Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

Norwegian Jewel – A Comprehensive Review

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

I must say that if this were my first cruise I probably would not ever cruise again; fortunately this was my seventh cruise and I know that our experience on the Jewel is not the standard in the cruise industry. I should note that five of my cruises were on Royal Caribbean (who set the bar very high in my opinion). My biggest disappointment with this ship is that it has the potential to be well ...

One Way to Spend New Year's Eve

Just returned from New Year's cruise on Norwegian Jewel. The experience was mediocre at best. Sheets in cabin changed once. Towel animals everyone talked about never appeared in our stateroom. Menus repeated ad infinitum. Extra costs for everything. Felt like I was attending a flea market with all the raffles, art auctions, and special deals. The crew was there to upsell. The ports of call ...

I would like to tell you about mine and my wife's experience taking cruise on Norwegian Jewel January 9th January 18th, 2009 (Stateroom #9019, which we bought, but don't lived, and stateroom #5564 where we lived, but didn't buy). Our troubles began when we arrived in Miami from Minneapolis, took transfer bus from airport to cruise terminal. Terminal crew didn't allow us to go to the ship, ...

First things first. This cruise met and exceeded our expectations. It was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Even though we are big fans of HAL, there is a lot to be said for the convenience of the Freestyle cruise. NCL does lot of things right. The line seems to have a good understanding of their strengths and doesn't stray too far from them. The positives: Embarkation at Miami was quick ...

Background Information Six of us -- all close friends -- traveled together on the Norwegian Jewel ... an adventure for us New Englanders eager to take a respite from the snow and ice and cold of the season. We wanted to relax and enjoy a stress-free vacation in the Caribbean, and the concept of free-style cruising really appealed to us. We were not disappointed. Hotel Info We flew into Miami a ...

I am an experienced cruiser (14 cruises in 6 years, and a Diamond member of RCL's Crown & Anchor), but this was our first NCL cruise. I must admit I had no great expectations for this cruise (it wasn't MY choice- we cruise with friends once a year, and my DH and I were out of town when we voted on this year's cruise!), but any cruise is a good cruise, right?? So, going in with no expectations... ...

My husband & I took our 2 year old daughter with us on our cruise this year. This was my second cruise ever (first was in 2001 on Carnival), and it was a first for my husband and daughter. First, the positives: * The ship is BEAUTIFUL! Very tastefully decorated, colorful without being tacky. * The entertainment was very very good. We saw the Second City Comedy Troop one night (hysterical) and an ...

NOT A GREAT CRUISE

We arrived at the pier shortly before 12 noon, dropped off our luggage except for our carry-on bags. My son and I proceeded to the parking garage after leaving his fiancEe, her daughter, and my fiancEe at the drop off area. We waited for the shuttle, which never came, to take us back to the ship. We ended up walking back to the ship. We entered the pier, went to the security check point to find ...

For almost a year my family and I looked forward to this cruise. We traveled as part of a group of 17 family members and friends after a hard year full of grief and disappointment. I spent the entire summer in the ICU following surgical removal of a tumor from inside my heart, six weeks in a coma and then, shortly after my discharge, lost my mother to breast cancer. In short, we all needed a ...

This was my husband's and my first cruise; we are in our 50s, I'm retired, he isn't. We reside in the Pacific Northwest and I have traveled to Florida and the Keys, but hubs hasn't. Our trip by air was PDX/SEA/MIA via Horizon and Alaska Airlines. Everything went well and we took a shuttle from MIA to the Miami Hyatt which is located near the Port and downtown shopping area/bayside shopping mall. ...
