This was our second cruise on the Divina. We sailed the Divina when it first launched. That cruise was in the Yacht Club. This trip was more spur of the moment, and we grabbed a balcony stateroom a few weeks from departure. There is a big big difference between the Yacht Club and the rest of the ship. Embarkation: Embarkation was fairly chaotic. There were sufficient MSC staff, but no one knew where to direct passengers and some direction was simply wrong. We ultimately found the Diamond card line on our own. Upon check-in, we noted that our key card was without status and our dining was an assigned time on your ship. We had been upgraded prior to the cruise from assigned dining to anytime dining. We called this to the attention of the the check-in person. She indicated it wasn’t in the system, and we would have to take the issue up with customer service. Customer Service: Immediately upon bordering, without priority due to the system error, I went to customer service. The young lady at customer service indicated she had no record in the system of your upgrade, and I would have to go to visit the cruise consultant on black card status. I provided her with proof of emails showing the dining upgrade and showed her my Black Card, but to no avail. This was the beginning of two recurring themes on these issues: it was the “system’s fault” and I am not empowered to rectify your problem. Long story short, it took five days to rectify these matters. This included an email to the executive offices of MSC in Miami from the ship. That office was very responsive, unlike the ship's customer service. Ultimately Diamond status was restored and we were comped two specialty dinners for our hassles. Still way too much work on a vacation for problems that could have been resolved in five minutes. Cabin: Upon booking, I noted the availability of a cabin with an extra large balcony. There are a few of these on each deck. This is a great cablin due to the balcony. It is 3X a regular balcony and has both sun and shade during the day. We spent a lot of time on the balcony. The rest of the room was fine. Typical balcony suite, but in good condition. Dining: Time for my waffle story. We went to the MDR on the second day. I ordered Belgian waffles with berries. I was served an Eggo waffle with some jelly on top. The Eggo waffle was crusty on the ends with apparent freezer burn. The next day we go to the buffet for breakfast. Beautiful Belgian waffles made fresh with fresh berries. One would think the dining experience would be the other way around, but we learned our lesson. Breakfast would only be in the buffet the rest of the ship. Due to the comped dining, we visited virtually every restaurant on the ship. From best to worst: 1. Butcher's Cut: Excellent steaks. We dined their twice and the Filet Mignon was excellent both times 2. Le Muse the Yacht Club restaurant: Food was fine and service is off the charts particularly when compared to the MDR. 3. Villa Rossa: When the ship docked in Puerto Rico for the evening, you could choose either MDR that night. We went to Villa Rossa which was the anytime dining restaurant. The food was very good, particularly when compared to the Black Crab. 4. Buffet: The buffet was o.k. Food was prepared well, but not much variety from day to day. 5. Black Crab: If you are not in the Yacht Club or don't have anytime dining this is your MDR. We dine their two nights. The first night I ordered pasta and meatballs. This being an Italian ship I was expecting a great pasta dinner. What I got looked like Spaghetti O's. The meatballs were marble size and the pasta was overcooked. The second dinner was chicken parm. The chicken was made from frozen. There was no sauce on the spaghetti or chicken, and someone slapped a cheese slice on top which I guess made it chicken parm. Shows: The shows were average. We noted the second night these were the same shows we saw eight years ago. Fitness: I went to the gym everyday. The equipment needs a bit of an update, and several machines were out of order. Public rooms: The ship is still a beautiful ship, particularly in the atrium. It has, for the most part, been well maintained. Service: In addition to our customer service story above, I would rate service throughout the ship as subpar. It appears to me there are not enough crew for the number of guests on the ship. Our room steward had a large number of rooms to service. The waiter in the MDR appeared overwhelmed with the number of tables he had to service. The customer service desk renders no customer service. Value for Money: The cruise was an excellent price which is the main reason for my three star rating. If I had paid more for this cruise, it would be two stars maximum. In view of the good deal, I took several things with a grain of salt. If you are looking for a quick getaway from Winter, and would don't mind eating at the buffet and getting little service, this is the cruise for you. Read Less

Our embarkment was horrible. I felt like cattle being herded in to a pasture. No orginization. When we got on the ship we went to the buffet. I was almost knocked down by 3 employees and they didn't care they just looked at you like they didn't want you on the ship. We got our meal and I asked two gentlemen who were at a table next to us and asked if they could wipe off the table. One of them said "Are you talking to me". There wasn't much to do on the ship during the day unless you wanted to hang out around the pool, casino, or take dance lessons. Some days they would have Bingo which cost $20 for a card with 3 on it. Playing fill card in 40 numbers for jackpot of $25,000 or 44 numbers for $10,000. They never increased the numbers. We were on there and the Super Bowl was playing and in one of the day event papers they had that you had to pay $50 to watch it in the sports bar and you got 4 beers with that. I went to the service desk and asked about it and was told that it was no charge and I told her that it was in their paper and she got really nasty with me and told me "I work here I should know" I then told her that maybe she needed to call and ask. She did and found out I was right. I asked about something else and she was nasty with me again and I told her I didn't want to talk to her anymore. she informed me she was the head one there and I would have to talk to her. So I went to the other service desk and the lady there was very nice, she told me that you could watch it by the pool, your room, or in the Black and White lounge free. She even sent Champagne and choc. covered strawberries to the room. I also talked with the head one of the service dept. and he asked me to give him another chance to fix how we were being treated and offered us to go to the Steak house on him. We did take him up on that but I also told him that wasn't necessary.Everyone on the ship was complaining about how rude the crew was not all of them but alot of them were that way. If you asked for something else in the dining room you were told that they don't do that, not even a salad. I was sitting in the casino one night and a lady from England came and sat by me and asked me how I liked the cruise, I told her I was disappointed. She then began telling me she was in the lounge one night and the crew came in and opened the draft taps and let them run and then began drinking and one of the crew stood behind the bar and peed. I told her you have got to be kidding she said no and that she had reported it and they told her that they couldn't find out who it was and she told them the time it happened and told them to check the cameras. If they are doing this in front of cruisers, what are they doing behind the cruisers back. As I said our room was OK. Our stewardess was wonderful. The room is full of mirrors and red and black curtains, couch, and bedding. It could be changed it was too dark. When people were disembarking a gentleman fell and no one from the ship would help. The imigration officials finally came to his need. He was taken to the hospital. All they were worried about was getting everyone off the ship. When we were in line everyone was talking about how rude the crew was and how they would never cruise with MSC again.. I agree with them I can find some other was to spend my money. Sorry but this cruise line has a long way to go to service American Cruisers. Our waitress and waiter was excellent, but cann't say much for the Matridee. Read Less

This was our fourth time on Divina, and our sixth MSC cruise (we have cruised twice on Seaside). On all six cruises, we have been Diamond members (formerly Black Card) with the Fantastica Experience. We have always requested a table for two, and have had it confirmed (not "on request") on all five previous MSC cruises. This time, I called MSC twice to be sure we had a confirmed table for two, and they assured me that we did. When we got on board, I went to the Matre'D in the Black Crab dining room before the first seating. There was a sign that said something like "please see the Maitre'D for any dining issues". I told the Maitre'D that I just wanted to be sure that we had a table for two and asked him where it was located. He acted like I was bothering him, and was extremely rude. He said we were at a table for eight. I asked about the possibility of being put on a waiting list for a table for two, and he said "A table for two is impossible, take the one you have." We later found out from a waiter that we could have been put on a waiting list. Due to the very rude attitude of the Maitre'D, we decided to completely abandon the idea of dinner in the MDR, and we ate all of our meals in the buffet. One day, later in the cruise, we decided to try the MDR for lunch. We were the first ones in line, and we asked the Maitre'D (a different one) if we could please have a table for two. He actually sneered at us, as if we were asking for something we didn't deserve, and he didn't want to be bothered. He did give us a table for two, and we were surprised to see that there were many of them, so I don't know why he was so rude and dismissive. Now I will list the pros of the cruise, followed by the rest of the cons. Obviously, the attitude of both Maitre'Ds was a huge con for us. Pros: We enjoyed the Cruise Critic Party very much. Thank you Captain and staff. We think MSC does the best Cruise Critic Party of all the cruise lines. Our inside (square) cabin was quite spacious, and our cabin steward did a good job of keeping it clean. It was quiet, the bed was good, and we slept well. The shows were OK, although somewhat repetitive. The food in the buffet was OK, not gourmet, but we certainly never went hungry. Cons: In addition to not having a table for two for dinner, and having to eat most meals in the buffet, there were also some other troubling issues. We noticed that the hand sanitizing stations were usually empty, or just didn't work. On two occasions, we did see staff stationed there with hand sprayers, but many times, there was nobody monitoring this. We brought our own hand sanitizer and used it at all times. The first two times we went on Divina, the casino was non-smoking. Now, smoking is allowed there as well as Deck 7 outside. We noticed that most of the people smoking on Deck 7 were crew members. They were also smoking in the aft public balconies, which were supposed to be non-smoking. Smoke permeated many of the public lounges to the degree that we could not sit in them. These included La Luna, and a large part of the Piazza del Doge. Debarkation was a complete disaster. Although we had "priority debarkation", we chose to walk off with our suitcases in the first group. There was no priority there, and we found ourselves in a huge line, snaking all around the ship (and stranding us in the smoky casino). There were no MSC staff members monitoring this process, and passengers were cutting in line, and many fights broke out. For all of these reasons, we doubt if we will cruise on the Divina in the future. We will try MSC again, just not this ship. Read Less

I was prepared to have not-so-good experience after reading reviews and because we had tight budget and it's impossible to return the tickets so I flight to Miami with heavy heart, especially when i was a planner for our family trip. But luckily, the trip went smooth, we had so many good memories, the cruise experience was way beyond my expectation. First of all, I'm not experienced cruise traveller, this is my 2nd time. The first time was with Carnival Cruise. It was fun but the ship was soooo crowded and people were drunk from day to nights, It's forever to wait for table at restaurant, buffets are not better when people forget the definition of "line". 2nd time with MSC Divina, I think we're less clueless and well-prepared this time, so we can enjoy every moments on the cruise, adding the fact the staffs on cruise are well - organizing and friendly. I heard many ppl complain abt the cold-face busters and housekeepers, as a ppl working in service industry, I understand how hard those guys have to work, especially on cruise, roughly around 11 works/ 7 days a week can't make you smile and hospitalized all-the-time. But every time I pass by and say hello to them, they warmly say back to us. After all, machines still have bugs, people can't be perfect all the time. I wish ppl less being rude. Aside from ppl, experience with foods , shows , casino, and excursions are quite well. The shows are enough entertaining. Casino is small but we had lots of funs there so it's ok. Foods are the another thing that receive so many complains but I don't understand why. The kinds and tastes are way more than ok. Most of dishes in the buffet side are repetitive but they have " daily special" counters and we always find something we want. Fine-dine is also good, yes , the food is not gourmet, it looks "gourmet", but even it's not gourmet, it's still good-taste. Fine-dine menu changes everyday and fit the theme of destination, so we always have something new. We booked only 1 excursion because we do have some bookings by ourself before the trip and that only one total satisfied us, from their well- management to their choice of affiliate service. If anything would be improve, i wish the docking time is longer, we only have 5-8 hours at each destination. Maybe they have lots of negative comments about late arrival and long disembarking time so they shorten the docking time and lengthen the sailing time? Idk. We always arrive destination earlier than expected time. maybe we were so lucky. Read Less

price and destination was our choice for first time on a MSC cruise. Sometimes you get what you pay for and this was one of those times. We were able to transfer points from Carnival and go aboard as Gold members which we thought was a plus as well. This only got us a plate of fruit you could get at any buffet and a tote bag. There was a spa hour offer but it was for sauna and relax area only. If this had been our first cruise ever, maybe we would have been more impressed. But since we are avid cruisers it was a different story. Ship was beautiful and well laid out. Lots of space and staff was friendly overall. Food was bland and basically the same everyday. Lots of pasta with different sauces. Food was usually warm and never hot at buffet. Dinner was good but same story here. No lobster, even though it was a 7 day cruise. Getting on and of ship took over 2 hours each. We were he 4th group to exit. Announcements were made in about 7 different languages, which were mostly ignored. Kept being told this was how Europeans cruise. Very laid back and boring with lots of drinking. Shows were filled with ballroom style dancing, slow music and man/women trying to sing American music with accents that made songs sound quite different. If you did not know the music, you would not know what was being sung. Tina Turner with an Italian accent is not the same! Acrobats and aerialist were fabulous, they made the show worthwhile. When we saw there was only singing we chose to not go. Activities onboard were not interesting to us. Chair hogs claimed chairs several hours ahead and disappeared. No one moved towels even though it was evident that no one had been there for some time. Child was allowed to pee in shower area. Europeans are rude, at least the ones on this ship were. Cutting in line, talking during announcements, coming in late, loud, etc. Music played at pool area and elsewhere reminded us of riding in an elevator. One slide on ship, but if you were not certain level you could not use. Gelato was free on some ships but not on this one. Orange juice only available at bars, where you had to pay. There were some good things as well. The price was great for a balcony room that was beautiful and spacious. Room was cleaned by simply placing card in door lock. Although room steward never introduced himself. Servers at dinner were great as well. They tried very hard to make up for inadequacies of food. Destinations were good especially Tortola. Since we had balcony we enjoyed our own time setting and enjoying the privacy and views. Maneuvering around the ship was easy and open floor plans. Activities during the day were repetitious and not very interesting. Met several new friends which was a plus, they had same opinion as we did. If not for price they would have complained although some did anyway. We did our own thing most days and still enjoyed the time and experience of destination. We would do again, but only if same great price and new locations to visit. Again, if this had been our first cruise maybe we would have been more impressed. Great cruise if you like slow pace and lots of pasta. If you are looking to relax and spend a lot time people watching. Oh I almost forgot, one plus...pizza was really good! Like I said, will we do again? Probably if it is cheap enough. Otherwise, Carnival and Royal are our choices for fun/food/shows cruises. They also need to work on getting people on and off better. Lots of lines and people not listening to directions. Read Less

We booked mainly because it was an Italian Line priced right. After a long check in and a waiting period at Port of Miami, the days that followed provided us with many activities and venues including: music, variety shows and other forms of entertainment at the various lounges and beautiful theater. The menu comprised of a variety of international fare with some occasional Italian choices. We dined mainly at the Black Crab restaurant and our maitree D Chrijstian Pavela was outstanding. He provided us with personal service and was very accommodating despite the fact that the restaurant was very crowded. There was constant entertainment at poolside especially on days at sea. On our next MSC voyage we will take advantage of the various activities offered that we didn’t have a chance to take part in. The cabin was a good size in the Fantastica category with adequate storage. The cruise ended with a fantastic show in the theater and a fun talent show by the cruise staff (a must see). Overall it was a positive experience. Read Less

We selected this cruise for the dates, price and ports of call. The on board was painful - delays, long lines, disorganized Once on ship, cabin was ready and food was being served so all good on that front . Paid for wi fi but failed to explain to turn on and off (what technology is this?) - so depleted allowance within 48 hours - front desk unwilling to make any adjustments so I ended up paying an extra $66 US to have some wi fi for rest of cruise Food was very average ! Boring! NOTHING extravagant ! We ended up eating twice at sushi restaurant on board - so more spending! Too the all inclusive drink package and our room had free room service BUT if you want any of your "free" beverages delivered to your room via your "free" room service there is a charge !!!! Read the fine print ! Very very disappointing. Again front desk refused to make any concessions. Took the 5 picture package - sorry I did because the photographer was Stevie Wonder - horrible pictures looked like taken by an amateur with a bad camera Gym - non functioning machines - no towels at times Everything good is extra and adds up - 4d Movie ($7 US for 5 minutes); Gelato costs money, room service even with free package costs money, breakfast in room costs money, etc Staff was nice but did huff when needed to make cappuccino at the bar because it meant actual work and not simply pouring a drink Billing errors found - onboard credit was lower than signed on for, billing at bars we did not use etc Leaving ship was another long long long process and felt like ship was throwing us out as soon as possible !!!! This was my first MSC cruise. I booked this cruise because it was a great deal for a balcony room. I did my homework and not only read the reviews, but also watched numerous YouTube videos that people had produced. Having booked 2 balcony rooms 12147 & 12149 at such a great price, we thought that if the reviews were correct and the cruise was so bad, then we would just remain on our balconies and enjoy the sea. We thought that if we go in to the cruise with very low expectations, we would get excited at the smallest things that brought us happiness. Let me begin with the embarkation, this I will give a bad review, The line was out the door and once inside, we waited in a long snake around line. Then after that line, we went upstairs and waited in another line to get our room cards. The whole process probably took around 2 hours. Yes, I would have preferred being on the ship and enjoying the food, but I was standing in line. Fortunately, we found people all around us to talk to while we were waiting and found that most of the travelers had also booked a MSC cruise for the first time. I don't know what is a good time to go, but we were there by 12:35. Once on the ship, we were blown away by the beauty of the ship. It is soooo beautiful. The buffet area goes from mid all the way to the back of the ship. The ship always smelled clean, and not with a bad chemical smell, it was very pleasant. So beautiful! We got in our room right away and loved that we could open the balcony door and the door inside the room to connect the two cabins. The cabin was bigger than most cruise ships that I have been on. The balcony was much smaller with only chairs and no loungers. The bed was very comfortable! I have back problems and sleep in a special bed at home and I never had a problem with the bed hurting my back. We unpacked our suitcases and there was plenty of room to store them in the closet. The TV was very small and there were not very many channels to watch, but we weren't there to watch TV. The movies were all $7 to rent which I found excessive. So we didn't watch any movies. There are 2 electrical outlets by the vanity for 110 and 2 for 220. Several reviews mentioned bringing a power strip and I didn't, I should have. We bought one in Puerto Rico, our first stop. I had a plug that couldn't be plugged in to the wall because the mirror was too close to the outlet and my plug as too big. Take a power strip. The bathroom was just as everyone mentioned. Everyone mentioned that they were upset that they ran out of toilet paper before and that there were no tissues in the room. There were tissues in our room and we never ran out of toilet paper. Our cabin steward was amazing. He had our room clean all the time! The dinning room was beautiful, the food was not so great. If you want specialty food that you would normally receive on a cruise ship, you had to pay for it. The NY strip was on the menu everyday so we could get that. The first wait staff we had was underwhelming and we felt as if they figured it out because after 2 days, we new ones that were great. You can still order as many dishes as you like. My husband one night ordered all of the starters and 2 entrees and 2 deserts. He was so full. You do have to pay for anything to drink other than water, juice, coffee. They had a nice Italian night performance one night that we really enjoyed. The buffet is just that, a buffet. It reminded me of being at Golden Coral but with a lot more people. The only difference was that it was always kept clean and there was such a great variety all the time. I am a very low sugar eater and I never had a problem finding plenty to eat. We also never had any problems finding a table. I took the advice that someone shared to have someone go and find a table and wait while the others are getting food. This works well. We finally figured out that there is always plenty of seating all the way at the back of the ship so that is were we ate at the buffet. They have pizza and sandwiches all night! So after the show, we would head up for a late night snack before heading to any bars for entertainment. The shows.....the entertainers are very very talented! The singers and dancers were amazing. However; by the last night, I had had enough of the same people doing basically the same thing just with a different flavor. They had so much to do everywhere, everyday. When we stopped at a couple ports, we didn't even get off the ship, we checked out the ship while everyone was gone. It was great. The ports, they were just ok. The main issue we had was that we were not in any port very long to do much. By the time we got off the ship, we only had a couple hours to do something. It would have been nice to have a whole day in port. Disembarkation was a breeze! They have such a great system set up to get people off without everyone crowding everyone. I felt the people at the terminal working were not friendly at all, both getting on and getting off, but welcome to Miami. I will not sail from Miami again. Rude people everywhere. My final words. We have lived in Europe and would move back to Europe any day if given the chance. A lot of the comments that I read, people said that the Europeans on the ship were very rude and that the ship didn't cater to Americans. I felt the Europeans were way nicer to us than the Americans and we ARE american. I also felt that the cruise staff did a very good job catering to Americans. Watching some of the Americans around the ship made me embarrassed to be one. I loves hearing all of the different languages and felt very comfortable around everyone, even the ones wearing very little on the pool deck. We all loved getting to know so many people from different countries. Such nice people. Once more thing, you can go on a cruise thinking that everything will be all bad and let everything make you feel that this is the worse cruise ever, because only you can decide to have fun and enjoy it. Anyone can pick something apart and find fault in everything, but it is not MSC's fault. They have a class act ship and a class act crew and we can't wait to go on our next MSC cruise. Read Less

Portions were sufficient & tasty. There was always something going on concerning activities whether in port or sea days. We had a balcony Fantastica class. My only Complaint was the itinerary. Arrived too late to do much sightseeing in San Juan, PR. There was only an hour of daylight left by the time we disembarked & boarded for a local tour. Also Could have used more time in St. Maarten. Island is beautiful. Plenty to see & do but Since on board was at 1 pm, we took a tour of the island & back to the ship. Enjoyed the local everything when out driver stopped for a few minutes of shopping! 2nd time on Divina. 3rd MSC Cruise. The price is always right on this cruise line. Hats off to the captain & everyone on the Divina team! Will certainly cruise again with MSC just with a different itinerary! Read Less

Freeport not very good. Wanted to be able to got o beach not just a place with shops and bars. Soda should be included on the trip especially water. Should not have to pay extra for that. I originally chose this cruise due to the good pricing and the way the ship looked online. I have been on Norwegian, Carnival and Royal Caribbean and wanted to try something different. I am glad I did !! Although I saw some negative reviews online, after reading them I realized most did not apply to me or my wants so I thought I would take a chance and try it out. The ship was amazing, it was hard to ask for or want anything more comparing the great pricing with the look of the ship.. it was more than I expected. I am 95% happy with the entire cruise, however I will tell you in my opinion the only needs of improvement. The food was good, not amazing.. but good (pizza great). The ship, cleanliness and staff were great. The customers were great as well, not many little kids and very nice adults that keep to themselves.. not like cruises going out of Galveston where it is a lot of kids and/or rude people. Lots of Europeans which is a nice change from the standard cruise lines. A few more comments: Casino is nice.. my only complaint is that I am a big Video Poker player and they only had $1.00 machines which equates to $5.00 a hand. All they need to do on the GameKing machines is program them to play .25 or .50 cents along with the existing dollar options and it would be perfect. They also did not have a big blackjack selection, only a game called "dream 21" which was a different version of blackjack at $10.00 a hand is pretty steep. The room cabins were very nice, TV was kind of small and it did not have FOX news, only CNN which is a problem for I guess half of America.. lol. I purchased the upgrade drink package and I can say, this is the best cruise I have ever been on regarding rules of the drink package. They did not mind if I ordered double drinks (unlike other cruise lines) with water and anything else you want. This was a big perk of the cruise for me. I did not enjoy the ports, but I cannot blame the cruise for something I knew about prior to booking. Freeport Bahamas is horrible with nothing really to do, they are still having economic problems from the storms. Ocean Cay is great if you just want to lay on a beach, but if you are like me and like walking around towns and interacting with locals.. it is not that kind of place. These are all very minor issues, overall the cruise was amazing and I cannot wait to take another one. Read Less

We chose this trip because we had never cruised on MSC before and the dates worked out well. Gorgeous ship, great cabin and wonderful trip! Nice and quiet - no crazy announcements whatsoever and we heard no noise from neighbors! The ship has a very cool, relaxed, retro Italian feel. The overall vibe was much more relaxed and sedate than other cruise lines, which was fantastic! No crazy twerking or loud music all day. The food arrangement at the buffet took a while to navigate as everything is at stations, but we never waited for anything in line, which was great! We did have a big problem with the internet charges - apparently MSC charges both (or asll) parties on an account when a package is purchased. My husband purchased an internet account and in the end, we were charged $ 50 plus dollars each - especially bad since I brought no internet usable devices with me, This policy was NEVER explained upon purchasing, so beware! -- This was only the 3-night cruise to Freeport and Ocean Cay; back to Miami to disembark on January 31st. -- I chose it because the price was too good to pass up! I went solo this time, just to try out the MSC line and see their brand new private island, Ocean Cay. I am Platinum with Carnival, and have sailed Royal Caribbean 3 times. MSC did the status match for me when I put in the request, so I am a Gold member with them. (Got a fruit basket, MSC logo gift, etc) I flew in to Miami the night before, and stayed at Clarion Inn & Suites MIA Airport. It was comfortable and convenient. Good shuttle service from airport, and then $10 pp shuttle to cruise port the next day. Plus, easy walk to a good Thai restaurant down the street. Cruise port was very empty, being a Tuesday. Our ship plus one small ship there. So, went right in, showed ID, and went through security around 11:50am. Stood in line around the maze for about 25 minutes to get room key. Not too bad. Was on the ship by about 12:30. They said rooms would be available by 1pm. Perfect timing. Ship is very clean, shiny, and fancy inside. Nice atrium with stage, glass elevators, sparkly staircase, etc. Really cool art around the ship. Great big sports bar for those who are interested. Funky couches and chairs in lounge/bar area on the way to the theater. Big screen TV out by the main pool, and an area for activities. (I watched the Ring Toss game). Saw a couple ping pong tables. Nice water slide towards the back - not huge. Looked like fun. Too cold for me this trip! I found so many places with empty lounge chairs out on the sun decks. My favorite spot was all the way in the back, maybe Deck 16 (?) above the "Garden Bar". Had the place to myself - and the windows blocked the wind. One of my other favorites on this ship was the Piazza del Doge on Deck 6 Mid. There is a big case full of snacks, fruits, and desserts (included with your cruise). There were lots of empty tables every time I stopped by for a cookie or slice of cake, and the girl working there was always smiling and nice. When you go to the Buffet, walk around to see everything first. There is delicious pizza over on one side. There was an Asian / Indian section towards the back - I got Tandori chicken and Cumin rice that first day. YUM!! There's a whole grill section for burgers, hot dogs, and fries. I never would have seen these items if I had just gotten in the first line. * Go to the show at the theater each night. * I almost didn't go, just because of the name, "Autumn In Paris". Didn't sound like anything I would enjoy. It was GREAT!! There were acrobatics, slapstick antics, singing, really good dancing (including a Tango). So glad I went. Dinners in Main Dining Room were ok - just what I expected. Not horrible, not awesome. Wait staff was nice, maybe spread a little too thin to give really great service. They never introduced themselves or learned our names, but were considerate. Ports were great -- the second reason I chose this cruise. In Freeport, I took a shuttle to Grand Lucayan Lighthouse Pointe for a resort day. (Booked it on my own) Fun day! Ocean Cay Marine Reserve, MSC's new private island was just as beautiful as the pictures! Luckily, the captain was observant enough the night before to know that it would be too windy to dock the ship that next morning when we were scheduled in. So he took us straight there after we left Freeport, arriving around 11pm. By midnight, the storm started blowing and raining, there was lightning & thunder! It was awesome to see from my balcony! Woke up in the morning to blue sky & lots of sunshine, but still quite windy and even a little cool for my standards (!). Passengers started offloading onto the island around 10am. So many wonderful beaches and swimming areas to choose from. One has lots of activities, music, hammocks. Another is secluded and quiet. Some are set up for families, another is for Yacht Club guests. You can walk across the bridge, get lots of pictures. The lines at the lunch pavilion were quite long when I walked by, so I grabbed a cheese burger & fries at one of the food trucks (included with your cruise) and sat in a beach chair to eat. I was pleasantly surprised - It was amazingly fresh & tasty! Then I swam out to one of the floating platforms, even though the water was SO cold! Totally worth it! ** Great beach day ** You can climb the lighthouse (for an extra charge) if you'd like. There is a light show from the lighthouse at 9pm, and another at 10pm. You can see it just fine from the ship, or be out on the island that late, since back-on-board is 10:30pm. I chose to keep my bag and do the Express self debarkation, because I was hoping to make a 10:15am flight out of MIA. Easy and smooth. Caught a shuttle (after they filled it with 12 people) for $10 pp to the airport, and was there before 9am. Good cruise. I would go on MSC again; want to take my husband to Ocean Cay! Read Less

Recently went on a cruise from Miami Jan 28 and then Jan 31 on Divina(back to back).. stayed in cabin 10035 on first leg and then 13203 on second leg. Everything was perfect..(After this review MSC should make me a spokesperson) We have dropped the other cruiselines and gone with MSC..this was our 6th MSC cruise..but lets talk this latest cruise. It was just fantastic...the mix of passengers were diverse..from all over..and that made it exceptional. The staff were great...as long as you talk and smile and show them respect they will return the same..after all they are not slaves. The animation team was the best we have ever experienced..and we have close to 20 cruises under our belt. Anna the cruise director has assembled a winning team...she is ably assisted by Carlos,Samantha,Natasha,Antonio and some others whose names escape me....plus the 2 dancers Karla and Ramon. They are just wonderful and in my opinion ready to assume cruise director roles on any cruiseline. Book a Divina trip and experience first hand what animation is all about. The staff around the ship were just as excellent and they always had a smile and helping hand for us. The buffet staff were par excellent...again the servers behind the counters and waiters. the girl Crispy was a delight and did her job with a smile always. I can go on and on and name them all but rest assured they were all great. From a food standpoint the buffet was where we ate and the food was just great.I never trust the restaurants...we dont like to be waited on nor do we like to wait for food. The shows were just super..rich in talent and at times very energetic and full of vibes. The only draw back is the sense of entitlement that some passengers feel they have by putting the elevators on PRIORITY..MSC must discontinue this practice...no one is above anyone.....and if those passengers feel its their right to some sort of privilege its best they stay in their rooms...tch tch tch. The room attendants assigned to us were very diligent and mannerly and helpful.Andy and Tan..Two very hardworking individuals. Bottom line is we respect the staff and will never expect servitude attendance nor attention.....and as such our cruises go very well.. And MSC has been delivering great cruises and great service Read Less

MSC Review Arrived at the parking lot by the E terminal. It was not right in front of our terminal but just a short walk. (Paid 66 bucks for a 4 days cruise) We dropped off bags and entered terminal at 1030. There was a line for check in and we were checked in by 1115. We were giving boarding zone 11 and sent to the waiting area. At 1130 there still were no boarding numbers being called. Numbers started being called at 1140 We were on the ship by 12. Easy package you can’t pay the difference for premium drinks. They charge you full price for anything over $6. As far as drink options for the easy drink package, there were tons. If you bring your own cup they will fill that cup up for you. Red Bull is also included as well as bubbly water. You can get vitamin water up in the spa bar outside the gym. Great to take to the room at night for morning hangovers. We got it during the day so I’m not sure how late that bar is open. The only issue I had with the easy package was I couldn’t add just a shot of baileys to my coffee drinks. However there is a cold espresso drink with baileys in it that’s included. I found that a little annoying but not a deal breaker. Another tip is find Maria the bartender. She’s up at the pool bar during the day and then the Jazz bar at night. She was top notch! We tipped her a dollar each time but we were very well taken care of. The drill started at 4pm and finished around 430. We did take life our life jackets and some put theirs on but we did not. We had room number 8243 which was a balcony room towards the aft of the ship. We were surprised to have a bath tub (figures this was a kids free trip). There was some mold in the corner but not bad. We could feel the engines really bad when pulling in and out of the ports but nothing while we were sailing. Food options Pizza in the buffet was amazing. Good buffet choices. We only did the sit down dinner once and it was just ok. Not as good as Royal or carnival in my opinion Breakfast buffet was very standard and seating is hard to find around 930-10am. We did not do the sit down breakfast. Food venues were limited to the main dining room, buffet, and a small snack station but pizza was my go to. There was also a sports bar that served food at night which was also one of my favorite places to eat. The McCarthy salad and wings were great!! I got those items every night. Entertainment We tried the theater show on day 2. It was some sorta singing and acrobats but it wasn’t very entertaining and we left after 10 mins. We usually spent our time in the casino and had luck with the goldfish game and playboy game (both in the smoke free section). Paid out pretty well on minimum bets. I think we came ahead in the end. Ocean cay Lighthouse bar is cool. It’s right by the water. We went on a day that was super windy so some of the beaches did not allow swimming which made finding a spot to snorkel impossible. They had a buffet with some food choices but we ate on the ship in the buffet instead (had some of the same choices). We went back out to the beach around 8pm and sat by the fires and enjoyed the 4 min light house light show. There was also a food truck right on the beach with burgers and hotdog and fries. When ordering drinks on the island you have to see one of the waiters walking around outside the bar area taking orders. They take your order and relay it to the bartenders. Pretty quick process once you figure out who takes your order. I found it hard to find something to do during the dinner hours if you decide to not do the sit down dinner. Where as with Royal Caribbean there was also something fun to do throughout the entire day. We left Ocean Cay at around 11pm and we’re pulling into Miami at 545am Embarking was not as bad as other reviews made it out to be. Got into the exit line at 730am and we were outside by 8am. And that was also with the little hiccup we had while exiting the ship. We used a debit card for our on board expenses and we had a $200 limit and had an $80 balance. My husband was pulled away to another short line to pay his balance. If you set up your on board expenses with a credit then they just charge your card. Overall not a bad cruise. It was a nice 4 day kids free cruise. I read a lot of bad reviews and went into the trip with lower expectations but I would sail MSC again if the price was right. Read Less

3 day cruise was to try Yacht Club. Definitely book the Yacht Club. Elegant, quiet, and a fabulous value as it includes all drinks everywhere on the ship. Getting on the ship makes the whole Butler experience worth while. SO fast! And your luggagearrives quickly too. Your Butler experience will depend upon your butler. Ours wan't great, but others were. They make the sail special, as they guard your seats at shows, they go with you to skip all lines, etc. It was even better than we thought, except the specialty restaurants have changed. It would make us try a different ship for variety of restaurants. Still good, however, The Eately restauaunts used to draw raves, but they have been gone for over a year. The Butcher's Cut Restaurant is where Italia used to be. It is really good, but substandard atmosphere. We laughed at all the great breads we had all over the ship, but not toasted in the Yacht Club, It is hard to get them to toast my burgher bun, or my morning toast. We can live without it, but it was funny. All in all, go Yacht Club. Read Less

Cruise was booked on previously booked divina cruise. Service has gone downhill. Each staff member at reception has a different answer to your question. Books are removed from library due to virus possibilities but guests refuse to use sanitizing and staff does not enforce. Guests maul food in buffet and staff watch. Entertainment is excellent as are the excursions. Officers tend to reprimand staff in front of guests. Timing of port visits not the greatest . We arrived in san juan after 1700 left after midnight. Most shops and venues other than bars were closed. Did not feel safe walking streets in darkness. Multiple languages are spoken by staff and most announcements are in multiple languages which is very respectful and helpful. The smoking policy is not strictly enforced. There is a lovely outdoor bar near a pool at rear of ship which is a smoking area. The morning walk scheduled around the deck is through this smoking area. To enter main theater you must walk through the casino which is a smoking area. Read Less

Was in the Yacht Club on this Western Caribbean Cruise. We were there for a jazz-themed cruise, so didn't go on any excursions (don't like the Caribbean, actually). Providing this review on the shipboard services. Yacht club provides expedited embarkation and debarkation, which went quickly and smoothly. Also has separate door for leaving and rejoining the ship at ports, which was always quick and easy. It offers exclusive access to a pool area with hot tubs, bar, and a small buffet at breakfast and dinner. It also provides access to the Top Sail lounge, open 22 hours a day and with small food items most of the time. You get a butler and dedicated concierge service, as well as exclusive access to the Le Muse restaurant. Most of the Yacht Club amenities were excellent. The Top Sail lounge, concierge and butler staff were stellar - very nice people, who were also effective and efficient. Our room was cleaned well and unobtrusively. After a quick request for different beverages at the beginning of the cruise, our refrigerator was always fully stocked exactly as we wanted. Concierge was happy to help us with anything we needed, and the staff at the Top Sail lounge was quick, friendly, and as they grew to know us started anticipating our requests. I don't have enough nice things to say about them, and if this review was about the Yacht Club experience only it would be 5 out of 5. The mixed part of this review, the negative part, is for Le Muse restaurant. It isn't about the quality of the food, or the thinking behind the menus. It is for the preparation of the food, which frankly was terrible. The food was anywhere between under-seasoned and woefully under-seasoned, thus leaving it anywhere between bland and tasteless. In addition there were numerous cooking errors made, pretty much every day. Some examples: Burger and fries - burger overcooked and dry, fries undercooked and rubbery, bun not toasted Pasta with scallops - one of the better dishes, but would it have hurt to spend two minutes searing the scallops? Steak with porcini mushroom sauce - I had two tasty little mushroom morsels in my sauce; the rest was essentially brown water. My wife had only brown water. Another day steak ordered medium rare; came out blue. Replacement cooked properly, though of course underseasoned. The day after I complained, they slightly overseasoned my pasta to compensate; the foie gras was still bland. Carmelized banana dessert - had an overwhelming, bitter acrid taste - completely inedible. Obviously badly burned - how did this get out of the kitchen? Octopus salad - seared octopus, red onion, jicama, arugula. A thoughtful and intelligent ingredient mix - served bone dry. I called over the waiter - "this is missing the dressing". He says "It's supposed to be served that way". I reply "It says lime cilantro dressing on the menu". Took awhile - when he came back he had four more pieces of octopus on more salad, with maybe a couple of ml of dressing. We were on their private island that day. He says "The salad is dressed aboard ship before delivery, so we have no more dressing". He had tried to scrape whatever there was out of the bottom of the bowl, which made for maybe one bite with dressing. To make it even more infuriating, the one bite with dressing was delicious. There were more examples, but you get the idea. We ordered room service several nights for an alternative, as the pizza was uniformly delicious. To me, preparing second rate food properly, like any chain restaurant can do, would have been preferable to taking top quality ingredients and turning them into the bland cardboard we were consistently served. Interestingly, another couple with us in the yacht club got themselves reassigned out of Le Muse into the main restaurant (where you have an intimate dining experience with 700 of your closest friends). However, they said they had cruised a year earlier and the food in Le Muse then was excellent, however the head person then had been reassigned to the main restaurant, where they said the food this year was tasty. Unfortunately, it seems that left cardboard Carl in charge of Le Muse. We didn't spend a lot of time around the ship. It was clean, and in the bars we went to the drinks were consistent from one to another. Didn't try the themed restaurants (at extra charge). Probably should have. Other entertainment around the ship - pretty typical. Hopefully they get the food thing sorted out. Otherwise, the quality of the cruising experience really depends on what's important to you. I probably wouldn't go back unless I knew they solved the execution problem in the restaurant, but if the cruising experience is more important to you, I would heartily recommend the Yacht Club staff on the Divina. We chose this cruise because of the ports offered. On being to Panama. Thai was an 11 night cruise. The ship was elegantly decorated. The crew was not supportive at all. Room was that of other cruise lines. Lacing cabin clean. One perk I always enjoy is the towel animals offered on other cruise lines. Not here. If you are looking to rest and just enjoy the ports this is the cruise. there are few activities for days at sea to keep you occupied. There were times we woke up to the smell of fumes in our cabin. The shows were ok if there was singing and dancing but the comedy shows lost a lot because they were done in at least five languages. I have never walked out of shows before but did twice on this cruise. The water park deck was always so packed there was no place to sit. There seemed to be more guest than seating anywhere on the ship. The food was the same for the entire cruise. Very little variance in menu. Not the best and at times cold. The dining experience was different. The waiters seemed lost most of the time and because frustrated often. By then end of the cruise they seemed more relaxed with us but they could use more training. Or their fault. Food in the main dining room at night wasn’t much different from the buffet. Just different atmosphere. Embarkation and debarkation was easier than most cruise lines. No problems there. We bought the easy drink package which was good enough. Limited selections of beer but we were able to get Coke’s and bottled water. That was a plus. We booked one excursion through the Panama Canal and it wasn’t a disappointment. Just getting off the boat which was a nightmare and back to ship. Poor planning of the company but overall very good. Ocean cay was a nice island but still very new. It was cold on the beach which wasn’t the fault of MSC but not enjoyable. The island has great potential. We got what we paid for and couldn’t expect much more. We took this cruise because of the ports. I would never cruise with this cruise line again because the service was sorely lacking. You make the best of what you get and it wasn’t great but overall the friends we made helped make the cruise. There were not many American speaking passengers and they were very rude. I have never come across such rude people on a cruise and the crew was not much different. They acted as if they smiled their face may crack. If this is how they plan on treating their customers they won’t be in business long. I have told everyone I know who cruises to avoid this cruise line. They were actually thinking about it. They said they would look elsewhere because of my experience. Read Less

Embarkation Miami Jan 12 Security opened an hour late, which meant standing in line a long time. Once inside the terminal, there was a waiting area reserved for "black card: guests, which included us because MSC matched our RC Diamond status. Stateroom Our cabin is great. Glass shower, glass shelves plus cabinet storage in bath. Bed is comfortable by ship standards. Linens are in better shape than those on recent RC cruises. Art work everywhere is tasteful - more elegant than Celebrity or Royal. Balcony at rear of ship is small, but great location. Dining room. I was expecting below par food, and was pleasantly surprised. Selections were good, and include favorites such as lamb chops, duck breast, shrimp cocktail (no escargot!). Lobster bisque, but no lobster tail on main dining room menu. There were upchatge options. Specialty restaurant We received complementary meal, and chose Butcher's Cut. Our complimentary meal consisted of several choices for an appetizer, entree, side, and dessert. Great warm rolls and flavored butters. The filet was a large 6 AM oz. Very tender. Hubby's double lamb chops looked great. Hearts of palm salad was perfect. Shrimp cocktail consisted of four large shrimp with cocktail and tartar sauce, presented nicely. My chocolate lava cake was freat! The cake perfect temperature and the vanilla ice cream cold enough to turn the chocolate drizzle on the plate to a crunchy candy. Hubby"s cheesecake was large and tasty. The only water option was mineral 2ater for a fee. We noticed some guests carrying in bottles of drinking water. Theater Shows are great! Singers wonderful. Fun acrobats. Even a 4:30 show on day 4 that was a short version of La Traviatta. The ship has lots of be beautiful lounges. Our favorite is the Black and White at the aft of the ship on deck 7. We can read there during the day near big windows. The piano lounge was another good place, but had some foot traffic and smoke from the casino on sea days. Pools look good. Did not bring swimsuits. Departure, customs, and Uber to Miami airport all went smoothly. We got a really great deal on this rear facing balcony on deck 9! Read Less

I am a veteran of 25 cruises now and wanted to expand my horizons and explore a different cruise line so, I tried MSC based on photos of the ship. BIG mistake. I should have read the reviews first! Embarkation was a disaster with nobody seeming to know what was going on. This ship appears beautiful however, like the screen actress godmother of the ship, Sophia Loren, she is an aging beauty queen. The ship is not maintained and is showing her age. There are light fixtures in pool area that are held in place with duct tape, the carpets are worn and dirty and many of the finishes show signs of neglect. I chose the Aurea experience in a one bedroom suite. Although the suite was spacious, it was extremely dirty. Upon check in, there was urine on the back of the toilet as well as pubic hair. There were no glasses in the bathroom or the living room. The carpet was dirty as were the wood paneled surfaces (you could clearly see the body oils from previous guests smudged on all of the surfaces). The best part, opened a drawer and found soiled clothing including underwear from the previous occupant. When I spoke with guest services, they sent someone to "deep clean" the room. Not sure what that meant since all they appeared to do was wipe the toilet, remove the clothing left in the drawer, and provide glassware. The staff seemed to care very little about service and was completely rude at times. The PA announcements were frequent and...you had to listen to them in 5 languages. They were even blasted in the "fine dining" specialty restaurants during dinner. So much for ambiance. The entertainment was pathetic. Many of the treadmills and other gym equipment had out of order signs on it. The housekeeping cart was parked outside the door to my suite almost 24/7. The food was mediocre at best. I found myself eating a lot of pizza which, was about the only thing they were good at. We purchased the premium beverage package which provided many top shelf brands however, when you ordered a drink, it seldom included a garnish. The bartenders seemed not to care at all about what they were serving. The crew is disgruntled and several times, I overheard conversations which included their dislike for their working conditions. I have cruised with every major cruise line and have NEVER had an experience as bad as this. NEVER AGAIN with this poorly managed, non-caring, horrible cruise line. I could go on but, I don't have time to recap the entire experience. Bottom line, spend your hard earned money anywhere but with MSC. I wish I could give zero stars! They should be ashamed! Read Less

We purchased this trip in November/19 for $159 per person, plus taxes, fees, & gratuities. We felt it was fabulous value for money. Soliciting of tips from the baggage handler at the dropoff point at embarkation was annoying, but didn't spoil out trip aa we had already planned to tip him. Embarkation was very slow. We arrived in line(outside) at 12:55pm, and finally stepped for on the ship at 2:50pm. At this point, you are greeted with the beauty of the main atrium, and staff soliciting excursions, drink packages, and photo packages. We went to our room, dropped our bags, and set out for food and exploring the ship. I felt the ship was well labelled and easy to navigate. The buffet had plenty of tables and a decent selection of food. There was fresh fruit, hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, a variety of fresh pizzas, pastas, desserts, and whatever the main meal of the day was. The juice was watered down. It basically was coloured water, but we jist dealt with it. The exception was the orange juice, which is only available at breakfast. Other then that, it is not real juice, just juice flavoured drinks. We ate dinners at Villa Rosa. Tables are very close together, and although the food was decent, it wasn't the gourmet food I had heard I would be getting on a cruise. It was still good, and I sure didn't skip any meals. The balcony cabin(10137) was mid ship and surprisingly spacious.I had purchased a brand new set of strong magnetic hooks that we had on our walls. By the end of our cruise, 1 had magically "disappeared" from our room. We decided to use room service e for the 1st time for breakfast on our last morning. I filled out the form, and had it on the doorknob before 2am as instructed. When our breakfast didn't arrive(we had to be out of our cabin by 730am on disembarkation day) I called room service. I asked if our food was on the way yet, and I was informed that they don't do room service on the last day. Lomg story short, we didn't get any breakfast that day. I chose this cruise for the price. My husband and I cruise an average of once per month. This was our first time on a MSC ship. I can't believe the amount of reviewers who wrote to complain about the dumbest littlest things. Yes the ship is crowded after all its sold out. Is it dangerously overcrowded, duh NO! Food- limited but cooked well and tasty. Great pizza! Cabin-Spacious could be cleaned better Entertainment- Theatre show very good. Entertainment staff Superb!!!! Lots of interaction with passengers, much better than Royal Caribbean. Very nice Cruise Director. Much to do around the ship, day and night to keep you busy. Destinations- Same as other lines. The cruise lines don't govern the islands they choose as destinations or Holidays. Yes, some will be nicer than others. Excursions-Book your own, cheaper. Check out the internet for other excursions. Step out of the box and explore. Give yourself ample time to get back to the boat. Ship appearance cleanliness - Excellent Private Island-Fun! Fun! Great Snorkeling As soon as vegetation kicks in, it's going to be a beauty. Parade was fun. Fire pits on beach were a very nice romantic touch. The lighthouse shows and Luna libre party were spectacular. Shop items were a little high but not out of the norm. The quality of the merchandise was very nice. Yes there were flies on the island by the. food area after all they were cooking hamburgers. How is the cruise line at fault for this? Should they have placed several staff members near the food area dedicated to swatting the flies? I have seen flies inside and outside the ship on various cruises. Come to think of it, I have seen flies in my backyard when I BBQ. Here's a simple solution cover your food. We are booked on their Transatlantic and Greek Cruises and looking forward to it. It's all about attitude. Don't sweat the small stuff. Life is too short! If you expect luxury at bargain prices, this is no the cruise for you. I for one am happy. to pay less and cruise more! P.S. If you are worried about getting sick and. that there won't be enough sanitizing gel, as a safety measure bring your own. Helpful tip bring a small can of lysol and spray your cabin down. Read Less

I am retired and an avid cruiser. I have cruised on most of the major lines. This was my first trip on MSC. I was attracted to it by the price and my desire to try something different. I had read a lot of really terrible reviews so I arrived at the ship with some hesitations. The load in was a headache. Long lines mostly in the sun. My mind is drawing mental pictures of a ship that looks like a 50's B movie. When we arrived on the ship, I found how wrong I was. I was surprised by the beauty and quality of the furnishings and decor. The Italian flavor of the vessel is everywhere and quite tastefully done. I particularly enjoyed the mosaics in the pool area. My second fear was that I would be spending 5 days eating tv dinners. So my first stop was at the buffet. There were not as many entrees as on some of the other cruise lines, but the choices were adequate and preparation and taste was on par with any ship I have been on. The pizza bar in particular was phenomenal. Ok so the ship is beautiful and the food is very good. I bet our stateroom is going to be the size of a closet. Wrong again. I had booked a room with a window. But when I arrived there, MSC had given us a free upgrade to a balcony. The room was spacious by cruise ship standards and nicely appointed. The bathroom even had glass shower doors. The staff was pleasant, maybe not overly so but I don't take a lot of pampering. The entertainment was a bit of a throwback to earlier times. Acrobats, aerialists, dancers and singers. It wasn't Royal Caribbean Broadway, but these performers were at the top of their game and their enthusiasm was obvious. The shows were lots of fun. (One caveat, the Cruise Director and Captain talk too much. You can arrive at the show 15 or 20 minutes late and still have time to be bored before the show starts.) Lest you think I see the world through rose colored glasses I will tell you service in the Dining Room is slow. Very slow. Plan on two hours for dinner. The Buffet is a good alternative for quicker food but will be crowded to the max. Here's a tip, if you don't mind a few steps, there are tables in the adjoining pool area with a lovely ocean view and less noise. Also the public restrooms are small for a ship of this size. You may find it easier to return to your stateroom especially if you are in a hurry. : ) The beaches at the private island are gorgeous. There is some coral so it is best to have water shoes. If you like to snorkel go along the rocks you will see some good size fish. Don't miss the laser light show of the lighthouse. It is a genuine stunner. The plants are recently planted and not what you would hope for in a tropical "paradise." If you have problems with flies near the food trucks. Cover your food with a plate and step away before you eat, or take a short walk back to the ship and eat there. So was it a perfect trip? No. Every cruise has its own little headaches. But to be honest I recently came off cruises on Royal Caribbean Symphony and Celebrity Edge that cost a lot more and delivered a lot less. Would I cruise with MSC again? I already have booked two more cruises with MSC. That should be recommendation enough. My advice to you: When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade, add Tequila. Call it a Margarita, and book another Cruise. Read Less

This was our first MSC cruise and the best way to put it is that it is very different. First of all, it's a good thing that they are able to incorporate multiple languages in every announcement. It really helps show that they are an "international" cruise. But it gets VERY long. As for entertainment, they introduced EVERYONE. I mean EVERYONE, from the wait staff all the way to the head chef. I fell asleep in the introduction TWICE and woke up clapping both times. The performers were definitely talented. They had very good vocal ranges and dances were good. As a native New Yorker, I have the "New York" syndrome; nothing compares to our Broadway. But it was still enjoyable. Our cabin was good for the most part. We had a balcony room, 12078. It was a corner room so the balcony was a little bigger than most. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. No majo complaints. The bathroom had this stink that would not go away. Every time we would use the toilet, we would hold our breaths until we put the seat down and leave. The attendant told us it's because we didn't allow him to clean it. We had the "Do not disturb" sign for two nights. But even after he cleaned it, the smell was still there. It did not get better or worst throughout the trip. When we were leaving to go to Ocean Cay, that very stink is at the exit of the boat. You can smell it and OMG it was so strong and disgusting. Overall, we enjoyed our stateroom and would recommend it. It was quiet and near the front elevators. Dining was definitely not up to par. We read reviews that MSC was understaffed and we totally saw that. You would always see people walking around going places but where are they going? Our server and waiter knew our names but that's about it. I'm used to interacting with them, listening to them talk about their hometowns. It's okay that we didn't bond over this trip but isn't that what cruise life about? It would take FOREVER to refill any drinks and water. Our dining experience was not the best. We opted for the first sitting which was 6 pm at the Black Crab. We come on time, sit down, and stare at an empty table. Sometimes there will be bread, sometimes not. It would take roughly 15 minutes later to take our order. Then another 45ish minute for the starter to come. Total dinner time every night would take over an hour and a half. We shouldn't complain because we overheard some people waiting for 2 hours and a half for dinner. Which is terrible especially if you have kids. The food was seriously not good. We sat at table 486 which was right next to the kitchen and our food would come out lukewarm. Maybe because they had to wait for everyone's dishes together? So we learned a trick on the last night. Order a second entree and that comes out HOT. The best meal we had was the LAST night. The Ocean Cay's burgers and hot dogs. They were HOT, crispy and JUICY. Omg, it was so fresh. The fries were crispy golden and SALTED. And Black Crab's short ribs (We had seconds). Best food on the WHOLE trip. So that added an extra star to this review. Otherwise, it would have been just 2 stars. It really was 2 stars for the overall experience. The buffet food was .... That's it (...). No comment. Besides the fact that it was the same every day. We heard that the pasta and bread are supposed to be freshly made on the ship. The bread was hard and I only had ONE decent pasta on the trip. I kept trying the ones from the buffet and the Black Crab. I really tried to give them a chance to show me what real carbs are all about. We felt like the bread from our local Domino's would be better and I don't even care for Domino. Sometimes the utensils weren't even clean. I found food remains on forks and knives two times. This is not their fault but it's not a plus on my vacation. Breakfast at the buffet is a complete BLEH. I finally understood what the reviews meant. There was NOTHING. All there was are scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages and potato wedges. And it wasn't any good. C'mon. So we tried our best to wake up early every morning to eat breakfast at the Black Crab. It's the same food but it tastes more bearable. Even though the menu was the SAME throughout the trip. The best thing we ate was the hash browns. They were crispy and good. TIP: The hash browns at the buffet are located at the Kid's Corner. And when you find them, load them up because they DO NOT refill it. Once it's gone, it's GONE. You think about it. One positive thing was that gelato was cheap. It was $4.60 for a large with two flavours. We did the Chacchochen Ruins at Costa Maya and this was really fun. Our tour guide, Lorenzo was great. He was super informative and friendly. He showed us where to get the best shots and answered everyone's questions well. We even stopped by the local village and bought $1 pineapples. The fruit is already prepared in a plastic bag and they come up to your car. They were not acidic and you can eat the core. Definitely recommend stopping to get pineapples. Ocean Cay was a lovely beach day. It was super relaxing and GREAT food. The only downfall is that the water was really cold. I don't think we saw anyone stay more than 10 minutes in the water. Eventually, you would see everyone fan out and scavenge for warmer temps. It's still developing so hopefully I would one day come back to MSC to see it. It's nice that only one ship docks at a time so it's not overcrowded. The most productive thing we did on the ship was the casino. Hopefully, we lost enough money to gain some points for our FUTURE FUTURE MSC cruise. Some cruise photographers were super aggressive. It's like they have a quota everyday. We actually bought the all-inclusive photo package which was all photos and digital. We are very happy with it. For our next cruise, it will not be MSC maybe in Europe. Embarkation was a mess in Miami. We arrived at 12p and did not get onto the ship until 2:30p. Also our cabin wasn't ready so it was a lot of roaming around the ship with our luggage. We met some people who took Divina multiple times from Europe and it was easy breezy. Maybe that's what we will try next if we plan a European cruise. Read Less
