I recently went on a 3 night cruise from Southampton on the Virtuosa. We had a very cheap price (around £350 each for a balcony cabin, inclusive of drinks package) so my expectations were pretty low to start. We have previously sailed Cunard and Princess and whilst I knew MSC were very much the other end of the cruising spectrum, I didn’t expect it to be quite as rough as it was.

The dining restaurants were of average standard. The buffet restaurant was over crowded with lack of staff. The service chaotic. Too many people crammed into a short period with not enough staff. In the bars it took 30 to 40 minutes to be served.Too many photographers which could have been spent on employing more bar staff/waiter service. Rooms were cramped and small. Ship was beautiful pity the ...
The reason i use msc is because kids go free. I have three children and simply cannot afford to pay adult prices for my whole family
I'm an experienced cruiser, who has used all the major cruise lines. We Enjoyed them all immensely, but paid twice the price or even more.
Despite not charging me for my kids, they then have a free kids club for each child and also take them for their meals. ...
We was travelling as a LGBT couple aged 37 & 27 from the UK, this was our 7th cruise and 4th with MSC. We embarked in Southampton, England - the terminal is new however the process of dropping the bags off to going through security up to boarding the ship seemed a little chaotic however you couldn't be sure if they was down to MSC or the port staff. The minute we stepped onboard you are just ...
Having sailed on MSC twice before we once again chose Yacht Club. Our arrival in Southampton was hectic, four ships in port and the roads gridlocked, once we arrived the MSC Yacht Club team took over and within 35 mins we were sitting with Prosecco and nuts (not the passengers) awaiting a very speedy boarding process passing the waiting queues with some derogatory comment from other passengers. ...
MSC DID WELL: the nightly entertainment was excellent. Jennifer Tierney had such a powerful voice. The ship singers and dancers were superb and well choreographed. The 3 tenors performance was exceptional. The room stewards and main dining room staff worked very hard to ensure we were well looked after. The pizza in the buffet was incredible...dare I say...addictive. I have lots of new weight I ...
While the ship offered a wonderful itinerary overall the cruise itself was just ok. 14 days out of Barcelona hitting 10 counties was a wonderful draw for us. Boarding was seamless and quick and we basically were able to walk right on and directly to our room. Food was just ok, nothing to rave about but you didn't go hungry. Entertainment was below average, I have seen better at a high school ...
For the price we paid (slightly under 100pppn) for an interior room with premium drinks package, we had a lovely holiday and would absolutely aboard the MSC Virtuosa again.
There were plenty of things to get upset/frustrated by, but we got well beyond what we paid for, and we're therefore delighted!
Positives
- Beautiful ship
- Excellent value
- Speciality dining was fantastic and, ...
We have fortunately been on a few cruises with different cruise lines and unfortunately this time was nowhere near as good. We had a party of 8 people all booked under one name. When the times were issued for embarkment MSC had split us into 2 parties with different arrival times. We called to change this but was told it was impossible. This caused us stress but in fact we were all able to board ...
This was my 2nd cruise with MSC and my first in Europe. It was a nice experience. The MSC Fantasia is a nice ship and the crew couldn't have been nicer. We had a better service experience than we did on our first cruise in the Bahamas.
The food was decent in the main dining room and the buffet food was quite good. We had a drinks package included with our cruise fare, which included ...
