Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

Must Be 2 NCL's

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Let me start on embarkation.( Who cares about Miami, not at all impressed) Total chaos was the order of the day. Was told to sit and wait, but yet people arriving 20 to 30 minutes after were boarding. NCL's employees had no clue how to handle the situation, one couldn't even find an outlet to plug in a PA. Finally get to the cabin. At first was pleasantly surprised. Remote for tv was taped ...

We flew into Miami from Wisconsin the night before the cruise. There's just no telling with the weather. Spent the night at the airport Embassy Suite. They were overbooked so we got a room with a different sleeping configuration than we wanted. I was crabby from travelling. The next morning I had to admit that this configuration worked better for my family anyway. Otherwise the hotel was nice, ...

First impression on the dock in Miami was extremely negative. I had been told that a max of 2 bottles of wine was permitted to bring aboard if I have a verifiable celebration during the cruise. The man and woman who told me that I was wrong with this information made me feel like a common criminal. The lady ever wrung her hands hoping to either confiscate the adult beverage or collect $30 from me ...

I was a first time cruiser on the Jewel for the January 17-24, 2010 cruise. My fiance and I flew into Miami the morning of the 17th from Boston. I had a friend who lives in Miami pick us up at the airport. She took us to a shopping plaza near the seaport and we walked around for a while and then had lunch. She dropped us off at the seaport just as it was being to rain. We left our luggage with the ...

This was my very first cruise and I have nothing to compare it to. I was traveling with 3 other single women who had all cruised several times before. I wanted to be able to come home and say "OMG, I had an amazing vacation". Instead, it turned out to be somewhat disappointing. So, without further delay, here is my experience. I boarded the ship without a hitch. Everything went smoothly. After ...

A good cruise but NCL continues to underwhelm

Just back from cruising the Jewel out of Miami on a seven day Western Caribbean itinerary. This was my second cruise with NCL and a bit better than the first but far from perfect. Hotel: Booked 3 nights at the Beacon in South Beach independently. Top location but the room very small (about the size of an NCL mini suite, yes even the bathroom) and expensive for what it was. Decent staff and ...

We traveled on the Norwegian Jewel from 12/27-1/3/10. It was our 1st time on the Jewel or on any NCL cruise for that matter, although we have already cruised on Royal and Carnival. We enjoyed the amenities on the ship. The staterooms were nicely appointed. The overall ship ambiance was great; the ship is well maintained. It didn't really seem crowded except for the pool area which we thought was ...

HOTELPACKAGE; Hotel Biscayne Bay, Miami with transfer to the ship. For review of the hotel; pls check TripAdvisor. The transfer was chaotic. We were about seven couples going to the Jewel, but a lot of people leaving for the Star. Our transfer left one hour late, of the people handling it there was only one lady who had some sense of organisation the others should not have been there. They even ...

I agree with most reviews. Except I did not like the ports of call. All in rough condition. Rotan was a very poor island. Beach was OK but I would take a cab to it. Do the snorkeling at Belize. Very good. Ruins was good at casta mayra. I heard the beach party was good also. Shopping is good. Wish we could have stayed an extra day. You know if they are going to cancel the private island ...
