My husband and I have cruised more times then we can remember. With Princess, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity. This is by far the first time I have said, "never again with this cruise ship". And this is the second time we've given Carnival Imagination a try. Okay, so here we go...no hairdryers in the rooms. Come on! What cruise ship does not provide hairdryers now a days. No fridge in the rooms. Keep the safe, provide both, please! Okay, you know how many times you've had sample shampoos, hand creams etc. in your room? And you push them aside because they seem to just take up space in that tiny bathroom area? Well, I didn't bring hand cream because they always have some, right? NOT! So, let's get out of the Stateroom...the pool...GREEN! I asked why and was told "it's supposed to be like that"! REALLY? I'm from Florida...we know why a pool is green! Deli...1 person serving thousands of passengers! Hmmm...who's running that show? Pizza...asked for a certain pizza, which they advertised, waited 5-7 minutes and then was told, sorry we are closing. SERIOUSLY! A very nice gentleman that worked there told them to get me my pizza. They gave me a cheese pizza...thought I was dumb enough not to notice the difference, I guess! Tables were always dirty. We were picking up other guest dishes just to sit down and use the table! Restrooms were always dirty and some with no toilet paper. On the last day they turned off all the water in the restrooms! What was the reason for that?! Passengers were washing their hands in the hot tubs!! Okay...onto the Dining Room. Food was okay. Not great, not really good, just okay. I actually returned a dessert! I was with a party of 10, and out of 10 maybe 2 guest enjoyed their dinners. Service was excellent though!! Entertainment...awesome! Best part of the cruise!! Photographers were not the best. I usually buy a lot of pictures on cruises. This time, 2. One set of pictures were actually all blurry! So, we all agreed, 10 passengers with me that we won't be using Carnival Imagination again. This ship needs to be retired or the staff replaced. Seriously, something is definitely wrong here! Or maybe I've been cruising too long and expect too much? But, aren't you supposed to expect too much when you go cruising? Don't waste money on this ship, when there are so many more out there. Carnival has great ships that are a lot of fun, great service, and great food. Just not this one! Read Less

first there was four of us,when we got on they told us one had to sleep on a rollaway! My niece didn't really like that and said mom I may just cuddle with you! room was dingy and gloomy colors form the 70's. we went on our way and decided to make the best of it... ok time for bed..... rollaway is now totally gone out of the room no one said to remove it.... just wasn't sure she wanted to use it. As the day went on she had decided she could put up with it for a few days but for the money she shouldn't have had too! food was not that great and the main glass elevators by guest services kept sticking. Example we got stuck in the same elevator 4x through out the cruise and on one occasion a officer was stuck with us wedged the door enough to get out and just ran away and left us! We kept getting in it after they kept saying it was fixed. finially started just using the stairs.... on the return to port I lost a bag,,,,, well actually forgot it! I called and they said it was at the terminal Not......And they were so rude at the terminal demanding to know who told to return there and that it was there...... so again it cost me the taxi fair not just once but 3x's total back to south beach not cheap.... Well I finially found my luggage but only because the person whom took it did so by accident.. there moms and mine we alike and two members of there family grabbed a bag. of course they spoke Spanish and I my husband didn't but was able to get a number and my hotel called and retrieved it for me.. NO Thanks to Carnival.... And when I called they had the nerve to ask how I was able to track it down in a few hrs and that they would not have been able to do that or to have replaced anything because I didn't buy there insurance... but if it would make me happy they would file a complaint on my behalf about the terminal service and how we were treated on the Ship... Oh one more thing to make up for the bed mess up they sent sweets for three to my cabin that's right for 3 and yes there was 4 of us.... how stupid are they on this ship... And never sign up for anytime dining or you'll be waiting atleast an hr to eat.. and if you mis your beeper notice you can start all over...... I have been on this ship twice and I told my travel agent with Carnival to never ever book me with this ship again.. both time big issues.... and to many to keep on listing....... Read Less

I went along with my girlfriend on a three night cruise to Nassau aboard the Carnival Imagination. This was her second cruise and my sixth. I cruised Carnival about 10 years ago and as I recall had a great time. This time however was very different. Seems the port of Miami is the worst place to board a ship. We arrived around 11:30 and were able to get on board at 1:30. No reason was given for the delay but the waiting area was full of people and not enough seats. Once it was time to board we cleared one check point with ID and boarding pass only to be met at the gangway by another person checking the exact same credentials. This held up the lines from both sides of the waiting area. Once on board we went to grab a bite at the Horizon Grill buffet. This was our first experience with the awful food that we would encounter the entire cruise. First of all let me say that I am not a picky eater at all. The choices were minimal and the quality was very poor. As I looked around I could see plates of food that were not empty as people were not eating all of their food. After our visit to the Horizon Bar and Grill we went down to check on our cabin and found it ready. We had an outside cabin on the Rivera deck and it was nice and very clean. We had a wonderful cabin steward by the name of Eddy. He did a fantastic job the entire weekend. We have no complaints about the cabin with the exception of room service. Room service was never on time with our morning coffee. For dinner we had second seating at a table for ten people. The first two nights we sat with five other people and had a wonderful time talking to them. The menu items were ok but the food was not good. I had a pork chop that was hard to cut with a steak knife. I didn't have a good taste and the side items were very small portions. My girlfriend had pasta with shrimp, scallops and muscles. There were two shrimp and no scallops or muscles to be found and the taste was very bad. We tried both the Horizon and the dining room for breakfast and it was very poor. Just was not good food all around the entire cruise. We spoke with several people some first time cruisers and some experienced cruisers and they all said the food was very poor. This was my 6th cruise and the second this year. Let's just say that I don't think I'll be on Carnival again anytime soon. My girlfriend had someone call from Carnival the day after we returned to inquire about a future cruise and she told them of the poor food. He said that the Imagination is their lowest class ship. I can't believe he said that and didn't apologize. What ever happened to customer service? I just want to know if anyone else has experienced such poor food on Carnival? I would hope that they would improve so that first time cruisers might want to do another longer cruise. My girlfriend and I were telling firs timers to give cruising another chance but on another line. Read Less

I realize Carnival is what it is. And you get what you pay for but I was surprised at the rudeness of the staff from the very get go.I drove from Ohio with 7 family members to celebrate the last of my children graduating from high school. Got a great last minute price from Carnival for 3 rooms all at around 3100.00 all inside cabins. My drive was so long I wanted to get straight on board the ship since we got there and were checked in around 1:30.We were told our rooms were ready and I was ready for a quick nap before the safety drill. When trying to get onboard I bypassed the family photo thing thats was set up but I was blocked from entry by a photographer. Not a good thing to do to a guy who just drove 19 hours. He stated we needed to get inline and get a family picture taken before we got onboard.I told him no thank you because we were tired and I was sure there would be lots of other opportunity onboard for other pictures. He insisted and told me I needed to have the picture taken still blocking my way.I then told him that he would need to move now.Hi then had a friend come over and state "So you are just traveling not cruising" adding insult to injury. My son was getting ready to step in so I told them I didn't want any trouble. Can you believe a crew member blocking a passengers way onboard, acting aggressive and insulting a passenger? We then proceeded to the Grand Atrium where a fight had broke out between a guy and a girl (who continued to argue and fight all over the place on the cruise.)Wow and this was in my first ten minutes. Not to be negative about Carnival but you get what you pay for.I did speak to Guest Services about the incident and kudos to Ngonidzashe Mahasi who was a real gem and set up a meeting with the photo manager with me.The photo manager told me he had tried to get ahold of me several times Hmnnn there was no indication of those efforts???We discussed the incident. I asked him to comp one photo for me because of what happened. He refused to do so but thanked me for my comments.Okay.I have never had a inside cabin before (Im a balcony guy) but I can tell you it was a very nice cabin. Lots of space as well.I booked two other rooms for my two daughters and two sons plus one girlfriend and they were all nice rooms at a great price. Here was another great surprise.Ketut our room attendant was the best we have ever had and I have cruised on the Disney Dream and RC as well.Ketut was great he knew our names and used them as well as our family members. The food was good and they did have the Chocolate Buffet at noon one day which looked nice. The food was every bit as good as RC not as good as Disney serves up though. The shows..Well the welcome onboard show consisted of some people shoving a spoon on a rope down shirts and down pants??Not a very good way to start a cruise. The last show Shout was very good and very well done with some really nice laser effects. All the dancers and singers were spot on.Again though the shows don't really don't compare to RC or even close to Disney. But again you get what you pay for.Debarkation is Carnivals greatest asset-well organized and easy. Better than both RC and Disney. They may not be very good at getting you on the ship but they are aces at getting you off.I noticed there was no guest survey on if I was satisfied with my cruise HMMMN??The ships decoration was ok a little worn but not bad its typical Joe Farcus stuff plus the Water Park was pretty nice.Carnival is the one cruise line I noticed that seems to like to say NO to guests. Was in the dining room for only one meal.My daughter didn't like the choice of desserts so I asked the waiter to please go get her a piece of cheese cake with some strawberries (I know they served this in the coffee shop). At first I was told yes he then bought my daughter a piece of black forest cake.My daughter does not like chocolate I asked him again for a piece of New York style cheese cake.He told me he would not be able to get that for me.WowI asked for some fresh pineapple at breakfast I was told know they were not serving that until lunch. No one would get me a piece of pineapple I was told NoWow.My son (only his second cruise) asked if he could take the rum he purchased to his room.He was told No.Now let me pan out on this one. My son didn't know the rules which are well established but the staff member was rude in addressing him and even made fun of my son to a co worker calling him a moron for not knowing the rules.WowAre people still going to cruise Carnival?Sure they will because its cheap.Remember though you get what you pay forWhat ever happened to good customer service on a cruise though?Even if it is inexpensive?Atlantis was great of course and I will go into that on my port review.I would never cruise Carnival with just my wife and myself but again got a great deal for 7 people.Did we all have a good time?Yes pretty muchA cruise is what you make it.Plus my kids have little cruise experience to compare it to but they did notice how so many in the staff were just rude.Plus security on this ship was a joke.Kids were running wild at all hours of the night and even during the day there was a group of kids pelting guests with ice on the stairwell and nothing was done about it.The comment was made that the parents should take care of their kids.True but what about the protection of other guests? What happens to an elderly person if they get a hard piece of ice tossed at them from two decks up?Both me and my wife and my two daughters were past guests of Carnival and there was zero recognition or zero coupon books for past guests.I think the past guest thing will be a thing of the past for my cruise dollars.Save your money and go on a better line.Remember you get what you pay for. I am writing this review because i live by Cruise Critics reviews prior to booking any cruise. I have been on 8 cruises with Royal Caribbean, 1 with Ncl and now 1 with Carnival. i booked my trip on Carnivals Imagination 2 weeks prior to sail date as a last minute trip for my family, mainly becuase of the price, Carnival was almost $75 cheaper per person as opposed to RCL . I know understand the meaning of you get what you pay for. Embarkation: Alot less packed or complicated than RCL, walked right in scanned our pass ports and where on the ship in 15 minutes time. Once on the ship we went to our room which was already available and set down our carry ons. The rooms were alot bigger than i expected, the interior of the ship is outdated but not a big deal, atleast not for us. and the room was spacious enough for my husband, 3 kids and myself. The shower was also big enough to fit two people and plus. So far i was thinking this will be a great trip, the ship is not as pretty as its competition of Majesty of the Seas but it will serve its purpose. Leaving our rooms we went up to the pool deck , the kids were hungry so we waited about 30 minutes in line for hamburgers and fries. i was prepared for this thanks to fellow Cruise Critic members. i advised the whole family that there would not be a big variety of food and the lines would be as bad as waiting for a ride in Disney world. Again i was prepared and thought it to be a small inconvenience. The pool is very small and was packed at all times as well as the hot tubs, we never got to use any of it. We took the kids up to the Water Works which is the only thing good this ship has, we spent most of the day there really enjoying it as we had not yet encountered any major issues whatsoever. At about 5 we head back to our room to take showers and prepare for diner, when i made my reservation online i had chosen my time dining, becuase there was no more late dining available and early was just to early for us. I had brought on board in a small cooler my 2 year olds lactaid milk, i called guest services ( i had to call 3 x to get someone to answer the phone) to see if they have mini fridges availbla becuase i needed to store her milk. The woman that answered the phone told me they did but they only gave them to people who needed it for medicines such as insulin, she told me she would check and see if they had any available and she would call me back, two weeks later im still waiting for her call. When i realized they werent bringing the fridge i called room service and asked for ice, ( so that i could refill the melted one in the cooler) 2 hours later a bucket of ice is brought to my room, i proceed to put the ice in the cooler when 3 roaches fall into the cooler and out of the ice. GROSSSSS!!!! i was so disgusted. i threw out all the ice and asked them to bring me more which again took about 1 hour to get to my room, i waited a total of 3 hours to get clean ice! it is now 7 pm my ice is finally in the room everyone is ready for dinner so we go down to Spirit Dining room and show our cards and the woman looks at me and says you passed your dining time you cant eat here. EXCUSE ME. i thought i was crazy i said to her i'm sorry how can that be we have My Time Dining, this is my first time with Carnival but i believed it to be that we would come and have to wait to be seated but that we would be served. She said no that i didn not have my time dining that i had early Dining and that she was sorry but i could not eat there. I explained to her that i chose my time dining i went up to my room brought down my paperwork and showed her what i the customer reserved, she then told me the computer changed us and that she could do NOTHING to fix it. I have never seen such bad customer service in my life. I was beyond insulted as i believe it could have been handled differently, we were accompanied by 2 other familys friends of ours who the same thing happened to. needless to same we all ended up having to have diner in the buffet , and honestly the food sucked worse that i thought. All i could do was complain about the way we had been treated and from that moment on i knew i'd never sail Carnival again. The second day we woke up in the bahamas, had breakfast which was ok nothing to brag about but nothing to complain about either. We got off on the bahamas and took a taxi to paradise island been there a couple of times so it was just a peaceful beach day. We got back on the ship went to our room to shower early as we now knew we had early dining. When we walk into our room we see a card on the bed saying our dining request has been accepted and that we now had my time dining. We called the other 2 familys we were vacationing with to ask them if they had received that also and they had not. so we all got ready for diner and spoke with the main person in the dining room and he changed us back to early dining so that we could all eat together. At this point we were beyond getting upset and just happy we could all eat together. This night was their captains night and i do have to say the food was great in the dining room. After diner we went to Karaoke it was a blast had a great time and the nightclub was great also ( by great i mean the music was great ) the space was too packed people were literally having to dance outside the door. day 3 mostly relaxful day up until lunch time . We were eating in the pool deck and my 2 year old tells me shes thirsty and wants coke, i had purchased the coke cards for the kids as me and my husband do not drink sodas. I go up to the bar and show my daughters card and ask for a coke, the woman looks at me and says next time have your kids come get it. WHAT?!! I was back to being upset what way is that to speak to a customer. I understand why they have that mind frame but really? Diner again that night was great . My husband goes downstairs that night at about 1 am becuase we realize we havent recieved our tipping envelopes for gratuitys and he wants to close out his account, seems we didnt receive them becasue they automatically take it out of your credit card, to us thats a big NO NO we get to choose what we leave. He resolves that comes to the room and we finish up packing for an early debarkation the next morning. Debarkation was very easy no complaints whatsover. Tuesaday morning we are going over of credit cards and realize we have a charge from Carnival. We call and ask what the charge is for and they said that all the cokes in the room were drank. Now we were pist off all over again. We did not even touch the cans and spoke to the man and he said maybe the room service man wrote down wrong room number. Now whats crazy is that the other family that went with us was on a different deck and they had the same charge applied to them. it seems to me that Carnival charges people this at random hoping no one calls to complain and pockets easy money. i will tell you this if you are looking for a economically priced ship to drink on and get drunk and party this is the ship for you. i am 25 years old from Miami and i can appreciate the party enviorment but i also believe customer service is a must for a cruise line and Carnival simply lacks it. The hallways at 3am smell like piss, barf, alcohol and weed. Great ship if your going alone as in single or as a spring breaker. And may even be enjoyable for a family who does not know the customer service you are missing because they have no prior cruise experience to compare it to. As for us the $70 bucks a person we saved werent worth the aggrevation and poor service we received. We will NEVER do Carnival again and we are definetly telling everyone the trash that it is.
