Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Our kids (16, 13, and 11) as well as my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. There were plenty of teens due to Spring Break and many couples in our age category. The NCL employees were incredibly wonderful, professional, pleasant, and so very very hard working. You would think that 'freestyle' cruising would mean that you would not have the opp to get to have personalized service, but our ...

This was our 7Th cruise. We already had been on Carnival 4 times, and once on RC and Princess, all of them very nice. This trip was the longest, 13 nights! Embarkation was fine and quick enough. Once we got on board that is when we started noticing the differences. First of all, service. Not good, room service was often late, we usually left early and came back late and still the room was not done. ...

Pre-cruise: My Mom and I flew into Miami from Grand Rapids Michigan on Feb. 27th. We stayed at the Courtyard By Marriott Miami Downtown for the night. Our room was average and there was no continetal breakfast, so we were glad for the great price of $75 from Priceline. We did not want to wait until the port shuttle service began, so for a $10 taxi ride we got to port about 1030. We had printed out ...

A fun cruise with lackluster food on the NCL Jewel

My wife and I sailed on the Jewel the week of Feb. 7th. This was my first NCL outing and I'm not sure there will be a second. It was Superbowl Sunday when we boarded so the night before we planned to stay in Miami. Hotel prices were very high so we stayed in a smaller hotel near Homestead AFB. We rented a car but didn't sight-see much due to heavy traffic from Superbowl crowds. Soft drinks: Our ...

Review -- Norwegian Jewel, Western Caribbean January 10-17, 2009 with husband and teenage daughter. This was a first for us in several ways -- first time on NCL, first time doing a cruise with only carry-on luggage, and first time cruising out of Miami. we've cruised 6 times before with HAL, Princess, and Royal Caribbean -- Eastern Caribbean, Alaskan, New England, Western Mexico, and the Greek ...

We're a couple in our late 50's living in Portland, OR. As a native Californian, I need to get away in the winter and escape the rain, dark and cold. After two cruises of the Mexican Riviera onboard the NCL Star, we were ready for a change. We chose the Jewel because it is newer, and chose this itinerary because it was less expensive than an eastern or southern Caribbean cruise and also less ...

Jewel Jan 3, 2010 - Jan 10, 2010 This was my 5th cruise, 4th on NCL having previously sailed the Sky (before she was the POA), the Dawn & the Gem. It was DH's 2nd cruise, all on NCL. We had gotten engaged on the Gem two years earlier and were on board to celebrate that anniversary. Embarkation was awful. We arrived at the pier around 1 pm hoping to be behind all those people who had to be ...

This was our third cruise on the Jewel and she continues to impress us. Although over five years old now she still looks good to us. Very clean and well maintained. Note to NCL: We found the staff on the Jewel to be terrific. Very friendly and courteous and sincere in their desire to provide good service. In particular our cabin stewards were great - from day one always called us by name and ...

Sailed on the NCL Jewel from Miami on 1/24 for a 7 day, Western Caribbean itinerary of Roatan, Belize, Costa Maya and what was supposed to be the private island Great Stirrup Cay (GSC). However, because there was a tender problem with one of two boats at GSC, the captain took us to Nassau instead. If you've ever been to the private island you'd probably agree that this was a blessing - we had not ...

For sake of reference, this was my second cruise - my first was a 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise with Costa. Our cruise was a 7-night Western Caribbean cruise, with stops in Roatan (Honduras), Belize City, Costa Maya (Mexico), and theoretically Great Stirrup Cay (I'll explain theoretically briefly). In a nutshell, given the price we paid, we could not have asked for more. Was the cruise ...
