I chose this cruise because it had an itinerary that appealed to me.I have been on at least 15 cruises and I can honestly say that this particular cruise was one of the better cruises that I have been on. The food was much better overall than any other cruise that i have been on. The facilities and variety of bars and lounges to choose from was also much better as compared to other cruises. The itinerary was particularly of interest to me because I have been to India before and it gave me the opportunity to revisit some of the places that I had been to before. It also gave me the opportunity to visit Oman and Dubai - places that I have never visited before. I would have no hesitation to recommend this cruise to friends and relatives. It is a cruise that I would gladly repeat if I have the opportunity again anytime in the future. Read Less

Because we want the reviews and feedback below to reach the right staff, we start with the address of the highest in rank! Review: We wanted to cruise to India Not a tour in a group but an individual tour, so we could go our own way. And afterwards we could enter our clean cabin. We have booked our excursions in the Netherlands at info@fstravel.nl, which was perfectly arranged to perfection. Our thanks go to all the staff who do their very best to make it perfect for you as a guest, super hospitable and you are really central as a guest nothing is too much! The dinner in restaurant LIppocanpo was worth a Michellen star! Delicious. Our hosts Gusti Wiiaya and ASSORI are top in our experience! We give these men a big 10! This cruise has been put under quite unreasonable pressure by a number of fellow guests, but nothing was too much for them ... a big compliment! Of course we also want to thank our stuart Farizi Andi from Housekeeping services for all the work that Andi has done for us, Andi is ready for you day and night and our Cabin was clean and clean Andi ThanXX also a big 10 for Andi We also want to thank Helda Sinaga and Richar Saldon of the Coffee Corner (Bar Services) for their hospitality at the Coffee Corner, always a smile and friendly. Nothing too much !!! Also a big 10 for Helda and Richar! If I were the manager of the MSC Lirica I would immediately extend all of the above people to their contract !!!! Our thanks also go to Valentina Caiazzo Guest Relationship Manager for the delicious drink and snack !!! Valentina also a big 10 !! If these people above were in our immediate area hence our big thanks. Thanks in part to the staff, our Cruise has become unforgettable and a dream has come true. !!!!! We do expect a response by e-mail from the management of MSC Lirica to be sure that our sincere compliments have ended up with the right staff !!! Greetings ❤️❤️❤️ Read Less

We decided on this cruise as we did a similar itinerary last Xmas & new year with Celebrity. Don’t know where to start with MSC Lirica. Food in the dinning room was inedible. Every item ordered was either too tough, burnt or not what was on menu. My husband and I decided to sit at a table of eight. Guests were trying to eat meat then spitting it out as they could not chew it. Veal in breadcrumbs was burnt & tough. Beef was so tough you could cut it with your knife. Lasagne was slices of pasta with a white sauce and sprinkled with spring onions. Not being a desert fan I ordered cheese. 2 small pieces of cheese with 3 grapes & a dried apricot. When I asked for the biscuits to go with my cheese was given a bread stick. Food in buffet was awful. Dried up meat etc Waiters wiping food left on tables on to floor. Watched the waiter walking round food that was dropped by guests. Pizza station had pepperoni pizza. Full pizza cut into 12 pieces with three pieces of pepperoni between the 12 slices. We asked to see the food and beverage manager who met up with 15 of the guests from all over the world. Each person representing their family. We all gave our concerns about the quality & standard of the food on the ship. He didn’t seem interested. No apology or no change in food. He did say he had compliments on the food. Don’t know who was feeding these guests as it was defiantly not the same chefs who prepared our food. We asked him to take a walk round the dinning room that night and ask guests their opinion on the food as everyone you spoke with were complaining. He didn’t appear on any of the nights. We were all getting off the ship in port to get something to eat. Ship was not very clean. Toilets were filthy with feusus over bowl, Wet floors and no hand wash. Lamps in our stateroom were thick with dust. Only thing good about the ship was the staff. Very friendly and efficient. So if your thinking of going on MSC LIRICA DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY Read Less

I am going to try to explain my experience as well as I can because my english is not excellent. We chose this cruise because of the lenght and the country visited. My son and Husband wantd to know Dubai and Abu dhabi, and I wanted to visit India. We normally do a cruise per year, and we promissed not to do anymore cruises with italian companies, but we had no choices. Our expectastions were not high and we made our mind that the most important for us woud be the countries. We also booked an inside room as our opinion is to save money for other activities. talking about savings.... when you buy a cruise I am sure sometime you get offered some packages for drinks. We normaly never buy them as we do not drink that much. We nearly got it for this cruise thinking that it was a 15 days cruise and it might be worth to get a package. NO. THE DIFFERENCE IS TERRIBLE. With a package we were asked for about 400 euros by adults + 200 euros per kid. That makes about 1.000 euros. and there is a condition that says that you can only have drinks that cost under 6euros in the menu. let say for exemple you want to have a cup of wine, but that wine cost 10 euros on the menu.... well.... it wont be included in your package. we paid for drinks an average of 30 euros per day for all of us! Teas , coffee and water are offered for free 24h. When the boat stops in a country you spend whole day out. every dinner we had our bottle of wine + water.... we saved more than 50% on the package price!!!!! Coming back to our experience, it was extremely disappointing in general. The first table we got in the dinning room was a very small table for 2 against a wall with a big column where we were supposed to sit 3. we had no choice than having dinner there that night as we would change table the day after. on that 1st night, some wines were already sold out from the menu. the table was awfully dressed, different size of cups, some mini plates for olive oil that we are still waiting to get, knives missing, some tables with plates for breads, dirty napkin... than the food arrived.... OH DEAR! what a shame! no presentation at all, portions extra minis, no taste... awfull! I have ordered some steamed salmon.... It was as dry as a shoe sole! size of the loin: 7x2cm. We thought it was the first night, so we gave the kitchen another oportunity to surprise us. Next morning: breakfast.... not that bad for the 1st breakfast. but.... it has been THE SAME BREAKFAST, WITH EXACTELY THE SAME FOOD offer during the 15 days of cruise! well.... let see what happened on the 24th of December. Christmas night. we ordered some scallops.... guess what..... 1,5cm diameter each.... and guess how many units??? 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wououuuwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! than we ordered some lobster tail. guess what...... 5cm long by 1,5cm.... my husband ordered the "Selection of international" Cheese.....yes sure, cheese were international : GOUDA. and yes it was a selection of different gouda.... but it was exactely the SAME GOUDA WE HAD DURING 15 DAYS FOR BREAKFAST! but we were lucky as instead of sliced it came cut in smal cubes. wouwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally the dessert: Pannetone (italian cake). we found strange our waiter asked us if we would like some chocolate sauce on the top of it. we finally understood why.... if you dont have the sauce you choke on! Mediterranean dinner.... we thought... good... we might have something nice. my son ordered some Gazpacho (tipical cold tomato soup from Spain). have you ever seen a soup you can eat with a fourk? IN MSC Lirica YES! (check picture). It was also soooooo spicy and hot that we could not even eat half. I have ordered some "bouillabaisse" which is a tipical french fish and sea food.... just awful as it was seemd to be done from those powder you just have to add oh water on the top.... My other picture is supposed to be a "tarte tatin". It was simply a roasted apple with some cream. Please, appreciate the decoration of the plate. It is work of art!!!!! I took a picture of the "Apple French Mille feuille". If you cant find it, it is absolutly normal as instead of the "mille feuille" I got something similar to a "yellow jelly". We all tried it, it was terrible. By the way.... the new year buffet was absolutely pathetic. poor. no qulity food. and..... THE SAME GOUDA WE HAD FOR BREAKFAST!!!! wouwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets move forward from the food.... teen club and it´s team. I have never meat someone so unfriendly. The tean club was sometimes closing before time because the girl responsible of the activities was "tired". she was super anthipatic and not nice at all. shows were not that nice either. bored. Waiters work in hard conditions in the dinning room. There is actually NO SPACE for them to walk around the tables. Service is slow. We were lucky to have a good waiter. He was actually the only person we gave tips in the boat. Oh... by the way..... the tips.... as you might know, some cruise companies charge you the tips directly onto your account and the payment is mandatory. In MSC it is charged onto your bill thatyou pay at the end of the cuise. the good thing is that you can ask NOT TO PAY the tips. Bear in mind also that everytime you buy sometjing on the shipt you are charged 15% for SERVICE CHARGES. we have decided not to pay tips and we personally gave to people who really deserved it (our waiter, his second, and our room maid). in general we found people rude, sometime unhelpful. I cannot talk about the excursions as we did not use them. We organise our own excursions and we discover much more options by ourselves. the only thing I can tell, is that the prices of excursions on the boat are abusives. We could have taken more pictures during the cruise as the dinners were really "funny" every day, but we didi not want to spend more time with this issue. Never again with MSC! Read Less

We were only on the ship for 3 days thankfully. All announcements given in 6 languages. And on our 3 day cruise the muster drill was announced 3 times in 6 languages due to lack of attendance. Food was not good, On HA we eat in the dining room every night, on MSC we left the dining room first night and never went back. For the "every night option" on HA they have steak, on MSC noodles! No free movies in the room like HA and the staff weren't any where near as polite, friendly, helpful. BUT, the entertainment was fantastic. They did a condensed version of the Ooera Carmen and had a fantastic acrobatic show. The ship itself was decorated nice. The line at Customer Service was so long that it was well after 24 hours before I even tried to get in line to wait to exchange money. Read Less

Great itinerary ,Shanghai to Dubai, and beautiful ship. Ports were great except for Phuket where the locals were pests and we felt unsafe. Sshanghai, Singapore and Dubai were fantastic. Shore excursions too expensive, suggest you plan your own activities at each port. entertainment was poor and amateur and repetitive. Buffet food not warm and same every day. No coffee or tea in dining room and have to pay for water. Service was poor and cabin not made up properly and on a timely basis. Staff not very friendly and not properly trained. We could not easily plan daily activities as information lacking and poorly communicated. Dance floors were small and traffic flow often went directly into dance area. Bands were OK but schedule for each group began at same time and therefor breaks at same time. Overall, many passengers were disappointed with this cruise and openly said so. After first week it was hard to see anyone with a happy face. Do not recommend MSC and would not take another cruise with them. Read Less

Shanghai embarkation took 5 hours. During this time there was no contact from MSC staff no announcements, help with language difficulties, no refreshments of any kind, a nightmare start. I realise the process not controllled by MSC but on the other hand just felt totally abandoned by them. The procedures / processes to get off at the ports seemed increasingly difficult, the paperwork, the queues, the long walks to the terminals themselves. Be prepared for these set backs. Even the excursions- the timings could have spread out their set off and return times so that their wasn’t massive queues to get back onboard after a hot tiring day, then 2 hours queuing to get back onboard. The food was not what I expected from MSC. Only 2 memorable meals on whole cruise and the rest mediocre. The onboard activities very poor. A few exercise classes at beginning and end of day. There was about 70 people attending craft class because there wasn’t really anything else as an alternative. Trying hard to think of some positives to bring to this review but at this moment.... We have been cruising for a long time, over the years since we retired we have increased or length of time on the ships picking over 30 day cruises. We was so looking forward to our cruise on the Spledida as we had been with MSC around the Carabean which for two weeks it was value for money. We where due to sail from Shanghai Asia, for 28days covering a large area of Asia and finishing in Hong Kong, as soon as we where on the ship from day one we new there was something not right, we went to the buffet for lunch the first day and all the hot food was only just warm and in some cases being served cold, this continued for the rest of the cruise, we were due to eat breakfast, dinner, and evening meal in the restaurant which was pre booked, even the food in there was cold or just warm when it should have been cold. Things didn’t get better on the ship, the restaurant got worse in service, the time you had to wait for food, the food was shocking they even served food discribe on the menu that with items missing, for instance we sat at a table for 6 people, we all ordered the same starter which was salmon salad 5 was served with salmon one without, the two pieces of salmon on the salad would not cover a 50 pence piece. We I complained the excuse was they must of forgot to place the salmon on the plate. I asked he the waiter had checked the food before serving he never answered, I took that as no. Things got worse on the ship fighting amongst passengers, poor organisation for trips, chaotic organisation when being tendered to shore, very poor performers in the theatre, only 4 performance over the 28days that was worth watching. The bars ran out of draft beers for over a week ask why, no excuse received, just a shrugg of their shoulders. I could go on, but i will stop has there is too much to mention, just let’s say I cancelled our next cruise with MSc from the, we where due to sail April 2019 starting in Durban for 29 days, lost our deposit better than paying another 10k for the shocking way we where treated. I would not sail with them even if it was free. Read Less

Have cruised on MSC Splendida twice, both in Yacht Club, and being impressed by the good service in Europe I haste to return to see what's new as this ship is now deployed in China. There is not much changes in the hartdware part, less Chinese than competitor ships. Most staff remain, particularly the good butlers. Heard that about 20% of staff are Chinese speaking and this helps to keep the cruise experience in a traditional shape although all passengers are Chinese and announcements are in Chinese. Great Yacht Club service remains, really helpful butlers better than the fake butlers on Silversea for example. Newspaper at choice is delivered in an original photofax format. Free minibar and drinks. Yacht Club is of course a 'ship with in ship' facility with a lot of private, never congested spaces. The service is so attentive that one is escorted to cabin and on disembarkation, even to stateroom when back from excursion. There are only less than 200 YC passengers. The YC restaurant, L'Olivio was good in Europe and is now even better in China. Not only with additional Chinese dishes, real Chinese Chinese food, not American Chinese as on many ships. In 4 days we had twice lobster, and steak is served differently each occasion. Other delicacies include sucking pig and abalone. Best cuisine, perhaps even better than the declining and cost cutting Silversea. Production shows each and every night, very entertaining. Good singers too. This is a 4-day cruise going only to Fukuoka in Japan, but the ship itself is my and possibly everyone's destination. There were almost 8 hours on shore. Alas, the 4-night trip turned out to be 5-night due to typhoon in Shanghai, but everyone is happy. MSC has taken out insurance for every passenger and they can claim hotel or flight change costs if applicable. Passengers are offered free internet for one day to manage travel matters. The additional day is of course free, as was also the waived service charge. No one can complain. Yacht Club members are offered free limosine transfer, in good cars and good service. As an old MSC customers in Europe I am happy with this in fact upgraded service. I have reason to believe that MSC in China manages better than their competitors such as Princess. Read Less

This was the third time that we have sailed with MSC, each time on a different ship and each time with the same verdict. Great. Quite why British reviewers generally slate MSC is beyond me. This is not Royal Caribbean, it is not Cunard, it is not P and O, it is MSC, it is an Italian Line, it has Italians on it. They are not British, they are Italian, they do not eat a full English. They do not queue. They are loud. They do not drink to excess. They push and shove a bit. BUT they do not wear football strips to dinner or breakfast or in fact at any time unless they are under 10. The Brits manage it though, grown men in football strips and shorts for dinner, classy. They eat good food and they like a few glasses of nice wine and they know how to behave. Enough of the slagging off. To the nitty gritty. After an overnight flight to Dubai on Emirates we were met a DBX by an MSC rep and taken straight to the ship. Arriving at around 1030 we were on board by 1115. People are right when they say you are not shown to your cabin but what is difficult about finding your cabin. First two numbers are the deck and last three are the cabin so 11187 is on deck 11 between 11185 and 11189 simple. Luggage is as per every other line delivered to your cabin, in our case within an hour of boarding. The cabins are perhaps on the small side but are absolutely immaculate and perfectly adequate for two people. Straight to the buffet for some lunch and no real pushing and shoving. It is a line system so is not really ideal when large numbers are there but it works OK. The food is good quality, piping hot and plentiful. If you cannot find something to your taste then you must be the fussiest eater alive. There are even chips all the time at the kids section if you need chips with everything, oh and beans and HP Sauce at breakfast if you can't live without them either. The buffet is now available for all meals and is open from 0630 until 0200, a change brought about by people moaning that you had to use the main restaurants in the evening. That meant you had to be sociable and talk to fellow cruisers and didn't suit some people. We always went to the main dining room for our evening meal. We were allocated first sitting which was at 1830, some days it was a bit of a rush but the other option is 2100 and with meals generally taking a leisurely 2 hours it would mean some bad dreams if you had cheese. We were at a table for 6 and shared with more English speakers, a couple from Scotland, like us, and two ladies from South Africa, although one originally from Scotland as well. We mixed well and had some good laughs and good chat. The food was generally good to better than good. Two gala dinners where they went the extra mile. The Tiramisu gets a better welcome than the Baked Alaska but it's an Italian line so to be expected. There are loads of bars on the ship but as usual we gravitated to the same one every night where we were well looked after by Andrii from The Ukraine. We never had to wait long for a drink and he quickly learnt our favourites. We had paid in the UK for the premium drinks package, about £200 each, but this included everything in the mini bar, everything from room service and everything from the fantastic ice cream parlour. We got our money's worth. We only went on two excursions. One to Yas Marina F1 circuit and one to the Fjords in Oman. I had been to Yas before when the F1 was in town but this trip promised "behind the scenes" and true to their word we got in to race control and on the podium, to an F1 buff like me that was worth the 70 euro cost on its own. The Omani Fjords were simply stunning, we got a 20 euro voucher left in the cabin one night, so the trip cost 55 euros each and was well worth it. We were late in booking and the English speaking trip was full so we went with the Italians and it was good fun, especially watching them freeze in the 80 degree heat and put on jumpers and wooly hats. All in all this was once again a great trip to foreign countries with a foreign ship with predominantly foreign people with foreign food. Just what I want from a foreign holiday. Well Done MSC. Just returned from 7night's on board MSC Lirica at Dubai. We has a great time on board. We were all inclusive so maybe that made a big difference. The animation staff were really great. They encourages all ages to get up and join in the games at the poolside. There were exercise and dance classes all of which were were supported. The meals were a bit different than PO or Royal Caribbean cruises. We managed to eat in the restaurant's and were well fed although there did seem to be a lot of fresh fish on the nightly menu. we didn't starve and really enjoyed the lovely pizza's made freshly on deck everyday. The staff were all delightful especially the waiter's and waitress's in all the lounges. Beverly Hill lounge was our favourite each evening listening to Duo Mexico. we even manged a few dances in there. We really don't do cruise excursion's and mainly do our own thing. When we stopped at KKor Al Fakkan the best thing to do is take the shuttle bus out off the port and walk 20 yards and you will see all the taxis. There will be a free shuttle minibus laid on to take you to 5star Oceanic Hotel. You get the use of the large pool, showers and beach sunbeds. We went for the lunch as well and cost us around 90dirhams ( £20) we are Scots and do enjoy a bargain. What a bargain the lunch alone must have been worth at least £25/£30. Plenty of fresh salads and several choices of main meals. I opt for a stir fry and had 2 chef's preparing my stir fry and adding all the ingredients of my choice. At least 20 sweets then to chose from. Great value. Once you are ready to depart hotel and head back to ship the free shuttle will drop you off at port in plenty of time to join ship. We didn't make our last port of call Muscat due to sea being to rough to dock in port so we headed back to Dubai where we spend 2 days in port. The only down side to this was being there on Friday is their holy day and some of the shops at Kamara were closed. Kamara this is the district in Dubai where you will find all your designer handbags for a fraction of the cost. Well if the guy's take you to their secret room's. Don't be afraid to haggle with them as this is how you pay for good's. They usually start about twice the price you will get the bags for so keep going down in price and they like Dirhams best. All in all we feel we got a great bargain on our 7 night cruise as we booked up and got free all inclusive. Ship a bit on the small side but we enjoyed the friendly staff. Rosie @ Fred Read Less
