I chose this cruise because it was going to Cuba. Through no fault of MSC, they could no longer go. I still decided to keep the cruise. I wished I had canceled. I have cruised about 10 time at this point, and expected the norm with this one. First thing, the ship is old, there were missing numbers off the elevator buttons. There were areas on the boat, that you could see the water in the carpet. My brother went to use the men's room on the 5th floor and all the urinals were taped off and could not be used. The thermostat in my cabin was hanging off a nail. The plastic holder for the remote was coming apart. The one in my daughter's room completely fell apart so there were screws and the small plastic parts that her 17 month old son could have easily swallow. The food was horrendous. I literal spat the piece of Salomon out of my mouth. We stopped eating in the dining room after the 3rd day. The café, while there was crappy food there as well, we were able to find something to hold us over till we got to land. The ship on two of the stops, only reached the island at 12 noon and we had to be back on the boat by 5pm. The last stop, they had ferries taking us to land, we did not get to the island till minutes to 2pm and had to be back by 5pm. I never saw the cruise director, the sail away party was some canned music. The highlight of the cruise was getting to the islands The staff was mostly Hispanic and would either did not understand when you asked a question, or acted as if they did not understand, they did not smile. I had one guy speak to a gentleman right in front of me, but then held his head down and walked past me. My sister was given a glass of champagne, it was never removed from the room, we left the ship and the glass was still in the bathroom Read Less

Was keen to go to Cuba and they were the only company who went there at the time I wanted to go. A number of very good staff but the rest of them were lazy and average. The girls at the front Customer Service desk were swamped with complaints and were fabulous. Hard for them to make excuses for the hundreds of complaints people had. Met some great people in the first week, and some more great people in the second week - all who had the same stories of their cruising. Ended up getting off the ship 3 days early. Unheard of really. It was just disgusting. When I returned and approached MSC with the photos, they offered me a 20% discount off a 7 days ex miami Caribbean cruise within 2 years as compensation. Are they serious? Would I spend $3000 on airfares to fly to Miami to travel with them ever again? NO. My recommendation to other travellers is to go on a cruise with better reviews. Good thing is, I had 7 weeks away, stayed in lots of different places and each of them was great, clean, comfortable, and I got what I paid for - except MSC!!! Read Less

This was the worse cruise I have ever been on. The food was horrible. The service is horrible. The housekeeping was mediocre. The only good part was the kids club. My son was treated well and he met so many other children from different countries. The cruise was just like it was not organized. Several people had things stolen out of their luggage and no one was responsible. Customer service was really nasty and demeaning. one couple paid for an excursion and they are not from the US. The customer service told them that they did not pay for it. After a few days after we left that island they found out that they did pay for it and they were not accommodating. They wanted to pay the couple in US dollars and they were from Britain. It was just ridiculous The ship shook like the engine was going out. I could feel the vibration of the engine. It sounded like the carburetor was going out. I will never ever use this cruise line and I am going to tell everyone else not to use it. Read Less

We chose this cruise due to the stopover in Havana, which, although not the fault of MSC, was extremely disappointing. We are from the UK and only received notification of this a few days before we were due to leave. The pathetic $400 OBC no way compensated for the dreadful ports which we replaced Havana. This cruise was priced higher than the regular Islands and Costa Maya and Roatan are both resorts we have visited many times before. Having booked and paid for flights for hotels pre and post cruise we could not cancel without suffering huge penalties. However, we decided to make the best of it. Unfortunately, it was very difficult to do so due to the general attitude and culture on the ship. I was horrified by the cruise drill which was the most badly organised and shortest I have ever attended (on 40 plus cruises)! As a vegetarian I often have problems aboard US ships but this took some beating! All the food arrived lukewarm and best and we experienced long wait times. I don't think this was the fault of the staff , simply that there were just too few of them. On the second night I realised every vegetarian dish was Indian food. I do love Asian food but not everyday! I was told that was the menu that they changed for the US based cruises. One of the Restaurant Managers, whose name I won't mention on here but probably should, was bustling around doing absolutely nothing. He said he would take personal care of my food and proudly presented me with a place of overcooked vegetables with a spoonful of brown rice. I asked if I could have ravioli the following day, it's an Italian ship after all, this arrived overcooked dry and with no sauce. I couldn't eat it. This restaurant manager starting getting stroppy with me and I had to tell him to change his attitude as it wasn't appropriate. The good thing about this cruise that it was only for a week! I strongly urge readers of this to look at other options before booking this cruise line We will NEVER sail with MSC again. Read Less

We are one of the people who were affected by the travel ban to Cuba. We had booked a 7 day cruise with MSC for ONLY the reason that they offered a 2-day stop in Cuba. Of course, it wasn't their fault that travel to Cuba was banned 2 weeks before our cruise but while other cruise companies offered full refunds and other great options (like moving your itinerary AND getting 50% off your cruise), MSC's "fix" was not anywhere as generous. We could have changed our itinerary (but with no fantastic perk like 50% off) and seriously considered it as other than Cuba we were not excited about our itinerary and had just done a similar itinerary last year with another cruise company. However, my husband was excited about a 48-hour excursion we had booked and paid for, so we decided to go ahead and give the cruise a try. The excursion, which was the only reason we continued with the cruise after Cuba was off the table, ended up being cancelled at the very last minute and the excursion desk at MSC was rude and cold in their response to our disappointment. At one point, my husband and I had 3 excursion employees shaming us, holding up a print out of their excursion policy and making us feel terrible. And this was after my husband had been very calm, concise and articulate ~ we weren't attacking anyone, we just wanted to salvage our cruise experience. No one at MSC expressed any concern for our disappointment and instead blamed us and made us feel stressed. We did try to keep our chin up and found a way to enjoy our time together but we will never use MSC again and encourage others to think twice before spending your hard-earned money and vacation time with a company that works with an attitude that does not put customer's enjoyment first and foremost. My husband truly feels our vacation was wasted :( and that is not a great feeling. On the bright side, the day-to-day staff on the boat was kind and helpful. They always had very good fresh fruit and bottled water was complimentary with our drink plan. The other vacationers were wonderful and many where as disappointed as we were so we at least had some sympathetic ears. The boat is small and not good for people who suffer from sea-sickness. The boat is also older, shabby and not-updated. The food was mediocre and sometimes less than mediocre. We heard many great things about other cruise companies like Royal Caribbean, Princess and Norwegian (even Carnival). All of these companies offered generous compensation to customers who had booked itineraries to Cuba and helped disappointed customers adjust to the unexpected and disappointing changes in their vacation plans. Save your money, increase your chances of a positive and fun cruise experience ~ Do Not Use MSC! Read Less

Decided to try MSC because I liked the sail/stop schedule. Big mistake. HUGE. The ship belongs in the bone yard. Very tired. Balcony doors don’t open. Air conditioning doesn’t work. TV and Internet is a joke. Entertainment is horrendous. The food is terrible all the way around, only second to the deplorable, disingenuous leadership of the ship who have no interest in hearing about your issues let alone resolving them. Avoid this ship and cruise line at all cost. It was a complete and utter nightmare from making the booking to settling the bill. This company should stick to transporting what they are good at and it’s not people. Service is clearly not in their DNA. I would not sail with MSC again if it was free. Traveling with a group. We all share the aforementioned sentiments. It was so disappointing to meet up each evening as a group and to have nothing but horror stories to share. I don’t typically write bad reviews but felt compared to share. This should have been one of the most memorable trips for the books. Unfortunately, the memories will not be as I’d hoped. Read Less

I Chose this boat because of all the ports it went to. First of all they give you like a 6 hr window for each island, but I said let me just go for it anyways. Embarking was smooth and pretty easy but to disembark it was a hassle. First of all the ship got to Miami like at 7am which everyone typically is sleeping or just waking up and all you hear is the loud speaker already telling you the process of leaving the boat and what color tags goes first ( I would have liked to wake up to a nice announcement of the typically thank you for choosing us and blah blah) but they basically are rushing you out. The boat on some floor smells like a wet rag like moldy.. My bathroom smelled like sewer or maybe the pikes were old. Overall the cabin was okay and my housekeeper was "GREAT". The food SUCKED, Your best bet was the pizza, hamburger, and hot dogs on the ship. I had the basic beverage package which included some alcoholic bevs but not all the ones I wanted to so I upgraded and they charged me a extra 15% service fee for it apart from the service fee that they charge at the end of your stay. For the drinks I had to say please put enough alcohol in it because u can tell the alcohol was watered down or idk but it just tasted like juice to me (I am not a heavy drinker) but everyone who came with me on the cruise said the same thing. Without exaggerating maybe 80% of the staff was pretty rude or maybe they just didn't like working there. A good handful of the staff that stood out just because they were so attentive and nice. (Deck 11 by the pool, Deck 5 the Bacardi bar, some of the waiters in the "Marco polo") On Sunday morning the crew members had a fire drill exercise and ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL of the announcements were made in the passengers cabins which was VERYYYYYYYYYYYYY annoying. I could keep going on about complaints but I think I've pretty much covered all the things that bothered me the most. Hope this is helpful for people who are considering Armonia. Read Less

I did read the reviews but I choose this cruise because of it’s Cuba itinerary. Most Americans reviews don’t like MSC because it’s too European. While I find that to be the same for me, there was other negatives which were more for my experience. These negatives were the following: Food (worse cruise food ever and I have been on a lot of cruises). They had the same items for every meal time at the buffet. The main dinning room wasn’t any better. I tried the speciality dinning $35 plus gratuity (Surf and Turf) wasn’t any better. I had the lobster and it was too much salt. Wasn’t any better. I eat pizza and ice cream a lot. I loss weight on this cruise ( first time ever). I made sure I eat off the ship at every port stop ( which I don’t normally do on a cruise). Staff and Service - the worse I have experienced on a cruise so far. The feeling I got from most of the staff was unfriendly honestly. I honestly believe that MSC needs to take a page from some of the other cruise lines that provide the totally package cruise experience ( just saying) The ship - although dated I didn’t mind that. I liked the design at the aft with the outside public balcony area. The buffet area too small, very difficult to find a table to eat most times. Cabin - I had an interior cabin which very okay except for bathroom too small. MSC doesn’t provide the cruise experience I am looking for when I cruise, so no more MSC cruise for me in the future. Worse cruise experience. Read Less

We chose this cruise line for the itinerary. But that did not make up for the terrible experience we had before and during the cruise. We had many smaller issues, but I'll stick with the three biggest. #1 - I paid for the cruise upfront, but MSC didn't book me that way and I didn't notice they hadn't charged my credit card. Shortly before the cruise they emailed that they had canceled our booking. When I called, they said I hadn't paid and this is their standard procedure - to just cancel with no notice. Luckily I was able to rebook. #2 - On two separate phone calls, they offered me a cot for my toddler to sleep on. When we arrived in our cabin it was not there. In talking to the reception desk staff, one man told me my daughter should just sleep in bed with my husband and I. After quite a bit of complaining, another woman was able to move us to a room with a pullout couch. #3 - We paid for transfers between the airport and port, both ways. Getting to the ship was fine, but somehow our transfer back to the airport wasn't logged correctly and they had no service for us getting back. I'm still working with them to get reimbursed for services not received. As I said, there were other smaller issues from general cleanliness of the ship to small rooms to internet issues, but these three really made the experience pretty bad. I will not cruise with MSC again, and I would not recommend them to others. Read Less

Just finished an MSC cruise on the Armonia to Cuba...I will never be sailing with MSC again. The ship is looking "long in the tooth:" dirty stained carpets, worn finishes, and just all-around looking tired and old. Cabins didn't have enough outlets, and the crew - while generally "fine" - was not exceptional in any way. In short, there was nothing on this cruise the blew my socks off: not the entertainment, not the accommodations, not the food, not the service. Everything was just kind of "meh." The food in the restaurant was unexceptional at best, and thrown-together at worst. Buffet: way too small for the size of the ship. Entertainment, especially the shows, was mediocre compared to other cruise lines. None of the crew - including the entertainment - appeared happy to be on this cruise, and everyone was simply going through the motions. Worst: we sat on the tender boat to get back on the ship for 45 minutes because their re-boarding process is INCREDIBLY inefficient. MSC isn't ready to do battle with Carnival PLC's cruise lines or Norwegian or RC. Won't be making this mistake again...! Read Less

Ironically, MSC never sent me a post cruise survey, and I am truthfully not surprised. The first big red flag for me was the cleanliness of the ship. My stateroom was not as clean as it could have been. I had to take my sanitizing wipes to wipe down my room, as their was some sticky substance on the desk. I also noticed that the buffet table servers on this ship NEVER wipe down tables after people are done eating in preparation for the next group to sit down. They would always remove the dirty plates and cups but NEVER wiped the table down with a sanitizing substance. Cleanliness is not a priority on this ship! The bed was like sleeping on a cot. The air conditioner in my room was also not working, so 5 out of 6 nights I woke up in a night sweat. The thermostat said 65 degrees, but it was more like 74 degrees. This was extremely frustrating, especially after being in the Cuban sun all day. Second, the food is gross, and there is minimal variety day to day. The lasagna looked like dog food, smelled like fish food, and tasted unlike anything I ever put in my mouth. Just gross!! The food in general had no seasoning and very bland. The Margherita Pizza is really the only thing that has potential. Other than that, you will be eating pizza with Tuna or Vienna Sausages on it. And the soups come in many unique flavors, such as Peach Soup…Never had it in my life, but it was disgusting too. Even the French Fries lacked flavor. The piglet roll (never heard of it, and no it is not a pork loin) tasted like a wild boar. Bottom line, unless you want to eat a salad 3 meals a day for 6 days, you will be VERY hungry by the end of this cruise. The hostess' in the dining room had terrible attitudes. If you asked them anything other than the location of your table, you got a nasty response. #horriblecustomerservices You will never know what time it is on this ship. I only saw 1 clock on the entire boat, which is by the bar, outside the buffet. No clocks even on the elevators. I flipped through every channel on the television looking for the ships time. Usually the a cruise director will even include time changes in the announcements… NOPE. The casino is also horrible. One of the first red flags was there are no ticket cashing machines, which means the only way to get your money is to go to the cage. This is a sign that they never plan on paying out any money, and you know what… they did not. I played almost every night of the cruise, and never saw 1 jackpot being paid out. I also played (and lost) over $2,600 in this casino and still had to pay for coffee. Only casino players understand my complaint here. Most ships will at least comp small purchases such as coffee if you play over a certain amount in their casino. Instead I got 30% off my next cruse with a $200+ credit to use within the next 9 months. Why would I pay 70% for a cruise to have a dirty room, starve, only to loose thousands of more dollars? No thank you! Only plus for this cruise were the shows and the shore excursions. The production shows were nice. But other than that, nothing else to do on this ship except play BINGO for $20... and that only gets your 1 game. The shore excursions were nice, and I feel I got great value for my money. Bottom line, pay the extra $200 to go to Cuba on another cruise line and enjoy yourself. Read Less

My family and I took recently took a cruise with MSC and the experience we encountered was the worst I've ever had. To give you some background, we took this particular cruise to celebrate a family members retirement. Altogether it was 37 of my family members on this ship. The first day on the ship we walked in the room into the bathroom and there was a strong urine smell ( by the way the urine smell never went away, later to find out the housekeeper supervisor said "these rooms on this side of the floor have pipe problems... all the rooms on this side smell like urine as if this would make me feel better). So we put our bags down and ran to enjoy the ship and family! Fast forward, It wasn't until approximately Friday sometime my 19 month old son became sick(101 fever). My wife and I couldn't figure out why and or what was going on. It wasn't until I was sitting in the restroom trying to gather myself because my son was in pain and there was nothing I could do, I noticed a large amount of mold. There was mold all over the bathroom. On the walls, in the shower, and on the floor, the same floor I placed my son when my wife and I shower and were we washed him. There was also a hole in my shower in which stuff was coming out as the shower ran. This hole was full of rust. I didn't see the hole until I started looking for answers because the shower curtain hide the hole when pushed back (open) You can see it until you close the curtain and your inside( this also leads me to believe house keeping dont clean the shower because they would have saw it. The shower curtain was filthy and it was red at the bottom of the curtain probably from laying against the the rust hole. I also noticed while looking a rusted hole in the ocean view window that was leaking some type of yellow fluid. I believe it was water mixed with the rust but I'm not sure. The room I was in was completely unfit for a guest. From the dust on the water bottles it was clear the room hasn't be used or those water bottles been there for a while. So as the cruise went on I complained. My complaints went unanswered. I was told someone would come fix the issues and no one ever came. The front desk was very helpful but the house keeping department was not. The house keeping supervisor was not! In fact the house keeping supervisor told me that because I complained I got everyone in trouble. He told me if I have a problem dont go to the desk just tell the housekeeper. The way my family and I was treated by MSC was utterly disturbing. To add to all this mess the cruise ship missed the port of Jamaica. We planned to see our family in Jamaica spent money on a cater just to find out the ship changed its itteniery. We later found out another cruise ship docked in Jamaica that same day we were suppose to go. The last thing I want to say is the food and service in the Marco polo restaurant was horrible! The food was cold and hard. The wait staff were doing to many tables so my family would get to dinner by 830 and didn't order until 915! All three nights my family went to the sit down dinner they failed at customer service. We asked to speak to a supervisor after not being able to order food, the supervisor came and told my wife the wait staff would take care of her, all he did was pass the complaint back to the wait staff. This was by far the worst I've been treated and it seems as if no one wants to take responsibility for all these mishaps. Read Less

From top to bottom, bow to stern, this ship and MSC in general fail. No, that's not true. Jason in the dining room and one guy at the coffee bar were good. The rest of the crew are all relatively indifferent to service while the management is downright hostile. Food is consistently bland, lacking in choice and not usually the correct temperature. The Surf and Turf specialty restaurant left my brother-in-law puking all night. Staterooms are the smallest I have seen on any ship in more than 30 cruises. Bathrooms are worse. Common areas are too small for the number of guests. The buffet uncomfortably packed, pool deck impossible to find a chair and theater over full. Cruise staff activities are few and far between amd several times were cancelled without notice. Theater shows were dreadfully sung. The acrobatics were entertaining, however. Internet didn't work in our cabin, but MSC wouldn't give a partial refund. Room Service was supposed to be included, but family was charged. Drink packages are not uniformly implemented. Debarkation locations amd times changed, procedures randomly changed, etc. No clear communication about anything except sales or other $$ items. MSC is trash, their staff doesn't care about their guests and their competition is literally better at everything. Enjoy your vacation, cruise with someone else. Read Less

My family was so excited to be sailing on the Armonia for the Christmas cruise to Cuba. When I booked this cruise I advised the MSC ticket agent that my daughter suffers from Celiac Disease and would require a gluten free meal plan. At no point in the conversation did the rep advise me that accommodating my daughters dietary issues would be a problem. You see I have previously traveled with MSC and was aware that many of your ships have dedicated gluten free kitchens. My daughter's selections for meals were extremely limited; had this information been convened to me at the time of booking I would have selected another ship. You see my daughter is very fussy and there was no pasta, pancakes or even something as simple as individual containers of yogurt. I do believe the kitchen staff did there best to accommodate my daughter. Nevertheless, not conveying the information about how limited my daughter's options for food would be on Armonia is not acceptable. In many ways I feel that this cruise was sold to me fraudulently. Additionally, another big issue was the disembarkation in Cuba. The crew made an announcement that people who booked third party excursions had to be off the ship by 12:20. As such, many of us who met this criteria disembarked from the ship early only to wait on a line for over an hour as Armonia crew allowed all of their excursions to go through Cuban customs prior to third party excursions. This experience made all of us feel like second class citizens. Why tell us to leave earlier only to force us to watch your excursions all go through first. We all had an agenda in Cuba. A few other things were overlooked. I did advise that I would be celebrating my birthday on this cruise, and that was never even addressed. Also, failure of cabin stewards to introduce themselves at the beginning of cruise, all of these little details matter. One final note, the change of port to Ochos Rios was disappointing as we were never given a really good reason for why the destination was changed. In summary, I spent a lot of money for my family to enjoy themselves, and this cruise failed to live up to expectations. Read Less

Traveled on MSC Armonia Dec 2018, visited Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Cuba. Let me first start off with the old, moldy smell in the hallways on cabin floors as soon as you get off the elevator. Open my cabin door to find one bed instead of two, open the curtains to see my “ocean view” to only find a big rusty life boat there. So much for my “Oceanview room” that I paid 1,300 for!! Got no help from guest services at all with this matter, I was better off with a inside cabin and saving $600!! I am 6’0, 175 pounds and I could barely fit in the shower. I have never spun so much in a shower, half the bathroom floor was wet!! The food in the buffet was the same EVERYDAY, instead of the carvery station. The food sucked and had no flavor AT ALL. The drink machines were either empty or all juice selections were only water. The coffee was cold 90% of the time and most lines for the buffet were out the door to the pool area due to only one side of the buffet open. Many people had to wait after certain dishes were finished, there was no sense of urgency at all for the servers to quickly replace empty dishes. The dining room was a horrible experience which is why I never returned after day 1. I asked my server where our bartender was so I could order a beer with dinner, and he looked at me like I had 2 heads. He told me the bar was too far for him to get me anything, I had to get up from my table and walk out of the dining room to a bar to get drinks!! There were no decent activities during the day at sea to keep people busy, the casino was about the size of my garage with 5 tables only. I only enjoyed my last 2 days, due to the fact that were in Cuba and I was OFF THE BOAT! Only used MSC to shower and nap!! There are NO ATMs on board, guest services will force you to take a “cash advance” then charge you 5% fee from the transaction. They charge a fee for room service for many items that are not sandwiches and if ordered after 11pm. Most of the tv channels are not in english so you are limited if you decide to relax in your room. I would never EVER travel with MSC again, I wouldn’t even take a free cruise with them if offered. I will stick with Carnival for a great cruise experience. If you are going on MSC only for Cuba, save yourself the 5 day agony before hand and just fly into Cuba instead!! Read Less

We originally chose the Armonia because of how cheap the price was. I sailed with my husband and two kids and my mother in law. We had two ocean view cabins on the 8th floor. I knew going on the cruise that I shouldn’t expect too much from it just from reading previous reviews and watching videos on YouTube prior to sailing. Yet, I hate to say that even with low expectations I still wouldn’t sail on this ship again. First off, the ship is very very old and it clearly shows on the appearance of it. The lido deck floors are all chipping apart and the chairs upstairs near the pizza area and the hamburger areas were wobbly. The ship was “re-vamped” in 2011 and all I could think about is the fact that it still looked like nothing was done. The buffet area upstairs in uncomfortably tight. Even for a smaller ship and less people it felt more crowded then the ships I’ve been on with 6k+ passengers. The rooms were extremely tight and uncomfortable. I’m surprised they would even put three people in that small of a room. The bed in our room was broken and nothing was done to fix it. The ac felt like it was never on all over the ship and especially in the cabin. And the shower frame fell and hit my son. There are two pools both which were a decent size but with disgustingly warm and extremely salty water. They only had two hot tubs that were so small and only fit five people each. There was always a line to get in the hot tubs. The kids splash pad was probably one of the nicest splash pads on a ship that I have been on. My kids really enjoyed it. The food was below average in the buffet and dining room. We did really enjoy the breakfast options but lunch and dinner had barely any options other then the pizza, burgers, hot dogs, salad and fries. The five to eight options in the buffet were not good. The shows were not good except for the last night show which was the abyss which we enjoyed. There were barely any activities throughout the day so we spent our time mostly in the room or on the pool deck or eating. Overall, I knew to not expect much from this cruise but I was still disappointed. I wouldn’t go on the Armonia again. I would rather pay more and actually enjoy my cruise. Read Less

The Armonia is really past its prime. The ships air conditioning was really only functional in midship public rooms on decks 5 and 6. Warm or even hot everywhere else. Our cabin was set to the coldest available setting and we still could cover with no more than a sheet and even kicked that off several times during the night. The single most disappointing thing was the incredibly poor buffet. Even though the food selection was awful, there was never enough seating. Simply horrible place to eat. The food in the dining room was adequate and our server made it better than it would have been. The selections were ok but on only one occasion really good. We both did like the prime rib. The high point of the cruise, (the single high point) was the children's program. Our 7 year old granddaughter really enjoyed going there and the activities provided. The service in the bars was ok but you sure didn't want to be in a hurry to get a drink. We had the basic drink package that came with the "suite" which proved adequate. My wife liked that she could get coffees and sodas. We are from the U.S. and you should be prepared if you go on this ship.....the VAST majority of other guests did not speak English. Just FYI. We would never cruise on this ship again. Read Less

Great cruise staff, worked hard but everything was just very below par Entertainment was same thing every night with different costume. No new acts no variety. Drinks were so inconsistent , the same drink was made differently every time. The coffee shop was simply very poor. The view from the coffee shop windows was of ladders. The same coffee ordered by us was made differently by the same barista. Not surprising just inconsistent. Food was the standard of Denny's . It was ok , just not great. The Marco Polo dining hall was just a bright cafeteria. Portion sizes were ....inconsistent. The shop was tired looking, lots of loose railings held by duck tape. Shore excursions through ship was well organised , but started 90 minutes after we were allowed to leave and we only then had 4 hours in port. Would not book through ship again Cabin was a good size and had a lot of storage. Shower was very small even by cruise ship standard and had shower curtain Met nice people, was bummed about Cuba but no onbaord credit would make us use MSC again. Read Less

I’ve traveled on MSC Divina out of Miami and loved it, I can honestly say that MSC brought a new level of elegance to cruising in south Florida, but the Armonia is just not up to the standards that Miami cruisers are use to. Even the cheaper Carnival lines out of this port are better. The air conditioning didn’t work for 2 days Not just in our room but all the rooms in our section. The ship has no insulation to keep out noise. You could hear all the noise from outside your stateroom. Especially from the buffet room above us. We literally had to be given another room just to sleep in one night due to the heat and noise. For this I do give them credit. The Food was always cold and the service is not up to standards that I personally loved about MSC. Unlike the Divina, the cigar bar in the Armonia has no bar, so you have to go out looking for a waitress to get you a drink and bring it back to the cigar room. I’m in the entertainment business and my wife and I loved the shows on the Divina. Totally 1st class. The shows on the Armonia remind me of a refined high school play. This ship needs to be retired or sent to another port where the standards are not as high. We will not be cruising on the Armonia again and don’t expect to refer anyone else either. Read Less

This review will be long. I am an experienced cruiser; with this being my 14th cruise. First time and last on MSC. I have cruised in the past with Carnival, Holland, Norwegian, Royal Carribbean and Windjammer. I travel frequently and generally expect some hiccups when traveling by air, boat, or car. I would describe myself as pretty tolerant and not difficult to please. We cruised from Miami on the MSC Armonia on 4/2/19. I booked this cruise and paid in full in January 2018 and we chose the Fantastica package based on the offers with it (drink vouchers, free room service and room choices). I booked directly with MSC by phone. We choose room 7055 with the category of ocean view. Embarkation was fast and smooth. I was impressed we had very little wait time and were on our ship quickly. We were told our vouchers for drinks would be in our stateroom. Staterooms were available by 1:30 pm. That where the disappointment started. No drink vouchers in the room. Our room was very tiny. That is ok, we don't spend much time there. The problem is our ocean view window was in actuality an obstructed view. Clearly the deck plans and category is listed (and priced) as ocean view (indicated on the plans as dark green) and not an obstructed view. Armonia has installed a large net off the bottom of the 8th floor that extends down and across our entire view from our room on the 7th floor. It was clearly there for a long time. I will try and attach picture. This net made it impossible to take any pictures from our window. The bed was large and comfortable. The shower was ridiculously small, with a shower curtain that "sticks" to your body when you shower. The hair dryer was useless, not enough power to dry your hair so bring your own. Those small issues we ignored. The room view I was unhappy with so we went to the desk to voice our complaint. We initially had a long line, but a guest services agent asked us in line what she could do to help. We gave her our issues with not receiving drink vouchers. I had called about this with MSC the day before departure. My fantastica experience was supposed to include 12 vouchers per person. I guess they are discontinuing these on 3/31. Well when I purchased it was advertised. It also was clearly listed on my eticket I had just printed a week before departure as "included in your cruise". I showed this to the first agent we talked to. Her name was Nadia. She said she would take care of the issues and check back after 6pm. Long story short it took 2 days to get the drink vouchers and MULTIPLE trips to the front desk where we had to explain all over again what the issues were. First you get met by a blank stare, then "I don't see any of these issues documented", then the longer you stand there they "find it", and tell you "to come back later, another day, no rooms left etc. It took 4 days and multiple trips to come to a conclusion. At one point on day four just as we are about to leave ship for port we were contacted and told we could move to another ocean view room 7001. Thankfully I insisted on seeing before packing everything up. After waiting 40 min for someone to open the room for a look I discovered this new "ocean view room 7001" didn't even have a window in it. No door to outside, it looked just like an interior room. What a waste of time. Eventually they offered 100.00 in compensation credit. We balked because I already knew the obstructed view rooms were 100.00 less per person. I paid 200.00 more to get that ocean view that really wasn't. By that evening on day four we were told that they would compensate 200.00 total for our cabin. We were told multiple times the ship was full and no other rooms available but met a couple who told us on embarkation that they were asked if they would like to upgrade to balcony rooms. I feel we were lied to multiple times and put off in hopes we would just give up. Our rooms was kept spotless by our steward. We appreciated that. The shows I saw prior on this forum were rated as poor. We actually really enjoyed them. The acrobats and entertainment were amazing. The bands in bars and public areas were frequent and enjoyable. We really enjoyed the variety night by the crew. The pool was clean and temperature comfortable. The hot tub was a disappointment as well. There were two onboard. They held 4 people each for a ship of 2000 that was not sufficient. The last two days on board one hot tub was drained and never refilled. We did not buy any MSC excursions. We purchased our own directly from a vendor before departure. We took an old car tour while in Cuba. There is paperwork you have to fill out in advance for Cuba. You do have to pay 75.00 pp to get a visa to be allowed to disembark in Cuba. We enjoyed Cuba very much and were overnight in that port. Some confusion on if cigars are allowed back into the US. Law says yes but I saw a couple stopped when boarding by the Cuban officials telling them they were confiscating them because they were not allowed. Money is easy to exchange as soon as you get off the ship in the terminal. You can change it back again if you have any left over. Cozumel with spent the day relaxing at Chankanaab Park. 12.00 for two people in a cab to get there. Cab drivers like to gouge and charged the same ride back 15.00 for two people. Grand Caymen we spent the day at Royal Palms beach club. 2.00 entrance fee pp. 5.00 pp taxi ride there. Very nice beaches there, but you will pay 15.00 for a chair and 15.00 for an umbrella. Now, the food. I am not a picky eater. My husband is. But even I felt the food was very poor in the buffet in particular. It was often seen two days in a row. The food choices were not huge. The buffet items were often empty. The carved meats were doled out in the size for a child. The breads were good. The pizza was excellent. The grill was the staple for my husbands cruise. The dining room was better, but not a huge menu either. The service in the dining room was excellent. The buffet area was too small for the number of passengers. It was always crowded and hard to find a seat and if you did the table was dirty and you had to wait for someone to wipe it off. The staff in there seemed overwhelmed most times. We never got a visit asking for drink orders in the buffet area unless we sought one out or went and got it from the bar ourselves. Once I got a waiter for a drink on the pool deck when I stopped one. Otherwise, we had to go to the bar and get our own drinks. Other ships I have been on have multiple wait staff walking around getting orders on the pool deck. The fantastica package says free room service. Literally the only thing free with that was 3 sandwiches, 2 salads, 1 soup, cookies, brownie, fruit plate or continental breakfast. I ordered mild and cereal and my milk cam heated up in a teapot. ? The full breakfast and dinners came with additional 7.95 service charge. I didn't use it. Not sure why fantastica has "free room service" on their offer. There does not seem to be many public bathrooms on board and those we did use were not kept clean frequent enough. The most used ones definitely smelled like urine. Sinks not kept tidy and papers on the floors. Disembarkation was smooth and quick, we carried off our own luggage. All in all the ports and entertainment we enjoyed. I will not cruise with them again, due to the issues that took too long to resolve. There is no reason to book a higher level experience if they do not deliver on the benefits. Read Less

This was the third cruise my family and I have taken with MSC. We have had positive experiences before but not this time on board the MSC Armonia. It started poorly with the embarkation process. A process that in previous Cruises had been pretty smooth was a complete mess. The agent checking us in did not know the itinerary. Kept telling us different ports that we were not going to. Once on the boat we went directly to the room. It was an inside cabin. Small compared to other ships but I understand booking an inside cabin my expectations should be realistic. If you have more than 2 people staying in the room your items will not fit in the closet. The shower was no better, the curtain did not close all the way, water everywhere and the handle rail was broken and the handle to the water was also broken. The buffet left a lot to be desired. There was not much variety. Everyday it seemed to be roasted chicken, rice and vegetables. The Pizza, burgers, and hot dogs by far the best selections food wise. In previous ships the entertainment has been excellent but it seems like they use this ship for training or to tryout new performers because the shows left a lot to be desired. The rest of the entertainment was not great either. Other that the Newly Wed game the Cruise Director was non existent like previous ships. One worker specifically was very rude and lazy. He did not want to set up pool deck games unless there was a line of people waiting to play. He had little motivation and less energy getting people to get involved with the activities. When I questioned him about the games he got nasty and started arguing with me. I said to him part of what I payed for goes towards entertainment , his response was well I don't care I do not get paid tips. I complained to guest services and no supervisor would speak to me. Honduras stop was a mess. I understand tendering is an issue anywhere but on a 6 hour stop in Honduras it took over 2 hours to get out of the boat, leaving even less time to enjoy Roatan. Again went to guest services and was basically told too bad MSC guest that booked MSC excursion get priority too bad. There was very little to no empathy or sympathy for the guest. Not many activities for kids 10 to 13 year range. Most kids this age are past legos and coloring. Not enough activities in the sports deck for them. It wasn't all bad, our room attendant was great and the room was always clean. The bartenders on the pool deck were also very good. Very friendly and actually acted like they were enjoying themselves and liked their jobs. The restaurant experience was also great. Had a very friendly waiter and helper. It is unfortunate to have experienced this and would make it very difficult to book another cruise with MSC. Read Less

We basically chose this ship because of the itinerary. Cuba is a must see. First off, MSC, you need to update your website. Its difficult and disappointing trying to get any information from MSC. We overall had a great time on the ship. There's more than 7 languages spoken and the Captain spoke almost all of the languages "very impressive" our cruise director Seanon was great also, very funny and welcoming. The shows were like any other ship shows. Our Cabin was clean and well maintained throughout our cruise. The food on the ship was different from American food "example" breakfast pizza was a first for me "sweet and fruity" they had hot milk and the coffee is not strong. I personally like my coffee dark. There's lots of entertainment on the 11th floor "pool deck" their gelato is delicious " 11th floor foward". The burgers are good and the pizza is good also. We had high seas so our Cayman islands stop was canceled, but we weren't disappointed because we've been there several times. There we a lot of people disappointed though. The night after leaving the Cayman islands "which we missed" our visa forms was put in our cabin, we filled it out and when we docked in Cuba, we had no problems with immigration or customs, was a nice experience, there's the bank and kiosk where you can exchange your money and what you don't use just exchange it back to US dollars, there's the CUP money which the local uses, 25 CUP equals 1 US and there's CUC which is equal to 1 US dollar tourist use the CUC and locals uses the CUP....you get back the taxes also. It was a nice cruise, a pleasant experience with MSC and we'll definitely cruise with them again. Read Less
