. We left still feeling confused on how to get from one spot to another because of the stairway/elevator system. Some got you to some floors and not others. Only one deck (7) allowed you to traverse the entire deck. Others we chopped up and you had to know what stairway to take to get to another spot on another floor. * The food was mediocre at best. The dining room menus were very limited and the food was OK. Nothing spectacular. The buffet on the 14th deck was absolutely atrocious. The same thing day after day. And there was something really strange about how they wet out the food. e.g., At at the salad buffet they started out the with salad dressing, then the chopped up lettuce that always lacked the appearance of freshness, then the toppings followed. Huh? ^ They don't know how to move people. From the time we arrived until the time we left, the lines were terribly long. So expect long waits, especially upon arrival, the buffet lines and disembarkation. * I don't know about the other reviews and question the authenticity of them because we were not alone in our assessment of the cruise as we spoke with other people who were onboard with us. We booked with Holistic Holidays at Sea for their annual vegan cruise. We were keen to see the speakers they were featuring. One of them we were looking forward to just didn't show up yet a substitute was provided. Regardless, we were disappointed that Chef AJ didn't make it. The embarkation was a nightmare. At least an hour long wait in line to get thru the security scanners. Some of that time was time that no scanning was happening. We found out why after we passed the checkpoint and went upstairs to check in. There was another huge line and another hour wait to get to an agent. There was no place for anyone to sit if they had knee or back issues. Disembarkation went well until we got off the ship when we had transfers to the airport. The buses were not there yet. Another hour wait standing in the cold until the bus arrived. Once the bags were loaded and passengers boarded we got to the airport in a timely manner. Due to this being a theme cruise for vegans there were approximately 2,000 vegan passengers. They offered only a single seating in the Black Crab dining room. The lines to get in there was very long also. We decided to eat all our meals in the buffet. The food choices were varied with some repeats but the vegan options were often far too salty and/or too oily. There were big lines for the buffet (on the vegan side). By the time you got to your seat your food was cold. Our cabin was decent as was our room attendant (Percy). We had D9114 which was a balcony cabin. This cabin is a connecting cabin with D9112. We could easily here conversations in the next cabin thru the door. We could also see light from their cabin under the door. Because of the above things we didn't like we won't be booking another MSC cruise nor one with Holistic Holidays at Sea. Read Less

My husband found this cruise on Travelocity at a very good price. We have been on 13 cruises but never with MSC. At such a great price, we thought we would give it a try. Boarding the ship in Miami was a breeze. Embarkation was swift and orderly even though the staff wasn't exactly the friendliest. This should have been our first sign of things to come. Once on board, we noted how dated and in need of repair the ship was. My 8 year old son pointed out loose tiles in the shower and that the air in our cabin wasn't working very well... my 8 year old who never notices anything. I don't mean to be petty, but I am going to be petty here... Every other cruise line we have been on, we would get a towel animal and a little chocolate left on our pillow at night. Not on this ship. Our room steward was attentive and kept our cabin clean, but we missed the little "above and beyond" measures that we had come to expect as the normal standard through other cruise lines. The dining hall our first evening was a complete disappointment. It felt as if it was their very first time doing anything! Toward the end of our meal, the head waiter for our area made to over to introduce himself and it was a complete game changer. From that moment on, he made a point to seek us out for each meal. He guided our wait staff in making certain our drinks were kept filled and our food made it to us hot and delicious. The entertainment crew on the MSC Armonia was the absolute best we have ever seen on any cruise we have been on. I am not sure how many hours they put in on their performances but you can tell they work hard to perfect their routines. Each night before they would go on, the ship's cruise director and his team would warm up the crowd with giveaways and hilarious antics. I do not know what these staff members get paid but it is not nearly enough! Everything else just seemed way too crowded to enjoy. Our first port of call was Jamaica. We had to tender to shore. You had to stand in line to get a ticket to take the tender to shore. They passed out tickets through number 25 or 26. My family and I were able to make it to shore on the number 9 tender. I have heard conflicting stories about what number they stopped calling tenders at, but what can be said is that not every passenger was able to get off of the boat that day and experience Jamaica. It was not a good day. I think if they had run out of rum on board, there might have been a mutiny. Grand Cayman was, well, Grand Cayman. overpriced, hot, and busy. Costa Maya was very nice once we left the port and hired a taxi outside of the port gates to take us to Chacchoben for the day. Very nice and relaxing... and about half the price the cruise line wanted for the same tour. The day spent at Ocean Cay is a nice day if you enjoy swimming and the beach. I do not. My husband and children LOVED it. They love sun, sand, and water. Me, not so much. Would I ever sail on this ship again? No. Would I ever sail MSC again? I am not sure. I will be doing much more research and reading reviews before booking my next cruise. Read Less

I was prepared to have not-so-good experience after reading reviews and because we had tight budget and it's impossible to return the tickets so I flight to Miami with heavy heart, especially when i was a planner for our family trip. But luckily, the trip went smooth, we had so many good memories, the cruise experience was way beyond my expectation. First of all, I'm not experienced cruise traveller, this is my 2nd time. The first time was with Carnival Cruise. It was fun but the ship was soooo crowded and people were drunk from day to nights, It's forever to wait for table at restaurant, buffets are not better when people forget the definition of "line". 2nd time with MSC Divina, I think we're less clueless and well-prepared this time, so we can enjoy every moments on the cruise, adding the fact the staffs on cruise are well - organizing and friendly. I heard many ppl complain abt the cold-face busters and housekeepers, as a ppl working in service industry, I understand how hard those guys have to work, especially on cruise, roughly around 11 works/ 7 days a week can't make you smile and hospitalized all-the-time. But every time I pass by and say hello to them, they warmly say back to us. After all, machines still have bugs, people can't be perfect all the time. I wish ppl less being rude. Aside from ppl, experience with foods , shows , casino, and excursions are quite well. The shows are enough entertaining. Casino is small but we had lots of funs there so it's ok. Foods are the another thing that receive so many complains but I don't understand why. The kinds and tastes are way more than ok. Most of dishes in the buffet side are repetitive but they have " daily special" counters and we always find something we want. Fine-dine is also good, yes , the food is not gourmet, it looks "gourmet", but even it's not gourmet, it's still good-taste. Fine-dine menu changes everyday and fit the theme of destination, so we always have something new. We booked only 1 excursion because we do have some bookings by ourself before the trip and that only one total satisfied us, from their well- management to their choice of affiliate service. If anything would be improve, i wish the docking time is longer, we only have 5-8 hours at each destination. Maybe they have lots of negative comments about late arrival and long disembarking time so they shorten the docking time and lengthen the sailing time? Idk. We always arrive destination earlier than expected time. maybe we were so lucky. Read Less

Please note that English is not my native tongue so excuse me any grammar or syntax error. We booked this cruise (7 nights, 8 days Caribbean) in february 2019, in Uruguay, South America, through a travel agency, with a MSC "early booking" offer. We were 28 travelers with ages ranging from 8 to 73 years old (9 families, 9 cabins). I was the "project leader" of this trip :) What we paid: Bella Balcony 2 adults and 2 teenagers (15 and 18): US$ 2.618 Bella Balcony 3 adults and a child (8): US$ 2.443,oo Bella Balcony 3 adults and a teenager (15): US$ 2.917,oo Bella inside 3 adults and a child: US$ 2.197,oo Bella Balcony 2 adults: US$ 2.268,oo Bella inside 2 adults: US$ 1.548,oo The "early booking" offer was valid until april 2019, then the prices went up for about a 15%. We booked paying only 25% of the fare and we made the final payment about 45 days before sailing date (saturday january 18). After the final payment the travel agency sent us the cruise boarding tickets. Of 28 tickets, 18 came with mistakes regarding citizenship countries, date of birth, emergency contact or gender (hey, MSC employee, ¡wear your glasses man!). So, first advice: read, check and re-check EVERYTHING you receive from the travel agency. There were a couple of tickets that they had to send them to me 2 or 3 times, because when they fixed something, other error magically appeared. Along with the cruise tickets you get one luggage ID label per passenger for you to print and attach to the bag (or bags) you want to check-in. Important: if you are traveling with a group, and want to have dinner all together, please ask your agent to link all the reservations and choose the same dinner time (late dinner time for us, there are 3 dinner times: 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.). I do not know why, but if you book your cruise with a travel agency, you cannot do the cruise web check-in in MSC web page (but you don't need to). Just print the cruise tickets your travel agent sent you. The cruise was scheduled to sail a 7 p.m. on saturday january 18; and the printed boarding time in our tickets was 3 p.m. We got to terminal F of Miami Cruise Port around 12:30. There is a bus parking drop-off zone in front of this terminal and the luggage handlers are waiting for your tagged bags in order to take them to the ship. Have one dollar ready for each bag for tipping the luggage handler. Say goodbye to your bags, they will be waiting for you when you arrive to your cabin (or not, sometimes you have to wait until one or two hours after sailing before the luggage shows up. Once you enter the terminal F building, have your id (or passport) and cruise boarding pass ready to clear security. One family traveling with us forgot to bring the printed boarding passes but they showed the security agent the mail they got from our travel agent with the attached boarding passes and voila!, no problem at all. Once you clear security you have to go to the second floor in order to check-in with an MSC agent that takes your picture and gives you the cruise card that you will be using for opening your cabin door, paying all cruise expenses and disembark and embark after visiting Jamica, Cayman Island, Cozumel and MSC Ocean Cay island. In this card you also have the dinner restaurant that was assigned to you (there are three) and dinner time. Then you can enter the ship (no matter the "boarding time" that is printed in your ticket). All this process (since you left your checked-in luggage, clear security, checking-in with MSC agent, took us about 45 minutes). Around 1.15 pm we all were on the ship and... ¡oh boy! it's fantastic, gorgeous, luxurios, a dream come true (you can see that we are entering the land of personal opinions now...) Once you enter the ship some officers and MSC employees welcome you and you can immediately go to the buffet in order to eat. The view of Miami from the buffet area is breathtaking and the food is excellent: pizza, pasta, ethnic food, mediterranean cuisine, asiatic food, fast food (pizza, burgers, hot-dogs), soups, all kind of fruits, desserts, no sugar pastries, ice-cream (only in the buffet at floor 8) etc. I have read reviews about the "repetitive food". Hey man, let me tell you something: YOU are the one who pick the food... pick wisely!!! :) Seriously, I have been in many 5 stars hotels around the globe and I can truly tell you that the flavor, variety and presentation of food in breakfast, lunch or dinner is superlative!!! No issues with food here. Period. DRINKS PACKAGES Well, MSC does not have drink packages by the quantity as COSTA does. I mean, in Costa Cruises you can buy a package of 40 soft-drinks and water, this is not the case in MSC. In MSC you only have "unlimited" drink packages that everyone sharing the cabin with you must buy. "Easy Package": US$ 35 /day/passenger Unlimited consumption of drinks up to US$ 6 value (includes soft-drinks, juices, beer, hot chocolate, expressos, bottled water, wine by the cup) "Premium Package": US$ 62 /day/passenger Unlimited consumption of drinks up to US$ 12 value (includes soft-drinks, juices, beer, liquors, hot chocolate, expressos, bottled water, wine by the bottle, white wine, champagne) "Premium Plus": US$ 79 /day/passenger Unlimited consumption of any drinks (includes soft-drinks, juices, beer, liquors, hot chocolate, expressos, bottled water, wine by the bottle, white wine, champagne) including the drinks in your cabin mini-bar. “No alcohol adults”: US$ 29 /day/passenger "No alcohol kids": US$ 17 /day/passenger Example: You like to drink two or three beers a day, your wife does not drink alcohol, and you travel with 2 kids. For you and your wife you have to buy the EASY package, and for your kids the "No alcohol kids" for both of them. Total for a week: US$ 728,oo. I know. Now the good news: the buffet is open 20 hours a day (from 6 am to 2 am) and you ALWAYS have the cold/hot water, and juices dispensers working. You also have coffe, assorted tea and the following fruit juices: orange, lemmon, grapefruit, strawberry, pineapple, cranberry. My advice: if you can live a week drinking just water, coffee, tea, and fruit juices, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY ANY DRINK PACKAGE. If you wanto to drink a beer or a bottle of wine some day, just buy it at the regular bar price (I will attach the prices). INTERNET PACKAGES Standard Internet (SIN57YO) - US$ 93 - 4 Gigabytes, up to two devices. Unlimited Internet (UIN57BO) - US$ 180 - Unlimited internet for ONE device (no streaming video) Premium Internet (PIN57YO) - US$ 147 - 8 Gigabytes, up to 4 devices. Tip: you can share the Premium Internet package among many cabins, I mean, if just one person in a group of 4 different cabins wants to access internet, you can buy the Premium Internet package and have in each cabin one device with internet access. Can you comment this post? Okay, thank me in your comment. THEATER SHOWS Please write down 100 times: I will not miss the theater shows. I will not miss the theater shows. I will not miss the theater shows. Got the idea? You HAVE to reserve your place in order to go to the theater. You can do this with your cruise card on any of the touch screens you will find all around the ship. The shows are fantastic, awesome lights, sound, production. DO NOT MISS A SHOW CALLED: "STARWALKER". Well I am a little bit tired of writing, this is my first review here, but I suppose you can ask questions about it, so feel free to ask anything, I will try to answer ASAP. Please, drop any prejudices you may have about cruises (they are boring, they are for older people, they are expensive, etc.). I have heard many of these sentences in the group of 28 travelers before the trip, now they are asking me when are we going to sail again. Read Less

I chose this cruise for the price. My husband and I cruise an average of once per month. This was our first time on a MSC ship. I can't believe the amount of reviewers who wrote to complain about the dumbest littlest things. Yes the ship is crowded after all its sold out. Is it dangerously overcrowded, duh NO! Food- limited but cooked well and tasty. Great pizza! Cabin-Spacious could be cleaned better Entertainment- Theatre show very good. Entertainment staff Superb!!!! Lots of interaction with passengers, much better than Royal Caribbean. Very nice Cruise Director. Much to do around the ship, day and night to keep you busy. Destinations- Same as other lines. The cruise lines don't govern the islands they choose as destinations or Holidays. Yes, some will be nicer than others. Excursions-Book your own, cheaper. Check out the internet for other excursions. Step out of the box and explore. Give yourself ample time to get back to the boat. Ship appearance cleanliness - Excellent Private Island-Fun! Fun! Great Snorkeling As soon as vegetation kicks in, it's going to be a beauty. Parade was fun. Fire pits on beach were a very nice romantic touch. The lighthouse shows and Luna libre party were spectacular. Shop items were a little high but not out of the norm. The quality of the merchandise was very nice. Yes there were flies on the island by the. food area after all they were cooking hamburgers. How is the cruise line at fault for this? Should they have placed several staff members near the food area dedicated to swatting the flies? I have seen flies inside and outside the ship on various cruises. Come to think of it, I have seen flies in my backyard when I BBQ. Here's a simple solution cover your food. We are booked on their Transatlantic and Greek Cruises and looking forward to it. It's all about attitude. Don't sweat the small stuff. Life is too short! If you expect luxury at bargain prices, this is no the cruise for you. I for one am happy. to pay less and cruise more! P.S. If you are worried about getting sick and. that there won't be enough sanitizing gel, as a safety measure bring your own. Helpful tip bring a small can of lysol and spray your cabin down. Read Less

I am retired and an avid cruiser. I have cruised on most of the major lines. This was my first trip on MSC. I was attracted to it by the price and my desire to try something different. I had read a lot of really terrible reviews so I arrived at the ship with some hesitations. The load in was a headache. Long lines mostly in the sun. My mind is drawing mental pictures of a ship that looks like a 50's B movie. When we arrived on the ship, I found how wrong I was. I was surprised by the beauty and quality of the furnishings and decor. The Italian flavor of the vessel is everywhere and quite tastefully done. I particularly enjoyed the mosaics in the pool area. My second fear was that I would be spending 5 days eating tv dinners. So my first stop was at the buffet. There were not as many entrees as on some of the other cruise lines, but the choices were adequate and preparation and taste was on par with any ship I have been on. The pizza bar in particular was phenomenal. Ok so the ship is beautiful and the food is very good. I bet our stateroom is going to be the size of a closet. Wrong again. I had booked a room with a window. But when I arrived there, MSC had given us a free upgrade to a balcony. The room was spacious by cruise ship standards and nicely appointed. The bathroom even had glass shower doors. The staff was pleasant, maybe not overly so but I don't take a lot of pampering. The entertainment was a bit of a throwback to earlier times. Acrobats, aerialists, dancers and singers. It wasn't Royal Caribbean Broadway, but these performers were at the top of their game and their enthusiasm was obvious. The shows were lots of fun. (One caveat, the Cruise Director and Captain talk too much. You can arrive at the show 15 or 20 minutes late and still have time to be bored before the show starts.) Lest you think I see the world through rose colored glasses I will tell you service in the Dining Room is slow. Very slow. Plan on two hours for dinner. The Buffet is a good alternative for quicker food but will be crowded to the max. Here's a tip, if you don't mind a few steps, there are tables in the adjoining pool area with a lovely ocean view and less noise. Also the public restrooms are small for a ship of this size. You may find it easier to return to your stateroom especially if you are in a hurry. : ) The beaches at the private island are gorgeous. There is some coral so it is best to have water shoes. If you like to snorkel go along the rocks you will see some good size fish. Don't miss the laser light show of the lighthouse. It is a genuine stunner. The plants are recently planted and not what you would hope for in a tropical "paradise." If you have problems with flies near the food trucks. Cover your food with a plate and step away before you eat, or take a short walk back to the ship and eat there. So was it a perfect trip? No. Every cruise has its own little headaches. But to be honest I recently came off cruises on Royal Caribbean Symphony and Celebrity Edge that cost a lot more and delivered a lot less. Would I cruise with MSC again? I already have booked two more cruises with MSC. That should be recommendation enough. My advice to you: When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade, add Tequila. Call it a Margarita, and book another Cruise. Read Less

Took the New Year 2020 7 day cruise. This was my 6th cruise but 1st time with MSC. Ship was very modern and beautifully design even though the theater seems a bit small and some of the layout is not ideal such as the casino being kind of hidden. Water slides were not open every time we tried to go in and don’t think they were open at any moment. Service wasn’t what we expected. A lot of the servers and waiters don’t speak or understand fluent English. The Guest Relation staff was very disorganized and not helpful at all. In fact, they did not honor the Free WiFi and Drinks package we had with our booking. It took them 5 days to respond and they still didn’t give us the package after we showed them proof. The photo dept charged us $40 to our credit card for photos we never requested and never refunded it. Spa staff tried to sell us another package saying that the online package we bought on their website wasn’t available and that we needed to call back after arriving back in Miami to get a refund. By the way, they never answer the customer service phone number. Food at the main dining was ok, they never brought more bread, took quite a while to get our food, and water refills took long as well. At the Marketplace buffet there wasn’t much selections and some of the areas will close down rather quickly. The buffet will only have pizza available after 10pm. Excursions are ok. The captain couldn’t leave Costa Maya due to bad weather however other 3 cruise ships left without an issue. So we never got to Ocean Cay and this seems to be an ongoing issue. Coming in to Miami they hit the bottom reef or buoy sending things flying on the cabins and almost having to evacuate after the “Delta Echo Delta Echo” message through the cabin speakers at 4:30am. Life boats were being prepared and no responses or updates were given about this situation. Will not be booking another cruise with MSC again. Read Less

We booked this cruise largely because friends of ours invited us to join them. We were quite excited to try out MSC, having previously tried Royal, Disney, Norwegian and Carnival. Some Pros: 1) Loved the status match. It made it a very easy decision to consider MSC when we've already got status with several other cruise lines. Getting the 5% off just by being a part of their loyalty program was amazing. And getting the free hour in the spa was fun. 2) The ship was gorgeous. Incredibly clean (there were ALWAYS staff cleaning) They cleaned out balcony with a full pressure wash twice while we were on board for our 7 day cruise. 3) Our room steward was amazing - always prompt, incredibly polite, he noted that we were Canadian and was more than happy to speak to us in either Official language (French or English) 4) All in one package - this add on was amazing and totally worth it. The easy package was just fine for us (no real need for fancy cocktails.. I'm very happy with a Vodka Cranberry or a Coco Colada with a shot of rum on the side;) 5) Cirque du Soleil - Sonar was AMAZING. Viaggio was ok. The cocktails offered at both weren't worth it. The seats for the cocktail only bookings were better than the ones for dinner (the tables for dinner are on the outer circle around the stage with all the cocktail seats nearer to the stage). Both shows used the entire theater in incredible ways. 6) Embarkation and Disembarkation: both were among the smoothest I've ever experienced. Disembarkation took maybe 15 minutes from the time we heard our number called to the time we were through customs and looking for our transport to the airport. 7) The pools were gorgeous and the Bamboo pool area was great. The pools themselves filled up fast though. 8) The app chat feature - it was great. We had a group of 11 people in 4 different cabins and were able to very easily keep in contact and coordinate. However, kids under 16 aren't allowed to use the chat feature, so that made it REALLY inconvenient when they'd be in the kids club. Definitely room for improvement on that aspect. 9) The elevators. For a ship that size, it was really easy to get an elevator. Most of the time we avoid them like the plague due to the wait (or waiting and finding out the elevator is already full). This ship though, we rarely had an issue. 10) Smoking area and smoking enforcement. The ship seemed to actually enforce the smoking areas, it was at the back of the ship next to a bar near a smaller pool with a huge deck, and of course in the casino (which was on a lower level and enclosed to help prevent smoke and smell wafting in the rest of the ship). As an asthmatic I struggle being in areas with smoke and the only time I had an issue on this ship was going to circle du soleil (as you have to go through the casino to get to the show's theater). Our neighbour smoked on their balcony the first night so we called down to guest services who very promptly dealt with the situation. 10) the Aurea spa - we're not spa people so this was our first experience with the spa. We only went since we had the hour included with our loyalty status. We went during a port day so we had the entire area to ourselves. There were easily 10 different rooms, each with a different feature (lights, smells, hot/cold, whirlpool, salt room, etc). My biggest complaint here was that it was entirely inside with no views of the water. Otherwise I enjoyed it. Also, the staff did not track time at all (perhaps because we were the only two using the facilities) so we stayed for about an hour and a half. 11) ocean cay. I cannot stress enough how amazing this island is. I'm eager to return, particularly in a couple of years when the island has had more time to develop and grow. It's already gorgeous, but it will be even that much more amazing. Sitting at the bar by the lighthouse enjoying a cold refreshment watching the sun set over the water and listening to the soothing sounds of the waves is one of those experiences that stays with you for a lifetime. The not so great: 1) the activities. We would routinely go 2 - 4 hours where there would be NOTHING on the schedule (literally, the time slots wouldn't even be listed on the app). This regularly happened during the day time, leaving the over crowded pools, the board games (most of which weren't in English so if you didn't know how to play... good luck? although Clue in German was pretty hilarious for a non-German speaking family ;) Then, in the evening, the activities would be stacked between the shows, some game shows, trivia, movie by the pool and of course dinner. So we'd be starved for planned activities during the day and at night, we'd have to miss some of the best activities. 2) The food experience: The food was just ok. There were some dishes that just a bit... different. (IE: My husband ordered eggs benedict for breakfast.. and got a hard boiled egg on ham, with an english muffin. But only about 2 tablespoons of hollandaise sauce (the point of the dish I thought?) and the whole thing was covered in easily 2 tablespoons of parmesan cheese. So it just tasted like salty Parmesan. 2 nights in a row we ordered pasta dishes and the noodles tasted like clarified butter and nothing else.) Dinner ALWAYS took an hour and 45 minutes or more. The first night we arrived 15 minutes early so that we'd get to our table first (and we were literally the first people to walk through the doors) and dinner took over 2 hours. We ended up late for the show. When we mentioned this to our waiter, he informed us that we should make sure to be first to the restaurant.... which we were. It improved the rest of the nights, but it was incredibly clear that the waiters were given far too many tables to be able to handle so we missed out on getting to know our server and assistant server. 3) The buffet. My husband and I differ here - I really enjoyed the buffet. The carve station was always great, there was always delicious mashed potato. I was a happy gal. My husband though, felt that the food was either very 'plain" (meat and potatoes) or it was a little weird (fettuccine Alfredo with whole anchovies on top, or nachos but no cheese, pepperoni pizza with no cheese but there's fresh mozzarella made on the ship, steamed veggies then tossed in yogurt). 4) The easy drink package - both a plus and not so much here. They don't make you sign anything so you can't really check to see what you got charged for. At one point my husband ordered a drink on their easy menu called a "Canadian and Coke" (which should have been according to their menu, a Seagrams 7 and Coke). The bartender (not necessarily wrongly... per se) poured him and charged him for a $9 Canadian Club and Coke (which wasn't included on the easy drink package). Not really a big deal, but if that's your drink of choice for the week, you could be faced with a hefty bill if you aren't checking your bill (which you can do on the app or on the TV). 5) The sales pushing - When we got on board the ship, in this big, beautiful promenade area with the gorgeous LED screen that spans the length of the ceiling.. all you really want to do is take a moment, look around, orient yourself and figure out where you are supposed to be going for lunch. Instead, we were immediately surrounded by easily 5 different staff members holding up papers advertising various packages (internet, specialty dining, drink packages, excursions) all calling out as though you were in the middle of a straw market and pushing their papers towards you. Once you break free of the first group, there's another 20 staff lined up all with the same papers to make sure you weren't missed in their attempt to upsell you something. While embarkation was smooth, the initial experience on the ship was a little overwhelming. Particularly when those staff continued to try to sell you those packages in almost every public area (and at dinner) for the first 2 days of the voyage. Read Less

This is my the first time writing a review but I thought I would validate and disagree with some of what I had read about MSC Seaside. This was our 14th cruise and we have cruised on NCL, RCL Carnival and Princess. First of all I totally disagree about the staff they were all fantastic wait staff, bar staff, housekeeping all where great, My wife had has a nut allergy and a special waiter would come by every night and give her options on what she could order. There was a little issue with the language barrier once I ordered two mudslides and the bartender came back with two bud lites but no worse than what we have experienced on other ships. Also MSC has more wait staff that will take your order while you are seated than I have seen on other cruise lines lately. Actually quicker service than going directly to the bar. As far as the food I agree it was very average defieltly the worst we have had on any cruise line. Ocean Cay was absolutely phenomenal by far the best private island ever I believe that we were the first ship to visit the island . I was on the fence if I would do another MSC cruise until the last day at Ocean Cay. This Island is beautiful and way ahead of any the others we have visited. It seemed like there was enough lounge chairs for 5,000 people, seven different beach areas and nice concrete paths leading you all around the island. Nine different bar stations was a great touch no standing in a mile long line at one or two bars. They have a main buffet area and also have food trailers scattered around the island also another nice touch not having to wait in the buffet line. they also have built housing on the island for staff so all the crew does not need to work the island. They are still under construction I cannot wait to go back once it is completed. Read Less

We were with a group of 47 cruisers, we had selected a balcony cabin. Before our cruise we were given a chance to bid for a higher experience so we up graded to interior Yacht Club. Service wise its been the best on any cruise. The cabin was not any bigger then others I have cruised in. The inclosed shower was a little difficult to shower. The food was very good in the dining room, the buffet was a bit crowded, the specialty restaurant was great. This ship is beautiful, very well planned. A party deck aft was separate from the childrens water park and the other pools. Entertainment was great, these singers and dancers had a different show every night, BRAVO. The spa was great with saunas, steam rooms, snow room, jaccuzi, salt room and aromatic showers. Ports were the same but in addition MSC's Ocean Cay was a delight, although not completely finished our experience was great on the island. Besides a large BBQ area with lots of tables they had food trucks around the island which made it easy to get something to eat. We had a salad and meat dish form a food truck and it was delicious. Seven beaches and some cabanas along with boat excursions, canoes, paddle boards, and Waverunners. I certainly would cruise with MSC again. Read Less

The ship is beautiful! The dining room food and dining staff need real help, service and food were terrible. We have been on 25+ cruises and this was the worst experience ever. The food and service in the specialty restaurants were top notch but who want to have to pay for food every day! Our cabin had a tub in it which we didn't know would. This might have been great for some people but for us it was a nightmare as husband has very bad legs and was difficult for him to use. They finally were able to move us to another balcony room. There is no storage in the rooms, maybe two small drawers and the closet is very hard to use. Too close to bed and can only use one side easily. We have cruised to Caribbean so many times we really don't care if we get off the ship. In this itinerary the ports were worse than usual. One port Isla de Roatan wasn't even built yet still under construction. Th high light of the trip was to go to the new Ocean Cay, MSC's private island. Which we never got to go to since MSC cancelled this stop. They did give us a credit for not going to their private island. Will we go again on this ship? Not sure, will have to improve significantly. We love the MSC Divina and will return to that ship! Read Less

PART ONE - Horrendous Our holiday got off to a terrible start. I had booked to go away with my mother and a few of her [elderly] friends. We booked early and chose our cabins so that we were all together and conveniently located to the facilities we planned to enjoy. However, a few weeks before we were due to travel, one of our cabins was pulled and we were told we were going to be placed 3 floors higher and at the opposite end of the ship. This was a big problem for us as we had all planned to convene on each others balconies to enjoy afternoon teas and coffee; also, to enjoy pre-dinner drinks. I complained to customer services who did their best to get our original cabin back but to no avail. Their 'allocation team' would not budge and neither would they locate our friends near to our new cabin. We were all gutted, as separating the group prevented us from popping in and out of each others cabins and enjoying the usual camaraderie. As a compromise, they managed to find us another cabin on the same floor but still this was a trek and left us isolated. To make up for it, we were given 50 euros onboard credit and Prosecco on arrival and although this did little to make things better, it was a gesture we appreciated. That was, until we boarded the ship and discovered our newly-allocated cabin 9084. For anyone allocated this cabin, please note that even though it is classed as a Bella Balcony cabin, IT HAS NO VIEW WHATSOEVER UNLESS YOU ARE STANDING UP!!! When sat on the chairs provided all you can see is solid white metal. All the saving up to pay extra for a balcony on which we could relax and enjoy the views out to sea, was therefore wasted. The disappointment and upset was beyond words. It was bad enough being parted from our friends but to be denied the benefits of our balcony too was just the final straw. We demanded a proper balcony cabin or to be refunded the cost. Unfortunately, this was not something the cruise staff could sort out as - any claim would have to be handled by UK admin staff - and there was no other cabins available to move us to! All we could do was wait to see if anyone with a balcony cabin failed to show up at the next port and we could then have theirs. As suggested, we waited. We had embarked on a Sunday afternoon and waited until Monday evening to see if there was any change. Still nothing but we were told to check again another 24 hours later, after the next lot of passengers embarked. We did so but by this time, and having lived out of our suitcase for 2 days, we had given up hope. At this point, we all felt our holiday had been ruined. It had put a complete dampener on it, especially as my mum was so upset she had burst into tears and said she just wanted to go home. She was totally unsettled and could not bear having to rummage in her case every time she wanted something. We therefore decided to unpack and resigned ourselves to the isolation and having no balcony/view. Ironically, we then received a telephone call in our cabin from reception. They had found us a cabin - not near to our friends, but it had a glass fronted balcony so at least we had a view! Of course, we then had to repack everything in order to move and it was a real pain, but considered worth it as we still had a number of days left. It took us a while but eventually we got settled and our holiday finally began!!! PART TWO - fantastic With only one or two exceptions, the staff on this ship simply could not do enough. They worked extremely hard to ensure passengers had a good time and the atmosphere onboard was a party one. Our waiter was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. We did not see much of the cabin steward but our room was always neat and tidy when we returned. As for the food, it was much better than the last MSC cruise we went on. The menu choices were varied and appetising and portion sizes were also reasonable. The buffet restaurants (Inca and Maya) were always far too busy to be an enjoyable experience so we chose to eat breakfast and lunch in the restaurant or ice-cream parlour instead. However, the choices there were very limited and in the ice-cream parlour/coffee shop we had to pay for our drinks but still it was the best option for us. To prevent the main buffets from being so busy it would have been better jf the coffee shop and Il Cappuccino lounge offered a greater selection of sandwiches or snacks - together with free tea/coffee/water (as in the main dining areas.) This would have evened things out so that certain areas were less crowded at any one time. In relation to the excursions offered by MSC, these were not so good. I realise that they rely on outside companies to provide the service and they merely act as agent. Nevertheless, they need to take on board the feedback and get some of these companies to change how they do things. There were a LOT of complaints and the exclusion staff had to take the flak. We did the Casablanca/Rabat tour and had looked forward to it more than all the others we took but it was a terrible tour and a complete waste of a day's holiday. Our tour guide was rude, disinterested, ill-informed and was incentivised only by taking us to venues where it was clear he earned a commission. On a 10 hour tour, he refused to let us stop for a coffee break (apart from the 1 hour lunch stop) and when a number of us asked about visiting a bazaar/souk, he said there was no time and took us instead to what can only be described as a 'junk souvenir shop' in a back street. The next such stop was at an argan oil factory in Rabat where we all had to sit through a boring presentation lasting about half an hour. We were all then handed a basket to purchase their products and take them to the till. Needless to say, there were very few takers and most people on the tour were furious - especially as we had been denied any free time to explore either Casablanca or Rabat again due to 'lack of time. When we reported back to reception the next day we were met by many others queuing there for the same reason and some were on other buses also part of the same trip. It was a disaster and I felt sorry for MSC as it was really down to the tour operator. Where MSC did excel was the entertainment. All our party are avid cruisers and we agreed unanimously that this ship offered the best entertainment we have ever had. The theatre shows were second to none and were astoundingly good - standing ovations nearly every night. The shows varied from musical performances, serious style opera, comedy, circus style acrobatics (within theatrical setting), to drama and plain fun evenings. The variety and standard of performance was absolutely incredible and I'm worried we are seriously spoilt for the future! Whoever the theatre production company is they deserve recognition and commendation for first-class entertainment. So, all in all, a bad experience at the outset only turned round by the attitude and professionalism of Paula from customer services and the staff on board. They saved our holiday from complete disaster, meaning we lost only part and not the whole of it. I had already booked another cruise with MSC (2021) and had planned to cancel but they turned this fiasco around so I've given them a reprieve. Read Less

Stefano Guzzardi and Yennier Moreno who are part of the entertainment staff have made this cruise very memorable for me.. not only they are kind, funny and great entertainers , they are both great dancers which I love to do and both made time several times for me.. I would love to join them on a cruise one day .. Luigi Incarnato is also a great entertainer and always gets the crowds going.. Read Less

Chef cooked a special dietary breakfast and dinner for 4 in our group that we would not have expected from other major cruise line. Even the cafeteria staff is excellent and maintain cleanliness. Mykonos was cancelled due to high winds considering safety- a right thing to do. Talented entertainment programs in the theater. Cabin size and cleanliness were better than some older ships in other cruise lines. Overall our entire group enjoyed the 7 night cruise and no one had any major complaint. All of the family shows are great, Peter Punk, Butterfly, Michael Jackson. But all adults shows perform by a group of 4 person is just ok. Would like to have few standup comedians shows. 6. My husband and I decided to book a very spontaneous trip on MSC Magnifica four days before the ship was to set sail through Expedia. We were coming from Boston, USA and took a non-stop flight to Rome, then a smaller flight to Bari, Italy where we embarked. We read some of the negative reviews (mostly about smoking on the ship and staff being rude) but decided to risk the trip anyway. We are so happy we did!! We found most of the criticisms of MSC and the crew to be completely inaccurate. From the moment we boarded, the staff, crew and bartenders were fantastic and very responsive to any of our needs. We did not have to wait very long for drinks, everyone was friendly to us and the ship was gorgeous. The cabin was ready when we arrived with our bags already in the room. The cabin was nicely furnished, very clean, comfortable bed and a beautiful room with a balcony. The dining in the main dining room at night wasn't my favorite. The food was good but nothing blew me away with flavor. If you are what we call in the states "a foodie", this is probably not the cruise for you. The buffet for breakfast and lunch was good, however. Very nice salad bar, hamburgers, french fries, pasta, homemade pizzas, rice, Thai dishes and lots of other choices. We went on the cruise for the Ports of calls and a spontaneous adventure. The dining portion and food were a low priority for us. The Activities on the crew were fun, we danced, had drinks at the cool bars, sat in the sun, and attended many of the Broadway-style shows. They were cute shows with skilled dancers and singers and a nice way to end the night. The thing we loved the most was the amazing ports of call. Every Greek island and/or city (Venice, Montenegro, Bari) was outstanding. Too much to write but a trip of a lifetime. Everything and more that we had hoped for. I highly recommend this cruise. The only small difficulties were lots of Europeans do smoke, but only outside. Not many people spoke English so we were a little isolated (but my husband found that to be a positive lol), the initial Embarkment was a 2.5 hour wait to get on board, and lines were a bit confusing in the buffet area for breakfast and lunch. I recommend going to the buffet right when it opens to avoid the frenzy. The only people I found to complain were the Americans who didn't have a lot of travel experience. Their expectations were too high for some of the places they visited off the ship. We understood that traveling to these ancient cities there would be lines and confusion since they are not equipped for the influx of thousands of tourists descending on their infrastructure at one time. Some of the ports of calls would have 5 cruise ships show up at one time letting 4,000 people off per ship. One last thing, I do believe you need to be average to good shape to walk around these ports of call. I am in good shape (45 year old female) and found it to be moderate to above moderate exercise to get around with lots of cobblestone walkways and uneven terrain. I was grateful my 80 year old parents decided not to attend the cruise with us as I don't think they would have had the energy to walk around. Overall I would rate this an excellent trip and would do it again with my family in a heartbeat. Read Less

I booked this cruise to be part of the Weight Watcher (WW) Mediterranean Cruise in July. My friend had never been to Europe so we thought this would be a great experience to see several different ports in Spain, France, and Italy and get to meet WW members from around the world. I have been on several different cruise lines over the past 6 years including: Norwegian, Holland America, and Oceania and the MSC cruise was a huge step down in the areas of Dining and Service. The ship is brand new, launched in 2018, and it's beautiful. It has 20 decks and holds up to 5,200 passengers. It's a floating apartment building, complete with their own app that was used to book theater showings, maps of the different decks, and a daily schedule for events. There were abundant activities for families like 3 pools, a water park, and even a zip line on top. There are several restaurants and a buffet. The theater holds almost a thousand guests per performance and there are three 30-35 minute performances each night. The dining experience was our greatest disappointment. The food that WW had specially prepared for us, was bland and boring. We decided to eat at the ship buffet and it was basic cafeteria food, with a heavy emphasis on pork and fish. The food was fresh, but not exciting at all. I was amazed at how many little extras were not included: such as ice cream and iced tea. The shows were the best part of the cruise and we went to every one of them. Nice scenery, interesting themes, colorful costumes, great singers and acrobatic acts. No stand up comedy, thank goodness. Entertainment in the lounges was fine too. Service was poor. On-boarding was confused at best. We were in a special group and they didn't really seem to know about it when we arrived. We got through the process and our luggage was delivered in a timely fashion. We NEVER met our steward. We never received ice, although we had an ice bucket, and the turn down-service didn't include the little chocolates and fun towel animals found on every other cruise line. Information desk staff were rather curt with people and seemed stressed most of the time. Long lines were found at the different service areas, such as Excursions and Front Desk Assistance. You were pretty much on your own to figure things out on the ship. If you asked a question, you were often referred to their app. Disembarkation was a terrible mess, the ship was late docking and everyone was asked to leave their rooms anyway and we were kept in lounges waiting to leave for almost two hours. We stood in line for almost an hour after we docked before we could leave the ship. By that time people were upset and getting impatient with very little staff helping to ease the situation. We booked tours for almost all of them through the ship. One of our tours was cancelled and no one let us know until the evening before. I happened to see were weren't booked on their app and went to inquire about it. I was told there wasn't enough interest so it was cancelled and thankfully found a different tour that still had space. Ports were as expected. They were ok to good. The half day tours were hurried with no time for shopping or really getting off the bus, except to take a few hasty photos. The day excursions to Florence and Rome were better. We had knowledgeable tour guides and were able to see as much as possible given the time constraints. The prices were average compared to other ships. I usually book my own excursions through Viator and you get more value for your money. I love to cruise, but I would not book with MSC again. They have a lovely ship, but the Service was not good and the Dining experience was just average. Read Less

Where to start: First, we have sailed nineteen times and experienced an array of American AND European cruise products from RCCL, Princess, Costa, P&O, NCL, Holland America etc. The experiences of these diverse products have collectively informed my opinion of our MSC experience. MSC is NOT for the American market share rather, this European line is clearly after the sustainability of the European market share. American products by and large, do not charge a consistently high price for the cruise and then, charge clients for water while on board. Yes... MSC does this. Not even Costa does this. We paid over 3k for our cruise (similar and consistent to what we have paid for with other products like RCCL, Costa, Princess etc.) but while on board the MSC product we were charged for water.... we were amazed, perplexed and terribly disappointed. Its also important to note -what MSC USA sold us was not what we experienced onboard. When we pointed out the discrepancies on board we were told to take it up with MSC USA when we got home. We did, they did nothing to satisfy or settle our issue. We purchased the Fantastica experience, were told drink packages were included - then they somehow were not included. When we argued they were - we were told we had to buy a drink package which we did for our two children (non alcoholic package) and 1 adult alcoholic package. Only to get on board and be told we shouldn't have done that in fact it was included in our package and when we asked to have the initial prepaid packages we purchased refunded they said - sorry it wasn't included... The only thing which we felt was consistent was the inconsistency between what was sold and what we expected to what we actually experienced onboard. Other things we felt were important to note. The excursions - expensive but of little to no substance; again, representing to us an imbalance between what we paid for and what we actually experienced. We purchased several excursions through MSC - and quickly spent MORE TIME transiting to the excursions than we actually did enjoying the place we were visiting. This happend to us in both Arles France and Portofino. In Arles, we spent 3 hours on a bus to experience the town for only an hour. While in Portofino, same things - we paid a fortune to go to Portofino and spent three hours transiting there only to spend an hour IN Portofino... Very little value for money. Similarly, MSC twice docked at a port which they charged a fee to go from the Port facility to the town.... We were left shaking our heads and again, having the experience of other lines, this was an anomaly we felt was important to note for others who are considering this line. The ship itself was clean, comparatively clean to other lines and with cabins which were much larger than the typical stateroom found on other lines. That was about the only two bonuses on this line. Our experience of the ship was in one word -- exhausting. Terribly overcrowded and with clearly overwhelmed staff who continually treated us with discourtesy and disregard. The staff appeared as exhausted of the overcrowded conditions as we were. This was consistent from the bar staff to the dinning staff -- totally overwhelmed and continually discourteous and seemed exhausted..... The common centers on the ship were jammed daily elbow to elbow with people and loud music - wasn't a quiet spot on the ship to be found... ever. The smoking is an experience not commonly found with American products, on European lines - smoking is everywhere and something we found terribly intrusive and distasteful. Imagine placing the ONLY soft serve ice cream station for kids on the ship in the smoking section of the ship... kids actually have to endure cigarette smoke while waiting for their ice cream (which was eventually closed down due to being broken). This careless disregard for children - alone, made us not want to return to this product... ever. We have sailed many ships (19 cruises to date) and several of those other European products. First time we were ever on a ship and product we couldn't wait to leave... first time. The cost of this product comparatively is similar to other lines - RCCL, Princess Holland America - but what you get for your money is wholly inconsistent and as a result, we could not in good conscience recommend this product, especially for families. While MSC is trying desperately to break into the American marketshare, we believe this is going to be extremely difficult as people with experiences such as ours, share our impressions with others. This was an honest and unbiased account of our experience. We hope it is taken seriously so the product may be improved for others going forward. For us, we will not use or recommend this product in the future. Read Less
