Hi folks, we just got back from a short cruise onboard the NCL Sky. I have to say that I was over all impressed with the conditions to the ship. The Casino had new slots and they came out to win on the last night. So here are a few things that I will point out. 1. Ship, the ship looked really good after the refit We had good weather and we made all the stops. Being a casino guest really is a nice experience with NO waiting to get on the ship. The ship looks years newer the NCL Sky is again a treat to go cruising on. 2. Cabin, the cabin was really nice with all the new schemes and colors. They replaced all the doors out to the balconies and took out those nasty blue waffle matts with new flooring. Nice job NCL! 3. Dining, We had dinner at Cagney's and the food was excellent. The food in the buffet was average but hey, it was a 3 day cruise. The food in the main restaurant what good over all but my favorites was breakfast. 4. Entertainment and Activities, well we are talking about the NCL Sky here. The best party boat at the Port Of Miami!!! Pools side is great and the party never stops. The other passengers where having a huge good time and of course the "Free Drink Package" pays for it self over and over. For me I enjoyed the nights at the Karaoke in the big lounge up forward from 9:00 to 11:00pm. My over all activities was in the Sky Casino and the grand new machines paid out for me on Sunday night. 5. Service, we have cruised on NCL 12 times and the service is always EXCELLENT. From the moment we got to the Terminal to the last minuet stepping off the ship it was again excellent. My hat off to the Crew of the NCL Sky. 6. Port and Shore excursions, Key West was really nice but my all time favorite was Private Island, loved the water and the drinks. There were 8 of us in our party some had cruise before and some for the first time. They are all booking again for March 15 2020 sailing on the newest NCL ship, NCL Encore. Read Less

After our destination was changed from Cuba, NCL decided to change the itinerary to a full Bahamian cruise. Although we hoped that NCL would have been more communicative during the change, we decided to make the most of it and attend anyway. I have cruised with multiple lines. The Sky was small but clean and it was nice. We witnessed staff turning over rooms on several occasions and to do so, they thoroughly vacuumed in between sofa cushions! Cabins were a bit small, but the stewards were very attentive. We only had one outlet. The bathroom only had a special outlet for shavers, so it was difficult to use multiple items requiring electricity. Ex: it took 40 minutes to obtain an iron and to use it, you had to unplug anything requiring a charge and then hurry to use it because housekeeping wanted it back. The cruise was all-inclusive and the food was good. The drinks differed by bartender and ship location, so we had to remember our favorite bartenders. It seems that the drinks may have been stronger if we were not on a cruise thatbcame with alcohol included. We purchased the upgraded premium package and it seems that was a bit of a waste on this cruise. Again, the food was good; not spectacular. I wish that the dining menus varied a bit more each day. The specialty restaurants were always crowded and we went to Cagney’s one night. Each time we sat down, whether in general or specialty dining, we always had quite a wait. Excursions were amazing! We went on excursions each day and I’m so happy that we rented a large private cabana on Great Stirrup. The day at Atlantis with the dolphin encounter and the following day’s luxury day sail were definite stand outs; they were amazing. But for the horrible experience on the last day, we would have likely sailed again for the value. Generally speaking, the entertainment was just okay, but our cruise was ruined by the comedy show on the last night. After 10 minutes of listening to him incessantly use the N-word, make jokes about rape, misogynist statements and generally racist and sexist “comedy”, many of us decided that our senses were so wholly offended that we just couldn’t take anymore. Many of us left and remarked that we were absolutely shocked that NCL felt that this brand of hatred was acceptable; far less funny. He should have been vetted and NCL managamenent shoukdnhace made it clear what was and was not acceptable. If this represents the views of NCL, they can keep the 50% discount; I can say without a doubt that we will not be back. Read Less

I've been on over 12 cruises and this is the worst one ever. The ship is small and crowded. 40 percent of the staff are rude as hell. and not helpful at all. Treat you like they're the ones on vacation and you're getting on their nerves just to answer a question. ESPECIALLY customer service! Drinks were flowing and pretty good. However they don't tell you that after you purchase the drink package to include tax you still have to pay an extra tax per drink while you're still in Florida waters...what a scam! The food was decent, especially the burger and taco stand. Don't even think about eating at the buffet unless you want to spend an hour in line. Ridiculous! Our dining room waiter, Darryl was excellent and very accommodating... 5 stars for him! Food was decent, cant really complain about that. The Music was good. But not enough shows onboard. Only had 1 game show and Bingo. I'll never take carnival again! Read Less

This was my second time cruising with Carnival. The Carnival Victory definitely needs some upgrades. The staff was just Ok, they seemed to be very annoyed by many of the Guest!. I did meet one Staff member in the sit down dining area a woman from Ukraine who was very pleasant. As I was dining she walked up to me and asked how everything was and asked if I needed anything ( I thought that was very nice she was the only Crew Member to greet me literally). The food was cool the great thing about it was if you did not like an entre' you could order another. There were plenty of children and Teens on the boat who were very loud and obnoxious. The Pool was a traffic jam daily, Jacuzzi also. I brought a day Pass at the RIU resort in the Bahamas for my excursion. It was wonderful ( all inclusive) with a banging Jerk Chicken Hut next to the pool.. Thank me later). it was 20.00 cheaper than online to just show up and pay for it. My taxi ride was 4.00 each way!. I thought is was horrible Carnival shut the pool down at 5 pm on Sunday ( the cruise was not over). They were very slow to put more cups out by the ice and drink machine. That was completely lazy and disrespectful to the guest. They acted as if the Guest was getting on their nerves. If you want to Smell Weed be around wild children cutting in front of you on all parts of the boat, this is definitely the boat for you. I had a room with a Balcony so that's where I received all of my Peace. I definitely will find a more upscale cruise line for my taste!! Read Less

My husband and I are frequent cruisers but have been loyal to Royal Caribbean, and occasionally Carnival for convenience. This was our first NCL cruise, and we chose it because we wanted to visit Key West on a short weekend cruise. The schedule and value were perfect, and a low priced direct flight out of Charleston, SC was the icing on the cake! (We live 2 hours from Charleston). Having never experienced the open bar concept, we weren't expecting much as far as service or food (to compensate for the free alcohol), and also expected a ship full of belligerent drunk people. Boy, were we wrong! The ship was beautiful (although a little confusing at first), the crew was SUPER friendly, the food and drinks were amazing, and other cruisers were a blast! We didn't experience any extremely drunk people, surprisingly enough, and the ambiance of the ship was laid-back and just fun. Our oceanview room was perfectly comfortable from the cool AC to the bed and pillows. We are extremely satisfied and pleasantly surprised, and look forward to more cruises on NCL, particularly the Sky. Read Less

We chose this cruise for a quick weekend getaway without taking much time off work. We chose the Navigator because we sailed on Mariner after the refurbishment about 6 months ago and loved the Mariner renovation. Embarkation- Incredible. From the Uber to onboard in less than 10 minutes. Terminal A is fantastic. Cabin- cabins were beautifully upgraded with new carpet and upholstery (dark blue and gray color scheme). No complaints here. All cabins were available at 1PM. Ship overall- -The good: They did a great job modernizing this older ship. It truly has a similar feel, color scheme, venues, etc. to the brand new Royal ships. The solarium and main pool are beautiful. -The bad: They WAY overdid it with the "upgrades". The outer decks are now cluttered with cabanas and massive hot tubs filled with screaming kids and drunks, so there are few chairs available in the sun. It is pretty from a brochure standpoint, but totally impractical and chaotic in real life. They removed the once beautiful fitness area at the front of the ship (along with the FREE locker room, steam and sauna areas) and moved the gym to a small, terrible location at the back of the ship. The ceilings are too low, so the treadmills do not incline, there are limited free weights, limited space, etc. They relocated it to add a whole deck of new cabins to deck 11. With the addition of hundreds of new staterooms, the elevators are always packed. Crowds and waits everywhere. This was never an issue on this ship before the added staterooms and removal of public areas. Food- I attributed this to it being a wekeend cruise, but the food was terrible aside from El Loco Fresh and specialty restaurants. Buffet options for lunch and dinner were along the lines of hamburgers, hotdogs, frozen quality pizza, rice, pasta and marinara, breads, and jello-type deserts. That is completely unacceptable for a $500 per night cruise in my opinion. Ports- CocoCay was beautiful. We had visited in December before the opening of "Perfect Day" and did not spend much time on the island because it was "blah", but they have really transformed this little island into paradise. We spent all day here. The dining options were better than on the ship, the pools and beach were wonderful, and the views were fantastic. We were very lucky with beautiful weather on this sailing. We had a great weekend, but would we chose Navigator of the Seas again? No, we would not, for the following reasons: 1) Sometimes less is more. Mariner of the Seas (sistership sailing out of Pt. Canaveral) had a slightly less extensive refurbishment that added most of the same amenities, but with less added cabins, it left the beautiful pool deck alone, and left the beautiful gym area intact. If you are a avid gym-goer or physically active, choose Mariner or Independence of the Seas for your short cruise needs. 2) There will be music or action/kids movies loudly blaring on the pool deck movie screen at all times... to the point that you will be able to hear it even in the "quiet" solarium. I assume this is Royal Caribbean's attempt to get the party going, but it kills the mood, not enhances it. 3) The free food venues were appalling. We have sailed with Royal Caribbean on approximately 25 sailings over the past 20 years, and the food was shocking on this sailing. Take advantage of El Loco Fresh and venues on CocoCay for more appealing complimentary food options. Read Less

We cruised, not impressed. 17 family members total. Two parents, four (42-36yr old siblings), eleven (1-17r) of those offspring. I’m not and will never be impressed with the noise levels at night in the rooms. Disco night was the first night and we could clearly hear all words to the music played, it played well past 11:30 pm. We asked to please lower the volume multiple times, with no success. At the pools we could not all swim together. That was big time dissipointing. We wanted to take pictures of the whole family after early dinner was told our family was too large. On day three it was super hot and the only place my daughter could cool off was under the pool shower. The only for her to play was under with water was “closed due to maintenance”. I would not suggest this ship to any family or large group that like to sleep at night or swim together. I would like to give the best postive of the the experience and that was the early dinner. It was best part of the whole thing, although the family had to sit at seperate tables. The food was great and waiters entertained the our younger guest with magic tricks. Read Less

So we definitely did not choose a cruise to the Bahamas but our Cuba cruise was canceled 14 days out. The two other couples we had planned to go with canceled but it just didn’t leave my wife and I enough time to change all of our plans. First time to Miami and it’s a beautiful city by the beach and downtown. We arrived a day early and really enjoyed our time there. The local people operate on a totally different wave length and it doesn’t really feel like you’re in the States. The locals also tend to be very off putting and generally unfriendly but they had little do with the Miami that I experienced while I was there so it was not much of an impact. The terminal at Miami ran very smooth and it was the fastest I have ever gotten onto a ship. The terminal staff definitely weren’t as excited about my vacation as I was but they did a great job getting us through the line. Once on the Norwegian Sky we where met with little to no fan fare to the point it seemed like the ship felt quite and docile. The Sky is only a few months out from its refurbishment and the common areas look good. The design of the ship is old and has a choppy flow but the updates help and very little floral patterns are left. I think it has plenty of bars but the main dance club is also one of the main passage ways to get across the ship so it’s kind of an awkward place to hangout at in the evenings. Aside from the lone comedian who was great the rest of the entertainment staff was horrible. I really can’t believe these guys get paid for what they did. We walked into the bliss lounge on our way across the ship and heard someone trying to sing what we thought was karaoke. Nope. That was one of the paid entertainers and it was absolutely heinous. The group that performed the nightly shows in the main theater were so mediocre it was uncomfortable. The choreography looked like it was a parity and the ones that sang were so far off pitch it was like they were singing different songs. The crew overall did a great job and I never had to wait very long for anything or felt like I was being ignored. They didn’t have much enthusiasm and no one wowed me or even attempted to go above and beyond. The food was by far the poorest quality I have ever had on a cruise including the specialty dinning. We went to La Bistro and it wasn’t any better than an average chain restaurant in the US. The main buffet served the same thing everyday for breakfast and lunch. Because of forces outside of anyone’s control we had to go to three stops in the Bahamas in lieu of Cuba. Surprisingly NCL’s private island Great Stirup Cay was the best stop. It’s just an extension of the cruise ship so food and beverage are provided on the island. It’s a little hot without a breeze but the beaches and water are beautiful. The two other stops, Freeport and Nassau, are just not worth it. Freeport is a major shipping hub and has little to offer tourist other than beaches cover with drift wood. In Nassau, outside of the tourist enclave of the Atlantis Resort and the million dollar homes of the west side of the island they're just a couple of burning tires away from looking like Mogadishu during the Somali Civil War. Nassau has lots of stuff to do, none of it worth the time or money. Getting off the ship was somehow easier then getting on. From the time we stepped into the terminal I don’t think it was 90 seconds until we where outside getting onto the bus transfer to the airport. No customs, no security, I don’t think a single employee acknowledged us until we got outside to the bus driver - he was cool. So to summarize I would highly dissuade someone from taking a cruise to the Bahamas on the Norwegian Sky. The ship is sub par compared to comparable ships even on Carnival and the Bahamas are forgettable at best. Without the calamity with Cuba I would’ve never chosen a cruise to the Bahamas. Read Less

My best friend from college turned 50 this year, so when she told me that her and three of her high school girlfriends were going on a cruise, I tagged along (even though I am past that 50 now!). Spouses were included as well, and one college grad son, so the men had someone to talk to! So here are the highlights of our time on the Navigator of the Seas! *Perfect Day on Coco Cay--my DH and I live on an island, so hanging at a beach is not what we do on vacation. We did enjoy the Up Up and Away Balloon ride. The balloon is tethered and goes up a couple hundred feet. Gave us a great view of the island, the neighboring islands and what was available on Coco Cay. I noticed a floating bar, so that is where I ended up! People did appear to be enjoying themselves, but we went early and were back on the ship early so.... *I could ride the water slides!!! I enjoyed the Blaster--that is the one with the 2 person inflatable. It was fun and I rode that a few times. It was still a great time to be on the ship, as majority of folks were at Coco Cay. When you are on the ship during a busy day, like the day at sea, I recommend you head up to the Navigator Dunes/ Putt Putt course. Around there, they have these amazing clam shell beds--we snagged one and watched the sea past us. There was even an attentive server to bring us a drink from the bar (Lime and Coconut) downstairs. I noticed a few of those clam shells were open, suspect people do not know about them. *We did the My Time Dining with our party of 10. Our first night was a late seating, but we were able to arrange for earlier seatings on the other nights. Our first 2 nights were at the same table with Josef. I always enjoy a waiter who will tell you his recommendations. It just feels like a personal touch. Our last night, DH and I splurged on the Chef's Table. This is our second time doing this on a Royal Caribbean ship and yes, it is the same menu. But the Chefs are different and they do put their own touch on the food. This meal was the best meal we had on board the ship! My only complaint---we had scheduled it for our 2nd night on the ship, but they moved it to the last night. It was a small group of us, 6 in total. We all enjoyed it! *The iSkate--Reach for the Stars show was amazing! The ice skaters are like Olympic quality! It opens with a drone show that was amazing---how do they prevent them from running into each other! We saw the show that first evening on board, and there was a good crowd but not packed. They offered it again the last day, and that one was packed! The other show that we really enjoyed was a regular entertainer in the Schooner Bar, David Curtis Mutter. He performs improv musical comedy and he was hilarious! I have never laughed so hard! Another treat was the Travelling Pianist! He parked his piano in one of the glass elevators and would play a tune --much better than Muzak! I enjoyed his music so much, when I found him (twice!) I simply rode in the elevator, not going anywhere in particular!! *We booked an interior cabin and it suited our needs just fine. I did receive the Royal Up email, and that is when I noticed that our cabin had a virtual balcony! So we kept the interior and were entertained with our "balcony". It was cool and really nice during the day. It is live action, I watched folks on jet skis going around the front of the ship! Cannot see much at night, but pull the curtains over it and you can continue to enjoy your dark cabin!! Not quite the highlight, but you got to do it on a cruise ship: Embarkation--kind of confusing, not set up as I remember (and I went on 3 cruises last year!). There were several different entry areas, but the person checking the set sail pass had to look at your passport and take a picture of you. It appeared to take more time than the usual way. In hindsight, this might have been when they also set up the facial recognition for passports. This was noted on disembarkation and did speed up that process. For those that travel with paper birth certificate, the line after the cruise was the longest that I have seen, and only like 2-4 custom agents. Those folks were not getting out anytime soon! All in all, it was an enjoyable cruise. It was great to see my college friend and catch up. Enjoyed all the moments that put a smile on our face, as this is why we cruise!! Read Less

This trip was intended to be a short girls weekend, free of kids and husbands. We drove from Tampa to Miami and choose to use Premier Parking. We arrived at the port around 1230pm and we through security and aboard within 15 minutes! We headed up to grab some lunch and I have to say that garden café is much smaller than I am accustom to on the bigger ships. The choices are minimal. Pool deck is nice. Especially loved Champs bar and the table seating for smokers. We ate in the Palace and had the BEST SERVICE. But. that's why we love NCL, service is always amazing. Food... ugh.. that could improve for sure. The menu in main dining rooms were also limited, and served the same items for three days. Warning - the steak comes covered in gravy! Steak should never be destroyed like that... steer clear. Cabin was clean. Shower is tiny! I am not a large woman, but I had the hardest time shaving my legs! Entertainment was just sad. Comedian was horrible. I am not a fan of cover bands or singers. Shops were pretty sad too. Key West - we got off to find Blue McCaw - bloody mary bar, and got back on board. I live in Fl, so Key West isn't a place I need to be. Great Stirrup Cay- Nice beach day. Great service, plenty of chairs. Overpriced market! Beware, they charge you based on how they feel at that moment. Overall a great weekend with my bestie. It wouldn't say this was the BEST cruise, but I had a nice relaxing time. Read Less

The ship was very pretty, had most of what we like in elegant decor to delight our senses and keep us dazzled. The food, too, was very good, possibly the best we have experienced in a wealth of cruises we have taken with a variety of cruise lines. We had an inside cabin off the Royal Promenade, which meant we had a window that looked down at the shoppers. The room, itself, was very nice, with a window seat as well as a little couch, besides the desk chair. It was roomy, with enough nooks for storage for our short 4-day cruise, that I would consider to book such a cabin again. However, the bed was hard - I mean board hard! Our quality of sleep was not good for the 4 nights. We tossed and turned most of the night, only to fall asleep and wake much later in the morning because we had no sense of day or night because of being in an inside. This sleep pattern disrupted our usual cruising routine. Anxious to start using the Workout room, we went straight there the first morning. The weight-powered machines were adequate, but when we attempted to use the bikes, treadmill, etc. they all were password accessible. The place hummed with activity, and I saw no staff member there that would assist us in how to activate any of these equipment. So... we left, and never returned to the workout room for the duration of the cruise. We dined twice in the dining room with our open dining option, and the service was good both times. We actually made a reservation for those dining nights when we first boarded the ship. I asked the staff taking our reservation which night was formal nigh, and he informed me that they do not do formal nights anymore. Having packed my husband’s suit, I was disappointed this wasn’t made clear on their webpage. We cruised with my daughter and her family, and I hoped to get a nice picture of us all decked out in our best attire. Originally the formal night is the second night of shorter cruises, but we chose a different night to go to the dining room, to better fit with our daytime plans. But what I wasn’t told is that RCI or maybe just this ship does a Dress Up anyway you Like evening which is the same as formal night, and all the photographers were on hand... and we missed it as we sat upstairs in the Windjammer enjoying the casualness of the night, unknowing... The focus on hand-washing as people entered the Windjammer was humorous, with staffers playing guitars, singing and prancing around “washy-wash your hands, scrubby, scrub your hands” to popular tunes, and with the exception of one very tuneful fellow, sung painfully off key. The service there was good to excellent, but I found the tables so close together, and the chairs difficult to move on the carpet, that it was a struggle to get up and return to your table, weaving through tables and chairs heavy with other diners. No more pretty glassware is given in the specialty drink. I was told that stopped, even though their website still shows pictures of those lovely glasses. Huge disappointment, hoping to add to my collection. But about the drinks, it costs around $15 per glass. Plan to drop $30+ for two drinks... making those high priced “drink plans” a better choice for some. Bingo was rather a disappointment, too. Less games, higher prices. No fun Bingo Lingo. Rush, rush, rush. And the same for all the Trivia gatherings we experienced. Boring. Regarding the dance and singing talent of the theatre shows, It was an experience we could have better spent watching TV in our cabin room. But, ah, there were no movies to be seen on that TV without paying $12 to rent. This included movies the ship was showing poolside each day. It didn’t seem fair. So, hanging in the room was not an option on this ship. But lounging in the Solarium was a real relaxing. Bring a good book or two, and find a pool bed. Or maybe a hammock on the upper open decks. But if you grab a towel or two, be warned that if you will need to show your sea pass, and then must return them, Showing your sea pass again. Maybe bring your own beach towels might be the better choice? If you are real savvy with technology, then maneuvering the RCI Ap to find out what’s going on day-to-day, hour-to-hour will be all you need on your phone, providing it is no more than a couple years old model. Otherwise, you can still tote around the paper version, as we did. The Ap was difficult to navigate, and caused more frustration than convenience. We stopped at CocoCay, and it is huge. Daughter had booked a beach bed for her family, and when she stepped off the pier entrance, there were no signs to direct her to where they were. They went to the nearest beach, and walked the sand till they found them an hour later. Later it was discovered that there was an exclusive transport cart to take people to the private beach where rage beach beds were. It took us longer to find them, as we dragged our rented water mats along with our beach bag. We stopped to ask where the beach beds were, and staffers there were clueless till one took the measures to investigate, and put us “elderly” people on a cart transport to the exact beach. It was a nice, quiet beach, I mean very nice. The kids spent the day finding all sorts of sea creatures in the shallows and along their walk through the sandbars. But the beach was far removed from the fun children’s activities, so put on your walking shoes when visiting CocoCay. The second port stop was at Nassau. We stayed on the ship, We noticed that the pier was different. They have added more piers changing the look of the cruise port entrance. It had been a few years since we last were docked in Nassau. And lastly, our final bill. We compared the cost to what they changed our credit card, and it did not jive. I have inquired with RCI and have not received a response from them. And, no, we did not a make any additional purchases on our last day. So...? Be mindful that their bookkeeping might have some chinks in their otherwise Royal Caribbean armor. Read Less

We just wrapped up a four-night Bahamas cruise on the Navigator of the Seas. We had the Key, got to the terminal about 9:30am, checked in, did security, sat in the Key area and were literally the first to board at 10:40am. We had already dropped our luggage with the stevedores, but should have waited and dropped it at the Key area on deck 4. Information about the Key was sort of scarce. We didn’t receive our bags until about 5pm. Fortunately we had packed swimsuits and sunblock and were able to enjoy the pools and slides. About the Key: -The internet package was great. -We didn’t know until the last day that the Key acts as a “fast pass” for the water slides (grr). -The Chops lunch was excellent (filet) -We only used the priority seating for the ice show, but there was plenty of room at the other shows. -Our main dining room departure breakfast the last morning was really nice. -Info on departure procedures was a bit sketchy, so we left our baggage in the cabin during breakfast and after we grabbed our luggage and just went to the bamboo room to be escorted off (shorter line). It worked out just fine. -Our “checked luggage” was with everyone else’s, no specific “Key” Area was marked off at customs. Service was always friendly and attentive, except the bar servers were surly. At the theater one night, a server refused to provide a drink menu, and at one of the pool bars the last night, the bartender acted as though he was doing us a favor by making drinks and wouldn’t even talk to us. Hopefully these were the exception. The water slides and flow rider were fun, although the pools were really crowded on the sea day. We enjoyed the soft serve ice cream once we found it, and were so stuffed from meals we didn’t snack too often! We aren’t big drinkers, but the $12 mixed drink prices seemed high. We felt that RCI “nickels and dimes” passengers a lot. The main dining room charged an extra $8 for squeezed orange juice. That’s ridiculous. We didn’t do any formal excursions and instead explored Nassau independently and spent the Cococay day at Chill Beach (the island food was better than the Windjammer buffet, especially the brownies!) Dinner service was great in My Time Dining and with our pre-board reservations we were sat immediately. The only real complaints I have for the ship is the lack of bar service. There was only one waiter in the casino and he served only the table games. If you played slots or video poker, you must fend for yourself. There was usually only one bartender at the casino bar as well. The other thing that we found lacking was the Diamond Lounge. We missed the ambiance and the view from the Crown Lounge. Being a small lounge with no windows on Deck 5 (I think) was no where we wanted to be. However the Concierge there was wonderful. Debarkation was very fast although no one adhered to their departure time. Read Less

I chose a cruise on Norwegian Sky from Miami to Nassau, Bahamas and Great Stirrup Cay. This was my second cruise on Norwegian - being thus, I was offered priority check in, which never happened, and was supposed to receive a bottle of wine in my stateroom, which never happened. They told me once I was in my stateroom and checked in that they only offered a bottle of wine for 4 or more day cruises. And I never got an answer as to why I didn't get priority check-in even though it was offered when I booked the cruise. Why don't they share that information PRIOR to checkin when I booked my cruise? Here are my thoughts about this lackluster cruise line and this very mediocre cruise: 1. Watered-down alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Poor carbonation in all soft drinks. 2. Juice in buffet has sugar substitute in it - would have been lovely if they let consumers know somewhere on the machine. 3. Broken outlet falling out of the wall in the stateroom bathroom. 4. No soap in stateroom bathroom and watered-down shampoo and body wash in shower. 5. Noise level was appauling in staterooms. Never a moment of peace and quiet, and guests next door partying as if they were the last human beings on earth. 6. Great Stirrup Cay - Norwegian's private island - you have to bring your own towels from the ship, the island is dirty, incredibly high priced shore excursions that are not worth the money. If you lose one of your 2 towels, Norwegian bills you $25. This is an outrage. 7. Nassau, Bahamas - similarly, incredibly high priced shore excursions that are not worth it. Be careful to check your bag after purchasing anything at the Straw Market. I purchased a bracelet at one of the stalls, and the saleswoman never put it in my bag even though I paid for it. Taxi cabs will rip off any tourist - just be prepared to be financially raped in the Bahamas. 8. Good luck eating at the Great Outdoors buffet and not having your uneaten food taken off the table the moment you get up to grab a drink for your dinner. Staff in the buffet are disturbingly excited to clean off the tables the moment a guest gets up. If you think you will return to your table with your food there, dream on. It is quite amazing that the staff on the ship were not helpful or communicative about how to disembark for shore excursions or to leave the ship at the end of the cruise, yet they are curiously excited to destroy your peaceful dinner by clearing the table BEFORE YOU HAVE EVEN STARTED TO EAT YOUR DINNER. 9. Palace dining room is one of the worst places I have ever dined. Food is bland, wine is unimpressive, wait staff are not attentive - unlike those crazy staff cleaning off the tables in the buffet. 10. Art auction was a joke. They give you 3 post-it notes with your number to put on any painting you would like to bid on. All of the paintings I was interested in were not put into their auction, even though there were no more than 15 people at the auction. The auctioneer chooses which ones HE wanted to try to sell - all lackluster artists, very unimpressive. Read Less

Positives - Entering and exiting the ship was an efficient and easy process. Entertainment, Water Show, Comedians, Dancers - ALL FABULOUS ! Gorgeous impressive looking ship. Staff - some friendly, some not. Windjammer Buffet - food was good. Nice Cabin. Failures - Main dining room - Food was a C+ (fair). Steaks under-cooked,Other steaks overcooked, Food Took too too long. Please teach the chefs how to cook meat. And it was a Frustrating overly long dinner due to the poorly managed kitchen. Waiters were all apologetic. Hook Restaurant - Food took FOREVER Fish dishes were so Dry they were not edible. Timing of all the dishes was off. Operations, Procedures, and quality control all failed. Burn the Hook Restaurant down and start over from scratch. Cabin Telephones - We returned to South Florida 3 days ago and I am still on hold with the Ship's Guest Services. Take the cabin phones and throw them overboard. They are useless. You will NEVER reach anyone from any department. Room Service, Guest Services, Housekeeping - they are all on a smoke break. My (adult) daughters were in Room 10-445. Her entire area was a ghost town. No Staff Anywhere for hours. Need ICE for the room? - Good Luck. The ship is Gorgeous - But completely inefficient and understaffed. At times we were delighted. But there were times we wanted to jump into the ocean. Thank you for your time to read this. Read Less

My company purchased this cruise for the office staff (Memorial Day 3 day 4 night cruise), I had never cruised with RC only NCL. I think I got spoiled on NCL because this was a huge disappointment. I was pretty excited to cruise another Cruise Line and the largest ship sailing right now, but it was lacking. The name "Royal" should actually be called "Not Impressive Cruise Line" Embarkation was quick, getting our luggage was quick, other then that, nothing special. We had the drink package, and I'm not a drinker so figured I'd be tipsy but it seemed like all the drinks were watered down because I just never got drunk. LOL The Windjammer Buffet, I tried breakfast there and it was really disgusting, the scrambled eggs felt like it had some type of fiber in it, the texture was just off, I'm assuming it was fake eggs, eggs Benedict was warm/to cold, and just wrong, the over easy eggs were sitting on plates under a warmer light, I just couldn't get myself to eat something like over easy eggs sitting under a warmer. The sausage links crumbled if you cut them, I have no idea what they were, the bacon was rubbery and under cooked. Breakfast was a washout and I didn't eat breakfast again on the ship. We also tried dinner one day, food again was warm, not hot, and stale like it sat being warmed for way too long, so we left and went and had Pizza at Sorrentos, which was good. Wonderland, this is an experience, the food was strange, some of it was really good, while others were a little to weird to eat or the texture was just wrong lol but that's Wonderland, I suggest if you want to try something new, adventure food, try it, it's definitely memorable. Chops Grill: Very bland, I had the Filet Mignon, I ordered it medium, I got well done, it was very bland and the sauce they offered for dipping was also very bland. The extra price you pay for this, just wasn't worth it. 150 Central Park: Limited menu and this time the food was so salty, my hands and feet swelled up. I must have drank a gallon of water so I could get my rings off. The pumpkin soup was very good, the salad also very good, but the lobster was not impressive. My favorite place to eat was Sorrento's and El Loco Fresh. Entertainment was average, but with such a short cruise and it being a company trip, we didn't get to book much with 6000 people on this ship it was impossible to get reservations for a party of 28. The casino was always packed. When the ship was at Coco Cay and Nassau they closed everything down, no shopping on the ship, no bands playing on the pool deck, no activities scheduled for those who chose to stay on board, it was really boring, the first day we laid around our room after walking on the decks to see what was what, they don't have any movies playing on our TV's or anywhere on the ship. We ended up napping until the 6000 were back on the ship and then it was so busy you couldn't go to anything because of the crowds. Employees: They all seemed a bit quiet, on NCL they're friendly, joke around, the employees just seem happier. If I made friendly comments to the employees on Symphony they actually seemed shocked that I would joke or acknowledge them. Maybe it's the clientele I don't know, are people more friendly on NCL? I also noticed a lot less class on this cruise. Shore excursion, Nassau hmmm what can you say, Dirty, overpriced, aggressive sales, will not accept "no thank you" the first dozen times you say it. Our driver from Atlantis back to the ship was drinking rum with the drunk riders in the front and driving reckless back to the ship. I don't care what cruise line I am on I'm never getting off the ship in Nassau again. Cabins are much larger on Symphony then on the NCL ships I've been on, the storage better, 2 closets and a dresser, I appreciated that part of the ship. Nothing on TV but several ESPN channels, FOX, MSNBC and BBC. If you choose to watch a movie on demand be prepared to pay $12.00 Read Less

Approaching Diamond Members, so we Love Royal Caribbean. The newly renovated Navigator is well done. The Port of Miami RCCL boarding process was greatly improved as we were on the ship in less than 15 minutes. The music was great on this ship thanks to the Royal Caribbean Orchestra with the High C's Horn section, Directed by keyboardist, Hugh Little, a very gifted and talented Musician from Michigan, he made the cruise a fun experience for us. As a professional musician myself, I was so impressed by the talent these players demonstrated. We hope they stay together on the Navigator since we are going again in October. The other highlight for us was the Cruise Director, Yugo. What a fun, upbeat person. He sets the "fun" tone for the cruise and he should be commended. Make sure you go to the shows and you will enjoy his personality. The Ice Show "Reaching For The Stars" is a must see. The skaters are very talented (Olympic Quality) and the high-tech use of lighted drones during the show was very impressive. Specialty Dining has become disappointing. Chops Grill on this ship as on our previous cruise, Allure of the Seas was very disappointing. The "casual" atmosphere with the removal of the tablecloths ( replaced by Plastic Mats ?) was a turn off. When you pay for specialty dining you want it to be special, right? Well, that is our thinking. So, in the future, we will not be paying the extra fee and just stick with the MDR (Main Dining Room), which in our opinion was much nicer. Our waiter and head waiter were amazing and very friendly. We hope to see Priscilla and Rosebeth again. Excellent service! The renovated Coco Cay is very nice. No more tendering in to the island thanks to the new pier. The waterpark is a must for the kids and family. Multiple restrooms, bars and food stations is a very nice improvement. Overall, this is a very nice four day cruise on the Navigator. Going again on her this October. Read Less

Our sons and their girlfriends joined us, so 6 of us, they are all in mind 20's avg. We picked the Navigator as it was a decent 4 nter to Bahamas from Miami and we stayed a cpl xtra nights in Fort Lauderdale tacked on in the end. Quick UberXL to Miami Airport, checked in at terminal A and was slick, the new way they check you in, and from time dropping off bags till ordering 1st cocktail, no more than 20 minutes. Disembark was jut as quick, we walked off with our luggage, always do. We got them Inside cabins (1 each cpl) and upgraded to Ocean View and did the upgrade with the bid process, minimum bid. We had cabin 10390 aft location and what a sweet location, 1st time in aft for any of our cruises. Balcony was extended and a little wider, 2 lounge chairs, 2 regular chairs, and 2 little tables, with room in between. Food - service and food was very good. Includes Windjammer, MDR, Chops, Hooked, the Tacos at Pool level, food on the Promenade too. Entertainment - was average i would say, not better or worse from any other RC ships. Coco Cay - outstanding upgrade! Kids loved it we enjoyed the beach as normal, we were right of Chill beach, near washrooms, near food and drinks flowed!Beach and water were Perfect, we actually had a Perfect Day! serious! lol Kids said lines werent overly bad, but no lines later in day, hour or 2 before getting back to ship they said no lines or short lines. Nassau we went to Tiki Bikini Hut and Beach, walked the straw market there and back to Tiki, food and drinks were good. Weather and beach very good again! The new upgrades were down up nicely. kids did slides and said they were fun, new chairs around the pools and cabanas nice touch. Clean and easy to get around ship. Read Less

The islanders we visited were so outstanding, had a great time explaining them. There was always something to do on board, would recommend this sky ship to all. It was like one big parity. We did miss the island excursion to stir up cay and plan to see it on our next trip. We had champagne every night it was such a delight, it was so easy to bland the cruise and exit the boat as well. This was a mom & daughter trip . My daughter and her husband had experienced a cruise before on another cruise line . When this cruise came up my daughter suggested this 3 night Bahamas cruise for her and myself as I’ve never cruised before . Oh my it was fabulous from the first step onto the ship until disembarking, the food was amazing , drinks were plenty and flowing , all of the staff on board couldn’t have been any better to us , they all were truly amazing! Very clean , the cabin staff cleaned our room twice daily, entertainment was top notch , comedian 2 nights and a tribute show another . Had pedicures at the Spa on board they are awesome. The stop at Great Stirrip Cay is not to be missed , absolutely beautiful island, we found a quiet little niche and enjoyed the sun & sand ., while others enjoyed the adventures available on the island. Was an amazing long weekend holiday .Can’t wait to do it all again ! Read Less

My husband and I love Royal Caribbean, but we will never sail on this ship again. Despite the million plus overhaul they completed on the ship the rooms were not updated very well. The over-sized balcony stateroom (9362) smelled terrible like moth balls. The hallway near the room smelled like mold. It was very disgusting and disappointing. I was expecting a nice clean experience with the renovation, but that did not happen. Royal Caribbean needs to fix this issue asap! The specialty restaurants were great! Hooked was amazing as was Izumi! The steakhouse left much to be desired for as it did when we sailed on Allure 6 months ago. If you are used to The Capital Grille, or a Maestros level steakhouse you will not receive the same quality(read flavor/deliciousness) here. Skip the steak house and choose any of the other restaurants for sure! The cruise overall was very relaxing. In the future we will definitely choose Oasis Class or better. This boat does not compare to Allure by a long shot! Read Less

MSC- Money Sucking Cruise When my friends invited me on a 8 night 7 day cruise (this being my first time ever going,) I was highly estatic and filled with excitement at the possibilities of seeing sights and enjoying myself on a beautiful ship. First off, some background info is due. I am a military vet and I also have around ten years of experience of clientel, service, sales, and management. From our first step on the boat my party was offered dinning and drinking packages, understandable it being the first day (we all received a basic drinkers package and 3gbs of wifi with our itinerary,) but the sales NEVER STOPPED. When I say never, they were trying to sell us packages on our last day while we were eating dinner! Putting salesmanship behind me, my party was very much looking forward to night swimming and enjoying ourselves when all the kids were in bed. Negative. MSC closes their pools 6pm regardless if the sun is still up. Don't ask me why or how, but if they are lacking night time lifeguards they can sure use those salesmen offering us stupid packages! Which brings me to my next point: if you want to be served at the bar, expect those "free" 14 alcoholic drinks (which are limited basically to gin and coke, mosquitos, and long islands ONLY,) expect them to come in little fake plastic glass cups, be warm and roughly 30 minutes late. Don't like the drink? My friend MSC has your back! Go to another bar and it'll be served completely different and also in a different sized cup. First stop, the wonderful and beautiful streets of Pureto-Rico. We landed roughly around 6:30 and we were due back around 12 am...guess we are drinking again tonight fellas because everything else was closed! The majority of the food? Required reservations ahead of time (if you do find yourselves in the happy lands of heat and music, please order a Mofongo from your boy, thank me later). Our first day at sea in my opinion was a wonderful experience...thats only if you enjoy pools (that close at six mind you!) and sun. The waters were warm and I believe from the ocean since they were salty (I prefer cold water to refresh me when I swim personally,) and we found ourselves multiple times searching for a spot to sit and raise a flag for it was crowded. Beware of the main pool on deck 16! Looks like a giant pool but half of it is ankle deep? What?! When the sun became bothersome I found myself in the wonderful MSC casino..if you are a gambler like me, I hope you enjoy one blackjack table and one table of 3 card poker against dealer...besides that there are slots... enjoy! Oh and no smoking unless you enjoy facing the corner wall!!! Our other stops (St. Thomas, Bahamas, Virgin Isles,) I highly recommend you walk off port and find your own "extersion" we hired a driver for 20 dollars a person and received a 3 hour tour of one of the isles and it was wonderful. In comparison I paid 89 dollars to touch a sting Ray for five minutes then sat on the beach on one of the Bahamas islands...you do the math. Now we get to some juice, put on your reading glasses folks (if you haven't already, sorry for the long review!) because here is where it gets good in the third act. You. Will. Be. Charged. 87 dollars and 50 cents for room service. Even if you don't use them / call them / need them (like my party,) not in the paperwork you say? Say no more! Step on board and welcome to MSC! May I offer you one of our wonderful and expensive food packages while you are enjoying your dinner with your family? Please note, all of the above was told to 3 staff members and one manager who ended our conversation with "If you have any problems call customer service" and literally ran away to hide from me without wishing me a good day or sorry for my troubles (I spoke sival, lucid, and clear where the manager clearly didn't speak English.... properly.) Money Sucking Cruise gets one fat star for the beauty, the music at the nightlife (after 11pm the Disco room behind the arcade that is NEVER used is the place to be (25 dollars for 30 minutes of bowling what?!)) and they also get one star for a wonderful server and waitress who provided 5 star performance at dinner (buffett only had hot dogs and burgers from 11-5pm what?!) before their manager told them to stop socializing with us (which we resented him for) So please don't choose MSC...please don't... I've been on 2 cruises previously & my other half has never been on a cruise. I was a bit nervous going in as other reviews remarked on "booze cruise" and problems, etc. and I wanted this to be great for him. It was! We had a great time! Easy on the boat and about a 2hr wait for our cabin (we had carry-on bags) so we had lunch and waited a bit, signed up for a small cabana for the Bahamas bit, walked around, etc. Room was newly remodelled (the ship got out of dry dock in early March this year?). Spacious for 2 of us - and we had a balcony mid-ship. The balcony was great to sit on - 2 chairs and a tiny drink table. Plenty of closet space and the shower was big enough for each of us and he's 6ft tall. Housekeeping was always friendly. Plenty of handwash stations and sanitizing stations. Buffet for lunch and breakfast though we could've had sit-down (we did have sit-down breakfast the last day). Dinner in both main dining rooms was nice and attentive. We ate 1 night in Cagney's and charged it to our room (the AC was ridiculously cold and no help despite repeated complaints it was too cold in there) and for it being late when we ate, there were still lots of large parties coming in and people's dress was varied (shorts and flip flops to suits). Another night we didn't eat dinner on the ship and ate in Havana. Did a shore excursion by NCL to comply with Cuba visa requirements and then in the evening, explored a bit on our own in Havana and had dinner where the tour guide recommended. There is no AC in most places in Havana, no internet, and most places are cash-only. The casino was the casino. Went to a few shows. Missed some of the activities we wanted to do as we got wrapped up walking around the deck multiple times and just enjoying the weather and each other. The piano bar area was crazy busy in the evenings. Didn't do any of the late-night club party/events. Never had a problem getting a drink or waiting too long. Staff was super friendly -some bar staff was meh but likely expected. Clean ship and everything seemed super tidy at all times (not even random glasses or cups lying around). Never a problem getting a chair by the pool. Internet costs were ridiculously high - they even charge to text message each other using their app which I think is beyond penny-pinching on NCL part. We had 100min included, but due to family health crisis at home we upgraded to unlimited and it was more than I pay for a month at home and only one of us could be online at a time. Wish we had an extra day in Cuba and for the Bahamas, they refunded our cabana charges as it rained half the day and we didn't even ask for a refund! Overall great experience though Read Less

First passengers to visit a remodeled Cococay with new water park, pool with bar etc, The whole facilities were excellent, beach did not feel crowded at all (may change on the bigger ships like the Allure), pool was very animated with DJ, had the feel of being in a 5 star hotel pool, The water park gave nice fit to whole family travel idea with rides for every age, this island will surely be a reason to travel in Royal Caribbean for many families in months to come. Of course the water park has a cost of $44 per day, Zipline is $79, There is a Hellium Ballone (costs $24) Jetski tour ($104), etc. Navigator has free water slide on ship, one doulble rider and a single rider (heads down), pretty nice and its free. Shows were ok but not on the level of the Symphony or Harmony, Will recommend it is certainly a nice weekend getaway alternative for those who live in Florida. Read Less

We enjoyed the spacious Family Suite although it wasn’t cleaned very well. When we boarded to dropoff our carryon before heading to lunch the room appeared to be finalizing cleaning so no big deal; however, after using the loo and approaching the sinks to wash my hands, I noticed toothpaste in bothe sinks! We cruise often in Haven and Suites so this was a first for us! Upon leaving the room the steward came up, we thought to introduce himself as usual, but instead berated is for coming in before the room had been cleaned! Not the best first impression at all. A normal request to have the fridge emptied so we could store juices and canape plates was ignored the entire cruise by the Steward and butler. After 3 days of reminders and notes left in room it became a battle of wills, one we lost. The steward was a bit standoffish and neglected to turn down our room, something we have never had to specifically request. Not a big deal but not ordinary. We ended up wasting food because we had no fridge to store it. I ended up not going without slippers because the same debri from when we arrived in the suite remained the entire. cruise. The ship was nice, food great and service was good outside suite, and we had a fun trip overall. Just wanted to point out some oddities and make sure this is the exception! Oh, and the concierge, Reoul, I think, we never met. He brushed past us a few times and we didn’t even know who he was until disembarkation when he was waiting at the exit to say goodbye. Uh, he never said hello! Again odd since we always bond with Haven personnel including Courtyard valet, Butler, steward, etc. Read Less
