I booked this shorter Med cruise, to check if standards and general improvement where high on MSC wish list, to my dismay they were not. After a shambolic trip on the MSC Opera from Abu Dhabi to Genoa in may 2023, I tested the so called high calibre of service and quality which the company was aiming for, unfortunately all fallen by the wayside.

Disclaimers: First, I believe there is a cruise line for everyone. Second, I have cruised the Mediterranean before (June 2023). Third, I typically sail on Holland America.
I simply did not enjoy this cruise experience. There were multiple things I did not like but understand they may just be annoyances to me. There were a few standouts of things that were really good.

We rebooked on another bargain cruise in Yacht club on Euribia. We loved every minute and look forward to returning soon.
The yacht club is well run and all our needs were met. Fabulous staff including butler Abhi and assistant butler Timmy who spoiled us rotten. Any issues were immediately rectified by them along with the excellent concierge team.

I have sailed with MSC in 4 different ships in the past, Splendida, Poesia, Euribia (the best so far) and lastly World Europa which was a huge shock!
I don't even know where to begin on how awful the whole experience on this ship was. The staff was so unfriendly and always angry with everyone (guests and their own colleagues) there are a few exceptions of course but these were hard to find ...

So for some context this was our 30th cruise with 6 different cruise lines, 6th with MSC and 3rd in yacht club.
Hands down this was our favourite ship ever.
Pro's-
The ship is utterly incredible. Yes it's massive, but there are so many incredible venues and locations and although it was full it felt like it handled the numbers well.

We were staying in cabin on the 11th floor with infinity ocean view boarded at Palmero with fantastica experience.
Issue 1: They do not clean you window. We were stuck with a dirty window for 5 days without anyone cleaning. When you complaint the room attendant say she promise they will clean on the next day. When next day comes they do not clean them. The window is dirty from them cleaning ...

Under no circumstances would I ever sail with MSC again. The cabin (while very comfortable) was on deck 9 (directly above the lounge). There is no soundproof beneath the cabin and thus was forced to listen and "feel" the music into the wee hours of the night. We got a good deal on this ship and needed to use 5 days leave-had cruised on the Magnifica a few years so thought it would be good as a new ship. Beautiful, shiny, glossy and sparkly with fabulous entertainment and brilliant proper dining in the restaurants in the evening, however beware.
