We were excited to cruise to the ports on the extended cruise for 25th Anniversary. Little did we know it would be a 80s themed cruise both entertainment and passengers. If we did ...we never would have booked it. Be aware when we got back and I called Carnival told me that the older age group is common for the Journey Cruises. (Didn’t see that in the description)Other than that I can’t say enough about the crew, they were awesome. The cabin we had was nice for an older ship. We did love all of the ports and excursions. We snorkeled at all. But the repetition of entertainment was hard. For 12 days you need a bigger variety. We got bored. We have been on other cruises and will cruise again. Just not on a “Senior Cruise” lol. We are in our 50s not wild but do like to have fun! I’ve never been on a cruise that there was no dancing by the pool on sea days. The repetitive music was killing us if I never hear Hotel California on a steel drum I will die a happy woman. Read Less

Started my journey by driving to Ft Lauderdale on Friday before the cruise. Stayed at the Hampton Inn Cruise Port North. Great hotel for cruising out of Miami or Fort Lauderdale. They have a shuttle to Miami now and parking at hotel.. Left on Satuarday morning for parking in Miami. It took about thirty minutes to get to Safe cruise Parking lot. Easy to find and good shuttle service.Took about fifteen minutes from the lot to the ship. Arrived at ship about 1100 am for an 1130 check in time. Went thru the line more quickly than ever before. By 1130 I was already on the ship and in the Lido eating. Looked like half the ship was already there. As priority I had left my bag in the room.My key was not there yet , but room was open. Key was put in box around noon. Around 4 pm we has muster drill. The might have been the worst part of the trip. It was outside and took around thirty minutes. First night was a normal first night. Had dinner in main dining room. As then just roamed the ship Next two full days were sea days and the normal activities took place, Shows , Bingo. Karouke, comedy club. Second Night was the first formal night and normal lobster feast for those desiring . Tuesday was first shore day in St Crouix. Friends have a villa there we rented a car and visited there. Afterwards did a tour of Captain Morgan distillery. Then returned to boat for departure.. Wed was Shore day at Guadeloupe. The main currency here was the Euro. There were places to exchange money or you could use exchange that people would take. Took a taxi to beach where we found a Club Med and stayed on the each there. You could pay for chair and use of facility or use beach for nothing. Thursday Barbados was next port. I just took walk around town of Bridgetown and then took a rest. Friday Martinique took a ferry to the beach and spent the morning at the beach , rented a beach chair and umbrella for ten dollars. Afternoon returned to town and just did some site seeing. They also used Euros but more friendly to dollars Sat was Antiqua. My whole group took an tour pf the Island. Was supposed to be tow hours, turned into three and a half hours. Was a very good tour and great driver, and was a great price. After this took tour of shopping areas. Really is a beautiful Island Sunday was St Martin We all did out normal beach day , get a chair and umbrella and sit on the beach with a bucket of beers. and shopping. Monday was Tortola. had planned on ferry to Virgin Gorda but got off boat to late for early ferry, so took another two hour bus tour around entire Island from Carribbean side to Atlantic side. Really was a beautiful Island recovering still from Hurricane Irma. Next two and a half days were sea days with regular activities.for cruises. This was a journeys cruise so there were special activities going on during the cruise , such as ice sculpture feast on Tuesday night. There was also a second formal night on which lobster was again served. The Lido dining room was average, usual types of food was served, Best food on Lido was the grill where sandwiches were served usually the most popular place. Also had the greasy hamburger stand, Seafood shack was extra, Sushi was extra. Pizza was good as usual. Main dining room food was good to average. Service was good but some times the food was cold or luke warm. The desserts have become a joke in the dining room and the lido deck. Not a great variety. Used the banana split option several times. The ship was kept clean and when things did break they were usually quickly fixed. Older ship is stating to show rust , but they were painting at most ports. The entertainment in the ship lounges and common areas was some of the best i have seen on Carnival. I did not usually attend more than ten minutes of shows as i have seen mos if i recognized it i left. Had a hyptomist one night was really good. The cruise staff did a good job of leading activities during the cruise and usually had good attendance. The service was excellent i my room, dining area and quest services. Had no problems when i tried to get help. Cabin was good condition and steward was excellent. Had a safe needing a swipe card to open. Had a fridge that worked. Television was awful. Only news was CBSN . Kept running the same thing over and over and then had old news shows. Arrived home in Miami before 7 on thursday. Had several hundred people in priority debarkation and only too about 15 minutes to get off boat and thru customs. One of the best i have had in 25 cruises. My shuttle was waiting and by 730 i was on I 95. I would do this cruise again, great ports. Only down pat was it took to many days to get home, which i knew before hand Read Less

This was an awesome cruise overall!! The service and staff were amazing. The ports were very interesting and the Carnival excursion were a great value for what we paid. The food was very good as was the entertainment and activities. We really enjoyed the Serenity Deck and spent a lot of time there. Our room stewards were awesome very friendly and helpful with all of our requests. We did not go to the dining room only because we like to eat when and what we want. We never found line ups at the buffet and enjoyed the varied food choices. The ports are very beautiful and three were new to us which is one of the reasons we chose this cruise. We also enjoyed the Journey's cruise 12 days was awesome. We would definitely do another cruise on the Glory as well as another Journeys cruise. Cruise director Cookie was awesome. Read Less

We have travelled on Many Cruises(25+) over the years and was quite disappointed with the Glory, very out dated and the staff had great difficulty with English, this is the only cruise I had ever been on where It was so difficult to communicate with the staff, our cabin Steward (Dana) she was a pleasure to see each day, very pleasant, cheerful and very efficient, the dining room staff were pleasant, when it was possible to communicate with them, the food in the Dining Room was a bit repetitive and quite institutional compared with our experiences with the Conquest and the Breeze, where the food and service was exceptional, the Buffett on the Glory for Lunch and Dinner was extremely limited you can see the cut backs on food costs, it is ok to be concern with food costs but at least make the items appealing to your guests, it look cheap and tasted cheap. The overall hand sanitizing policy was not enforced on the Entrances to the various food venues, on other ships the staff are quick to tell you make sure you clean your hands before entering and there are usually hand Washing and Sanitizing stations available, there was not much emphasis on this important issue of hand washing to minimize the spread of Disease, the ship clearly needed better management for their Hotel Services, We will definitely think twice before booking with Carnival and never with the Carnival Casino Players Club a huge disappointment they use the Bait and Switch, they will offer promotions and perks with their program and once you board the ship, they have no knowledge of the offers, not a good way to do business. First of all, we love carnival. We are platinum. I have about 35 cruises with them and am loyal.. but this boat was hot! I was sweating like crazy everywhere and our cabin was even hotter. I did not have them come to check it out, my fault.. I wish I had. I just didnt want the interruption/inconvenience. This was the first time we did not fall in love with our dining staff. They are always so great and friendly and quick. I wonder if they changed the head waiter/ team waiter thing and they all now just don't give a ...... . Even when we went for brunch, it was the same thing. Like we were a distraction and inconvenience. That was a tad disheartening. Wish that experience had been better. Loved the casino staff.. they were great, as usual. Our room steward was awesome as well. Arnold was great! We will continue to travel with carnival, but some things need to be improved on this ship. December 03, 2016 started my second cruise in six years having completed my degree. I was invited by my two work colleagues to take the cruise.. did not regret. From the inception of boarding the Carnival Glory, we had a fantastic time touring the different countries. Our stewards were of excellent service. the ports visited were unforgettable and still linger on my mind. (Cayman Island, Belize, Rotan Honduras a favourite, Cosumel Mexico ) the many smiles from guests and workers made our week worth every cent. Our cabin was always well serviced. Every night we did fine dining - excellent stewards not to forget the entertainment Oh so lovely. The availability of the sauna, steam room, gym were my relaxing moments. It was definitely home away from home. I can't be over - I will definitely do it again and encourage others to do the same. Missing you Carnival Glory But looking forward to my next adventure. I chose this cruise for the great destinations. We stopped at Half Moon Cay Bahamas, St Thomas, Puerto Rico, and Grand Turk. The Bahamas and Grand Turk were the best two locations with plenty to do as soon as you walk off the ship. This part of the cruise was outstanding but other factors bring me to an overall average rating. First, I have never seen maintenance used on a cruise ship like it was used on the Carnival Glory. I was in the buffet line waiting for my omelete when I see a maintenance worker walking through the dinning room in dirty blue coveralls with a volt better hanging out of his pocket. I thought this was a poor display of consideration for customer satisfaction and not very appetizing for me at breakfast. On another occasion at dinner in the Lido Deck buffet, as I was sitting and eating dinner I notice a few feet away from me two maintenance workers repairing tiles inside the dinning room. They were wearing dirty coveralls and mixing grout. I witnessed them pour the grout in a dirty bucket and saw grout dust fly into the air way too close tower I was eating. They were also cutting tile at the time. I feel these type maintenance repairs should have been conducted when the dinning room was closed and shows absolutely no safety and hygiene regard for passengers eating their dinner. All throughout the ship I noticed maintenance workers with vacuum cleaners and extension cords near stairwells at times of high traffic. These functions should be done in the late hours of the evening when passengers are sleeping and during low levels of traffic. As far as entertainment, the Caribbean Boyz were outstanding and i found myself following them everywhere they performed on the ship. Derrick Eason was the only comedian that was outstanding. He had a great message and was very entertaining. As far as other areas in the ship such as the Gym, an attendant named Indra basically saved the cruise from being a disaster by finding a lost cell phone and promptly turning it into the front desk on deck 3. During this trip we only booked one shore excursion in Grand Turk. The Hummer Wildlife Tour was one of the best shore excursions I have ever had in ten years of cruising. The tour incorporated wildlife and history tours and was very enjoyable. The ship itself is a nice design. The only caveat to that assessment is the placement of the casino in the middle of deck 5 where you must walk through to get to other areas of the ship. The casino is a smoking zone so if you are a non smoker you will not enjoy having to navigate through this area on sea days. Most other ships I have been on place the casino in an area that as separate from the main common areas. So many things were outstanding and many things were poor on this cruise. That is why I come to an overall average rating. Read Less

We chose kind of last minute, less than 60 days. Our first choice for our 25th anniversary trip was not working out price wise or for the activities and entertainment we wanted. So we went for our tried and true fall back a cruise. I hated sailing out of Miami 30 years ago so I was not that happy to find the itinerary we wanted along with the few ships that still had handicapped cabins available was either out of Ft Lauderdale on an older Conquest class without the newer upgrades or out of Miami on a recently refurbished Conquest class. We normally sail the Spirit or Fantasy class due to easy of getting around on the ship for my husband. We also had to settle for an inside cabin, a first for us, but we thought the central location of the cabin would be a benefit, it was not. Read Less

This was our family's third cruise with Carnival. The web sight said this was an updated ship, that was completely untrue. The outside of the boat was missing paint in spots, rust everywhere, and was visibly dirty. The carpet thought out the ship was so old it was faded everywhere except the edges. The Dining room furniture looked like something goodwill would of thrown out, most of the lighting was out and the service was poor to say the least. Our room smelled of stale cigarettes, the drapes where so old the backing was falling off. We had an Ocean view room however we where unable to see out because of the build up on the glass, either that or the steam building up from the extremely hot room. Which we was told as long as it was 74*or less that was their standards. However when they checked the temp. it said 76*, which it remained the entirety of our cruise. The Lido deck tiles were loose and people where constantly tripping over them. The 21 and older area was a joke the fountain was not working and to boot it was disgusting. Tiles where falling off the wall and the speakers was rusted solid . The serenity deck was equally bad the glass was never cleaned thought out the cruise and the outdoor shower looked almost like it had calcium build up. The service on this boat was what really upset us the most. Several times in the dinning room I felt like getting up and serving myself. If we wanted a drink we had to get it. For the first time we bought the Cheers program costing us 804.00 so we could try and drink all these problems away. However that is a sham to because if you want a drink and it happens to be 10.00 your going to pay for it anyway. In "short " THIS BOAT THE SERVICE AND CLEAN UP CREW SUCK!!! Read Less

Embarkment.....2hours from getting there via taxi from Miami where we live till walking into our cabin. Friendly helpful people in all the stops before we boarded the ship, not know what to expect seeing it was our 1st cruise. Left house at 1130 was in our room by 130. Five starts for that. Cabin....we had a balcony. Highly recommend this feature. Worth the extra money. Large room with king sized bed. Shower head was awesome!!! Balcony was big. When I say big I mean two chairs, one is s lounge chair, and a table. Enough room for two people to eat at. fget the middle of the ship if you can, that was very good. Only complaint, we were underneath the red sail restaurant and from both inside cabin and on balcony you could here chairs being shifted. Little unnerving at 1am and then again at 7am. Room service was almost to good. Knocking on . your door at 9am to clean and make the bed. Beware hang your sleeping card outside your door before bed. Also did not like them coming to our door again at 5pm to see if we were going to dinner or not so they could turn down your bed,put a mint on your pillow and make a towel animals for you. Twice in one day? We were at port four times in seven days. Seems like they wanted to push us out so they would get their 11.50 per person tipping fee....I love a clean room but it was a little annoying toward the end when all you wanted ti do was sleep in or just stay in your cabin and order room service. The steward would look at us strangely when the last day we opened the door and told him to leave our room alone as we were just stepping out for a quick bite. We got back 20 minutes later to a half made heart on our bed and one mint...with the bed not turned down.... Food.....it was very good in the golden restaurant. We chose the open seating and casual dress. We waited five minutes at the most the tout nights we ate there. Not knowing you could order more than one thing off the menu and not pay for regular water,we found out by asking a lot of questions of our dining mates that sat next to us the first night. Water is free as long as you do not drink it out of a bottle. And no extra charge for ordering more than one main course, salad, soup,or dessert. Now the alcohol on the other hand...4.95 for the drink of the day if not in the glass of the day....beware. buckets if beer20-30 dollars fir four beers....imports are cheaper....wine is very pricey beware. The buffett at the red sail was hit or miss and could be crowed. Try the deli, taco and burritto bars very good!!!! Very filling!!!!! Orange juice, ice tea, coffee and lemonade are free. Yes you can take your food plates where ever you want even to your room,to another deck or eat in the food areas. Food is everywhere you just need to find it. The emerald steakhouse....30.00 extra a person .....I was not to impressed. Dressing io also to go in there is hit or miss. So ppl were really dressed up others had jeans and flip flops on. Steak was great had the cowboy 18oz....cook prefect. But everything else not so much. Dry snails, tasteless salad and our server really did not want to be there. Very drape gentalmen. Plates sat for ever dirty.....it took two hours for four courses and they push the wine and other drinks on you. Dessert for me was good,I had the cheese plate my husband ordered small cups of moose which he did not enjoy. We saw of server twice...would not spend money to go back there next trip. Good one time for the experience. Golden restaurant was much better!!!! The ports were awesome...getting off and back on a breeze!!!! Always double check when your getting off and back on. Start headed back one hour before departure. Nassau was beautiful Omg!!!!! Did not want to leave. St. Thomas beautiful.....San Jaun was dirty!!! The Spanish forts were awesome. Grand Turk was pretty just not much to see. There was a Jimmy buffets but we live in keys so been to key west one. We took a cab to town. Been to third world countries before but there was nothing in down town but small street vendors. Very poor country. People were wonderful. Just if you go there expecting a city like the other three ports you wont find one. So book an adventure that day. We walked the whole island in three hours and still had time to shop in port. I was do happy with the ports we saw!!!! Ship is big. Well kept up. Staff is friendly if you can understand their broken English. We had no problems with communication as we live in Miami. Some employees on the ship exspressed that that disliked working on the ship but only because I asked how they liked it. The pools were busy, so were the hot tubs. The serenity deck always had chairs, hot tubs with openings, its own bar,and not a lot of children. The children that were up there behaved them selves. No issues up there. Windy yes, cold at times yes,but nice because it was just adults. Getting off the ship and through customs easy and fast. Got off at 9am home at 11am. Overall five out of five stars. I would do it again!!!! Same ship if I had no other options but I like change. I will recommend carnival to all my friends and family and to other army families. 2000.00 for all food, drinks, cab ride and gifts for ppl heck yes!!! Happy cruising everyone!!!! Read Less

First, I've heard negative reviews about Carnival, that the crowd is "too young" the food is mediocre, etc. I did not have great expectations for this trip. The food, with the exception of some overcooked linguine at our first dinner, the food was quite good. The Emerald Steakhouse was well worth the $30 upcharge. It was so fabulous we dined there twice. The waitstaff at the Emerald was good, but the sommelier, a dark haired young woman whose name I can't recall was WONDERFUL. Get the surf and turf, it's delicious, beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. My husband raved about the cheese plate he had for dessert. Cheese cake was just OK. Caesar salads are done table side. Lovely! In the main dining room we were not able to dine with the rest of our group and were able to eat as a family of 8 (six adults 2 kids) only on Christmas night. We had to wait and beg and cajole to do even that. Most nights my husband and I ate with our 5 year old and the other 4 adults ate in a completely different dining room. Food was very good and the wine packages are a good value. Hobsi was our room steward and he was the best steward we've had in four cruises. We almost never saw him and the room was spotless. Just what you want in a room steward! We had a balcony room with a queen bed and both pullouts in use and while it was snug, it was fine. I wish we'd had a bathtub, which I've had on Princess in a balcony room and on Holland America in a balcony room. This was also the tiniest little balcony. Barely room for the four of us. In the Fun Shop our daughter met Candylee on the first day and Candylee remembered us and asked about our daughter each time we saw her. She was also extremely knowledgeable about spirits and generally a pleasure to talk with. Onboard. The sushi bar was just OK, nice that the option was available. The lines for Mongolian Wok were CRAZY and we didn't try it. The deli was quite good, fresh sandwiches made to order. Ditto the pizza bar behind Red Sail. While Red Sail was often busy, I thought it was well laid out and we never felt crowded. Our son loved the chocolate buffet. Christmas morning there was alcohol spiked egg nog available and it was delicious (and complimentary!) I did not attend any of the shows except for the Christmas day show that our 5 year old participated in, but the other members of our group raved about the high quality entertainment. From the dancers to the comedians and illusionists, they were very pleased. The dislikes. Josh, the tour director. It seemed like our relaxing mornings and evenings were shattered by his long winded (2-3 minutes) sales pitch for bingo, shopping and shows. By the third day we were thoroughly sick of his voice, sorry Josh, you made a good Santa, but every time you got on the PA our group couldn't wait for you to shut up. Also, when you're traveling with small children, having noisy, long winded PA announcements at 9:30 or later wake them up. : / Speaking of unpleasant noise, the music on the pool deck was deafening. When the movies were shown in the evening it was quieter than the blaring, blasting headache inducing music on deck during the day. The kid's programs were good. Our daughter enjoyed the crafts and play area. My biggest frustration with the kids programs is that they close from 1-2 and again from 5-6, which makes it impossible to get any relaxation or complete any activities in the afternoon. Once you've had lunch there is only 90 minutes left before they can go back, which isn't enough time to swim then freshen up afterward. When we picked up our daughter at 5p she always wanted a snack and the only food available at that time was pizza, burgers and hot dogs which she doesn't care for, a small salad bar would have been nice and a lighter option. Camp Carnival did serve dinner to the kids at 6p each evening and then back to Under the Rainbow for more activities which was very nice. Embarkation was OK, very crowded, lots and lots of standing around. Disembarking was a challenge, particularly for older members of our group, they were expected to take their luggage through the Amber Palace Theatre, navigate between the seats and exit the other side. Why? It's a mystery! Aside from that it was quite simple to exit the ship. Read Less

Let me begin be saying that I am not using the VIFP card but started cruising with Carnival in the 80's onboard the Mardi Gras out of Boston. Our 4pm departure took place at 7:30pm. No problem. We were excited for a 14 night "Journey" cruise. Dinner the first night and all but 3 of the 14 nights was at an unclothed table. No spoons at our settings and no butter knives available. A carafe of ice water was on the table for us to help ourselves to and every time we took a drink the condensation dripped onto our laps. Our shopping "expert" gave us all very good tips on what to buy in St. Martin but forget to mention that not one shop would be open because of a National Holiday. We purchased alcohol from the fun shops and have our receipt showing what bottles we put on the counter and paid for but....when we got home we found that they had decided what to put in our box. Not our order. Back to Miami- notice for number 1 luggage tags was announced at 7:15 am as well as self assist. We finally got our luggage at 9:30am. The entertainment, if you want to call it that, was very loud with constant flashing lights that could easily have induced an epileptic seizure. Will look at other cruise lines. Read Less
