Because of the hurricane Dorian our 7 day cruise was delayed leaving from the Port of Miami. This resulted in us missing the first 2 days of our cruise. Other than that everything went perfectly. Boarding went very well. We had requested 2 wheelchairs to board and after 10 minutes the chair pushers arrived and very carefully pushed up the jet away to the ship. This was the first time we were in a fully air conditioned jet away. It made it very comfortable. We were taken directly to the buffet and seated at a reserved table for handicapped passengers. As soon as we got in line a crew member immediately came over and asked if they could help hold the plates. We thought that was very caring and thoughtful. After eating we went to our cabin and checked with the front desk to see if any handicapped cabins had opened up since when we booked none were available. We were told they had to check with the guest services manager, Chanel, and call us back. Since we had an outside cabin moving us to an inside handicapped cabin was a downgrade. After seeing the other cabin we immediately agreed to switched since it gave us so much more room for our walkers and no steps into the shower. We noticed there was no note in our cabin with instructions for the Meet and Mingle Party so we called the front desk and they were able to tell us the information. They said the letter would come later. We went to the life boat drill and were relieved that we did not have to stand for an extended time. Since we were. Black Card Members we were able to dine in the Surf and Turf Restaurant one time at no charge. The service was excellent as well as the food. Food in the main dining room was okay and the service was excellent. Our cabin had a small TV with remote that had a built in sleep timer. The air conditioner was very strong so we asked for more blankets. The cabin stewards were always dressed in very elegant uniforms. They did an excellent job in keeping the rooms neat and clean. We were able to get room service every morning and had breakfast in bed at no charge. The pool was wonderful, it was salt water. They had a fully automated chair lift to help handicapped persons in and out of the pool. The pool temperature was just right. Nearby the pool was a Gelato Bar which was free and delicious. There also was a pizza bar which had several different kinds of pizza. There also was a hot dog, sausage and burger bar near the pool. Every day they had at least 3 Trivia games which we enjoy. We love to play so we can expand our knowledge and also for the competition. Maverick was our favorite Trivia caller. Their game of Quest was a lot of fun. Their shows were excellent. The movie theater was very spacious and comfortable with a nice sound system. We loved all the Ports of Call. We were fortunate to be invited to have dinner with the Captain and the Hotel Director Robert. The Captain had a great sense of humor. He also was very informative. The food was excellent and the service was elegant. When it came time to debark we had to get up early and were wheeled off the ship quickly. Special recognition to Chanel from Guest Services, Maverick from Cruise Directors staff and Joice , translator, who was an all around angel. Thank you for making our cruise really special. Read Less

Best staff! Plenty to do! Good ports! Clean ship! Price is right! We booked MSC again as we were previous cruisers on the MSC Divina. Wife & I had a fabulous time! The only con was the internet WiFi which was hit or miss most of the cruise. Adequate portions in the dining room. Plenty of chairs around the pools. Plenty of selections in the buffet for breakfast & lunch. All day/night best pizza on any cruise ship! Late night snacks in the buffet every day. La Perloga restaurant served dishes from different countries which were very tasty. The ports of call were great. Roatan, Honduras: Monkey & Sloth Zoo & Botanical Gardens. Costa Maya: Port Pass for just $39 per person which included the Bird Aviary, Chocolate Factory Tour, Tequila Tasting, 3 drinks, & a chair at the beautiful port pool. Cozumel: We walked along the main road. Had lunch at an authentic Mexican restaurant, and shopped within the 2 ports in town. We were scheduled for Key West but Hurricane Dorian kept us away. 2 extra free days back to Costa Maya & Cozumel. Thanks MSC! Easiest embark & disembark process! We will certainly cruise again with MSC! Read Less

I decided at the last minute to take a cruise to celebrate my birthday. I only booked the first leg of this 14 day cruise . I cruise out of Miami a lot. I flew into Fort Lauderdale the day before , used GO shuttle service to get to Miami and stayed at the Embassy Suites. I took a cab to the port for two reasons. I had a very late check-in 3 p.m. and I find it very annoying to use the hotel shuttle to get to the port . It's a little cheaper but I do not enjoy standing in line for 15/20 minutes and pushing my luggage along. There were three things I wanted to do on this Cruise: number one relax number two Gamble and number three shop. I chose this Cruise because of the price and because I had sailed on MSC before, on the Divina and liked the atmosphere. This ship was very quiet and peace. There was entertainment and dancing but it was not rowdy like other ships. I also knew that I could buy Swarovski jewelry at a discount on MSC cruises. I had been stalking a pair of earrings for a few months and was hoping I would find them on the cruise and I did. I found the Armonia very easy to navigate and get used to. The map I received when I embarked was very helpful and I referred to it a lot the first few days. I was lucky to be able to pick my stateroom when I booked. I wanted to be near the casino elevator because I usually stay in the casino until they close. I had an inside cabin on Deck nine. It had plenty of storage space. I have no complaints about the service I received. I found the staff and crew very friendly, always smiling, and very helpful. The ship was clean and seems like someone was always working to keep it clean. The dining room was a nice experience with excellent service. I found it easier to eat in the dining room for breakfast and lunch when it was open rather than fight the crowd in the buffet . The Meet and Mingle for Cruise Critic members was the best ever. MSC always has the best Meet and Mingles. They serve hors d'oeuvres, drinks, a cake and take a group picture which we get a copy of. We also head a nice Slot Pull . I was surprised that the casino gave us three gift bags to give out . I've been to a lot of slot pulls and that has never happened . I was impressed. Two things happened that I was not expecting. There is no ATM on this ship. Also free drinks in the casino once you reach a certain amount of points does not exist like it does on other Cruise Lines. But these two things did not spoil my cruise. I worked around them. I couldn't find any network stations on the TV so I spend a lot of time watching CNN and knew all about the hurricane. We wondered how we were going to make out because we were supposed to dock in Miami on Labor Day. The captain eventually announced that we would be returning to Mexico and have two extra days at sea. Everyone was given 24 hours free internet so they could try to change their travel arrangements. The service was the same. Nothing changed. It was a very smooth ride considering what could have been. Because I had been to these ports before and taken excursions in the past I did stay on the ship at each port. When we docked in Miami I decided to take the Big Bus tour which was very convenient. The bus was right outside the terminal, they stored our luggage, and the first stop was Bayside Marketplace. I got off there and stayed until 5 when I was dropped off at Fort Lauderdale Airport. There are other stops I could have taken but I enjoy exploring Bayside. I had lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, got a massage, a manicure, and did some shopping. I do plan to book the Armonia again and hope to do a back to back. Read Less

We were supposed to go to Cuba, but that was canceled. The embarkation was smooth no real wait in line. Disembarkation one of my bags went missing at first they didn’t care. Then I went to a table and got real assistance who helped find my bag. The Armonia staff Kishawn, Jose, Lord and Nestor took really good care of us. The food was really good and the hotdogs was amazing. The Armonia was nice and clean. The cabin was a decent size for two people, thought the shower was small. The entertainment staff put in a show that was great. We stopped at Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel Mexico, and Costa Maya Mexico. We had a really good time on them. Seeing the rainforest in Jamaica. Going to the turtle farm at Grand Cayman Islands. Visiting Hell and taking pictures their was fun. Shopping in all the ports was a whole lot of fun. Read Less

I chose MSC Armonia in the middle of August because I had a discount left over from MSC Seaside last November that expired at the end of August. Since we had already been on the Seaside and the Divina, that only left the Armonia in the Caribbean. Being a smaller and older ship with not as many amenities, I was pleasantly surprise as to the condition of the ship and the quality of the food and nightly entertainment in the theater. The crew was very friendly and helpful. Our cabin steward was the most helpful to us. Navigating the ship was easy and there weren't as many passengers to collide with. The most problem we had on the ship was the buffet. Very busy lines and we often had a problem finding a table. Getting off and on the ship in ports of call was an easy process. We didn't book shore excursions on the ship as they seemed too expensive as there were 4 of us traveling together. We found trips at the pier after we got off the ship, which were less expensive. MSC Armonia is a ship I would consider again. We had perfect weather which made for a pleasant cruise experience. Read Less

I don't understand all of the negative reviews. We are Americans who booked a cruise on an Italian cruise line, hence the name Medditeran Shipping Co aka MSC. There were hardly any Americans on board, we expected this and knew this. The food was excellent, pizza was amazing, the customer service was outstanding and the kids club was phenomenal. Our cabin was a little small but the ship was immaculate. We had turndown service 2x daily. Loved MSC so much, we booked another cruise on while on board. If you are American, do realize you will be one of few Americans on board hanging out with mostly European and South Americans. If you can open your eyes and mind to other cultures on board, you will have a great time. Our cruise was a great value for the money, it was everything we expected it to be and more. Love MSC! Our daughter loved the do re mi splash club and the kids club. We brought her wonder woman cape as they do a superhero night. She was in the show the last night of the cruise. The food was amazing, especially the pizza. They had pizza for breakfast lunch and dinner. We ate in the main dining room the first night and we had a great 3 course meal. Breakfast had a wide variety of food and the dinner buffet did not disappoint. The gelato was out of this world! The service on the cruise was exceptional. The folks who worked there seemed happy unlike other cruise lines we have been on. We loved our msc cruise experience so much we booked another cruise with them! We decided not to do any excursions and explore on our own. I recommend Margaritaville in Ocho Rios. There is a private beach, pool, loungers, safe, restaurant and trampoline in the water. In Grand Cayman we hung out at Royal Palms Beach Clun. In cozumel we walked around the shopping district. In Costa Maya we ate in one of the restaurants that overlooked the giant free pool. There were plenty of things to do in the port. Read Less

I continue to read negative reviews of this cruise and I’m left scratching my head. I guess each trip is what you make of it but MY experience on Armonia was excellent. The ship was spotless, classy, and not a spot of rust to be seen. The crew was attentive and courteous and our cabin stewardess constantly kept the cabin clean. The food was the best that I have ever had on a cruise and the drinks (I had the Easy package which included drinks up to $6) were excellent. The itinerary was fantastic since it included two days in Havana. Cuba is a magical place with friendly people, old American cars, and beautiful Spanish architecture. I believe that MSC has made a customer for life. I would not hesitate to book this same cruise again or any other MSC ship. Don’t believe the negative reviews and experience it for yourself! We had an amazing cruise. I give a 5 star for everything. If I had listened to some of the reviews, I would have missed out on this amazing experience. We were the last cruise that was able to go to Cuba and I can express how fortunate we were. We were given a really great room that had a window at the front, and a window at the side. There was a king and a pull down bed in the front room and a sofa bed in the other. The entertainment was top notch. Our teenagers insisted that we go to the shows each night (we didn't miss one). There were all good but our favorite was the Adam's family show. The food was amazing. Seriously, I think the pizza was the best I ever had. The gelato was amazing. We ate in the Marco polo dining room every night and the dining staff took great care of us. Our housekeeper kept our room spotless. If someone has a complaint about this ship, the food, the entertainment, the staff, or anything else, they really don't deserve to go on a cruise. What I liked most was that this was full of people from all over the world-who all went to see Cuba. Arriving in Havana was one of the most exciting experiences of my life (and I travel a lot) They had to translate into 5 different languages, and I like that. We made new friends from Australia and the Philippines. We enjoyed the pub quiz. Karaoke was fun too- the multi talented staff speak so many languages! I wish i had done the dance lessons that the entertainment staff hosted. We missed not having comedy, but you can't make it funny if you have to translate it so I didn't mind that there was no comedy. We did the Hemingway Tour in Havana, and it was so interesting. Our guide was terrific. We got to see outside of Havana, Hemingway's house, and the village where he fished and you do start to understand how poor the people are in Cuba so I am sad that cruises from the USA won't be going there any more. (if you ever get to go- bring money to be generous with! The average Cuban lives on $20 a month! And bring cat food for the street cats you will see, toiletries because people need it, toys for the kids, crayons, whatever- the people appreciate it!. We gave a young man a soccer ball that we brought with us. He was so happy to get one!). The ship may be a bit older but it is fine. I went on Norwegian epic on spring break and did not enjoy it any more than I enjoyed this cruise. It was different but also amazing (I have cruised on Carnival Paradise, Carnival out of Jacksonville, Norwegian Epic and Bahamas celebration, and I loved every cruise I have been on, but this was a particularly special experience. If you are spoiled and a difficult person, don't go on this cruise. The staff are too nice and you don't deserve it. But if you are an adventurous person who likes to meet people from different cultures, and you are a nice and easy going personality, then go! I nearly cancelled our trip because of some of the reviews, and I would have been so sorry if I had. One of our top 10 trips ever! Read Less

My first cruise but my wife's seventh we chose this at fairly short notice because we wanted to visit Cuba. Getting on and off the ship were a breeze, we boarded early it took us a total of about 20-30 mins from when we entered the terminal until we were on the ship. Just please remember it's a small ship not a mega ship, a great place to unwind and de-stress, having said that there are enough things for kids to do as well. It was a wonderful first cruise for me and my wife said the best she's been on by far, she been on them all. There were a lot of Europeans, South Americans and Aussies on board which made it more fun for us, learning about them and their Countries. MSC converts we are, can't wait for the next one, sooner rather than later i hope. Cabin was nicely laid out, bathroom was large with a bath and the balcony was a good size. Everything was spotlessly clean from day 1 until we left the ship. Our cabin steward, Anna, was amazing nothing too much trouble and always had a smile on her face. We dined almost exclusively in La Pergola which was very good, praise to the Manager and Host Brenda who were brilliant all the time. The food was excellent every meal, in fact after the 3rd Day we had trouble choosing, the Manager asked if we trusted him? We did and he chose our meals almost every day from the on and he didn't disappoint us once. We ate at the buffet on the day we got there and the roast beef was very good. All bars and other eating areas looked to be good as well. The shows were good and thankfully kept fairly short, which in my opinion was all the better for that. Now to the Service we had an extraordinary experience with all staff on board. They were so nice, helpful and happy even when people gave them a hard time for seemingly nothing. There are several people who deserve a special mention, Manooj one of the Officers, Anil Singh and JackyLou Natagoc from the Bar Service staff were all outstanding .They really made the cruise that bit more special with their attitudes, happy faces and outstanding personalities and service. Ports and excursions were all great from cooking Jerk Chicken in Ochos Rios and Mayan Tour in Cozumel. The best port by far for us was Havana, the people were wonderful and really made the place a joy to visit. We did a Hemmimgway Tour which was informative and a lot of fun we had a blast. The second day we did a Classic Car ride in a pink 50's Bel Air again this was great and our driver Jesil took us all over the city. The Architecture of the older buildings in truly wonderful, the Russian era buildings were not as beautiful, of course, however the gave a great insight into how people lived. The Flea Market is a must do it's a short walk from the ship, out of the Port turn left about 5 blocks. There are some wonderful souvenirs here paintings, leather goods, t-shirts and so much more. Don't forget some cigars and rum from a legitimate source. Also please take some candy for the kids there, you give one piece out and 20 more show up. We are also going to take some kids clothing on our next visit. Havana, Cuba and it's citizens have their problems but what a joy they were to meet. Read Less

I decided to book MSC Armonia because of the itinerary and great price. After reading the reviews I hesitated about this cruise but for my surprise it exceeded my expectations. I had a great time with the Entertainment crew, they were awesome! Every night was a party, very happy, good vibes cruise. My 9 years old boy was in love with all the Youth activities, this girls were amazing and my kid loved all of them. He cried the hole morning just because he had to say goodbye. He enjoyed every dinner, show and activities with all the kids. My waiter Dewa and his team, the best ever! Good menu and tasted delicious. Beverages had a good price if you do not by the package and you will find different kind of beverages, coffee, tea, milk, juices...all included on the package. Itinerary was excellent and all ports too. Dolphin swimming at Cozumel and all silver shopping at the Costa Maya beach was the most I enjoyed. Cuba is an experience you need to have and make your own opinion. What I liked about this ship is that is was not boring at all, it was a happy environment, like a big family. If you don't like tropical music, dancing and having a good time please, do not waste your money booking this cruise. Read Less

We selected this ship because it went to Cuba and our favorite (royal Caribbean) was booked out. I read the reviews of MSC and they were not very good. But we enjoyed the Armonia. Our cabin attendant was excellent - the dining room servers were also excellent. It is a small ship - therefore the entertainment options are smaller than on the bigger ships. Although the shows used ‘canned’ music the young performers were excellent. They put everything they had into the performance. We had a ‘Fantastical’ cabin ( I think that was what it was called) that was quite large - a full bathtub shower and a balcony. I would recommend this ship to anyone who is looking for good value for the money. The dining room food was average but tasty. The gym was excellent. It lacked a good walking deck but this was due to the ship being small. We liked the excursion options - they suited us. Cuba was our reason for choosing this ship - we did the Hemingway tour and the architectural tour. Both were great value. Although my favorite ship is still the Royal Caribbean I would not hesitate to cruise on the Armonia again. Read Less

We have never been on any ship with such outstanding service all around. The food was fantastic is the dining room and the wait staff and maitre d's were always on top of everything. Even the Captain and his executive staff were always around, visible, friendly, and very approachable. For the affordable price we paid, this may have been our best cruise yet. The ship is small and easy to navigate. We have never been on a ship where the boat arrives early to the ports, giving us extra time to explore. The ports, Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and most of all, Havana are all excellent. Havana was clean, safe, friendly, welcoming, and amazingly fun. The overnight there afforded us a memorable walk and an unforgettable night. We want to go back to Havana someday. Read Less

We liked the idea that in 7 nights there was only one full sea day with a 30 hours as our last stop in Havana. Havana was the highlight of the itinerary and probably the best port to visit in the Caribbean. The ship docks in the harbor and it's steps away from the old town galleries, bars and restaurants. The people are very entertaining and welcoming without being overwhelming. Although there is poverty there is no begging and we never felt unsafe. Fellow pax, whose Cuban from Miami, went out with a bunch of gold necklaces and bracelets without fear. Some American pax on a photography adventure, having been there previously went with their expensive equipment without worry. We enjoyed great lunches at about US$60. 2 daiquiris and 2 national beers were $10. The National Hotel terrace should be on everyone's itinerary. There is a HOHO bus that you should use to get acquainted. Armonia is an older ship without grand interior spaces. It has a long pool deck and the loungers and pools did not seem crowded. The entertainment team was energetic and the productions were entertaining. Food was good but not impressive. We had open dining on the Fantastica package. Our servers, Francis and Pravesh were very professional friendly and attentive, excellent team. We Booked about 5 days prior and got an UG from Balcony to suite. We had the basic drink package of up to $6 included. It was good for my partner as he doesn't drink. I UG to premium package and probably broke even since we were in ports for so many days. Either package included water and gelato, I think only mine included espressos and Red Bull and top shelf liquor, some of which got scarce at certain bars. Read Less

This was my first cruise. I chose MSC Armonia due to the itinerary and I am so glad that I did. The moment we stepped foot on the cruise ship, everybody seemed to be smiling and happy and the crewmembers were very helpful. We had one little hiccup, which was our drink vouchers. When we booked our cruise, it was under the “Fantastica” which included a book voucher for 12 free drinks. We did not receive it at first, however another guest had the same problem and told us to just bring the original paperwork down to guest services and they would correct the issue. After dinner on the first night, we took the paperwork down to guest services and immediately we had are drink vouchers. Other than that, everything was smooth sailing. Our cabin was good size; we had four adult women staying in one cabin. We had two twin beds and two fold down beds and it worked perfectly. The cabin had a nice large unobstructed window and plenty of storage space. It had a small desk area and a mini fridge with beverages that you could buy, we did not buy any of the stuff in the mini fridge but it was there. The bathroom had a small shower, so if you are a large person that could be an issue. However, for the average person it should work fine. Our cabin steward Kavesh, got us extra sheets, pillows and blanket for the room. Kavesh seemed to work non-stop in keeping our cabin, nice and tidy. He was fantastic! La Brasserie Buffet on Deck 11: We ate there mostly for breakfast and lunch. It was pretty much the same foods each day but there were many options to choose from, I had no complaint with the buffet and enjoyed eating there. Also on 11th deck was the Gelateria Italiana – it was where we would go for gelato Ice cream, always refreshing after a hot excursion. Usually there was only three choices to choose from, but still good. Le Piscine Pool area: There were two small pools, two hot tubs and a spray park called Doremi for small kids. There were two ping-pong tables and three foosball tables. The ping-pong tables and two of the foosballs were on the starboard side and one foosball table was on the port side. I did use the gym, which was very nice. The equipment seems to be in good shape and I had no problem using it. It can be very busy at certain hours. I went earlier in the day or later in the evening and it was not busy during those times. They also have a power walking/running track that I used. Again, you want to do this early in the day or later in the evening. If you are looking for water slides, rock climbing walls, etc., this is not the ship for you. Marco Polo Dining Room on Deck 5: We dined here every night except for one night in Cuba. I found the food to be good (not great but good). However, I do think that it does depend on what you ordered. Several of my shipmates had the lasagna one night and none of them liked it. However if you did not like something, our waiter, Edwin, would get you something else very quickly. Edwin tried to make sure we enjoyed our meals. The drinks steward always had our water glasses filled full with cold water and was quick to get any drink you wanted. He also always had a smile on his face. Cafe San Marco on Deck 6: Had very good hot chocolate and coffee. They allowed us to use our 12 free drink vouchers there, if you do not have the vouchers or some kind of drink package you will have to pay extra for it. Going ashore/Excursion: We had no problem and never stood in line for more than 5 to 10 minutes at the most. Even going through customs in Cuba, it was only about 10 minutes to get through. Even though our cruise director did say, it could take up to 2 hours, depending on how many customs officers were at work that day. Isle de Roatan – The MSC Armonia actually docked in Isle de Roatan, the Cruise director had told us before that they had been tendering in but that we would actually dock in Roatan. That made getting off the ship quick and easy, no problems. I did the Mayan Eden excursion; it is a little animal park with a guided tour. Costa Maya – Chacchoben Mayan ruins Excursion Cozumel – Did not stay on Cozumel, took the ferry over to Playa de Carmen and did the Chaak Tun cenote excursion. Cuba – Classic car Excursion and walking excursion. The MSC Armonia is not a “mega-ship” which is something I liked about it. The ship was also kept clean and in good repairs, the crewmembers where also very nice (at least the ones I interacted with). I love the fact that it had so many passengers that were from other countries; it was a lot of fun meeting them. I would say that the ratio was maybe 25% from the USA and the rest from other countries, on our cruise. I would recommend the MSC Armonia. Read Less

We have cruise 50 plus times on various lines (Carnival, RC, Princess, Cunard, Celebrity, Costa) and this will be our first on MSC. We were a little apprehensive about MSC after reading reviews and this being one of the oldest ships in the fleet. However all that went away as we checked in for our cruise. We arrived early at the port around 10:30am(we had an early flight). Check in was fast and efficient. We went to the waiting area and after about 30 minutes we were allowed to board the ship. The ship is in great shape and we never saw areas that were run down like others have stated. The decor is what I would call as country club elegant. We headed to deck 11 and the Il Griesole bar (are hangout during daytime). We ordered our drinks and at that point were told we have the wrong drink code on our cards(we had upgraded from easy to premium before the cruise). So I took my paperwork and went to guest services and had new cards printed with the new code ( no problem getting it fixed ). The service all around the ship was fantastic , the bar service was some of the best we have ever experienced . We never waited more than a couple of minutes for our drinks at any bar. The servers walking around the deck were great our glasses were not even empty and they were bringing us another drink (we did tip the first day and I am sure this helped). Christine, Benson, Albert and Rom made us feel special. We had 2nd seating for dinner and on the first night it was 8:45pm and all other nights it was at 8:30. The night in Havana was open seating. There was only one Elegant night (the guests were pretty casual on this trip). I went to see the Matre'd to get a table for 2 and after a tip he said he would do what he could and that our new table assignment will be sent to our room. When we we arrived at our cabin after 2pm our new table as requested was there. We had table 450 and John was a great server very fast fast and efficient. The food we though was some of the best we had on a cruise. ( The pasta was the weak link so be warned). We had an outside cabin and is was small but plenty of room for the 2 of us. The shower is small and the curtain likes to get close and personal but after a minute or 2 you figure out how to menuver around. We have been to all the ports befor so the only port we had arranged anything was Havana. We arrived early around 11am and our tour was to meet at 12:45 and at 12:45 we were leaving the ship waited about 10 minutes to get through passport control, security. We exchanged money (euros) this took all of about 10 minutes. Our ship tour the (Hemmingway tour) was good and took about 6 hours. The next day we went on our own and hired a driver in an old car at the port. He took us to the Hotel Nacionale and showed us other areas we paid $60.cucs for 1:30 minute tour. MSC knows what they are doing and do it well and we can't wait to sail with them again. Read Less

I've sailed several times on the Divina and Seaside and was a little hesitant to sail on the Armonia due to her age. Boy, was I wrong! What a great ship! It was absolutely in tip top shape and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. Our cabin steward Jasna seem to work none stop in keeping our cabins clean and stocked. The food was fantastic and the NY Strips were thick cooked perfect. The only thing I was disappointed in was the shrimp Cocktail's. Our waiter Rony gave us great service and made recommendations that were always right on the money. The main entertainment was mostly musical's, not really my cup of tea, but the skill of the performers was top notch!! I'm more a set in the Bar and listen to a singer or small group. That's where I spent most of my time. I went to Guest Service's several times with a question or request an they handled them all very quickly. I have sailed about 16 times and for me this size ship is what I like best. I have always enjoyed RCCL's Grandeur but this may be my new favorite. Read Less

This was our first cruise with MSC, had been on Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Princess before. We chose this cruise for the Itinerary, Havana. We also found this cruise less expensive than other cruises to Havana. We came with our children and small grandchildren, age 1 and 3. First, the Ship: It is a smaller ship to be able to get in the Cuba port. We chose the Fantastica Package which put us on the 8th floor with a Window. I liked that the window had a bay and right over the bed so nice to look out in the morning with our coffee. Room was spacious, similar to most of the cruises we were on, bed exceptionally comfortable. Had frig with mini bar. We bought the Easy Package for alcohol which is worth it, included well drinks, Heineken and Miller beer, house wines, bottled water, fruit juice and cappuccino. The pool area was very nice with plenty of chairs. They had a splash pad for the kids which was same area as pool so it worked to enjoy the pool and stay with the kids. The Food: We found the food to be very good. We ate in both the dining room and the buffet. Nice variety of options for dinner. The grill was very popular. Enjoyed the pizza, hotdogs and hamburgers. I had lobster the last night which was additional $20.00, was not that great. Would probably just stick with the regular menu next time. The Service: I found the service on the ship exceptional, everyone smiling and helpful. Our cabin steward Carlos was excellent. We did not find any wait getting drinks as I saw in previous posts. The waiters in the restaurant exceptional. The SHOWS: We saw two shows that were probably the best we have seen on any ship. In Havana, a local band and dancers came on the ship and the music and dancers were exceptional. The Itinerary: We came primarily to see Cuba. The ship arrived around 2:00 pm. We had pre-booked a tour with MSC, the Cultural Sightseeing & San Jose Market. We book in advance which saved 20% which is worth it. We chose this because we had read so much about taking the MSC tour versus on your own. You do not have to do an MSC excursion but I feel this gave us a very good view of the city. We were on a bus all through the city with several stops for picture taking. Very nice large air conditioned and well organized. After the tour we stopped at the market which is walking distance to the ship. We could have stayed out till late but chose to come back after the tour. The next day, we were pretty oriented to the area and our group of 6 got in a 1955 convertible taxi for $25.00 to the city center. We walked down Obisbo street which was loaded with shops, tourists, restaurants and found this the highlight of Havana. The people in Havana are very friendly. It is a very poor country but residents can now own businesses so we enjoyed supporting the people. Overall, this was a top rated cruise Read Less

We chose this Cruise due to it being 8 days and having 2 days in Cuba. I had cruised on MSC before but my friend Ann had not. We chose a Balcony room with the Fantastica package which was great. The room was spacious though the bathroom was small and the Fantastica package was perfect. It gave us the flexibility to have a great coffee from the specialty coffee area in the AM and an adult beverage at night. Embarkation was a real breeze (as long as you have your paperwork completed). We arrived at the port around 11:30 and were on the ship by 11:45. This is the fastest I have ever gotten on a ship. Upon arriving we walked around the ship a little and found an empty Kiosk to set up our account. You have 48 Hours to process your account and the Kiosks are in numerous areas so you do not need to stand in line at the 1st one you see. After getting some lunch and exploring a bit our room was ready at 2:00pm. We spent a good bit of time in the Spa as we had purchased the Thermal Package. Also we sprang for acupuncture which was amazing. Dr. Randy is the best. My friend has constant back pain due to a medical issue. After 1 treatment the pain went away and did not return the entire trip. I was in a state of complete relaxation after having it done. We wanted to bring Dr. Randy home with us. The food was good and plentiful. A couple of days we had lunch in the main dining room which was a great treat. It was quiet and the food was excellent. The rest of the trip we ate at the Bistro upstairs as we wanted to just relax and not be on a set eating schedule. As it was we ate around every 3 hours. Our only complaint is there were not enough Cream Puffs. We wanted them every day. The Bread Pudding at the Afternoon Tea was one of our favorites. The ports were all interesting. In Roaten, Cozumel and Costa Maya we walked around town and shopped as we had planned 2 excursions in Cuba. The shopping in Costa Maya was the best. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed Cuba. It was very clean, safe, colorful, and chocked full of interesting architecture. The excursions we took were “The Hemmingway Tour” and the “Havana Cultural Sightseeing and Handicraft Market”. They were both well run with excellent busses and guides. Of the 2 we enjoyed the Cultural tour the best” as it took you to an Art School for special needs children that was fascinating. We did not attend any of the shows but we did enjoy the Music in the Bar areas, especially Sun and Salt. They were great. Overall it was one of the best cruises I have ever taken and I have taken over 20. As the ship is older it is smaller but lovely with staff that were friendly and extremely helpful. You never feel that you are being pushed to purchase something or herded like cattle. The Armonia has a much more sophisticated feeling than all the other Mega Ships. Read Less

We are a couple from Puerto Rico 63/58 y/o, 38 cruises and counting. After reading negative reviews we were worried, but the itinerary with two days in Cuba was perfect. It was one of the best cruise experiences we’ve ever had. If the ship and gourmet dining is your thing, find something else. If overall value and cruise experience is for you, MSC Armonia won’t disappoint you. The ship: clean and beautiful. The cabin: standard - the shower area is one of the smallest we’ve ever seen. Food is good to excellent. Dining service and ambience is good but noticeably second-rate. Entertainment and Activities: close to the best we’ve ever experienced. Excellent bands, musicians and shows. The entertainment team was full of life. Pool parties: the best and loudest, with a heavy Latin Caribbean touch. Beer $7, drink $9 Roatan: taxi 20 min to West Bay beach $4, ask for a hotel/bar with clean bathroom. Costa Maya: taxi 20 min to the beach $4, Tipsy Turtle Restaurant, clean bathroom, $10 includes chair, umbrella, snorkel/mask, beer $3, drink $5 Cozumel: shopping and Senior Frogs crazy party La Havana: a fascinating world in itself. Did not book any excursions on the ship (as warned), just walked out. Took new taxi for a long ride around the city $40 2hrs+, Old 1958 taxi to the Spanish fort areas $30 1/hr, Show El Guajirito with live 10-piece Latin band, $60 with food and 3 drinks, wonderful. Small bars with music at 2am, back to the ship on a taxi bike and it felt very safe. Embarkation/Debarkation: a breeze, got lucky because we left on Monday and returned on Tuesday, low cruise traffic days. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to visit Cuba and accepted that the MSC Armonia was not going to offer all the facilities of some of the other cruise lines mega ships, but the price we paid reflected this and we also had 2 complimentary Cuba excursions included in the price. Embarkation at Miami was swift though do ignore the stated check in time, ours was 4.15pm but from reading previous reviews you could board far earlier than this and we were on board by 1.30pm. Our cruise had 650+ Weight Watchers on it, so the same cruise as a previous reviewer but our experience was totally different. We have travelled with MSC in Europe so had some idea what to expect on board in terms of staff, facilities, food and drinks etc, though the large number of Americans on board made for a friendly cruise, as they were polite, knew how to stand in line and are the opposite of our European cousins who push and shove and never say thank you when holding a door open for them. We never went hungry and you could always find something good to eat in the buffet, our Marco Polo dining room was good but we do know that MSC food portion sizes might not sit well with some US guests. Our servers were great and after telling them our drinks preferences on the 1st night every time we sat down for dinner they delivered 2 glasses of wine, a beer and a bottle of water to get us started and these were topped up as required. We had purchased the Easy Drinks Package which worked well for us, we had no extra charges added and apart from the lack of a brandy as a spirit option, we never went short and it saved us a considerable sum since you don't pay the 15% service charge. Our cabin was an Ocean Obstructed view (7098) and a look at the deck plan when booking seemed to indicate that we would have just the very back of the lifeboat in view, this was the case and a small metal walkway but we could clearly see the sea and it let in plenty of light. This was compact and there is a lack of cupboard space, but for 2 people it was fine and the bed was large and comfortable, for 7 days it was fine, since it was clean and everything worked and our cabin lady was always smiling and ready to talk. The cruise director, Miquel was excellent with frequent updates on what was happening around the ship and when docking, I think he was ex-Disney Cruise Line and it showed and unlike Europe there were plenty of sun beds around the pool, as guests took their towels away when they left as opposed to leaving them all day on the beds. We visited Belize City, which involved a 5 mile tender ride which was very well organised, Costa Maya which is a man made tourist trap with prices far higher than in Cozumel where we docked right by the town and this gave you the opportunity to explore the area if you were not on an excursion. Cuba was great. We enjoyed a lovely sail in under blue skies and then we had 2 free excursions that involved visiting government sponsored locations with the inevitable stop off at souvenir shops. The 2nd one where we visited the fortress across the bay and then enjoyed a trip around Havana with a stop off for a rum drink was the best and it gave us a taste of Havana, we then had 3+ hours to wander around on our own. As ever, it's a taster and you can then decide if you want to return at a later date for a longer stay. Bearing in mind the large number of people on these excursions, with different language tours it can become a little busy as the meeting point is often the theatre, but if you follow the instructions and chill a bit then you are soon on your way and our guides were both good and their English was fine for us, far better than my Spanish. So, if you have done all your cruising with RCL, DCL, NCL or Carnival then you may find this ship too small and not American enough in terms of service and food, but remember how much you actually paid and also this was the chance to step back in time and visit a country pretty much unchanged since the 1960's, If this means the odd 1st world problem along the way then just get over it, before you know it you are back in Miami where nobody moves for less than an 18% tip. Happy sailing. Read Less

This was our 10th cruise, our 4th cruise line, and our first time with MSC! By the end of the week I felt a part of the MSC family. The captain gave a great welcoming speech and another talk the final night of the cruise. MSC cares that we have a great experience. It was interesting to experience the European way of doing things, especially their food. We ate in the formal dining room, the buffet, and the pizza/burger station. There were American favorites on the menu and new items for us to try. Their hamburgers are the best I have had ANYWHERE! The only thing we missed was peanut butter and guacamole. We met passengers from all over the world: Canada, Wales, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Turkey, Egypt, Ireland, Italy, Argentina. We attended the shows in the theatre every night except two. We particularly like the Adams Family and the Abyss. Our favorite entertainment was the piano music in the Cafe San Marco. We listened to Fernando, the pianist, every night. Our main reason for choosing this cruise was to go to Havana. We did two excursions thru the ship and some walking around on our own. The ship provides the Visa---you just have to fill it out. Getting through Customs and Security in the terminal was a breeze. The two tours we did were well organized and very educational. Two of the most impressive things about the whole cruise were embarkation and disembarkation. . . . very smooth, no waiting in lines. My husband used the wheelchair service........the crew member who was our escort, Christian, was excellent. I don't have any gripes. My philosophy is this: every cruise line is different, every ship is different, every vacation is different, every location in the world is different. Enjoy your travels! Look for the good! Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted an overnight in Cuba, and the price was very reasonable.. The Armonia is well maintained, and very clean. The decor / color palette on the ship is quieter and more soothing than other ships we've been on. We had an inside cabin on the Ninth floor, The room was more square than rectangular, which made it feel roomier. There was ample closet and drawer space. The bathroom was small, but adequate. The food in the Marco Polo dining room was great , Half of the Menu (5-6) main dishes were the same each day, a beef choice, a fish choice, a chicken choice, a vegetarian choice and one or two more. The other half of the menu varied by day, I liked the Italian Day best, I had chicken parmigiana, and my husband had lasagna. both were outstanding. The food in the buffet was very nice, but of course not the variety available at the main dining room. Our cabin steward was efficient and discreet. When we put the "do not disturb" sign out, he let us sleep. Other times, he kept the room tidy. Things I wish I knew beforehand. They had a "white-out" evening where everyone tried to wear a white shirt or blouse. They had a 2-3 minute show where the children sang a super hero song, before the professional show. Many kids wore a super hero T-shirt or cape that evening. Read Less

The food on the ship was excellent. i have never used the buffet in previous cruises but was very happy with the selections. things changed every day. Msc ships including the armonia was as clean as a ship can be. they were constantly repainting areas and cleaning even the elevators. someone would be cleaning them as you used them. the shows were excellent. the cabin seemed to have plenty of room for 2 people. lots of storage areas in the cabin which was 02, oceanview room. customer service lines were not long because it was a smaller ship. the staff listened to every thing you might say to them and i received chocolate covered strawberries for just suggesting something to the matre d. the photo department was well run and all the areas of the ship always had things going on. the casino was a great place to hang out at the bar in the casino. this cuba sailing was a very good itenarary and we will be back on there in november of this year. This was our fifth cruise with the MSC company. We have done the MSC Divina and the MSC Poesia twice. We chose this cruise for the itinerary, especially the night in Cuba. The cruise is a smaller ship with about 2500 cruisers. We liked that, because you would run into the same people over the week and it never felt crowded on the ship. Also, the embarkation and disembarkation was a breeze due to the size. We had no wait whatsoever. The ship is decorated very modern with many lounges and seating all over the ship. Since our cruise was a December cruise, every lounge, dining area, etc. had a beautiful Christmas tree. The ship was decorated very festive for the season. Because the ship is older, there is no large atrium in the middle of the ship with the glass elevators. Who needs that, anyway? One area that we really liked was the pool area. It was spread out with the pool, hot tubs, great splash area for younger ones that was enclosed. Plenty of pool seating around the outside decks and the entertainment crew always had something fun going on to get the crowd active. Our room was a balcony view located on the ninth floor (room 9143). The location was convenient to everything. We loved our cabin. My daughter (12 years old) had a bunk-bed at the end of our king bed. From the king bed, you could see the water easily. I loved being able to read in bed and see the water. It was very relaxing. Our cabin attendant (B) was very sweet, thorough and kept our room really clean. We had the anytime dining and usually arrived at our same table around 7:00. The food was excellent and our wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. We sat at the same table all week next to a really sweet couple from Switzerland. We ate a few times at the buffet, which had many options to chose from at breakfast and lunch. We also had lunch in the dining room a few days. The food was excellent! The shows were phenomenal! The entertainers were really talented and put on a great show. Due to the size of the ship, they do have you reserve the seats in advance. They have big screens located throughout the ship, you scan your ship card and reserve a spot. Two of our favorite shows was "The Adams Family" and "French Follies". Overall, great shows with singing, dancing, and various performers. The entertainment crew (Graham, Kaitlan, Gary) on this ship worked really hard to make sure that everyone had a great time. They have a flower power night, white night and many other events that were fantastic. We loved all of our ports (Grand Caymen, Conzumel, and Cuba), except for Montego Bay. We had been to Montego Bay on the MSC Poesia about 8 years earlier and it was vibrant and happening. The port now has all the shops closed and to do shopping you go on a shuttle a long way through the city that is littered with trash. The shopping is past the airport in the resort area that is cleaned up. We walked through the shopping area in a bout 10 minutes and chose to go back on the shuttle to our ship. One reason for this was because our driver was so entertaining on the way there, so we figured we should ride back with him. We picked up some people that had gone to the beach and they were not impressed. Maybe the people that went on the excursions had a different experience and a good time in Montego Bay. The highlight for us was Havana, Cuba. We did the walking/bus tour on the first day. Our tour took us through the four squares. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. He loved his city. One interesting highlight was an exact replica of Cuba in miniature that we were able to see. We also visited a cigar/ coffee store. The bus tour took us to Plaza de la Revolucion (Square of Revolution). Where we boarded the bus was also a spot where all the classic cars are parked. What a trip to see so many brightly painted cars from the 1950's. The tour was about seven hours. The next day, we did the classic car tour. WOW!!!! I would highly recommend this tour. We were in a 1952 Chevy with the original paint and many other car parts! Our driver was really personable and shared pictures of his daughter, wife, home, and dog. We went to a really cool artsy area with neat bars and restaurants. The ride ended with a visit to the Floridita Bar which included a free pina colada. What a great place! Crowded but fun and the absolute best pina colada ever. There is a nice statue of Hemingway at the end of the bar, apparently, that was one of his favorite bars. Also, one of the most art-deco buildings is located a block from the bar. The old Bacardi building is amazing. At the top, is the Bacardi bat, with such great architecture. The one tour that we really wanted to do was the dance/nightclub performance. Due to my daughter's age, we could not participate. The minimum age is 18. It actually worked out fine, because MSC brought on the ship a great Cuban band and a dance performance that was first rate and very entertaining. We loved the show! It was nice to be sitting on the ship in Cuba watching a Cuban band perform and then to see an amazing dance performance. Lastly, Captain Scala was amazing. He spoke about 15 different languages. He made sure to welcome all nationalities to the ship on the first night of the show. He also walks around the ship and talks to the cruisers. Both days when we returned from Cuba, he was there to greet the passengers and ask about their adventures in Cuba. We actually had the privilege to sail with him on the Divina both times. On the last night, he speaks to the guests and does a top ten that is really entertaining. Read Less
