It was our 5th cruise on Holland. We had been sailing Royal since pandemic, but got a casino offer from Holland. We've always enjoyed Holland and this gave us a chance to get our foot in the door. The food was terrible. You could tell they used frozen vegetables which resulted in soggy and oddly salty vegetables. Dry and overcooked meat. Overcooked pasta and noodle. The rice was wet and crumped together. They either used instant rice or a messed up pot. The only things that are ok were pizza, burger and soft-serve ice cream. Cabin- we had a nice balcony along with lots of space. 5 stars for that. Food- main dinning room was not good, at all. Whole wheat pasta for kids, is that a joke? Nope. Embarkation: VERY GOOD. We were on the ship within 25 minutes of dropping off our bags. Note for when sailing out of San Francisco, the port is off The Embarcadero and there was heavy traffic getting to the pier. We chose this cruise as it's only a 50 minute flight to Long Beach. The ship was very clean and I'm not sure how Carnival does it, but their staff is amazing. We took our 7 year old grandson and had a deluxe ocean view with to bathrooms. There was enty of room for the 3 of us. It was 2 hort flights to the Vista dining room.
