We wanted a short, inexpensive cruise and that is what we got. MSC does not compare well with the better cruise lines like Celebrity, Princess, Holland America, and Royal Caribbean. The best comparison is Carnival, but with a high-end clientele. I am not a foodie but the food was bad. Activities are the typical cruise activities. MSC customer service is fine so long as you don't have any problems. ...
Now that we are both retired, my wife and I have resumed cruising and as part of that we decided to try a few more of the main-stream lines we had not sailed before. We prefer small to medium size ships (about 100,000 GT or less with under 2,000 passengers) and have no interest in megaships. Summit was right on the upper limit of our preferred ship size and passenger capacity.
We found a nice ...
We were invited to join our cousins on this cruise. Before the cruise they told us that the ship was nice, the overnight stay on the island reserve was great, and the dinner food was poor. They were 100 percent spot on. We picked the cruise after Thanksgiving and the cruise was only a little more than 50 percent full.
First for the good.
The ship was attractive and in good shape. There ...
We chose this ship for 2 reasons. One was because it was our first Celebrity cruise and two, we wanted to visit Key West.
I kept hearing great things about Celebrity, so I figured to give it a try. We’ve been on many different lines, so we had a lot to compare certain things to.
The not so good…
First thing to say is the ship is old and is in need of some attention in many places. Rust is ...
The Sky is an old ship. We knew this but NCL claimed their upgrade in 2022 was great. Not.
Pros: Crew, all great, esp. 'Yogi' the butler and 'Huberth', concierge. Layout of the cabin (not the location, aft penthouse suite- above the show theater. Production shows were spectacular, all of them. Cagney's steakhouse was superb.
Cons: Just feels old, wall paper in spots peeling through out ...
We dropped a motherload on this trip. And still had upcharges for activities. Short excursions were way too short, rushed, and didn’t allow any time to spend at any shops. Tortola was a wasted stop. Arrived early in the morning before anything was open, our 4-hr excursion involved over 2 hours of transports by ferry and open air vehicles and very rough roads with no public restrooms except a dirty ...
MSC needs consultants – hire them and follow the advice!
Just off a B2B on Seascape both Eastern and Western Caribbean. Joined by son and family the second week.
Lovely ship although like the other MSC vessels has very dark panels and floors and rather gloomy interior halls. Decorating is good, other colors of grey, silver, chrome all make it clean and modern looking. The layout is ...
We chose this cruise because our family was cruising together and we looked for ships that offered experiences for three generations of people between the ages of 8 and 63.
Yacht Club - The level of service in the Yacht Club is good. Embarking and disembarking was a breeze. The butler was helpful and available. The headwaiter and sommelier were attentive. The quality and selection of the ...
We wanted to cruise all the way through the canal. We had an in-depth excursion(7 hours) learning about the history and going through the locks on a ferry. A few days before we arrived at the canal we were told that we would not have that excursion day because we could not dump our waste at the port. We had to go 14 hours out to sea and it would take that time off our itinerary. I am amazed that ...
This was our 35th cruise on RCL, starting in 2002 on Explorere of the Seas. We sailed on Oasis of the Seas on its' preinaugural cruise in December 2009 and many times since. After trying for many years we finally got our family to join us. It was the first cruise for the grandchildren and only the second RCL cruise for their parents and our sons mother-in-law. We really wanted to get everyone ...
