Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

Our family cruise on the Jewel

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

We left Indianapolis on AirTrans for Ft. Lauderdale Florida on the 20th of February 2010. Upon arrival we had already confirmed with SAS transportation to take us to our hotel in Miami. I cannot recommend this company enough, they were efficient and for just $13pp very inexpensive. We stayed at Roadway Inn Miami airport. The only reason we stay here is because they have free shuttle to the ...

We sailed on the Jewel on February 22 and would give the cruise a B+. It was our sixth cruise and fourth on NCL, and there were four of us including our 24 y.o. son and 11 y.o. daughter. We stayed the night before the cruise at the Epic in Miami, which is a beautiful hotel and a cheap cab ride to the Port of Miami. Here is my report card for this cruise: Cabin: B+. We had a 9th deck balcony. ...

First impression on the dock in Miami was extremely negative. I had been told that a max of 2 bottles of wine was permitted to bring aboard if I have a verifiable celebration during the cruise. The man and woman who told me that I was wrong with this information made me feel like a common criminal. The lady ever wrung her hands hoping to either confiscate the adult beverage or collect $30 from me ...

We just returned from a 7 night cruise upon the NCL Jewel. We had a fabulous time. There was 4 of us (two couples) ranging in age from 47 to 53. I have been on a total of 4 cruises (all with Carnival) and this is the first with NCL but I will be back. Keeping this in mind all my comments below are only between these two companies. Some things I liked on the NCL Jewel was the entertainment and the ...

BACKGROUND This was our second cruise, both on NCL. Our first was on the Gem out of NY to Florida and the Bahamas. PRE CRUISE We flew into FLL on Friday and took the "Go Airport Shuttle" to the Marriot Biscayne Bay. This was a slow process. We shared a van with several other people and the driver did not know how to get to every-one's location. It took about two hours from the time we claimed our ...

This was my very first cruise and I have nothing to compare it to. I was traveling with 3 other single women who had all cruised several times before. I wanted to be able to come home and say "OMG, I had an amazing vacation". Instead, it turned out to be somewhat disappointing. So, without further delay, here is my experience. I boarded the ship without a hitch. Everything went smoothly. After ...

Background and Travel to Port We are two young seniors who were looking forward to enjoying our 12th cruise with NCL. We live on the southern coast of Virginia, a region that rarely gets snow (ahem!!); however, to be on the safe side, our plan was to fly down to Miami the day before the cruise (Jan 30). January 30, 2010, will now go down in history in Tidewater Virginia as having received the ...

We flew into FLL on 1/17 and took the SAS shuttle to Port of Miami. Embarkation was relatively quick and very easy. Rooms were ready in the early afternoon. Our room was spotless, as was the rest of the ship. Staff is always around tidying, painting, dusting, etc. Ship looks brand new for the most part. We found the entertainment on the Jewel to be second to none. We loved Tim Kaminski both ...

Review -- Norwegian Jewel, Western Caribbean January 10-17, 2009 with husband and teenage daughter. This was a first for us in several ways -- first time on NCL, first time doing a cruise with only carry-on luggage, and first time cruising out of Miami. we've cruised 6 times before with HAL, Princess, and Royal Caribbean -- Eastern Caribbean, Alaskan, New England, Western Mexico, and the Greek ...

We're a couple in our late 50's living in Portland, OR. As a native Californian, I need to get away in the winter and escape the rain, dark and cold. After two cruises of the Mexican Riviera onboard the NCL Star, we were ready for a change. We chose the Jewel because it is newer, and chose this itinerary because it was less expensive than an eastern or southern Caribbean cruise and also less ...
