Once bitten, twice … bitten?

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Zaandam

The reason for this rather cryptic title will become apparent as you read the narrative. We had two reasons for taking this trip from Montreal to Boston. First of all we have always wanted to visit L’Anse aux Meadows, and secondly because we had sailed on the Zaandam around Cape Horn in 2018, and really enjoyed the ambience of a smaller cruise ship, despite a serious problem. Generally speaking ...

Tired ship, mediocre food, boring entertainment

This was my third Holland America cruise. My two prior experiences were very good. Food in the main dining room in the past was good to excellent. On my past trips there was sufficient entertainment and on board activities. Not so on this cruise. Food in the main dining room was okay to poor. On the gala evening, the lobster in the surf and turf was old and cooked to death. So too was the ...

This was our second cruise with HAL. The first was through the Panama Canal and was memorable. This one was more memorable for the Cons than the Pros: Pros: We like the Neptune suites because they are spacious and there is access to the Neptune Lounge, breakfast in the Pinnacle Restaurant, the complementry laundry, and the Concierge who is very helpful for anything that comes up. The ...

Interesting ports and sights. Husband and Wife have cruised Holland America 3 times and other mid line ships 12 times. We are active early 70's. Chose window cabin over balcony due to past experience with the weather being too cold to enjoy the balcony. PRO: . Interior and exterior of the ship is in superb condition for a 19 year old ship. Not so much for the Hull. . Food was tasty ...

We chose this cruise because of the ports of call. Due to the weather ( which was awful) we were not able to stop in Sydney, Nova Scotia. I did enjoy Quebec and our private tour with Tours By Locals, Claude was our guide and he was beyond excellent, I would recommend Clause to everyone going to Quebec . I also enjoy a private tour to the Bay of Fundy in Halifax by Bruce's Tours, I recommend him to ...

No Pool, No Communication

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Silver Wind

I have swum on every cruise I have taken, usually at 6 am. I swim in place with a band around my feet. However the Silver Wind was really open and heated on one full day. I frequently requested that it be filled and heated, so I could swim.I never received a reason why it was not filled or heated. BAD communication and service. Our ship was supposed to leave at 10pm to Quebec. They knew they ...

Ship was fine, food and amenities disappoint

First time sailing on Silverseas and we expected a very nice trip. Cabin was fine, on par with Regent, just not as new. Having a butler was nice. Food was at best mediocre. There were really only 2 restaurants to choose from (weather was so cool, pool side dining was not comfortable). Menus changed only every 3 days. Breakfast buffet was pretty much the same every day. Lunch buffet varied, ...

Very disappointing trip on a 5 star cruise

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Seven Seas Mariner

We chose this cruise line because of a prior 5star experience sailing 10 years ago. which we absolutely loved. Our most recent sailing was on a very tired ship. The furnishings were worn, with stains and tears in some of the cabins. The television system was almost insignificant because there were no channels, but the cable system lacked sophistication. We were informed that several of the ...

We chose the Regent because of all the reviews of how great it is but frankly we would not book this cruise line again It is way overpriced! We are paying the minimum for an H category cabin $16,000! This is our 12th cruise and we are experienced cruisers and favor Oceania far superior - more fun We are now cruising out of Sydney Nova Scotia to Halifax on Here is our 5 day review so ...

In a word....DISAPPOINTING

Last September we really enjoyed a Siversea cruise down the Amalfi and up the Adriatic coast voyage number 26287 Civitavecchia to Venice. Based on that experience we decided to book another Silversea voyage. We recently returned from the Silver Whisper voyage number 4724, suite number 439. We embarked in Montreal on September 8 2017 and disembark in New York on September 19 2017. The ...
