Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Partly because of price but not significance difference. Organization of boarding procedure in Miami - extremely poor - substandard. Service and employees - very good. Excursion vere very poorly organized mainly information to participants to and how to leave ship. Returning from excursions well organized. Entertainment - shows were one of the lowest quality we ...

This was my first time with Norwegian. Honestly, I was very disappointed with everything, from food to entertainment. For 15 days, we had the same menu in the Garden Café, in specialty dining venues like Chin Chin, Teppanyaki, Moderno,... and they were not that good either. On other cruise liners, the waiter/waitress normally came over asking for what we want for our drinks but not here. When ...

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

My wife and I booked a 2 week Norwegian Cruise through the old locks of the Panama Canal and came away highly disappointed. The biggest disappointment fell in two categories. First, almost all of the food served at the “Freestyle dining” restaurants was mediocre – at best. We frequently had to send food back because it was cold, or overcooked, or stale or simply not what was requested. Much of ...

Being my first review I'm a little intimidated. It seems that those who respond to negative reviews often do so by criticizing the author's grammar, sentence structure and overall literacy. I don't claim to be Ernest Hemmingway, but I think this is supposed to be about the cruise isn't it? We were not expecting a high-end cruise experience, just something similar to what we got on our first ...

This was my first time cruising with NCL; have only cruised with Royal Carribean in the past and was hesitant about trying a new one since Royal was top of the line experience. Pros: Stateroom: We had 2 inside rooms since I am a single mom with 3 children and this was more cost effective than a suite. The cabin was very clean. Food: There was a decent variety. Overall the food was mediocre to ...

This is the first time that I have written a review. I have been on about 18 cruises. This was my first experience with NCL. I will share some pros and cons. Pros: Stateroom: We had a nice balcony with great views. The cabin was very clean. The shower area was large. There was constant very hot water ( as hot at you want it)in the shower. There were nice robes. The storage space was adequate. ...

One Way to Spend New Year's Eve

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Just returned from New Year's cruise on Norwegian Jewel. The experience was mediocre at best. Sheets in cabin changed once. Towel animals everyone talked about never appeared in our stateroom. Menus repeated ad infinitum. Extra costs for everything. Felt like I was attending a flea market with all the raffles, art auctions, and special deals. The crew was there to upsell. The ports of call ...

My husband & I have cruised over 30 times with many different companies but had never taken an NCL cruise. We decided to give NCL "freestyle" a try. The ship and cabin were very nice. Freestyle dining was not free in most cases. Most of the restaurants had a surcharge of $10-$25 per person. We decided to have breakfast & lunch in the Garden Cafe and eat dinner in the 2 free main dining rooms. ...

Let's start, this was my 5th cruise. I have cruised with Carnival "3" times,Royal Caribbean "1" time and NCL "1" time. I wanted to try NCL because of the "freestyle cruising" at least thats what they call it??? You know "Dinner at Any O'Clock" what a joke.. First of all you must make reservations at least a day in advanced and you might get a table. the "Big Money People" people in the garden ...

NCL has cut costs AND quality

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

My husband and I (30s) traveled with my parents (50s) and our 14 month old daughter. We have been on six or seven cruises. This was our second NCL cruise and will be our LAST! We took the Dawn out of NYC in Sept/Oct 2004 and we loved it! ALOT has changed in 3 years. NCL has clearly cut costs and quality and it shows! This cruise was rather disappointing. THE SHIP: We got some inside information ...
