Relax in Cuba

We decided on the last minute to join this cruise and explore Cuba. The deciding factor was that we would spend an overnight in Havana. This provided an opportunity to spend more time in the culture. The hotel was beautiful. The experience was fantastic. Viking provided us a drive in vintage American cars through Havana. The driver was personable and friendly. After dinner we were then ...

Four months of traveling alone, both firsts for me (and for the Sun), along with eccentric eating practices, made me rather apprehensive as the embarkation date approached. Instead it was a glorious experience. The variety of the 50+ port excursions, my raison d'être, many ports one-dayers and/or new to Viking, not to mention the preparatory port talks, were well run, seldom a cattle-car ...

This was our third cruise with Viking and we chose this cruise because of our past experience. The ship is so conveniently designed for the comfort of the passengers. Our Cabin was quite comfortable even for a 122 day cruise. The steward were extremely attentive and took care of our every need. The food was very much to our liking and offered many alternatives for us.there were always excellent ...

Because the cruise went to Cuba a place that neither my wife or I have been to before. The trip was very enjoyable. The overnight stay in Havana was a real pleasure. The hotel was great and the show at the Tropicana was really good. They took us from the hotel to the Tropicana in a older convertible which was nice. The food that was supplied was good also. They claimed that the hotel was ...

We had always wanted to go to Cuba, and when Viking said it was going, we signed up. While there were obstacles along the way (Cuba nixing port call for us in Havana, unexplained medical problems suffered by American diplomats in Cuba, itinerary changes, U.S. Cuba travel regulation changes), we are very glad we didn't cancel this cruise. There was some extra effort in getting to Havana, but ...

Eyeopening in many ways

Also a first in many ways, one we almost missed. The chance to sail on a new ship with a new ocean cruise line was a draw. The opportunity to see Cuba at last was reason. The chance to go to Belize as well was a plus. When the Viking Sun told us we wouldn't be docked in Havana and would spend 3 days in Cienfuegos and had to ride a bus for three hours to get to Havana and wouldn't even go to ...

We were on the December 1-8, 2017 cruise to Cuba on The Viking Sun. Very beautiful new ship with really nice public areas, pool, spa, and fitness center. Like the river cruises, Viking did an outstanding job with the Cuba tours with highlight being and included stay at a very nice Havana hotel and Tropicana Show. Cuban guides were excellent! Reason for giving Average score for Dining and ...

Cuba cruise is excellent

We wanted to visit Cuba, and Viking offered the most comprehensive experience for a cruise tour. This was our second Viking cruise (the first was a river cruise in France), and we were delighted. The shore excursions (including an overnight in Havana) were well-planned and enjoyable, and the small boat was far superior to the larger boats that we'd experienced on previous ocean cruises. As on ...

Cultural Cuba Review

We chose this cruise for the opportunity to see Cuba and to enjoy another Viking Ocean Cruise. We'd been on the Sun's sister ship - the Viking Star - for a trip to the Mediterranean in 2016. We loved that experience and knew we'd feel at home on the Sun. Our itinerary was changed several months before our departure which we were not thrilled about. But Viking made its up to us in other ways. ...

Awesome Ship, crew, suite

We wanted to see Cuba. And, we were able to get a good view of the city, the countryside, and some of the people. The highlights were primarily three: One, the vintage cars, and our riding to dinner and the Copacapana was so much fun, Two, the owner's suite aboard the ship was TO DIE FOR! Exquisite, luxurious, with the most accomodating crew. We invited a group of CruiseCritic travelers to ...
