We sailed on the Elation August 2011. First of all, I am really disappointed that Carnival is leaving Mobile. The efficiency of the port was top rate. One of the best we've ever been too. It took us about 30-45 minutes from the time we pulled in to the bay to unload our car til the time we was on board sitting down for lunch. The garage on site was a nice plus. We've never had a long wait or bad ...
Background: Our party consisted of my wife and I with 2 childern(6yr old girl and 9yr old boy). It was our 3rd cruise. Also traveling with us was my wife's mother, her sister and a grandson (16yr old).
We had a roughly 600mi. drive, so we drove down the day before. We stayed at an Econolodge in Saraland,Al., which is about 10 mi. from the cruise port. Nothing fancy about the hotel, just a ...
Let me start by saying that this was my 7th Carnival Cruise. If this had been my first, it would have also been my last. I have had nothing but good things to say about Carnival in the past, but this Cruise did not meet my expectations.

The room had a very musty smell, and the bathroom had mold everywhere. When our luggage arrived, we stored our clothes and left. When we came ...
Here are the particulars: my wife, myself, our 19 year old daughter, her friend, our 16 year old son and his friend took the Carnival Elation out of Mobile on August 13th for the five night jaunt to Progresso and Cozumel. My wife and I had a double inside cabin (U203) and the kids had a quad inside (M174). We drove from Indiana (about 12 hours) stopping at a Homewood Suites in Montgomery on the ...
I enjoy Carnival. This was my second cruise with them. The Mobile port is easy to maneuver especially because there is only one ship that docks there. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Downtown (it's the round building) They have parking available there for 55 dollars for a 4 night cruise which is about 15 dollars cheaper than the port parking. They have a free shuttle to and from the port as well. The ...
I'm not sure what cruise some of the other reviewers are talking about. We had a great time on the Elation. The service was great, our cabin steward knew our names after one day. She really catered to out 9 year old son. The waiters in the dining room were really great, the people we sat with at our table were wonderful. We were able to get two entrees if we wanted. No one ever forgot. The bar ...
We booked this 5-day cruise as a last minute getaway. We are Diamond on RCI, but decided to give Carnival a try since Mobile is close enough to drive to and this itinerary included Calica, which would give us a chance to visit Xcaret. We were curious to see what differences there might be between Carnival and RCI.
Embarcation was pretty standard, with the glaring exception that both my ...
My husband and I stayed in an oceanview stateroom with our two sons, aged 13 and 15. Our overall cruise experience was fine. We had a wonderful time, and our kids can't wait to go back, although next time we may try a different cruise line. I think that one of the reasons our experience was so enjoyable was the fact that we chose to look at everything with a positive attitude - we were determined ...
My husband and I sailed on the Carnival Holiday in 2007 out of Mobile. Had a wonderful time. I remember the sailing to be a little choppy at times, and noisy when pulling into ports. I expected a better experience this time around since the Elation was a larger and newer ship than the Holiday. Don't get me wrong, we all enjoyed our experience, and for the price, it was a great vacation for all. ...
There is a 15% gratuity at the end if you don't pay ahead of time, if you dare to go on this cruise, pre-pay. Some lady got a 200.00 US bill. The soda stickers for the kids were ok except when you dine in the dining rooms. The staff either 'forgets' to bring their drinks or refills or are very slow about it.No cocktail sauce in the floating Old Country Buffet on the Lido (10) deck for your shrimp. ...
