Were are recent "Empty Nesters" and travel frequently, just never did the cruise thing. Boarding was better than we anticipated and really easy but we sprung for priority boarding - worth the extra $50 for us. Drove to the terminal and it was well marked and easy to navigate. Got a Junior Suite on the Veranda Deck and loved the location, our steward was very polite and attentive. We were pleased with the cleanliness of our cabin. We're foodies and the dining left a LOT to be desired. We chose Any Time Dining because we aren't in for the whole meet and eat with strangers at dinner thing we heard about, and for the most part it worked for us - different couple next to our "two top" every time and most were happy to keep to themselves. The food was average at best, quantity just doesn't make up for quality. Example Shrimp Cocktail was 31-40 size shrimp, soggy and presented in a plastic bowl - no thanks. The last night we paid the extra $20 for a meal upgrade to a surf and turf- should have saved our money. Filet was fatty and undercooked and the tail was small and rubbery. The wait staff was pleasant enough but seemed to be locked into their "system" and didn't appear too happy to deviate from it. Example- our "Headwaiter" wouldn't take a drink order and the bar service was SLOOOOW. Overall we got the impression we were eating dressed up cafeteria food. The Buffet lines on the Lido deck were OK but we try to avoid the "germ and booger" magnets they are with all the unsupervised kids running around. Hand sanitizer stations throughout the ship were a great idea - but I only found one that actually worked! The entertainment we saw was quite good, but the great majority of it was later than our usual bed time ( not the ships fault). Much of the ship seemed "empty" - as we never once saw many of the themed clubs open- again maybe it was because we weren't up at midnight. Loved the library - nice quiet well appointed space. Our "first choice" excursion was cancelled so we had to pick another - no biggie. It was well organized and easy off and back on the ship. Disembark was as easy as embark- carried our own - piece of cake. Overall the experience felt kinda "dated". IDEA - rather than passing out daily activity schedules ( kind of like church bulletins) how about an APP and a shipboard intranet wifi system? Overall a novel experience but we really aren't sure we will do it again. Read Less

Our trip included our family of 4 including our son and daughter who were 4 and 6 at the time of the cruise. Before the trip began, it didn't start off well. We booked over the phone with Carnival and were told we were going to receive a $75 shipboard credit. After booking, I checked and we had only received $65. $10 wasn't that big of a deal, but I called to see what had happened. My experience with their customer service went down hill from there as they called me a liar and said no one ever told me I would be getting $75. It took me suggesting they listen to the recording and get back to me, for them to do that. It should have been something they suggested instead of offering no apology and something like, "we're sorry you must have misunderstood." A couple of days later I received a sheepish call from customer service saying they had added the $10 to my account. That said, I think they felt bad, because when we got on board we had a $120 credit. We drove from Central Florida to Miami to get on the ship. The embarkation process was quick. We did not buy the $49 upgrade to get on early. We arrived at 12 noon and pretty much got right on after going through the lines. Overall the food was mediocre. I had one main dish at dinner that I really liked. I think it was a chicken and pasta dish. Otherwise, everything else was either over or under cooked and the variety was not much to shake a stick at. I did try the Pizza Pirate and it was a good thin crust pizza, but you have to hit the timing just right or you'll wait for a while. We were a little worried because less than 1 week prior to our sailing, a crew member died while trying to fix one of the elevators, which we rode on a couple of times. There was no hint of blood or tragedy and the crew was taking it very well. However, I did think the ship was cursed. The first night at about 3 AM, they woke everyone on board because they had a report of a possible man overboard. We had to wake the kids up and go to guest services and swipe our cards. At 8 AM the next morning, they were still searching along with the coast guard, but then stopped. They said everyone was accounted for at that time and we continued to Nassau. I still don't know exactly what happened. However, the crew compensated for the disruption and were not phased. They even extended the time in Nassau so everyone could explore. This is the beauty of being so close to Miami. The kids enjoyed their time in the kids club and we enjoyed our time alone. Motly we went to dinner and the comedy shows. The cabin was big enough and my daughter liked sleeping on the upper bunk. The only downside was the location. It was in the aft of the ship and I could feel all the vibrations of the engines as well as the motion. I usually don't get sea sick, but I was worried I might on this cruise. Maybe I'm just getting older. Next time I will try to book mid-ship. Read Less

As a prior passenger commented, we were also somewhat concerned about the incident that took place, a week before our cruise, whereby an elevator repair man tragically lost his life. As if that wasn't enough, we also had to contend with the false man overboard report in the middle of the night. However, these two incidences were clearly out of the control of Carnival Cruise Lines. We had purchased the faster to the fun pass and literally jumped ahead of quite a few passengers waiting in a Disney type line, well worth it. In addition we also purchased the Cheers Service, for the four of us, also worth it. If you are not a drinker, do not purchase this. We experienced excellent customer service and, overall, the food was fresh and tasty. We had the pleasure of listening to the group Magic Tractor for two nights, they did an amazing job. My only caveat was the cleanliness of the sink, I literally had to clean it myself to my satisfaction but that's me being picky. We had a great time at the Bahamas and would definitely return on this ship. Read Less

Cabin was extremely clean as was the rest of the ship. Staff was very attentive to making sure all needs were being met. Staff was all around ship cleaning. We were asked if we wanted room cleaned in morning or evening which is a plus for late risers. Food was above cruising standards. Room service was always on point with hot food. The best feature is the new debarkation process. passengers with carry ons now leave the ship first using the elevators that are reserved by designation of floor being called. The only complaint here is that passengers exiting from the right cabin side should have the elevators on the right side held for them and same with left side. People were online from the right side and passengers from the left side were cutting in line to get to elevators. other than that, it was a much quicker process of leaving the ship. My only concern here is about the tragic death of an employee on the 27th of December that has not yet been reported in the news or on Carnivals blog. Perhaps they are waiting to notify family. Satisfied carnival cruiser. Read Less

I don't even know where to begin. First let me start by saying, typically we only cruise on royal caribbean (one of the most amazing cruise lines) but we decided to give carnival a shot. I can say 100% they blew there shot 110%. Very outdated. Disgustingly horrific customer service. Every staff member on board was rude and and absolutely no knowledge of anything we asked and barely spoke good english. There was food in the hallways from room service and it took them at least 1 day and a half to remove it. We had bugs, mold & mildew in our shower. I myself can understand a mistake or 2 but once we discovered dirty/used gloves on our bed from the state room attendant cleaning toilets showers and anything else that was the end of our belief in ever cruising with carnival again. Then the next day we discovered the state room attendant broke my wife $300.00 sunglasses. Their excuses was "we provide safes in each room, you guys should have used it". So i guess we aren't allowed to set our personal belongings down anywhere safely on carnival cruise lines. The on our last night we discovered what looked to be either old dried up blood or poop on our sheets. So basically the bottom line is, if your looking for cruises to attend, trust me when i tell you to stay far far away from carnival. If you have never cruised before you may not know the difference between good and bad cruise line service. So you need to take other peoples word for it in order to avoid making the mistake. It may seem like they have better prices than other cruise lines but with carnival your going to get much less than you bargain for. Look into royal caribbean cruise and you will be much happier with the results of your vacation. Carnival has absolutely not one single benefit on royal caribbean. Even a man had a heart attack and past away while cruising and it took medical response a very long time to show up. I know because my mother was the one performing cpr on the guy before they showed up. Read Less

This cruise was very inexpensive so our expectations were a little lower than they normally would be. But the staff overall offered service that was above and beyond. We were traveling with our two small children. They enjoyed the kids' club and the various activities around the boat. We loved the Dr. Seuss breakfast (additional $5/per person, but so worth it). The pools got crowded at times and the whirlpools were often filled with 14-16 kids (with a bather load of 8). The buffet food was alright, but the dining room meals were very good. The night time entertainment was not exceptional, but rather good. And the night owls baby sitting service was reasonably priced. Our biggest complaints were about the other passengers, but as I said, the cruise was very inexpensive and that drew a certain crowd. We did upgrade to the Faster to the Fun so we had priority boarding and disembarkation and priority guest services. It was worth the small price for us as we had to be back for work on Monday morning. Read Less

This was a last minute family cruise after Thanksgiving. It consisted of my husband, myself, and our three kids (10, 9, and 6). I had been on one Carnival cruise 7 years ago as a girls trip and then a Disney cruise 3 years go with the family. I was a bit hesitant to take a 3 day cruise on Carnival. 1) I thought it might feel to short and 2) after having been on Disney my expectations might not be met. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun we all had. In Miami, this was the only time I felt the Faster to Fun Pass everyone talks about might be useful. We arrived at port at around 2 p.m. and parked across the street with only backpacks for each of us. We walked into the port and had our initial view of passports scanned probably within 5 minutes. Then went up the stairs only to endure a line that lasted about 30 minutes to get through. Checking in once at the desk took less than 10 minutes, maybe 5 as we had all our paperwork ready. They sent us to the right which when you go this way you can skip around the "picture" area and head right on board. We opted to do that. Once on the ship we went straight to our room which was an inside (again last minute cruise) for the five of us on the Riviera Deck (R90). If you want to say close quarters it was close quarters. We had the two singles pushed together and then one bunk over that (first night hit my head twice on that to bunk) and another on the other side of the wall with a small bed on the floor. There was no space. But this room worked well for us as we were only ever in it to get ready for dinner or go to bed. And we took stairs for everything. I think we wondered upstairs to get something to eat on the Lido deck. I must say food was not the greatest on this ship or at least in my opinion. For this lunch I opted for the salad and fresh fruit. My kids did pizza and then maybe a few other things along the way. Shortly after we headed to our Muster Drill which was painless even though they treat you like your dumb. Our was in the Blue Sapphire so we had nice seats and then headed up to our area once done with that. Finally, head to the waterworks which my kids enjoyed for a good hour before we had to get ready for dinner. We did not watch the sail away party or anything of that nature. Dinner we talked to the Maitre D and ended up sitting next to our friends who had a daughter 11 and son 4. Felt bad for the "few" people around us as most were couples and they had to endure five kids who did rather well, but not as peaceful as I am sure some would have liked. Every night the staff in the main dining room which I think ours was the song (which ever is "aft" of the ship which first night is very hard to find as you are better taking the room hallways and going to aft stairs to get up to the dining room). Took a little to figure that out. Dinner was okay, but has everyone mentions the desert "chocolate cake" is delicious. After dinner kids went into the clubs for an hour while the adults went to get drinks. The four year old went into the "penguins" room, my 6 year old was I think in the "sharks" and the 9 - 11 years old were often in the conference room which is I think one down (or up) from the dining room. I think for the younger group especially penguins kids seemed to love the activities. The older not so much. I would tend to agree it wasn't as good of a kids club as I recall. And one woman working the front desk was older and a real stickler of anything called "fun". I often tried to figure out how she was put into this area as she didn't seem a good match for a kids area. But over the three nights they survived. The next morning before getting off the ship in the Bahamas they did the Dr. Seuss Parade. Definitely suited more for the younger crowd, but we did it none the less. The downside is they go from the Theater past the Casino and all the smoke into the main lobby area. I know it is a parade, but seems like maybe better suited on Lido deck or away from the Casino. Again, pretty neat though they now have this on Carnival. We had been to Atlantis this past summer for a week so it wasn't on my kids agenda to do again plus I didn't want to pay what it would cost for a one day trip for the five of us. I do recommend doing the Comfort Suites as I think that would be the most cost effective way to see Atlantis if you were doing a cruise. We ended up off the ship close to 11. Simple process. My husband was out to watch the Michigan/OSU game so we left him a long the way. I think he watched in some Pirate Bar that had a big screen TV. I with our friends walked over to where Junkanoo Beach entrance (off the ship to the right around the Hyatt, maybe 10 minute walk) next to Fat Tuesdays. This was very adequate for what we were looking for. Beach/Sun. I think about an hour in I walked over to Fat Tuesdays and ordered the normal chicken fingers, fries, and sandwich for kids. I think came to like $50 for what amounted to not much, but common in Nassau. If anyone wanted a good vibe atmosphere with the water and breeze I would recommend Fat Tuesdays. Had I not been with my kids I would have sat their with the music and a drinks in hand. I thought the locals selling items coming around were not pushy at all. Kids played in the water or sand for a good 2.5 hours. Afterwards we walked back to the ship. One note, when you are heading back to the ship make sure you have your sailcard as well as a picture ID. My friend did not at port authority almost gave her a hard time. But because I had my passport we got on. something they forget to tell you. The kids played up at the main pool and played miniature golf the rest of the afternoon as well as ate a bit more. We went to dinner at 6 and I thought tonight's meal was better than the night before. I had shrimp is what I recall and it was good. This night was also "formal" night if you so chose. We did, but only dressed up for dinner and went back and changed. Also this night was The Hasbro Game show. I had talked this up to my kids and my daughter was really excited about it. She was like we have to get their early. Probably showed up about 5 minutes before start and ended up with one of the big booths in the back of the theater along with the three older kids in the back row of the main seating area. They start of picking the teams by asking questions of some sort. I didn't think we would get anyone on stage, but my daughter being crazy and jumping up and down was the 2nd one picked. Then my younger son was the last one picked for that same team. Their game was the connect 4 basketball. It really looked like they weren't going to win, but did. For the losing team you get a little handheld Hasbro game so anyone on stage walks away a winner. Then they pick new teams and play Simon. This was funny to watch as their one always one color not in the right order. At the end the winning teams go and pick a card like you would on family game night worth a value. You then put your card into the ATM like machine and whom ever has the highest told wins a giftcard to Hasbro for a nice chunk of change. My daughter ended winning the giftcard. She was so excited as were we. Again unexpected. I would really say if you want on stage for this game jump up and down and on the furniture. The next day is sea day. I think we did mostly the same with pools and miniature golf. Around 3 sent the kids to the clubs and sat in the Serenity Deck which was where I think most of the single college kids looking to hook up hung out. But my husband and I enjoyed the comfy chairs and no kids for a good hour. That night we opted for dinner at the Lido deck and the kids did the dinner with the kids club. You show-up at 6 in the Lido deck and sign them in and they bring them food. It was nice. We then went to the lobby and listened to a musician. She was phenomenal. Went and got the kids to attend the family comedy show. This was cute as it was "yo mama" jokes and there were 15 kids that opted to go on stage with the comedian to tell jokes. My daughter did it again. It really was a cute funny show. Afterwards we put them all back in the clubs and listened to two more comedians before calling it a night. They weren't happy by this point as I guess the clubs were boring. However, the two younger kids enjoyed theirs. We carried off our bags for this trip. At about 6:45 am did a quick breakfast upstairs then met our friends on the 6th floor (they had a suite) as their floor offered to get off the ship quicker than our floor. Well we timed it perfectly to go to the aft stairs and up to the 7th floor and walked right off at 7:30 when they cleared us to disembark. That couldn't have worked out better. Getting out of Miami and back to our home we hit traffic, but again this worked out well. Overall, I thought this was not the party ship I read so much about. It could have been the fact of the holiday, but we enjoyed ourselves and my kids a week later are talking about doing another. I would recommend to anyone for a quick getaway as it felt longer than 2.5 days. Some notes: Mongolian is the best place to eat on ship, but is only open 12:30 - 3:30 and you want to be in line before 12:30 or go closer to when it is about to close. The water slides are fun as is the miniature golf. If you want to do this cheap go for the inside room. We didn't feel this trip the balcony would have mattered much to us as we were not in our room much. And again in Nassau you really can do it cheap if you so choose. I do recommend getting up the morning they leave Nassau and watch the boat leave. Beautiful views! Overall a great family getaway. Read Less

This was my first cruise and I was terrified about the trip, I have read the other reviews and I didn't experience anything other than fun and entertainment. Maybe they picked the wrong time of year to cruise. I'm a very picky woman somewhat hard to please and I get upset easily about things that's not up to my standards. I can smell foul odors a mile away, I don't like filth and I don't do dirt. So my experience on the Ecstasy was very delightful and fun the bed was comfortable four of us, and we all are plus women shared a cabin and me and my friend had more than enough space for our clothes and shoes (we like to dress) it was clean and odor less, the food was tasty well prepared and the dishes and utensils was clean me and my kids always ask for hot water to sterilized the utensils I didn't see a need for a cup of hot water on the ship, it was lit through out the ship. As for kids , no I wouldn't recommend it if you don't want your kids to hear profanity or see half dressed women, my baby is 24 yrs old so it wouldn't bother me and as one reviewer said Disney would be better for kids but you must remember anywhere there's alcohol and adults it will be somethings that conservative people will have a problem with. Also everybody is different , different cultures, life styles and so much more. So my advice to you guys that had a bad experience OH WEll, you get what you pay for and remember things don't always go as planned. Now for as Bahamas the tour; if I wanted to see the ghetto and poor neighborhoods I would have drove the streets of some spots in Miami. I was very satisfied with the cruise ship , its décor, entertainment, food, cabins, cleanliness, and its staff. The karaoke was the only thing I wasn't satisfied with they need more songs, artist, updated music and system. And I enjoyed the show that was put on for the kids. The gym was nice and equipped, modern day and the Spa was on Point! The teaching sessions was good towel animals and facials, plus bingo was awesome. As I stated I was overwhelmed and all my fears erased after reaching my destination and embarkation safe and sound!! Read Less

I like to give detailed reviews on my cruises because the more detailed it is the more helpful I think it would be for other cruisers: We went to the C. Ecstasy from Oct. 30th - Nov. 2nd/2015. FOOD: The food on the main dinning room, as always, was outstanding, the service was very slow but the food was delicious; the food on the buffet was OK, but the breakfast on the buffet was AWFUL; this is my 3rd cruise, 2nd with Carnival and the breakfast on this ship was the worst in the world, everything tasted like carton, get away from it!! The buffet during the rest of the day was very good, the ice cream machine is perfect and so was the pizza! They are both very good!! Buy the CHEERS! program, is totally worth it and there are servers anywhere so you can get your drink fast! ENTERTAINMENT: The shows on the theater were very low quality, the first night show was OK but the rest of the shows were extremely boring and you can notice that on how empty the theater was; Carnival needs to invest a little more on their entertainment; the casino was fun and so were the rest of the bars; the nightclub was so much fun! they always had good music; I didn´t like that the bars on the pool closed so early; the hairy chest contest was very fun! SHIP: We were a group of 8 people (6 new cruisers) accomodatted in 2 oceanview stateroom on deck 5. The rooms were perfect, very comfy and perfect for 4 people; it was clean and the a/c was perfect; our steward, Rachel, was very nice and she made our room once a day in the afternoon; I wish she left us some animal towels since it was the first cruise for most of the group and I wanted them to have a great impression. The ship was old but very clean and very well maintained, you can barely notice that the ship is over 20 years old. The ship is very small but there are many things to do on board. STAFF: Most of the staff was cranky and rude, I hated the bar tenders, servers on the main dinning room and the staff taking photographs, they need to improve their attitude or leave the ship; the people on the shops are very nice and funny (Jose from the liquor store and Juan from the gallery/accesories)! The director Adam is so so, nothing special. NASSAU, BAHAMAS: I was a bit dissapointed from this place, probably because our tour guide sucked, she took us to the poor areas and never let us get off the car to take photos, she was a little slow and didn´t know much about Nassau; we wasted a lot of time with her, but at the end we ended up going to JUNKALOO BEACH were we had a BLAST! You have to spent your afternoon in CRAB-N-TING, their server, ASHLEY is the best in the whole world! She is so much fun, her service was outstanding and they treated us like kings! Best time ever plus you get to put your own music, they have speakers for you using bluetooth. At night we went to a nightclub located in the ATLANTIS Hotel and we had so much fun, just be careful because the club has a cashless system and is very expensive, but the people and music are so much better than anywhere. OVERALL EXPERIENCE: I had a lot of fun with my friends, we partied a lot, met fun people and we ate a lot; the ship is old but you cant really see it, its very well maintained but still I would never go back to a small Carnival ship, I prefer by far the newer and bigger ships from Carnival; most of the people on this ship is very ugly, so have an open mind, just have fun, drink it up and laugh it off! Everything was almost perfect; I love Carnival, just a few details like the shows and the breakfast, they suck. Thank you again Carnival !! See you soon again!! Read Less

I live in Fort Myers, FL so the drive over to Miami is only about 2 1/2 hours for me. For that reason we booked this as a fun, family weekend getaway and an opportunity to take our 7 year old son on his first cruise that didn't break the bank. I had read about Faster to the Fun and we decided to purchase it. Overall I believe it was well worth it. My husband timed from the moment we stepped into the terminal to the moment we stepped on the cruise. It was 26 minutes. His brother had waited in line for over an hour and a half when he had gone on the same cruise. Also, when we disembarked, there was a special meeting place for the Faster to the Fun cruisers and we were on the interstate driving home by 9:30 am. It also comes with priority tenders in ports that require this but we didn't have a port that they needed to tender on so we didn't get to experience that part. I will definitely purchase this again on our next cruise (May 2016). The cabin was very clean and comfortable and quite (R242). I did not have a single complaint about it at all. We got our towel animals every day and the cabin crew made sure they put our pull-down bunk away every morning after we left the cabin and it was down waiting for bedtime while we were at dinner every night. We chose the early dining (6:00 pm). All of the food in the dining room was very good. We actually had an 8 person table and we were the only 3 that showed up every night. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and even brought us extra lobster tails and shrimp on formal night. He even made napkin animals at the request of my son! The buffet food was pretty much what you would expect. I would suggest waiting in the omelet line over eating the scrambled eggs (i think they are powdered eggs). Other than that as I said it was as good as what you would get in a buffet restaurant. We went to Nassau, Bahamas and chose the special Dolphin/Stingray/Private Island excursion. It was AMAZING! We got off the boat and followed our crew to another boat that was shaded and took us to Balmoral Island. It was not very crowded and they played music on the way over so it was a very enjoyable ride. When we got there we went to our meeting about dolphin safety and then we all put on life jackets and headed down to meet our dolphins. We were split into groups and our group had about 10 people in it. We walked into the water and the dolphin (ours was named Fiona!) came right over and started swimming around us. We each got an ample turn taking pictures with her, and then we all lined up to learn some awesome things about her as she kept swimming by us to get her "rub-downs". After we finished with the dolphin we went over to the stingray area (their stingers are removed) and they were all swimming all around us as we pet them and fed them. After that we had time to just enjoy the island, it seemed so exclusive as there was hardly no one there. There is a bar, a saltwater swimming pool, chairs with umbrellas (plenty of them), music and even a shaded area to relax and read or play board games. All in all this was one of the most amazing days of my life! I would definitely go back! One of the major gripes that I had about this cruise is that before we went on this cruise, I went ahead and booked another cruise with Carnival for May of next year. While on the cruise we learned that if you book a future cruise while currently on a cruise that you get extra incentives. I went to the loyalty desk and explained that I did not know about this perk and they basically said there was nothing they could do. Basically if I had booked the same cruise while I was on the ship, I would've gotten $100 off the price of the cruise and $100 onboard credit for each passenger. I called Carnival when I got home and no one seems interested in doing anything for me. Due to this, I will think long and hard before booking any future cruises on Carnival. We are planning a Hawaiian cruise in 2017 and Carnival is my last choice. All in all this was a good cruise if you are looking for something low price and fun for a weekend getaway. This is not a luxurious cruise by any means. Read Less

While planning a girl's weekend recently, the bride picked Carnival because she had heard about the "younger" crowd and wanted to have a good time where the cruise was geared toward younger people. Apparently it was a popular weekend, because there were 9 other bachelorette and bachelor parties that weekend. We were excited to all be on the same floor, as it made sense if they thought we would have similar interests. The problem is, our cruise was booked 7+ months ago and our accommodations were massively uncomfortable and demeaning. As my other complaints with Carnival, the service was atrocious and the food was mediocre on the nights that it was not awful! I was very pleasantly surprised by the ship's appearance, as it was more updated than I would have thought it to be. I do not need much but a clean bed and bathroom when on a cruise for accommodations but that did not even offer this. We booked two rooms for 5 girl's and as 3 of us are avid cruisers, we knew that we would receive a 3rd bed in the form of a pull down/bunk etc what we did not expect to happen was have a LAWN CHAIR with the thinnest mattress possible. The end of the mattress was off the lawn chair (which they referred to as a trundle!) and I wound up sleeping in a SINGLE bed with another girl (foot to face) because we could NOT sleep on that lawn chair. It is disgusting to think that this accommodation would be adequate to anyone, so I politely asked the steward to find us another room- He told us that the other rooms with pull down beds were taken and that there were too many people on that floor with 3 or more people. That evening while hanging out with the other groups, we went in to 9 rooms booked within 4 other parties - each room contained either king beds with bunks on top, two bunks on top and one queen , etc etc Compared to our TWO SINGLE AND ONE LAWN CHAIR I would say this is an issue. If you can not accommodate people without having them sleep on a lawn chair- do not allow them to book. This type of accommodation would be something I might allow my 4 year old to sleep on, but probably not. The first night, service was fabulous in the dining room, second and third night the people were so rude they actually made one girl cry - (I forgot if it was the 2nd or 3rd night, but they were rude both nights). The "Smoking area" in the casino bar changed every hour or so based on which bartenders were there. One day I was sitting to the left of the smoking sign and bartender moved it to the other side and stated "If there are no seats you can stand behind them to smoke" - so later, I did just that but was approached by another bartender who yelled at me and told me to "put my cigarette out" if I could not find a seat in the smoking section. We were constantly waiting on bartenders to serve us and even approach us and when they did, if we ordered so much as anything more difficult than a wine, it was messed up. Luckily, we stayed in the Bahamas overnight so we had a blast spending our money offsite at Senor Frogs because quite frankly, I was not willing to give them Carnival any extra money - As far as I am concerned, being expected to sleep on the floor means I over paid them. Our steward was friendly enough, especially after a 50.00 tip between our two rooms but he still failed to fill our ice buckets and clean our room without stepping on what was expected to be a bed. (That had more foot prints on it than you could imagine because navigating the room with that on the floor was a JOKE). Disembarkation was pretty decent aside from the chaos of guests who like to act as if they are not used to be in public, which is of course, no fault of Carnival's. If I had it to do over again, I would have begged the bride to pick another cruise line, as I have traveled with 3 or 4 people in one room on NCL, Princess and RC without EVER being expected to sleep on the floor. While "fun" was had- it was a great disappointment to spend so much money and be treated like literal dirt on a shoe. Read Less

I have sailed on 23 Cruises(22 on Carnival and 1 on NCL). I have mostly sailed on 4,6, and 7 day cruises, and on three 3 day cruises. I live 30 minutes away from the Port of Miami. This was Labor Day Weekend. The ship was full of drunks. The passengers were so rude to the crew members conducting the safety drill. They continued screaming, talking loudly, and playing on their cell phones. A lot of these drunks would argue with the bar staff because they were upset that they had a 15 limit drink. I had never seen such a crowd on a cruise. The food , entertainment, and service were excellent. All of the crew members went above and beyond for all passengers. I sailed on the Breeze last month, and on the Victory in July so I found this ship so old and small. This cruise was a lot more expensive than my 4 day cruise on the Victory in July. It was very over priced for such a small ship. I had a great time with all of the amazing entertainment, but I will not sail on a 3 day cruise again. Read Less

The customer service was terrible. I had to re-direct several staff members on their rudeness and lack of customer services. Also my room was nasty. Upon my arrival i called guest services because there was hair all over my sheets and in my shower. If my room was cleaned before my arrival there's no explanation for the hair in my shower or bed. Ewww, I got to the point where i would mark my sheets just to make sure they were being changed. Lastly, the ship was having maintenance done my entire trip. Which mean there was no such thing as good sleep on my vacation. I complained to guest service my first day and they just brushed it off. I let it go due to my daughter wanting to explore the ship. On the third night i couldn't take it no more, so i called guess services again. They did offer to change my room later that night however that was pointless because i had less than 12 hours left. The only department with great customer service was the spa. everyone there was very helpful and nice. Read Less

My first cruise. Husband and I wanted a quiet weekend away that was budget-friendly and many friends had suggested cruising; we chose Carnival because it was the cheapest of the lines leaving the weekend we needed to fill. A person who gets car sick, I was terrified of being sea sick, so chose the shortest cruise I could find for my first try. I wore the wrist bands and took a Dramamine each night, and was truly fine, despite the storm. I found this ship to be less than advertised with one tiny pool, two overcrowded hot tubs in the Serenity adults-only area, and roving bands of rowdy drunks. We were glad to have a balcony where we frequently holed up, enjoying the quiet and the view. Our room was comfortable, small, but plenty of room for our meager things and frequently tidied. Service was amazing, down to the last person. Everyone was attentive, knew your name, and engaged you to have your best time. Embarkation was easy and we chose to board around 11am and enjoy a few drinks before the set sail party, which was lively and a good time. Debarkation was equally easy. There were people queued up like cattle, but I imagine it's the same on every ship. We travel with only our carry bags. Locals, we can't review the hotels. And as a pair of adults, we know nothing of the children's clubs other than we rarely saw children, which was fine. Drinks were perfect every time. Specialty coffee was delicious. Food was not great. We enjoyed our first meal in the dining room, but not the next two, and found that the buffet was often closed, out of items, or certain sections were closed nearly every time we checked it out. It was very difficult to eat healthy on board as the salad bar that was full on embarkation day was never there any other time we looked. Entertainment on board was mixed - we enjoyed the piano bar and the shows that we took in, but the magician Leo was a skilled showman, if not a very dexterous magician. For a ship in partnership with Hasbro, their game selection in the library was dismal. We found the ship to be clean, well maintained, and well staffed. There were plenty of out of the way places to sit and read, but none of them were outdoors as those area were swarming with drunks. The bar/wait staff should cut people off, or ask them to quiet down, but that never seemed to happen. There was a hurricane happening, and Carnival waited until 8am on the day of sailing to notify anyone of changes, which was that we would be spending the 2nd day at sea instead of the 3rd, which then changed to keeping the same schedule, but spending only half a day in port. We rearranged our plans, not having booked an excursion, knowing the storm may cancel it anyhow, and just walked to the beach, which was lovely. The area when you leave the ship is full of people shouting at you like carnival barkers - selling bottled water, snacks, hair braiding, scooters, tours - very pushy and uncomfortable. When we got back to the ship, the itinerary changed again and we'd be keeping the original plan and staying overnight. This would have changed our day in Nassau as we'd have rested the day on the ship and gone to Atlantis in the evening, but by then I'd sprained my ankle and was in for the rest of the day - which is no reflection of the ship, of course. When I plan a vacation I invest a lot of time and effort.. I look at reviews I research prices. This time was not different.. I knew this was an older ship, I knew we would overnight in Nassau. I have booked cruises on other carriers on ships just as old or older. The safety procedures.. which I have done on the 5 other cruises I have been on was weird.. we were taken to the night club (our muster station) and the British crew member refused to talk until it was complete silence.. if someone shifted in their seat or coughed or a baby whimpered she stopped and started all over again. She continually threatened us that she had no problem doing it all over again to punish us for not paying attention!! REALLY?? was she kidding? then when they finally deemed us quiet enough they showed us the procedures with the life vests... since there is no video screen and she was the only one with the mike... if you were in the back of the room you couldn't hear or see anything. so really shutting us up and threatening to re do it was completely futile since half the people couldn't see the exercise! This ship was disappointing to say the least. The food was awful. The choices in the dining room were poor. One option for vegans.. Indian Rice and Lentils.. Seriously??? thats all you can come up with ? For the vegetarians.. there is fish.. fish that was stinky and overcooked. The cutlery was tarnished (blackened) the glasses had lipstick stains, the servers barely able to communicate in English. It was a challenge to have dinner. By the 3rd night I was exhausted just trying to explain what I wanted!!! HELLO ROSETTA STONE!!! If I can post a picture of the pool on the 3 days we were on this ship I am certain that every safety law was broken repeatedly. wall to wall people , people jumping in over people.. it was just plain hazardous! The entertainment on the cruise .. below grade! why am I watching 3 days of shows displaying 60's music? With singers who can barely carry a tune? American Idol would not have taken them. A comedy show that we had to wait til after 11 to watch.. when after all day in the sun who can keep their eyes open. Lets not even discuss the unavailable Cruise Director. Apart from hearing him talk to us every morning about stupidities.. we never saw him! there was one activity by the pool (hairy chest comp) that he wasn't there for. Then an announcement encouraging us to make a donation to St. Jude (we did.. a very worthy cause). He spoke for 8 minutes on the importance of this charity.. how close it was to his heart. how important it was to him and to others and he wasn't even there to take the donations or to participate in the giveaway of the charity!!! what the hell??? Why talk and talk about how important it is to you and how dear it is to your heart and you aren't even there??? wow! Needless to say we were very disappointed.. for the amount we paid for this 3 day cruise , We would have been better off spending it at a 5 star hotel in Miami. I will think twice before booking with Carnival again. Read Less

I am a paramedic by trade and I sat poolside watching all the potential lawsuits from unattended kids in the pool area. I filled out the survey on Carnivals site, urging them to stop concentrating on pushing poolside alcohol and hire 2 lifeguards to monitor the nonsense. Kids jumping on each other and adults, throwing plastic cups in the pool, running, slipping and falling. It was ridiculous. The entertainment was great, especially the comedy shows. The dining was good; a little slow from what I remembered. The poor ship is showing age but indoors you would never know it. Read Less

I will say right up front that we are Carnival people through and through. We have tried all the other major lines and, for our money, Carnival is the only way to go. We work hard for our money, and we believe in getting the best value we can out of our vacation dollar. That value is Carnival. We live less than two hours from the port, so we drove straight there, parked at a remote lot, took a shuttle to the port and embarked. We got the "Faster To The Fun" promo, which we highly recommend...it includes priority embark and disembark for everybody in your party for one low fare, and it's well worth it for us. The ship is the second oldest and smallest in the fleet, but it's as pretty a ship as I've ever been on. it's very clean and well-maintained and just shines!! The decor is great, very metropolis, art-deco 20's chic, Poirot, Miss Fisher kind of cool. There's even an old Rolls Royce outside the casino. There is only one pool and it got a little crowded on sea day, but I've been on mega-ships that had crowded pools on sea day so that's to be expected. The service at the pool was exceptional, and they never missed us, so we were good. The Cruise Director, Adam, was a little harried, but he's a Man U fan so I guess I'll let it slide. We never did see him out and about on the ship, which is unusual for a Carnival CD. The Entertainment was above average for a cruise ship. They really got it right on this ship. The two revues they put on, "Motor City" and "The Brits" were both OUTSTANDING and the comedians Macio and Tom were both funny as heck. The Serenity area is nicely secluded and a welcome area away from the noise of the kiddos. Our steward, Nicholas, was friendly and professional and kept on top of everything. our cabin was always exactly how we wanted it. We got off briefly in Nassau, but we have been there numerous times and there was nothing that really interested us, so we got bac on the ship. We like ships. THE FOOD: This is a big grumbling point among people who argue that this line is better than that line and this cruise sucked and my cruise was ruined blah blah blah. Listen to the voice of experience. I am a chef. I have trained since 1975. I am certified by EVERY top culinary school. This is what I've found: THERE IS NO "CHEF QUALITY" FOOD AT SEA... Stop looking for it. Even what you get in the "specialty restaurants" doesn't compare to what my students should be able to prepare. There is a lot of good food on a lot of ships, and yes, there is a lot of bad. Remember, they are preparing thousands of meals a day under damn near impossible conditions(I've been in ship kitchens), and are doing semi-miraculous jobs getting edible food out to you. just enjoy what you're getting. We did not eat in the dining room, but the food at the buffet ranged from excellent(on Caribbean and Mexican day) to pretty good(on American and Italian day). The Pizza Pirate was a huge disappointment. We normally love the pizza, but on this ship, it is undercooked and doughy...yuck!!! The Deli was also another big disappointment...usually a bright spot on other Carnival ships, these sandwiches were just gummy messes. Getting off was no hassle. "Faster To The Fun" also gets you off the ship first. One of our favorite cruises so far. We have already booked our next three cruises on the Ecstasy. Same cabin. Read Less

It seemed like every time me and my husband made plans to go on a cruise the movie Titanic would come on then I would change my mind about going lol. But this time I decided to conquer my fear and go. Boy am I glad I did. I had one of the best times of my life on this cruise. We had a great time from start to finish!!! We booked a suite. The room was nice and clean.. I really enjoyed siting on the balcony with my hubby!! The comedy club on the cruise ship was great!! That comedian Percy Crews 2 was so hilarious!!!! Me and my hubby went dancing at Stripes club on the ship, which we enjoyed.. The casino wasn't like Hard Rock Casino, but it gave us something to do on the ship.. Karaoke night was fun.. The Motown Show was great!! I really enjoyed watching the crew on the ship doing the electric slide while other passengers joined in!! Also there was a band performing by the casino every night that sounded amazing!!! The food was pretty decent. I will say I preferred the buffet food over the food in the restaurant.. I enjoyed every drink I ordered from the bar lol!! Those Bahama Mamas and Miami Vice drinks were soooo freaking good!!! The only complaint I really have, is that the water in our bathroom shower was not HOT enough for me. My husband said the water temperature was fine for him, but me I like my water really really hot.. I just booked another cruise today. We are taking our kids on a Carnival cruise February 2016. Then we also booked another Carnival Cruise sailing March 2017 on their new ship Vista!! I can't wait!! Read Less

This was my 19th cruise with Carnival. I just recently moved to Ft. Myers (about 2 hours from Miami) but decided to start vacation a day early. I drove into Miami the night before and stayed at the Marriott Biscayne Bay. VERY nice hotel, and had a room with a port view, made me even more excited to see the Ecstasy in the AM. Although the Ecstasy is an older and smaller ship, She is very well maintained. There were plenty of activities throughout the day. The cruise director Craig was outstanding! Service of course was the best. The people next door to me were smoking on their balcony, Carnival QUICKLY put a stop to that and made sure I wasn't inconvenienced with the smell of their smoke. The staff was always happy and acknowledged you by name and were very pleasant. I had a balcony cabin (U202). very spacious and the balcony was larger than I expected which was a real treat. I loved ordering room service and eating out in private. At dinner I sat with 5 other couples (I was the only solo cruiser at the table) but we all quickly became great friends and hung out on deck and in half moon cay together. Dinners were a blast with the singing and dancing. Food was FANTASTIC and always hot. The buffet was really good too! everything was fresh The entertainment was great. the playlist production shows were amazing. I really enjoyed them. My favorite was a musician named Brett Dame. He was great to watch and listen to before and after dinner. Disembarking was a breeze. They started disembarking about 830am. I was in Zone 1. I waited around for a bit, then headed down about 9am. When one of the officers saw me with a platinum card, he moved me right up to the front of the line. I wasn't expecting that, nor was I in a real hurry, but it was nice. All in all, this was a GREAT 4 day get away. Loved the Ecstasy and want to sail her again. The price was great and everything was perfect! Read Less

This was our 5th Carnival Cruise in one year (our first ever cruise was in March 2014 on the Sunshine). We treated our adult children to this Memorial Day cruise. Our daughter had been on her first cruise in March 2015 (Carnival Sensation). She was so excited to cruise again! Our rooms were ready (Fast to Fun), very clean and what we expected in size. Bags delivered early. Early dinner seating. Prompt, pleasant service. Food, although tasty, was delivered at tepid temperature. Our table mates were first time cruisers and left immediately after dinner. I told them about the after dinner entertainment and on the second night (elegant night), we all sat and waited patiently, NO ENTERTAINMENT :-(. We all showed up for a bean bag toss tournament on day 2, all of us, except the Carnival activities staff. No announcement that it was cancelled. I was extremely disappointed in the Cruise Director. He was not as visible as the directors on our other Carnival cruises. The comedy club manager should find another career field. NOT FUNNY! We will cruise Carnival again just not the Ecstasy.
