The ship was dirty and the food was terribly disappointing. It was like a bad night at a Golden Corral just before they throw the food out. The wait staff and stewards were very friendly, but 2 of the 3 times I went to Guest Services, I dealt with someone who was totally incompetent. I don’t know if this was a training issue or personnel issue, but the attendant was totally unfamiliar with the what the “First to the Fun” included or even what it was. We also purchased the “Chef’s Table” experience. Again, the service was great but most of the food was terrible. The pro was not with the food itself, but with the execution. The wagyu beef in particular was over cooked and drenched in what tasted like McCormack’s sauce. We got back to find that Carnival double-billed all are expenses onboard and sent my bank account into chaos. We will cruise again, but never with Carnival. Read Less

I choose this cruise because it was going to the Panama Canal and the port was close to home in Mobile. It was a longer cruise and like to travel on the ship. The more days, the better it is. We booked the cruise 11 month in advance because it was filling up pretty fast. Some of my friends were going and they told us about it. This was our 18th cruise on the Carnival. We like a smaller ship and the Fantasy is one of the smallest ship in the fleet. It is the oldest. We took our snorket gear with us so when we visited Rotan (Magahony Bay) we could do some snorkeling too. The water was so clear, but not many things to see in the clear water since they had rock barriers. There were a few little fish to see. The weather couln't have been any nicer. The cabin was ready when we board and we greeted our steward. He was very friendly and we wanted ice and he kept us with ice the whole trip. The dining waiters were very friendly and worked hard for our table of 10. We had people that were late every time and they just smile and took their orders, which sometimes held our meals up. Anything we needed we just call the service desk and we got all our answers and services we needed. The ports were great and we enjoyed our cruise very much. Over all the staff was great. Read Less

This was a girl friend getaway. We wanted to go to Cozumel and we had experienced cruisers with 4-5 cruises under their belt, I had cruised once before and we had a newbie. We were all totally disappointed. This ship is old, dated, small, creaky and ready for the scrap metal yard or for a total overhaul. The water was rough, we experienced sea sickness. Our hallway always smelled of sewage as well as several other places on the ship. Our room creaked so much with the rocking of the ship we couldn't sleep. It sounded like a rat was scratching inside the wall above our heads. A sound like a woodpecker would happen each time the ship tilted a certain direction. I finally determined after three nights of no, to very little sleep, it was the TV beating against the metal stand. I stuffed a folded up daily Fun paper between the TV and the stand. Georgia was having a winter break, unbeknown to us. The ship was over run with children. We assumed that buy going in February, most children would be in school. We couldn't get in the swimming pool. The kids were in the hot tubs, splashing and acting like they were tiny pools. Kids are not suppose to be in hot tubs due to health reasons but no one was enforcing that. There were not enough lounge chairs for everyone. People would though a towel on a chair early in the morning. Claiming it all day long even though they only used it an hour or two during the entire day. They closed the upper deck due to waves and high wind so all those empty chairs sat up there unused and unreachable. The same thing was true for the adult only area. Every chair had a yellow towel across it being claimed by someone, sleeping in their cabin or eating at the buffet but not using the chair! The walls in our cabin were dirty. The knob on the closet door was broken. The ceiling tile had been half heartedly replaced. The staff were great as always, as well as the shows and the food. I reported our room problem and the seasickness issue to customer service and was told that was normal this time of year. The worst part was the drinks. Even though they cost about $10-11 each, there is very little alcohol in them. I would expect that at an all inclusive joint but not when your have to buy them at that price. The biggest shock was the all inclusive beach excursion offered on the day we ported at Progreso. The beach wasn't as big as my back yard, lounge chairs were already taken and again the drinks were diluted, I had 6 mixed drinks and a beer didn't even get a buzz. I couldn't believe Carnival offered this as an excursion, shame on them. In the future I will look for other cruise lines, check the age on the ship and do my own excursions. This trip was certainly a learning experience. I was embarrassed for our first time cruiser to experience such a mess. Read Less

Very 1st cruise and it was a disappointment. We paid for Faster to the Fun and it was probably worth it, but only if you were at the beginning of the line. Our board time was 11:30, but didn't actually get on the ship till 12:30. Sat waiting for "special parties" to get on. The food. Window's by the Sea buffet was no better than any casino buffet in Biloxi. The highlight of the Jubilee Room was our waiter. Guy's burgers were so greasy I think they used them in the engine room. The noise level on board ship was crazy. Everything played & sang as loud as possible. First two days the toilets didn't flush on our side of the deck. Room, not to mention the ship, is really old. Corners of wall panels peeling up. Plastic trim on window ledge bubbling off. Legs on stools & chair dusty. Carpet stained. I wouldn't want to count how many layers of paint are on that ship. Did enjoy the Karaoke & Casino. And our tour of Chichen Itza was everything we expected. We might try sailing again, but not on Carnival. Read Less

We had a group of 20 of us for this cruise. Three of us were considered expert cruisers and 6 brand new cruisers. The remaining had cruised a couple of times. We chose this ship due to the location of the departation port and the fact it was so close to home. We all had a great time with only one or two complainers who would complain even on the best of cruises. We had a great time really and the food wasn't bad. We thoroughly enjoyed the Mexican Bar and Burger Bar (aka Blue Iguana's and Guys Burgers). Also really enjoyed our specialty coffee's in the morning as well as an iced one in the afternoon. We did have the Cheers Package, but would probably not do it again as I think we drank just to make sure we got our money's worth. Our cabin was not a bad size and the bathroom was pretty large too. It left from Mobile - which we can drive to the morning of sailing from Atlanta. We were taking 17 family members. Convenient. We took 17 people in 8 cabins. 80 yrs. old - 1 year old. My personal part would be my cabin and the cabin with my mother and two daughters (20 and 17). The food was just OK. Ordered from the steak house twice and was disappointed both times. Did not live up to $20+. Entertainment was so so. Amount of on board activities for a ship with 2000++ passengers was limited. It was cold and rainy the last sea day and there was nowhere or nothing for that many people to do. Would I do it again? Maybe for the convenience. But I would know what to expect. Walked off the boat nearly last (LOL) and we were back home with a lost - time change hour - by 4:00. OH- The ship was VERY VERY rocky. Worst any of us have been on and everyone except one adult and the 1 year old have cruised 3-8 times each. My 20 year old had to go to the medical center and get a shot for motion sickness $78. I marked no children because the 1-year -old belongs to my niece and I had limited contact with him. His mom, dad, and grandparents took constant care of him. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to help our friends celebrate their anniversary. Ended up with 11 going but the cruise was delayed due to Hurricane Nate. We waited around and got to go out for 2 1/2 days and everything was great. All the crew seemed to do their best to help us have a good time and very friendly! We had great rooms, most were inside ones on different decks, but no one had any issues. Embarkation and debarkation went smoothly even tho it took hours to get the ship up the river and docked. We really enjoyed it and was happy that we went even tho there wasn't any port calls. Carnival did well to make up for the unfortunate weather event. We ate in the dining rooms almost every meal and was always well taken care of. Evening entertainment was wonderful in the atrium bar area. Lots to do every day. Read Less

Carnival Fantasy was my family's first cruise and we loved it! The staff was amazing and although some staff were hard to understand they were all super friendly! Food was great, some things did taste better then others but overall loved the food. If you have any sensitivity's such as gluten intolerance my suggestion would be to contact ahead of time and arrange to be seating in the Jubilee Dining Room. You have an assigned table for the whole cruise which just makes it easier to get the accommodations you need. The 24 hour ice cream and pizza is amazing! Cabins are much bigger then what we were expecting to get on the cruise. We upgraded to an ocean side window and the little extra money is definitely worth it, As far as entertainment goes, my family never stopped. From the cruise director of fun, C-Love to the multiple different shows and activity's going on the whole family had something to do. Shows were amazing and I definitely recommend the Hasbro game show and the 80's show! Even when we hit a rough patch on our last day at sea there shows continued and the performers improvised to bring us as much fun as possible. The ports are great and we honestly didn't need to do any excursions. Definitely recommend meeting the dolphins at Costa Maya, don't pay for the shore excursion to meet them because on the port they only charge you 25 US! Now since I am a teen I think it's time I get to my favourite part of the cruise; Club O2 the club meant only for 15-17 year olds. I didn't see my family unless it was dinner time or if it was 3:30 in the morning because that was how late I would be out having fun! I made so many new friends from this group and the group supervisor (shout out to Martina!) was just plain awesome! So many different things everyday and if you are bringing any teen on this cruise tell them to try it out because they will make lifelong memories! My only complaints would be that my younger siblings who were in Circle C (the group for 12-14 year olds) had a boring supervisor who did nothing so they ended up doing other things on their own. Also the bubbles program is not worth the money (juice is not included no matter what t says online and you have to wait like 5 minutes just to get a pop). I would definitely recommend this to family's and one other shoutout to our amazing waitress who's name I can't spell but she's the head server at the Jubilee dining room! Read Less

Invited to cruise with some friends that had never cruised before. Had a great time on the Carnival Fantasy for 5 days. You know your having a great vacation when you have trouble remembering what day it is! The Carnival Fantasy staff went above and beyond to make sure we all had a memorable experience. Everyday when we left our cabin we would return and like magic our cabin would be clean and a wonderful towel animal would be waiting along with clean towels and at night our bed would be turned down and a fresh set of towels would once again appear just like magic thanks to our wonderful steward Seth! We ate dinner every night in the Jubilee dining room and I have to say we had the BEST team of waiters on board the ship.....head waiter Manik and his entire team were exceptional!!!! We enjoyed every minute of our dining from the food to the entertainment from the waiters-Wayan Manik, Dewa Gd Anom Trisna, Nyoman Agus Aditya, and Anak Agung Gede Hendra. After dinner we would spend time enjoying the music on board while having a glass of wine or cocktail and our server Shane was the sweetest guy and would spend time chit chatting while taking our orders and always made sure we were having a good time and enjoying our self. The cruise director C Love also deserves a big shout out for his role in making this cruise one to remember. He made sure that by the end of the cruise everyone knew him and was entertained and having a great time. We will definitely be cruising again with Carnival and I can only hope that the next ship we cruise on has the same staff that we have had on the Carnival Fantasy....WONDERFUL GROUP OF STAFF!!!! Kudos to Carnival human resources for hiring great people that love their job because it shows and it makes a huge impact with the cruisers. Read Less

Group of friends and relatives. we had a blast on the ship! The service was excellent, the drinks were good. We decided not to do the Cheers program due to being cut off at 15 drinks in 24 hrs (others cancelled theirs). We checked with every contact on board and they all said yes 15 max. then your card would be cut off. I'm sure there could be a way to get around it. (someone buy you drinks etc.) but we didn't want the hassle. Getting on the boat was fairly easy. Long line of cars but took about 45 from time we got to Mobile until on ship. We all met at the starboard pool bar (as usual). Carnival has stopped the smoking on the starboard side pool bar, the only place you can smoke now is starboard deck 10 or in the casino or at 1/2 of the casino bar, nearest casino. (I think you can smoke in the Electricity Dance Club at night but we didn't go there). I don't smoke but my wife and several friends do, this new policy needs to change. The top deck was so windy that everyone piled up at the casino bar to smoke. The smoke was terrible and the smell the next morning at the casino area on deck 9 was awful (even my wife and other smokers agreed). It would be so much better to let people smoke at one side of the pool area where it would be outside. The food and service in the Dinning room was very good. I had read reviews stating otherwise but we enjoyed ours. The buffet food was not so good, maybe that's what made the dining room food better. The Guy's Burger were awesome! One of the daily themes on the buffet was French Cuisine. We tried it and both got a bad case of indigestion and my wife got sick. We didn't do anything in Cozumel (got up late). Just a little shopping and back on the ship. Our friends did Carlos and Charlie's and tour of the island they had a good time. Live music was pretty good, with the Live band at the casino bar fantastic! The karaoke was good, most cruises I've been on in the past, Karaoke was limited, but they started at 8:00 pm and went until. It was in the Cat's Lounge right next to the casino bandstand so they had to close the door to keep down interference from the band and crowd. Room was clean and our Steward Molly was great! There was a noise, sounded like water pipes hammering and occasionally pipes rattling that was annoying. NOW - On Debarkation - This was a nightmare. I think the problem was everyone was given a designate time to leave the ship, but when they opened the gates Everyone tried to get off instead off waiting to be called. This could have been due to the ship being late arrival due to storm, but I would imagine it happens every time. We waited our turn and still took a long time 1-1/2 hrs standing in line. we arrived in port about 10:00am we didn't get off ship until about 2:00pm. My suggestion, if you can, wait on ship until most have left. Another suggestion make a restroom visit before getting in line. There are no available restrooms until you are through customs and then it is one portable toilet. Hope this helps someone. Enjoy your cruise. Read Less

We went on a scrapbooking themed cruise on the Fantasy, leaving from Mobile. The ship was delayed coming in 27 hours due to weather and we left 27 hours late. We were promised a full day of cruising refund but we found out the hard way that the refund did not include any prorating of our $393.34 in port fees, taxes, or other fees. This makes zero sense to me since our docking in Cozumel was cancelled. I guess Carnival pays Cozumel zero port fees. I did not get the automatic prorated refund for pre-paid gratuities credited as a refundable credit to my on-board ship account that I was supposed to get so I called and spent an hour on the phone arguing that I never got it and they finally agreed I had not gotten it and so they are mailing a check in 2-3 weeks. Then there was the onboard ship account mess in addition to not getting the prepaid gratuities refund. I downloaded Carnival's cruise app where one is supposed to be able keep up with one's onboard charges. Half the time it did not work. When the account part of the app worked, it worked well and was accurate. However, the last night of the cruise, a piece of paper detailing my charges and credits was slipped under the door that totally disagreed with the online app. So I went to Guest Services and they looked it up and decided the app was right but not the last night paper statement. This was the only positive experience I had with Fantasy's Guest Services. The morning on board the ship, we heard hammering or something right below our cabin from about 6 am to 6:45 am. I went to guest services about 7:15 am and there was noone there and no sign saying they would open or be back at a certain time. So I yelled to see if there was anybody and back. After the third holler, someone came out. I was told they could do nothing about the hammering because I did not report it while it was going on. If it happened again, I should call. So the next morning when it happened again, I called guest services from my cabin and guess what? They did not answer! I hung up, waited a few minutes and called again and again no answer. Shame on you Fantasy Guest Services and Shame on the very noisy Fantasy crew who bang and make all kinds of noises when people should be sleeping. There were many more problems with this stupid cruise, and I will try to think of a few more of them. When we got to the cruise terminal, there was about a 30-40 minute line of cars outside backed up into the street trying to get into the parking garage. Once we finally got our luggage turned over to a porter and parked, I, who have a handicapped hangtag, had to stand in line with everyone else in the garage for 45 minutes just for the privilege to ride up an escalator to another long line. At this point, I spotted some wheelchairs that I had not seen before and asked for one and was told I did not need one anymore because the lines upstairs for security were real short. So we went up the escalator to security and there were horrible lines. So I asked again for a wheelchair. I wanted over 20 minutes for a wheelchair. After we got through security and signed in, I was pushed up a very, very long ramp and taken to my room by a very nice young man. But the whole ordeal of parking and boarding took over 2 hours. Oh, and by the way, there is a shortage of handicapped parking spots. Our cruise was cut from 2 1/2 days at sea and 2 ports to 2 1/2 days at sea and 1 port. Despite this, Carnival closed the pool on the last day at sea and there was very little to do except eat, drink alcohol, gamble, and play bingo. Shame on Carnival for closing the pool without telling anybody you were going to! Somebody told me Carnival does it on all cruises to clean the pool but I didn't know they were going to do it. I have been on 3 other cruises, twice on Royal Caribbean, and once over 10 years ago on Carnival and this was by far the worst. On the other cruises, the cruise line had interesting speakers who gave programs on board about the natural history or history of our destination, but Fantasy had not interesting programs like that. As for the food, my daughter said she thought the Fantasy had a theme for their food, "dry cake." Except for one night serving of Tiramisu that was tasty and moist, she and I agreed that all of their cakes were very dry and therefore not as tasty as they might have been. Carnival should serve a wider variety of desserts, especially on their buffet, such as some pies or cobblers. On the one night we had in port in Progresso, we decided to try the buffet instead of 6 pm dinner reservation and were dissappointe to get to the Lido buffet and find it there was only one hot line and it was very long. Why? This seems like a very bad management decision. Even in the mornings when they have two hot buffet lines the lines are long so why ever go down to one? Hopefully this is the last complaint, cabins are real small but bathroom not too small and they need to update the cabin to have more than one outlet for recharging multiple phones and cameras. My daughter were fighting over the outlet. And I had to get my daughter to stand on my bed to reach the air conditioning vent to adjust the air flow coming out directly over my bed since I have mobility problems and didn't dare. I'll stop there. You get the picture. Messy accounting, deplorable refund practices, horrible embarkation practices, terrible Guest Services, cabins clean but need modernizing. Since my mother told me never to say anything bad if I couldn't say anything good, I will list a few pluses: clean and neat cabins, very nice and caring personnel on board the ship except for Guest Services, good buffet breakfasts in the Lido buffet although lines a little long and having to share tables with strangers. But sharing a table with a stranger can be turned into a plus. Read Less

Sailed on April 9, 5 day to cozumel etc. Out of 15 cruises, this is the first one that we encountered any problems. The ship was not at the port when we arrived. We always look forward to driving into town and spotting the big red tail. When we see the tail we really get excited. We soon found out that the ship would be delayed for hours because of fog. We were told to follow a police car to the convention center to wait. Even though it was not a good start, I must say that Carnival did a superb job taking care of the hundreds and hundreds of people that they had to relocate for a few hours. The had a continuous hot lunch being served, regularly scheduled briefings to keep everyone updated on what was going on, and movies playing to help pass the time. People were zoned and organized and briefed and everyone knew what was going on . Finally we were all bussed back to our cars so we could proceed to the parking garage and check luggage etc. We were on board approx 8pm. Open dining was available to all; rooms were ready and luggage arrived promptly.our kids met some kids they knew and they were fine. The rest of the cruise was like always. Enjoy the shows, the mongolian BBQ is a favorite also pizza and sandwich bar. Went to the dining room for dinner 2 or 3 times, depending on what they're serving. I can eat chicken at home so I don't go that night. When I'm not real hungry i go just to try something new that I wouldn't normally order. The pasta dishes are superb. Always enjoy the lobster. The steaks and prime rib have always been chewy, even when ordered medium rare so I stay away from them. I don't know where they buy their beef or what grade it is but the only consistently good beef on the ship is the cheesburgers on lido deck, they are always excellent.I spend a lot of time in the casino. I usually win a little the first night and give it all back and more the rest of the time. And i have a wonderful time doing it. I cruise a lot and some cruises make me happier than others but I always get what I pay for. i cruise out of the southern ports, Jacksonville, Tampa, Port Canaveral, mobile and New Orleans. I hate that carnival is leaving Mobile, it was very convienient for me. Going on the Conquest in Nov; can't wait. Read Less

A group of 6 of us ladies left a cold snowy Kansas City at 7:15 AM on Sunday 01-09-11. Actually, we started out at 4:30 AM since we didn't know where we were going...but we found the house ok and soon we were driving to Mobile Alabama to get on the Elation. Our plan was to stop in Jackson Mississippi to sleep and then drive the rest of the way into Mobile in the morning. We had just entered Arkansas about 2:30 PM when we heard that the weather was bad in Jackson and on. The guy at the rest stop asked where we were going and he told us we would never make it! He told us that it was icy and snowy in Memphis and worse past there. We made it to Memphis (and crossed over the Tallahatchie bridge! I thought that was too cool!!) and there was no bad weather. But not to far outside of Memphis it started sleeting a little. Once it started snowing, it wasn't too bad but the other people around us were driving like idiots so we chose to stay in a motel in Grenada, Mississippi. It snowed quite a bit that evening and on the weather channel the next day, they had a reporter in Grenada, saying that the whole county had one snow plow! But after a nice free breakfast, we got going and it wasn't too bad. We arrived at the pier about 12:30 I think(and of course it took a while to unload everyone and everything). We had one lady in the group that was platinum, so all six of us got to go through with her on the priority boarding thing, but then had to get in the long line for the check in after that. It was maybe a half hour wait or so. We were on the ship at 1:30 so it wasn't too bad at the pier. We were able to go right to our rooms and set our stuff down and then explored a little and ate lunch on the lido deck. I guess I should tell you a little about our group we were 30-74 years old. 3 of us had cruised before and three had not. We had a blast! Anyway, back on the ship. We waited till it was time for our Muster Drill in the Cole Porter Lounge. We did not take our life jackets and did not go to our lifeboat stations. The muster drill was great, short and sweet, and I liked not having to lug our life jackets around with us! Then we went out through the back door to the Serenity area to watch the sail away. It was about 40 degrees or so that afternoon and we waited and waited and waited for sail away. About 4:30 they made an announcement that they were doing some routine maintenance and safety checks and we would be sailing soon, and the guys down on the dock waiting to undo the ropes all shook their heads at us. I assumed we were late because of the weather causing problems with people getting there on time, and I heard that is what Guest relations told some people. And I have heard that it was because they knew about the propulsion problem at that time. But I guess we will never know the real reason we didn't sail till about 5 PM. And it was COLD! But fun watching the sail away. Though I still have not seen any dolphins while on a ship yet. We had late seating dining in the Inspiration dining room and our waiters Ahmnot and his assistant Chai were the best ever! They completely made this trip so memorable! I have been on three cruises and always thought that we had great waiters, but these two went above and beyond to keep us entertained and happy. People at other tables around us wanted our waiters! We all even started going to the Imagination dining room for breakfast and lunch just to have them serve us. I was exhausted after getting up at 3:45 Sunday morning and not sleeping well in the motel Sunday night so I went back to the room and went to bed after dinner. We had a bunk bed in our room that didn't really work for my roommate to sleep on so the next morning I suggested she talk to the room steward or Guest relations about getting a roll away bed, which she did and by Tuesday evening she had a roll away bed. Tuesday was a fun day at sea, and elegant night. We watched a line dance class and played in the casino and sat on the deck and just enjoyed the day. The food was delicious that evening, and after dinner I did karaoke which was fun. During that time is when they made the announcement that there was a problem with the propulsion system and we would be late getting in to Cozumel the next day. Now, about all the panic and stuff, I was in the drama bar area which is open, very close to the casino and very very loud, I barely heard the announcement and no one quieted down so we could hear it, so people that panicked and acted all stupid about this probably did not hear the original announcement and you all know how rumors spread! That is all I am going to say on this matter other than it was a disappointment to not get to go to Calica, but I was fine to not go. We arrived in Cozumel about 1 the next day and were told we did not have to be back till 9:30 PM, but who wants to be in Mexico after dark? The walk to the end of the pier is pretty far and I was glad my mom did not go this time as she would not have been able to walk that far. We did a little shopping and then went back to the ship and sat in the hot tub. It rained while we were there and it was fairly warm. We heard while we were in the hot tub that Calica was out and we got our letter after dinner explaining it and telling us we would get our $72.50 back. Dinner was good that night too and the next two days were sea days and they were a little boring though on Friday I did win the scavenger hunt so I now own a coveted 24 kt gold plastic ship on a stick! I was thrilled! The shows I saw were Just Rock and Win and they were both FABULOUS! The main singer (I think his name was Jason) resembles Donny Osmond. The entertainment staff were great and poor Steve the cruise director tried his hardest to keep us going and informed. Debarkation scared me because it was the first time I was doing the carry your own suitcase off the ship thing. But after breakfast I was heading back to the room when they announced that the Empress deck could leave if they were doing the self service or whatever that was called. I got my suitcase and got in line. I would say that was about 7:40 and I was walking to our van at 8. The other 3 ladies in our group (the first two were already at the van when I got there) were just heading back to the rooms when I was going to get in line so we expected a long wait. We were on the road outside of the pier at 8:30 so other than hard because my suitcase was too heavy, it was a relatively painless process. Will I sail again? YES! With Carnival? Of Course!!!! On the Elation? Maybe! But it does need a face lift I think. Our room was always clean, the food was good and I enjoyed it. And all three of the ladies who never sailed before all said they would sail again! So it was a great cruise and even though there were a few problems, it still was 5 days at sea and not at work! Oh one more thing, the only shore excursion I signed up for was the behind the fun tour and they cancelled it because of the engine and weather problems. That was probably the biggest disappointment for me. Read Less

First of all, this was our 10th cruise, 1st on Carnival. Most of the others were on Royal Caribbean. This was a group cruise. Medical Coders for a seminar and fun!! Carnival was chosen for the convenience of the port of departure. Also because my sister has cruised Carnival several times and has been very pleased with their service. My sister's business is the one that put this cruise together and she was also the speaker for the seminar. Ok, not to compare RC and Carnival, At this point, I DO prefer RC over Carnival, but this is just after one cruise. I will have to cruise again with Carnival. EMBARKATION: Several coders were on this trip, but all arriving in Mobile separately. However, my family (sister, brother in law, brother, mother, husband and son) all arrived at the same time. Expecting to get checked in at the same time. My brother is in a wheelchair and due to an illness, my mom was also using a wheelchair at the time. We were all able to go through the VIP security check point. However, when it came time to check in, my husband, son and myself were separated from the others in our group. They were able to check in before us because of the wheelchairs. There were only 3 of us, they could have let us check in with our group!! Therefore, we were separated and the 3 of us had to wait well over an hour to get on the ship. BTW, don't really care for the procedure of getting a number, then sitting down to wait to be called. It could be because of the port size, don't know? FOOD: Lido Cafe was always crowded. Lines were very long. Not a whole lot of choices for food. We did like the pizza. We loved our waiter and asst waiter in the dining room. Very nice. The food in the dining room was great!! My husband and son got two portions of the lobster! Warm chocolate melting cake EVERY night!!! was great!! Added note: My mom was sick and had a little trouble at dinner, the waiter (can't remember his name) was great, very patient. ENTERTAINMENT: I must say, I didn't care too much for the Cruise Director. I really preferred the assistant cruise director. He was much funnier! The shows were ok. The welcome aboard show was good. Especially since my brother in law was one of the ones that was chosen to play the spoon game. The comedian was good too. SHIP LAYOUT: wasn't too happy with the layout of the ship. On all the cruises we have been on before, you were able to walk around the entire ship on one deck. On the Fantasy, you couldn't do that. STAFF/SERVICE: Our room steward was very good. Room was always clean. Loved the towel animals. Waiter and Asst. Waiter were great too. My husband and I have never danced together before (been married 27yrs). Our waiter had us up and dancing. Now, my husband says that's the first and last time (he doesn't like to dance, I guess!) For the most part, every crew member we encountered was very nice and polite. There were a few we passed in the hall that didn't even speak. We have never seen that on RC. OTHER: Like any other cruise, I believe the pictures were WAY overpriced!! If they lowered their prices, they would sell more pictures. $21.99 for a 8x10 is ridiculous. Not to say that I didn't buy a few!! I did buy a few things in the shops also. ONE MORE THING: As I've mentioned previously, my brother is confined to a wheelchair and my mom was using one on the cruise as well. They shared the handicap accessible room. There were a couple of issues with the room that need to be addressed. I believe my brother will be contacting Carnival about that. The first problem, the telephone was on the OTHER SIDE OF THE ROOM from his bed. So, if he needed help (which my mom did) he had to get out of bed to his chair and then roll to the phone (which was by the door). The other problem was the thermostat control. It was in the ceiling!! What person confined to a wheelchair can reach the ceiling!! DEBARKATION: Went smoothly. No problems. No trouble finding our luggage. Going through customs is much quicker if you get a porter!! TO SUM IT UP: We will go on another Carnival cruise, in fact, my husband and I are talking about taking his parents for their 50th wedding anniversary. Nothing happened on this cruise that would cause me to say that I would never go on Carnival again. But, at this point, I do prefer RC. Give this cruise a try and you will probably get out of it what you put in it. Have fun!! Read Less
