Overall experience was great! Staff members were very friendly, always said " Hello with a smile", and ready to help in all situations. Food was plenty , fresh and delicious. Our house keeper Gabriel ensured our cabin is clean and ready to use. Melvin made our drinks on point. Our Children care personnel always had a program for the kids allowing parents to enjoy a moment without Children. Sailing was very smooth good job to the Ship Captains. Boarding the ship was very well organized. Entertainment for all ages was plentiful. Security when embarking and while on board was on point! All staff came from different backgrounds and individual staff had a name tag and a flag representing their country of origin. Good job Norwegian ship for hiring a diversified staff from all over the world. Safety equipments were readily accessible both in the cabins and in common areas making every one on board feel safe. My overall experience, I WOULD DO IT AGAIN!! Read Less

We were the cruise that no one was really sure we would be able to even take because of Hurricane Dorian! Royal Caribbean was AMAZING at communicating with us and letting us know the advantages of hanging in there with them and assured our safety so we decided to go ahead keep our reservation and take the cruise. This ship is the nicest ship we have ever had the pleasure of taking, We have taken many cruises on many different lines. We are now have Platinum Status on RC so we are trying to continue growing our reward level on this RCI ships and family. We absolutely LOVED every single part of this ship! The Rooms were the largest and spacious and beautiful. The ship is immaculate, the food was excellent, and the service was awesome! I cannot tell you how pleased I was with my experience! Royal Caribbean knocked it out of the park with this Ship and this Cruise. There really were so many differences to this cruise and this ship than so many others. It was just a way different class of ship than so many others! Read Less

I was really excited to be on the biggest and newest cruise ship on Royal Caribbean. This was also my first time on Royal Caribbean even though I've been on many other vessels such as Carnival and Norwegian. Pros: it is beautiful and enormous with many extravagant shows that are worth watching and very entertaining. The room is really nice and spacious as well as the bathrooms. Bar Service: bought the unlimited drinking package and definitely got my moneys worth but service was probably the worst. Quite a few times I've had to wait 30 minutes for a drink. Many bartenders would not even make eye contact with me to ask for a drink. I at times had to try and get their attention (not ideal and quite embarrassing). It wasn't at all bars though. The specific one that had the worst service was at Playmakers sports bar. Justin was the one that served me and many of my family members with mediocre service. Quite rude and intentionally ignored all of us. Pro: There was one server, named Greedep at Playmakers who was amazing! Service exceeded my expectations and food came on time. Very kind and welcoming. Pro tip: Go to Schooners bar and you will def get a good drink with good service as well. Best cosmos there! Main Dining Room: did not exceed my expectations. Felt very crowded and food was just okay. Everything was subpar except for service which was excellent. Overall the cruise was fun, lots of activities to do. For the adults, definitely recommend lounging at the solarium where it is relaxing with huge bath pools/jacuzzis. Read Less

When we sailed on the Norwegian Sky, in August, Hurricane Dorian was on its way through the Bahamas and our cruise had a change of itinerary. Instead of going to the Bahamas we went to Cozumel and Key West. We were just happy to be on vacation so the change of itinerary didn't affect our excitement about the trip. The cruise was fabulous, the ship was clean and beautiful. There was plenty to do on the ship. The pool was not as hard to enjoy as another small ship we've been on, there was always a chair and room in the pool. We enjoyed the nightly shows as well as some of the game shows in the bliss lounge. We played Deal or No Deal in the Stardust theater daily....and WON! We also won a small chunk in the beautiful casino. The ports, although changed, were still great. We enjoyed the food and the drinks in all of the restaurants. I was probably most amazed by the fact that the staff was super quick and efficient during embarkation and disembarkation both at the beginning and the end of the cruise as well as at the ports. There was little or no wait to embark/disembark. We can't wait to go again. Read Less

Wanted to take a trip with adults only. We just came off of the Norwegian Escape for a summer vacation with our children and decided to do an adult only cruise twenty-two days later. This trip was probably too close together to appreciate it as much. The Breakaway was a good size ship with plenty of on-board activities to keep you busy. I recommend The Big Top Escape, Comedy Show, Deal or No Deal, Karaoke and Burn the Floor for on-board activities. The ship only seems a little crowded at initial sea day. Pool deck seats in the shade are hard to come by if you are trying to sit with groups of four or more. I found the ladies public restrooms to be a little deprived of cleanliness and fresh smell. I'm sure the next group of people will have a different experience as I know a deep cleaning was getting done after our disembarkation due to Hurricane Dorian. All other areas seemed to be well kept with over 4,000 people on board not cleaning up after themselves. We stayed in stateroom 8766, which was the floor with restaurants, shopping and bars. I was concerned about the smoking, noise level and traffic on these floors, but the noise and smoking was not a real issue and I'm a very light sleeper. Only when you got close to large Chandelier did smoking becoming a factor. The only thing was the stateroom doors slam very hard. I always tried to manually close the door to be courteous to my neighbors, but not everyone does that. The walls between staterooms are also very thin as you can hear some extracurricular activities going on...Our stateroom attendant (Michael) was fantastic. He kept our room clean and was always around if we needed him. The room was spacious for two and had a good amount of storage for clothing with extra storage in footrest. I wish the balcony area was a little bit deeper, but still ok. Shower was bigger than ones on other cruise lines. The bathroom also had shelving and multiple hooks for hanging items. There is a easy to use safe in closet and side reading lights beside bed with little tables on each side. In order for the power and lights to come on in the room you need to put any type of card in the slot right by your door entrance along the wall. NCL would like you to believe that only the cruise card will power the room, but any card will keep the lights on. Please note that Stateroom Attendant is required to remove it if you are not in your room (no biggie just don't expect anything to be charged when you come back if that was your intention when leaving the room). You will have to go back and put card back in after Stateroom Attendant is finished cleaning up. I loved The Martini, Maltings and Atrium bars. Most of the Bartenders were really friendly and made great drinks. They are on their feet the majority of day and night and do it with a smile. So tip them out (CASH ONLY as they don't get tips written in on receipts). Please remember to have a little patience when it's busy. Also, on day one of cruise they close down all bars around 30 minutes before ship drill. Things to note: Wear swimsuit under your clothes and use a back bag/beach bag to pack a change of clothes, medication, electronics, sunglasses, chargers and any other personal items you need, as you won't have immediate access to your luggage or stateroom. The Crew Members are the ones who drive NCL business. They are the ones that keep customers coming back. I notice they work a great deal of hours throughout the cruise. However, I'm not sure that their work discipline is rewarded, other than receiving the comment cards we write up. I would recommend including perks based on accolades provided via customer comment cards. Such rewards should include free wi-fi minutes, extra hours off, special request consideration, extra leave for special events (i.e. weddings, death, immediate family birthday, graduation, etc...). Honduras was a nice spot to venture out. Our driver Cruz Argentina gave us this information as we took a taxi ride over to West Bay, Roatan Islands. The taxi ride was $20 per person and an additional $15 to get a lounge chair with umbrella. The beach was nice and the bathrooms were clean. You could order food & drinks from the Argentina Bar. Your driver waits for you and takes you back to port when you are ready. I would suggest that you offer your driver a tip or food & drink as well. Our driver said that Honduras schools always appreciates if tourist brings pencils/pens for students on the Islands. There is always a need for these school items. Belize is NCL's private island with shops. They also had zip lining & wildlife sanctuary you could walk through. I could've passed on this stop. The only reason to get off is to shop for souvenirs (the t-shirts were low quality there). Because of light winds we were not allowed to put up umbrellas and shaded spots were very limited. Pretty much every seat was taken. So finding a spot out there for even two people seating together was almost impossible. Also wanted to get my passport stamped and couldn't get it done here, as the immigration person was not obligated to be there :-( Costa Maya was a nice Island. As soon as you get off the Island there's a pool, music, lounge chairs and plenty of shopping. I believe you can swim with dolphins right there. It was crowded by the pool by the time we got off the ship, so we took a $8 taxi cab ride (around 8 minutes) over to 40 Canones and paid a minimum $20 drink/food order per person for access to beach side lounge chair with shade for a few hours. Cozumel was very hot this time of year. There is an open mall as soon as you get off the ship. You have to walk about five blocks to the right of mall to find information stand, where you can get your passport stamped (it's right by a 7-eleven). There are plenty of restaurants, cigar, liquor and souvenir shops to explore. Stay hydrated if you plan on walking around here. I think I got heat stroke from walking around Cozumel. Lastly, our ship was at sea while Hurricane Dorian was brewing. The communication during this time was not great. We found out when we were in Costa Maya that the Captain was in communication with multiple areas to figure out our ships next course of action. It seemed that skipping the final stop in Cozumel was most logical. However, we continued on to Cozumel. The Captain was waiting for further information regarding heading back to Port of Miami. On Friday August 30th before disembarkation in Cozumel, the Captain advised us to be back on ship no later than 4am August 31st. At this point people were leaving with suitcases trying to get flights out of Cancun, Mexico. At around 1pm on August 30th the Captain said that we received the all clear to head back to the Port of Miami and we were just waiting for those who were still not on board to head out. Unfortunately, many people were under the impression we didn't have to be back to the ship until 4am the next morning. Therefore, we had to wait for the remaining people that did not show back on ship until around 11pm. At that time the Captain was hauling towards Port of Miami. The next communication was when we were around Marathon, FL to say that there was a tropical storm warning in Florida and the Port of Miami would be closing at 10pm. This means we would not make it to Port of Miami in time. We missed our window to get back on dry land. Chaos ensued and the deck 6 was filled with pissed off people. Although the communication was slow and disorganized, ultimately NCL did a great job of getting people home. Any one who had booked/traveled by plane through NCL, booked air through 3rd party or drove to port fill out forms. This was to make arrangements for everyone to get back to their final destination. People who booked air travel through NCL was automatically put on the next available flights home, 3rd party bookings had to make their own arrangements and were offered a $300 credit per person (they needed to save receipts and submit for reimbursement). People who drove and parked in Miami got on chartered flights back to Miami, where they were met by buses to the Port of Miami. Anyone who used an outside park-n-ride was not able to get onto those chartered buses as the Port of Miami was not officially opened and was only excepting the chartered buses. Therefore, we had to call an Uber to get back to parking garage we used. All-in-all I think NCL really stepped up and got things taken care of. I believe that the people who are complaining were those that tried to take a proactive approach and make arrangements before seeing what NCL was going to offer. They came out of pocket because they didn't wait for instructions. Every change they made on flights cost them money that they couldn't get back for the changes they made. This was all based on the announcements made by the Captain. However, if they would have waited to find out how NCL was going to rectify the situation, they wouldn't have been out of some much money. Ultimately, we got an extra two days of vacation and made it back home safely. I would cruise with NCL again. Read Less

First time on a Norwegian Cruise ship. I have be told by others that Norwegian is the best cruise line. I have taken Princess and Carnival Cruise. My best experience was on the Viking Cruise one Seine River in Europe. Several of your restaurants like the Manhattan and Taste are at the 5 star level. My children are grown. But I enjoyed seeing the staff playing with the children and believe my grandchildren would enjoy this ship. The cabins were well designed with balconies. I enjoyed the many choices of lounges and quiet areas to rest, read, sleep or just look at the beautiful ocean. I chose to go to the beaches. I did not wish to take any excursions. I traveled with a group of 14 people who either attend my church or are close friends of members in the group. We have traveled together before. We wish to THANK THE NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE in arranging the buses and chartered airplanes to enable us all in returning to Miami. Thank GOD for a caring Cruiseline with a caring staff who are able to plan and make adjustments as needed. A special Thank You to the Captain of this ship. Read Less

NEGATIVES Photos cant only get on disc when complained of this manager said only corporate can make modifications and only pkgs starting 1 hundred on up or 19 for 1 Bingo 3 sheets $42 must be 21 but can gamble in casino at 18 Beer sampling additional and drinks cant ask for a double only a single Lbgq limited to one area and only to limited times that allowed straights to be in same room only advised on a flip screen in one area not on daily itinerary sheet Captain doesn't come down to dinner even on captain dinner night Sushi making class additional and not offered elsewhere on menu. When weather service forecasted that hurricane Dorian was going to hit port same as our return cs did not have any information until 3 days into it and was not announced till 3 days prior to departure date nothing was pre arranged causing hundreds of people to pay more to get off in a different port and make flight arrangements costing more. Limited 18 to 20 have limited things to do for their age group. One pool only deep end no shallow end with small water park. Salt water. putting kids and adults in pool and 3 jacuzzi together. Fancy app for royal however it is not available or supported on the ship Express of the seas They offer a tour of the kitchen but its additional of course. They have a decent comedian show. The ship is small so its easy to find your way around but takes forever for a elevator 2 smoking sections deck 6 and 10 both outside but no smoking in the casino. Future credit is given instead of present credit when on board when Hurricane Dorian kept us out to sea and was only 1 days worth of credit for the hassle of having to change flights, take additional time off work, kids off school and spend additional money that was not planned for. POSITIVES The dinner staff has excellent customer service Shiv and Xiangying were our food servers and they really made our Birthday and Anniversary special. Decent entertainment 80s dancing, karaoke , juggling acts, ragge music (loved the ragge band) the best shows are doable for early dinner but not unless you rush to get to the show from the pm dinner. More shows should be at 10pm not dinner at 8 and show at 9pm. Deals in the onboard shops Nurse and Dr available but times available not so great. Rooms are upgradable for a small charge of 1 hundred on up The room service is excellent and very clean. But we didn't have our beverage pkg cups until we asked for them. Laundry service good but slow Security is good and ontop of things but often I would smell marijuana onboard and sat next to a guy on my tender boat back to the ship who admitted it was in his bag. No issues with the stuff but if you're gonna say that you can't have it onboard then that obviously wasn't being monitored enough. Excursions are very good and easy to book , well organized but additional in cost range from $40 on up in the hundreds. Safety is of their biggest concern this is responsible and good . It would be nice if someone could give better insight to crew and guests in tough weather conditions other than headquarters holding up information till last minute. There is a gym and spa nice there is acupuncture that I showed interesting and helpful if in pain, facials, massage therapy and hair, nails but no sauna, no mineral pool, no steam rooms or hot chairs. The gym is small very busy in the morning and cruise days. Limited equipment and the jogging areas are limited around the deck. There is a rock climbing wall small one but no frills like mini golf or water boarding. Onboard credit is given before you board if your trip is changed example not able to go to Cuba and given credit to encourage people not to cancel. Casino nice but limited poker machines mostly tables. The bar in the casino has the best drinks on the ship. Schooner bar has good drinks the pirate burbon drink was a nice touch. Read Less

My family and I were looking for a quick getaway before school started back up again. We mainly chose this cruise because we wanted to see the newly renovated CocoCay and it did not disappoint. The ship was spotless, had plenty of staff, tons of places to sit and hang out. Our inside stateroom had a virtual balcony that we loved. We were expecting a small picture of an ocean view, not the full size live video feed. It was awesome!! If you are bored on this ship you are not looking hard enough because there are so many hints to do and see. Our dining room experience was awesome, we loved our waiters Rodrigo and Tomas and the food did not disappoint. I think I went to El Loco Fresh on the pool deck probably around 10 times throughout the 4 day cruise. The food was amazing and depending on how hungry you were you could get a snack or a meal. They advertised the Perfect Day at CocoCay a LOT but it lived up to the hype. The thrill park was tons of fun and the pool was refreshing. There were waiters everywhere and bathrooms and food were plentiful. I have been an avid NCL cruiser in the past but this Royal Caribbean cruise was a welcome change and I am looking forward to many more of them in the future. I can’t recommend this ship enough! We chose this cruise as a replacement option. Our Cuba cruise was cancelled by presidential order and NCL offered us to take this cruise, instead. Although the itinerary wasn't our first choice, vacation time was set aside and this was our only alternative. NCL discounted our cruise 50% and gave us a 50% discount towards a future cruise. Therefore, the deal was right. The vessel looks beautiful inside. We learned it was recently refurbished. Other than difficulty finding public bathrooms (few and far between), and the A/C blasting far too much, particularly around the Stardust theater (trust me, way too cold), the cruise was fabulous. The attention to detail and the incredible high customer service made it even better. Our recent experience with NCL wasn't good. Customer service was lacking, and the little things missing. This time around everyone was very attentive to our every need. A couple of disappointments included learning that our Platinum standing was limited to on-board discounts. We did not receive our "usual" perks (water, champagne, free laundry, free specialty dining, etc.). NCL claims that said perks are reserved for cruises in excess of 5 days, which was news to us. We had never heard such thing before. We did two tours: Atlantis on our own and swimming with the pigs. Both were perfectly organized and fun. A final thought: NCL must realize that Royal Caribbean and others charge virtually the same, do the same itineraries, and have a better reputation. Every time NCL changes the rules, it turns us off. We have two more cruises coming. Afterwards, we are going back to Royal. Read Less

We chose this ship and our first MSC for the itinerary to Cuba only but as it got cancelled we decided to stay with the offer of onboard credit and make the most of it plus 11 in our party so dates and two nights in Miami made our minds up ! Ship was better than the reviews I had read, yes older but spotless and crew could not be faulted in any way, in fact best crew ever on any ship we have sailed on, friendly knew our names and smiling the whole cruise. Cabin was as expected small but clean, of course we prefer Celebrity but difference in price reflected that. You do get what you pay for in life! Food was adequate, dinner was better in the Pegola restaurant, we had that privilege as my parents were suite passengers, but buffet was quite disappointing with lack of salads etc and very repetitive but Pizza was best at sea, delicious and very Italian. We had the premium drink package but found the cocktails already made up using very sweet syrups but stuck mainly to wine and Grey Goose. If you want to party and love Spanish style music and heavy reggae in the nightclub then this is the ship for you, there were a few different music singers in the bars but in all the ship was very Latin based in the entertainment field which suited us most of the time as we were a party crowd but was very loud so think carefully if you prefer a more peaceful cruise. Done one excursion to the falls in Jamaica, ok but not great organization except our guide in the falls, we done all others ourselves by using local transport and taxis. Would we go with MSC again, yes but a newer ship, also embankment was the quickest ever, walked on very quickly which was a great surprise. Read Less

I wanted to do a cruise for my birthday this year and after looking at several cruise lines we chose the Norwegian Sky because we liked the idea of cruising Freestyle. It was AMAZING! This was our first time cruising with Norwegian and we were so impressed that I honestly don’t think we will ever cruise with any other cruise lines. Everything was perfect from the price of our cabin, to the food, the entertainment and the drinks. We did not buy any specialty dining bc we aren’t big foodies but the choice of food was plenty. We aren’t breakfast eaters so I can’t give any tips on that but for lunch and dinner we chose to eat at the Palace or Crossroads. We did eat pizza one day up on the pool deck. We never ate at the buffet on the ship but we did at Great Stirrup Cay and the food was ok but we are not big buffet eaters. We loved Great Stirrup Cay and if we ever go back we will definitely be booking a cabana!! The ships entertainment was great and they also had a funny comedian. We also bought bingo cards and deal or no deal cards in which my husband got to play that game on stage and won $40. Our cabin was on the 10th floor inside cabin and it was perfect for us. It was the same size as our camper so we felt right at home. The only thing that I didn’t like was the pool. I felt like too many people were hogging it but other than that it was the best time ever. We did take extra cash to tip our servers even though we knew we were tipping them at the end. They definitely knew us by our faces and always appreciated the extra tip. We didn’t travel with kids but we did explore the area geared towards children and it looked like they would have fun at the arcade and the other room was like a preschool. All in all we had a fantastic time! Read Less

Background This was my 80th cruise overall, with most of them being on Celebrity in the past, followed by Royal Caribbean, Princess, Holland America, Cunard and Carnival. We found an incredible offer back in February on this 7-day cruise and could not pass it up. My partner and I went and traveled with a close friend of ours who booked a solo cabin. Pre-Cruise We started our journey in Miami. We actually flew into Fort Lauderdale the day before, picked up a rental car and enjoyed lunch before heading to Miami. We checked into the Holiday Inn Seaport and then returned the rental car. We took an Uber into South Beach for dinner before retiring for the night. We checked out at 11am and headed to the port via an Uber, which was very inexpensive. The Ship We arrived at the port and were onboard before noon. The entire process was easy. The ship is stunning. Magnificently constructed, although the gray and burgundy theme inside was not my favorite color palette, it was gorgeous. The layout was fun and different than any ship I had been on. The majority of the fellow passengers were from Europe, and we loved it. Our stateroom was on the 13th floor, a balcony aft. We had booked an inside guarantee and the upgrade fairy gave us a kiss... the first time ever for me to have this kind of upgrade! Also, MSC did a status match of my status with Celebrity, which was amazing. We loved the aft elevator being right outside our door and gave us quick access to the upper pool deck on 16 or the adult only pool on deck 7. Also, the buffet on either deck 16 or deck 8. Our stateroom was very spacious and perfect, I could not have asked for anything different. Food is always subjective. I have to say in my opinion, MSC does a very good job. The buffets for breakfast and lunch had a beautiful array of foods with a lot of variety. Overall everything was very good and we were always more than happy with what our choices were. At dinner, we had the 7:30pm seating on deck 5, table for 3. The food was very good, I still give Celebrity tops, but I have to say I think that MSC rivals the food that the rest of the lines offer. Service in the main dining room lacked a bit, our team had 3 other large tables of families, and they were all high maintenance, but we were patient and enjoyed. They do three seatings in two different dining rooms. Very courageous, but they pull it off.. the thought is exhausting to me if I were a server! The shows were excellent. We saw two, which we booked from an interactive screen onboard. We saw Wizard and Starwalker, both excellent. Just like the dining times being divided into 3, so are the shows. The theater is small and intimate, I think the smallest I have encountered. I did notice the missing orchestra pit and musicians, which I did really miss. Overall a great experience. The onboard entertainment was excellent. There was always something going on, and the live musicians were all very good. There were theme nights throughout the cruise that for the first time I have ever seen... people participated with vigor! They brought outfits and all. I have to say, I do not know how they knew about them as I never saw anything about them other than the white party, which I saw a post on Instagram about. The ports were great, although I would like the port times to be tweaked, but I understand the logistics with the 7-day itinerary. We were in San Juan first, from 5pm-1am. We walked into town and did dinner and had some cocktails. Next up was St. Thomas from 7am-7pm, we went to Secret Harbor and had a fabulous day of snorkeling and lounging. The restaurant there is not great and expensive, but the rest of the day was perfect. Third stop was St. Maarten from 7am-2pm, which is really too short if you want to go to Maho or across to Orient Bay, so we just walked into town and enjoyed our time. Last stop was Nassau from 12pm-6pm, where we went to Junkanoo beach which was just a few minute walk and we had a great day there. The chair hogs were out in the most amazing display I have ever seen. During peak times on days at sea I would say that 80% of the chairs were sitting empty with towels on them. Horrible. And nobody policing them. This is where the line needs to step up their game. The adult pool was great, although it was very deep at 6'5"... so be aware. It is salt water, which I loved. We had the easy package included with our stateroom and it was fantastic. They let you get two drinks at once, so we would often do doubles as their pours are small. If you want a foo-foo drink that is over the limit, they let you order one as a virgin with a shot on the side ;-). The internet was the best I have ever experienced. Instead of charging by the minute they charge by the GB. I loved it. I had a 3GB package included with the room and I worked every day and only used 1GB of it. If you avoid social media, videos and pics you are golden if you need to work. It was fast, too. Very happy. In the end.. MSC, you have us. We loved it and cannot wait to return. The value for the money is amazing. Read Less

We booked a couple months in advanced but were still able to get a balcony room. The room was still very tiny. We were on the 5th floor and out floor smelled moldy. There were holes in our curtains and the deck was very dirty. Our room was M245. The cruise director deon was great. There were alot of activities. The food at dinner was great. The breakfast buffet was poor. Half Moon Cay, was a joke! I could of stayed on the ship and had a better day. There is literally nothing on the island. Hopefully carnival does some updates in the future. They were doing maintenance on the ship the whole time of the cruise which was VERY LOUD and unpleasant. The ship gave us an onboard credit for the spa but didn't do us any good being that we dont go to the spa. I would never cruise on sensation again! Most likely will never cruise with carnival again Read Less

Cuba price reductions were very tempting as was “status match”. “Bella Class” reminded me of near-steerage at times, but cabin was close to elevator and main decks were very close. Staff was friendly, but every announcement was made in six additional languages, each longer than the last. Food at buffet was pretty much same as dining room except for appetizers and desserts, in neither case was the delay in eating really worth getting a miniature Baked Alaska or miniature Boston Cream Pie. Cocktails with the Captain (who was absent and ill) consisted of carbonated white wine or non -alcoholic fruit punch, with zero food products. Prizes for trivia etc. were basically less than nominal. “Maveric” was very pleasant. We were told to embark after 4 p.m., but embarked at 2, long after pretty much everyone else. Warning: cabin air conditioning appears erratic at best, off most of the time. Refrigerator in room had seeming the same concept. Whirlpools numbered two, for five persons each. When you wait for an hour for your turn, that does not help much. The Chef was very personable, but staff in the dining room was variable. If a good deal arose (apparently above “Bella” though I do not drink enough for a drink passage to make any sense) I might consider it again, but it is lowest of the four lines we have used at this point, alas. This was our first cruise. Brought my mom along. 3 in an oceanview stateroom was plenty roomy. Made sure to pack efficiently and brought hanging shelves for mine and hubby's clothes. Everyone on board the ship was so amazingly friendly! Always with a smile, always offering to help you out, etc. The only "complaint" would be that the buffet served the same food pretty much every day. Just wish there was a little bit more of a variety. The meals in the main dining rooms were great and the service was wonderful. Mom didn't care for something she ordered so they promptly got her a new meal. Another time we had ordered dessert, but I needed to get my mom back to the cabin quickly, so they packed it up and sent it back with my husband for us. Extra special touches!!! We truly loved it! So much so that I'm booking next year's cruise already! You've got loyal customers, Norwegian! Read Less

This ship was beautiful, decor, clean, several restaurant, all great. The staff, crew and service was top notch. Food was great everywhere we ate. The elevator system on the other hand is nightmare. If you push the button like 10 times it thinks there's more people so it comes quicker. But overall the engineer that designed that system needs a new job! Our cabin was an ocean view and very comfortable. The entertainment was great...and our cruise director Mike was awesome! Go to the Quest...it's late night, but ton's of fun. If you are easily offended not a good choice, but if you like to have some adult fun...take advantage of this event. Visit the wonderful IMAX Theater, they have a great selection of movies, a variety of show times and super nice theater. Also take advantage of the ships two floors of shops. I found several good deals with great choices. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I wanted something fun yet relaxing. I brought my sister and our husbands to join in this well needed vacation. It was our first time on a cruise, flying and leaving the country. The crew was outstanding. The crew helped with getting food substitution due to food preference and made sure corrections were made with meal orders. I had to tip my hat to how much they do with a smile on their face. I wanted something more adult and less kids, this was it. The on-board activities were awesome. Their was never a dull moment. I wish I had a chance to do more but time flew by so fast. If the sky ship was great, I could only imagine the other ships. The only thing I wish the ship had is more smoking sections. Deck 11 was the only place I knew that had a smoking section. It just became overcrowded at times. Overall, it was amazing! Thank you all for one of the greatest time of my life!!! Read Less

I will try to be brief and to the point. First the hits 1. Embarkation was very smooth. You go in by groups and can be enjoying the buffet by 12:30. 2. The entertainment is very good. The "Rock of Ages is killing it, however it is not appropriate for children or guests who are easily offended by sexual innuendo and scantly clad dancers. Burn the floor is excellent though I recommend their show in the Manhattan room, and it is only 30 minutes and the numbers are fast paced. The game shows are great but do depend on the craziness of the guests.I did not see the velvet show. The comedians were simply ok, same ole jokes about cruisers. The magician was very entertaining as he uses shy guests as examples. 3. Food was mediocre to just ok. I found nothing outstanding. I did not try the pay restaurants because why pay twice for food? 4. Service was again ok. I had very nice servers in the Manhattan room, Rihzel and Jeffrey were awesome. Other than that nothing special. 5. Ports Rotaan was fun, Harvest caye useless, Coste Maya a little seaweedy, and Cozumel was awesome, I went to an adventure park and snorkel for three hours. 6. Debarkation was again very smooth, off the ship in less than an hour. Read Less

We picked this cruise because the price is reasonable/cheaper than Carnival. 1. The embarkation and disembarkation were smoothly. 2. Ship is new and clean 3. Cabin is small just like any cruise ship cabin. The shower area seems small. 4. Breakfast/ lunch is good. Formal dining at night is good (way better than Chili’s, TGI Friday’s, Applebee’s . Comparable to Red Lobster but fewer selection. 5. Entertainment is great. Quality of shows is excellent. 5 stars to Steve Young (director of entertainment). All of the family shows are great, Peter Punk, Butterfly, Michael Jackson. But all adults shows perform by a group of 4 person is just ok. Would like to have few standup comedians shows. 6. Service is good. 7. Port and shore excursions have good timing. Except Saint Martin 7am to 2pm. We would like to go again. MSC going to have new ships in 2022, definitely looking forward to this one Read Less

We are just back from 1 14 day back to back cruise on the MSC Seaside and wanted to share our thoughts. I am a very critical person when travelling. Firstly I am not going to compare the Seaside with any other cruises we have sailed on which include Carnival, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean as I believe all have their good points and not so good and it is unfair to compare. The Seaside is a lovely, clean and very impressive ship. There are not many times you feel like you are onboard with 5000 passengers let alone another 1500 crew. We experienced only a very positive interaction with crew members with many taking time out to say hello and a general friendly approach especially to our 2 grandchildren who got lots of attention and high 5's. Embarkation and debarkation was very smooth and quick . Cabins - we had a balcony cabin and whilst cosy for 2 adults and 2 children it was comfortable and clean. Space can be a little tight but we adapted with bringing over the door organisers. I cannot comment on the room steward who whilst wasn't very visible always kept the room clean. Kids Club - our 2 grandchildren loved it and although we wanted to spend some good quality time with our 2 grandchildren on board it was nice to get those couple of hours to ourselves once in a while. Shows - a little confusing at times and some acts repeat over other shows later in the week but they are very professional and enjoyable. The Starwalker Michael Jackson tribute and show end on the Friday is a must see. You get a bit of everything at the shows, singing, dancing and Cirque de Soleil type performers. The beer prov children rated comedy show was very funny and a good watch. Food - we ate in the buffets for breakfast and lunch and the main dining room for dinner. This was probably our biggest disappointment. The buffet is a little repeatative and sometimes a little lacking in choice but the pizza is great and the late night cookies at the snack station were wonderfully soft and delicious. we ate in Ipanema main dining room and the waiting staff were friendly including the maitre d's even dancing with our granddaughter and always asking if we were ok and had a good day. service was a little slow on occasions and the very odd dish was not great but we felt the food could have been better overall. Guests - it is a very multi cultural guest list is the most polite way of putting it but again with 5000 guests from 120 nations you are going to get some who do not share your manners, standards and etiquette. Don't be put off by the completely negative comments you read about the MSC Seaside, I am very critical and would describe our experience as positive overall and YES I would sail with MSC again. I couldn't be happier w my first experience w/ Norwegian Cruise Lines. Thank you for thinking of everything - especially the ice cold face cloths when reboarding this ship from being at Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay. I will definitely be booking any and all future cruise trips with NCL. I absolutely loved the NCL crew who always got the party started and made sure to keep the party going. The food at every restaurant was delicious and the servers and staff were extremely friendly. I would recommend Norwegian Cruise Lines to all of my family and friends. This trip was a perfect getaway. My favorite part was the open bar. The bartenders were courteous and they know how to make the best tasting drinks. I was happy that they were not stingy w the liquor in the mixed drink, too! Mark my words... you will be seeing me again! Read Less

I really enjoyed everything from the karaoke bar to the mega party at Bliss haha. Bahamas was wonderful and also the Cay, I’m looking forward to travel with you again. Noelia (guest service agent) was so helpful, kind and very attentive. She definitely deserve all the good things. The bartenders were wonderful, like Errol from Local bar...he was very cool, funny, and respectful. The food was AMAZING, gosh.... everything about the food was wonderful. I heard people there saying that Norwegian is better cooker than Royal. I really wanted to go to Cuba (that was the main reason for go with you) but I don’t regret my week with. For my first time been on a cruise I can say that im definitely coming back. Ahh and also I Met some amazing people! Read Less

We booked this cruise to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We had planned to go to Cuba but because travel to that country was recently and suddenly revoked, NCL sent us to the Bahamas. We are very satisfied with the compensation from NCL. It is very generous especially considering it was out of their control. The ship was very clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We won our bid for a room upgrade and were given an aft-facing balcony room from a porthole room. The room was the perfect size for the 2 of us. The balcony had 2 chairs, a lounger and a table. If you are positioned closer to the sliding doors, it felt very private. If you are standing at the railing everyone above and to the sides can see you. Not a big deal for me. Our room steward, Wil, knew my name even before I met him. He had met my husband the day before and when he saw us together in the hallway the next day he said to us, "Hello Tom. And you must be Samantha. I am Wil. Nice to meet you." This was an impressive attention to personal details that I appreciated. He was always smiling every time we encountered him. We felt the vibrations from the engine, having this room, but it was not terribly disruptive. I would book another aft-facing balcony. We were close to the Garden Cafe, just 3 floors up, and would walk up and grab some snacks or a drink and bring them back to our room. We dined primarily in the dining rooms and the food was always good. Enough variety and the service was great. We also ate at Cagney's. They served one of the best ribeyes I have had anywhere and I live in cattle country. I will definitely dine there on our next trip. The sides were not memorable however. We also ate at Le Bistro. It was an intimate and quiet atmosphere for our anniversary dinner. Our server, Joshua was outstanding and he would playfully banter with the other server, both seeming to enjoy their jobs. Tip: Find the restroom before you go in. I got up during our meal and was directed outside of the restaurant. I never did find it. These were the best desserts we had all trip at Le Bistro. Bars are plentiful on this ship. We hit about 6 of them on our trip just to pick up a drink and carry-on. All had fast service except the poolside bar. This was because they were inundated all of the time. Not the fault of the bartenders. They worked quickly to keep up with the demand. I found it faster to go to the bar on the 12th deck, one deck up from the pool, then to wait at the poolside bar in that line. The bar in the sushi restaurant was rarely busy and they will serve you even if you don't eat. But the appetizer we had was good. FYI, we were told that it was ship policy not to serve drinks neat or to serve shots. All drinks must be poured over ice or mixed with soda or a mixer. However, I was able to order "after dinner drinks" like Frangelico or Gran Marnier, neat, in the restaurants. The only on board entertainment we took in was the adult comedian show, Landry. He was funny and I wasn't offended but he was crude. We walked by a one man piano bar show in the Atrium area that looked very entertaining but it seemed all of the seats were occupied so we moved on. We went to the White Hot party on Wednesday night of our sailing but we sat on the upper deck and watched the party going on below us. Everyone was having a blast dancing and listening to the music, us included. We spent some time in the casino. It was pretty crowded but I managed to get a seat at the roulette table on 2 separate occasions. It had a $10 minimum bet on our sailing and the colored chips are $2 chips. I have never encountered $2 chips before. Drink service here was lacking. For that matter, drink service was lacking next to the pool as well. We had a person serving cups of water on one occasion only. If we wanted a drink anywhere other then a meal, we had to walk up to a bar and get it ourselves, this included bottled water and soda pop. This didn't bother us much though. We got off of the ship in Freeport and walked the meager shops here. There are a few restaurants, small eateries and shops. We bought a few souvenirs and had some conch fritters that were ok. The locals were very friendly and we felt comfortable here. This port is very small and there isn't much to do if you don't book an excursion. We were exhausted from the previous days travels and wanted to enjoy some downtime on the ship and the port so we opted not to do an excursion here. We booked the Pearl Island excursion in Nassau. We were one of five ships in port that day and the port was extremely crowded! I was so glad we booked an excursion that took us away from the main hub of activity. Pearl Island was beautiful and quiet. Tip: If you are one of the first groups to arrive, don't stop at the first beach area you encounter. Keep walking down the island until you get to the private cabana areas and you can't go further. This area is quiet and we had it to ourselves for an hour and a half. We were luckily the first of 4 groups to arrive that day. They had clamshell lounges that are fee free and we had one of these all day. We brought our own snorkeling gear and were able to see lots of small fish near the rocks on the beach area. The water was pretty shallow. It would have been great for small kids. The drinks here were not strong and expensive. A 16oz drink was $14. A bottle of beer was $7. The provided lunch was delicious. Fish, BBQ chicken, rice and plantains. I wish we had more time here. 3 hours was not enough but I appreciated that they staggered the groups of guests so the island was never overcrowded. As we were leaving, the owner of the island came by our boat to see if we had enjoyed our visit. He said he kept the tour groups small on purpose for that reason. On the way back they took the boat by a few celebrity houses. That was fun. We were looking forward to a relaxing day at Great Stirrup Cay. It started out cloudy as soon as we boarded the tender. Tip: If you go down to board before 9am, you can get right on. After 9am, they assign you to a group and you have to wait to be called to board. Once on the island, we kept walking past all of the first groups of chairs. Tip: If you like the peace and quiet, don't stop at the first groups of chairs you find. Walk all the way to the private cabana area, at the end of the island, and this beach is more isolated, less crowded and there are rocks to snorkel around. There was a food truck, bathrooms and gazebo bar all nearby. Tip: They served beer in cans so bring a koozie. On this day we had about an hour before the rain started. And it never went away. It was just hard rain or light rain. This island was beautiful and I really wanted to enjoy it all day but the rain ruined it. I would love to go back on a dry day sometime. Since NCL owns this island, everything was included and it was all good. I recognized some of the crew from the ship working on the island as well. These people never get a break. LOL! Wonderful, hardworking people from all over the world. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. We have already booked another cruise with NCL to the Mexican Riviera in March and we will take our kids this time. We cannot wait to share the cruise experience with them. Read Less

Chose cruise due to dates & decided to revisit Western Caribbean due to ports. So many positives about this cruise. Food was excellent. We don't cruise for the food but it was really good, seasoned well and good variety. Buffet was great, even fish on buffet was delish. Salad bar was awesome. No way out flavors or items but a good mix and tried some new foods. We liked Manhattan a lot & wished we made it back there. Taste was good but reminded me of other cruise line dining, hectic and loud. We also enjoyed the Irish Pub (O'Sheenan's). Try the spinach/artichoke dip. Yum. Our cabin was great & our room stewardess was bubbly and pleasant. Very happy with both. Entertainment was the BEST. OMG, Syd Norman's is super fun. The live bands were surprisingly good. Went every night and loved it. What a pleasant surprise. Also, James Sullivan at Shakers Martini bar was excellent. Entertainment a step above other cruise lines. Went to Burn the Floor & Rock of Ages. Both good. But the BEST was Wine Lovers the Musical. Well worth the extra cost and Highly Recommend this very pleasant play and dining experience. So impressed. Ports were all fine. Snorkeling in Roatan the best. Mexico not so much. Now for the negatives: Bartenders were horrible for the most part. Unhappy & slow. Mostly males who took forever mixing a drink. Everyone complained about wait time. I waited 10 mins often for service and walked away several times w/o a drink. Beverage Manager needs to staff better and more tenders at most bars. Other negative was NCL allowing children in 18+ areas. NCL is so strict about other things but did not enforce age limits. & YOU CANNOT count on parents to do the right thing anymore. This should be strictly adhered to by cruise line. Child whined throughout Rock of Ages bc she was bored and mother didn't remove her. Children in Syd Norman under 18. And worst of all young (7/8) were in Howl at the Moon with pure vulgarity going on. More crude then necessary and I'm not usually sensitive to stuff. Parents let children rule this ship. Running everywhere, having meltdowns in halls, etc. Not really an NCL problem there but we do not see this on other cruise lines. Overall the ship offered many things but area's were very narrow and crowded. I have to give Breakaway an overall 4 due to Entertainment/food and cabin. Also played Trivia once in Syd Normans and had fun. We would cruise NCL again b/c of port selection and cleanliness of ship. Female dining staff and Garden Café waiters were all good and pleasant. Embarkment and disembarkment could both improve a little. Self assist slower than normal. Also, too many extra pay items. Read Less
