This was a surprise trip for my husband and was a Christmas Gift. Our 15th wedding anniversary trip and VERY first cruise and trip without our child. Was supposed to be a romantic / rekindling vacation. Turned out to be a complete nightmare and worst trip we have ever been on. Really really long story short, our flight ended up getting canceled and neither parties were able to rebook us a flight to get to Miami before ship left. Flight got cancelled at 5am but still no one could accommodate us in time to get to Miami. Ridiculous! I called NCL 3 different times to ask what our options were. Option 1, cancel the cruise and only get back port fees and taxes, or option 2, which was pick up ship in Key West. Was told this by 3 different NCL employees. Fine. Spent 2 hours getting flights to Key West, $755 one way from Chicago. Fine. Called NCL back to let them know we'd be getting on the ship in Key West. Employee stated we couldn't get on in Key West. I lost my mind after I just got told by 3 NCL people that we could. She puts me on hold and comes back to say that we can get on in Key West. OK Fine. My husband and I were at the airport about 8 hours before we actually left. About 40 minutes AFTER I booked flights to Key West, the last NCL employee called me back with a manager to NOW tell me that I will incure port fines in Key West for $762pp per the JONES ACT!!!! Why was i never informed this EVER?! And the NCL employees should have ABSOLUTELY said something BEFORE I booked the flight to Key West. I felt totally deceived and taken advantage of. If I would have know that this trip was going to cost me more than double of what I originally paid, I would have just cancelled the cruise before I left Chicago and called it a day. After this, it wasn't it. After hotel costs, ubers, etc. We finally get on ship the following day to be treated like complete crap by the staff because we were now DOWNLINERS! I understand it wasn't the cruise lines fault our flight got cancelled but their customer service was absolutely poor and rude. We have family that take cruise all the time and they have never heard of the Jones Act. Why is this not explained better when you book a cruise, especially when you book directly through the cruise line with their so called "experience agents". Not only this but we were supposed to stop in Great Stirrup Cay but could not, due to high waves. Oh great. Now you have 3000 people stuck on a ship. Everyone was trying to be by the pool area but it was so crowed. They had an entire top deck closed off where no one could sit, 2 hot tubs not working, and people laying on over the deck floors on their towels and we were having to step around. Absolutely terrible! There were lots of other details that were not good either but this review would be 10x as long. Then on the last day, because we were downliners, we had to meet the staff at 6am to be personally escorted off of the ship to customs. And once again, treated like garbage. I've tried to contact NCL several times. Sent a few emails and actually sent a letter to corporate. Glad to know that none of their staff cares about anything. Worst vacation ever, and for sure, no more cruises. Read Less

My wife and I love to cruise, so when we saw this one included all beverages we decided to sail Norwegian this time. I had read a lot of reviews and noted a lot of them mentioned the odor of sewage on the ship. We still decided to go and thought maybe it was a fluke. We get to the port to board and the employee checking us in was absolutely MISERABLE! She barely made eye contact with either of us and didn't offer us a map of the ship, luckily we found one on our own. When it was our turn to board, we followed all the other passengers who has boarded ahead of us (we were group 2). We were greeted with more unpleasant staff who would not let us proceed forward to board because we went thr wrong way. Instead of explaining where to go the just told us the entry was directly beside us. Once on the ship my wife and I immediately noticed the foul odor of sewage. This odor remained the entire cruise. Inside the Dazzels club where the art auction was held the room smelled terribly, like smelly feet. The alcohol was free, however the beer tasted awful! Like it was skunked. The mixed frozen drinks had hardly any alcohol in them and getting a pleasant bartender was impossible. Thank God we found Petar he was wonderful! Our first day at Key West, we booked a boat tour, it got cancelled due to lack of interest. We weren't even given a chance to schedule an alternate shore excursion. The food was also awful at the buffets. Same exact menu everyday. The food at Le Bistro, Crossroads Cafe, and The Palace was very good! The room was good and the bed was comfortable. However, the TV was hazy and basically 2 channels you could watch. Read Less

I am an avid cruiser typically on Royal Carribean and MSC. I stepped outside of my comfort zone to book a family Christmas vacation on NCL. I was initially hesitant (and I should've listened to my gut) but I insisted that we try NCL 100% because NCL was traveling to Cuba on Christmas. Below is a detailed list of my concerns from the past trip: 1. I purchased highest end (streaming) internet package but I couldn't stream a single show from Netflix, Hulu, or YouTube. So I paid for a premium service that I did not receive as advertised (false advertisement). I was able to check my e-mail, facebook, twitter, etc...It was a lot slower but THAT was expected for cruise internet, but Streaming......definitely did not work. 2. Our first stop at Great Stirrup Cay was Cancelled due to weather (again understandable, you can't help the weather) but still disappointing. 3. Then the MAJOR issue with the trip - We were told that there were mechanical issues on the morning we were to arrive in Cuba (the crowing jewel of the holiday trip and the only reason we booked this cruise). My first issue with this is that the captain knew before the morning when everyone was getting ready to start their day in "Cuba" that there were "mechanical" issues. We were not told with specificity what the actual issue was to provide assurance that we were safe. We were just told that some excursions were cancelled (ours was not) and that certain times were rearranged. We were supposed to get to Cuba at 12PM, instead we arrived at the port 4PM but did not get off until 5:30PM cutting the trip down by 4+ hours of DAYLIGHT. The sun set at 5:51 PM that day. We did not get off of the ship and to our excursion until almost 6PM of which you can now understand that it was pretty much dark once our two feet were on land. We had to be onboard by 5AM the following day which meant we couldn't see Havana at all during the day. 4. Our shore excursion was the Ultimate Highlights of Havana - Old & New (description attached below) was supposed to be a daytime tour. We could not see a single thing due to it being completely dark, were not able to take any pictures because we got off of the bus only 1 time to look at the Jesus statue and the tour only lasted 1.5 hours of which it was supposed to last 3hrs as shown below. If we only saw 1/2 of the experiences we should've received 50% credit back. I spoke to someone on board about the issue and they credited each room 8027 and 8028 a $50 credit for the room (of which they credited my roommate and not me) even if he were to pay me the $25 it is still insulting and greedy of NCL to only offer a $25 credit pp. I am not asking for a full refund because we did get on a bus, and we did see the Jesus Statue (so I feel that I am being more than reasonable). I the spoke with guest services about the credit and how it wasn't applied to my individual account and I was told that I would need to call the number on the letter provided to dispute the credit and my dissatisfaction with the way they "compensated" us for arriving at our port 4 hrs late. So I called today and was on hold for 41 minutes before someone answered and they said that my complaint had to be in writing, therefore negating the guest services suggestion and again wasting my time, now off of the ship. 5. The ULTIMATE slap in the face was the letter received by NCL while on the cruise saying that we would be given a 25% off voucher for a future cruise on NCL! If anything we should've received 25% back on the cruise that went horribly wrong! Who wants to spend more money on a cruise with a company that failed their guests tremendously? 6. Additionally, another employee insinuated that I was Gay during a game show of which I have video of. I was wearing a Reindeer sweater and said my name was "Prancer" as a joke, since it was a reindeer. She then proceeded to limp her wrist and walk very feminine and say "You know what, I am not surprised at all if he says Prancer (while walking in a catwalk fashion)." I felt disrespected by this action as well. 7. While I was onboard the ship, I mentioned that I was unhappy with all of the issues listed above and they said that I would need to call the number in the letter to make any more complaints. I then called when I got home and after being on hold for more than an hr, I was told that they do not take complaints over the phone and it would need to be submitted in writing. I'm not sure why that wasn't articulated to me while I was onboard instead of wasting even more of my time. I then wrote them a letter and their response is illustrated by the attached image. Please think twice about booking a cruise with a company that doesn't care one bit about their guests and their vacation experience. Read Less

My husband and I chose this as our first ever cruise at the recommendation of my friend who also happens to be a travel agent. She set us up with the works, and we were thrilled at the idea of heading to the Bahamas to get away for our wedding anniversary during the cold winter months. We had everything sorted for the promos and options that Norwegian was famous for. BOY, WERE WE WRONG. We flew to Miami, got to the terminal, and waited around for well over five hours in the terminal hoping that we would be able to board. As it turned out, the Norwegian Jade was "parked in our spot," so the full ship of existing Sky passengers could not disembark. It was absolute chaos, and as we watched the only vending machine in the terminal dwindle down row by row, there were about 1800 passengers with us in the terminal. Not one single announcement had been made to attempt to explain or give us any sort of time frame on when we would be able to board, the drink machine had broken, and everyone was miserable. We were finally able to board around 8-9pm. The next three days were feeble attempts by the crew and staff to sort of make up for it, and we never did receive an explanation or apology. Amenities: We were supposed to receive about $500 in onboard credit, one night at a specialty dining restaurant (not that we would have been able to find it in the labyrinth of a small ship that the Sky is, anyway), and 100 minutes of free on-board WiFi. We received zero of those things, and when we tried to talk to the Guest Services agent about it, he insisted that it was "not his problem" multiple times, and informed us that our travel agent must have messed things up for our reservation. He offered to try and contact her for us on our behalf, but I was literally having a text message conversation with her at the time, so I declined. I tried to explain that she had already contacted NCL directly, and they had told her they adjusted the reservation the day after she upgraded our room, but the Guest Services agent would not let me speak more than three words before he interrupted me to tell me again that it was "not his problem, this is your problem." We finally just lowered our expectations of what we would experience with our first cruise, and tried to have a good time. It was tough to catch a buzz with the clearly watered-down drinks, but the food was good. The activities were awkward and the cruise staff seemed to be forcing their enthusiasm, but we had a blast when we actually got off the ship and hung out a little bit on two out of the three islands we stopped for port. We didn't leave the ship on the last day because there was a storm that the Captain wanted to avoid (Spoiler alert: We cruised through it anyway), so we had to cut out of our port in Nassau three hours early. We didn't see a point in getting off the ship just to get right back on it, so we hung out by the pool instead. A few days later, our card had been charged over $200 with no statement of what we were actually billed for, and that's that! The storm the last night was pretty rough, but the Captain pushed that ship the heck through it, and we got off the boat at 8am on Friday morning. Cliff Notes: Our first cruise. A 4 day cruise turned into a super rushed 3 day cruise, Guest Services agents do not care about your problems and they'll let you know it, food is decent, B-team crew and staff. If you're considering the Norwegian Sky, just keep looking. We'll likely never cruise anywhere ever again, money is better spent on all-inclusive resort option for a vacation. Read Less

Horrible cheap food, tough meat, pork & beans, rice and cold cuts at every meal, yes even breakfast. You could get an omelet if you wanted to wait 30 min. or more. If there was something halfway decent, it ran out and you were left waiting for more, which took a long time. Same food everywhere, formal dining room and buffets. Tilapia was the only fish served. Service in the formal dining room was disgraceful, warm tomato juice and no refills on coffee or water. Waiter could barely speak English as well as understand it!!! So much wasted food left on people's plates, (1/2 to 3/4 of plate). I guess with open bar they figured no one would notice the terrible food. Remember, on a ship you can't bring food, so your stuck with theirs. Desserts that were so bad, you couldn't make out what flavor they were shooting for. No fancy flavorful decadent desserts on this ship, not even a normal piece of chocolate cake could be found. No pampering here of any kind. Hot tubs at best slightly warm, pool very cold. Ships decor is stuck somewhere in the late 80's with faded polynesian murals on the walls. Casino was nice, but horrible strong smoke odor throughout. Hard to maneuver through the ship as they have made 4 premium restaurants. Up and down between decks to get from the front to the back of the ship. Save your money, this was our first and LAST Norwegian cruise. Read Less

We have been on many cruises and have had great experiences on our last couple of NCL cruises. Unfortunately this cruise was a bust and not a good value or experience. While an older ship, it’s review claims recently renovated. However, unlikely that any customer-facing renovations have been as the shop had a raw sewage smell throughout. Honest staff acknowledged the stench while others in managemt wither denied or justified. One such justification was that the venting system was old and another was that the wind outside was blowing the sewage smell inside. In addition many of the public restrooms were out of order. All of the jacuzzi tubs were broken and either had cold water or were drained. The pool had to be drained as well. Many of the decks were being painted and had “wet paint” signs posted. Shower water regulation was broken as well and alternates between scalding and cold water. Toasters were broken as well and one of the buffet food lines served cold lines served cold food. We attempted to dine at a fee to dine restaurant (Cagney’s Steak house) as we had some on prior cruises. This one is a bust as the sewage smell permiates the dining room and the meal was poorly prepared. I recommend avoiding this ship. Read Less

Thank you Norwegian Cruise Line for ruining my first ever cruise. I walked into my room and found a 1/2 inch of water on the bathroom floor. The toilet was leaking from the wall every time you flush. So instead of being able to put my bags down and unwind for a minute, housekeeping, maintenance and a plumber has to run in and out of my room. After they leave I wipe everything down with bleach wipes and discover they missed all of that fecal matter on both sides of the toilet lid. I didn’t come here to clean up your chit. While I’m away , I’m compensated with a $50 excursion credit. Pass! Secondly, the ship is old and dated. Stuck in the 80’s with brass accents and old dirty carpet. The food from the buffet is horrible. Everyone loads yo their plate and leaves the nasty food on it. All the glasses are preschool kid size and all of the drinks and desserts are sugar free. Hello? Everyone is not diabetic. Oh and of course we didn’t go to Great Stirrup Cay due to soil conditions. No rain, just soil. Again, $50 excursion credits passed out but I didn’t get one this time. Do us all a favor and remove the Sky from your fleet and do a major overhaul on it, the food and your cleaning staff. Again, thanks NCL for ruining my first ever cruise. Read Less

When we decided to book a Norwegian cruise, the main selling point was the trip to Great Stirrup Cay. Once we arrived at the island, the captain of the ship announced we wouldn't be going to shore, instead we went straight to Nassau. My second issue with this cruise was the lack of hot water. For 3 days, my family and I had to take cold showers. When I brought the issue up to guest services, they told me I wasn't turning the faucet to the right side. Also, the kids club was supposed to supply activities and entertainment based on the child's age. Well, my son is 10 and the activites were designed for younger kids. On top of that, the wifi was nonexistent. I could not check and respond to m I work emails. I missed several important emails and deadlines. All in all, my recommendation is STAY AWAY. Read Less

I just want to tell everyone pick a different cruise line. The only thing going for them is the wait staff and cruise director and spa staff. So lets begin so we board the ship and go to our room to start my wife's birthday cruise and in our room was supposed to be a large tropical bouquet and balloons cake and more..... We open the door and i'm hoping she is going to be happy with her surprise and nothing!!! As noting in the room but a very small bouquet and that was it.. So i call the front desk and ask where is my $182.dollars worth of stuff to surprise my wife they said they would check this is at at 4:20 pm so we go explore the ship and come back after be gone for 3 hours and still nothing i call again. They tell me they are working on it.so we do late dinner and come back to the room with the decorated with paper balloons and still no change with the flowers. The next morning i go down to the desk and asked for help they tell me they will call me about the flower and fix it.. So we get ready for our fun day in nassau we get to our boat and the weather is awesome we board the boat going to the private island and after waiting 30min they tell us our excursion is canceled our trip and the held us there. When the finally told us we could go. I ask what else could we do they told us we had to go back to the ship and see. So we did i went to the excursion desk and the lady they said we could go scuba diving and nothing else of we could just go to the public beach which if you do you home work you will find its advised not to do. So i go to the customer service desk and ask for help the tell me the will will refund my excursion money but i'm want my wife to have fun she only turns fifth once so can you help me they call the excursion desk and they told the desk the same we can go diving. So they tell me sorry nothing we can do. You can enjoy the boat or the shops in nassau. So 1pm and now three other boat have ported so place is packed so i take her to paradise resort buy taxi and try to make the best of it no thanks to carnival..we get though saturday. And finally sunday morning get a call from the vp of customer service at 11am telling me that she was going to send someone to take a picture of the flower and send it to corporate and i could handle it with them. Well them never showed to take the picture so i took one myself.. So monday when we got of the boat i called the customer service line and told everything that happened and the guy that works for the carnival told he was sorry but there is nothing he can do..... I will never ever take a cruise on this line again it was the worst experience of any cruise or trip i have ever taken. We wanted to take a family vacation with an option for character breakfasts and activities that cater to our three year old. I was really looking forward to three days of not thinking about activities and entertaining, while enjoying my family. We booked the Mariner of the Seas over a year ago after confirming with THREE RC agents that there will be Dreamworks characters on the ship, along with breakfast, parade, etc. After all, their website advertised the dreamworks experience with no indication that this may change. After we payed our deposit with this promise (literally had the agent promise….otherwise I would have booked a vacation in Orlando), I got a notice that the Mariner will no longer be offering the Dreamworks experience and the ship will be renovated to cater to the millennial crowd-complete with a surfing simulator, monster water slides, and a tiki bar. So basically they were taking away everything that got us to sign onto the trip and replacing it with nothing that was age-appropriate for either my three year old or us 40 year old non-millenials. Knowing that this is going to turn into a trip where I am now going to have to get creative with entertain activities (like I do every day at home…looking for a break to just have fun w the fam!), we tried to cancel. RC refused to refund our deposit because according to the fine print they can change anything they want at any time. As a consolation, they offered an octopus stuffed animal for my daughter which boldly advertises their logo and one dinner at a specialty restaurant. I requested the most kid-friendly at the earliest available time, and was given Chops (most upscale) at 7:30 PM (30 min before bedtime). The icing on the cake was months later I got another email letting me know that babysitting services I was told would be available for when my daughter goes to sleep were discontinued.. The corporate office suggested we “throw” our daughter in their child-care on the ship, not quite understanding that we actually wanted to spend our time with our daughter. We were promised that there would be family storytime (nope). We were promised that our daughter would be able to ice skate (started at 8 PM…bedtime). We were promised waterslides (my daughter was too little for the waterslides). Laser tag was not even an option for her. The climbing wall and VR were a tease for her. On the last day, the schedule said there would be a kid’s movie by the pool-we cut our visit to Nassau short to make it to the movie that never happened even though it was on the schedule. Instead, they showed a video about extreme sports. There were three 30-minute family activities a day, one of which started at 8:30 PM, and many of which were not age-appropriate. They said we can enjoy the pool, and I explained that we have a pool in our backyard..thats not a big deal to us. I was assured this trip would be just as fun and mindless with tons of things for us to do as a family. It was not at all what I signed up for. Total bait and switch. The cruise itself was well-run and the staff were perfect. No doubt this is a great trip for pre-teens, teenagers, or young adults. It us not the ship for a three year old. The announcements at 10 PM reviewing all of the evening activities woke her up every night. The child care appeared to be clean and the staff was super-nice, however if I was going to go on a vacation to be without my child, I would leave her with grandma! We wanted a trip with Dreamworks experience as advertised and by their staff (we did not use an outside travel agent). Although I have been cruising with RCCL since I was 14 years old (and hoping to continue the family tradition of RCCL family cruises), I do not see myself patronizing their company in the future with the way this was handled. There are too many vacation companies that would have handled this in a more honorable way. We are truly disappointed that we were sold a trip that was not what we experienced and will be dealing with more honest companies in the future. I have such a sour taste in my mouth with RCCL after the way they handled this. They lied to us…oh but there is the fine print so its ok… Read Less

I booked this cruise because the travel agent I was working with said that the ship was undergoing a renovation that would be completed by the time I was scheduled to sail. This was not correct. If there were renovations completed, then they were in areas that were not in the general public viewing area. Decorative molding was missing on the walls. I was planning to spend time in the very small casino, to add insult to injury, there is not a non-smoking part of the casino. My plans to have fun in the were ruined. The cigarette smoke migrated out of the casino, exposing patrons to second-hand smoke. The casino is located on the same deck as one of the dining rooms. My stateroom had a urine smell and two attempts were made to shampoo the carpet and it did not resolve the issue. I was offered another stateroom on day 4 (this was a 5 day cruise) by a manager named Anselmo Torres, who initially gave me fake compliments on my appearance, offering me a bottle of wine, and then offered another cruise at a discounted rate, all of which I found to be laffable and down right insulting. Two out of the four scenic elevators were inoperable the entire duration of the cruise. See pictures, causing a delay in traveling between decks. Some elevators skipped a floor because too many people were on them. Spent most of the time taking the stairs because at one point, three attempts were made to get on an elevator that was full due to the other inoperable elevators. When addressing my concerns with guest relations, there were other patrons who were experiencing the same issue regarding unauthorized charges to their staterooms. Several attempts were made by them to get the charges removed and were unsuccessful. I witnessed two RCI employees switch over to speaking Spanish when discussing a patron's bill in front of the patron. This was totally disrespectful and insulting. The drink package was not worth the money. Please do not purchase them. Please check your stateroom charges, request a final statement, and make sure RCI corrects any discrepancies before disembarking the ship. My father was billed for a drink he never had. Went to guest relations 5 times, my father spoke to guest relations 3 times and when I checked my credit card statement, the final stateroom bill did not match my credit card statement. I called the corporate office this morning. They record your conversations to try to catch you in a lie, but when you confront them on something they were at fault for, they do not admit their faults, they just attempt to wordsmith what they say because they know that they are being recorded. This is some of the most unprofessional form of customer service I have ever experienced. Word of mouth is very important and I will be sure to never recommend RCI to anyone. It really upset me that my very first time on a cruise was one of the most terrible experiences I've had. I hope to try again with another cruise line. RCI does not deserve another chance. Read Less

The entire ship smelled like sewage, which made it hard to enjoy sitting outside at all. Our room smelled. I had a headache most of the time. The door to the dining room completely came off in my hand. There were spit balls on the ceiling of the room, there was a ring in the toilet the entire time as if it hadn't been cleaned, one of the lights in the bathroom was old and broken, the towel rack was broken and left on the floor by housekeeping, our toilet broke on several times which prevented us from flushing the toilet, the drain in the sink had a slimy mildew on it which caused the sink to stop up and drain slow. The towels had stains on them and were dingy. The carpets in the halls sunk in when you walked. It was a mess to say the least. I have reached out to their customer service department about this several times and I'm still waiting on a response. I even made complaints on the ship, and was never given the option to move. Anniversary Cruise with the wife. These things happened onboard and I reported them to Carnival Customer Care when I returned home. (Note: These issues were not resolved by onboard staff when they were reported.) 1) Friends were unable to board because Carnival was trying to determine if they had a medical device that I use. How did they get my information on their cabin? Carnival Customer Care Response: Because they had dinner with us the information was given to them. Wow!!! 2) Passengers next to and above us (they were together) decided it was a good idea to put 9-10 inch speakers in hallway and blast music. They also did this in their cabin. Reported to Guest Services & Security. Nothing done. Carnival Customer Care Response: None (Onboard security stated they only “...take care of these types of issues at night”. The cabin steward handles in the daytime.) 3) Pre-Ordered a vanilla anniversary cake to be delivered for dinner. Received a chocolate happy birthday cake. Wow #2!! Carnival Customer Care Response: Refunded money. 4) Ordered food from room service twice. Resulted in wrong drinks and cold chicken wings. Carnival Customer Care Response: None At this point we’re done with Carnival. My wife and I have only cruised Carnival in the past. I have 11 and she has 12. We are Gold & Platinum members respectively. We requested Carnival refund our money and were told via telephone by Alicia today that nothing would be done. She offered a credit on our next cruise. Next cruise, seriously?!?!?! Read Less

Embarkation was easy no problem there. But this cruise is the most boring cruise I’ve ever been to. Entertaining will kick around 11pm and there is no pool ambiance except belly flopping activities, the last night of the cruise they have a deck party starting at 11:15pm!!! Which is crazy!!!! He whole cruise like a retirement community just to bring out some entertainment on the last day. He promenade will provide entertainment as well staring at 11 pm. The live music can hardly be heard because is to tight of a hallway for such potent speakers. Then later you will conglomerate like a sardine on a stretch hallway to dance old music either 70’s or 80’s the Latin club is a jail size space located on deck 4 where you listen to old Spanish salsa and is tight and uncomfortable to dance. If you are looking for other areas of the ship be prepared to get lost, is a maze!!! Chops grill is overrated. The steaks are cooked however they want you to eat it not how you ask for it. I wanted medium I got rare and when I asked do it to be cooked a little bit more the chef turned into chef Ramsay from Hell’s Kitchen. Yelling at the waiter being rude and making eye contact with me as if I had offended his awful cooking techniques. The stateroom is old and moldy smelling, beds hard as wood planks and if you ask for a room with one bed, be prepared to fall thru the crack in the middle where they conjoin the beds. If you don’t get your room clean everyday you will get harassed by the cruise coordinator, he will knock on your door he will stalk you on the hallway asking if the room is ok because it hasn’t been cleaned. Ports are good and shore excursions are ok too. Organized and easy to get to. I will not recommend this cruise. There are better and much more entertaining cruises. Cruises that will make say I can’t wait to come back. But not this one. I was happy to disembark this morning. Read Less

Thought it would be an easy weekend getaway. What a joke. First, if you have a handicap, STAY OFF THIS SHIP. The cabin doors are so narrow that you can barely get a wheelchair or motorized scooter into the cabin. The thresholds between areas are so high you can barely get a chair over them. The cabins are dark and cramped, even in a suite. Mildew in the shower, beds slant off to the side. A/C is noisy. The bathrooms smell like an outhouse. Food is just ok, choices are limited. room service takes forever to get delivered. Booze flows freely and most people are thoroughly wasted by the time the ship sets sail. Staff seems overly stressed. If something doesn't work in your cabin, don't expect it to get fixed in a hurry. Noise level in the forward cabins is ungodly when they drop anchor. Onboard pool water is dirty and disgusting. Read Less

To begin, the ship was disgusting. The bathrooms outside of my stateroom were dirty, most stalls did not have toilet paper and the soap and paper towel dispenser did not work. The food in the main dining hall (The Palace) was very poorly made. After our first night at the Palace being a disappointment I made reservations for the steak house, Cagnyes on board. The bread given to us at the beginning of our meal was COLD..The steak that I ordered was not edible by any means, the sides given were also extremely bland leaving me no choice but to not eat the meal we paid for. The second night we went to Le Bistro, again the bread given was cold. The appetizers were sub par and the entree was terrible.. The second day of the cruise we were supposed to go to great stirr up cay, we did not make it due to high winds which put us at a day at sea. My boyfriend and I went looking for the new on board schedule, once we got it he and I picked a couple of activities we found interest in. We showed up to the chocolate and wine tasting along with many other people and the staff came around and told us it was a miss print in the schedule? This happened one other time so we gave up attending any gathered activities The people on the cruise were very rude, they had no sense of courtesy or manners. I will say getting on and off the ship was a breeze. All in all, my partner and I will never be taking a NCL ever again. Thank you for reading. Read Less

We never stopped at the private island so many people onboard paid to visit, the ship was lackluster than any cruise line i have been on. The food was horrible and the service was ok. Pre paid drinks and specialty dining caught my eye so i sold hook line and sinker. This was my 1st time on norwegian thinking i was going to upgrade my cruising experience but was i disappointed. The cabin was ok i had a port view. The ship itself didnt have a lot of activities on the ship to enjoy. There was only 1 comedy show and it was horrible. The lounge that was supposed to have a party smelled like feet. if you're looking for a nice mid range cruise.. This is not the one. we called this ship the s.s. Minnow.. The boat is old and very outdated. we booked a top deck ocean view room. Thinking it would be nice. It was so tiny we didn't even have room to unpack. i felt sorry for the room attendant.there wasn't any room to clean.although he did a good job for what he had to work with. The balcony would of been nice..but they were scraping and repainting the ship two days we were docked. Paint chips flying everywhere. Would not cruise on the norwegian sky ever again. Read Less

First & last Cruise! Our experience was so poor 9/24/18 that they offered us a free cruise at the end & we declined! There is not one corner of this ship that is peaceful. Blaring music & shouting announcements in every inch of the ship. Very little control over public smoking, Just passing through the casino or outer decks will make you smell like an ashtray. Excessively loud non essential announcement speakers outside the bedroom early morning & late night with an annoying shouting cruise director. Very loud noisy dirty moldy rooms made it impossible to sleep. The buffet style Windjammer food was extremely poor & dirty. Destination coco cay island was under construction packed & provided very little to see or do. As you would guess every little thing is quite expensive. If you want a loud dirty overcrowded smokey drunken booze cruise this may yet be for you. Read Less

I hated everything about this cruise, old small rooms. The food was horrible. The price was ridiculous, service charge everyday for $20 for each person that I was not notified about. The only thing that I enjoyed was Atlantis. If I had to cruise again it will not be with this cruise line. I had to pay for coffee, but I could get free alcohol, I don’t even drink alcohol. Be aware the last day of the cruise you will lose all your money in the casino. There was nothing fun to do on the cruise. The workers are the only thing good on the cruise, very friendly and helpful. The private island sucks. Nothing fun to do there, boring bbq had no seasoning, jerk chicken was awful. The taco in the island was horrible as well. Don’t ever go Norwegian Sky, it’s not worth the price I paid. Thank you! Read Less

...full speed ahead to the profits. Hopefully this will not be RCCL moto on her other ships it is on the Mariner! We had sailed on it in May before it went into dry dock for renovations and had a wonderful experience. But the renovations destroyed the ship causing the ship to be overcrowded and a mess !! Gone are the whirlpool in the spa,the deli in the solarium, adults only in the solarium and space to move around in the dining room. The dining room has become a sea of oversized white chairs with very little space to walk between them. Welcome to the world of being sardines! Is there anything positive? Yes, the staff still gives superb service, but the overall ship makes us to recommend save your money and find another ship. RCCL has ruined a ship that was very enjoyable to one to put on your list to avoid!!! Read Less

I booked this cruise due to a friend getting married on the Norwegian Sky. This was my first cruise ship experience so my expectations were probably higher than what another person may be. The ship is pretty old and I knew almost instantly when we boarded that I was on a budget booze cruise. The alcohol is free, but I think they offer this because the food is awful and everything tastes better when your drinking. I would recommend upgrading your meals. There is a central kitchen, so even when you go to the sit down restaurants you are getting the same food as whats offered in the buffet. But if you upgrade to the other restaurants they have there own kitchen the food is fresh, hot and much more favorable. The buffet offered outside after dinner hours is probably the best and it offered chicken wings, pizza and more specialty desserts. Overall the endless buffet people talk about on a cruise is sub par on the Norwegian Sky. Also when you go to the sit down restaurants even the non upgraded restaurants you will be charged 20% gratuity that's why they swipe your card. The buffet is the only way to avoid this fee. Our room was what was to be expected although not even as close to what it looked like online, just outdated. Our toilet backed up twice as did our neighbors it was very difficult to get staff to take care of it. My suggestion is to learn Spanish before traveling as this is the primary language on the boat and will help you should problems arise. We got nothing but a $50/off a $100 massage at the spa for the inconvenience. lol we had to spend $100 first, of course! We couldn't use our room for 3 hours the 2nd time it happened and had a noisy fan left in our room until the carpet dried. We couldn't even negotiate because the staff could not understand us, how annoying! Thank god there was no real emergency!! The best part of the cruise is the private island, its beautiful, we brought our own snorkeling gear and it was awesome. I am 38 yrs old and it was fun to see my peer group and older enjoying themselves in the ocean! The drinks were great along with the food. Read Less

This cruise is completely outdated and terrible. Our room smelled terrible and when we asked for it to be cleaned no one helped us. The top deck where the pool is smells like pee all over the wooden floor and they do not ID. I met a group of high school kids between 17-19 years old that had black outs and alcohol poisoning due to the amount of drinks they were given. The food is also very very bad. Not fresh at all and just very outdated with everything. Outdated rooms, amenities, food, everything. Definitely never will I ever do a Norwegian cruise again. I do not recommend this shop or cruise line at all. Specially if you’re traveling with family or small children. Absolutely the worst experience and very low class people on board. We were offered cocain our first day. Terrible experience all together, biggest mistake I made Read Less
