Amazon, a buzzing river without the mosquitoes.

The wonderful people and natural beauty of indigenous animals, birds, fish, plants, well worth the experience. The Regatta and crew come through every time, it is more like family, though we may be the family members requiring intervention. LOL Captain Hansen, Cruise Director Corey, and our Butler Rahman, were very personable, attentive to the guests, and thoroughly kept everyone updated. As ...

Outstanding service but disappointing food and shore excursions

This was a spur of the moment decision made 3-months before embarkation. A deeply discounted price and exotic destinations on the Amazon River got us to book. We were not even considering a 2017 cruise. My wife and I have been on 16 cruises, most on Silver Sea and Quark Expeditions--quite a range. We made one prior Oceania cruise on the Insignia that was quite nice, leaving us well disposed ...

Very good first cruise on Oceania

I chose the cruise based on itinerary as I do all my travel. The trip down the Amazon was great but not as good as I hoped. I have been on the Amazon in Peru and perhaps because I stayed in a lodge on the river it seemed to capture more of the "spirit" of the place better than the shore excursions I had. I liked most aspects of the cruise and would recommend Oceania to friends. The one area ...

Good cruise, but not for the price

We recently completed the 23-day Caribbean and Amazon Rivers cruise on Oceania Regatta. Our overall assessment of the cruise is that it was, in general, a good cruise. However, for the pricing, we were expecting quite a bit more. This cruise, along with other Oceania cruises, prices out at about $500/day for a standard balcony cabin. Regatta is an R-class ship and we have sailed on two other ...

Impressed with First Oceania Cruise

We chose the sailing because it was one of the few offerings going to Manaus on The Amazon River and because Oceania was offering major inducements as they were not full. We ended up with only about 489 passengers, which resulted in a high staff to passenger ratio and generally an uncrowded feel. This was our first experience with Oceania and we were impressed with the overwhelming ...

Poor shore excursions impacted our enjoyment

We had not been to the Amazon before and chose this cruise for its Itinerary. We chose Oceania because we have sailed with them before enjoying their high quality dining, and excellent service. In part, this experience was spoiled by a bad shore excursions. One was advertised as a tour in a luxury 4 x 4 jeep to remote parts of Barbados. The tour was actually in the back of a truck and was ...

We are fairly experienced cruisers having been on about a dozen cruises. This trip through the Panama Canal to Lima, Peru was our first cruise on Oceania. This was the best cruise we ever - and last summer we were on the Queen Elizabeth in the Mediterranean. The food was the best we have ever had. We found the ship very well appointed and the staff very hospitable. The excursions were high priced ...

Amazon Odyssey This was our fifth Oceania cruise, third on Regatta. The average age of the passengers on this cruise appeared to be a little older than the Oceania norm; this might have been because it was a fairly long one. Things started out rather badly, one of our suitcases was damaged between the dock and it's arrival at our cabin, it also ended badly, at the end of the cruise another of our ...

This was a thoroughly enjoyable cruise. The only problem we encountered was during embarkation when their computers were down. Fortunately, we came toward the end of this as some people had to wait about 2 hours before they could board. We began with a Cruise Critic meeting right after the lifeboat drill and met the people we had planned to join for our privately arranged tours. This was our ...
